Sorry I'm actually obsessed with the Daiyu-Baoyu theory and I'm rotating it in my head forever. I'm not sure if I'm actually onto anything here but when thinking about it I recalled this CG from the TGS trailer

and I remember thinking about how odd this picture seems because it's so Un-Hong Lu-like. Because from what we've seen, Hong Lu has never even gotten close to being this angry. And yet, they showed us this picture in a trailer before the game even released. It's obviously something they wanted us to see and keep in mind. But so far, there doesn't seem to be anything we can think of that can draw this kind of reaction out of Hong Lu, who seems to just redirect or avoid upsetting topics altogether.

When reading your theory, I remembered this CG and noticed that he's facing the right, meaning we can't see his jade eye. This isn't the first time they've obscured something important from us in the trailer (e.g., Don Quixote's eyes), so it's not a stretch to say they're intentionally hiding his eye. This suggests that something might be up with it in this scene that we aren't supposed to know yet, like, for example, being removed.

If we assume that Baoyu's memories are in his eye, which has been put in Daiyu's body, as well as Kurokumo Hong Lu's attitude being the most Daiyu-like, then it would explain this CG a lot better, because it's not really Hong Lu or Baoyu. It's Daiyu.

Sorry for the very long ask, I got excited. Again, I'm really just rambling and speculating. What I do know is that I'm really enjoying this theory, and thinking about writing a fanfic with the premise because it is so fascinating to me!

Funny you bring up that CG in particular, since the subject of it has come up on this blog before! That being said, I unfortunately can't find the exact post where I talked about it, so I might as well do so again - especially since we now also have more insight on Hong Lu as a characer.

The full CG that cut-in comes from can be seen in the Story Demo video for the Alpha Version of Limbus, as a preview CG for the 1-5 node on the very early version of Canto 1's Story Node map.

Notably, this CG does not appear in any Cutscene/Story Demo videos post the TGS Teaser, meaning the CG must have been scrapped at some point between that Alpha Version demo and the post TGS Teaser demo. Whether it was scrapped after it was used for the Teaser, meaning it was still part of the story at the time, or whether it was scrapped before but PJM decided something about that particular image of Hong Lu was important enough to the Teaser to include it anyway, is something I don't think we'll ever know.

Unfortunately, with how early the CG seems to have originally been placed in the story, I doubt it has anything to do with Daiyu specifically. However, I do now have my own theory of what that cutscene might have entailed, as well as why that would contribute to it being scrapped.

Judging by the leftmost panel, it's easy to deduce this was where Yuri's backstory was originally meant to be explained, as in the whole site burial and survivor's guilt thing would be brought up. The fact that the explanation would later be moved to be inside the Dungeon rather outside would on its own be a good reason to scrap the CG, but there's something else about it that I realized only recently.

In the game proper, Yuri reveals her trauma almost exclusively to Gregor (and initially Ishmael), as all the other Sinners have already passed out due to the gas grenade. However, in the hypothetical scrapped scenario where the reveal came outside the Dungeon, every Sinner would have a chance to hear it and react to it.

So, what kind of reaction would fit the other two panels on the CG? The middle panel of Rodya comforting an uncomfortable looking Yuri while Hong Lu looks innocently confused, followed by a panel with the angriest looking Gregor we've ever seen clashing with the angriest looking Hong Lu we've ever seen?

Here's what I think could have originally happened in that scene (and this is Entirely Speculation, we have no proof of this actually being the case):

I believe, after sharing her story, especially the point about trying to escape the site burial, Mr. Hong 'I am always ready to accept my own death' Lu would act confused and ask something along the lines of "Why didn't you just stay?" or a variant of such. Why didn't you just accept it, why didn't you just let it happen, why did you try to fight it, etc. Essentially asking why, if Yuri was going to feel such guilt for surviving the ordeal, would she ever bother trying to survive in the first place.

This would, understandably, piss Gregor the fuck off, as he himself holds a good deal of guilt for the fact he participated in the War and survived through it. There's a high chance of him trying to verbally rip into Hong Lu, to tell him that he has No Idea what it's like to have to live day by day trying to survive just long enough to see tomorrow, what it's like to have one's life turned into hell without them having any choice on the matter, what it's like to feel the need to run away despite knowing that it will leave them with the guilt of not being able to save anyone else. He's some sheltered rich kid after all, how could he know what it's like to actually suffer?

