Lowkey I hate whenever Jason and Roy are written as friends at this point. Like any time they are in comics it destroys Roy’s character (and Jason’s for that matter) - aka the whole of RHATO, but not to mention it usually comes with totally devaluing the Fab 5′s friendship with each other and acting like the OG Titans would just... stop talking when they’re literally best friends and love each other so much. Like, I can barely find anything outside of older comics with them all together anymore :(, much less that has them in character and not with the post N52 versions of them.

if i had a nickel every time garth got really really mad about people choosing to be pacifists instead of actively fighting the danger/evil that exist around them, i'd have (at least) 2 nickels, and that's not a lot but it's interesting that it has happened twice

someone left a reply on the dick garth youngest age post and when i clicked on it, i couldn't see it on the post, so i assumed they blocked me but i could 100% see their blog when i went to it so then i assumed tumblr was just being Bad as usual, but Now the comment is gone from my notifications as well and i don't remember their username so i can't check if they have me blocked.

There's a movie about Robbie Williams coming out soon where he is portrayed by a man playing a monkey (yes, you did read that right). It seems like a fever dream and like it's not real until you look it up and learn it is very real. Kudos for trying something new and creative even if I will likely never see it because movies like it don't come to theaters near me and I almost always forget to stream movies once available.

The point is that now there is a debate about how Americans don't know who he is because I guess he never made it big in America. I do vaguely know who he is, mainly because he performed with Taylor Swift once and I've watched interviews of One Direction where they've talked about Take That and Robbie Williams. I'm not well-versed in his music or anything, I will admit.

I did just see an English person make the American comparison of Garth Brooks because somehow Americans are supposed to expect people to know who Garth Brooks is? I find this funny because: 1. I have to admit I am jealous of people who don't know who Garth Brooks is (he is beloved in certain country music circles but I have never liked the man besides a few of his songs), and 2. I am almost positive more people listen to Robbie Williams than Garth Brooks (pretty sure Brooks' music is only available on Amazon music to buy). One of my high-school best friends' moms loves Garth Brooks and has drug him to several concerts which I used to get an earful of complaints because he knew I liked country music so he was determined to tell me how much country sucked despite me not liking Garth Brooks.

Anyway, this basically was me wanting to dump on Garth Brooks for a second because I just thought it was funny that someone said Americans expected other countries to know Garth Brooks in comparison to Robbie Williams. I don't even really know who the American equivalent of Robbie Williams would be, but I highly doubt it's Garth Brooks.

People misinterpret the country music before and after 9/11 thing by saying country music became conservative after 9/11. There were plenty of conservatives in country music; what happened after 9/11 was that they were split off entirely from "liberal" country music in the same way that all pop culture would eventually be assigned Right or Left. In the 90s, Garth Brooks could drop a pro-gay rights & anti-racism song and be the only straight singer at a queer rights concert, and remain the most popular country singer in the world; now, he's persona non grata bc he kept serving Bud Light at a bar he owns. Conservatives who personally despise drug users could chortle over Willie Nelson jokes, bc stuff like that only enhances someone's rebel/outsider persona; now they despise anyone who steps out of the Trump line even slightly. Conservatives lost the ability to tolerate any ideological difference, and while most entertainment industries just stopped pitching to conservatives entirely, in this case capitalism started catering to that, hard
