A reminder for people on why the "Anti Ser'Darius Blain" tag is used. He is an ableist who enjoys using the r slur and has yet to apologize.

Oh! This is such a cool theory. I love the original but I can't deny it had major flaws. The racial insensitivity, cultural appropriation and the, hopefully accidental, racism such as this episode highlights. Brad Kern was a terrible showrunner and screwed up so much about the series. I'm so glad the reboot exists to fix these issues. That being said I loved the character of Ava. I do wonder now if this was intentional. I just wish Galvin was as interesting as Ava. If it was intentional playing up that connection could make Galvin a much improved character.
Theory: Galvin Burdette is Reboot!Ava Nicolae
Tumblr media
@charmed-autistic asked me if there were character from Charmed'98 that I wanted to see adapted to the Reboot, and when I started Really thinking about it, I realized a character who’d already been Adapted.
I realized that the entire Yoruba plot was a rebooted and infinitely improved version of the gross failure that was Charmed'98s G***y Episode.
*for the sake of this post I’ll be using the term “Romani Witch” instead of the slur they used to identity Ava.*
The Episode “The Eyes have it” (which I heard somewhere was written as a backdoor pilot for a Spinoff that would have centered in Ava) introduced us to Ava, an ER doctor who is a member of a long line of powerful Romani Witches with the sacred duty to protect their people. But who’s bitter refusal to accept her families “Superstition” had literally blinded her to Magic. It wasn’t until her families Arch Nemesis “The G***y Hunter” who had been blinded and forced underground returned and killed the only family Ava had left, starting with family matriarch Madame Theresa who made her living as a Fortune Teller, that she was forced to accept Magic. Where the Warren Line was tied to the Wiccan protective symbol of the Triquetra, Ava’s line were tied to their own cultural equivalent, The Evil Eye. Ava had no Active Powers as far as we know.
***********
Galvin said he was raised around his grandmothers religion, and she was always talking about “Witches&Demons and that kinda stuff” but until he saw Harry and Hunter pulled into Tartarus he’d ways dismissed it was “Superstition”.
Galvin was the one who vanquished the Demon in Witch Perfect. It could have been that Anyone could have played The Devils Tritone and it would’ve worked, but IMO it’d be better if it was Galvin using Magic he didn’t know he has.
They could be using the Mark his grandmother put on him as his families symbol.

We don't hate Galvin because of Hacy. We hate him because he's a toxic, shit character played by an untalented bastard.
I say this as someone who doesn't ship Hacy and would prefer that it didn't happen.
Stop using shipping wars as an excuse to dismiss people when they call out your annoying 'problematic fave.'
Galvin is just a terrible character.
Not sorry.

If Mel and Maggie's loss does turn out to be Ray hopefully we can gain more insight into what he knew about the love triangle involving him, Dexter, and Marisol. I'm very interested in how these relationships came to be. I would love an episode that is like the That 70's Episode in the og where the sisters go back in time and see their past as children. But we also get to see Dexter, Ray and Marisol during that time and what life was like for them, especially where it concerns their daughters.
If that's what happens I would be kinda okay with it but I would prefer to see them grow a bond with him. I have to admit I am a sucker for parental redemption stories, within reason obviously. That's why I love Victor's arc so much in the original and would like to see something similar repeated with Ray.

