Cytat 1.

GET TO KNOW THE MUN.
what’s your phone wallpaper : so my lockscreen has been the same quote from Critical Role for going on 5 years now because I am a creature of habit lol but my normal wallpaper is definitely Alhaitham haha particularly this picture
last song you listened to : let's level I'm pretty sure it was the new opening song from the 2023 Revival Cast Album of Sweeney Todd because Josh Groban? In my Sondheim? More likely than you think-!
currently reading : do insurance contracts count. . .? I read that a lot. I'm not as big into books as I used to be but I read some fanfic lol
last movie : it's called 'Alice, Darling' and Anna Kendrick is in it. It's a really great movie, but it has some super triggering material for certain people so caution is advised!
last show : Lyn had me like, 6 seasons into Game of Thrones and we haven't gone back for it :| I need to know how Brienne is doing.
what are you wearing right now : tank top and shorts 'cause it's delightfully warm here today! :)
piercings / tattoos? : my ears are pierced, and I have one tattoo on my left like, shoulder-ish? nearer the clavicle. It's the little gremlin music notes from Persona 5 haha
glasses ? contacts? : I am legally blind lolol I wear really intense contacts constantly
last thing you ate? : I'm ngl, it was definitely a donut hole lol
favorite color(s) : crimson, orchid, and black are my go to's
current obsession : genshin, fire emblem 3 houses, and as usual really any musical. Violet Hour is always on repeat in the back of my mind.
do you have a crush right now? : I sure hope @kshahrewarslight has a crush on me-
favourite fictional character : this is an unfair question lololol ummm! if I had to pick one from Genshin, it's not actually Alhaitham, funnily enough haha. I relate to him and enjoy him immensely, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be Wanderer or Nahida without a doubt. From Fire Emblem, it's easily Claude von Reigen, no doubt at all. Those are sort of my focus right now, so I'll just leave it at them. :)

Quote #1- “Just because he can’t love you the way you want him too, doesn't mean he doesn't love you with everything he has” - Landon
Fall in love all over again in volume one of the graphic novel adaptation of the global phenomenon AFTER! Uncover Tessa and Hardin's love story as you've never seen it before . . . Anna Todd's original story comes to life with breathtaking illustrations by Pablo Andres.
Blurb - There was the time before Tessa met Hardin, and then there’s everything AFTER . . .
Life will never be the same. #Tessa Tessa is a good girl with a sweet, reliable boyfriend back home. She’s got direction, ambition, and a mother determined to keep her on course. But she’s barely moved into her freshman dorm when she runs into Hardin, with his tousled brown hair, cocky British accent, and tattoos. Good looking, confident . . . and rather rude, even a bit cruel. For all his attitude and insults, Tessa should hate Hardin. And she does―until she finds herself alone with him in his room. Something about his dark mood grabs her, and when they kiss it ignites a passion she’s never known before. He'll call her beautiful, then insist he isn’t the one for her, making excuses and disappearing, again and again. He’ll turn away, yet every time when she pushes back, he’ll only pull her in deeper. Despite the reckless way Hardin treats her, Tessa is drawn to his vulnerability, determined to unmask the real Hardin beneath all the lies. A good girl . . . a bad boy . . . something undeniable . . . and everything AFTER.
Short summary - After tells the story of Tessa, an intelligent and conservative young woman who has been raised by an overprotective single mother. When she begins college she finds herself constantly thrown in the way of Hardin, the baddest, bad boy of them all who has cruel intentions.
Character list :
Tessa Young (Staring main character) - Hardin scott (Staring main character)
Landon Gibson (Semi main character) - Noah Porter (Semi main character)
Kenneth “Ken” Scott (Semi main character) - Karen Gibson (Semi main character)
Carol Young (Recurring character) - Molly Sanbels (Recurring character)
Tristan Thomals (Recurring character) - Steph Jones (Recurring character)
Nate Bryson (Recurring character) - Zed Evans (Recurring character)
-My Final thoughts (likes, dislikes and recommend for) are -
I love this book but I still hate the fact that Tessa cheated so many times on Noah and not only did he know about it but also kept giving her so many more chances. I also didn’t like the fact that Noah kept telling her what she could and couldn't do even telling her who she can and can’t hangout with. This graphic novel is one of my favorite graphic novels and the designs and colors that they have chosen to use in this graphic novel complements the storyline very well. I love the fact that they used Dark colors to show more intense movements and happy bright colors to lighter scenes. The drawings and graphic art in this graphic novel are amazing. The artwork stays true to the novels and the movie scenes as well which I love.
Just make sure you read the triggered warning first if you struggle with getting triggered from something that has happened to you or is still happening to you or someone you know. Then decide if you feel comfortable enough reading this, but this book is great for young adults and late teenagers since it explores relationships, friendships and college life. In my opinion the novel series is even more full on and the movie series is heaps less full on especially the first movie . In my opinion I would first start out with watching the movies series, of which there are five movies now. Then reading the graphic novels, then go onto reading the novel series just to make sure you won’t get triggered.
-Why I chose this book to do a book review on?
Reason one - Being because I love this franchise so much including the novel and movies. I also really wanted to get back into reading and so wanted to re-read this graphic novel in time for the second graphic novel after vol 2 release date.
Reason two - I also wanted to share with others the storyline and how there are good morels and things that you can learn from in this book, but also if you love the movies but feel like the novel series may be too full on for you now there is a less full on version for you to read. The graphic novel is between the movie and novel series more on the novel storyline but like the movie series in which it is heaps less full on.
Also in this series:
Quote #2 - “After everything, we made it. Whatever the hell our souls are made of, they are the same” - Hardin
The first two movies in the movie franchise
1 - AFTER 2 - AFTER WE COLLIDED
The first two novels in the book series
1 - AFTER 2 - AFTER WE COLLIDED
Other books you may like to read
1 - THE 100 BY KASS MORGAN
2 - PRETTY LITTLE LIARS BY SARA SHERARD
3 - ONE OF US IS LYING BY KAREN M . McMANUS
4 - LOOKING FOR ALASKA BY JOHN GREEN
More books written by Anna Todd that i also used to read
- THE LANDON SERIES (TWO NOVELS)
- BRIGHTEST STAR SERIES (FIVE NOVELS)
More books Illustration by Pablo Andres that i also used to read
- SCOOP’S (GRAPHIC NOVEL SERIES)
- ILLENIUM PRESENTS (GRAPHIC NOVEL SERIES)
💜Thank you for reading my Second book review 🩶

