Recovery Girl better sleep with one eye open
Continues from here
It took him a bit longer than he wanted to get back to the kids, but he didn't think it would help their peace of mind for him to show back up covered in blood. But he had made absolutely sure Overhaul was not getting up again. The remains were being brought to a crematorium he'd bribed for disposal purposes. Not even enough left for a Pit to revive. He was glad to see several of his men still there, on the outside and more in the interior.
They were guarding the kids. Good.
Eri had fresh bandages, and they were placed locally, rather that covering half her arms and legs. it seemed her injuries were more on her wrists and elbows. Her legs were bare, showing old scarring and not fresh wounds. Maybe an incentive not to run? Hood regretted not killing Overhaul more slowly.
The boy had his gloves off and his hands were mangled. "Did Overhaul do that to you?" Hood growled.
Deku shook his head. "No sir." he answered in English. Jason mentally kicked himself for forgetting to talk to the kid in his own language. "My quirk used to break me. It still does if I push it too far. Eri's power in the only reason I was able to use so much and not be injured." He smiled brightly at the small girl next to her."
"Your own power did that you?" Dr. Thompkins asked softly.
"Yeah," Deku ducked his head. "I'm sorry and I'll try to be a lot better about it. I have gotten better, it's just Overhaul was so overwhelming, if I didn't go all out I would have died and Eri would have died, and I'm not being reckless, really I promise I'm doing my best." Try as he did to hold them back, tears sprang unbidden from his eyes.
Eri reached over and hugged him, looking warily between Hood and Leslie. Right, she probably didn't speak English and had no clue what was happening.
"Hey, Kiddo, breathe." Hood used his gentlest victim voice. "You did good. You saved Eri. You were no more reckless than anyone else who puts on a costume, got it?"
"I'm sorry, I really am trying." He wrapped his arms around Eri, rubbing her back comfortingly.
"Who said you weren't trying." Hood said, keeping his tone light, but the moment the words left his mouth they suddenly felt heavier. Because that was it, wasn't it. Kid had had a major victory tonight, even if Hood had dealt the finishing blow, but rather than celebrate like the Titan would have his first instinct was to plead that he's done his best and was putting effort into what he was doing. Someone had told this kid he wasn't good enough. Frequently.
"Well it's true, isn't it? I need to be better. Aizawza-sensei said my not being able to control my quirk is an excuse and I need to be better. And Recovery Girl, our school nurse (she's got a quirk that can fast heal anyone's injuries just by kissing them, it's so cool), got so fed up with me she said she wouldn't heal me anymore if I hurt myself with my quirk."
"She said WHAT!"
Hood had thought he'd seen all the different flavors or tired, overly annoyed, and frustrated Dr. Thompkins had. He'd not seen this one before. He could see her pupils constrict, her breathing quicken, and suddenly wanted nothing more than to get out of her way.
"She said her healing me was enabling me in being reckless, so she wouldn't be a part of it anymore." Deku said softly, as if he was ashamed and not the so-called nurse.
"Did she offer you any resources to help you?" Leslie pressed.
"Resources?" Deku looked confused.
Leslie exhaled deeply. "Hood, Eri has been very sheltered and her immune system is not used to Gotham. I know you center around Crime Alley, but if you have any safe houses in upper middle class areas or better yet out of Gotham, that would be preferably till she recovers more fully." Leslie than switched to Spanish. "And when you find a way back to where ever they're from, let me know."
"What makes you think I'm letting either of them go back?" Hood responded in kind, once he confirmed Deku didn't seem to understand what she had said.
"They're not. I am." Dr. Thompkins was resolute. "I have a 'school nurse' I need to have some words with."
#Ghost Writing#BNHA#Batman#Leslie's not happy#She's worked with Heroes for years#She knows refusing medical care won't make them be less reckless#It will just make dead heroes#Right on Queue#And she can not imagine someone refusing to care for a child#especially when their job is literally 'care for children'

My thoughts on Venom 3. SPOILER ALERT - LONG POST
Let's start with the fact that I saw it in the cinema with Latino Spanish dubbing, so anything lost through translation is not my fault.
Damn, how do I start with all this?
☆ Why doesn't Spiderman appear?
I think based on the post-credits scene of Venom 2, we all assumed that in this new movie Venom and Eddie were going to go into the MCU universe and meet Spider-Man. But for those who saw the movie it was confirmed that that wasn't the case. Now, what's my theory on what happened?
I think the original intention was to give the rights to Venom to the MCU, but for some reason or another they didn't do it. And they decided to continue the story from Sony.
So Venom didn't meet Spiderman because the MCU doesn't have the rights to Venom yet, and Sony hasn't wanted to hand them over yet.
(I don't know, maybe money issues. Sony should make a considerable amount from the Venom movies)
☆ Portals
I actually didn't really like how the interdimensional portals are handled. Venom has never been a character who plays with space-time and the universe on his own (actually a bit in the comics, but not in the movies), so I don't understand how they inexplicably changed universes.
In the post-credits scene of the second movie it was about... connecting to the symbiote hive? But then what? Knull brought them back??
I don't know, I just didn't like that brutal change of plot direction.
☆ I changed my perception of the symbiotes in the movies
So, in the first movie the symbiotes arrive on a meteorite to earth and are captured by the Life Foundation. In this film, the symbiotes are made to look like an invasive species, the kind that goes from planet to planet looking to deplete natural resources. But apparently this wasn't the case.
From what I could understand, the symbiotes were escaping from Knull's awakening, so they weren't trying to invade Earth to drain its resources, but to save themselves from Knull.
This makes Venom look extremely selfish, because during the movie he tells Eddie that his fellow symbiotes only live to harm the Earth and he doesn't want Riot to reach Kyntar to pass this information to other symbiotes who need to escape from Knull and find a home.
There's also the possibility that this was the initial idea (that the symbiotes were an invasive species), but they made last-minute script changes that said otherwise.
☆ There was a Flash Thompson reference in the movie!!
It wasn't a small reference, it was a military man named Thompson and there's an entire scene that was almost too cruel of him losing his legs. I don't know if Sony has any rights to Flash's image, but it would be great to see him in an upcoming movie (if there is one).
☆ Rex was there too!
Does anyone remember Rex?
You know, the military man... who had a symbiote... and the symbiote became fond of him... but then he died and the symbiote stole his identity... You know! Rex!
He doesn't have a symbiote in the movie, and really only has the name and the face, because apart from being a military man and being related to sumbiote he has nothing to do with the one in the comics. It was a nice reference anyway. I personally like Rex the symbiote, even though he had limited appearances. I thought his story was nice.
But I guess it was just a reference in the movie because inventing new characters is not that simple either.
There is also this Doctor Payne
I honestly don't know who she is, I don't know if she was part of the comics or if she's an original character from the movie. I looked up her name, but it seemed like another character that I think has nothing to do with her...
☆ Codex
I didn't like how the codex was treated in the movie and I didn't fully understand how it worked.
I didn't like the way it was handled in general, that the codex only exists while both exist because they died and came back to life... How... only Eddie and Venom were united and were the only symbiote and host who died and came back to life?? In the ENTIRE universe?
And why does the codex disappear/is not visible when Venom isn't encasing Eddie? Shouldn't it still be there since it's stuck in Eddie's spine?
☆ The Hippie Family
They were fun and somewhat endearing characters. But while they were good for moving the plot forward, I didn't care that much about them.
It just helped remind me how sad it makes me that Eddie is a man who wanted to start a family and couldn't because of his own mistakes and mental problems.
☆ The other symbionts
The only comic book-based symbiotes I recognized were (besides Venom) Lasher and Agony. The rest I think were original for the movie.
Honestly, at first I thought the green-water snake-like symbiote was Lasher, but no. (I also didn't realize that the host was the cop from the previous movie until very late, almost after he was killed.)
It would have been great to see the quartet (Scream, Agony, Lasher and Plague. No Riot, because he died lol). But it wasn't that important, because in the end most of them died anyway.
☆ Characters from past movies
So Anne and Dan didn't appear in the movie. I don't have any hard feelings about it, I actually think they would have been a waste of time and their appearance always just brings this... weird geometric love thing where Eddie still has feelings for Anne, Venom... I don't know what Venom feels for Anne, I don't know if he sees her as a friend or has feelings for her too, Anne just sees them as friends and Dan is just constantly there being awkward.
Mrs. Chen was there. I must admit, she looked beautiful in that red dress!
look at that lady!
Honestly, I didn't think her appearance in the film was that important, but I'm not saying they were bad scenes.
☆ Knull
I think Knull was a completely computer-generated character. Understandable because all he does throughout the entire movie is sit down anyway xd
I don't have much to say about him. The design was well done and at least the voice acting in Latino Spanish seemed spectacular to me. Maybe he could have had more participation, but whatever, the movie was fine as it is. Adding more powerful antagonists would have made the movie 3 times longer.
☆ Eddie and Venom's relationship
I hate to use the term. But Eddie is a total Tsundere... Throughout the three movies he just keeps saying that he hates Venom and that he wishes he could go back to normal, now that he's been given the chance he feels empty.
As I know, "Not even death can separate them" or whatever the phrase on the movie poster said, completely lied.
☆ The end.
If I had to describe it in one word... bittersweet.
It was a good ending, dramatic, sentimental. But at the same time it leaves you with that feeling of emptiness, because Venom died and he is a protagonist and therefore he shouldn't die.
In the post-credits scene, a cockroach appears next to the small tube that contained a Venom extract. But it wouldn't make sense, because there wasn't a moving extract of the symbiote and anyway that extract later became who I think is Agony. It had her design but also had Dr. Payne's "hidden powers".
I honestly didn't like the ending at all. That "Well, now everything is like it used to be." BITCH, NO!
Especially since I heard here and there that Tom Hardy wasn't so sure he could continue participating, for reasons I still don't understand, so I'm convinced there will be another part. Either as a movie or a series.
☆ as a theory
I don't think Sony owns the rights to Agent Venom. But in case they do release another Venom, without Eddie Brock, that's my theory.
There was a reference to Flash in the movie and how he lost his legs. So maybe the next movie will be about them going back to Area 51 to look for the remains left after the massacre. Whether it's symbiotes that are still alive or just information they need to start a new area of research.
They find layers of Venom, but he's like a baby, they use their abilities to turn him into a weapon, they give him to Flash Thompson, boom! Agent Venom.
Just a theory, obviously. Maybe the saga will end there and we won't have anything more about Venom until they start another separate saga.
☆
Honestly, I would have preferred them to fight Spiderman. Not so much because of the Spiderman fight, but because that would put them in the same universe as other powerful characters and they would have made a movie with a bigger Knull, similar to what Infinity War was.
You know, with all the characters fighting to save the world, but still having the movie center around Venom. Not exactly like in the comics, where Eddie becomes God (because that went really wrong for the comics), maybe just having him defeated and the symbiotes being free.
☆
ALSO! I think there was a kiss missing in the scene before Venom sacrificed himself, when they were on the fallen helicopter... I really needed it... And it didn't happen... understandable, I mean, there would have been a drama about it, but damn! It was the perfect moment to, at least, get close.
☆ The end of this post
The movie was good... Yeah... yeah, kinda.
I think for those who only watch the movies, or who only watched this movie, they could say that it's pretty good. It's fun, it's not as rushed as movie one, and it has a dramatic ending. I think that in itself it's a good movie.
But from my perspective, where I expect more coherence regarding everything and the extensive universe behind Venom as a character, I did find more plot holes, things that didn't make sense to me and things that I think would have been preferable to what happened.
Would I like to see another movie? Yeah, I think it would be great to really wrap up what happens with Knull and obviously have Venom come back to life, like... Venom? or Agent Venom.
Or even this gives a chance to convert the remaining extracts of the symbiote into Eddie becoming Anti Venom. But I'm just dreaming.
If you took the time to read everything I had to say, please let me know what you think! I'd love to read what you think of the movie or my opinions and theories!

