In a hall recently acquired clam shell sits on an intricately carved late seventeenth-century Irish mahogany table that came from a house in County Leix. The table is carved on both sides and designed to stand in the centre of a room rather than against a wall.

The ''Two Dog Palette,'' Predynastic Period ca. 3300-3100 BC,
The both sides of the two dog palette are carved in low relief with scenes depicting the frenzy of an animal hunt.
The imagery includes real animals, such as the pair of Cape hunting dogs that frame the top (from which the palette takes its name) and a mixture of fabulous animals.
Made of siltstone, 42.5 x 22 cm.

Nature Inspired: Golden Cicada Resting On a Jade Leaf
Exquisite ornament of the Ming dynasty.
Total weight of the insect figurine, made of 95% pure gold, is 4.65 g. The thickness of the finely crafted wings is only 2 mm.
Unearthed in Boshiwu (博士塢), Wufeng Mountain, Suzhou. Now exhibited in Nanjing Museum (南京博物院).