Hello! 😄 For the cottagecore asks, I'd like to ask 🌱 and 🍄 please!
*is shooketh* You're the first one to ever reply to me when I reblog one of these post, in all the years I've been on Tumblr! Thank you!
"🌱: What is something you want to begin learning?"
Ooh...so many things. I'd love to learn to garden. Nothing big, just a few veggies, especially some for Todd (my pet tortoise*). I've never been a green thumb, so it would be new. There's so many recipes I'd love to learn, and plan to experiment with. Umm...🤔 I had another, and I know there's more, but my mind is suddenly blanking on me.
Honestly I have many things I'd love to finish learning, too. That's it's own list...
*I've neglected posting pictures of him for a while. Someday I will remedy this.
"🍄: What is quote you find inspiring?"
Ooh boy, where do I even begin? This is going to be rambling.
The main quote that comes to mind when i think about this is one is:
"Crying does not indicate that you are weak. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive."
Goodreads is saying that its from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I found it on Polyvore (RIP) ages ago and don't remember who they sourced it from. But I still find it very moving, a good reminder. I've thought of it often ever since.
There's also a Tumblr post I saw forever ago, that I'm not going to even try and find, since I doubt I could find it right now. But I was about how you can just change your life and actions whenever you want, and how mindblowing it is that us humans can just do that. And I think about that concept A Lot.
There is also a number of Bible verses, but I won't list those here. And song lyrics, too, have always have had an effect on me. The list is too long and great to be complete, but here are some specific ones I know have had a deep impact on me:
This line from "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman:
"Still gotta make a decision/ Leave tonight or live and die this way;"
Most of the song "Breathe (2am)" by Anna Nalick (I'm not going to post the lyrics, but I highly recommend the song if someone hasn't heard it);
The bridge of "Time Marches On" by Tracy Lawrence:
"The south moves north/ North moves south/ A star is born/ A star burns out/The only thing/ That stays the same is/Everything changes/Everything changes;"
And "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. (Again, not posting lyrics, highly recommend listening to the song!)
Again there's many more, these are the main one that come to mind.
Thank you so much for sending me this ask! Really got me thinking! And sorry it took so long to reply!

