She laughs, coming to sit down by Tangent's side. "It's not that bad. I'm not saying you need to come with me, but... I dunno, I just think it's fun!"

Sol's grinning at her in that way that always makes Tangent feel like there's ants crawling up her spine, her eyes curled up and warm and bright. The smell of her is all around, disgusting with sweat, inescapably present. Even if Tangent were to close her eyes she couldn't possibly escape. So instead she tilts her head and says, "Mm, I can think of more enjoyable ways to work up a sweat."

There. Sol goes even pinker at that, eyes darting away as her head ducks and her smile twists shyly. "Jeez, Tang, I mean, yeah, but...."

It's always a nice feeling, leaving Sol lost for words. Tangent reaches out, lets her fingers rest on the back of Sol's hand with promise. "Yes, Solanaceae?"

Another pause, before Sol laughs again and then leans forward, face half-hidden by her knees. "Oh, nevermind. I can't believe you can just say that kind of stuff so easily."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Nah." Sol twists, and the smile she gives Tangent is softer than before, still a little shy at the sides. Bearable, but only just. "I like it, it just... kind of kills me a little, also?"

Good, Tangent thinks. "Then I'll try to limit your exposure to non-lethal levels," she replies, and when Sol laughs Tangent allows her smile to grow a little in return.

Fuck, I missed Killdozer day, so this will be slightly less impactful. Anways...

On this most sacred of days, the 20th anniversary of the Killdozer, I implore all of you to shit all over anyone who tries to ummm ackshually about Heemeyer's story. The majority of the spin on the story that claims Heemeyer was the cause of all of his own problems and that he spontaneously decided to self-sabotage until he went mad and decided to Killdoze his town largely comes from a single guy, Patrick Brower. Brower is not only someone who has made a career off the Killdozer story, but also one of the people Heemeyer was directly aggrieved with because, despite saying he was going to cover Heemeyer's story about his issues with a corrupt and abusive local government, he just conveniently never followed up on that story until it became the career-making Killdozer story much later, where he conveniently tweaked little details about the story to downplay the Grandy City Council's part in driving Heemeyer to "unreasonable action" in retalliation for their horrendous mistreatment of him over a couple acres of land.

Brower has reported a lot of contradictory information, while also neglecting or misrepresenting other information to make the narrative spicier. He turned the whole thing into a documentary, a movie, and a book and all of those things are slanted against Heemeyer so it looked like he was just an insane jackass who snapped for no good reason.

At the same time, with the Killdozer being kind of a meme and a "don't tread on me" quasi-libertarian/anarchist symbol, contrarians have come out to try and add more negative light on the story, painting Heemeyer as an unhinged asshole who was just attacking the city at random, and for no good reason, which simply isn't true. This recontextualizing of the event is done entirely in petty retaliation because they just don't like seeing their perceived enemies enjoying anything. So, they have to come up with additional spin on the narrative so they can say "There! Now you can't have any fun or talk about how local governments are full of petty tyrants!"

The Killdozer story is one that shows what happens when people in power feel like they are exempt from the consequences of their actions. When they believe they can simply bend and twist the law and the zoning codes and every little bit of pointless bureaucratic red tape to get whatever they want for themselves and their cronies at the expense of anyone unfortunate enough to be in their way. In almost all cases, these sorts of people go unpunished for their entire lives. In this one single case, someone was pushed too far and decided to take extreme, unreasonable action, and that's something to think about and remember.

13. things you said at the kitchen table

“There you are.”

The kitchen had been so quiet that Leon jumps, looking up from his phone to see Matthew leaning in the doorway, eyebrows knit together with a frown. He’s bare-chested, barefoot, wearing the gray sweatpants that had been folded on top of Leon’s hamper, worn once but not dirty enough to put through the wash yet. There’s an array of teeth marks and mouth-shaped bruises down his torso, just starting to bloom with color. If he turned around, Leon knows, there would be a matching constellation on the back of his hip, disappearing under the waistband.

Leon tends to lose himself in the moment. Sometimes it’s a little embarrassing to see what he’s done afterwards.

Matthew tilts his head. “You okay?”

“Yeah.” Leon looks at his phone again, somewhere in the middle of a mindless scroll through Instagram, then sets it aside. “Yeah, just couldn’t sleep.”

