a small interesting thing: yesterday, while taking a sunday walk through the neighbouring mountains, I've stumbled upon a shrine - a standard sight in carpathian forests, of course - but this one was very new. freshly erected, clean, stunning - with a little sign explaining why it was erected.
and as so many such shrines, the reason was one of the most classic reasons for them to be created:
to commemorate the town's survival. from plague.
the great plague of anno domini 2020, no less.

hi! I saw your post about the why episode title change why 11 scenes cut why lamp etc etc and I know some of it but not all, and I was hoping you could elaborate on spngate— if it’s not too much trouble— or point me in a direction where I can join you in the spn gate?
I feel ashamed for HOW LONG i let this ask just rot in my askbox (it's from january, apparently, now it's april. i thought maybe two weeks passed but NO. it was months. ANON I AM SO SO SO SO SORRY. I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART) but now with the power of this url and the wine i am currently sipping, let me give you the best, most thought-out answer that i possibly can.
I don't know how long you've been following/watching spn, so I won't get into real deep iceberg theories that go back to season 8 and jeremy carver, for the purpose of this essay answer I'll just stick to the year anno domini 2020, and will try to do my best to tell you what happened.
Okay, maybe 2019. So, in june 2019, when the first scripts and drafts for s15 are presented, these things happen: 1. apparently, according to Berens, the confession scene is the first thing that was written for season 15. 2. Jensen Ackles is sat down and asked if he would be okay with this. (question is asked: why would they ask jensen if all he does in this scene is look at cas, he doesn't say anything, he does not confess, it changes nothing about his character, etc.; if you put the real tjlc tinfoil hat on you'd ask hey , maybe they asked him if precisely that is okay, if he is okay with the fact dean is practically silenced here but that's Deep) 3. Jensen apparently is okay with that, because it happens.
also this thing happens around the same time: 1. they write the ending for the brothers, and no matter what version of the finale we're talking about, Dean dies 2. Jensen Ackles is Not Okay with this. he calls Kripke who then, in a call and/or email assures him it's a good ending (Jensen says that) and also very quickly after that Jensen is announced to play Soldier Boy in Kripke's The Boys. make of that what you want
They film, blah blah, march 2020, covid happens, they stop production right after they film the confession. Last episode to air is 15x13, last episode they film is 15x18, they almost have a plane crush when flying to vegas con, and then, a loooong break until august 2020. Now, from what we know, there were two versions of the finale - the pre-covid finale they were supposed to film if the filming schedule wasn't interrupted, and the finale that happened.
What was supposed to be in the Original Finale/Pre-Covid Finale, we still don't know exactly, but from what the cast said, there was supposed to be a big cast reunion, Harvelle's Roadhouse in Heaven, Kansas Band (why are they dead?) playing there after Dean gets there and so on.
Anyway. July 2020. Misha does a livestream with Michael Sheen (the SuperGood campaign) where he says he is going back to filming the last two episodes in a few weeks. he said it LIVE. it's on youtube. people analyze the background from Misha's livestreams and photos and conclude he is in Vacouver, where spn is filmed. He also says that he is going back filming in a few interviews. Also here.
August 2020. They go back to filming in august 2020 to film 15x19 and 15x20.
August 20th, 2020, Misha's birthday.
Tumblr media
I wasn't on set TODAY. so casual. of all days i wasn't there today.
August 24th, 2020, day 6/8 of filming 15x19, Angel with a Shotgun is hash tag Song of The Day while filming scenes of 15x19 (scene 28, 31).
September 4th, 2020. ALL THEY FILM, for the whole DAY, is one scene. They usually film a few. They film one. Song of the day? The Night We Met.
Somewhere before the episodes starts to air again, Dabb says only 30% of the audience will like the finale. Anyway, everyone concludes, Misha is filming, destiel is more or less going canon, but everyone including bibros is sure Misha is filming and will be there for the finale.
Originally, "Despair" was called "The Truth".
Finale airs.
