People with Autism are often described as being “strange,” “weird,” or “peculiar,” because they are different from their peers which can make them stand out and struggle to fit in.

Because of the fact that people with Autism struggle with social understanding it can be very difficult to make friends and get along with other people.

Yeah, this quote hurts my heart. So many people with Autism feel as though they don’t fit in and that they aren’t normal. When you don’t have a diagnosis it can be especially difficult because you don’t know why. You know there’s something different about you, you know other people are doing and feeling things you aren’t and you know you’re doing and feeling things other people aren’t, but you don’t know why. It can be super isolating.

3. Challenging Authority Figures

It’s very common for people with Autism to challenge authority figures. Generally this is because they often naturally assume equanimity and don’t understand why some people should get more respect then others if they aren’t seemingly deserving of it. This stems from having a heightened sense of justice and empathy.

4. Autism and Sexualtiy

We know Michael’s canonically Pan and as we’ve previously discussed (read Tori’s part for more info) Autism and the LGBTQ+ community are heavily intertwined. I tried to look into Autism’s correlation to Pansexuality but couldn’t find anything specific.

I also wanted to add in a little fact about how Neurodivergent people tend to gravitate towards eachother and queer people tend to do the same so Michael and Tori makes a lot of sense.

5. Special Interests/HyperFixations

Ok so, Michael gets pretty into Solitiare. Right from the start he’s obsessed. Taking photos of the posts, insisting they go to the meet up. I’d probably say it’s a hyperfixation.

And DISNEY. Holy heck Michael loves Disney… and if you haven’t caught on already, yeah imma say it’s a special interest.

A lot of people with Autism struggle with school and like Tori points out, it’s not because they’re not smart, Michael is smart. It’s just that the education system isn’t fitted to benefit Neurodivergent children. So many things affect Autism in schools. The dreadful sensory environment, lack of control over what they can and can’t do and the difficult social pressures.

7. Emotional dysregulation

- “He clenches his fist and he snarls. He actually snarls at me.

“Maybe you are a manically depressed psychopath.” Michael Holden, Solitaire, Page 163

Emotional Dysregulation is the inability to control the intensity and expression of emotions. This is common in people with Autism and can result in overly intense emotions and lashing out. I think this is something that heavily impacts both Tori and Michael and results in a lot of their arguments. The aforementioned quote is just one example of how quickly and dramatically their arguments blow up due to this.

- “His face contorts into a kind of scrunched-up snarl, his fists curl, his skin drains of colour, and he storms past the man and tramps over to the benches. He reaches a row of lockers and looks into them, blankly, chest visibly expanding and contracting. Oh there is just so much to cover here. So this is a prime example of an Autistic meltdown. Autistic meltdowns can be caused by overwhelming emotions (In this situation that is Michael loosing his race) and result in an outburst which can include crying, screaming (“howl of rage”), aggression (punching the lockers and kicking the helmets) and self injurious behaviours (Pulling his hair). It’s probably worth mentioning that a few of the outbursts he has towards teachers that I mentioned earlier are probably also meltdowns.

8. Stimming

Whistling is a form of stimming, this particular quote is from when they are in Truham looking for Charlie, considering Michael’s disdain for Truham I can imagine it was a slightly stressful environment to be back in which would validly result in a need for stimming. I actually couldn’t find any other examples of stimming except possibly the hair pulling that was mentioned in the last quote.

9. Pattern Recognition

So pattern recognition is the autistic brains increased ability to recognise patterns and in Solitaire Michael is the first person to put together the fact that all of Solitaire’s pranks were related to Tori. I really can’t be bothered to find the quote where they talk about those

I think that Tea is probably a safe food for Michael because he is often mentioned to have a mug of Tea in his hands. (But I’m not British so maybe this is like normal? How much tea do British people actually drink?)

this happened a while ago but i still feel conflicted about it. (tw: mention of germophobia, mention of suicidal thoughts) and this might get very long, so sry about that.

i know that this must sound super weird, but basically i have a pretty extreme phobia of germs and my dad (60s, M) took me spontaneously to a shoe store to buy new shoes.

now i’m also autistic, so this spontaneous change of plans was already pretty stressful for me, but i tried to hide that and pretended to be okay with that.