“Coulda woken me up,” Matthew says, that cocky little grin of his tugging at one corner of his mouth. “I woulda tired you back out.” He’s crossing the room as he says this, ignoring Leon’s eye-roll, pulling out a chair to sit down across from him. Elbows on the table, eyebrows raised. The only time he’s stopped looking smug all night is when Leon had him gasping and panting and moaning too hard to look anything but desperate. Which is stupid, because his team kind of got destroyed earlier, but maybe his face is just kind of stuck that way.

Leon doesn’t really get Matthew at all. He likes him well enough — a surprising enough thing on its own, and one that Leon is still reluctant to cop to sometimes. But there’s something impenetrable about him. He always leaves Leon feeling off-balance. Something about the way he walks into every room like there’s no reason he wouldn’t belong there, including Leon’s kitchen. 

The sex is great, though.

Matthew hasn’t spent the night before, but not for any real reason. Just lack of opportunity. Leon usually likes sharing a bed when he has the chance. 

Matthew nudges his foot under the table. “Hey.”

Leon blinks at him. “What?”

“You sure you’re awake?”

“Yeah, I’m fuckin’ awake,” Leon says, and kicks him back.

“Well then act like it,” Matthew says, catching Leon’s ankle briefly between his feet. “Is everything okay?”

Leon opens his mouth to say yes, but then he takes a moment to consider the situation, and instead he says, “This is a little weird, isn’t it? You and me at the kitchen table?”

“Well, it’s not my fault we’re not still in bed.”

“Shut up, you know what I mean.”

“I think it’s mostly weird because it’s the middle of the night.” The way that Matthew’s curls fall in his face is distracting. Makes Leon think about how they feel tangled in his fingers. He’d be disappointed if Matthew ever cut his hair short. “You know I’m leaving at the end of the season, right?”

This startles Leon more than Matthew’s sudden appearance two minutes ago. “What?”

“Contract’s up. Bye-bye Calgary.” Matthew shrugs with an extremely measured amount of awkwardness. That— that’s why he’s so fucking confusing. Even his sincerity feels like an act sometimes. But even more than that—

“Why?”

“It’s too fucking cold, I’m homesick, and my coach hates me.”

“No, mean— really, he does?”

Another shrug. So helpful.

“I mean, why are you telling me this?”

“I’m trying to make you pay attention to me,” Matthew says. “Geez, why do you think I’m here?”

Leon raises his eyebrows. “You didn’t get enough attention earlier?”

A tiny grin. “No.”

“So where are you going?”

“Dunno yet.”

“Is that true or are you just not telling me?”

Another shrug. A slightly larger, smugger grin.

“You think I’ll miss you?”

“Nah. You’ve got Davo to keep you warm.”

“We’re not—” Leon ignores Matthew’s dancing eyebrows. “Seriously, why are you telling me this?”

Matthew kicks his foot under the table again. “Come back to bed. We’ve got, what, two games left this season? I’m trying to get the fuckin’ in while I still can.”

“So you’re going somewhere far away,” Leon says.

“Dude, you’re in Edmonton,” Matthew says. “Everywhere is far away.”

“I meant, like, out of the conference.”

Shrug. The temptation to reach across and hold Matthew’s shoulders still is so strong. Instead Leon just meets his gaze, trying for the umpteenth time to figure him out. It doesn’t work, so he looks again at the collage of bruises spilling over his collar bone. He’s changed, in the couple of years they’ve been doing this. His body used to be wirier, but now he’s starting to fill out like a grown man. Leon can feel it on the ice, when he hits him, and in bed when he fucks him. He used to be wilder, more immature, more willing to sacrifice the play to be annoying, but he’s honed that down to an art. Whatever team gets him is going to be blown away by what they find behind his reputation. And Leon— well. It’s strange to feel so acutely that in the grand scheme of things he’ll just be an anecdote in Matthew’s life. It doesn’t bother him, exactly. It’s just a strange little moment. He’d thought, maybe stupidly, that they’d be doing this for years to come. Battles of Alberta and all that. But somehow it makes a lot more sense this way.

