lol I just saw a tweet with that asked which princess would win and they showed peach, Elsa, Fiona and rapunzel. Fucking rapunzel lol.

Like I already accepted that people think she’s a good character because they projected a their own personality traits and storylines on to her. But thinking she can fight? Especially against those three? lol Let’s be real now, rapunzel can’t fight to save her own life and needed to be saved by people through out the movie (I rewatched it and she never fought a battle or nothing close to that).

She couldn’t even beat a regular woman and needed to be saved from her by Flynn lol. How the fuck is she going to fight those 3? Fiona was shown to be well trained fighter, Elsa fought two armed guards on her own in her movie (rapunzel ran away when she was confronted with two guys and needed to be saved by a regular woman) and peach was shown to be a well trained fighter in the Mario. The fuck is rapunzel going to do?

If you’re going to put a Disney princess in there, at least pick one who could actually fight like raya, Mulan and such.

Bold New Moebius is one of my favourite arcs in Archie Sonic, despite me not actually liking its main villain. I guess that's the power of Flynn going "There's an evil version of Tails and he acts like Starscream" and my then-teenage brain going "Oh that's two of my favourite things mashed into one character, I will love him forever."

Yes this is a Miles Stan Account. I have imaginary AMVs in my head about him like you wouldn't believe.

But there's something that bothers me about it: The Suppression Squad's team composition.

In this arc, the Freedom Fighters consist of all six of the classic SatAM crew, plus Amy and Nicole, though Nicole doesn't really do a whole lot. This is the standard FF roster for most of Flynn's run in Archie, it's hard to go wrong with it.

The Suppression Squad, meanwhile, bring Scourge, Fiona, Miles, Alicia, Patch, and Boomer. They have six to the Freedom Fighters' eight.

They don't introduce an Evil Nicole, and while an antiverse version of Amy is introduced in the story, she's not a member of Suppression Squad, she's a random crazy person who wants to both kill and date Scourge and gets in the way a whole lot during the parts of the story that are set on Moebius.

Additionally, Buns is removed from the team as a whole, instead appearing as a morally-questionable ally of Kintobor, because she's sick and Scourge threw her out for being weak.

And I find this weird. Not to say that I dislike the idea of a member of Suppression Squad being basically forced to redeem themselves because they had an r/leopardsatemyface moment, because I don't, I love it. I just think it's weird for two reasons:

They don't need to "Make room" for Fiona on the Suppression Squad, because the FF also have additional members besides the originals. Buns can still be there without throwing the numbers off.

If they're going to remove one of the Suppression Squad's original roster from the board... why is it Buns that goes, and not Alicia?

Think about it: Besides Scourge himself, Alicia is the nominal leader of the team. She's the one that Scourge worked with when he originally plunged Moebius into chaos at the end of the Great Peace, by killing Anti-Jules and banishing Maxx to the Void. She's the one that kicked him out of the Squad with the aid of Jeff. Why the hell would he keep her around?

She's also pretty redundant as a Squad member in this arc, because Fiona is here.

I've said before that I think that Archie viewed Fiona more as a Sally Clone than as her own character, and this gets infinitely worse in Flynn's run, where most of her own (very undercooked) personality traits are largely abandoned in favour of having her shackled permanently to the evil version of Sally's boyfriend, and doing the same things that Sally does, but evilly.

And it's this arc where this becomes really obvious that Fiona is just Evil Sally now, because she's on a team with a character who literally used to be called Evil Sally. Alicia mostly stands around and does nothing because Fiona's the one beefing with her counterpart, right up until the point where the two sides team up, wherein Fiona is hurriedly ushered out of the plot and Alicia returns to her normal place as Sally's opposite number.

So... why not keep Buns and have Alicia be the one to get kicked out and forced to turn to Kintobor? She can still play the role that Alicia did in the final chapters of the arc by simply linking up with the two teams when they arrive on Moebius, after all.

Now, I can see the point being raised that it was Buns that got sick with NIDS. But that plot point is something they introduced in this arc. They can just have Alicia get sick instead. She was last seen before this arc falling into a pit full of poisonous robots, after all. Or they can just skip that aspect and have her get kicked out because Scourge is petty and vengeful and doesn't want her around.

