Happy BDay to Aamun Valo, Tähtien’s paternal aunt! born on Elona 1st, 48 BBY.

she and her younger brother Jumalan are the current heads of Valo Ætt, one of the six families of the tribe Jah Karai on Bespin. for a time tho, she was the sole leader after her brother’s four-year disappearance, thus having to balance her duties as a high-ranking tribal council member and being a single mom to her son Tuli

also, she exclusively wears her family’s official colors. if anyone needs some fancy outfit for festival time, they go to täti Aamun

~one year later…

a few things to add onto her story; still trying to figure out who her partner was, as in Tuli’s other parent. i guess the only solid ideas i have at this point is that they’re likely nonbinary and probably weren’t a part of tribe, which is why they didn’t stick around? idk. who knows; maybe Tuli was just an accident, fhsjdhgj. 

but yeah, Aamun is still perfectly capable of being a single mother; if anything, i think she prefers it. she’s honestly always struck me as being the most independent in her family, despite her leadership role and always making sure everyone is cared for and all that. maybe, if anything, that time when Jumalan was kidnapped and then both of her parents dying w/in a year of each other was a real turning point for her, now w/ all this responsibility being thrown onto her. like going from an independent, almost a loner of a single mom to head of the whole family in the span of ~4 years was. A Lot. 

and of course Jasne was there to help her, but those two just weren’t as close growing up. i like to think that they were finally able to take the time and get to properly know each other once Jumalan returned and things finally started to settle back down, and she was able to go back to focusing on just herself and her son. the main difference at that point tho was that she was more comfortable w/ the whole leadership thing now that things were more or less back to normal. that’s how she finally settled into that role of the bossy but loving aunt all the kids came to know. (which of course Tuli was probably already used to at that point, but now those two finally got to share the love, lol.)

oh, and i’m like 90% positive she’s the one who gives Arvokas that name, after hearing what his deadname means. only reason i’m unsure if it was her or Jasne was b/c if i ever wrote that note down somewhere i cannot find it, rip. but ye, the second he told them all what his old name meant, she was just “no no no, absolutely not” and gave him a new name w/ the complete opposite meaning b/c gods dammit, someone tell this poor child he’s loved.

so i didn’t actually mention it on here, but in prep for future bday posts updates, i’m slightly overhauling Taivas’ backstory for a second time. Aamun would of course known Darthustra was already pregnant before she ran off w/ Jumalan, but when he returned w/ two boys who would’ve been far too old to be his own child, it certainly threw her through a loop. originally, Taivas was going to be her blood-related nephew, but long-story short, that’s not the case anymore. however, that certainly does not stop her from treating both Arvo and Tai as if they were. also i said last year i didn’t know if her or Jasne gave Arvo his name but i’m officially stating now that if was in fact her decision, and in turn she let Jasne rename Tai.

Hap Birf to yet another one of my star wars ocs!

this time it’s Jesse “Curry” McCarty (born on the 5th day of New Years Fete, 17 BBY), who’s literally named after three different famous outlaws, lmao. he’s the Clyde to a pair of ocs who’re basically space!Bonnie & Clyde, so i felt the naming convention appropriate.

he’s Pantoran who grew up on Pantora working in the kitchens for a wealthy noble family alongside his single mother Megarrera Urgo (or just Meg). back then, he went by his given name, Frandelme Urgo (or just Fran), and was good friends w/ the noblewoman’s three daughters, Preela, Naydelia (Naydie), and Chandi Grenlan. but after an altercation w/ some nobleman who was visiting and trying to court their mother, Weylani Grenlan, he was framed for a pretty serious crime. knowing the odds were stacked against him, being only a servant boy, he decided to flee the planet instead of trying to prove his innocence. 

he ended up making his way to the planet Taris, where he resides now. after dying his hair (he’s a natural blond) and changing his name, and after a series of unavoidable circumstances, he decided to begin a life of piracy b/c at that point it seemed unavoidable. he eventually met up w/ another Pantoran runaway, an up-and-coming doctor named Barnaby, and his Twi’lek mercenary friend Serena, and together they form the start of their currently unnamed crew. not too much longer after that, he and Barnaby save Barrow Cassidy (another oc of mine i’ve mentioned before) from her crashed ship; she ends up joining their crew as their pilot and becomes the Bonnie to his Clyde.