“Come on,” he says, standing abruptly. He catches Matthew by the arm on his way around the table, pulling him along back toward the bedroom. Matthew shakes the grip off, but catches his hand instead. In bed, he kisses Leon like he means it, but there are a lot of ways to mean something.

Honestly, it took me months till I finally properly appreciated Focalors' character. (And it was probably obvious for most people but I'm an idiot who took a while to realise this. Lol)

Back when we first met her, something felt a bit off about Focalors. At least, that's how I felt. Her calming demeanour, the way she sounded so neutral about her crazy plan, how she never wavered a single time when explaining Furina's role. (Heck, the "So anways, then I cursed her" line became a meme. Lol)

Compare her to Neuvillette during the scene. The Hydro Sovereign who once never cared about humanity, was absolutely distraught once he realised what Furina went through. He sounded like he was in the absolute verge of tears the longer Focalors talked.

I think it was the first time I saw a God act like a benevolent, all divine being in the game. The other Archons, for all their developing understanding of humanity, still felt flawed and human under all that divinity.

That's when I finally realised what Focalors lacked throughout her scene: Her humanity. She truly felt like a God above her people, who had plans for her people and there was barely an doubt for failure because it felt like she was truly in control. For all her talk about saving humanity, she sounded so weirdly detached, even when her actions said otherwise.

Do not get me wrong, this is not a complaint on her character. It was just an observation I had. I was alright that Focalors felt different from the other Archons we met during our journey. Similar to how I was alright if we saw Ei under an antagonistic light.

But then it hit me like a brick thrown from across the room and I'm an idiot for forgetting this fact whne it was clearly stated... Focalors' humanity wasn't lacking, just removed from her entirely. Her humanity was in the shape of Furina.

Before everything that has happened, Focalors was once a human. Before she was even human, she longed to live life as a human. And when Egeria granted that wish for the oceanids, it was a dream come true. Her wish was to live and feel her humanity. To feel the everyday emotions and experiences that every humans encounter, to laugh, to cry, everything. Even when she sounded so neutral during the scene, she clearly expressed her love for humanity.

And honestly, it must've been difficult to completely split her humanity away from herself, the very thing she longed for, all for the possibility that Fontaine could be saved from the prophecy. For all the messed up stuff she had to put Furina through, she too screwed herself.

So let's imagine this:

If Furina was a representation of Focalors' humanity, and Furina was an absolute emotional mess during it...What did Focalors feel when she came to the conclusion that her humanity had to be seperated from her?

From everything we learned about Focalors, I think it's safe to assume that it was probably one of the most heartbreaking things she had experience.

And just like Furina, she sacrificed it for her people. It finally made me appreciate Focalors more.

really really long post where i just talk about johan from yugioh gx thank you

im thinking about johan tonight bc i was drawing him and i wanna talk abt him. bear with me. I REALLY LIKE JOHAN . TO START THIS OFF WITH i have an official licensed johan "WHERE AM I" shirt and i adore it its really funny also i used to have like a johan pin i bought from a german anime store and it was like 8 euros but i shipped it off to my friend who is really really crazy about johan

anyway johan. jessejohan. i like johan so much believe me he is my nordic scandinavian brethen i just think his writing has issues mainly that he has like no real relationships outside judai and like. i know as a gay person -- i am literally a lesbian In A Lesbian Relationship In Real Life -- that characters will become more likeable when they're queer coded bcuz its Different and its relatable. however i think his writing is kind of really weak and i quote this thing my friend said in 2022 like a lot

but the most offensive thing abt it writing wise is like in season 4 when they duel against trueman sorry it was fujiwara. okay i was rewatching gx ages ago and my ex was watching it with me and it was her first time seeing it and shes a literature major and when the whole. "what is the darkness in johan's heart" scene, AFTER IT WAS ESTABLISHED EVERYONE, EVERY STUDENT INCLUDING MANJOUME SHO ASUKA O'BRIEN ETCETC has darkness in their hearts,

my ex goes "if they reveal that he has no darkness in his heart because hes such a special boy im going to be so fucking mad because hes already a mary sue" (HER WORDS NOT MINE she was so mad about johan its funny.) AND THEN THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DO

like he is literally too perfect. his only flaw is his one (1) time thing about getting lost which is never really brought up again (also its more of an endearing haha funny thing and yes i like it i have a shirt referencing that scene.) and the fact that.. he gets taken over i guess.

i do think the switch around where they bamboozle fujiwara is really funny. it is a funny scene i just wish they literally didn't do it at the cost of "johan is a perfect person without any mental weaknesses when literally every single other character has some flaws" I DONT GET IT!!!