This confusion doesn't ruin the story for me or anything, I still think it's a good one, but it does still somewhat baffle me.

have you ever read “Etherized Against the Sky”? it’s an ian/mickey fanfic on A03, and I’ve just started reading it, and I am absolutely more of a mickey fan than an ian fan, by a long shot, but I’ve always had a harder time getting a read on the s1 relationship. Because it’s in so few episodes, and so much stuff hasn’t happened, like post s1 the storyline picks up quickly, over the four years between the end of s1 and the end of s7, it’s just trauma after trauma, and I always enjoy your take on the characters so I was just wondering what your opinion on it was. If you read it, of course 💙

I too am way more of a Mickey stan than I am an Ian one lol. I love Ian (most of the time) but he isn't one of those characters that gets me deep in the personal feels enough for me to call myself an Ian stan. For Shameless that title belongs to Mickey and Fiona.

I have read Etherized Against the Sky and I like it a lot! It's a great Mickey fic and I love his journey in it, even if it's as you said, very painful at times. The last chapter put me through one of the worst emotional ringers I've ever experienced from a fic specifically lol. I'm desperately waiting for the next chapter 😭

I think Laura's character is interesting in it. Fucking awful, but interesting. I feel like most fics that feature Mickey's mother always has her as this angelic figure (which I get, since it stems from wanting Mickey to have had SOME kind of love growing up) so it's definitely different to see her portrayed as just as awful as a person as Terry is in her own ways. In general, I like the way the Milkoviches have all been fleshed out as characters in EATS, even though Iggy pissed me off in the last chapter.

Ian's character in the fic is...frustrating. He's definitely sympathetic given his trauma but damn, he made see red in the last chapter when he accused Mickey of being manipulative and that he was just like Laura. I'm really gonna need a good conversation between Mickey and Ian in the next chapter to heal that wound, especially now that he knows the truth.

As someone who also considers myself a Fiona stan, it does hurt my soul that the author made her so anti Mickey for most of the fic. But at least there's a genuine explanation behind her behavior vs other fics that just like to demonize her for the sake of making her some kind of antagonist against Gallavich.

All I'm all, I like the fic a lot and I can't wait to see the last three chapters. I'm ready to get to the healing portion of the story lol.

Little rants

Okay cool we saw how Myrtle was brought back but like the timeline doesn't make sense. It says, 2 years before the apocalypse but Cordelia's speech made it seem like she knew all this was gonna happen but she didn't. Cuz when we see Myrtle in the past the first time she was helping the Coven while Zoe was teaching girls how to change the color of the petals. While the warlocks were just meeting Michael and hoping and he'd the Alpha. That it's like, uhhhhhhh what.

Also where is Misty 😭😭😭😭 Family dinner and she wasn't present 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I mean it's probably based on Lily's availability but still so sad

“Essay” 1.0 Rhacks to Riches

So I decided this should be a good start as any. There’s quite obviously a very popular (Dare I say The most popular) ship in the Borderlands Fandom that I called Rhack. Comprising of Rhys from the Tales from the Borderlands Telltale series and Handsome Jack from... The Borderlands series! I personally just don’t see their potential relationship as lovers to be viable or healthy for either of them and am just writing about why i see it like that because I haven’t seen anyone else mentioning this. I am not against people shipping this but I feel that they might be missing some points about these two characters that make any relationship they’re going to engage in to be abusive.

Don’t read if you want to remain ignorant about these facts or ship Rhack so strongly that it offends you to see criticism of this ship. Also Spoilers for all BLands Games Btw.

Here we go! 

So I want to open this in saying that Rhys was written to be a very big parallel to Jack, both in personality and appearance. I’ll just list their parallels to save time and space.

They are both company men,both of Hyperion.

Known for being attractive and advantageous because of it. (Great Hair, heterochromia)

Same vaguely white race. (Not important to the relationship but adds to fandom popularity. Tea.)

Contain a mean streak when it comes to screwing over their superiors for money or power.

Both are self absorbed, prideful and arguably vain.

Both are hackers, something that is sometimes downplayed with Jack but was notably his own beginning in Hyperion.

Awful fashion sense. Ex. Rhys’s underwear tie and Jack’s thousand layer wardrobe. I refuse to diss Jack’s sneakers and Rhy’s socks but y’all can go off.

Same gray morality basis (Depends)

Both have a strength of being a charismatic negotiater (But not really)

Now with some of these parallels laid out, It would seem that these two would get along and possibly be romantically inclined towards each other but I mus stress another point. Rhys IS NOT A FULL PARALLEL TO HOLO/DEAD JACK. He is more close to being a representation of what Jack was when he was younger and had not yet made all the wonderful decisions that led to the events of the other Borderlands games.

The typical canon Rhys (By Telltale Popular choice Rhys) is a kinder, (Somehow) More down-To-Earth, less egotistical and friendlier person than Jack had almost ever been. He is a protagonist in Tales mainly because he is representative of what Jack could have been had he chosen a more “moral” path through life. Which is why the game ends with him receiving a vault treasure but ALSO inheriting Atlas from Jack, as a kind of teaser to the question of “Will Rhys rule like his hero had?”. Not to mention the entire last convo he had with the handsome devil.

