Viral Celtic coronation chant raises £15,000 for Glasgow food bank
“Supporters took a stand against King Charles III's coronation with the chant: ‘You can shove your Coronation up your a***.’ Their vocal protest could be heard when the Parkhead side took on Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final last month.
“The clip, taken by Celts Are Here, appeared on BBC’s Have I Got News For You on Friday ... After being rewarded £200 from the BBC for the clip, Celts Are Here decided to use the money to start a JustGiving page for local Glasgow NE Foodbank.
“A Celts Are Here spokesperson told the Glasgow Times: ‘It’s been a collective effort ... Our clip of the Celtic fans singing their displeasure at the Coronation has really struck a chord and opened a debate about celebrating and publicly funding the already vastly wealthy royal family. We thought it was only right that the fee we received from BBC’s Have I Got News For You went to help those experiencing extreme hardship during an unprecedented cost-of-living crisis.’”

I MEAN but wouldn't that be an incredible isekai series??
a modern princess whose job is basically just being a beautiful figurehead
grows bored with her vapid role in life and withdraws from society, riddled with ennui
only to fall into a fantasy realm where princesses have real political power
as well as important responsibilities that her subjects depend upon
and at first it's a comedy of errors as she realizes that none of her training prepared her for this
but then she grows as a person and applies herself to learning how to guide and guard this kingdom
and becomes the powerful and just princess she was always meant to be
...so I guess apparently my new favorite conspiracy theory is that kate's shoujo manga just underwent a MASSIVE genre switch.
#realistic royal meet-cutes are OUT fantasy realms in need of strong leadership are IN#I don't know what the hell is in WOW I've never played it I just made up a fantasy realm in my head#I'm an American so being anti-monarchist is in my blood#but along with the magic and mythical creatures part of the fantasy is that monarchies are cool here#so that's all right#kategate#kate middleton

people acting like its some terrible shame that anyone was speculating about Kate Middleton's whereabouts now we know its cancer. Oh shame for ever making fun of shitty photoshop jobs, don't you know she has cancer??
Nah mate. She married into a rich and powerful family thats been leeching of the British public and wider world for decades, centuries even. She is going to be given top treatment, probably at the expense of others. Hell despite the cock up they kept her out of the public eye for months so that's not a big stress either.
I'm sure it sucks for her and her rich spawn. I might even say I feel bad for the younger kids. I dont wish cancer on anyone but Charles etc, etc.
But lets not act like she's some poor single mother waiting on the NHS. Struggling on benefits or struggling to work while on chemo. Trying to feed her kids during cost of living crisis. Trying to just find time to be with them.
Kate has all the money in the world, her kids are in top schools with lots of rich relatives. They could easily be taken out of school and taught by top tutors to be more flexible with her health. She will likely be fine. And even if she isn't? She'll have had the best chance out of anyone. She would have the most comfort possible and people around her until the end.
So no. I literally do not care. I have no guilt or grief over memeing the every loving fuck out of a PR cockup by a bunch of royal leeches. To act like I should is absolute bollocks.
#anti monarchy#like i do not give a shit at fucking all#my parents are like oh nooo it was cancer 🥺🥺🥺#*incorrect buzzer* nope dont care. she's fucking rich#anyway its boring now all the monarchists are brown nosing poor kate#royal family#uk politics#kind of#and i fucking hate that its even in the same ball park#disband the monarchy

i'm starting to warm up to the idea of zuko abolishing the monarchy altogether since the fire nation having a new monarch always felt like a bandage solution to me especially when years of colonialism and genocide are never really solved in canon (and i'm not even gonna get into the problems with monarchism in general), additionally at the end of lok, the earth kingdom monarchy so idk why the fn monarchy also can't abolished. plus maybe zuko would realize that ruling the fire nation isn't for him since he has no emotional support (which is compliant with canon), is more comfortable being a normal person, and probably moves to the south pole to be with a certain waterbender...
#zuko#atla critical#anti atla comics#zutara#avatar the last airbender#fantasy in general has a problem with romanticizing monarchy so it would be refreshing to see more anti-monarchist fantasy

OK. OK. Let's believe he's a good man. But his second-in-command - is he a good man too? You'd better hope so. Because he's the supreme ruler, too, in the name of the king. And the rest of the court... they've got to be good men. Because if just one of them's a bad man the result is bribery and patronage.

