my night kinda took a turn to not be so great which has resulted in me crying on the couch and feeling like i'm very undesirable.

my cat followed me out to the couch and literally nudged and pushed herself into my arms and proceeded to lay on my chest with her paws stretched over me, and then slid into my armpit/shoulder and is purring in overtime.

just when i feel like i'm truly alone, she finds me and lays with me every single time. and i know a lot of people say this sentiment, but my cat is so much more than just a cat. she is my everything and her little life means more to me than most things in this world. i feel like i have a real connection with her and she understands me too.

she's by my side no matter where i am, and her presence brings me such comfort and happiness.

she's my little buddy. my best gal. she's getting old but she'll always be my baby. i love her so much, and i know she loves me too

Republicans have found a new way to try to curry favor with Donald Trump: by pushing to have his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, appointed to the Senate. A number of Republicans are cheering the idea that the daughter-in-law could take the place of Sen. Marco Rubio, who has been picked to serve as secretary of State. As in her current role co-chairing the Republican National Committee, Lara Trump’s main qualification appears to be that she married into the Trump family. “Lara Trump would be a GREAT Senator and represent Floridians well,” Sen. Rick Scott wrote on social media. Scott is reportedly the most prominent Republican pushing for Trump.

Alabama Sen. Katie Britt is also on board the nepotism train. She told Axios that Lara Trump would be a “tremendous pick” and said she “understands the America First agenda.” In a social media post, Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna demanded that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appoint the daughter-in-law. If Rubio leaves the Senate, the decision would fall to DeSantis, one of Donald Trump’s failed primary rivals who was derided as “pudding fingers” in a pro-Trump ad. Trump also floated other demeaning nicknames for DeSantis, including “Meatball Ron.” In an interview on Fox News, which has specialized for years in promoting unqualified Trumps for major positions, Lara Trump said she would “love to consider” taking the position. Lara Trump, who is married to Trump son Eric, was installed as the Republican National Committee’s co-chair earlier this year. She previously served as a producer and host of a pro-Trump video program run by the Trump campaign.

Nepo baby Lara Trump could be in line to fill Marco Rubio’s Senate seat in Florida for at least until the 2026 elections.

joel miller definitely loves with his whole heart, and i feel like that’s why he’s so closed off to anyone who isn’t family.

aside from just being not that great at expressing his feelings through words, he knows that once he lets someone past that line from “somebody i know” to “somebody i care about”, he isn’t going back and that scares him.

he’s already encountered loss of one of the greatest forms: losing a child. if he does love with his whole heart like i think he does, then i could not imagine the overwhelming fear of that happening again with ellie. she wormed her way into his heart from the very beginning. now he’s locked in. he cares about her, she’s family now, so in his head, it’s now his absolute duty to make sure nothing happens to her.

it’s why he takes “failure” so hard, it’s why he spent so many years looking for tommy, it’s why (in the show) news of tommy maybe being dead was crippling, it’s why he closed himself off for twenty years after his daughter died, it’s why, in those twenty years, tess is the only person he ever really connected with. because when he loves, he loves hard. he protects. he cares. he tends. he lives for others rather than himself.

and it’s equally as beautiful as it is heartbreaking. because we see the toll it takes on him in the game and show. and while we don’t see joel in a romantic relationship, he’d be the same in that sense too. loving with his whole heart. acts of love. tending. protection.

the closest example we get to that is tess, and we honestly see it there. with the way he tends to her after her scrabble with robert and his guys. (in the show) they’re seen laying together in bed and cuddling. joel is obviously insanely protective of her because he has a reputation. robert is scared of him because he knows joel will want to kill him for what he did to tess. he’s like tess’ watchdog during deals.

once you’re in his circle, you’re in for life, and joel is going to make it a priority to love, care for, and protect you in the ways that joel does and can. even if he’s bad at the emotional stuff.
