to me one of the funniest things in asip is definitely when sherlock brought the man previously from his flat to the crime scene without even introducing him except for emphasizing "he's with me" and gavin lestrade was trying to decide whether a) if sherlock has really gone round the bend and decided to take a hostage to keep as a pet and he should save this man from sherlock or b) if this man is even more of a dangerous sociopathic nutter than sherlock and he should lock him up and save london from this man

The dialogue between the policeman and Lestrade at the end of TFP about Sherlock Holmes going from a great man to a good one comes from ASiP and we know Sherlock wasn't present when the dialogue happened. It was between Lestrade and John only.

Same goes for Mike Stamford's line "yeah, he's always been like that" in ASiP, he only tells it to John when Sherlock wasn't there.

Both are referenced in Sherlock's MP episodes (if you consider TFP as EMP/coma fever dream). I would've had my doubts about TFP being Sherlock EMP because of the "great man" reference but we know they did it before with TAB.

Using John's interaction with someone in Sherlock's absence (both from ASiP) within Sherlock's MP tells us something? Or is it a deliberate choice the audience is supposed to just go along with?