Charmed Reboot 01x13 Review
Rating:
1.5 out of 5
Plot: “Parker informs Maggie about a mysterious death on campus that might be of a demonic nature; Galvin remembers something from his grandma's stories that could help Macy overcome her dark side.”
The plot was pathetically bad. That's being polite. It screamed that the writers were totally just throwing in whatever they could to appear to be #woke.
Imagine the most unhip great-grandparent trying to seem cool to their preteen great-grandchildren. That's the vibe I got from this episode.
You'll see from my review I have way more negatives than positives.
Positives:
Jada, Parker and Harry are what saved this episode from getting an even lower rating. Sorry not sorry.
Jada was so interesting to watch. She is so very complex and brings a lot to explore. Can we get a Jada centric episode already? She was by far the best thing about this episode.
Jada is adopted. That explains how she's supposed to be a Witchlighter but her parents supposedly didn't know about magic. So at least we got some answers there.
Parker was cute and sweet this episode. I love him. He's really working to redeem himself. I don't think he's there yet but he's making progress. I definitely value people working hard to become better versions of themselves. Personal growth is awesome.
Are the writers trying to kill me!? Harry has been a stud who was too sexy for words. Then they went and put him in skinny jeans, glasses and a leather jacket. All my weaknesses. My poor heart can't take It.
I liked how they talked about how disgusting it is to have your agency and free will taken away. The sisters didn't allow Chloe to blame herself for something that wasn't her fault. They protected and validated her.
Also, there is something beautiful about women helping each other regain their freedom and power.
Negatives:
The horrid manic pixie dream girl trope has been deconstructed and critiqued about as many times as it's been used. There is absolutely nothing new to say about it. Why dedicate an entire episode to it? Mention it in passing sure but there's not enough to say about it for it to be a focus for an episode.
Another place where I think they went so terribly wrong is that they tried to introduce too much comedy into such a dark plot. It was quite inconsistent in tone.
Once again Galvin was shoved down our throats. I have spoken ad nauseum about how toxic and horrid Galvin is with Macy. So I won't go into it again during this episode. Just know he continues to piss me off. Macy isn't just a prize to be won.
Lastly, I don't like to see Jada hurting. They better fix that next episode or I'll probably wind up going on yet another rant. Let Jada be happy! DANG IT!!!!
Favorite Character this episode:
Jada, beyond a shadow of a doubt. If there was more of her I might of actually liked the episode.
Favorite Quote or Scene:
I loved the whole Parker/Maggie/Mel/Macy scene on the steps. It was such a cute scene without going overboard.
Also all the Jada/Mel scenes were so freaking good.
Theories/What I’d like to see:
I need to see more of Jada's history.
It appears that next episode is gonna be mostly filler, if the preview is anything to go by.
References to the Original:
The ending scene made me think of darklighters but I doubt that's where they are going to go with it. Maybe I am reading too much into that since I have been talking and thinking about darklighters a bunch lately.
Tidbits:
Can the writers make it a regular thing where we get to see Harry in sexy outfits!? Harry in form fitting jeans is a beautiful sight to behold.
Please join me for the next episode. Please send plenty of asks and messages. Thank you!

Note
why does everyone hate the actor that plays galvin (I don't know what happend)
Our main reasons are these:
He used ableist slurs on Twitter to make fun of people who disagreed with him. When he was called out he didn't apologize.
He is in general a hateful person.
He is just an untalented hack.

Charmed Reboot 01x12 Review
Rating:
4.5 out of 5
Plot: “Macy goes against Harry's advice and summons a necromancer, which puts her and Maggie in harm's way; with Lucy's encouragement, Maggie attends a frat party to help her get over Parker; Mel helps Harry, who is struggling with his regained memories.”
The plot was well structured and well written.
All the emotional beats landed.
Unnecessary characters were not there to weight down the episode.
However some parts of the episode were less stellar than others.
Alistair is back in the picture.
Positives:
The biggest positive is Galvin was absent this episode. Look at how great and marvelous Macy was this episode. This helps validate my point that Macy is a much superior character when she is allowed to shine and Galvin isn't there blocking her light.
The necromancer was an interesting character for most of the episode. The actress who played her was quite interesting and talented.
Parker is back and actually had a significant plotline. I love it!!
I love how Macy's storyline progressed this episode. She got the answers she need even if they were extremely painful.
I love how Harry and Parker were able to help Macy in their own way. They were each able to connect to her and ease her mind in ways only they can.
However, it was so important that the love and empathy from her baby sister was the only thing that could pull her back from the edge.
I did find it very realistic and in character that the only thing that could push her to the dark side was someone harming her family. I don't see Macy going to such a dark place any other way.
Mel and Harry's storyline this episode was beautiful.
I liked how Harry came to the conclusion that no matter how much he loved his son he couldn't re-enter his life and his life now resides with his new found family who still need him.
We got to see more Maggie bonding with both Lucy and Parker. My little OT3 heart sang.
Negatives:
The whole party premise was a little weird. It felt forced. They could have attended a regular party instead of this TMI one.
Making the necromancer as a liar and evil negates all the good that came out of the character. She made a good cause that could of been marvelous send up to real life. She talked about being imprisoned who are innocent. She talked about how just because those in charge tell you a group is evil you shouldn't believe them. She also talked about how you shouldn't judge based on predisposed viewpoints.
Making her evil kind of negates all the good points she brought up and kinda sends the message that you should listen to those in power and they are always correct.
That sends a hugely dangerous narrative considering the current political landscape.
I don't think I care for the plot point of Lucy being controlled by Alistair.
Favorite Character this episode:
It's a tie between Macy and Harry. Both had beautiful arcs this episode.
Favorite Quote or Scene:
Mel comforting Harry after he metaphorically said goodbye to his son.
Theories/What I’d like to see:
From what it's hinting, I think Alistair is wanting Maggie and Parker to have a child. Maybe he wants to try again at making another vessel for the source.
Another possibility is that this was his long-term goal to begin with. To make a child born of a demon and a Charmed one to host the source.
References to the Original:
Maggie drowning in the shower was a call back to when Prue want through the same thing.
Macy stopping someone's heart felt like it may have been a reference to when Paige and Chris did the same. Though that may have been coincidence.
Tidbits:
I really missed Jada this episode.
I used a new format this review. Please let me know what you think. I am hoping it makes it easier to read.
Please join me for the next episode. Please send plenty of asks and messages. Thank you!