Christ alive can anyone get a break right now??
(Ahem)
Update time, once again!
Also once again, it is a mixed bag
So to start off with, as most everyone knows, Pomme and Dapper's admins have resigned from their positions. This is incredibly unfortunate, and I honestly don't know what it's gonna mean for the French Creators who said they wouldn't stay on QSMP if Pomme's Admin was fired. Since she technically left of her own volition, I really don't know what they're gonna do
(Edit: I talk about Quackity's stream here but I don't speak Spanish so I can't personally say what was said exactly. Thankfully, it looks like someone JUST POSTED an English Translation so I'm just gonna drop the link here for anyone who wants to read it)
On another note: Quackity has finally given a slight update. For obvious reasons, he can't say anything specific, and I wouldn't have expected him to. But according to the translations I've seen so far, basically said that he can't update because the leaks that happened are creating added complications in the restructuring process. I'm assuming his reason for that is that he simply doesn't want anymore information to be leaked out, but unfortunately, that's just counterproductive to the miscommunication problem
AND SPEAKING OF MISCOMMUNICATION???
So as you all know, I've been in support of the French Union getting involved with this. As I've stated a dozen times now, Unions are meant to be resources, people who inform employees of their rights and do what they can to help them get those rights. As far as I know, one of the main things they do is mediate between the employees and the employers. But APPARENTLY the Union has not attempted to reach out to Quackity outside of Twitter. Which REALLY isn't all that professional. Twitter is a NETWORKING site. Meant to START building connections. Afterwards, people typically move onto email or even discord, which are way better equipped for the long-form communication that's about to have to happen
So even if Quackity WAS active on Twitter, which he isn't. And even if the Union DIDN'T know that, which they do. This isn't the right route to communicate. They have stated that he "has their email" and has to "reach out to them." They are apparently working on the logic that SOMEONE would have had to pass on the information to him by this point, which isn't a fair assumption at all, considering that we know there were Admins ALREADY hiding information from him before all this
They're acting like Quackity is the CEO of a major corporation, with COUNTLESS RESOURCES on-hand. Yeah he's the CEO of this business, but he's also a 23-year-old Twitch Streamer who in all likelihood is learning a LOT about running a business for the first time AS WE SPEAK. I'll tell you right now, when I was 23, I didn't know jack-shit, and I'd still say I don't most of the time. And the only reason I LEARNED jack-shit was because someone would actually TELL me about it. When someone makes mistakes, it REALLY helps them learn when someone is able to not just point out the mistake, but also HOW to fix it. I don't know how they're expecting him to grow from his miscommunication mistakes when they aren't willing to give him the chance to
And yes, there are MANY problems that need to be fixed, as I've said before. But Quackity did outright confirm some of the other things I've said too. That things ARE happening, and we aren't hearing about it. That we aren't GOING to hear about it. Which is fine. It makes sense. We aren't the people who need to know every step of the process. But he is going to have to figure out a better system for talking to the Admins. It's a real problem when he's communicating with people like Aypierre that Pomme's Admin has her job still, but didn't tell the Admin herself
There's still lots of problems, and I know it sounds like I'm just repeating myself, saying to wait and see, but in reality, there isn't much else we CAN do besides that and voice our support
This might be the last time I make a post on this for a bit, because this has been a little draining on me. Which I would normally be able to handle SUPER easy, I'm pretty good at handling stuff like this well enough. But now I've also got real-life stuff reminding me that no matter how much better things SEEM to be getting for me, something's gonna come smack me in the back of the head to remind me that actually things suck, and I just should've known better! And unfortunately that stuff requires my focus more than this. I'll still be here, watching everything, maybe commenting on stuff, but I might not be quite as vocal as I have been
Once again, I remind you all, take care of yourselves first and foremost. Whether it's physical, emotional, or mental, or whatever else. You matter more than the events taking place here right now. My support goes out to all of you, as well as the Admins who VERY WELL COULD BE SEEING THIS APPARENTLY. So I guess this message goes out to them as well lol. You guys rock and I've enjoyed all the contributions you've made
Anyways, see you all later

I can't tell if it's just me, but it very much feels like the @snowchester-system is pushing harmful stereotypes against Mexicans, those with Mexican heritage, and native Spanish-speakers.
Their story is that WitSec (Witness Protection) moved them to Mexico in order to escape their programmers. They claim to have a DSPM script. I find these claims very hard to believe, but that isn't the point.
They publicly state that since they're located in Mexico, they are attempting to learn Spanish. My issue is not it feels very apparent that they aren't making a genuine effort to learn.
1. They have a Quackity introject. Quackity is a real-life YouTuber that lives in Mexico and speaks Spanish fluently. When scrolling through every single one of their posts (yes, I scrolled to the very beginning), there are only four instances in which Spanish is spoken on their page, which is by their Quackity. In these posts, Quackity is aggressive and frequently curses out who they are speaking to. This pushes the stereotype that only Mexicans speak Spanish as well as the stereotype that Mexicans and Latinos overall are loud, aggressive, and dangerous.
2. When Spanish is spoken, it's very broken, with the exception of one post, which I will get to in #3. In these posts, it's an entirely English sentence with one or two words replaced with Spanish. I feel this is making a mockery of Spanglish, which has a deep cultural influence on Spanish-speaking Latinos. It's often used when certain phrases in a language make more sense to say, when one forgets the respective translation, and can be used to signal to others their heritage and bilingual skills. Some use Spanglish because they may feel vulnerable, which I know is the case for me. Simply replacing a couple words in an entirely English sentence is not how one learns Spanish.
3. In the third instance of the Quackity introject speaking Spanish, it is again used to cuss someone out, reflecting a harmful Latino stereotype mentioned in point #1. This post is entirely in Spanish, but it's clear to me it was written in English, then translated to Spanish using Google Translate.
English Translation using Google Translate: "Fuck off. How did you know that? That is one of the triggers of our program and the protectors have been very busy in the inner world. We don't have anyone capable of coping that won't be activated except me. I'm the only headmate able to speak up front at the moment and there are no alters around to translate for me. It's good that he lives in Mexico. - quackity"
Plugging the English translation back into Google Translate gets virtually the same thing. Nevermind the fact that if someone did indeed post a program trigger for them, they should not have replied to the person and posted it. Now, a program trigger is publicly available, and anyone can use it against them. My point here is that they say, "No one is available to translate for me." English is their first language. They are learning Spanish. They have every ability to respond in English, even though they should not have responded at all. I highly suspect Google Translate was used due to the discrepancies in their statements. Again, this is not how one learns Spanish. You should learn from native Spanish-speakers. There are many free resources online made by native Spanish-speakers that one can use. Google Translate is not the answer.
As someone with Mexican and indigenous heritage to Mexico, someone whose family immigrated from Mexico for better opportunities, and as someone that is actively learning Spanish to connect more with my culture, I find this system's behavior abysmal and abhorrent. I have asked other Latinos, and they agree with my stance on this system's behavior. I want to know what other Mexicans, Latinos, and native Spanish-speakers feel about this system and their pushing of negative Mexican stereotypes.
Snowchester, if you are reading this, I need you to take an internal look into your behavior. Even though you think your page is anonymous, the page is still very much public and is open to public-forum. People can, and likely will, notice this behavior of yours and have their own thoughts about it. They may post about your behavior on other platforms, in which someone may recognise your page (previous friends, teachers, etc.) and call you out, publicly. They may know your name and state that publicly. There is already a post of yours in which someone knew a direct cue for your system. Bad people are out there and you've already seen evidence of that. Even if those people aren't directly connected to your case, they can still find and harm you. Right now, the issue is contained to Tumblr, but that likely won't be for long if you continue the reckless and discriminatory behavior. Please talk to your therapist.