It feels shorter (apparently it's not) but it does have an additional ad break. For Walker. But it feels shorter because of the "carry on my wayward son" cover montage that lasts too long and later it's discovered thanks to scripts that dropped that there are ELEVEN scenes that were filmed,, but didn't make it to the episode. The script that drops is also very telling, where scenes are just [OMMITTED]. It was explained that they wanted to have actor there but they didn't want actors to quarantine for two weeks to film one or two scenes BUT then that's exactly what they did with Jim Beaver lmao.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah. I also remember Misha at a con (DarkLight?) where, after asked about the original ending, he answers that the original ending was something that would be better explored in fanfiction anyway. Theory rises he filmed and was cut off the episode without his or Jensen's knowledge because Misha sat down his kids to watch the spn finale (which was the first episode they were supposed to watch ever, why would he do that if he's not there?) and then, CW SPN twitter posts a goodbye video that has everyone from the cast and their mother BUT MISHA AND JENSEN ARE NOT THERE. Jensens sexy silence starts.
THEN THE WILDEST THING HAPPENS.
November 25th, the Spanish Dub. 15x18 drops in Brazil and Dean says "and i you" to Cas, after he confesses. No "don't do this cas" but "and i you". Tumblr stops working for two hours, people on discords are screaming, no one knows whats happening, someone claims Jensen was called in September 2020 to record some adlibs? To record the muffled sobs Dean does while on the floor. Theory is supported by the fact that in the Bazil version? When Dean sits on the floor? The sound that plays are birds. Chirping birds. Sounds don't match, what was Dean saying while crying on the floor, question arises.
Everyone decides there was a Rogue Translator who managed to hide from The CW Sniper (who is the reason actors just dont tell us everything) and translated some kind of Original Script. Voice Actors are invited to a podcast where they debunk this saying that it was added because the translator felt this was the right response or something like that. Anyway they debunk the fact that there existed, at any time, a version of a script, that maybe was send to them, where Dean says I love you too. This was a wild night, no one slept.
And like. I could make this post longer, but I am planning to, one day, make a huge masterpost with real sources about that because honestly you could write a book about it.
But tl;dr spngate is a theory that misha did film for the last 2 episodes and the changes they made were truly last minute (september 2020), they were going for a canon destiel, possibly human!cas engame, dabb was always on our side, and it's based on stuff like jensen actively hating the ending to the point he made his prequel after 2 years of radio silence, 11 scenes just cut from the finale, misha saying he is going back filming, and people like mark pellegrino saying the last scene he filmed was with alex and misha. also the onion field. why lamp is the theory that cas is represented and symbolized by lamps throughout the show and when dean dances with a Lamp in a drug induced dream instead of, say, some kind of a lady he is actually thinking about cas.
also there are little things like when jensen at an online con before the finale says that oh yes i am wearing a grey flannel but tomorrow? who know it could be blue and green. and we all collectively lost our shit. like when he said he is most excited to "tackle" with cas in season 15. or that "dean has no taste, clearly". WHY WAS YOUR PERMISSION NEEDED JENSEN
there are a lot of things i didn't mention here because i simply can't unflod this whole thing just like that but
Tumblr media
but if you understand this picture you might be entitled to financial compensation

It’s been read into the record that the US Army committed egregious civilian massacres in Vietnam, killed an estimated 100-500 thousand civilians in total in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, caused thousands more poisonings, birth defects, and related deaths in the Agent Orange ecocide. Vietnam is considered by most residents of developed countries to be an unfortunate policy bungle in which US soldiers suffered trauma.
This is not counting massacres by allied forces. It is unsealed public knowledge that the United States either installed or propped up military dictatorships in a majority of Latin American countries and Indonesia, which engaged in political killings. The United States backed the governments which carried out the genocide of the Maya. US interventions in Latin America are considered by most residents of developed countries to consist of a heroic opposition to Cuban dictatorship, where they are considered at all. Indonesia does not exist.
The word ‘genocide’ was coined to describe the Armenian genocide. Descendants of Armenian survivors have risen to prominence in US pop culture (Cher, System of a Down). Armenians have suffered crimes, military aggression, and civilian killings by Azerbaijani and allied forces multiple times within the past five years. The US government recognized the Armenian genocide for the first time in 2019. The United Nations organized COP29 in Baku with no formal dissent or objection from developed countries, and I’ve seen accounts on here with my own eyes praising the current Turkish government (more of a case of ‘you do not under any circumstances have to hand it to a far-right nationalist regime because they’re geopolitically opposed to Israel’s far-right nationalist regime’). Most residents of developed countries couldn’t point to the Caucasus on a map.