what’s your top 10 favorite female characters?
(in no order)
1.rogue (X-MEN) - my first fave character and still one of my faves. i know most people seem to think anna paquin was miscast and/or the filmmakers didn't make the character as badass, i guess, as she's in the comics, but i like this take on her plus nostalgia def factors in (and it rarely does w me). she's just a scared teenager who wants to fit in; it's a great take on the character imo.
2. helen prins (MANHATTAN) - my girl, my number one girl. a genius who i badly wish i knew what sam shaw had planned for her in the cancelled four seasons (her role in JUPITER is kinda small, but significant). only person who could take a jab at robert oppenheimer AND impress him. AN ICON. SAM, PLEASE ANSWER MY TEXTS ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO HER!!!
3. peggy olson (MAD MEN) - i mean. do i need to explain her? i could go on forever about how great she is. no one will ever do it like she did.
4. tess ocean (OCEAN'S trilogy) - i hate it when people say she's the worst character in the franchise because she actually rules and w/o her, we wouldn't have the trilogy. the ~~julia roberts~~ scene in TWELVE is iconic, i do NOT accept criticism of it or its meta nature.
5. sarah pierce (LITTLE CHILDREN) - i love all of future oscar winner nominee todd field's female leads, but i'm giving the edge to sarah because she's the lead in my fave film of his and i love the book, too. it's funny cause i think kate winslet gives my least fave performance of his female leads (tho i still love her performance and i think she should have won the oscar for it), but i love the settings of the suburbs, the unhappiness she feels in the position she's in her life, the way she pines for brad, the book club scene. just a great, great character.
6. selina meyer (VEEP) - i mean, fuck the last two seasons. it's very much fuck the last two seasons. but selina was great even in them (which is more than i can say for literally every other character). i hate the phrase 'no one else could play this character but x' cause it's overused, but it does apply her. no one else could have played selina meyer but julia louis-dreyfus.
7. elizabeth jennings (THE AMERICANS) - KERI RUSSELL EMMY WHEN???
8. julia ogden (MURDOCH MYSTERIES) - i love her evolution throughout the show, i love her relationship w william murdoch (i could write a dissertation on it tbh), i love that she's a trailblazer, i love everything about her. she's on my tv screen rn and she's just the coolest.
9. addison montgomery (GREY'S ANATOMY) - i rewatched the first eight seasons late last year/earlier this year and whenever she popped up, i'd practically cheer. how can you not lover her?
10. lucy moderatz (WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING) - i never wanted to see a character be happy more than her. this is sandra bullock's best role and one of the best characters in a romcom and you can quote me on that!

Though they both played Anna Leonowens in revivals of The King and I, Donna and Mary Beth's dear friendship began with a little off-Broadway musical called Birds of Paradise in 1987 with music by David Evans, lyrics by Winnie Holzman, and a collaborative book effort. (Libretto here) The creators were students at NYU's musical theatre program, and considering the director and cast, this should have been an impressive feat. Well...
The story concerns an amateur theatre group that's shaken to its core when a professional actor joins the company. Marjorie (played by Mary Beth Peil) still harbors affections for said professional actor from their school days while landscaper Hope (Donna Murphy) is "a depressed feminist," according to the libretto description. Which seems right up tumblr's alley.
The full company included: Todd Graff (Homer), John Cunningham (Lawrence Wood), Crista Moore (Julia), an early musical theatre-career Mary Beth Peil (Marjorie), Andrew Hill Newman (Dave), Donna Murphy (Hope), J. K. Simmons (Andy), and Barbara Walsh (Stella), who was cut from this tournament in the final cull.
Of the experience, Donna has said little publicly. "After Drood I was offered Birds of Paradise. I loved doing that show. Arthur Laurents* directed. That's a book in and of itself! So I had that experience and met some of the dearest friends of my life: Mary Beth Piel (sp), Todd Graff, Barbara Walsh. In Birds of Paradise I was a tomboyish character for the bulk of the piece. My agents are submitting me for theatre and television and the feedback is, "she's talented but there's something kind of masculine about her." And I'm thinking, "Oh, God, because I played Edwin Drood and now I am playing this tomboy?" I couldn't believe it." Nothing Like a Dame, 2014 (p.g. 187)
While Donna chose to gloss over that particular credit on her resume, Mary Beth Peil was less reticent. Older, wiser, and no longer giving a fuck, Peil is willing to fill us in on the backstage drama of more than one tense feud. Of Birds of Paradise, she said, "That was such a special show...We had so much fun. [Laurents] was intense. I learned so much from him. He wanted us to do Chekhov. We began to see his weakness in his need to be cruel. He took it out on Donna, which shocked all of us because Donna was the best thing in the show and had the most to offer. He kept saying that she reminded him of Kim Stanley and in his mind that was not a good thing. Donna didn't do anything to deserve it." - Here's to the Ladies, 2023 (p.g. 83)
The musical premiered in late October, 1987 at the Off-Broadway Promenade Theatre and closed the following month after 29 previews and 24 performances. Reviews were scathing, to say the least.
Despite the reviews, a cast recording is available for your enjoyment.