Could you explain the premise (or anything else you'd like to share) of The Abyss to me, to the perspective of one who knows basically nothing about creepypasta? ;-; like I know the names of the more known characters and that's it lol. it sounds cool and I'd like to know a little more though, if you feel ok with that :0

Of course!!

Creepypasta is an Internet term that's similar to copypasta, copypasta being a wall of text that would copy and pasted to troll or meme people. A creepypasta is the same premise, but it's a horror story. A lot of memorable characters came out these stories for better or for worse. Characters like The Slenderman, Jeff the Killer, The Rake, etc.

Then there's Marble Hornets, which is a web-series inspired by The Slenderman, and it's really awesome, I would recommend it to those who haven't watched it. I most recently was able to finish up all the seasons and it really is amazing to watch.

So, I was a fandom creepypasta kid in middle school, so I was very attached to the softer interpretations of these characters. There was more comedy to the short narratives that were told with them, I also found them to be used more as vigilante characters.

There was an aspect that I really feel spoke to a lot of younger people, which was that someone was coming for them, to help them and take them from the situation that was out of their control. I know that was true for me, even though I didn't necessarily need saving, I knew that there were people who needed help. Help that at eleven years old, I couldn't provide. As a helpless and outcasted kid, these characters, however silly it may seem, helped with feeling seen and understood.

Anyway, that's sort of what The Abyss takes inspiration from, added on top that I think I can make a story out of anything. I started working on it at the peak of the pandemic, so I probably also felt helpless in that situation as well, not to mention that's when my tics got to the point where it was debilitating.

Anway, context aside, I'll explain what The Abyss has going on at this point in time (the story has been changed so many times, that's why I say that).

So, it's mainly taking the big creepypasta fandom idea that all the creepypastas live together in a mansion with The Slenderman and expanding on it. For The Abyss, it's turned the mansion into whole another dimension. This dimension has been dubbed The Abyss (you can see where the title comes from).

It's a place for nature's freaks and society's rejects. They're used for the agenda of nature's biggest freak and mystery, The Tall Man, The Slenderman, The Boss, The Operator, whatever It's called. Most of the individuals who seek refuge under It don't know It like the people that work directly under It. Most of the people there can be compared to being in military reserves. They will be called upon if they are needed.

So far, the characters that get called on (mostly by Briar) from the reserves are Ben (BENDrowned), Cody (X-Virus), Anthony (OC), and Jeffrey (Jeff the Killer) (but Jeff just kinda joined on his own accord).

There are other characters that were pulled out of the reserves by The Slenderman are OCs and a few other canonical characters, such as Kagekao, Bloody Painter, Laughing Jack, and more once I start actual progress on plot and such.

Then there are the people who work directly under the command of The Slenderman. These are the Proxies. They communicate with It telepathically in the form of visions and nightmares and do whatever job It needs done. They get a brand in the shape of the 'No Eyes'/Operator symbol from Marble Hornets somewhere on their body and are forever at the mercy of The Tall Man.

These characters shown here are Roque (Rocky), Briar-Rose (Briar), and Toby (Firecracker) (I'll explain why he's not Ticci Toby some other time).

Other characters that are Proxies include characters like Natalie (Clockwork), and whoever else I'll put in that category.

Then there are the characters who exist outside of The Abyss, like Eyeless Jack.

That would be Homicidal Lui, Jane the Killer, Nina the Killer, and most importantly Tim Wright.

The plot starting out will be a crossover/continuation of Marble Hornets, following Tim as he goes cross country getting hunted down and stalked by members of The Abyss. Tim was a very important asset for The Slenderman because of his ability to spread The Sickness. Too important to lose. It has been tracking him down for however many years and now it's gotten to the point where It has to start using Its Proxies and Reserves to get this one guy.