These atrocities and many, many more are cases of factual unarguable history that have been acknowledged by hegemonic governments. There is no public or intellectual debate on the fact of the Armenian genocide, American installation of Pinochet, the My Lai massacre. It’s gone down in history.
It’s also true that the average resident, even the average sensible political moderate in the suite of developed countries has an understanding of the world that denies or excludes these facts. Tumblr fandom blogs will share a video of Erdogan if he’s saying something politically convenient, a mildly left-wing guy will disbelieve me when I mention the Pinochet thing until I make him look it up on friggin Wikipedia, there are 2 Vietnam War films focusing on heroic American characters released in or after Anno Domini 2020. One of which is by a solidly progressive director.
I’ve seen the sentiment frequently that history will show the Israeli genocide as the most vicious, cruel, inhuman assault on humanity since the turn of the millennium. That is true. It will show as fact, records will be unsealed, media distortions will die down. Already, internal Israeli news sources Haaretz and +972 have disproven many of the claims used by the US government as an excuse to dismember children on the basis of ethnicity.
At the same time, I think that there’s a lot of evidence that factual atrocities will be ignored by the liberal hegemony as long as they’re inconvenient. The Shoah is remembered as a tragedy in part because it fits into a narrative that portrays the US as a morally just world power. Universally acknowledged genocides mass killings have little to no impact on the memories or politics of ‘normal people’ in developed countries. Most people don’t know that the UAE is currently playing a key role in the decimation of Sudan’s population and most people, if they ever did find out, would not see any reason for the US to use its economic leverage to have any impact on the UAE at all.
The record does and will show that Israel is guilty of genocide. It will go away sooner or later because of the efforts of Palestinians and allies to free Palestine from occupation, apartheid, and genocide. I don’t think that anyone who cheered on genocide will be aware of any of this, reflect on any of it, or do anything at all make up for the people they’ve killed. Vindication by history might not change them at all. Which is why it makes sense to keep bringing up the Palestinian genocide in all contexts whether ‘appropriate’ or not, because all historical evidence shows that it will be swept under the rug, forgotten, or misremembered if it doesn’t remain a conversational landmine forever

Today, I looked through my food collection on TikTok for dinner ideas and I came across a video from late March of 2020 of a guy in a pretty typical at-home kitchen, and I had to stop and smile because March of 2020 was when I started getting into food TikTok because that was the only thing keeping me sane. I would wake up, pull my computer into my lap, do my classes, and go to sleep, leaving my bed only to use the restroom and maybe to eat.
(This will be a titch long so I’m putting in a break)
March of 2020, my uni was about to put on a play that I had a significant role in, and it was the first time I had felt good about a role. I certainly felt more suited to the wild, chaotic tendencies of Caliban than I did the motherly instincts of Golde or the Fairy Godmother. It was also the first time we were ever going to actually enhance one of my features, rather than hide me away behind a large, snug dress that served only to suffocate me and make it night on impossible to sing; needless to say, I was beyond excited.
Fast forward two weeks. I was back in my childhood bedroom, my brain as cluttered as the floor, my thoughts as loud as the fan on my computer. We were still running weekly rehearsals for a play that I think we all knew we would never put on, but we were holding on so tightly to this dream. Yet, week to week, none of us improved. I don’t think we actually spent time with the script outside of those rehearsals, where we were supposed to be off book but it’s ever so easy to cheat when you’re on a computer.
I scrolled endlessly through TikTok. I ended up on anime TikTok, hairstyling TikTok, and chemistry TikTok, just to name a few, all while mountains of homework grew and I became more and more apathetic towards pretty much everything.
But the reigning champion was food TikTok. Because some of these were people like me - young adults who had gone back to their parents’ homes, too young to be able to do it on their own but too old not to understand what was going on. And still they created, they did what they loved. They had ingredients in their kitchen, and they made something out of it. That truly felt to me like making the most of a less than ideal situation, and I felt as though I could learn something from it. This honestly played a not insignificant role in pulling me through the summer and into the beginning of the next semester.