Hi! First of all, I want to say that I really love your blog and all the content you have there. But for the actual question, so, I'm a new frev enjoyer, and I've been trying to look everywhere on the internet for the answer to a simple question that i seemingly can't find. What languages could Maximilien De Robespierre speak (beside french)? I swear, I've searched in every corner of the web and EVEN ASKED REDDIT AND QUORA??? I assume he understood Latin, since he studied law, but what about other popular languages, like Italian or Spanish? I don't know. I hope this question doesn't bother you, if you don't want to answer that's fine! Also I apologise for any grammatical mistakes, english is not my first language. Have a nice day!!! ♡
Hi, thank you for the lovely comment, it's definitely no bother at all!
You're absolutely right about Latin - anyone who received even a basic education in the 1700s would have at least a basic grasp of the language. Couldn't really do much without it! With someone like Robespierre, one can assume he would be pretty much fluent in Latin, or at least in reading Latin texts.
The only evidence for any other language he would have some knowledge of that I was able to find was not Italian or Spanish but Greek! Again, for the reason that it was very much a part of the classical education of that era.
(From an article about classical education in the 18th century:
This table also shows that, apart from seeming to be very well-versed in Latin, Robespierre would have at least some knowledge of Greek - enough to be able to win a prize for it, anyway:
I have to say I'm not quite sure about any modern languages! I would be leaning towards no. For instance I'd say that unlike some of the other revolutionaries like Jean-Paul Marat (or Voltaire and Émilie, who apparently learnt English in a matter of months), he wouldn't be able to speak English. I'm not hundred percent sure about Spanish or Italian though, as they are closer to French and therefore arguably easier to learn for a native French speaker.
If anyone knows more (@anotherhumaninthisworld ; @saintjustitude ?) I'd love to know as well!
Oh and least but not least welcome to the frev community and stay curious! ✨

Run in with Royalty- Miguel x F!Reader
I'm gonna crank out as many fics before I start work again 😤 I've binged and reread some of my favorite mafia au fics recently (especially by @tarjapearce and @guilty-pleasures21), and it's honestly been one of my favorite tropes since high school. I wanted to shoot my shot at it, so we'll see where this goes
CW: mentions of violence, language, mdni, fem reader, smoking, author knows some Spanish
Miguel had goals and ambitions. He knew nearly everything and everyone, so when he had the opportunity for more, he had the resources to take it. Nothing could surprise him. He was on top. Or so he thought....
You sat on the marble balcony bored out of your mind--gazing at the forest scenery and getting too much fresh air in your lungs. You weren't sure how long it had been since your husband had died, but things should be calming down after all.
Wars between families were very unsightly and violent which is why they rarely occurred. It was better to hold grudges and make aggressive business moves rather than fill useful workers with lead. Most people understood that. But then again, businesses and territory does not grow without risk, and you have to be prepared for some loss. Just hopefully not your life.
There were many lessons that leaders were taught whether from others or their own experiences. You had those. So did your husband. However, your family was a bit traditional with certain things, so while you would have thrived on your own, a partner seemed like a good idea--could produce an heir too. Shame that didn't happen.
So you and your husband worked together to maintain and plan for growth. And things seemed to be going well. Until, they weren't.
For success, it's important to know when to continue and when to walk away. And that was a sense your husband never truly grasped. If he wanted something, he'd go after it no matter the loss. And that's not good business.
Things threatened to fall apart when he started going after arms dealers and connections in the east coast. He did not have the man power to deal with such a powerhouse.
And it cost him.
~~~
Miguel knew that there were only a few more knots to finish tying before he was done dealing with that dumbass that wanted to take over his business. He was still establishing himself as a qualified heir, but he assumed his next threat would come from a rival family--not a no-name from who knows where.
His men had tracked down the goons easily, and after some quick and messy interrogations, he had come to the scum's house to finish him off personally. It wasn't necessarily Miguel's style. He was trying to be more peaceful as a leader, but well...an example also needed to be made. People couldn't just come from across the country and attempt to steal what was his. He kept a tight grip on his empire.
The house seemed barely lived in. It was like a glorified mansion in the woods. There was nice furniture and sleek appliances. Nothing was toss around or disorganized as if the man was trying to flee.
That made Miguel's jaw twitch.
If this cabron actually thinks he hid himself from me- Miguel went up the stairs cautiously. His pointed leather shoes moved quietly on the marble floors, and his navy dress shirt clung onto him as he moved through the house alert and ready for anything.
The door to the master bedroom was cracked open. The light smell of floral smoke drifted to his nose, but there was a sickly undertone too. Miguel reached for his gun as he pushed the door opened. He pointed it out ready to confront his adversary.
He wasn't ready to be greeted with surprised sparkling eyes. A gorgeous woman sat on the balcony that looked over the lake. She was dressed in a lovely cream dress that popped against her skin. She sat up straight at a white garden table with a cup of tea in front of her and a book. She was definitely not expecting Miguel to be at the door. It would have looked like an awkward accidental encounter to anyone.
If not for the body that laid shot in between the two.
Miguel's eyes raced from the body back to the woman who was way too calm in this circumstance.
She met Miguel's gaze, and that's when a mischievous grin appeared on her face.
She placed a hand over her heart. "It seems you were looking for my husband. My apologies, but I think I beat you to the chase."
~~~
You licked your lips as you took in Mr. Miguel O'Hara. He definitely looked good in his working suit--deep blues and reds with webbing details and gold accents. You certainly appreciated the style. You took an inhale of your smoke before resting your head in your palm and grinned.
"Mrs. Giordano, I presume?"
You shrugged and giggled. "You can technically call me that." Miguel stepped further into room--gaze going between you and the corpse that laid was flat on its back. It seemed as if he had been taken by surprise. Miguel didn't put his gun away as he got closer. "You don't need that, Mr. O'Hara."
Miguel tightened up hearing his name. The gun didn't move. "You know who I am?"
You chuckled at that. "Of course I do! I don't go running around in other's playgrounds without knowing whose land I'm on." you turned at the body and sighed. "If only Lucci did the same."
Miguel couldn't care less about the man now. He was dead. That was taken care of. But you were proving to be an unexpected, unpredictable threat. "I didn't know Giordano had a wife." he slowly put his gun away.
You shrugged again. "That's fine. It pays to be in the shadows. You get to watch everyone else play. Take notes." you beamed as the man got closer. He was quite the looker. You could imagine him tearing through your husband's men with barely any effort. You wondered if his eyes glow in both lust and anger.
He stopped a few feet away. "Shame to hide a beautiful woman though. Were you missing your freedom?" It would do well for him to understand the moments leading to your husband's final moments. Was it simply a quarrel that got out of hand? Or something more serious?
You took a final pull before pressing your cigarette out. "Flirting with a recent widow?" you leaned back with a grin. "Have some manners."
Miguel eyed you more and noted the fire in yours. There was little remorse and lots of confidence. You were not just some housewife. Miguel could tell for sure. You were accustomed to this life some way or another, so you were definitely a threat to Miguel. "My apologies, I'm just a bit surprised, reina. I wasn't expect this...or you." he gently took your hand and pressed a kiss on it. "Please call me Miguel."
"How charming," you chuckled, "well I wasn't expecting it either, but things happen when someone rages in and demands things from you." you went on and glanced back inside the room, "And well if you make threats, then its only appropriate to defend yourself."
Miguel nodded. "What kind of things?"
You shook your head as you raised your tea to your painted lips. "It's important to know people, guapo. You need to know who you're dealing with."
A notification rung, and Miguel glanced at his phone. "Well maybe we can get to know each other soon. I have a car, and my men are outside waiting."
"I'll pass."
Miguel scoffed. "It wasn't necessarily a suggestion, muñeca."
You laughed as you stood and wrapped your khaki coat around you. You reached inside and pulled out a card. "I know, but again, you do not know who you're dealing with. In the future, do not put myself in the same category as my late husband." you handed the card and took a step back.
"What the- Hey!" Miguel lurched forward a second after you flipped over the rail and down into the water. He didn't hear a splash and turned to see a motorboat starting up. Suits surrounded you as the boat began to speed away. "Fuck!" he groaned as he slammed his hands on the fence. You blew a kiss at the man and waved. Just who the hell is she?
~~~
"Remember Miguel: be a strong leader, don't let anyone walk over you ever. You will lead this family to greatness.
Never make enemies with the _____ Family."
The man grunted as he stared at the invitation in his hand. The paper was excellent quality with shiny gold lettering and black accents. He tapped it against his hand before pocketing it in his suit coat when his name was called.
"Thank you for coming. She will see you now."
Miguel grunted in response as he stood and entered the office.
This side of the country was a lot warmer this time of year. The clear windows allowed sunlight to pour in. The backdrop with desert mountains and bright blue skies reminded Miguel that he was not in the comfort of his city.
You looked up at the man with a soft smile before standing. You held out your hand to shake, but Miguel took it to place a chaste kiss.
"Still a charmer, I see." Miguel grinned and noted the ring on your finger before gently letting go. "Thank you for coming."
Miguel unbuttoned his coat as he took a seat. "I'd be a fool not to."
You tilted your head a little curiously. "Oh? Why is that?"
Don't play with me. "I was taught from early age not to make enemies with the Leaena Family." he checked you out as you sat comfortable across. "I never expected to meet them the way I did though."
You flashed your teeth with a grin--definitely prideful of your lineage and legacy. "Smart man. And yes, that was rather unfortunate. I was hoping to have made a calmer visit to the East, but well, you know how that went. Which is why you're here. I want to make amends. I've taken on a more active leadership role with my husband's passing. May God rest his soul."
Miguel grunted. "If he had threatened your life, I don't think he deserves the pleasantries. He was a fool to lose such a treasure."
"Jeez, I might just keep you here. I don't mind hearing those words from you." You hummed as yours eyes greedily took him in. "But back to business. We could benefit from working together. I'm sure you have your apprehensions, but I sincerely say that the actions of my dearly departed do not reflect the values of my family and operations."
Miguel huffed a laugh. "I don't really care about that anymore. You handled it privately. I'm more confused as to why you haven't been running the show since the beginning."
"The family tends to be a bit traditional--wanted male leaders and an heir. But after recent events, I'm sure you understand their change of heart." You smiled sweetly. You had more than proven yourself, and there weren't any immediate solutions to an empty head spot.
It drew Miguel in--a pretty, sweet face. You were strong too but more importantly a threat. There was not a lick of remorse or shock in your eyes when you looked at your husband's corpse even if there was an odd fondness voice when you talked about him. It was as if you shrugged his death to be just another incident--something unfortunate yet just a part of this lifestyle. If you could easily dispose of your husband for your own gain, then how would you treat your partners?
You reached into your desk drawer and pulled out a manila folder. You slid it towards Miguel as you prepared your floral smokes. You took in a breath before continuing. "I know that there have been some issues securing some arms to Nueva York. It isn't necessarily my area of expertise, but I have some connections with shipping that is looking to get into the east coast market."
"That sounds more like a favor than partnership. I can patch the holes up fine, carino."
You kept your smile. "I'm sure you can, but considering it is Kingpin making those holes, I think you would like the support."
A twitch of the eye. Miguel had his suspicions, but he hadn't quite confirmed anything. How did you know this? Your information network couldn't have been that extensive.
"Mr. O'Hara, I'm going to let you in on a little secret." You tapped the ash tray before leaning forward almost bent over the desk. You rested your bosom on your folded arms, and it took a little too much effort for Miguel not to peek. You lowered your voice. "The only reason why my family and I haven't gone to the east to expand is simply because we don't like the winter." you chuckled.
Miguel's gaze shot up. "No soy idiota! No me vengas con tonterias "
You held up your hands before leaning back. "Just a little preference. I'm not threatening you. Please, I wouldn't be able to work in those snow storms, really." you pressed a button on your desk. "I'm very serious though. We would be able to support your operations, and if the time comes, I hope you will be there to help. Keep that folder and look it over." A man came in with black matte gift bag. Just from the sound of it against the desk, Miguel knew it was heavy. "Thank you for your time, again. I look forward to hearing your answer soon."
...
Miguel glared at the bag as it sat on the table in his hotel room. A bottle of his favorite liquor and a box of his celebratory cigars were in front.
Who the hell is this woman? Miguel knew his answer before he even got out the building, but he had to come up with a plan. He didn't quite trust you. You knew your stuff, of course! That wasn't the question. But he had to make sure he kept his assets and operations. This wasn't an up and coming boss. No, you were established. You were a mafia princess with the knowledge and resources to play the field and achieve nearly whatever you desired on a whim.
Miguel chuckled to himself before he reached for a crystal glass and poured himself a glass. He raised it a little with a smirk. Let the games begin, leona.
~~~
Aaahhh~ I wanted this to get spicy, but gosh I love worldbuilding so much. I hope you liked it. I'm not sure where else I want to go with this yet, but please maybe you'll enjoy my other fics in the meantime
Ciao~