the thing is that i had only one “clean” pair of shoes (like clean on the inside, not the outside obviously) and like those got dirty/muddy when i was on a walk with a friend and it rained really extremely. the evening after that, i spent like an hour trying to get those shoes clean again bc otherwise i don’t know if i could’ve forced myself to ever wear them again. i did everything i could and even sanitized them like 5 times (i know it’s excessive but it still didn’t feel like it was enough). i can make myself wear them again now but it takes a bit of (internal convincing everytime and like even if i only had them on for a few moments, i change my socks and shower afterwards everytime because i just can’t handle it otherwise.

and basically my dad doesn’t really understand my mental health because i’m not good at explaining it (when i talk about this irl i always end up in tears, no matter how hard i try to suppress that and then i end up feeling bad for crying and then i spiral), but he still noticed my discomfort with my current show situation. that’s why he wanted to buy me new shoes, and rationally speaking, i was very grateful and thought it was a good idea. but emotionally, i was very distraught from the change in routine and i knew that this store was very small and that it’s basically guaranteed that all of the shoes there have already been tried on by someone.

i know that’s technically normal and not a big deal, but it’s honestly really disgusting to me and i don’t want to try on shoes that anyone else has ever worn (and especially not if i don’t know who wore them or when or how clean those people’s feet were). i knew my dad wouldn’t understand that reasoning, so i tried to just say that i don’t like the shoe brands that store has or that i want a different type of shoe or that i don’t like the design etc etc.

and then we came across the exact type of shoe i was already wearing but in black (mine were like dark purple) and my dad was like “great, you like black and you already like the brand and that specific model!” and i obviously had no excuse anymore for why i didn’t like that one. so i just admitted my actual reasoning for saying no to that and all the others.

my dad ended up opening every shoe box and i was right that all of them (in my size) had already been tried on. i really wanted to just force myself to look past that and try one on anyway, but i just couldn’t make myself do it.

i was on the verge of a panic attack tbh (i get those a lot from this phobia), but i managed to kinda keep it in check. my dad and i ended up leaving the store but i could tell that he was really annoyed and so i apologized but that seemed to only annoy him even more.

the car ride home was at first pretty awkward, then it developed into an argument where i tried to explain my phobia but i think i only made it worse on accident bc of the emotions and then we were just kinda silent at each other for the rest, until he tried to make some small talk and i fucked up (because i can’t control the tone of my voice very well due to my autism and i was still emotionally messed up), so then he got a bit passive aggressive again.

when we arrived at home, i hid in the living room (no one really ever goes there currently) and had a bit of a meltdown. i was really spiraling- like suicidal thoughts and googling for a painless suicide method because i felt like such a pathetic disappointment and failure of a daughter and human being. eventually after like half an hour, my mom came looking for me and found me sitting there, sobbing in the corner. she asked what happened and bc i felt really ashamed i didn’t want to tell her, so i said i’d explain later.

i wasn’t really able to stop crying completely that whole rest of the day. like i got some moments where i was outwardly calm, but on the inside, i wasn’t able to really calm down at all until the next day. usually my mom is pretty understanding of my phobia but not of me crying, so i was very surprised when she completely took my side after she heard what happened from my dad’s perspective.

by the time, i had stopped “hiding” in the living room, my dad had already fully calmed down as if nothing happened, but i still felt (and still feel) really bad about it, because i know he only had good intentions and i messed it up completely. my mom told me that he had offered that i could just look up some shoes online and he’d order them for me instead of going to an in-person store for that again, but i’m not sure if that was really his idea bc it sounds more like something my mom would propose. i do like that idea, but because i’m not sure if it was actually his idea, i haven’t said anything to him about it. i just feel really bad that my parents didn’t get a normal daughter, because i feel like my mental illness makes everything harder than it has to be and they don’t deserve that, but i don’t know what to do (therapy is unfortunately not an option currently).