I just stumbled across this same video in anno domini 2024, March, almost four years to the date after it was created. He ends his videos with the phrase “this cooking shit is easy,” which I found that I had adopted into my vernacular (case in point: I said it literally just last week) and can now place a source - from four years ago, when I binged all of his videos in a desperate bid to feel something.
Out of curiosity, I clicked on his profile. He has an apartment with a skyline view, in a city that I can only imagine. And the both of us have come so far in four years, letting go of the things to which we could not feasibly hold while stepping into new experiences and new situations.
What, you may be thinking, is the meaning of all this? Was there a point? In short, not particularly. There are a couple of different conclusions to draw here: first, superficially, it could reasonably be concluded that social media is not the great evil that republicans and democrats alike seem to think it is; second, it is my belief that it’s possible to watch yourself grow without actually seeing yourself grow - in much the same way that you can’t see the forest for the trees; finally, how will you know if you never try?

95th Academy Awards nominations reaction
I got up early this morning, typed some of these just after the nominations came out, and left it sitting in the drafts. Some personal reactions from me about today’s nominees:
Of the ten Best Picture nominees, I have seen five of them. This is the furthest ahead I’ve been at this point in awards season since 2019 (Avatar 2, Banshees, Elvis, EEAAO, Fabelmans). I do have my work cut out for me here. As of right now, I’m pretty much on the EEAAO train, but perhaps not as energetically as I’ve been for other movies in previous years. Partly due to the fact I can understand why people might dislike EEAAO intensely and partly because there are no 9/10 or 10/10 movies for me from 2022. At least from those I’ve seen. Fabelmans my second choice from those I’ve seen.
And now I have to watch two Top Gun movies. I’ve been avoiding the first for a long, long time having heard way too much about it and people saying it’s just not gonna be my thing. We’ll see over the next month.
Whoa. Where did Triangle of Sadness come from with both Picture and Director? That movie was divisive in some parts, and I’ve heard that it felt like an overlong lecture. The directors’ branch gonna directors’ branch, though - they always nominate one director out of left field. And this year, Ruben Östlund was that man.
Say it with me: in the Year of Our Lord, Anno Domini MMXXIII, we take Steven Spielberg and John Williams for granted. I think Spielberg has a shot at Director (and, as of this moment if I was a member of the Academy, I might just vote for him) and John gets his record-extending 53rd nomination (behind Walt Disney’s 59, and most by a living person). John’s count of five total Oscars (having last won 30 years ago) is too low. But the Academy members, I think, I have Oscar winners’ envy. John also becomes the oldest Academy Award nominee ever.
In any case, the other Original Score nominees this year are amelodic electronic background noise. Where is Simon Franglen for Avatar? Alexandre Desplat for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio?
All Quiet overperformed here, compared to what I expected. I know its haul of 14 BAFTA nominations was ridiculous, but I chalked that up to WWI being more prominent than in the U.S. - where most people don’t think about it much at all. I’ve not seen it, but I must say I have a lot of admiration for the 1930 original that won Best Picture. That All Quiet was the first sound masterpiece at a time when the silent-to-sound transition was still going on. I’m not sure how this one will stack up, having heard about some of the narrative changes they made to it.
Despite what has been widely reported, Michelle Yeoh becomes the second Best Actress nominee of Asian descent since Merle Oberon for The Dark Angel (1935). Oberon had to hide her Indian and Maori heritage due to safety reasons and we didn’t learn about this until after her death.
Also overjoyed to see Nighy, Michelle Williams, Ke Huy Quan, Hong Chau, and Stephanie Hsu all in the mix for acting. Best Actor features five first-time nominees for the first time in 88 years. Also, that’s four actors of Asian descent getting nominations! That’s a record!