Pimp Kay wasn’t always a little shit! once upon a time he was a kind lil rascal with a knack for showbizz, however when Dean died Kay was taken in by his mother the queen Zelus. Having seen how fragile her sons were and how quickly Kay tried to fight the guard who killed Dean, she decided to train him. You see Zelus had discovered old texts that told off ancient and powerful magic- and what better test subject than her heir. With dark magic Kay would be an unstoppable ruler and the perfect threat against those who dared to stand against her rule.

She had fent act as an assistant and helper to Kay, a) as a way to help train fent to be a valuable asset, and b) to help keep Kay in line and develop the social skills required to be king. And that’s how things were for a while. However Zelus didn’t realise that dark magic corrupted its user. (lemme just drop my notes on dark magic rq)

-very taboo was used a lot in the past before people began to understand the effects of it

-angels are more susceptible to the effects of dark magic due to being made completely of light

-when used the caster will begin to be corrupted by the magic

-when the caster uses the magic, the corruption will spread, however acts such as killing will heightens the effects

-past a certain point the corruption will continue on its own, without any magic usage to provoke it

-the corruption is the destruction of the casters own magic to feed the dark magic, this is why their will be dark gradients from areas of high magic usage (arms, face etc), these gradients are the caster’s body breaking down as all creatures are made from magic

-once fully corrupted the caster will cease to exist their entire being fuelling the dark magic/dark magic god

-if the caster loses their magic or their magic is separated from them (some people have the ability to block magic etc) then the effects will reverse as their soul is able to rebuild its magical stores, healing the body.

-dark magic like really messes with ur head because it’s literally controlling you as it destroys ur mind to feed itself like dude ur gonna go insane because ur mind is like half destroyed

-anyone who is hit by a dark magic attack may be susceptible to its affects (get infected punks)

-dark magic had all but been forgotten when zelus (jeez she’s just ruining everything huh) digs it up to test on her kid cuz she wants a warrior heir (big fuckywucky)

-anyone killed by dark magic cannot go to the afterlife as their soul is consumed by the magic

But yeah so Zelus didn’t realised that Kay was getting fucked up by the magic, it was relatively minor up until he murdered her and then he started acting really whack and Fent started getting all sus of the dude.

And that’s around the time Kay framed the angel guard who killed Dean for Zelus’ death starting a war against angels but yk. But it slowly became a self perpetuating cycle, Kay did bad stuff because of the dark magic, the dark magic got stronger, kay did more bad stuff, the dark magic got stronger. Yeah it was fucked up.

ANWAYS ONTO MY OTHER BOYS!

So i’m not entirely sure about the dynamic between Gohstie dean and fent (cuz i haven’t really thought about ghostie dean in a while i can’t lie dude).

Their personalities are like, Dean is quite curious and a lil bit awkward as he’s been trapped in the spirit world for like the past 5-10(+?) years (i haven’t decided how long he’s gonna be dead yet (prolly closer to 5)) and so doesn’t understand mortal customs and stuff. Whilst fent is quite moral and well intentioned. So it’s probably gonna be the pair of them sharing a brain cell. I’m thinking it will be a lot of dean chirping in with random questions about the world (aka my excuse to infodump in my story and it be relevant) and fent telling dean cool stories from his life or the world. Maybe a little bit of Dean offering really dodgy suggestions to the problems they encounter, because his view of the world is kinda whack in places. Hes normal but occasionally he’ll come out with the most whack sentence you’ve ever heard.

All of it makes sense to Dean, because as a spirit everyone knows about The Candle Man (aka Wick God of Souls) however he is mostly unknown to the mortal world, and even to those who know of him, he’s not called ‘the candle man’. Basically there’s a lot of that going on.

Also i think Dean spends a lot of time just sprawled over Fent as a ghost. Like what do you mean he can’t curl around Fent’s shoulders like a lil creachure??? My lil touch starved ghost boy teehee

When PJ falls for someone he falls hard. PJ loves Puck despite the fact he uses bones as puzzles and craves blood and I just think it's a very freak 4 freak relationship. I've been MIA for a while but it was really nice to see you start a story again so I'm just curious how this story came to be. So far I love what I'm seeing and I hope this story goes well! now *cracks knuckles* time for me to tell y'all the story of how this new story decided to come into the picture

so rewind allllll the way back to february 2022. i was having issues with my saves so to check out what the fuck was causing this, i started a new save JUST TO TEST and so you know how they put you in cas when you first start a new game? the sim they gave me was actually super cute so i was like aw she cute i'll keep her in case i ever wanna do something with her or whatever. i saved her to my gallery, went and fixed whatever issue was happening to my saves, went back to my normal bullshit

fast forward to july 2022. my personal life in may and june was an absolutely nightmare. didn't touch sims for weeks bc i was so stressed and when it finally all settled by the time july came i didn't feel like doing anything serious with sims so i was like oh WAIT i remember that one sim i saved! lemme use her as a base and make a cute gameplay sim!

