Synopsis:

Reeling from her recent breakup, Momo Ayase, a popular high schooler, shows kindness to her socially awkward schoolmate, Ken Takakura, by standing up to his bullies. Ken misunderstands her intentions, believing he has made a new friend who shares his obsession with aliens and UFOs. However, Momo's own eccentric occult beliefs lie in the supernatural realm; she thinks aliens do not exist. A rivalry quickly brews as each becomes determined to prove the other wrong.

Despite their initial clash over their opposing beliefs, Momo and Ken form an unexpected but intimate friendship, a bond forged in a series of supernatural battles and bizarre encounters with urban legends and paranormal entities. As both develop unique superhuman abilities, they learn to supplement each other's weaknesses, leading them to wonder if their newfound partnership may be about more than just survival.

Finished airing in 2024 with a total of 12 episodes.

It's completely absurd. Like balls to the wall (fitting) just insane and absurd. I kept finding myself letting out a startled laugh just because of how ridiculous and random some things were. The comedic timing was spot on.

Love the opening and ending themes, the animation/ art, love turbo granny, Momo the kickass female lead, Pretty boy losers, losers in love, supportive and awesome female friends and a delusional highschool girl who's convinced she's the next sailor moon.

Didn't love all the dick and ball jokes but they didn't ruin the experience for me, at times they were even funny because of the timing and the absurdity as mentioned above. Could 100% do without the aliens and now absolutely terrifying old men preying on teenage girls, really don't love that aspect of the show.

I feel pretty neutral about the use of nudity/ partial nudity in the show. It feels like a bit much at times and certainly unnecessary but it never really comes off as though it's trying to be enticing or sexy so I can brush off that bit of anime bullshit from this one.

Overall I don't really understand why people are calling it the anime of the year but it's a pretty fun show with a lovable characters, excellent animation and an enjoyable and interesting story. I look forward to season 2... but if I hadn't already read ahead with the manga I would be absolutely outraged by the cliffhanger the season left off on. I was pulling a classic surprised Pikachu face when I realized exactly where they were planning to leave it off. Dirty move there.

I know that realistically you can only fit so many movies into a list of approximately 100, but I cannot take that "How many of tumblr's favorite movies have you seen?" list that's been going around seriously because there are some truly egregious omissions.

Some of it is very clearly recency bias, which makes me wonder if the op truly wasn't on here in 2013 or so, but you're telling me you made a list of "tumblr's favorite movies" that doesn't include Pacific Rim or Mad Max: Fury Road? Because, like, I was there, Gandalf.

People like to characterize human Spongebob as some waifish barely 20 years old looking twink but honestly I think he'd be more like Pat from the UK version of Ghosts.

The shorts, the passion for what he does and his craft, the dorky glasses, the positive and all forgiving attitude, the knee high socks, the love of nature and the outdoors, the tie, the love for his friends and family, the shoes, the love of pranks, the OVERALL WHOLESOMENESS AND GOOD NATURE

if you haven't seen nezha 2 and it's in theaters in your country DO NOT WAIT FOR IT TO GO DIGITAL walk into your nearest showing and sit down and let those 2 hours and 23 minutes of glorious meticulous animation punch you in the face over and over with its narrative about rising up against your oppressors and refusing to seek approval from people who will never view you as an equal and understanding that the ways of the generations before should not always be passed down to the generations after and you must pave your own path forward if there is none laid out before you and there is always time to choose good even if you made mistakes in the past because you are the only one who decides what you become

Laios: people are hard to understand... There's way too many social rules to follow, popular conversation topics, eye contact, etc. They also rarely say what they mean and often they say the opposite, so much so that misunderstandings happen regularly.. Monsters are predictable animals with a set of rules and precautions you can follow to either tame or defeat them. if you know what to do, they're very easy to deal with!

Kabru: monsters are wild creatures with jerky unpredictable movements.. Their attitude can change in a second and if you don't have an insane amount of knowledge about them they can be, and often are, very dangerous. Human cultures often have strict and easy to follow rules that depend on certain communication strategies that are somewhat agreed upon universally. People no matter of background also react the same to many things (smiling, frowning, pupil dilation, etc.). if you know what to do, they're very easy to deal with!
