When are we going to talk about Halone and the commentary FFXIV seems to be making (again) on religion/belief systems? Because I'm 500% about it I'm just not articulate yet. But know it has been SEEN and DULY NOTED.

Anu and Padomay / Ану и Падомай
Anu, also known as Anu the Everything, is one of the two primordial concepts that have existed before Aurbis and the Void. Anu is an equal and opposite force to his counterpart, most commonly called Padomay, and is often considered to exist within all things and personifies order, stasis, and light. According to some, most notably those who worship Padomaic beings, Anu was nothing but a static force incapable of consciousness, personality, intent or will, being depicted as an immutable static force that does not change. Other accounts of Anu testify to him as encompassing everything.
Padomay, also known as Fadomai, Padhome, or PSJJJJ, is a primordial deity who personifies the concepts of chaos and change. Padomay is always associated with its equal yet opposite force, Anu, and is heavily associated with the creation of the Aurbis.
History
Anu is neither an Aedra nor a Daedra; he predates the creation of both groups and played a part in their creation with his counterpart Padomay. In The Annotated Anuad, it is stated that, when Anu and Padomay came into being, they both engaged in combat over Nir, who was "created from their interplay" and birthed the Twelve Worlds of Creation. Anu and Padomay fought over Nir, who died in the process. Anu then created Nirn out of the remainder of the Twelve Worlds. Padomay, who Anu already thought dead, stabbed him through the chest, resulting in Anu pulling himself and Padomay out of time forever.
According to this account, the et'Ada were created when Anu and Padomay's blood was spilled. Their mixed blood supposedly gave birth to the Aedra, while Anu's blood became the Magna Ge and Padomay's blood would end up giving birth to the Daedra. However, the authenticity of this clash is still debatable.
In Aldmeri belief, Anu birthed his own soul after his battle with Padomay, so that he could understand himself and self-reflect. This reborn soul was known as Anui-El and, in turn, became the soul of all things. However, as Anu created Anui-El, Padomay birthed his own soul, Sithis, who represented all the limitations of Anui-El. Anui-El then noticed that the world created in their conflict, the Aurbis, was turbulent and chaotic. In order to stabilize the Aurbis and further his self-reflection, Anui-El birthed his own soul in the same way as Anu before him. Anui-El's soul was known as Auri-El and began a new force known as time. Time allowed the realm of Aurbis to realize its natures and limitations, and thus the et'Ada born from the blood finally began to take forms and names.
When Anu birthed its own soul to create Anui-El, Padomay, being Anu's opposite did the same and created Sithis. Sithis and Anui-El's interplay and the conditions they set on each other would be what formed the Aurbis.
It is believed that all Daedric Princes are purely Padomaic and contributed nothing to the creation of Mundus and that the Aedra are both Anuic and Padomaic. Whether this is true or not is unknown, but there do seem to be deities that contradict this, most notably the Daedric Prince Meridia who was one of the Magna Ge, implying that she did contribute to the creation of Mundus and that she was partially Anuic.
The Psijic Order was first founded to divine Padomay's eternal and ever-changing mystery, as it was their belief that Padomay was just as ineffable as Anu was. The Order took the name "Psijic," which is based on the Ehlnofex translation for Padomay, PSJJJJ, a word that is purposefully unpronounceable.

Trivia
Anu, known more commonly as "An," is the name of the Mesopotamian creator deity.
In Sumerian, Anu means "heaven," "sky," or "god."
The deities that are on the side of Anu or reflect similar character traits are often referred to as "Anuic." The most well-known ones are the Aedra who followed Auri-El.
The story of Anu and Padomay mirrors the concept of Taoism's yin yang, the concept of contrary forces are complementary, and interact with each other.
The name PSJJJJ was intended as "a riff on YHWH in its aspect as unknowable name of God." (by Kirkbride)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