And I think something like that would be enough for Hong Lu's facade to crack. Because no, Gregor is wrong. Hong Lu knows exactly what it's like, more than anyone should know he does. He might not even be responding with much in this cutscene, even just a hostile "You know nothing about me and my life." would be enough to set the tone. That whatever is going on behind that smile of his is so much worse than what it seems.

...And that's why I think it was scrapped. Because a peek behind Hong Lu's mask in Canto 1 would be too early.

Hong Lu's slow unraveling of his lies is just that - slow. It took us until Just This Recent Canto to get a somewhat clear confirmation that no, the info he gives about his Family is not to be trusted. It took until Canto 3 to see him be the only Sinner actively willing to lie and until Canto 4 to show us he's a good actor. Revealing that Hong Lu has a very different side to him underneath the curious cheerful persona as early as Canto 1 would completely alter the pacing and trajectory of his arc. You'd have a reason to suspect him from the beginning, rather than have a chance to be just as fooled by him as Dante and the other Sinners are.

So no, I don't think that CG is meant to show Daiyu. But I do think that CG was meant to be our first hint to the fact that Hong Lu isn't being honest with the others, at least until it was decided it was too soon for such a reveal.

I love your specific interpretations of ezra (like the one where you gave him feline traits) and i love how you make him interact with others characters (the leia beyblade comic, that one with thrawn and ezra). HOLDUP. let the skybridger fans cook i want to see this. the fact you draw them in funny situations but also in comics that almost seem like…poetic is so good i love the range you can portray. Leverage, the Expanse, just finished up IWTV season 2 not too long ago, rewatching Steven Universe: Future, but me and my roomie kind of put that on hold when the spideytorch server I’m in turned me on to Spider-Man: The Animated Series (1994) and I. Fucking. Love. It. Peter’s so yappy and inwardly monologing and whiny and it’s so so so good for it.

Currently craving: Was craving some pistachio ice cream recently so I got that. Really hit the spot.

Coffee or Tea:  BOTH!! I like coffee more, but to pretend I’m not a lover of tea is nonsense. In fact, with the right tea you can totally get the coffee experience. In fact, if I had to choose for one to continue to exist and one to not, it’d probably be tea that I’d deem worthy of continuing on because it’s such a diverse drink anyway.

Hobby To Try: Well I like drawing, so I’ve been sort of dipping my toes into comic making. I made probably my first real legit little comic (like four panels nothing crazy but more than I’ve done before) about a young Peter B Parker and bisexual panic moment. Might post it on my art blog at some point. Spent a bunch of time practicing Peter’s facial expression too to get comfortable with drawing him and find an easy style for comics

Also, current takes on Steel Ball Run so far (for context of where we're at, we just got done with with Wekapipo/Magenta Magenta fight, so if it seems like I'm missing something, that's why)

Yeah, people were right about this part being pretty damn peak. The fights remain incredibly interesting. Despite going into it knowing a lot about the different stands and what they do and some of the plot beats, the story still finds ways to surprise me.

My favorite stand is obviously Mandom (like, come on, what a cool ass stand), although in terms of actual fights, I think everything with Blackmore was incredible, including the fight that happened as a buildup to Blackmore. I also absolutely have to mention how this part so far has shown how INSANELY good Araki is at writing tension. The way that he composes some shots during the Lucy side story are incredible to me.

I completely understand why people love Gyro as much as they do. I'm a little bit biased since I've imprinted on him a little bit (and my bf has REALLY imprinted on Johnny), but even without that, the love is well-deserved. It's pretty clear that over the course of Part 6, Araki learned how to write a dynamic protagonist, and he cranked it up for SBR!

The last thing I want to mention is regarding a theory that I saw that I 100% subscribe to, but I know Sen reads my blog and is probably reading this right now (hey honey <3), and it involves information that he doesn't know yet, so if you want to decode it, copy and paste it here and hit decode.