On the topic of non-canon ways to interpret the inklings, my personal explanation/headcanon for how cap Cuttlefish and dj Octavio live that long is that inkfish live to be up to 150, which since those two are like. 130 puts them equivalent to a 80-90 year old human

I imagine that they develop/mature slowly and inkfish from 20 to 30 are still kinda kids in the same way a teenager is a kid (kinda like hobbits lmao)

I don’t have an explanation for how creatures like squids and octopi somehow have these ridiculously long lifespans when their wild ancestors lived for like. 3 years but I’m hand waving it away as just something something Alterna crystals

I like this explanation of inkfish having extremely long lifespans for several reasons. First off, many invertebrates are indeterminate growers, which means they keep growing throughout their whole lives, and for example some lobsters (i think) don't even HAVE a natural lifespan, they either die of external means or because they grow too big to molt. Inklings could easily be indeterminate growers, and DJ Octavio definitely fits that mold with some depictions of him in the game being like 3 or 5 times the size of the player inklings... on the other hand Captain Cuttlefish completely debunks it with him being even smaller than the player inkling. But honestly, neither of these are very good sources because DJ Octavio is scaled large due to being an enemy and a final boss due to Video Game Visibility Reasons and looks pretty normal-sized in the glass domes, whereas nothing about captain cuttlefish makes sense to begin with as his design is so early he still has VISIBLE BONES, way too many tentacles on the wrong spot, and is literally a dried squid jerky as of Splatoon 3 who has no organs and can float for some reason and SHOULD BE DEAD.

Anyway, inkfish having no natural end to their lifespan seems likely as they're molluscs, and in real life, cephalopods are quite low in the food chain. This would mean that overpopulation wouldn't really happen in Splatoon nature, because just about everything wants to eat squids and octopuses, so even if they lived to like two hundred years old, most probably wouldn't make it to 30 especially early in their evolution. That being said though, a long lifespan in combination with their insane abilities, intelligence, and social nature might have been driving factors in why they became the apex species of the planet (which they canonically are).

There are reasons I don't like the idea that they have super long lifespans. Obviously the first one is that they're cephalopods, which FAMOUSLY have very short lifespans, so it feels very out of character for inklings to be famous for the exact opposite thing. I'd like for them to actually live for slightly less time on average than humans do, maybe 50-60 years. This is also taking into account that a trend in nature is that smaller, more active and energetic animals typically have short lifespans - think especially rodents that are extremely jittery a lot of the time and very mobile - but only live like, max 5 years. Whereas the long-lived animals tend to be the ones that are large and slow and barely do anything, like tortoises, or just ones that are really big, like whales. Inklings clearly fall into the relatively small super-active species bracket with extremely malleable bodies and insane metabolic cost due to how much ink they create.

The other reason I don't really like the idea of Inklings having super long lifespans is that there is literally no other implication of it in the game. Which, duh, it's a game about teens, for teens. There was never going to be much talk about elder inklings to begin with. But with the assumption that Inklings would live to be over a hundred years old, it would mean that there should be a LOT of old inklings... EVERYWHERE. We don't see that side of society in the games of course which is a bummer, with pretty much every inkfish in the games and even the bands being a teen or young adult. It would also mean that family dynamics would be entirely different from human ones even under the assumption that inkfish had close familial ties to past generations, because not having natural lifespans would mean you could have a mom, a grandma, a great-grandma, great-great-grandma, great-great-great-grandma..... list goes on, alive and present at the same time and just chilling. There's barely any mention of families or parents in Splatoon to begin with, but there's also been like zero implication of this. The concept of a grandpa DOES EXIST as we know from Callie and Marie, so we at least know that inklings live long enough to sometimes be grandparents, but not much else.

And this is fully contextual based on the fact that this is a teen oriented game where the players are teens, so of course i'm making this assessment, but inkling society in splatoon being SO oriented towards fast paced death sports and catering to teens and young adults at all times implies to me more that teens and young inklings are the vast majority, which in turn implies that they do have relatively short lifespans. The way turf wars are as popular as they are and how teenage inklings as a collective don't seem too concerned about their safety, Inklings are very much a 'live fast, die young' kind of species. At least that's what they seem to me.

However it's an awful coincidence that in a species, or two species in fact which are implied to have human lifespans, the only two old people we've seen are fucking 130 years old. That is unprecedented for a HUMAN not to mention a damn squid. They're both insanely old and seem to be doing just fine (even Cuttlefish, somehow). We know Cuttlefish's lifespan is not natural, but instead Inklings around the age of 50 partake in sun-drying, in which they dry out their bodies to preserve themselves longer, which... seems counterintuitive but it's a video game and theres a fish that got sliced in half and fried so i'm not going to spend too much trying to make sense of it. So yeah, we know that Inklings do have lifespans and are considered at least some form of old around 50, which to me implies that their natural high-end would probably be 80 years.