actually you know what i will post it it. the post in question from reddit i made:
Hermaeus Mora and connections to Anu or Nir
It's been established if the Annotated Anuad is to be taken as gospel that the Daedric Princes are  Padomaic , his blood becoming the spirits that would later go on to become the Daedra, where as the Aedra are born from the mingled blood of Padomay and Anu, thus have the capacity for both good and evil and creator capacity for collaborative creation we see through the creation of Mundus. We can also establish through various texts Anu represents stasis, and by that extension preservation against change and order. For if everything is changing always, then it's hard to keep track of anything as it keeps getting destroyed and remade before it can "be".
Hermaeus Mora has been a difficult one for me to understand. He seems in some texts separate from the other Daedric princes. One account says he was born from the leftover bits of creation when they made mortality--a very unusual origin. However, I think this is also not entirely true; other lore implies he is much older than other Daedra, and by this logic he would be younger than the et'Ada who would go on to become the other Daedric princes. Yet still, this shows Hermaeus Mora has a stronger connection to creation than the other Daedra, something born from the mixing of Anu and Padomay.
It could simply be a fluke. Certainly Lorkhan/Shor is not all Anu influence, he is strongly associated with Padomay, pushing back on Akatosh/Auriel. It would be oversimplification to assume every single et'Ada who would reject Lorkhan's proposal must be Padomaic and lack a larger connection to Anu just as it would discredit the Padomiac influences of Lorkhan.
Yet, if we tie in the creation myth that says he was the leftover bits of mortality during creation, that means he shares some similarities with Nir, born from the intermingling of Anu and Padomay after time began. That, or he could be connected to creation itself, born from Anu and Nir. But I think he doesn't embody the change of creation as much, instead he is very focused on records, memories, and preservation of knowledge. He seeks to uncover secrets rather than change and shape the world. To keep them in clear cut records, and know definitively what has happened and what will happen. An order to the madness, the hidden truths that have it all make sense.
To me, this seems like a sort of twisted, strange aspect of Anu, of order. Focused on reality, as strange or secretive as it may be. His enemy being Vaermina, who could be seen as the opposite: she hungers for fantasy, of things that don't yet exist or will never exist. She inspires change--pure, destructive change with no thought or question of morals, just for one's own pleasure be it destructive wrath or power. In this, she could be a good Padomaic opposite if Hermaeus Mora is seen as the most Anu influenced of the Daedric Princes. Yet both seem to hunger for memories to their own ends, which is an interesting similarity they have.
Mainly I bring this up because I have been thinking about it a lot. I don't have anything concrete to go off of obviously and I'm alright being wrong. We don't have a lot of concrete lore about Hermaeus Mora's origins and he is a very mysterious prince given his sphere of influence. Yet when I look at lore about him I always feel like something is missing. Something making him stand out from other Daedra and et'Ada that shows up in the lore. Or maybe I'm just making a mountain our of a mole hill and forcing patterns where there aren't any. I'd like to know everyone else's thoughts and if anyone else gets a weird vibe from Hermaeus Mora's origins, or alternate perspectives.