Cartoon Saloon finally has the first blemish on their Academy Award nominations record. They were previously nominated for all of their movies - The Secret of Kells (2009), Song of the Sea (2014), The Breadwinner (2017), and Wolfwalkers (2020; which should have beaten Soul). My Father’s Dragon (2022) definitely was their weakest movie yet and, yeah, that didn’t deserve to be here. Hoping to see a return to form for the Kilkenny-based studio. You’ve got to think GdT’s Pinocchio now. No contest. I need to check out The Sea Beast, though.
What happened to RRR? Original Song only? Not a movie I’ve seen because I insist on watching it in the original Telugu, but my sense was that there was a divide in how it was received. In the West, with critics and audiences having very little idea about the nature of Indian cinema and its history, it was something different and refreshing and was well-received. In India, its use of Hindu iconography struck a chord of Modi-esque Hindu nationalism that has muted critical plaudits there. It’s an interesting dynamic, one that I doubt Westerners picked up at all.
I am so excited to see the short films, as always (and I write up on them too, you can see last year’s edition for Animated Short here). Those last two Animated Short nominees though? My Year of Dicks (not people named Richard, afaik) and An Ostrich Told Me the World Is Fake and I Think I Believe It? What titles. Can’t wait! As I understand it, no major American studios were in play for Animated Short at the shortlist stage. So this should be a fun, independent filmmaker-driven slate.
The Batman should have found its way into cinematography.
Never count Diane Warren out for Original Song, no matter how obscure the movie! She’ll, of course, lose - as she unfortunately always does. 14 nominations for Warren. Glad she picked up the Honorary Oscar last year, though.
Lots of clamor about the decision to leave Decision to Leave out in International Feature. But the International Feature branch usually does very funny things, and I don’t think there has been a consensus at all in this category. All Quiet the odds-on favorite due to its significant haul of nominations, however.
Well, this should be a fun month! On this blog, “31 Days of Oscar” - my marathon based on Turner Classic Movies’ (TCM) marathon of the same name featuring only Oscar nominees and Honorary Oscar winners through the 95 years of Oscar history - is coming on March 1st!

FLASH REPORT: American Variety and Veteran YouTuber 'IShowSpeed' reportedly rates Uncle Roger's EFR dish in a newly-opened restaurant in Malaysia during his South East Asia tour
Tumblr media
(Written by Anne Savisa Boonchuy / Asia Stringer News Correspondent of Disney XD News and Herpetologist of AotP)
KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA -- An Ohio-native veteran and variety YouTuber 'Mr. Darren Jason Watkins Jr.', also known as 'IShowSpeed', knowingly for his dynamic and engaging content on his video-sharing platform (owned by Google's Alphabet) has made the newly-opened Chinese-Malaysian stand-up born comedian in the person of 'Mr. Nigel Ng', famously known as 'Uncle Roger', fall into surprise when he gave a visit to Mr. Roger's fried rice restaurant. This occurred at the 7th Floor of Pavilion KL, one of the major shopping malls near Bukit Bintang in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia last Tuesday night (September 17th, 2024 -- Malaysia local time).
'IShowSpeed', who has embarked on a South East Asia tour, went into the restaurant so quickly that is caused temporary lockdown of the restaurant. This was the safety measure, although quite stringent, to handle the sea of teeming multitudes that had assembled just to get a view of this YouTube sensation from America. However, a woman met him in person, and was under overcrowding stress in human health. Such as that, she might be fainted in public, in front of over 300,000 LIVE viewers on YouTube, as she was not receiving adequate oxygen flow to the brain on partial loss of consciousness. Even during the lockdown, the restaurant in the mall was still open to its regular diner point.
For those who may not have heard of it from either side, Egg Fried Rice (EFR) is a staple that was first found in China, during the Sui Dynasty, in the year 589 to 618 Anno Domini (AD) or 'Year of the Lord'. It is prepared by frying cooked rice with eggs, vegetables and sometime with meat or seafood. Very easy, simple and flexible, leftover rice can be easily made into a delicious meal. The trick to the ideal fried egg rice lies in the leftover rice which has dried overnight. It's not likely to clump up when cooked in the frying with eggs and vegetables.