~one year later…

not a whole lot has changed plot-wise for Jesse; mostly just filling in some blanks. i think i had an idea for the crime he was framed for but didn’t really commit to it: basically, it was murder. it’s the easiest option to go with, and if poison was involved, he’d be the obvious choice to frame since he knows his way around food and drink.

as for when he meets up w/ Barnaby and Serena, that probably happens sooner than i originally planned; more like w/in a day or so of his arrival on Taris. most likely, he was just bumbling around in a panic so much, the two took pity on him, lol. and sort of speaking of which, i once played around w/ the idea of him and Barnaby potentially being romantic partners at one point. maybe they considered it, but ultimately decided they weren’t the ones for each other. i did however keep that one point i mentioned on Barnaby’s post that he’s responsible for for (re)dying Jesse’s hair whenever that needs to be done.

and then at some point i also decided he’s responsible for recruiting Lydas to the Siren’s Echo (finally came up w/ a name for the crew btw). probably witnessed Lydas just being a general badass or something lmao, and thought “hey, why not ask if he’s available for hire?” jdhfjd which. brilliant planning on his part; no one else besides him was particularly thrilled by the idea, and esp since it almost went south as soon as the others found out Lydas is an Imperial defector. but, to Jesse’s credit, it definitely worked out in the end.

lastly, the big Taris Mission (that i swear one day i’ll actually explain, fdsjfjksg) is when he finally learns he’s a Grenlan. he and Barrow end up being the ones to find where Preela and her sisters were imprisoned, and there’s of course a whole big reunion where the truth of Jesse’s past finally comes out to Barrow (b/c she still doesn’t know at that point; Jesse was purposefully cagey about it). and then the sisters all find out he’s been a pirate the whole time for really no reason b/c their mom had already proved his innocence years ago so he could’ve come home whenever, but. yeah, rip. anyway, either Weylani or Meg finally mention it, and frankly none of them are really surprised about it. but ultimately Jesse decides he’s gonna stick w/ the Siren’s Echo b/c at least now they’re all one big happy family again, so yay.

is how i’m gonna phrase it where it applies, hsdhg thankfully nothing really at all to change or add, since this is already longer than i remember, lol rip. if anything, i guess i’m just a little perplexed on how to handle his name since obvs his pirate fam know him as Jesse while Pantoran fam still know him as Fran. and like. given that Jesse McCarty was essentially something he made up on the spot? idk. like it’s still a big part of his identity now, so he prob just lets people call him either/or after a point.

Happy Birf to Pimeä Valo!!! born on the 3rd day of New Years Fete, 83 BBY.

this marks the first round of ocs who didn’t exist when i initially started making these posts, so! w/o further ado, meet Tähtien’s paternal grandma!

she’s originally from a different family in Jah Karai, from Aer Ætt, so her given name was actually Rece Aer. however, when she married Kultainen (of Valo Ætt), she decided to not only take the family name but change her first name too, thus going from being “cold air” to “dark light”. just to clarify tho, neither of those two names are indicative of her personality, lol; if anything, she’s sort of where her daughter Aamun gets her no-nonsense attitude from. but she just has so much love for her family, she can be a tad bit overbearing at times. tho she of course knows how to let loose too, when the situation calls for it.

but ye, she’s a proud mother of two, of Aamun and Jumalan, but even long before Jasne was officially part of the family, she pretty much always considered Jasne to be a daughter(-in-law). the two of them just got along so well; they had a lot of similar views in terms of like. openness and acceptance, and people being allowed to express themselves, live comfortably in their own skin, and all that kinda stuff (which really sucks, given that she died before she could meet Tähtien). and in fact, she and Jasne became even closer after Jumalan was taken away by Darthustra; Jasne was with her through that, through her husband’s death, and even right up to her own last moments. those were hard times for her, but the family as a whole did their best to stay as connected as possible, b/c they didn’t want to lose anyone else. and being the head of the family, she needed to be strong for everyone else too, but when it was finally her time, she knew she was leaving things in good hands w/ Aamun and Jasne.