*Arthur Laurents (1917-2011): playwright, director, and grade-A asshole of the highest order. To quote Mary Rodgers, "the little shit."
Broadway Divas Tournament: 2A
Donna Murphy (1959) “DONNA MURPHY (Anna) received the 1996 Tony Award, as well as Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for her performance in The King and I. She also received the 1994 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for her portrayal of Fosca in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Passion. Last summer she was featured as Dorothy Trowbridge in Mr. Lapine’s Twelve Dreams at Lincoln Center (Drama Desk nomination). Other Broadway Credits include: Edwin Drood in The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Human Comedy, and They’re Playing Our Song. Off-B’way: The Whore in Michael John LaChuisa’s Hello Again (Drama Desk nom.), Rose in Song of Singapore (Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle noms.), Hey Love; The Songs of Mary Rodgers, Privates on Parade, Showing Off, Birds of Paradise, A…My Name is Alice, Little Shop of Horrors. Regional work includes Miss Julie (McCarter), Pal Joey (Huntington), Williamstown, Portland Shage Co. and Goodspeed. She made her feature film debut in Jade, and co-stared (sp) in “Someone Had to Be Benny” for HBO. Other TV includes: Francesa Cross on Stephen Bocho’s “Murder One,” “Law & Order,” “A Table at Ciro’s” (PBS Great Performances), “Another World” and the American Playhouse Production of Passion. Ms. Murphy can be heard on the original cast recordings of Passion (Grammy Award), and Hello Again, and is featured on Leonard Bernstein’s New York on Electra/Noneshuch.” – Playbill bio from The King and I, December 1996.
Mary Beth Peil (1940) "MARY BETH PEIL (Anna Leonowens), before joining the 1982 Los Angeles production of The King and I, received national acclaim for her television portrayal of Alma Winemiller in Lee Hoiby's opera Summer and Smoke (based on the Tennessee Williams play), produced by PBS and the Chicago Opera Theatre. As a member of New York's Theatre for a New Audience she has apperaed in many productions of Shakespeare. A Graduate of Northwestern University and a First Prize winner of the Metropolitian Opera Auditions, Mary Beth has been featured in opera and musical theatre with such companies as The Metropolitan Opera National Company, the New York City Opera, the Lake George Opera and the Minnesota Opera. She has appeared as soloist with the New York Philharmonic, Honolulu Symphony, Buffalo Philharmonic, the New York Young Concert Artists and the Cincinnati Area Artists Series. Favorite musical theatre roles that she has performed include Rosabella in Most Happy Fella, Magnolia in Show Boat and Kate in Kiss Me, Kate." - Playbill bio from The King and I, March, 1985.

"We have Donna Murphy as Dolly. We have Donna Murphy as Aurelia. What are we doing to get Donna Murphy in a Mame revival so she can hit the Jerry Herman trifecta? I need this woman back on a stage immediately and genuinely, I cannot tell you how much money I'd be realistically willing to shell out. And on a more personal note? What do I have to do to get Donna Murphy to look at me like she wants to devour me whole? The things I want to do to this woman... She has chemistry with every single person she crosses paths with. I need her carnally."
youtube
"Mary Beth Peil's hair deserves a Tony Award of its own. She started going grey almost twenty years ago and never looked back. A grey-haired octogenarian who's actively out here being hot and sexy and showing skin is quite possible one of the hottest things in the world. Let me reiterate: I want to fuck this old woman."

I just saw someone commenting on Pride an Prejudice with "Kinda reminds me of Bridgerton" and just minutes later someone else ascribed "Whatever our souls are made of ..." to Anna Todd, and I'm starting to lose my will to live here.
#for legal reasons this is an exaggeration#but how is it possible not to be aware that bridgerton is built on the style of austen (and other authors of her time)#and that this quote about souls is from Wuthering Heights when Anna Todd mentions it in her books?#literature#jane austen#pride and prejudice#wuthering heights#emily bronte#anna todd