Similar to EFR, Mi Goreng is an Indo-Malaysian fried noodle dish. While the two dishes need stir-frying, the only difference between the two is that Mi Goreng uses noodles instead of rice and often comprises a combination of vegetables, eggs, and proteins in it, such as chicken, shrimp or tofu. Such flavors in Mi Goreng are accompanied by sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), sambal (chili paste) and other seasonings that give the dish a sweet and savory flavor with a slightly spicy taste. In contrast, EFR has a more subtle flavor profile often seasoned with soy sauce, oyster sauce and aromatics like garlic & onions.
And lastly… Nigel Ng, famously known as Uncle Roger is a 33 y/o Chinese-Malaysian stand-up comedian and YouTube personality. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Mr. Roger moved to the United States of America (U.S.A.) for a college education at Northwestern University (NU) in Illinois state, where he had previously graduated in engineering. After graduation, he worked as a data scientist before venturing into comedy.
He plays his comedic persona 'Uncle Roger', while parlaying criticism over cooking videos, particularly those on Asian food. He went viral when comments regarding cooking techniques were pure sarcasm, but there is one funny video that stands out -- the one wherein he criticized how the 'BBC Food' wrongfully prepared egg fried rice in July 2020. Through this character, many people around the world found interest in his content which he posts on a successful YouTube channel wherein he collaborates with various chefs and food personalities such as the 'Lumpia Queen' who goes by the name 'Ms. Abigail Marquez' in our country.
Besides that, Mr. Roger recently entered into the world of culinary delicacies with his own restaurant, serving fried rice here in Malaysia last Wednesday (September 11, 2024). Today, he travels from India and granted his virtual nod to allow 'IShowSpeed' from the Ohio state to have dinner in from a video call from their manager's smartphone, despite its craziness of the overwhelming crowd for those people who would not be dining. It adds a lot of drama that evening.
The highlight of the night was IShowSpeed's tasting of Uncle Roger's signature 'Egg Fried Rice'. The male YouTuber idol reportedly rated the dish a remarkable 9 out of 10, praising it as an excellent choice for either breakfast, dinner, or both.
This unexpected encounter between two internet sensations has not only delighted fans but also highlighted the global appeal of Asian cuisine. IShowSpeed's enthusiastic rating of Uncle Roger's EFR demonstrates the dish's universal appeal and the success of Nigel Ng's venture into the restaurant business.
As IShowSpeed continues his tour in South East Asia, this indeed is a memorable stop in Kuala Lumpur, as he has been speaking to the great power of food to bring people together across cultures and continents. No. Anno Domini MMXX didn't come out three years ago. I just simply don't accept it. It's not true. I don't fucking care that it has 2020 in it's name, I don't believe it anyway.

I grandi marchi: Postalmarket
Tumblr media
Read the full article

Sono calati senibilmente poi anche ilsussidiario.net, iltempo.it, blitzquotidiano.it e pinterest.it. La classifica invece dei dieci siti crollati in senso assoluto, quindi non solo in percentuale, vede al primo posto reverso.net, ancora mtv.it e pinterest.com. Poi ancora ilfattoquotidiano.it, huffingtonpost.it e comingsoon.it. Ma la vera sorpresa è all’undicesimo posto fanpage.it che negli ultimi due anni era notevolmente cresciuta nel campo dell’informazione “rubando” lettori alle storiche testate “La Repubblica” e “Il Corriere della Sera”. Japan’s 3rd COVID-19 wave
First it was 密ですmitsu desu, avoid the three "dense" things: closed spaces, crowded places and close contact with people.
Now, with Japan boasting record numbers* of COVID-19 cases, Tokyo Governor Koike has announced the "5つの小  itsutsu no ko, 5 small things" for dining out (bars, izakaya and restaurants are potential hot spots for infection):
小人数 koninzu, small groups 小一時間 koichijikan, small i.e. short time of 1 hour or less 小声 kogoe, small voice, whisper, don't speak loudly 小皿 kozara, small plates, don't share food 小まめ komame, pay attention to small details (masks, wash hands, ventilation) + こころづかい kokoro dzukai, be considerate (of medical staff who will have to save your life)
Will the five small things help? Hmm. Let's see.
Tumblr media
* Please don’t tell me Japan’s figures are much lower than [insert country of choice]. Yes, I know. I’m comparing mikan with mikan.