At the start of it all, before the first snow fell and, aye, before there was even a Nirn for the snow to fall on, Shor sat in the throne of Sovngarde and all was good.
Now, we all know Sovngarde: it's a great hall of feasting and fighting and... loving, where all great warriors will some day go. Shor is its king and always he has reigned. His days were spent feasting, and fighting, and ahem; he hunted great stags in the fields and quaffed great mugs of mead and sang a great number of songs at great volumes. His hall was always full, and all loved him greatly, and all was good.
But one day Shor woke up, aye, as I'm sure we've all woken up, with a head that felt cleaved by an axe. He peeled his face out the puddle of mead he'd been sleeping in and looked around him at his hall, and he saw Sovngarde, of course, where all is good. Clutching his splitting head, he climbed to his feet and he said:
"What am I doing? What is the point of this all? Where is the challenge against which I might prove myself? Where is the failure that lets me triumph? Where is the disgrace against which my glory shines? By me! What am I doing?"
For he saw true that day (although I'm sure the light hurt his eyes): Sovngarde was not good. How could it be, when there was no such thing as bad! How could Shor be glorious, when he lived such an easy life!
So around the hall Shor went, rousing all his companions. He kicked Tsun in the ribs, pulled Stuhn from the rafters, shook Kyne out her bed and Dibella out Kyne's bed and Mara out Kyne's bed too. He doused water on Herma-Mora's face and pulled Dagon out a barrel and even roused sleepless Jhunal from his scribbling. And he told them what he had seen, and that this could not go on. And because Shor is Shor, and he's quite persuasive, all agreed with him.
So all the gods and all the people of Shor's mead-hall set about building. Because there was no Nirn yet (and aye, this is what they were building), all their material had to come from Shor's hall. They cut down the rafters for lumber, used whale-bones as supports, chipped away at the mantle for stones, and scooped up ash from the hearth as mortar. From these things they crafted trees, and mountains, and plains, and tundras, and glaciers, and auroras, and the moons, and the sun. Herma-Mora even spun their memories into water to make rivers and oceans. They worked and they labored and they stripped Sovngarde bare and they built something new and by the end they all stepped back and looked at what they'd done. And they thought it was very, very good.
But there was one group who didn't help build Nirn, and this is the dragons. Now, make no mistake, in those days Alduin and his brothers were welcome in Sovngarde and reveled like the rest of them. But dragons are lazy, which is why they take slaves. While the others were building, Alduin and his ilk would just lay around and stuff their faces. "Why are they working so hard?" asked they (though it sounded funny for all the meat in their gobs). "Don't they see Sovngarde is already good? Hey, you, put down your tools and come feast with us!" But the gods heeded not their calls, and even Shor, who they loved to feast with most, ignored them. So the dragons grew very bitter, and none more bitter than Alduin.
Then came the day when Nirn was finished. Men, I need not tell you how glorious Nirn is, for we all see it with our own eyes. The gods all gathered around to admire it: how imperfect! How perilous! How fraught with danger! There was much badness in Nirn, just as they dreamed of. And in a place with so much badness, they could all finally see what was good.
But just as they were admiring their handiwork, Alduin came floating over with his brothers. "What's this, Shor!" cried Alduin. "I have just been into your Hall, and there is no meat in the hearths, no barrels of mead, no roasting oxen to feast upon!"
"Yes, brother," said Shor proudly. "We've taken them and used them to build something new! There's going to be a change around here-- this is my new Hall, which is Nirn, and we will no longer live our lives in easy luxury, but struggle and earn those good things."
But Alduin was furious, he stomped his feet and flapped his wings. "I HATE change!" cried he. "I want to feast and revel! And if this new world of yours stops me from doing so, I will destroy it all!"
So Alduin and his dragons rushed forwards and began to destroy Shor's new Hall! They ripped up the mountains, tore up the plains, shattered the tundra and burned down the forest and melted the glaciers with a fiery yol.
Shor and all his gods rushed forwards to defend Nirn, and a great war happened, of which all Nords know, and of which I shan't speak here. And at the end of it the dragons were defeated, but not before they had broken and ruined Nirn! Even mighty Shor fell in the fighting, ripped in half by Alduin's claws, and Tsun fell by his side.
Weeping, the gods gathered round the ruins of this new thing they'd made. They could repair it, they knew, if only they had materials! But they had stripped Shor's hall to the bone and nothing was left with which to build. They wept and were in despair.
Then mother-Kyne stepped forwards. In her grief she sheared off her hair, which became thunder-clouds. And she pulled her breath from her lungs, which became wind. And her tears for her husband fell to the ground and became the first snow. And she said to her fellow-gods, "I will use my body to rebuild this thing Shor made."
And one by one the people of Shor's hall came forwards. They laid themselves down to become trees in the forest, and curled up in balls to become mountains, and fell between the hills to become glaciers, and stretched their arms wide to become plains and tundras. So many of Shor's people gave themselves up that soon Nirn was even more vast and more splendid and more surprising than it had ever been before. The volunteers were so many that some couldn't fit, and instead they became trees and mushrooms and foxes and deer and bears. And others still gave themselves to Nirn in wonder, and became the new revelers of Shor's Hall, the first men.
But Alduin, who was stricken but not defeated, saw this act of love and he hated it. So, while nobody was looking, he went to Shor's corpse and pulled out his heart. And, wickedly, he stole away into Shor's new Hall, and hid the heart somewhere deep and secret, so that no funeral-rites could be done, and Shor could never return to Sovngarde. Then he flew away, vowing to one day return and devour Shor's creation as payment for the feasting Shor had stolen to create it.
So now we live on Nirn, which is full of a great number of things. We walk on the bones of those who used themselves to build Shor's creation. We struggle and we face great adversary, and when we die, we will enter Sovngarde, and build it anew, and, having known badness, we will see that all is good.