Rhaenyra is from Westeros, a medieval inspired fictional country. Of course she’s not going to be a feminist. Even Good Queen Alysanne herself wasn’t a true feminist, helped Jaehaerys to usurp their elder sister, and treated Saera and Viserra awfully. There is a double standard there, if Aegon doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone or be a political juggernaut, neither should Rhaenyra. It shouldn’t be an obligation for her to receive what was promised to her. “She doesn’t deserve it” is not an inheritance clause in Viserys’ will, so to speak.
And in our world, knowing that monarchy and patriarchy waled hand in hand, many medieval/early modern queens regnant very much avoided overly associating themselves with womenhood, instead leaning into the rhetoric that they were female in body, but male in spirit. They believed that as exceptional women, they might claim a sort of honorary male status. Think of Elizabeth I’s famous speech to her troops at Tilbury as they prepared to face the Spanish Armada, when she said:
“I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too...”
Notice how she concedes the point about her “weak and feeble” woman’s body ? She then goes on to say that she has the heart and stomach not of a man, but of a king, aligning herself not only with manhood, but with royalty, which is the source of her exceptional status.
Nice comparison! Of course Elizabeth was a prime actor in the colonization of what the EUs called the "New World", never denying that. What anon is saying is that in regards to female monarchs, they could not expect to gain the approval or trust or support of the men who largely owned the lands, had the military resources, lead most of the families, etc. of their domains without somehow "showing" how exceptionally unwoman-like they were. How "rational", how not "lusty" sexual you were--there was the medieval/early modern pd idea that woman, like Eve were sexual predators of men and couldn't think rationally. It was often part of the implied "deal" or persuasion. Which is why I do not care for the arguments that Rhaneyra should have--and this is sincere on the arguers' part--that she "prove" to the Westerosi lords that she can rule....when by default, men simply do not think & will never think it possible that women are capable in their own merit and trying to play into that AS SINCERELY AND NOT AT LEAST KNOWINGLY AS A SORT OF PLOY AND CONSTANT SECRET "JOKE" against these men is foolish and futile.
It is the criticism & examinations of the conditions fostering such a phenomena rather than JUST individual woman herself--how to get some form of power, safety, and agency a woman could and often did "buy into" those avenues of ideological thoughts of power, class, and gender [like Cersei] to be a monster or a perpetuator of terror herself. No one said Rhaenyra was a feminist, but it is always worth it to see how the conditions that set up constant disavowals of her personhood and physical safety engender a more self-oriented outlook to the point where they will look for power in the more assured places and in the narrow spaces of the status quo that allow them to have as much power/ability to defend themselves as much as they can. If you make it all about the individual being the entire reason why a catastrophe strikes, you risk ignoring or not seeing the patterns, path, trajectory of how and why they became what they were which includes how a society will destroy a woman for just being a woman...which we saw in AWoIaF even before F&B was written. And you even can fall into misogyny yourself as a result. As these posts of anons I blocked show: POST #1 -- POST #2.
All to say that Rhaenyra's story gives us the opportunity to evaluate not the woman but the definitions of womanliness, leadership, motherliness, ambition, power, masculinity, "deserving", etc. a society makes up for itself and how even readers can use the medieval setting as a way to disguise their own biases and reuse them as "critiques" of a woman/Rhaenyra for being not compliant enough, not being the ideal masculine leader these lords actually just want in a man, how some Alicent stans argue she was too "masculine" in the show and too "stupid jockish" to Alicent's "soft intellect".
As @rhaenin-time says:
The worldbuilding of ASoIaF is an almost unparalleled projection of the Eurocentric worldview. That's what makes the world feel so rich. That's why GRRM and even the readers and audience are able to craft so many details that feel intuitive. But that also means that how you choose to interpret that world is often driven by underlying biases and ideologies that relate to that worldview — especially if you're not willing to challenge them the way George RR Martin does and encourages you to do. It means that certain potential biases and ideologies people might balk at outwardly expressing in the real world are recontextualized in a way that feels more comfortable to indulge in. [...] how the Eurocentric worldview often seeks to project their own flaws onto the other or choose scapegoats for systemic issues. [...] people jumping at the chance to “cosplay” as bigots who base their arguments in misogyny and bio-essentialism. Because it's an acceptable channel to indulge in that mindset in a way that they'd often otherwise question, or at least hold back from expressing out of caution.

hello! i've just discovered this blog and am very excited about all the words here, as someone who is interested in learning hawaiian (the music is so beautiful...) do u know some other good resources to look at for pronounciation, verb conjugation and hawaiian history? where do u source all of these words? do u have some info you'd like to share about hawaii regarding stereotypes and misconceptions?
I'm glad that my WOTD series has been helpful for you! I've been meaning to be more active on here and starting it back up again for a while now 😅
My source for vocab words is this English-Hawaiian and Hawaiian-English dictionary (https://www.trussel2.com/HAW/eng-a.htm)*. I also have a physical copy of the Pukui & Elbert dictionary (which is one of the main sources for this combined dictionary), although I tend to prefer the online one since it's much quicker to find specific words. The Trussel page for Hawaiian also has topical subsets (https://www.trussel2.com/HAW/topical.htm), which you can use to create themed vocab sets for practice.
For pronunciation, it's hard for me to give tips since I learned it by just getting exposure to the sounds while I was growing up, but the resource I use for grammar does have a brief introduction to pronunciation guidelines (https://hawaiian-grammar.org/current/#h.35nkun2). The best way to improve your pronunciation is probably to just listen to people speaking Hawaiian a lot, though. Continuing to listen to Hawaiian music would probably be helpful for learning pronunciations!
Hawaiian grammar is deceptively simple, but can be pretty difficult to learn from an English-speaking perspective because of how different the rules are. To give just one example, Hawaiian doesn't have adjectives or adverbs in the same way as languages like English or Spanish do. Instead, stative verbs, which refer to a state of affairs, rather than to an action, event, or process, are used. For example, in the sentence "Ua maʻi ʻo ia" meaning "He is sick", where "maʻi" is the stative verb meaning "to be sick" but used to represent the adjective "sick". Verbs also don't actually conjugate at all in Hawaiian. You add verb markers (māka painu) to indicate tense and mood, but the verb itself doesn't change. In the previous sentence, the verb marker "ua" is used to show that becoming sick is a completed action.
There's so many resources out there for learning about Hawaiian history that it's difficult to choose any in particular, but to keep it brief I'll just recommend a couple books. The first one is "Hawaiʻis Story by Hawaiʻis Queen" by Queen Liliʻuokalani. The second is "Aloha Betrayed: Native Hawaiian Resistance to American Colonialism" by Noenoe K. Silva.
I can't think of any specific stereotypes or misconceptions off the top of my head, but I definitely think that certain parts of Hawaiian history aren't very well known outside of the islands. One of these things is the history of how Hawaii became a state in the first place. Unlike most other states prior to becoming part of the US, the Hawaiian Kingdom was a recognized sovereign nation. It was illegally annexed in a coup d'état in 1893 in which Queen Liliʻuokalani was overthrown. After being deposed, Queen Liliʻuokalani was held in her home, ʻIolani Palace, under house arrest. (An actual fun fact to finish this out though is that ʻIolani Palace is the only royal palace on US soil!)
*For anyone interested in other Austronesian languages, trussel2.com also has dictionaries for Kiribati, Marshallese, Mokilese, Palauan, Pohnpeian, and Yapese!