IN COMES RISA! she was just supposed to be a gameplay sim! that's why she's maxis mix bc i just wanted to vibe and have fun. so i move her into san myshuno's fashion district and start thinking about her backstory bc all fun, no story JUST FUN

but then guess who starts to interact with her when she moves in

and well. the storyteller in me couldn't resist. i was having so much fun with them and honestly doing something entirely new was a breath of fresh air, especially bc this story won't be as heavy and dramatic as redemption and sincerely, yours. i started plotting and eventually it turned into a story.

5. Do you respond to comments?

I try to unless the comment is kinda unhinged. I once had a really nice comment that switched gears midway thru to start in on a campaign to save the show my fic was based on getting nasty abt the network that canceled it and it just went off the rails, so in my head I was like thank u for that nice beginning but I'm just gonna walk slowly backwards away from this.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Even my saddest fics have some sort of silver lining. I don't like leaving my characters suffering w/o any hope. So probably the AU I wrote to my own otgw canon where I kill Beatrice off (Not) A Happy Story is the angstiest, but there's some hope by the end.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

idk I'm kind of partial to the ending of my iasip fic My Fair Charlie bc these are two characters who have been thru a lot in their lives and the scene in Charlie's room where he shows Dee his memory box is just sorta cute and innocent and gives me feelings.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

In the fandom that shall not be named, I got some. I never got any hate when I originally wrote for Twilight on ff.net but when I updated my fic from there to AO3 I got some.

9. Do you write smut?

Not really no. A handful of times and it's just sorta okay. I'm more of a write an intense lead-up and then fade to black writer. I'll leave the smut to ppl who can actually write it well (ie not me).

Yes! It was so weird. There was another Twilight fic that I was writing that I had let sit for a few years and then someone messaged me that it had been stolen, the names changed and put on some anime fanfic website. The person knew bc the name Jasper kept popping up in that person's fic when there was no character named Jasper. They thought that was weird so they googled a portion of the fic and mine came up. Anways, I messaged the site, but who knows if they did anything abt it and anyway, I took that particular fic down since I'm not in the fandom anymore and won't ever finish it.

My Twilight fic 'Change Heartache Into Courage' has been translated a few times.

I mean it changes all the time, but I suppose if you want to know the couple that has the highest word count from me since this is a fanfic meme then that would be Wirt and Beatrice.

I have a 38k 'Dragon Prince' fic that's been sitting since 2021. I'm not in the fandom anymore and got rid of Netflix, so even if I wanted to write my ability to watch the show is hindered. Still, I like the character development I wrote and maybe one day in the future I'll work on it again, but as of now, it's probably going to sit collecting dust for a v long time.

Long inner monologues and flirty, fluffy banter

Created a gender-swapped Aladdin AU when I was 13. Wrote 'Hey Arnold' fic in a HA forum in my teens. Posted my first "official" fanfic (Twilight) to livejournal when I was 28 then moved it over the ff.net midway thru the year and a half it took me to write it.

20. Favorite fic you've ever written?

A Perfect Sonnet bc even tho it's like 8 fics deep into my iylpp universe, I worked really hard to world-build and make it more high fantasy than fluffy slice-of-life stuff like I usually did for them. I'm not sure if I succeeded but I am proud of the effort I made.

My bf really likes to cook so he buys all these gadgets and finds recipes and stuff on YouTube to make like the best of the best stuff but sometimes I just want my nostalgic potatoes that my mom used to make me (even if they’re not as fancy). That sounds so rude like he’s literally making food for me and I’m complaining but I’m sure you’ll know what I mean and it’s not that.