"The blood of Padomay became the Daedra. The blood of Anu became the stars. The mingled blood of both became the Aedra (hence their capacity for good and evil, and their greater affinity for earthly affairs than the Daedra, who have no connection to Creation)."

the storyteller in me likes the fact that the classic Enantiomorph between Lorkhan/Magnus/Auriel isn’t padomaic-nirnic-anuic, since nothing besides Anu and Padomay could be fully anuic/padomaic no I don’t believe the Annotated Anuad. instead it’s probably like Lorkhan is idk 70% padomaic, 30% anuic, vice versa with Auriel. Magnus being somewhere between them (Aurbic? probably more Anuic). But also i hate the fact that Magnus can’t be called Nirnic because he doesn’t live there! He lives in a hole in the sky

i’m also interested in this quote from the words of clan mother ahnissi:
And Fadomai gave birth to the Moons and their Motions. And she gave birth to Nirni, the majestic sands and lush forests. And she gave birth to Azurah, the dusk and the dawn.
i wonder why the ja-kha’jay and nirni and azurah were all born “in the same litter,” so to speak? the anuad attributes nir as the mother of creation, and counts nirn the planet separately. to the khajiit, nirni is the “majestic sands and lush forests,” which might be conflating her with the planet nirn itself and its physical landscape. so the moons masser and secunda, as well as the planet nirn itself, were born together, which makes sense, more or less, based on their significance. and, assuming azurah is not just included here because of preexisting khajiiti bias for her, it would seem she is also heavily important by association.
so what is her importance? we know she’s the gate of dawn and dusk, so perhaps she is some sort of intermediary between the moons (if they’re actually alive at all, which is definitely questionable) and magnus? but another hint at a possible greater significance is that she is the mistress of dawn and dusk. she might have some connection not only to the dawn itself, but also the transition from dawn to linear time.
now what on earth could connect azura to time at all? i have three (not necessarily self-exclusive) ideas.
1) azura, like meridia, may have at some point been counted among the magna-ge - but perhaps before their exodus to begin with. the magna-ge, such as mnemoli and merid-nunda, are known to have a connection with time, usually its irregularities. perhaps “azura’s star” in the sky is evidence of her past association with the star orphans.
2) being the Gate of Dawn and Dusk may indicate her importance in the Event, rather than Time Itself. if Time is a Sequence of Events, if the Event-Gate never opens, Time cannot proceed. perhaps this makes her an actually surprisingly important figure in convention.
as evidence, consider this quote from zurin arctus that we see in morrowind’s opening cinematic, which is, remember, a dream given to us by azura:
"Each Event is preceded by Prophecy. But without the Hero, there is no Event."
now there’s no connection between arctus and azura that i’m aware of, but he might have gained this knowledge as a result of being blasted into aetherius and becoming undead, and maybe his connection to the other underking, ysmir wulfharth.
this quote seems to imply that where Prophecy is concerned, not only must the Event-Gate be opened, it must be opened by a Hero, in this case referring to the nerevarine.
3) perhaps azura is the prince most responsible for the scheme that cursed jyggalag (or anui-el) with madness. jyggalag’s library is said to contain a detailed listing of all events that will ever happen throughout history, which might seem nice and orderly, but if everything is known, is that much different from compressing every moment in time to one moment - i.e. the dawn? in order for time to actually get rolling, for moments to happen that azura could mediate and that auri-el could control, jyggalag had to be disposed of somehow. and so he was.
again, i think all 3 might be possible, either together or by themselves. but this definitely puts azura much closer to center-stage in the arena than she would probably like us to believe.

thoughts on the relationship between Hermaeus Mora and Mephala? The Anuad says that they're "siblings" but aside from the fact that both take joy in pulling strings they don't seem very similar, mostly because mora seems very antic while mephala seems very padomaic
i like it! i think that they were counterparts in the very early dawn era and were involved with secrets-- mephala would gather knowledge, hermaeus mora would store it. eventually hermaeus mora got involved with auri-el’s court and the matter of prophecies, whereas mephala formed a connection with lorkhan, but they still often barter in secrets. gossip queens