Charmed Reboot Season 1 Episode 7
Rating: 4 out of 5
Plot: “Harry informs the sisters that Hilltowne is a portal to hell; Macy is given an exciting opportunity at work which comes with unexpected complications; Maggie has a conflict of conscience over her relationship with Parker.”
The plot flowed well but was at times predictable and repetitive. Some scenes were drawn out too long. The acting has gotten even better. No storyline felt overshadowed.
Positives: Maggie is starting to come into her own and discver what she's passionate about, which seems to be psychology. The sisters ate finally being honest with each other. The CGI has improved.
Negatives: Some plot points this episode came off quite offensive. First, we have an autoimmune disorder called a weakness and then we have one of our main characters specializing in genetic splicing, a process that is being used by ableist to attempt to eradicate and erase us autistic people. Considering they hired and defended an ableist cast member, Ser'Darius Blain, that is doubely offensive. This is throughly pissing me off. On a less serious note, the way they use music here can be quite distracting. There's a reason instrumental music is generally used for background music. It's because people don't want to hear singers overpowering the scenes and characters we're supposed to be paying attention to. This is most obvious in the Maggie/Parker scenes. If we're struggling to understand the characters then it's an issue.
References to the original (This section contains spoilers for the original series.): The Maggie/Parker relationship is obviously their take on Phoebe/Cole. I hated that pairing in the original series. If they are planning to make Maggie/Parker long term, I hope it written better and less abusive than their original series counter parts.
Theories/What I’d Like To See: I want Darkliighters to be introduced in this series. I thought that was what the electric demon was going to be. Darkliighters were one of my favorite magical beings in the original series so I hope the reboot utilizes them. We're going to be seeing Charity again next week. While Charity is an interesting character, isn't there other Elders we could be introduced to. The sisters think they found their Mother's killer. Something tells me that this might be another red herring since it's still early in the series.
Favorite Character This Episode: it's a tie between Mel and Harry. They were the most interesting and enjoyable this episode.
Favorite Quote/Interaction: Maggie to Mel: "Does this make me the smart one?"
Tidbits: Harry seems to show favoritism to Mel. I think because Mel reminds him of his previous charge, Fiona, he sees Mel and he tries to give extra care to Mel so she doesn't go through the same fate.  I'm afraid my Maggie/Lucy ship is never gonna sail. I didn't have much hope but I can dream.
Please join me again for next week's episode. In the meantime, please send me asks and/or messages. I would like to get more involved with the community.

@scousesal The CW loves employing offensive people. All that had been filmed at the time was the pilot. They could have easily refilmed his scenes. The CW, like many organizations, doesn't actually care about us autistic people. There wasn't enough people calling it out so The CW didn't get afraid for their profits. So in true CW fashion they came out in support of him because pandering to the ableists was a) what they wanted to do and b) didn't cost them a penny. They didn't see us autistic people as a valuable demographic so they made it clear they didn't care.
In this house we can’t stand Ableist Ser'Darius Blain
Tumblr media
Seriously. Fuck him.