you said you like musical headcanons. do the gang play any instruments?
I love musical headcanons.
As a rule of thumb, everyone who was previously a Sans in their au (and remember it) can play trombone. All of them, bar none. (This is essentially excluding the dreamtale brothers, Ink, and Error)
Killer can play some guitar, but his true talent lies in playing piano. He plays beautifully, he taught himself to fill the silence while waiting around in his empty world. It only got better when he started working with Nightmare, who, naturally, owns a beautiful grand piano, and had the resources for him to get better. He'll go play if he has nothing better to do and is in a good mood. Dust can also play guitar, but his talent lies in bass. He enjoys playing a bass line more than he does the main melody or the guitar tabs, and everyone can play guitar, anyway. Super common. He doesn't play a lot, but can be convinced. Axe doesn't really have the capacity to play much anymore. He has a little kalimba that he does sometimes, though, because it doesn't take a whole lot and it fits in his pocket. Also, it sounds nice. He's pretty good, actually, and it makes a nice noise rolling off phalanges rather than skin. Cross can play guitar, and... pretty fucking well. He prefers acoustic, and can play some lovely baroque and spanish styles. I don't know if anyone's asked for him, but I headcanon that Baggs can play violin. An electric one, to be specific. Really fascinating instruments. Nightmare plays just about anything with keys. Piano, harpsichord, pipe organ, you name it. I think I remember reading somewhere that he plays violin in canon, but to add to that, he also is a magnificent cellist.
Dream can also play the violin, but he's best with a piano and a harp. He's taken an interest in clarinet, and can sort of play one. He's learning Ink canonically plays the flute. Given enough time, though, he can play just about anything. Not well, but he can make anything make not-unpleasant sounds. Blue took an interest in the french horn, but his true musical talent lies in drums. He's an energetic, fun drummer.
Error, surprisingly or unsurprisingly, plays the harp. Well. Playing music helps cut through some bad spirals and glitch attacks. He doesn't like people knowing about it because he thinks it makes him look soft.

{ THE ESSENTIALS }
Name: Henry Cohen Age: 130 Species: Blood Witch / alchemist Familiar: Eric Draven (Crow) Powers: Other than typical blood witch powers, Henry and his family are able to create 2-way fixed portals anywhere in the world that can be activated with a specific powder and their blood. The doors are noncorporeal and invisible. They are located all around New Orleans (and the world), giving Henry access to any places he wishes to go or take others with him without being seen. His homemade powders are mixed with his blood for quick use and to skip usually long rituals, different colors for different things, hence why his fingers often look stained when he uses them a lot. Deity: Primarily, the God of Travelling (deceased), but highly regards similar ones that guide souls; like Anubis, Fengdu Ghosts, Charon, Shinigami, Xolotl, Veles, etc. Gender, Pronouns, Sexual & Romantic identities: Cis-male. He/him. Homosexual. Homoromantic Residence / Years: Lakeview / 50 years Affiliation / Years: N/A Job / Workplace: Portal Maker/Guide & Owner of Wyrmwood Apothecary (French Quarter) Relationship status: Single Positive traits: Loyal, reliable, resourceful, witty, honest, loving Negative traits: Sassy, inconsiderate, short-tempered, self-serving, obsessive
{ FAMILY TREE }
They are, for the most part, alive, but none of them currently lives in New Orleans other than Henry. They can be found all around the world.
{ HEADCANONS }
Henry was born in England and of Jewish descent. His birthday is on October 23rd, making him a Scorpio.
He can switch back and forth between a Londoner accent and a New Orleans one.
It was while visiting his uncle in New Orleans that he fell in love with the city and decided to settle down there. His uncle left a few years later, leaving Henry to be the last of his family in town.
He speaks English, French, Spanish, and Louisiana French. He can understand Hindi well enough, but isn’t very good at speaking it.
One of his most common nickname (like the rest of his family) is The Traveller(s)
The Cohen are rumoured to be descendants of the God of Travelling; hence why they can make portals and guide people through them the way they do.
Henry owns and run an Apothecary in the French Quarter called Wyrmwood Apothecary.
He can get dangerously obsessive when he wants something/someone and he’ll go to great length to get what he desires.
The Cohen's divinely blessed bloodline is something the Higher Ups of the Deathrunners found out; resulting in them making a deal with the family a long time ago. The purpose was to get some of their blood for the corruption of Mathias Attano, which was a good deal until the Higher Ups became too greedy.
Recently, their greediness led them to almost draining Henry out of his blood, but he managed to escape. The direct attack has put the Deathrunners at odds with the Cohen Family all across the world.
Unbeknownst to Henry, the attack on him wasn’t as random as he thought, nor only out of greed and no one other than the Higher Ups know what provoked the attack.
As a consequences, any know members of the Deathrunners are turned around by the Cohen family (or killed on the spot) who now refuses to make portals for them and in Henry’s case to let them enter his Apothecary shop.
Standing at 1.80m (5'11"), Henry has a charming presence to him. He has wavy, slightly curly hair that falls just below the nape of his neck, accentuating his striking turquoise-like eyes and a full, short beard. As a blood witch alchemist, his fingers are often stained from creating vibrant powders for quick use, hinting at his craft. He prefers a casual style, typically wearing dark denim jeans, a plain white t-shirt and an assortment of leather jackets he loves to flaunt. With an attractive, mischievous aura, he effortlessly draws attention while exuding an intriguing blend of danger and allure.
{ CONNECTIONS }
Ricardo Jimenez / Best friend: He’s also his closest one. Henry would kill just about anyone to protect him. They have known each other for 15 years. But the incident with the Deathrunners has caused a crack in the foundation of their friendship as Henry is now cautious and distrusting of all Deathrunners. He knows his best friend had nothing to do with it, but knows that the Higher Ups could do something to control him.
The Deathrunners / Enemy: Although, his hatred for them is mostly targeted at the Higher Ups of the faction, he still stays away from them as much as possible.
Rus Saint-Cyr / Physical therapist: He's Henry’s obsession. Someone that Henry wants and someone he wants to want him. Henry met him after the incident with the Deathrunners. He was extremely helpful in Henry’s recovering.
Mathias Attano / Cautious acquaintance: Henry knows about Mathias more than Mathias knows about what has been done to him. It's because he too is a victim that Henry talks to him. He's also aware of Mathias' real position amongst the Deathrunners.
Suresh Lal / Business partner: For as long as there was a Cohen in New Orleans, they had the Lotus Eaters’ leader as business partner. Exclusive potion ingredients in exchange of fast travelling through the Cohen’s portals.
Versipellis Singh / Business partner / Close friend: They met a few years ago, when Versi was starting his business and become friends and part-time business partners when Henry’s portals came in handy for fast travelling. Unknown to Versi, Henry has quite often used his blood powers to control human customers and made people (including Versi) that the customers were possessed by a ghost.

Shadow and Veil-Chapter Seventeen
Summary: Eva Moore’s life was a carefully constructed fiction. Every day, she did exactly what her mother in law, her husband, and his best friend expected of her. No mistakes. And, that was going pretty well for Eva right up until a huge complication literally tried to run her over. Now, she’s faced with trying to keep the pieces of her life from falling apart while attempting (and failing) to keep her feelings for her husband’s new business partner at bay.
A/N: This fic is a sister-fic to A Need So Great and A Need Unleashed. You do not need to have read ANSG or ANU to read this fic, but there are Easter eggs from those fics in Shadow and Veil for readers with keen eyes. This fic is explicit for canon-compliant blood, gore, violence, and sex. As such, it is intended for an adult audience, only. A/B/O dynamics come with their own warning. Anyone under the age of 18 should not interact with this work. I do not consent to reposting this work to other platforms. Reblog only to Tumblr.