ive read every issue of warlock, every issue of gotg v1 and v2, the gotg xmen crossover thing with kitty pryde, infinity gauntlet, infinity war 1992, all of the strange tales stuff w warlock, the conquest annihilation and thanos imperative stuff, the annihilation thing with wraith, annihilation earthfall, one run of star lord... i dont even remember which one it was cz im intending to go thru all those again later when im done w warlock stuff anyway cz i wanna reread all the gotg stuff, thanos 2019, thanos the infinity revelation (still need to finish that entire bunch of comics), and gotg v5. i skipped ahead for that one coz i saw little magus and was going to fucking EXPLODE if i didnt see it immediately. which btw gotg v5 is by far my least fav thing ive read, i hated it except for the magus stuff which was actually what id been wanting them to do in my own ramblings @ someone who is willing to listen to me word vomit without knowing what tf im talking abt. so i think they did magus super super good and exactly how i wanted bt i literally hated everything else abt it LOL the dialogue is so.... eugh. but hey wraith was there and they drew him hot. WONDERFUL COLOURS AMAZING SHAPES LOVE EVERY PART OF IT SOOOO MUCH. i am talking a lot abt the art bt i am. an artist. meagre tho i may be since i rarely push myself and ive never truly made an effort. bt seeing this kind of stuff gives me motivation for like 5 minutes before i give up again and thats more than most of the things in my life do. unsurprisingly, american mcgees alice is another big one for me there. bt thats neither here nor there. anyway i think the art and weird abstract compositions are VITAL to the storytelling and it would be much lesser a story without them, coz its a literal reflection of adams own mind and goddddd its so fun. so yeah. its likeeee.... sry im a massive gamer so this is just the best way i can think of to explain it. its like how gameplay is supposed to reflect the story and the world of the game u are playing, these things are supposed to be in synergy. and when they ARE it feels soooooooooo so so good and Right. its not abt stuff feeling realistic or looking correct its about the Feeling of it. the fantasy of it. the art matches the writing perfectly in the magus saga and its elevates it so much. its what makes adam an irresistible character to me, warlock and magus both.

💀 School..

Yeap as I've said I'm in school so that's still in progress, I have completely no idea what I'm doing everyday and as it turns out no time to worry about it either I got deadlines baby!!!

I mean in theory I understand but it's all a big question mark to me, like i need to be reassured like a nervous dog that I'm doing the right thing and what not

And because of that I'm real sorry about pushing the Abacelsus zine to the back burner, I actually got quite a lot of it done before I had to lock in for school of course.

And though I said I had a lot of sketches I didn't post well they were shittier than I liked them to be so I wanted to make it look nicer. Oh well dems the breaks.

Another screenie of my school work, they didn't really go into depth about how to specifically design stuff so it's basically me frankenstien-ing stuff I've seen existing and just trying my best lol

I mean.. overall it's funnnn... i guess... I do like projects but everyone in my class are adults with established jobs or goals. Even those who are around my age seem to know what they're aiming for too, feels like I'm an unemployed little sucker fumbling in the dark. Can be humiliating I won't lie, why is learning something new so embarrassing?

Aside from that I'm seeing people be so social online while studying too and it's almost mesmerizing, it's definitely survivor bias but those that can balance it are fascinating to me.

🙏for the people who were not at the convention, can you give a rundown on what Pradulum was about?

Hello again! Sorry for not touching the blog for months, I've been in and out of it lol.

I didn't attend SDCC nor NYCC to pick up a copy of Praludium myself, but my dear friend Lucy did! As far as I know, no panel was held specifically about it but this Ashcan is about the first time Sam killed. Please read it before continuing to read my thoughts and my analysis of it.

general BTTWNS trigger warnings but also (animal) abuse and eating disorder mentions.

The logline is essentially what you get- the first time Sam ever killed. From the title and cover released at the time of its announcement alone, I was wondering in what context or situation would Sam choose to start killing? This takes place of course during her travels in the 1960s, specifically Germany 1962. We only had these 3 preview pages to go off of and I was worried it would be because of sinister implications.

But it just turns out to be a fairly innocent camping trip.

I want to immediately talk about Otto first because he makes a very interesting first victim. I don't like him as a character but he is well written enough to be believable and real. Unlike Daniel who's a friendly stranger who wants to help, Otto is a local who offers Sam a private spot to camp in with him at the Black Forest. He's a friendly hippie and is immediately so accommodating almost to the point of talking over his guest. He also seems to have a crush on Sam.

But he's selfish. He doesn't fully understand Sam's situation of course to be more sensitive but he only half-listens, and diverts conversations to himself when Sam begins to open up about her problems and needs.

Am I saying he deserved to be killed for talking over Sam? Of course not. However, his behavior towards her could be a contributing reason as to why she chose to kill him now. The things he told her followed her far into her 40s and I would understand the kind of mark that made on her emotionally but it's not a reason or justification for murdering him. Everyone's selfish and insensitive, especially if we're trying to impress somebody we like.

As I mentioned in my Lola analysis, I believe Sam was abused at a young age or pressured to be good because of an unknown family incident that caused them to earn a negative reputation in the present. Perhaps the easiest way to make amends and to gain rapport back in Woodbrook is to be useful to the community hence the shop. She HAS to be that pillar of good because she was never given an option to be anything else. This burns her up emotionally to the point of suppressing her own desires. This could have been another career path, another life outside Woodbrook, friends, and the suppression even leads her to developing an eating disorder.