DJ Octavio is where it gets messy, because unlike cuttlefish, he is NOT sun-dried. He is presumably just as old but he's sitting pretty in a mech and dancing going insane and hosting DJ parties and whatever, he might as well be 20. But he's not, and he's like ancient, and he's NOT sun-dried, yet he's over a hundred years old and COMPLETELY FINE. And he IS an OCTOLING, not an artificial octarian, for which I wouldn't question stuff like this. It is possible and likely that the devs just didn't consider this when making him and simply wanted a funny octopus nemesis to rule the story mode, but it still makes the whole inkfish age thing really difficult to work with because based on just the observation of those two, 130 is apparently just a natural age for Octolings to reach whereas squids turn into dust after they turn 60 and die forever. And I don't think that's the case at all but alas, it's the situation we have JUST based on canon. It is possible that Octavio is living this long because of Octarians' biotechnological prowess and science, but that's just pointless theorizing as of now.

Anyway long ramble post but I still haven't made up my mind on what I actually want to headcanon, the game doesn't exactly make it easy...

The more you reveal of yourself, the more interested he is. You can see him, teasing apart sections of your brain, of your psyche, and lapping them up with intrigue. A kind person who can react emotionally and keep people's cruelty at a distance?

Everything he says is accompanied by a wide and curved grin that feels mischievous more than conniving or malevolent, and the only time it really falls to one of warmth and surprise is when you reveal more about yourself, things that he finds a lot in common with.

Your choice of literature is certainly on par with his. When he delves into fiction as opposed to his psychology textbooks and research works, he would definitely opt for a gothic, melancholic terror. In fact, he has his copy of Sleepy Hollow with him.

He's intellectual, and enjoys problem solving. And while you admit you might not be much help on the difficult ones he can't quite get as quickly as certain, green-donning colleagues, havinng some emotional support would be just as effective. And when you notice the excitement, you reach out to place your hand on top of his. It's cold, but you warm him up, and he is grateful for the connection.

Simon normally didn’t fall asleep until late or sometimes, he didn’t at all. Then you came around. When you got together he started sleeping more and felt comfortable enough to at least try and sleep. Some nights he just sits with his arms wrapped around you and lets his mind run.

Some nights Simon still has bad nightmares about his family and work. You will normally find him in the bathroom because he isn’t ready to show such a vulnerable side of him. When he hears your voice after a nightmare, telling him that it is going to be alright and that you are with him, he almost always finds comfort in your voice. He feels bad for waking you when he comes out so he makes tea for the both of you (even though you are normally passed out when he comes back).

He loves tea. Don’t tell anyone but he enjoys more floral/herbal teas but he will always fold for green tea. Tea is like his addiction I swear, he drinks it everyday. He finds drinking herbal teas embarrassing because of his reputation so if anyone (especially on his team) finds out, he would simply parish.

he loves musicals and again don’t tell anyone. going along with this, a personal pet peeve of his is when he is trying to watch the musical and someone else is singing to the song. I don’t know why it just irks him. His favourite musical is probably phantom of the opera.

To everyone else around him he is considered cold,harsh and sometimes emotionless, around other people he is Ghost. When he is around you however, he is Simon. You have him domesticated, he will cook for you if you ask, give you a massage if your mussels are sore, watch your favourite movies/read your favourite books so you can talk to him about them and he will understand, will run a bath for you if he thinks you need one, and will buy almost anything you ask.

Simon has super horrible ears because of his job. Even with the headphones, the sound of explosions,gunshots, and other extremely loud stuff is bound to damage his ears. I think he has tinnitus (ringing in ears caused normally by hearing loss) and wears hearing aids most of the time to stop the ringing.

When the both of you are cuddling in bed he will wrap his whole body around you like a weighted blanket. He does because he says if something ever happened you would be safe. He also refused to let you sleep closest to the door because again its to keep you safer.

When he is driving he always has his hand on some part of your body, most of the time its your thigh.

He loves to lay his head in your lap because it helps him relax. When lays his head in your lap please play with his hair, it literally brings him so much comfort and he will fully fall asleep after a while.

For date night, you both probably just cook dinner together and have a nice dinner date while you talk about anything and everything. The night normally ends with you two watching a movie while you’re cuddled into his side and him carrying you to bed.

His music taste is either metal or classical music and there is no in between. He loves Everlong by Foo Fighters so much though that you think he never stops playing it (I mean me too). He will listen to your favourite songs as well just to make you happy when you hear them as you are listening to his playlist.