She waited the agreed upon few days before making a trip to the library. Holding her Intro to Spanish book against her chest, Eva strode inside. They hadn’t discussed how the messages would be passed back and forth. No time to work out the details with the threat of being found out so close.
Turning down an aisle, Eva tried to put herself in Horacio’s mindset. It wasn’t exactly easy. Other than the barest details of where he was from and what he was doing in her life, Eva didn’t know that much about him.
She couldn’t help but to have doubts about whether or not she’d put her life into the hands of the right person. History had proven that she wasn’t the best judge of character and the stakes were too high for her to make this kind of error. She kept coming back to the conversation Horacio didn’t know she overheard, to the way he cut off any plan to use her as a tool for the investigation.
Horacio was a man on a mission, a man determined to close this case with an arrest and justice served. There was simply no other option, no other acceptable outcome. Eva was a key resource that he’d refused to tap in pursuit of his goal. He could have pushed her into testifying, threatened or bribed her to bend to his will.
But, he hadn’t.
Horacio gave her all the control, let her decide the terms of their relationship. He negotiated her wildly oscillating emotions and, at the same time, stubbornly held the line when it came to her safety. His dedication, in hindsight, was nothing less than baffling.
Eva didn’t know what to do with that kind of confusion. She supposed she would do exactly what she was doing now—looking for a message in the non-fiction section. Another ten minutes or so passed like this, Eva meandering through the stacks aimlessly while she looked for clues. Eventually, she had to resign herself to the knowledge that she would need a little help.
Swinging around the corner, Eva headed for the circular desk in the center of the library. Behind it sat a middle aged woman who was carefully checking a stack of books back into the system before setting them on a rolling cart to be returned to their proper shelf. Eva didn’t recognize her, but she looked friendly enough.
Eva approached with a smile and held up her book, “Hi, I’d like to check this out again.”
The librarian returned the smile, “Of course. Any others catch your fancy?”
“Um, no,” Eva replied, “But, I thought maybe you might have something for me. My name is Eva Moore.”
It was a reach, a shot in the dark. But, Eva was more anxious about leaving Horacio waiting for her than she was about asking stupid questions in a nearly empty library.
Leaning forward, the librarian said, “I’m Margaret. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about having something for you.”
Eva’s heart dropped a little in disappointment. It looked like she was going to have to keep trying. Nevertheless, she’d been there for half an hour at least already and she didn’t have much more time between meetings. She would have to come back tomorrow and see if she could figure out where the message was hidden.
“Do you like music, dear?”
Thrown by the odd change in topic, Eva shrugged, “A little.”
Margaret reached over and picked up an eight by three card from a small stack on the desk, “There’s this new group playing our charity event next week. Maybe you’ve heard of them. Stag Nation?”
Brows lifting, Eva almost smiled, “Yes, I’ve heard of them.”
“A bit too rock and roll for my taste, but their singer is just lovely.” She handed Eva the card, “You should stop by, maybe make a donation.”
Eva nodded, “I’ll do that, thank you.”
“Wonderful,” Margaret chirped, “Here’s your book. You’ve got it for another two weeks.”
Thanking Margaret, Eva took the book and tucked it against her chest again. It wasn’t until she got to the parking lot that she realized the card in her hand was probably how Horacio sent the message. Eagerly, she dropped into the seat of her car and read it over.
She read it over again.
If there was a coded message in it, Eva was hopeless as she tried to decipher it. Frustrated, she sighed and tossed the card into the passenger’s seat. She picked up the book in her lap and went to do the same with it, pausing when she caught the edge of a bookmark peeking out from the pages.
Opening the book to the marked page, Eva checked the little piece of cardstock for writing or anything unusual in the type. Nothing. Just a standard bookmark with the library’s information on it. She threw it atop the Stag Nation invite.
And that’s when she noted the post it note. Yellow. Standard size. On it was writing that was neat and orderly. A date. A time. An address. Eva smiled as she read it over. Then, she closed the book and started the engine.
The rest of her meetings for the day were a blur of note taking and pretending that being asked to make coffee didn’t make her want to toss a cup of it into their face. She wouldn’t allow herself to think about the post it, wouldn’t even touch the book again, until she pulled into the driveway of the house.
After throwing it into her purse, Eva slung the bag over her shoulder and walked inside. At the door, she listened for an indication that there was someone else in the house. Josh hadn’t paid her any attention since the night of the party and Alexei seemed to have disappeared, as well.
She didn’t know what was discussed in The Lounge that night, or why Josh felt the need to call an emergency meeting. There was nothing on the books that indicated any shift within the company—no large sum of money transferring to one of the off shore accounts, no unusual expenses. There weren’t even any complaints from one of their employees.
It had to be the new project Josh was working on. Eva cringed as she thought about it and what the consequences of a success would mean for others like her. If Horacio already delivered the product, Josh would be running tests on it. One or more of those tests would be given to omegas under the guise of a federally funded clinical trial.
The only silver lining about the whole thing was that it would take months for Josh to synthesize a viable product. Eva hoped that Horacio would have his investigation wrapped up by that time.
There were no sounds, no footsteps, no voices. The house felt empty. Eva released a soft breath and she pulled off her shoes. The ache in her feet eased as she ascended the staircase. It was echoed by the bruising that was still healing along her side. Every day it got better, but Eva still made herself look at it in the mirror so that she didn’t forget why she was doing what she was doing.
As Eva cleared the landing she heard the drag of something heavy against carpet. She froze, listening intently. Another soft scrape—it was coming from Josh’s office. From this angle, Eva couldn’t see the if the door was open or closed.
Setting her purse and shoes aside, Eva tip toed along the well-mapped path towards Josh’s office. Each step was deliberate. Silent. She turned the corner into the upstairs hallways just in time to see the door open to Myra’s surprised face.
“Eva,” she yelped, “I thought you were at work.”
“I was,” Eva replied, “My last meeting ended early.” Then, “What are you doing in Josh’s office?”
She stumbled over her words before settling on, “I was looking for a print out of the raffle winners so that I could send them a thank you note.”
Eyes narrow, Eva felt her disbelief crawl over her expression, “Peggy has that information. You know that.”
“She said she gave it to Josh.”
“Why would she do that?” When Myra went to lie again, she cut her off, “Why are you really here?”
Myra’s mouth pursed in frustration, “Josh has been keeping secrets. Some new initiative that he won’t talk about.”
Eva shook her head, “He’s allowed to have his hobbies.”
“Not when it affects the company,” Myra bit out.
“He’s the CEO.”
“I’m the chair of the Board.”
“I don’t see how that matters.”
Myra huffed, “Because we are at risk for an audit—IRS, OIG, the whole alphabet soup of governmental agencies. They’re weeks away from a documents request.”
Eva stared at her, trying to discern if she was aware of the other investigation, “How do you know that?”
Tossing her head, Myra answered, “You think Josh is the only one with friends in high places?”
Fair enough.
“Those friends,” Eva hedged, “did they tell you why they were investigating?”
Myra crossed her arms and leaned against the door jamb, “Embezzlement, mostly.”
“Mostly?”
“Among some other minor issues.”
Eva took a calming breath, “And, you were in his office…?”
“To find your financial files.”
She didn’t know if Myra would be able to decipher the books well enough to spot where Eva moved their money, or how she protected it from being discovered. The IRS and OIG would have a significantly higher chance of figuring it out.
“What were you going to with them?”
Myra shrugged.
A little voice in Eva’s head whispered angrily. Out loud, she said, “You were going to destroy them.”
A shocked ‘no’ shot out from Myra’s lips, “I was hoping to head off the investigation. Give them something to chew on to that their superiors would back off.”
Eva almost believed her. Almost. It wouldn’t be the financial documents she filed every month that would tip off whichever agency took lead on the case. They were pristine—she’d seen to that. Which left a suspicion that Eva was not prepared to voice, nor make accusations about.
She stepped to the side, “You need to talk to Josh about this. I’ll give you a few days to sit down with him. After that, I’ll tell him, myself.”
“Eva,” Myra pleaded, “this is serious.”
“I know,” she replied easily, “That’s why Josh needs to be pulled in. He’ll never forgive you if he’s blindsided by this.”
Visibly swallowing, Myra nodded, “We’ll go out to dinner this week. I’ll tell him.”
“Good.”
Saying nothing, Eva went and got her purse and shoes from where she’d left them and trudged to her room. Only when she was safely behind the closed door did she let out a hiss of anger through her teeth. Throwing the bag on the bed and the shoes on the floor, Eva’s mind whirred with a thousand angry thoughts.
She stopped.
Standing in the middle of her room with her hands on her hips, Eva just...stopped. Whatever Myra might be planning was immaterial when it came to her plans. She had a goal to meet and had to keep her eyes on that goal until it was achieved. Myra was a distraction she didn’t have time to look into.
Intro to Spanish peeked out at her from the depths of her purse. Eva eyed it as she thought about the other distraction in her life. Really, she shouldn’t be entertaining Horacio, either. Meeting him was a massive risk that she shouldn’t undertake.
Eva was still going to meet him.
She tipped her head back and sighed towards the ceiling. Eva was such an idiot, but she was going to meet him. Not because she wanted his help with getting her out of her marriage—which she did. That wasn’t all of it.
Eva was going to meet him because of the way he looked at her. Her mind drifted back to his face cast in the glow of moonlight. Open and vulnerable, he lost all the sharp edges that kept others at bay. She recalled the reverence of his hands as he touched her side and the wide honesty in his eyes.
Horacio might be playing the part of Diego, but only when he had to. As soon as they were alone, the disguise fell away and Eva was left with a man who confounded everything she knew. An alpha who hadn’t once tried to assert himself as such. A law enforcement officer who was willing to let Eva, a criminal, slip away while he sought out a larger target. A person who had—not once—harmed her, threatened her, talked down to her.
She was going to see him because she needed to know that such a person existed outside of her little bubble of a life. Eva, for the first time in so long, had hope. This small, but growing, hope was more dangerous to Eva than her husband, than even Alexei.
Eva didn’t care.
She was going to meet him.
And, that’s what she did. On the assigned date, at the assigned time, Eva pulled into the small parking lot of a nearby wilderness reserve. She got out of the car and locked it, scanning the area for Horacio.
It was a lovely day. Fall hadn’t yet set in, but the heat of Summer was abating. A cool wind blew through trees whose leaves were just starting to turn. All around her, people were enjoying the weather. There were mothers playing with their children, dogs fetching toys from the grass. Eva smiled as she took it in.
Leaning against the side of her car, she crossed her arms and waited. Horacio would find her eventually. In the meantime, Eva could think about what she might tell him when he did.
Eva wasn’t surprised by the fact that there were concurrent investigations in to Ardent. She was being smart about moving their money around, but Josh’s insistence on this new project of his had forced her to make moves with the accounts that would definitely be noticed. The fact that Myra hadn’t yet told Josh made Eva think that the investigators were further along than Myra let on.
Despite the fact that Eva agreed not to make any moves without Horacio, she was already picking up the small caches of money stashed around the city. There were two or three left, one of which she would have to be extremely careful in retrieving. After that, she would get her passport from Josh’s safe and drive like hell to the airport. And that’s where her plan got a little fuzzy.
She didn’t know where she would go once she actually walked up to the desk to buy her ticket. Alexei had resources, would go just about anywhere to track someone down. Leaving the country wasn’t going to be enough to deter him. And, even if she flew to the ends of the earth, Eva’s passport could be tracked.
Having the cash would help. The bills stacked neatly in the duffle with the dress still carrying Horacio’s scent would be all she had. After it was gone, Eva would have to figure out how to keep herself alive with the skills she’d developed working for Josh.
It was doubtful that anyone would let her be an accountant, or work at the level she was accustomed. But, Eva would definitely excel at secretarial work. She could take the condescension of an incompetent boss if it meant she got to live with a small modicum of freedom.
Footsteps drew her attention. Horacio sauntered up with a fond smile, stopping just short of her. Eva dropped her arms and straightened as she looked him over. He was wearing a button up that was less Horacio and more Diego. The fabric shimmered lightly as it molded around his shoulders and chest. It was tucked into a pair of slacks that were tailored to his frame. The hem perfectly draped over a pair of blue leather shoes that had been on display at a high end department store a few weeks back.
“You’re not dressed for a hike,” Eva said.
Without missing a beat, Horacio replied, “Neither are you.”
She looked down at the sundress she was wearing. Eva debated putting on a pair of sweatpants and a t shirt that morning, but something about the delicately embroidered flowers called to her. And, of course, she had to wear the espadrilles to match.
“You have a point.”
Horacio held out his hand, “Take a walk with me.”
His palm was warm against hers. Eva followed behind him as he led her to a paved path into the trees. As she walked, his scent curled into her nose. Eva took deep breaths of it, enjoying the way her body responded.
The hair on her arms the back of her neck stood on end. Her heart palpitated in her chest, sending heated blood into every extremity. Instincts that Eva didn’t even believe she had not too long ago rose up and demanded that she slow him down so that she could pull him into her body—a body that was reminding her that she hadn’t been able to kiss him for almost a week.
Horacio slowed as they approached a bench and motioned for her to sit, “How are you?”
Eva blinked away the fantasy of scraping her teeth over the nape of his neck, “I’m fine.”
Easing down onto the bench, he fixed her with a disbelieving look.
“The injuries weren’t serious,” Eva explained, “I’m all healed up.”
He sighed as he rested his arm across the back of the bench, “I’m not talking about the bruises, although I am glad they’re healing.”
The way his fingers brushed against the bare skin of her back was distracting, “What are you talking about?”
“I asked you not to make any moves.”
“I haven’t.”
“That means you were supposed to act as normal.”
“I have.”
“You haven’t been shopping.”
“What does that mean?”
Horacio looked out towards the lake in front of them, “It means that you’re deviating from your routine. You need to go pick up some expensive pair of shoes or purse, do what you’ve done all along. Otherwise, your husband and his friends are going to get suspicious.”
Eva’s mouth curled as she bit back the venom that wanted to spill forth.
He glanced sideways at her, “Say it.”
“Say what?”
“The inside thought you’re holding back. Say it.”
Passing her hand over her brow, Eva did as he asked, “I’m balancing a lot of obligations right now—to my husband, to myself...to you. I am facing the possibility of jail, if Josh doesn’t kill me first. You’re going to have to forgive me if I’m not in the mood to shop.”
Horacio smiled, “Its good to see that there is still some fight left in you.”
“Fuck off,” she bit out.
He laughed and her stomach flipped in her belly. Eva was irritated with him, but the sound of his amusement went a long way to soothe that irritation. She fought to hold onto it and failed. And that made her irritated all over again.
“I’m doing the best I can.”
Horacio touched her shoulder, “I know.” Then, “Honestly, you’re handling this a lot better than I thought you would.”
“Gee, what a compliment.”
His touch lingered, “It was a compliment.”
Embarrassed by the sincerity in his eyes, Eva looked towards the lake. There were ducks swimming peacefully in a row—babies following their mother. A few fishermen were casting their lines on the opposite shore. People and animals, alike, unaware of the untenable situation she and Horacio were facing.
“Are you aware of the IRS and OIG investigations?”
He nodded.
“Then, you know they’re getting ready for a document review. Documents that I prepared.”
Another nod.
“Myra knows. She’s going to tell Josh in a few days.”
Horacio rolled a shoulder, “He won’t take that well.”
“No, he won’t. I have no idea what he will do with that information.”
“I do,” he replied.
Eva looked at him, “What?”
Horacio licked his lips and his hand flattened against her shoulder blade, “He’s going to try to pin it on you.”
Her mouth opened in shock. Eva had her suspicions, especially after talking to Myra, but to hear it said out loud set her back on her heels. Horacio hummed a soothing noise as his hand ran up her shoulder to the back of her neck where he squeezed gently. Eva leaned into the pressure as she accepted what he said as fact.
“So, I am going to jail.”
“No,” Horacio contradicted, “Not if I can help it.”
She rolled her eyes, “You won’t get a choice. Not if he’s done the job right. I handled all the books, bribed government officials.”
“And your husband,” he added, “used that money to fund illegal drug trials and run an opiate ring that will soon expand into a second state.”
Eva shook her head, “We’re both culpable.”
“No,” he said again as he slid closer to her, “I saw him hurting you on several occasions. I’m willing to testify that he used physical violence to coerce you.”
Her jaw set as she prepared to be fully honest with him, “That’s not truth. Not really. I’m good at it, Horacio. Very good. I liked the puzzle of moving the money, of hiding everything we were doing behind layers of protection and deals brokered behind closed doors. And, that’s the truth.” She paused to take a breath, “It was the thing that kept me going.”
Until I met you, she didn’t say. That would be too honest.
Horacio gave a very small smile, “I’ve learned a lot working with your people. Their policies and procedures. The way they think about criminals and the way they go about their business.” He leaned close, “I also learned that they don’t care about the truth. They care about finding someone to blame.”
He wasn’t wrong. But, there would be something he needed from her to make it happen.
“Only if I testify, right?”
The resignation in his expression told her all the answers she needed to know. Eva blew out a breath and stood from the bench. They had nothing to talk about and she needed to be getting home.
Horacio followed her onto the path that led to the parking lot, “Eva, wait.”
Over her shoulder, she said, “I’m not testifying.”
He caught up to her, stopped her with a hand on her elbow, “I’m not asking you to.”
Eva swung around to face him, “Then, what are you asking me to do?”
They stood there, heavy breaths between them. Impatient, Eva made a kind of ‘well?’ gesture with one hand. It was a dare for him to tell her the truth of what he wanted. To be as honest with her as she had been with him.
Horacio shifted on his feet, but said nothing.
Disappointed, Eva stepped away, “That’s what I thought.”
Chest aching with rejection, Eva strode away. She got into her car and started the engine. After pulling out of the parking lot, Eva drove the whole way back to the house in silence. Then, she walked inside and headed straight for her room.
In her closet, Eva reached to the very back and opened the duffle. Beneath the piles of money, she found her dress. Refusing to bring the fabric to her nose, Eva took it straight to the washing machine and threw it in. She added more soap than was strictly necessary and then shut the lid firmly.
Standing against the wall of the laundry room, Eva watched the machine move through its cycle. It was wrong to put so much hope into Horacio and it was wrong to expect him to bend to her will. He had rules to follow, laws that kept him walking the line. Laws that Eva had broken time and again.
If she was going to get out of this house, out of her marriage, Eva was going to have to rely on herself. That was all there was to it.