Although this could be interpreted too as a metaphor for the apatite to kill and I believe that as well but also considering the social climate in the 1960s it wouldn't be a stretch either. To be abused so much to the point you've learnt to deprave yourself until somebody corners you and tells you to take what you want anyway.

But to have Otto who she could have considered a friend and perhaps being the only other person (other than Lola) to open up about her frustrations could have meant a lot to her but to just be fawned over like an object instead of reciprocating the emotional support she needed, killing became her outlet and in turn made her emotionally mask and throw back the same uncaring or neutral reassurance she was told 24 years ago.

AGAIN, OTTO DID NOT MEAN TO HURT SAM OR TALK OVER HER. THIS IS NOT A JUSTIFICATION FOR HER ACTIONS MOVING FORWARD.

Praludium is also an interesting side story to me as it reinforces Sam's fondness for Nature (as well as her being Nature). She's had nobody to rely on emotionally her entire life that Nature as a being and a force is her only comfort. She looks up to wild bears and talks to them with a sort of reverence, meaning that the way she lives (in isolation, in selfishness and dominance) closely mirrors them because all she knows to live among people is through shallow observation. She's not gonna bother really socializing and having a life outside of Nature because what is there if everyone's out to get her or step on her.

So it's best to act like a bear. Take what you want because you have the power to do so.

Praludium is just an incredibly bittersweet short story that adds a lot more nuance to Sam as a character. I mentioned in my Lola essay that I do not fully agree with the statement that she's always been a blank slate or a cold person because this story opens up a what if. Yknow? What if Otto did listen and actually sorted it out fully instead of flirting? Would that have changed anything? What if Sam rebelled or took earlier? What if she just asserted herself in the first place? Would that have changed anything? Probably not because again, Sam was conditioned to not want. And that pent up frustration translates into violence.

I've said this on my main blog but I've come across a zoo's account that's fairly popular on tiktok, youtube shorts, and instagram that posts baby brown bears dressed up like toddlers, in cribs, on swings, or in tight, small enclosures with tiger cubs. They've posted videos of the zookeepers throwing around the bear cubs, hitting them, or filming them when they're in distress. One particular video stands out as a cub charges at the camera, splashing themselves in milk when they see a zookeeper then biting another cub out of frustration. It's a fear response. What else can a bear do but bite?

The ending is just very bittersweet to me. Of course, Jesus Christ, this is the FIRST of a 20+ year run of murdering people horrifically and a drastic, tragic heel turn and yet.

The comfort of Nature follows you as well.

I did a poll earlier about whether or not this should have prizes, and the answer was overwhelmingly yes! How many people joining will affect how many winners, but right now I'm thinking there will only be one

Do you happen to have a list of reasons why the spiderman/Deadpool comic is ass because I haven't read it in forevers and I seriously can't remember all the details anymore😭😭 TRYING to convince my friend who's only read that comic and none of the others that it's not good but it's so embarrassing since I don't really have any good reasons with the panels to prove it💔💔 Anyways I figured I'd give asking you about it a shot since your always writing your paragraphs upon paragraphs about comics... Maybe you have a list or something. Plus I think the way you talk about things is nice n easy to understand. :3

bless you @deadpoolpie! i do think it's always best to form your own opinions about things but i'll never miss an opportunity to dunk on sm/dp because i'm always perpetumad about all the POTENTIAL and marvel just. never delivering.

i'm not going to do panels, because - that series is such a mess that i can't even bare to go through it again. i just can't do it. it's practically indecipherable.

so. i think the first misstep in sm/dp was the timing. it was just, ultimately, the worst time to start a sm/dp series. the spider-man and deadpool series did not work because spider-man and deadpool were not working in their own series either. it was the least spider-manny and deadpooly that spider-man and deadpool have ever been. spider-man was running parker industries, being a billionaire and basically, being entirely what peter parker was never meant to be. and deadpool was a member of the avengers, was also kind of a multi-millionaire - had employees on payroll, had a wife and a kid, and ultimately was busy being entirely not what deadpool should be, either.

it was a bad time to do a spider-man and deadpool series, because spider-man and deadpool were not, presently, spider-man and deadpool.