He is surprisingly good a poetry and still writes poems sometimes. When he is away if you ask him to send you new poems, he will write a bunch of poems about you and send them back home for you to read. You have kept every single one of them and he gets happy when he remembers you have them all and genuinely love them.

He barely ever wears his mask around you anymore because he knows you will never judge him and you love him. He struggled to show you his face for the first time because he was SO scared of commitment and he knew once he took off the mask, there was no going back.

He has a motorcycle and regularly takes you for late night drives in empty streets where he knows the two of you can just live in the moment together.

Simon is not a fan of pda but every time you go out he holds your hand to keep you close to him. When he holds your hand he ALWAYS does the thumb thing because it helps ground him and so he knows you’re still there with him.

Speaking of public, you have mayor scary dog privilege. Tell me if you saw a big, scary, menacing looking figure with a skull mask just looming beside someone you wouldn’t immediately back off that person💀

I’m taking the idea where the Connection Orb shows all the Multi!Hero’s past connections and them doing extreme landscaping to accommodate any non-guild/main team teammates… and saying they ease down in Super. They were very full of spite and vinegar in Gates cause they were angry about the lack of accommodations toward other teammates. Now? It seems like wild Pokémon have adapted rather well. Maybe they inspired Gurdurr and the Gates partner to make towns a bit more tolerant of Wild Pokemon. Anyway, since their Partner’s a bit more excitable this time around—they focus more toward moves.

Except the easy way is never taken with a human around. Hero hears how Archen cannot fly normally, they take him aside and ask if he would be willing to try their idea to help him fly? He decided to humor the two kids. Hours later, Archen comes back completely exhausted yet with wind blown feathers. When asked if Hero & Partner were actually able to get him to fly. He answered with “kinda”. Hero’s initial idea of having Archen constantly channel Wing Attack/Bounce/Acrobatics to charge him with flying type energy worked a little too well.

He couldn’t quite keep it up. Okay. Hero decides to teach him Heat Wave (how the hell a Kid knows how to teach that without a TM, he doesn’t know) to make hot air he can glide on. Technically giving him perpetual flight, it worked, but burned his tongue. Okay—Tailwind is easier to maintain and he can kinda replicate the mysterious wind mystery dungeons make.

The Duo convinced Slurpuff to start her own farm so she can grow extra ingredients and in the process teach energy ball. Dedenne picks up Dazzling Gleam from Hero pitching the idea of her making light then trying to fill it with Fairy type energy. And so on—it becomes blatantly clear Hero is an absolute evil genius when it comes to teaching moves. Partner has learned moves that should normally only be egg moves. Hero freely coached the younger kids in town on how they can get the most out of a move.

…And then the Expedition Society members overhear Hero’s plan to make a “rideable” cloud like they once did in the Sky Tower. Okay, maybe Hero hasn’t totally cooled their jets.

(But for real I’m actually okay) I’m sorry, I know this is like, super specific but…well, I have many physical limitations, I have POTS, neuropathy, complex regional pain syndrome, EDS, my stomach organ doesn’t work properly and I throw up my food when I eat unless I lay down and try to sleep, or am very still while laying down, just, lots of things, I’ve had to be in a wheelchair for long periods of time many times, saying all of this to give you an idea how I’m rather…a weak individual overall, but I love to play and roughhouse I just gotta, be careful and I can’t do a lot at a time lol. Which is hard for me sometimes cause I’m EXTREMELY strong willed when it comes to just, grinning and bearing it, an basically am willing to kill myself from pushing myself too much cause I wanna bloody do what I want!

Okay so, how would Billy be with someone like that? Someone like me? Someone who has (lots of) leg troubles or who has heart problems or maybe you can’t be too too rough with cause of chronic pain? Would HE be the one too scared to mess with me? For fear of hurting me? Would he understand? I have my own ideas and hopes, but I freaking love the way you write him, so I gotta ask!