The Dreamer
For @tes-summer-fest- Day 1- Prompt: Dreams
This is a rather vague interpretation of the prompt, but I'm gonna go ahead and count the Anuad in my head as canon.
~
The beggars in the Imperial City Are poor only in the gold they earn Sharp ears outside the White-Gold tower You can't imagine what we learn
I don't mean petty secrets And I don't mean to seem Like I condone theft I mean only to dream
I have an image so clear Gold fountains in tall manors Where I stand absolute command And they march to my banners
In sleep, these come as prophecy I paint them on the canvas of night They are real, if only to me Others are blinded by the light
But I have heard the priests Their Dreamer is a man like me His night lasts for five ages And after that we cease to be
Then are we here now? Does this body exist? Does hunger, war, death? Or shimmer and fade like mist?
I know more than them They seek reality in their head Wherein dwell thoughts all shaky True reality is fighting for bread
Hunger is not a dream, friends! This pain runs too dark and deep For it to be a painless vision Numbed in the relief of sleep
All of it, all real, real; Mine will be just as real
It is not deathly idling My stately manors are not illusory The world being what it is They are as real as my misery

Ehlnofey / Эльнофей
"On the world of Nirn, all was chaos. The only survivors of the twelve worlds of Creation were the Ehlnofey and the Hist. The Ehlnofey are the ancestors of Mer and Men. The Hist are the trees of Argonia." ―The Annotated Anuad
Ehlnofey, also known as the Earth Bones, are the faded descendants of the Aedra who walked on Nirn, as well as the ancestors of men and mer.
Background
A large fragment of the Ehlnofey world landed on Nirn relatively intact, and the Ehlnofey living there were the ancestors of the Mer. These Ehlnofey fortified their borders from the chaos outside, hid their pocket of calm, and attempted to live on as before. Other Ehlnofey arrived on Nirn scattered amid the confused jumble of the shattered worlds, wandering and finding each other over the years.
Eventually, the Wandering Ehlnofey found the hidden land of Old Ehlnofey, and were amazed and joyful to find their kin living amid the splendor of ages past. The Wandering Ehlnofey expected to be welcomed into the peaceful realm, but the Old Ehlnofey looked on them as degenerates, fallen from their former glory. For whatever reason, war broke out, and raged across the whole of Nirn.
The Old Ehlnofey retained their ancient power and knowledge, but the Wandering Ehlnofey were more numerous, and toughened by their long struggle to survive on Nirn. This war reshaped the face of Nirn, sinking much of the land beneath new oceans, and leaving the continents that would be later known as Tamriel, Akavir, Pyandonea and Atmora; with Yokuda having been completely sunk beneath the ocean's surface while Aldmeris became ruined and lost to time. The remnants of the Wanderers were left divided on the other three continents.
The Wandering Ehlnofey are the ancestors of Men and the Old Ehlnofey are the ancestors of Mer, according to The Annotated Anuad. However, the Monomyth claims that the human races (or one race) were created originally and the Elnofey are not related to them. Thus, the question of the origin of the humans is ambiguous, but given that mers and humans may share a common offspring, it can be assumed that they are related species.
The witches of the Beldama Wyrd in High Rock venerate the Ehlnofey, calling them the Guardians. They have guided the witches since they first found the Wyrd Tree. In 2E 582, the machinations of Angof the Gravesinger caused these Ehlnofey to be imprisoned, but through the actions of the Vestige and the witches of Beldama Wyrd, they regained their freedom.

Ehlnofey the water guardian /

This is an excerpt from the translated version of the Anuan mythos document, the Anuad. I’m translating the Anuad (which is very incomplete at about 20,000 words of legends and myths in the style of the Silmarillion) as an exercise in vocabulary-building and to allow myself to run in to grammatical questions that I’ll have to answer. It lets me think about the language in the context of folklore, culture, and story, and therefore generate vocabulary in a more interesting way than literal translation.
The phonetics are based on Welsh and the words are mostly bastardizations of various Celtic languages, morphed in a way that fits the fictional culture more. The meter sounds like Hebrew since the inflection follows a similar pattern (emphasis on every second-to-last syllable with a few exceptions), and the script itself (which I’ll post in a second) is based on Semitic languages like Hebrew and Arabic, which a lot of visual flow and no set vowels
My goal is to at least create a script and some working vocabulary for each of the five major languages in Western Zephyria and maybe a few basic things for other languages on Anua. Nittavi however will be the one with the most focus since it’s the protagonist’s native tongue.