2. joe kelly is bad at writing spider-man. he's good at writing deadpool. he's good at that. but he is so. abysmally bad at writing spider-man, particularly when spider-man is standing next to deadpool.

joe kelly will, without fail, make spider-man look like an ableist jackass and - honest to god, do very little that makes us like him. i can't think of a single moment in the spider-man and deadpool series were peter parker is sympathetic. the only time he's ever painted favourably is when he is apologising to deadpool for being wrong. and he is. consistently wrong. he doesn't have a single moment in that series where he is not wrong.

3. don't like healed wade. think it's stupid. think the reasoning is god awful too, and you would not believe the number of asks i've gotten on the blog because of this, in the vein of "wow... wade's only scarred because he doesn't love himself... wade... why don't you try loving yourself..."

i want to boil spider-man alive for this scene specifically

5. the jokes aren't funny. this is subjective but. the jokes aren't funny. it doesn't land for me. it's dated pop-culture references and just... i don't know, i guess i'm not who it's for. i don't know who the jokes are for, but, not me. and i think most people i've spoken to who DO play overwatch throw up in their mouths whenever i whip out this panel.

6. i know there are other bits of this series not written by joe kelly. i don't like those bits either. i don't think they're as egregious because i don't know. kelly was setting the tone and the other guys were just picking up an already underwhelming series. by the time the other guys picked up the writing i'd already jumped ship. i already wanted nothing to do with the series. i've tried reading the series, start-to-finish, but - it really gives me no pleasure at all. there's nothing in there i like. like. nothing at all. and those readers i spoke to that HAVE managed to subject themselves to the whole series have all said they're ultimately disappointed. and yeah. i don't imagine it going any other way.

i kind of love myself too much to fester over this series and force myself to hate read it. there's so much good content out there i haven't read yet. so why force myself to partake of the bad. it's not my obligation. if it's bad and i don't like it, then it's bad and i don't like it. self care is choosing to forget that the sm/dp series exists and moving on with love in my heart and sunshine in my mind

Just watched the Tumblr Live QnA Panel, and here's some of my thoughts:

* Had to toggle on Tumblr Live to watch and agree to the terms.

The stream itself was a little low quality visually, not terrible, but either they used a low quality camera or streaming isn't up to the same quality as other sites like Tiktok

* the gifting feature that mimics Tiktok was obnoxious. Users that seem to use Tumblr Live a lot where using gifts very often. The gift icons would take up most of the screen covering chat.

Some people in chat suggested that the gifters were Staff plants to make the site seem more popular than it is. There is no way to verify if they are or are not. But these individuals talked in the chat about how they use Tumblr Live all the time, and some dont even have blogs they only use Live. Which is????

I don't like the gifting emojis. But i dont like them on Twitch or tiktok either, so shrug emoji, i guess

Questions Answered (that i remember)

* The Chronological Dashboard will stay. They mentioned this several times that tumblr, while they are going to improve the For You algorithm, the main Chronological Dashboard will not change.

* Tumblr Live apparently isn't blocked in Europe and is just waiting for approval, which is soon. They said it being blocked was misinformation. (Which i have no way to verify.)

* LGBTQA+ and specifically Trans content getting flagged or censored is a bug, apparently. They said it happens from time to time, but reporting should fix it. Users in the chat were unhappy with this answer since the issue has lasted for such a long time and doesn't seem or feel random. But they did not comment further.

* Tumblr posts being collapsable was not super addressed. They sort of skimmed over this question and just said that they try lots of new features to see what works and what doesn't. Apparently, there will be a toggle to turn this feature on or off.

* Tumblr Groups was addressed. It was shut down because not enough users used the feature.

Apparently, not many users use Tumblr Live either, but they want to keep working on it to make it appealing.

* Another bit about Tumblr Live. CEO essentially said they will not give the option to permanently toggle off the feature.

One user had asked if Tumblr had investors. CEO said, "Of course."

CEO did mention they "might" add a way to permanently turn off tumblr live. But it if they did, it would be a paid option over $20.

* One user commented that they are epileptic and that certain ads trigger their seizures because of the flashing colors and wanted to know what they would do for this issue. Tumblr CEO said "Well you could pay for No Ads."

CEO talked about paying to go ad free a lot. Saying only 25 thousand users pay for it at the moment.

Personally, it seems really irresponsible to suggest that the only way to fix an accessibility issue is for a user to pay money. As if disabled people dont have to pay enough as it is.

* I had asked if they were willing to work with more artists for Merch and Badges. They said they are working on it and there is a feature called Creatr that is set up to uplift creators and work with them on merch ideas.

I've never heard of Creatr. He seemed like we should have known what it was? Maybe they should promote that more. I know we all want more ways to support artists.