The Differences

 Rhys sticks by his friends and trusts them in moments of doubt. As seen with Fiona in the Atlas lab, Loaderbot in prosperity junction, Sasha in the Atlas Atrium, and Vaughn with literally the whole story. Also you can include his trust in Jack right in here too.

Jack loses allies constantly by alienating or killing them. As seen with the poisoning of Wilhelm, a very loyal employee of his, his dismissal of Nakayama despite him being a brilliant scientist, the murder of Felicity (Justifiable,however) and whatever went on between him and Moxxi (Might delete later this is a tricky one that I think Moxxi was in the wrong on and can be claimed self-defense by Jack but like? Facts??? BLAHGGH) Not to mention the abuse of his own daughter that he was blind to simply due to sheer dumbassitude and self-serving ego on his part.

Rhys accepts the mistakes of his friends and can take apologies from them. As seen with his semi-betrayal from Vaughn

Jack literally kills a whole ass team of his own scientist that he saved in the first place simply because they *MIGHT* turn against him.

Rhy’s kinder and more sociable personality conflicts a lot with Jack’s harsher view of how he has to keep people away due to previous trust issues and how it is absolutely okay for him to use people to further his own agenda that serves only himself. Not to mention that Rhys does NOT vibe with Jack’s sadistic sense of humor and repeatedly calls him a psychopath for killing people in front of him.

This comes to a head obviously when Jack wants to put a metal skeleton inside of Rhys and Y’know, take over both his body and mind.

Which brings me to the most convincing part of this argument against Rhack.

JACK WOULD ABUSE THE HELL OUT OF RHYS AND HAS TRIED TO KILL HIM MULTIPLE TIMES.

Jack is a manipulative person, he admits to it himself when he begs Angel not the kill herself, She tells the Player Character that he is emotionally manipulative and warns you against it and Rhys recognizes that the most manipulative people in Hyperion, Including HUGO VASQUEZ, were inspired by Jacks tactics.

Keep in mind that one of Jack’s first actions towards Rhys was trying to strangle him for stumbling over his words, before he realized he was a holo-gram.

Then Realizing that he cannot simply kill Rhys with no repercussions as he would normally be able to, of course Jack turns to his next best option- Leading Rhys into situations where he could either 

1. Get out of his head (The office, Atlas Labs) Succesful btw

2. Kill him. (Indirectly, abandoning him with Vallory, where Rhys had a very high Probability of dying. Directly- Attempting to shove a robot skeleton into his body, killing Rhys and allowing him to control his body or Literally just trying to choke him out with his own hand, actually an act of desperate and rageful suicide as well.)

Most scenes where Jack is getting along with Rhys are that way because Jack is getting what he wants or he is trying to manipulate him into well... Getting what he wants. Otherwise Jack is sometimes downright rude, mean or verbally abusive to Rhys. I guess i should mention that Jack also talks to him for the sheer shits and giggles of it at times.

When Rhys actively rejects Jacks offer to rule together, is really where Jacks self-absorbed and hateful attitude towards Rhys comes out too. Just. He gets so fucking angry for almost no reason. Jack cannot give up the mantle of CEO to Rhys and reveals that all the stuff about training him to be a successor was all bullshit and it’s true purpose was to get Jack an immortal body.

So there you have it. I’ll come back and edit this but for now this my analysis of why I cannot stand seeing cutesy-feelsy fanart or otherwise of these two. Because they are downright incompatible and would be an abusive relationship if they ever were together. Feel free to complain and continue shipping whatever you want however! I needed to get this out.

Also as an after-note and side commentary: I sound anti-Jack but I really stan him, he’s just an asshole. Rhys is a good guy but i don’t even like him that much, my fav’s Fiona, lol. My one true love from Borderlands as a whole is Nisha tho. R.i.p. I miss you, you funky little cowgirl.

Either way, that doesn’t make Fiona punching him okay. And yes Jimmy is a shady person, but that doesn’t mean Fiona punching him okay and definitely doesn’t change the fact that she’s not morally superior to him.

Like if the roles were reversed and Fiona was Jimmy and Jimmy was Fiona, would that mean punching her in the face is okay? That because she lied that she deserves it?

If the roles were reversed and Fiona was the one kidnapped and couldn’t contact Jimmy and her first greeting was him punching her in the fact and then say he should’ve brought a knife, people would be calling is physical abuse. But apparently guys can’t be abused and Fiona is a #girlboss.