I wonder if it would make him almost…more willing to show himself sooner…cause I wonder if like…should Billy have an object of affection that he pines for and stalks from afar in his little attic nest, but his object of affection if one who kinda…has to limp and hobble or roll around in a chair and is slow and kind of sickly at times, I can’t help but wonder if he’d almost work himself up wanting to help, in his mind, in his own billy way? Hello!! Finally tumbrl let me answer this ask </3 sorry about the delay. I hope you are doing well, and you're recovery is going good!! I hope your knee is managing to heal :( As for Billy... yeah I do think he would show himself sooner to you!! Especially if he develops an obsession on you, cause alas, relationships with him would start off as obsessions </3 But yeah, he would take notice of how you appear to be sick more often than not, and at first it let's him put his guard down around you for a bit. If you're weak, it means you can't hurt him, right? But as time moves on and he develops a genuine fondness for you (a thing he thought he wasn't capable of) he would start trying to take care of you from afar. Leaving your meds close by so you aways have them at hand, adjusting the temperature of your room while you sleep, small stuff like that. I actually think that he wouldn't even reveal himself to you willingly, rather you catch him one day acccidentaly while he's trying to help you from the shadows. A terrifying moment for you both, but you'll laugh about it later.

And yes, he would feel personally responsible for you, and would look out to aways make you feel good or better. Maybe it would actually push him to seek help, go to a therapist maybe, so he could take even better care of you. Cause I can see him having a rough start in your relationship, with him being unstable making him isolate himself from you. One of the main things he fears is of course hurting you, from being too rough with you. I guess you could help help each other with that, you helping him take care of his mental health, him taking care of your physical health.

AND TO BE A KITTY WITH HIM!! It might take time for you to roughhouse together, since his fear of being too rough with you, but when he learns ro better control himself and trust himself, he might just bite back.

Arkady and he’s the main protag of SE and is…tbh the only normal person out of the entire cast. he’s just a normal superpower-less kid who gets involved in world altering events on accident becuz everyone else is mean to him and likes using him cuz he craves validation and can’t say no :( unfortunately for all the ppl who like pushing him around, he’s got extremely serious, repressed anger issues (due to his dad's emotional/verbal abuse and his mom abandoning the family) and is eventually pushed beyond his breaking point which at some point involves making a nuclear bomb so. good work guys-

he’s also super fucking smart and loves everything to do with science even tho he isn’t too good at math. he excels at biology and chemistry and likes to take home dead animals to cut open and look at. he also practices necromancy- he’s a distinguished little victor frankenstein just. one who doesn’t steal dead bodies v-v he particularly likes reviving dead cats (one of which becomes a supporting character at a later point) but other than natural sciences he's pretty adept at taking things apart and putting them back together. he can look at a radio and know exactly how it works and what the components are that make it function. he also loves fun facts and will randomly drop them on people, especially morbid ones that he finds 'funny and interesting' but isnt to others :( so while he's pretty intelligent he doesnt do well socially which resulted in him being bullied VERY badly when he was younger but he tries to take everything in stride....even tho he almost drowned once becuz of it and one other time almost beat someone unconscious during one of his 'rage blackouts' (he definitely fucking cried for like 3 days straight after that even tho he doesnt rmm)

while relatively normal he’s related to like, arguably the most powerful person in the world which is something he’s super unaware of. he’s the heir to a shit ton of scientific endeavors and intended future owner of ALL ANDROIDS. but again he’s unaware of this so when “certain things” tend to happen to him or around him he just tends to brush it off and doesn’t think it concerns him. the person who he’s related to, Lupe, is struggling to get into contact with him cuz 10 years ago she astral projected so hard she caused her subconscious (i’m not explaining) to time travel so. she’s just been in a coma for a long while annnnd she very much might never wake up again so OH WELL looks like her TRILLION DOLLAR FORTUNE is just in fucking limbo for now >:/

let's talk: canon events! how'd you get into the dream team? what brought you to dtblr?

oh god ok my like. origin story of how i started watching dteam is insanely convoluted so i’m going to put it under the cut and like. to preface i just need u to know i’ve never been normal about anything in my life like i am so completely incapable of having passive interests. that is really crucial to understand

ok. So. basically i’ve always been super into mcyt content, i was a Massive cube smp + cube uhc stan back when that was a thing, i was like. 12-14 at the time but i was on stan twitter, wrote rpf on wattpad, experienced the severe trauma of ccs i wrote about Finding my fic and talking about it very publicly. The whole experience. and then when cube smp started to die my overall mcyt interest heavily faded, i’ve still always been incredibly fixated on minecraft itself i used to be super into uhc and other competitive gamemodes but in terms of actually watching content creators that was like. something that kinda faded in and out i’d go through long phases of watching nothing at all sometimes for entire years then randomly get slapped by nostalgia and fall back into it and rewatch old series’, etc.