* More Badges and Achievements are coming. Apparently, a Legacy Badge that shows how long you've been on tumblr is in the works. (Im personally very excited about Badges.)

* Tumblr is thinking bout doing more QnA and even meet ups at different conventions and some even at the headquarters themselves. (They did not acknowledge questions that asked for a Headquarters video tour.)

Anyways, that was about all I can remember. Staff didn't record the panel, so hopefully, one of the other users did.

They talked about other random stuff. Calling out gifters specifically and rambling about donuts and books.

Oh, also, they brought a ball pit. Which is, yeah. Lol

I just noticed your reblog about some "etiquette" around fics and reblogs, and how so many writers are leaving. I have always been a "silent" reader, in the way that I don't reblog everything I read. I am quite... Picky with the content I read and interact. If I like something, I reblog, and if I really like something, I reblog with a ton of tags. I don't send asks, but I sure as hell clog the tags with my rumbling lol

But reading the post... Is this an acceptable way of interacting? Is it preferable to send asks instead of using the tags?

I understand your opinion may not reflect what other writers think, but you are one of the few I actively check time from time. I have always leaned towards being a "silent" reader, not reblogging as much as I should because, as I said, I am picky. I already refrain from reading a lot of fics because I don't like them, and I don't reblog the ones I don't, which I understand may not be the best. After all, I do want to support the people who have the courage to post their works here.

A long time ago I was a writer here on Tumblr, but for another fandom. In the end I dropped it bc I ventured in writing smut, but my bf got a little bit annoyed at it, and I chose to respect his feelings instead of keep posting. Now I keep my works in private (super private), but I have always admired those who venture themselves in posting. I know how hard it is.

So, I want to do more. Especially now that we are getting in a war against ai. Just not sure how to do more.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling. I was rereading some of your works, I love all of them so much!!! If anything, always be sure that you are an amazing writer. I wish you a wonderful new year, and days filled with happiness 💕

firstly, thank you so much for sending in an ask and sharing your thoughts. i know what it's like being a silent reader because i started as one myself, and i always thought 'what difference does my one interaction make?'

being a 'picky' reader is definitely okay. everyone has certain genres or criteria they lean towards when reading, and that goes the same for literally anything in life where we have a choice-we usually stick with our preferences and what we know we will like. i myself am also choosy with what i read. also, wanting your blog to be a carefully-curated reflection of the absolute gems you find is also okay. that is your blog and nobody can tell you otherwise

but i think one of the root problems (and this is in no way pointing fingers at you specifically) with the whole 'interaction etiquette' is how the like and reblog features are viewed, and how the fandom itself is running

the whole point of atinyblr is to interact with one another, form connections and curate a community. we are lucky to have content creators (eg. fic writers, gif makers, fan artists) making and sharing with the community for free in their own time. relationships are formed through interacting with one another-by giving feedback, leaving comments, reblogging and sending asks. as a writer, i love when i see a notification come through with a username or an anon tag that i recognise, because that is the connection i have formed with them. i know they love to talk about my fic and they know i love to talk about their feedback. that is the love that we show one another as a community

the likes and reblogs are not meant to be viewed as 'awards' or 'grades' that are being handed out to writers. we're not uploading our homework to be marked or to earn a prize. the 'like' function was never even meant to exist, and the reblogs should not be used as an indicator of whether a fic deserves feedback in the tags or not. writers are writing for fun and readers are reading for fun-we're not here to try and impress a panel of judges who are comparing our fics against a scoring criteria

also, we don't need to pit asks against reblogs. the 'to a dying? atinyblr' post raises awareness of how much effort, time and hard work is put into each and every single fic that has been posted. it highlights (amongst several other points) how important feedback is, whether it be asks, comments or reblogs with tags, and is encouraging readers to show more love to fics, even if just to the fic genres they do not venture from

sure, as i said before, maybe you want to keep your blog solely limited to the really good content you love. but there are plenty of other ways to still show your support to writers whilst keeping that space for yourself:

create a side blog! it doesn't need to have any affiliation to your main blog, so you can easily reblog anything and everything that you come across

start using tags to organise the content on your own blog. lots of people reblog with tags like 'faves, ultimate faves, recs, etc' and not only does it help you sift through your reblogs easier, but it means you can reblog something you liked but is not necessarily a fave

if you really do not want to reblog for some reason, even just leaving a comment or sending in an ask is appreciated because you are still letting the writer know that you like their work. all in all though, reblogs with tags are what help writers because it increases exposure and reach

again, thank you for taking the time and the courage to send in this ask, and for enjoying my works. i appreciate that you are wanting to do more for the writers of this community, so i am hoping that you can consider the points above <3

