VAD? En semester i ett hemsökt hus avslöjar inte bara ett mysterium att lösa, utan även en 200årig kärlekshistoria som behöver få sig ett slut. Paul Serafini regisserar efter manus från Kieran McGowan och Stefne Miller.

VEM? Bailee Madison är det som spelar den aspirerande författaren Annabelle som dras in i mysteriet efter att ha hittat en anteckningsbok i sommarhuset. Hon får snart sällskap av Maddi och Jake McFeeley som också semestrar på ön samt den mystiske Billy vet mycket om historierna kring mysteriet. Och vad vore ett härligt mysterium utan skurkar? Argyle och Tweed påminner mer om Dupontarna än skurkar men söker lösningen på gåtan med, de är övertygade om att det finns en stor skatt begraven i slutet på gåtan.

VAR? Tro't eller ej, men inspelad i Nantucket. Något i filmens inledning fick mig att associera med Hajen, som visserligen är inspelad i Massachusetts med (dock Martha's Vineyard och inte Nantucket). Vi får iaf en sådan där härligt amerikansk småstad utmed kusten.

HUR? Det här är en kompetent berättad historia, med en, för genren, genomtänkt story. Man undviker dessutom att falla ned i "den trasiga familjen"-fällan utan det handlar helt enkelt om en familjesemester utan känslomässigt bagage som skall dumpas mot sluttexterna. Visst finns det små skavanker här och där att hänga upp sig på om man vill -- slutresultatet är dock så pass bra att jag väljer att inte göra det. På något vis påminner det här lite om familjefilm från förr.

SÅ? Det faktum att det inte är några större namn inblandade (Serafini långfilmsdebuterar rentutav tillsammans med sina manusvapendragare) gör att man omedvetet kanske skruvar ned förväntningarna en aning. Det här är dock ett underhållande sommaräventyr med helt okej special effekter som antagligen passar hela familjen.

NÄR? Man teasar om det redan i eftertexterna, och IMDb bekräftar att Annabelle Hooper 2 befinner sig någonstans i planeringsstadiet. Kul, man öppnar ju för ett mer övergripande mysterium med diskussionen om intendenten.

Annabelle Hooper and the ghost of Nantucket is a mystery movie aimed at a younger audiance, but I (20 years old) still enjoyed it. The movie is about a young aspiring writer who goes to this island Nantucket for her vacation with her parents. Here she discovers a mystery and with her new friends she tries to unravel it. The young Bailee Madison is always great, but the other less known actors did a great job aswell. They really knew how to portray their characters 'type' without making it seem unrealistic. If you enjoy mysteries and detectives this is a good watch!

movies i watched as a kid that kinda felt unreal and were definitely wack:

the secret of moonacre- this one was so good and i had a crush on the guy who played robin

jack and the cuckoo clock heart- FUCK it hurts just thinking about this one but it still slapped

strange magic- i hated this movie with everything in me because the first time i watched it i was half asleep at midnight and it was so weird

monster house- horrifying

great expectations- i watched this movie when i was in sixth grade and i barely understood any of it. would not watch again

Binge-able Shows for Spooky Season

All these shows but one (as of today, Oct. 13th 2018) are available on Netflix. These are just some of the shows I really enjoy binge watching during the spooky season, which for me is September 1st through November 30th lol.

Good Witch : A family friendly show about a small town and the magic that surrounds it. There’s also a ton of movies too but these aren’t currently available on Netflix. The show (and movies) is very wholesome and cute.

Goosebumps : Yes, Netflix currently as all the Goosebumps episodes and if you’re a “90′s kid” or just want to live out your 90′s wannabe fantasy then this show is a must in October. If you really want to get an authentic 90′s experiences watch it on a Saturday morning while eating French Toast Crunch. Totally family friendly-ish lol.

Are You Afraid of the Dark? : This one isn’t on Netflix but there are some episodes posted on Youtube. This show is much like Goosebumps (but much better in my opinion lol). FYI no matter how old you are the opening is always gonna be hella creepy lol.

Scream : Murder mystery + teenage angst. What more could you want from a TV show? This show is much more gory and isn’t suitable for kids.

Charmed : Witches again? Yes! Charmed is just a great show to watch anytime but it’s supernatural elements and nostalgic... charm ;) make it one of my favorite spooky season shows.

Supernatural : Again, the theme of supernatural creatures just fit so well with the season. Great “Halloween-ish” episodes include “Monster Movie” and “It’s the great pumpkin, Sam Winchester” Earlier season’s had a more “monster of the week” approach and are some of the best episodes. My personal favorite episode is Season 1 episode 11 “Scarecrow”

Creeped Out : This is a new Netflix anthology series, much like Goosebumps and Are You Afraid of the Dark? It’s rated TV-Y7 so probably not a suitable show for super young kids.

American Horror Story : Particularly season 1, 3 and 6. This show is an adult horror style show and therefore I do not recommend watching this if you’re sensitive to imaginary of sexual assault, racial violence or graphic gore.

Some other shows that I also think are great binge-able spooky season shows but that I don’t have much to say about.

So there's a movie similar to this with a male lead character, and its like "someone something and the mysterious box" or something like that and the title box and font look the same and I think the name started with a J possibly? He's got a little brother and he's gotta find this amulet or something and he starts the movie going to work at this enormous hotel and theres this stuffy lady that watches over him????? I cannot remember the name of the movie to save my life. It was on netflix for a while and now it's not.