but anyway. i had other interests, i had a different main fandom, i was still on stan twitter (kpop twitter to be specific) when dream rly started blowing up and. All i ever heard abt him was negative. because i was. on kpop twitter where like everyone was just excited there was a New Most Hated Fandom on the internet so he was an extremely common punching bag and i just Solely knew of him in a negative light and i’d never actually watched him to form my own opinions because (and this sounds so absurd) i also had this very irrational Jealousy toward the like. “new wave” of mcyt stans in 2019-2020 because suddenly it was a COMMON mainstream fandom and it ABSOLUTELY WASNT back when /i/ was a teenager and at my peak obsession so therefore all i felt was very misplaced dislike because How come this massive fanbase wasn’t around when this was My interest ? anyway.

Then like. sometime still in 2020 ? my irl friend sent me a manhunt and was like u NEED to watch this (because all my irls know i am. Very abnormal about competitive minecraft content) and i was like. Huh is it time for me to finally watch this dream guy. and i watched it and well it was very inevitable i got hooked because manhunt is soooo comedically perfect in terms of how me-catered it is, it is Literally everything i could ever ask for in terms of youtube content so it was absolutely over for me and i binged the entire series over the course of like. a week. and at first i really did think i would just be a passive youtube fan, because again. all i’d ever heard about dream was that he was a Bad Person and therefore i really did Try not to get invested beyond just thinking the videos were good but ofc as soon as i finished watching every manhunt that was out at the time i moved onto other dteam videos and i just fell reallyyyyy really in love with their dynamic and it was like. MAN! i had to accept i was growing attached and i Wanted to know more abt them at this point. i watched every single video on dream’s channel by the time i accepted Okay im in too deep now i want to know more.

this is the part that is going to make me sound incredibly fuckin g crazy so i need u to just hear me out. so i started googling dream and looking at the dsmp wiki (because as a youtube-only viewer i knew Nothing about dsmp other than people on my side of twitter hating it) and i was so surprised to realize hbomb was a member i’m crying because i knew him from CUBE SMP!!!!!!! i was like whta the fuck. now i feel Obligated to care like this is my Past combining with the present… it’s like fate… so then. naturally. i Looked up like. Reasons Dream Is Problematic threads on twitter. because i was like if im going to do this i need to know what exactly i am going into here i want to know why this dude is so hated and i unironically went through every single thread and callout post i could find, looking at Every reason someone gave for hating him then looking up the original clip with full context and watching it for myself so i could make my own judgement of it and also looking into how he responded and that was how i realized Oh like 87% of this is exaggerated and the stuff that’s true is either kind of nothing or he seems to be trying to do better. And that was how i decided. He is just some guy who seems very well-meaning and is making efforts to Grow and Now i can allow myself to . watch his stream vods? i know ho w crazy this sounds im crying but u need to understand i genuinely waited to watch any vods and grow attached to his content in a non-casual way until after i was SURE no secret horrible misdeeds were going to catch me off guard and i’d realize i didn’t actually want to support him i’m fucking crying

and then naturally ijust got incredibly fixated on mcc when i discovered That and that was what led me to watching a ton of other streamers, i was never super into dsmp but i Did get very into watching non-lore dsmp vods and just. tons of vods in general. i got severely fixated on mcsr around this time too which was awesome until it Wasn’t and i made a lurker account on twitter like literally a priv with 0 followers where i only followed ccs because i didn’t want to follow them from my acct with all my kpoptwt mutuals and get Called a freak for supporting dream. i also kept up very closely with any drama/situations involving dream even before being on dttwt in any capacity because again. i just like to have full context for everything so this was like. when i was unfortunately a very active dwt2 user because that was mostly how i stayed in the loop with things and tbf at the time it was actually a pretty good place for nuanced discussion this was before it got terribly unbearable but. Yeah. i started reading heat waves “ironically” while it was ongoing like i was reading it bookclub-style with my dranti friends and pretending i knew nothing abt dream or george outside the context of the fic (I AM TERRIBLE) but i ended up getting curious about what other fics were out there and that was how i started reading dnf earnestly.