To people who are like:

Voted for Trump
Deliberately decided not to vote at all (thereby voting for trump, since if you don't vote you are still registered so you are supporting who ever has the most votes simply by existing)
Voted third party (In a two party system votig third party is a voice for the strongets party in this case Trump)"
I have to say
a) Thought crimes don't exist, anyone is allowed to wish anything on anyone
b) Those voters wanted to inflict the consequences of their own free desicions on everyone else, with horrible results, it is only fair to want them to suffer as well after all: Ignorantia juris non excusat
c) They will never help to undo what they have wrought, they already showed their true face, and their true face is that they either can not be arsed to do enough research to understand what they are voting for OR they do understand but have decided: “Vulnerable people should die for my ideology”
Look at all those blogs that told you they would not do damage control
Where are they now?
Are they helping?
Are they sharing resources and tips?
NO
They are being defensive that no one is gratefull about their sacrifice
They are pissed that peope are angry at them
Besides
Activism is not cold-calling.
SO why should you care about peopel that have already shown that they will not listen to you?
-> Someone pointed out that no one who has already decided how to vote wil chnage that opinio becasue of a stranger on the internet True But then why expect that stranger to show compassion and kindness? Go one stranger, laugh! You earned it!
Keep your comfort for people who did not bring this on to themslefes
They need it more
They will suffer just as much if not more, but they didn't even get whtathey wanted

One thing that I think is a fantastic way to prepare to help is to either begin or continue learning a language that you don't know. I am working hard on my Spanish because I live in California and there are a ton of Spanish speakers here who I might be able to help. Is it directly aiding anyone right at this second that I'm practicing conjugation? No. But it might help someone who is being harassed by a cop, or who is unhoused and needs help, or who is being abused by an employer at some point in the future, and I can get myself ready to help. Learn how to use naloxone and pick up up an inhaler; you might not need it now, but it'll make you ready to help someone who does need it. Order free covid tests every chance you get, even if you don't need them, because then you can give them out to people who do need them. Plan B has a multi-year shelf life. Pick some up so that you've got some on hand if someone needs it.