Before catformers I really just wanted to re-design a bunch of characters, and have people ask for specific characters to be redesigned. Like man idk which ones I wanna do. I really enjoy my OCs, so this would include drawing them and answering questions about them. Also in this is talking about the AUs and headcanons for all of the characters, including ships and such. So it’s not all OC stuff okay also others. I draw also your ships and headcanons!! (Rarepairs, hell yes! Proshippers, get the hell off of my page 🥰🙏) Will I draw your ocs? Mayhaps I will. tyyy, you flatter me too much... tbf even though i study math im pretty bad at it so i dont get everything either& half of what i write is abuse of notation lol

as for mathematics posting, unfortunately ive been sick on and off for the last 3 months and also very busy, so i didnt get to continue the tama series (im hoping to add it eventually, but right now its just the first installment). my other misc gintamaposting, including math posting (everything is math posting to me even if it isnt), is under “goose tag” in my archive if youd like to check it out. there’s also this compendium* i made of things i think are gintama math posting from other gintama mathematicians i love and admire. (*from early 24 so not updated since then- so not comprehensive)

as for shouyou=gintoki, i havent written on this specifically since it’s just something i carry with me always… in the first, in 519-20 when takasugi sees shouyou in his eye, in the next panel he sees gintoki in that exact position. to me, the first time i watched that, it just sort of clicked.

philosophically, gintama has this theme of what makes someone human. i feel like humanity here must be given to you by someone else (you have to be Named by them)— and it sort of aligns with the passing of promises (4devas, coan flashback)— that is, the passing of someone’s will. jirocho promises otose’s husband to protect kabukicho, which is otose’s husband’s will, and then gintoki promises jirocho to do the same, etc. similarly, gintoki upholds shouyou’s promise to protect their friends— which i am inclined to think is at least partially constitutive of shouyou’s person. that is, shouyou strove against utsuro to love and protect humans, which is what differentiated him from utsuro and eventually made him human (through gintoki, who makes him human). so gintoki receives shouyou’s promise, which is shouyou’s self (“a samurai is one who disciplines their weaker self”—follows this promise—self tied to promise), and on the cliff he acts it out. ie, by participating in shouyou’s will gintoki becomes shouyou. as do many people in gintama. and none at all. anyways unfortunately im sick and low energy so this is a bad explanation but hopefully that makes sense? Im sure joelle has written on this as well, as a heads up id just check with him to make sure he’s okay with spam notifs before going through his blog.

Hi hi hello Cambria here on my main blog I have zero braincells to add any thoughts to this message but what are your Clara Thornton thoughts specifically I loved your comic so so much and that you even thought to make comparison between her and that phenomenon with birds it is so unnerving and also the panel at the end with Jackson and her having the same expression ….. AAHHH anyways. I am always here to talk about Clara and GTH if you have more thoughts this is me asking you to please share them and I will listen

OH MY GOD THANK YOU ily cambria GOD i wish we knew more concrete stuff about her childhood so that there was more to discuss. like surely there was some real and not just perceived form of alienation between Clara herself and her cousins' family when she was taken to live there, but we don't get any evidence of it in the game which I think is just tragic. Like it doesn't seem like something Clara would ever mention organically because of her desire to appear strong, Harper probably wouldn't mention it because she might have been too young or naive to pick up on it, and Wade probably never knew that such tensions even existed.

Like by all accounts Roger and Marie were great people and parents, but given their demanding jobs, the fact that they already had two children, and the fact that they presumably didn't have much info on grief and trauma and how to guide children through it, it's very possible they were just never there for Clara in the same way they were there for their own kids. I mentioned in another post that because grief in children surrounding parental loss often comes with a lot of resentment, it's possible that young Clara pushed herself away from her new family, and they just didn't know how to respond to that, didn't know how normal it was, and thus never treated her as one of them. I want to know so badly what they did, no matter how well-intentioned, that would leave Clara feeling like she'd ever be pushed out of the family after being taken in by them as an actual child and living with them for 8+ years. That would be a seriously major insult after being brought up with them!!!

Or was it because of the possible incest thing? Lately I'm back to thinking that that may have actually been intentional from the writers!

Idk this story is just sooo complex and rich and I'm honestly both glad it exists in a Nancy Drew game so that the dark parts can be understated and we can imagine our own backstories and also sad that it has to be so limited because I would also read a full novel or watch a whole Netflix original series about the Thorntons of Blackrock.