i didn’t start writing until wayyyyy later after i came out of the dream stan closet to my friend reyna (still the only one of my kpoptwt-era friends who knows i am. the way that i am) in like. mid 2021? and i got them invested in dteam too and then in december 2021 we made our ao3s + new twitter accts together and both started writing fics

as for dtblr in specific i am relatively new here i guess ! i have been a long time lurker as i’ve always preferred tumblr for fandom discussion compared to twitter but i was always too shy to actually make my own account andddd because i started on twitter and had exclusively used twitter in my previous fandom it just like. Came more naturally to me and it’s so good for fic promo i just. Accepted it. but then after october several of my friends and like at least half of my mutuals at the time all became antis and once i was back to feeling. normal about consuming fandom content in like late october early november i desperately wanted to have a place where i wasn’t being made to feel GUILTY constantly so i finally made an acct over here so i’d have at least one space where i could Talk Freely about fandom things without expecting 10 people to tell me to kms for it. (don’t worry i eventually did finally make a new priv and i’m no longer held hostage by ex-stan mutuals on twitter but it was ROUGH at the time like so many of my friends have told me they assumed i’d just lost most of my interest and was only still in the fandom for the sake of writing because i never talked abt anything anymore for so long IT WAS BAD I JUST FELT SILENCED but im free now i promise) so yeah.

but don’t worry now i am here less out of “i have nowhere else to go” necessity and actually just because i Do enjoy it and i prefer it immensely to maintwt i am so content now with basically solely talking abt fandom things here and on my privtwt and just using main for fic talk life is beautiful !

Honestly, this is a difficult question because I never thought about flowers and have no idea what they symbolize XD

Anyway, I looked for their meanings online and since you didn’t specify the character, I’m gonna take all the main characters from Was Born To Lead plus Leticia (no Fausto or Verónica, because neither of them has a well-thought personality yet).

Valerio.

Honestly, Valerio is the easiest and the hardest at the same time because I have a lot to say about him, therefore, it's hard to choose just one flower that would embody him in all his depth ×) yet who said I'm supposed to choose just one >:)

Angelica - this flower symbolizes inspiration in the first place. Valerio is encouraging, he always sees one's strenghts and helps them to direct them into the right way. Being helpful to others is the meaning of his life, so I think this flower is a good choice for him.

Marigold - honestly, I hesitated to choose this flower, because it has an important meaning for the existing holiday and associating my character with it is kinda weird. Anyway, it symbolizes many things that I associate with Valerio like grief, restoration/renewal, positivity. Despite being a symbol of death, it carries a bright meaning, and Valerio, despite going through so many horrible things in his life, stayed a warm and kind person, so I think it really fits him well.

Lotus - it symbolized rebirth, enlightenment, self-realization, and new beginnings. I know it might not seem fitting for him for now, but the main point of Valerio's story is to find his true purpose in life. He never did what he wanted when he was a child/teen, he went through trauma that made him run from his problems instead of dealing with them, which definitely doesn't allow him to live the way he would like. But one day, he'll be happy. Truly happy (also daffodils symbolize something similar and I want to include it, too, maybe even instead of lotus, because lotus has several different meanings)

And also amaranth because it symbolizes undying love 💔

Ángel - sunflower.

Honestly, I thought of this flower for Ángel even before I started looking for the meanings XD Sunflower is a symbol of happiness, optimism, and devotion, and I think all of this describes Ángel quite well.

Frida - lavender.

Lavender is a symbol of calmness, serenity, silence, and devotion. It also represents elegance, and Frida is quite feminine, so I think it fits her.

Matías - valerian.

Oh yeah, that rare flower that doesn't symbolize love and purity ×)

Matías was extremely hard because most of flowers that represent strength (which definitely applies to him) also imply courage, endurance, strong will, and other stuff like this. Well, yeah, it does fit him but these are not the main aspects of his personality. He's rather grounded, practical, and rational than ambitious and success-driven.

So, I chose valerian because in the first place it symbolizes strength, awareness, health, and integrity that I think fits him the best, knowing how, to be fair, "normal" he is.

Emilio - begonia.

First of all, it symbolizes caution, and I think it fits Emilio, knowing how incredulous he is. But it also a symbol of individuality (which allow me to interpret both as loneliness and creativity), gratitude, and peace. Yeah, the last two ones don’t really fit but just wait for the conclusion of Emilio’s story~

Leticia - lupine.

I know she appeared just once and it was in a flashback but I adore her and can’t help but include her.

Lupine symbolizes imagination, happiness, admiration, new opportunities, and a hunger for life, and I end here so I don’t spoil you too much yet give you a clearer picture of her :3