(Also, you can get 4 months of over the counter birth control (progestin-only pill form) at Costco for $50. Or 3 months on Amazon for about $45.)
Trump voters on tiktok are EXTREMELY mad about the following:
They just found out what tariffs are
They just found out what denaturalization is
They (particularly black and Hispanic trump voters) just found out that other trump voters are racist
Leftists and liberals don't want to be their friends (they are furious about this)
Leftists keep telling them they hope they get what they voted for (they are really mad about this too)

Etymology
Bonaire is a breathtaking island in the southern Caribbean Sea which has been an attractive tourist destination for many years. The island is located in the Leeward Antilles and is part of the Dutch Caribbean archipelago. One question that has puzzled many people is how did the island get its name? Let's take a closer look at the etymology behind the name Bonaire. The name Bonaire is derived from the Spanish word "Buena Aire," which means "good air." The Spanish explorers named the island "Buena Aire" because of the pleasant and refreshing trade winds that constantly blow across the island. These trade winds not only make the climate more bearable but also played an important role in helping sailors navigate the treacherous waters of the Caribbean Sea. Bonaire's native Arawak people called the island "Boynay", which means "low country," a reference to the island's relatively flat terrain. The Dutch version of the name, "Boneiru," is also used as it is one of the island's official languages. The name Bonaire perfectly encapsulates the island's beauty and essence. With its stunning natural landscapes, pristine beaches, and crystal-clear waters, it's easy to see where the island got its name from. Bonaire is a place where you can truly breathe easy and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
History
Bonaire has a fascinating and complex history, shaped by the island's strategic location at the southern tip of the Caribbean archipelago. From the early days of indigenous Arawak settlements to the arrival of Spanish explorers and Dutch merchants, Bonaire has been a crossroads of cultures, languages, and ambitions. One of the earliest known inhabitants of Bonaire was the Arawak people, who arrived on the island around 1000 AD. They established small villages and lived off the land, fishing, hunting, and growing crops such as cassava and corn. The Arawak culture flourished for several centuries until the arrival of European explorers in the late 15th century. In 1499, Spanish explorer Alonso de Ojeda landed on Bonaire and claimed the island for the Spanish crown. The Spanish established a small colony on the island and used it as a base for exploration and trade in the region. By the early 17th century, Bonaire had become a major exporter of dyewood and salt to Europe, thanks to its natural resources and strategic location along major trade routes. In 1636, the Dutch West India Company captured Bonaire from the Spanish and began a period of colonization and development that would last for centuries. The Dutch brought with them a new culture, language, and way of life, which gradually replaced the indigenous Arawak traditions. The Dutch also expanded the island's salt mines, which became a major source of revenue for the colonial government and private companies. Bonaire remained under Dutch control until the 20th century, when it became part of the Netherlands Antilles, a group of islands in the Caribbean Sea that were governed together as a single colony. In the mid-20th century, Bonaire became a hub of international tourism and development, thanks to its year-round sunshine, natural beauty, and unique culture. Today, Bonaire is an autonomous special municipality of the Netherlands, with a rich history that is still visible in its architecture, traditions, and people. Visitors to the island can explore historic districts such as Rincon and Oranjestad, visit museums and cultural centers, and learn about the complex and fascinating story of this Dutch Caribbean gem.
Geology
Bonaire's geology is shaped by a combination of volcanic activity, erosion, and coral reef growth. The island sits atop a submarine mountain formed by volcanic eruptions and has been shaped by the forces of wind and water. The majority of Bonaire consists of limestone, with pockets of volcanic rock and coral formations. The coastline of Bonaire is characterized by steep cliffs and rugged rock formations that have been sculpted by the sea. The island has several stunning beaches with white sand and crystal-clear water, which are ideal for sunbathing and swimming. Some of the most popular beaches include Lac Bay, Pink Beach, and Sorobon Beach. Bonaire is also home to several unique geological features, including the Washington-Slagbaai National Park, which covers a large portion of the island. The park boasts impressive geological formations, such as the Boca Onima blowhole and the Seru Bentana rock formation. Tourists can explore these natural wonders by foot or car and enjoy breathtaking views of the island's terrain. Another fascinating geological feature found on Bonaire is the salt flats, which have been in operation since the 17th century, when the Dutch began extracting salt for export. Covering over 7,000 acres on the south side of the island, the salt flats are a must-see attraction, with vibrant pink hues that reflect the sun. Visitors can tour the salt pans and witness the production process, which involves harvesting the salt and transporting it to a nearby processing plant. Bonaire's geology also plays a key role in the island's exceptional diving and snorkeling opportunities. The island's coral reefs and underwater rock formations are home to a wide range of marine life, including schools of colorful fish, sea turtles, and even seahorses. Visitors can explore these underwater wonders by joining a guided tour or renting snorkeling equipment. Bonaire's unique geology combines volcanic activity, limestone formations, and coral reefs to create a stunning island landscape. With breathtaking beaches, natural wonders, and exceptional diving opportunities, Bonaire is a must-visit destination for nature and geology enthusiasts.

Other unique animal species that can be found on the island include the Yellow-shouldered Amazon Parrot and the Green Sea Turtle. Bonaire also has many endemic plant species, including the Kakawara, a rare and endangered tree species. This species is found only in a limited area on the northern side of the island. The Bonaire National Marine Park has a strict set of rules and regulations that protect the marine life of the island. The wildlife on land is also protected and visitors are cautioned against disturbing any of the flora or fauna on the island. If you're interested in learning more about the unique ecology of Bonaire, there are opportunities to take guided tours of the island's natural areas with knowledgeable local guides. While Bonaire's biodiversity is impressive, many species on the island face threats and are listed as endangered. One of the most notable of these is the Bonaire Anole, a small lizard found only on the island. The Bonaire Anole faces serious threats due to habitat loss, invasive species, and climate change. The Yellow-shouldered Amazon Parrot is also on the endangered species list due to habitat loss, hunting, and the illegal pet trade. Efforts are being made to protect this stunning bird and its habitat, but more work is needed to ensure its survival. Other endangered species on Bonaire include the Green Sea Turtle, which faces threats from habitat loss, hunting, and pollution. The hawksbill turtle is also considered endangered due to habitat loss and poaching for its valuable shell. It is important to remember that Bonaire's natural areas and wildlife are fragile and should be treated with care and respect. Visitors should strive to minimize their impact on the island's ecosystem by packing out all trash, staying on marked trails, and avoiding disturbing any flora and fauna they encounter.

Environmental Issues
Bonaire is a small island in the Dutch Caribbean that is known for its stunning natural beauty and diverse ecosystem. While the island is home to many unique and endangered species, it also faces a number of environmental challenges. One of the biggest environmental issues facing Bonaire is the impact of climate change. Rising sea levels, more frequent and severe storms, and changing weather patterns are all having a significant impact on the island's ecosystem. This is particularly evident in the coral reefs surrounding Bonaire, which are under threat from coral bleaching and ocean acidification. Another environmental challenge facing Bonaire is the use of plastics and other pollutants. Despite efforts to reduce waste and promote recycling, the island still struggles with litter and plastic pollution. This has a negative impact on both the environment and the tourism industry, which relies heavily on the island's natural beauty and pristine beaches. In addition to these issues, Bonaire also faces challenges related to water management and conservation. The island's limited freshwater resources make it challenging to support both residential and commercial needs, and there are concerns about overuse and depletion of these resources. droughts and water shortages can have a significant impact on agriculture and other industries. To address these challenges, Bonaire has implemented a number of environmental initiatives and conservation programs. These include efforts to reduce plastic waste, protect marine life and ecosystems, and promote sustainable tourism practices. The island has also invested in renewable energy sources and alternative water management strategies, such as desalination. Despite these efforts, however, much work remains to be done to address the environmental challenges facing Bonaire. By continuing to raise awareness and take action to protect the island's natural beauty and resources, we can help ensure that Bonaire remains a vibrant and thriving ecosystem for generations to come.

BRIEF HISTORY
Maximiliano, Maximo, Mil, Maxim, Max – whatever you want to call him, he’s heard it and loves it. Nicknames are cute and he acknowledges them, his family always changed his name on him, you know?
He lived in Santo Domingo only until he was 8, then his family immigrated to the US, finding a home in Fort Lauderdale, FL for the vast majority of Max’s life.
Florida become his second home and he went to Florida State University and then to their Law program.
His whole life he felt like he had to be perfect for everyone around him, he never stepped a toe out of line, had literally only had wine with dinner a handful of times, and never intentionally hurt anyone. This weighed on him the most. He saw his Chilean peers get mistreated in so many ways, that he just wanted to help them. He soon realized, though, that he was just a shell of someone who had no clue who they were.
Once his dad died his first year of grad school, he started to change on the inside and slowly crack. Year after year everything started piling on him, the responsibility of his own family, his relationships, and partner's families were all just too much for him. Adding a serious pregnancy scare on top of it all at age 23, was when the glass fully imploded. Within months he became broody and disconnected, until eventually he broke off a serious relationship, dropped out of school, and moved to New York.
New York worked out for a while, he was a bartender most nights, some modeling here and there when he could.
For a few years he lived life as a bachelor: waking up, going to work, coming home, drinking, watching a dumb show or going out with friends, coming home, passing out, and repeating.
At thirty he decided he was tired of the dead-end jobs, but knew he wouldn't end up going back to law school -- instead, he figured he could do something a little more achievable: higher education. He got a job at and started attending NYU. Before he knew it, he was on several different boards as he obtained his degree -- his passion for life and success coming back in full swing.
At 36 he met his now wife -- they were a whirlwind of mistakes and fumbles, but it was in the sweetest way. they always missed each other barely until they bumped into one another on the way out of a meeting... the rest was history, for her anyway.
He, undoubtedly, still wasn't ready for a relationship at 36 -- in fact, he might never be. His needs always come first, making sure he's taken care of and everything else tended to fall to the wayside, but she never had an issue with this because she saw the work he was doing, saw how much it mattered, and figured the mission, not selfishness, was why he worked so hard all the time.
They married five years ago, and he's regretted it every day since. Only recently, though, has it gotten worse with the announcement they're expecting.
HEADCANNONS
Hangovers are familiar to him, stale cigarettes and Dior Sauvage are his signature scents.
Divisively he is not a cat or dog person, but a fish person and has an aquarium that he takes meticulous care of.
more to come.

coming soon.