I also wish we got more info about the eventual reconciliation of the Thornton family. To what level was Clara a part of that? If she wasn't, and all her lifelong fears were confirmed at the end of the game, that would be really tragic. It would make sense, since her manipulation of Harper and Wade may have left their relationships far beyond repair, but god wouldn't that be a sad corruption story? And did Clara go to jail for what happened in 1989? (I kind of doubt it, given her socioeconomic status, the fact that the fire was so many years ago and may have been entirely accidental, etc., but who knows.)

But then, by the end of the game, Jessalyn is at the core of the family, not Clara or Harper or Wade, and she seems to have a lot of love and forgiveness for her mother. And maybe Clara could start to become a new person now that she's not being burdened by this horrible secret and if she sees that she will always have at least some of her family! I love a story whose theme is that it's never too late to change, and that shows that change comes because of love and support!

Do they all do holidays together? Does Jessalyn ever drag them all on tropical family vacations, even though Harper doesn't really like her cousins, Wade sees maybe an hour of sunlight per year, and Clara hasn't had fun in twenty years?? Do Harper and Clara try to kill each other with carving knives on Thanksgiving? I just need so much more on this deeply fucked up but also very funny family.

Double Cross by First Choice (a Larry Levan remix) has what i want to call bollywood strings, a flute, and the funkiest bassline backing up some really classic disco vocals. First Choice were a group out of philly, which no one at the party knew at the time, and this blog calls this specific remix "dancefloor soul" which is probably as good a descriptor as any. i have had it on loop for a solid week. lyrics include

i read the mandalorian comics in between volumes of berserk, which feels a bit like saying i took a break from watching the evil dead franchise to watch some cocomelon.

the mandalorian comics are a remarkably uninspired nearly shot by shot breakdown of the episodes. not in the way most film/tv comics are, where they’re very clearly traced screencaps, but screenshots redrawn. this would be interesting if the artist was not contractually obliged to the very flat marvel comics style. i am constantly reminded of how the mandalorian is simply…not very good. it’s entertaining as a spectacle of television to watch, but there are not a lot of fun ideas in there. something that made me fucking scream with laughter are these panels of baby yoda

back to the other series with a dark haired, roaming, grouchy, reserved man on a mission. unfortunately i don't have a lot of berserk thoughts just yet, i am waiting on vol 4 to come off my library holds and my brain is still digesting it. anyway i think not wanting random "friendly" embraces from strangers is a very reasonable thing for guts to dislike and i truly do not understand why ppl in-universe get so fucking offended. unfortunately reading these late at night did lead to an unpleasant sleep experience.

not to be all therapeutic but im trying to be Curious About and Gently Interrogate why i get a real bee in my bonnet once a year to read some horror comics/manga when i am big squeamish baby about film depictions of those things. i think mostly bc comics gore is so much more stylized than some of the very effective practical and cgi effects? and crucially nothing is actually like writhing around on screen it’s a still image? does anyone else’s brain have a much easier time handling still images over moving images of gore? much to consider

i have viewed the first four episodes of Fire Force, the urban fantasy mercenary firefighter anime and do not think i will be continuing. while i have a great many questions about the worldbuilding (gravitational anomalies?? genetic predisposition to spontaneous human combustion?? solar god nuns??) it has a dead mom plot, which i am allergic to. this is also a 7.5-8 on the Ass part of the Weeb Ass Shit scale, and has a lot more casual assault than i try to encounter in anime. it's by the soul eater guy, remember the level of Stuff going on in soul eater? a little bit more ramped up groping and stuff that makes me say out loud "wow i don't like this" than soul eater.

the animation re: aforementioned fire is really top notch tho. visually complex and interesting television program.

how i found this: me and my best friend and my best friend's husband morosely poking around the anime section on hulu, looking for something to fill the spy x family void. this ain't it tho

also i finally bought a couch bc salvation army had 50% off everything for Labor Day. this is a question of ethics vs money i have decided for myself, and encourage you, the reader, to go off and quietly make your own philosophical choices without explaining them to me in detail.

it will be arriving on friday bc that is when the strapping young men who own trucks are available. my front door is a very non standard size and i have a very awkward front stair, so i needed something that could fit under the overhang while standing on its end. this one was the best size and (fortunately) the cheapest at $150. it is some sort of extremely flammable early polyester and 100% has a grandma’s soul trapped within its fibers. i will probably buy a cover at some later date to deter miss macaron but in the meantime we will do the strips of brown painters tape, which does successfully deter her. this really really does not want to be steamed so i will also be procuring some chemicals.