Uh oh, looks like Christopher Eccleston's social media manager couldn't stop him this time!
[image ID: a screenshot of an Instagram post from Christopher Eccleston, his URL and profile picture (of a monkey) above the post. The image is of the front of a white house, the blue door has seven white A4 pieces of paper strung over it in a horizontal row along a string, like bunting. Above the house, but still within the post, are black words on a white background, reading "Thank god I kept that bunting from the jubilee last year". Each piece of paper has a letter on, hand written in blue ink. When read in order, it reads "F U C K O F F", or "fuck off". End ID]

to me the fact that the narrator makes the shifting mound take the form of a princess is so funny
he had to pick something that was the right mix of not a difficulty to kill and something we wouldn't have a qualm ending the life of and he seriously thought, hmm. yeah. princess.
#I love the implication that he is heavily anti-monarchist#and assumed that we would be as well bc he created us#he could've made her a rat and said he had hired us as an exterminator#but no#like. the answer he was truly expecting was the 'I've always wanted to off a royal' one#which is honestly so real of him#you go narrator#(also if any worlds were ended it was his fault)#but that's for a different post#stp#slay the princess#stp the narrator

‘Not my king,’ they chanted. Then the police took their megaphones
“They had come for the day dressed in spring yellow, in contrast to the uniform red, white and blue of the hats and waistcoats and umbrellas of the crowds around them. As the royal procession passed on its way to Westminster Abbey, they made sure that the three-word opinion of perhaps a quarter of the British public was heard above the clatter of the Household Cavalry, at a volume unfamiliar from previous state occasions: ‘Not my king!’
“The Republic protest had been organised with the full cooperation and blessing of the Met. Security minister Tom Tugendhat referred to it as evidence that the coronation day would present Britain to the world as a ‘showcase of liberty’. That had not stopped the chief executive of Republic, Graham Smith, and five of his supporters from being arrested at 7.30 on Saturday morning as they arrived in the square to unpack placards. Those who witnessed the arrest were unsure about the basis on which they had been held. It was assumed that the police were exercising the vague new powers against protest that had rushed through to royal assent on Wednesday ...
“I’d spoken to Smith, 49, earlier in the week when he and some of those supporters who were later arrested were hand-painting their signs in an office space in King’s Cross ... ‘I think what’s interesting is it has coincided with the fag-end of a very unpopular Tory government, the cost of living crisis, and all the other hardships the country is going through,’ he said. ‘For the first time, mainstream journalists have linked royal expenditure with things like the financial scandals around Boris Johnson’s wallpaper’ ...
“Predictably, he said, the more rigid the efforts of the crown and the government to impose bunting and oaths, the more their support grew ... Saturday’s arrests, no doubt, will provide another growth opportunity.”

“You're talking as though hotd & f&b is set in a modern world where monarchies are only around for tradition and pretty well obsolete. In grrm's world, a medieval world, rulers like king's, queens, lords, and ladies are necessary to keep the peace. I'm an avid reader of history and while I'm not a monarchist in the 21st century, I do understand how important they were way back when, when democracy and governments didn't exist”
this is what I get in response to telling team black people that Rhaenyra didn’t “need” the throne, and that yes, wanting it at all is out of greed, the same as the greens.
#I’m not even gonna dignify this shit with a response#Anti team black#anti fucking monarchists what the hell 😭#Hotd#rhaenyra targaryen

I’m no stranger to bad Disney villain discourse, but “King Magnifico was actually a good person” is really up there. The man is an absolute monarch who surgically removes his citizens’ ability to question his authority the instant they become adults and then only gives it back after carefully auditing them for any potential rebellious tendencies. “Sorry Asha, your dad wanted to play the lute and inspire the younger generation but what might he inspire them to? Greed? Envy? Democracy?” Oceania wishes it had what Magnifico has, Rosas is a horrific dystopia with a pretty theme song.
#Disney wish#and the instant he perceives ANY threat to his power the one thing he held back drops#the fact that he thinks he’s doing the right thing doesn’t make him less evil it just makes him more dangerous#seriously if they had stuck to their guns and made Amaya evil this would be one hell of an anti monarchist story#absolute power corrupts absolutely and any show of benevolence is a thin skin that will rupture at the slightest pressure#king magnifico
