life tip: never get enough heartburn that you can genuinely rank antacid brands. that being said 1. compliments peppermint 2. equate peppermint (honestly they're just about as good as the compliments ones im just ranking comps higher bc of recency bias) 3. the little peppermint rolaids in the microtubes by the cash register 4. tums peppermint they have a weird wheaty yeasty aftertaste 5. any generic store brand fruit antacid (best to worst orange, yellow, pink, green) 6. fruit tums 7. probably pepto bismol i havent tried it though and finally in last place: the zantac that got recalled

Adding to this bc I ONCE LANDED MYSELF IN THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE OF IBUPROFEN.

I had a bad cricket in my neck for nearly a month and I was taking it way too frequently. Ended up giving myself a stomach ulcer that sent me to the ER from severe pain.

THAT ACTUALLY ENDED UP BEING LUCKY. See, because the ibuprofen was causing me to have acid reflux, I was also taking a shit-ton of Tums.

STOP.

STOP THAT TOO.

One single Ultra Strength Tums tablet has 1000MG OF PURE CALCIUM. The recommended daily intake for calcium is 1000mg. I was taking easily 10+ tablets per day.

THIS CAUSED THE CALCIUM TO CRYSTALIZE IN MY KIDNEYS AND PUT ME INTO KIDNEY FAILURE. I had to stay in the hospital for a WEEK on IV fluids to flush my system, and I was lucky they caught it when they did so I didn't have to go on dialysis.

READ THE LABELS. ABIDE BY THE DOSAGE DIRECTIONS. DO NOT EVER EVER EVER TAKE MORE THAN RECOMMENDED WITHOUT CONSULTING A DOCTOR.

PLEASE DON'T FUCK AROUND WITH OTC MEDS, I ALREADY FOUND OUT FOR YOU.

Take that after a meal. Take it with a big glass of water. Don't take it on an empty stomach EVER. Don't take it with alcohol. You will destroy your stomach. You will end up with an ulcer. You will vomit blood. I'm not exaggerating.