~one year later…

i just briefly want to clarify that by mentioning her previous name, it’s by no means her deadname; it was just merely a personal choice of hers to change it. nor is it really necessary/required for people to change names if they switch families; she simply. felt like it, fhsdjhf. also like she was marrying into the main branch of one of the six major tribes/families of her people, so like if anything, she prob felt like it was an honorable thing to do.

starting the year off right away with more oc bdays!! Hap Birf, Parker Cassidy!! born on the 1st day of New Years Fete, 58 BBY!

b/c it’s totally not like i completely missed hers last year by a mere hour, fdshfksj.

Isom and Barrow’s mom! and a super cool pirate mom at that! originally from Pamarthe, she was learning how to fly before pretty much anything else, but she just wasn’t feeling the whole “use your gift to explore the galaxy and help out those along the way” vibe–at least, not in a stereotypical goody two-shoes sort of sense. yes, she wanted to explore the galaxy and help others where she could, but it ended up being more like a robin hood-style kind of a gig. and hey, if she ended up coming away w/ a net positive too, then that was even better, lol. thus, she became a notorious pirate queen and captain of a crew called the Siren’s Wail.

she ran into a number of other pirate crews and various gangs throughout her career–some she got along with, others she didn’t–but one of her more unusual encounters landed her on Devaron, where she met Sid. there was never any animosity between them, but they didn’t necessarily get along at first. but as they got to know each other better, they became good enough friends that Isom happened. however, they both agreed her life of piracy wasn’t a good place to raise a child, so Isom stayed w/ his dad near the Temple of Eedit. Parker still made a point to visit when she could, and when she couldn’t, it was either space!video calls or fancy gifts in the mail that were 100% obtained through piracy, lol.

then, closer to the end of her career, she ran into a gang called Purgatory where she met one of their members, Ellody. and while they were never officially a Thing, they obviously became close enough that Barrow became a thing. but, both of them were nearing major transitioning points in their lives; Parker was considering retirement while Ellody was planning on breaking away from his current crew to start one of his own. so basically, he gave Parker that extra little push she needed by telling her to settle down back home w/ her wealth to raise their child, and he would take on the parts of her crew who would accept him. which is how Parker ended up back on Pamarthe to teach Barrow how to fly but also allowed her daughter the freedom to choose her own path, that piracy didn’t have to be a family tradition. and needless to say, despite her obligatory parental worry™, she was more than proud when Barrow decided to join the Rebellion as one of their x-wing pilots

~one year later…

frankly not much to update, but i think i’ve started getting a vibe that perhaps a lineage of pirate queens maybe is a family tradition. perhaps not intentionally, but i never really seen her as being close w/ her own parents–thus why she makes a point to be a part of her own kids’ lives as much as she can yet doing her best to keep the dangerous parts away from them. i think maybe she didn’t know her parents at all growing up, that she was just sort of raised by the community maybe?? mostly b/c she didn’t stick around w/ anyone long enough to really consider them family, and b/c the whole learning to fly thing is something just about everyone on the planet does, it’s not like someone specific or majorly relevant took the time to teach her the ropes. so there’s a good chance there was a bit of natural talent involved, but anyway, it would also explain her early retirement a bit better too. b/c she already had one kid she left w/ his other parent, it figures she’d not wanna do it again.

regardless, the story behind her parents could perhaps be that one (or both) were also pirates of some description whose luck unfortunately ran out when Parker was super young. just in some way or another, coincidentally, there ended up being a loosely-related line of wealthy/influential Cassidy women on Pamarthe and the surrounding part of the galaxy.
