Pt 5
Lucifer stood nervously on the stage, after Adam clapped him on the shoulder, winking at him. He didn't look bothered to see Lucifer, but Lucifer was bothered to see him. Why was Adam here, at the zoo? Did he work here and at the aquarium? What, did he work at the wildlife park too? The arboretum? Six flags?
"Okay, Lute, if you want to put Hoot away, we can start the demonstration!" Adam said happily, and the girl on stage with him shot Lucifer the most toxic look he'd ever seen outside of a courtroom, before she walked over and had the owl step down onto a stand. When she came back, her expression hadn't changed much.
"What are we doing, Adam?" Lute asked, not the most amazing actress in the world, but Lucifer didn't think it'd be a good idea to tell her that right now.
"I'm going to have you and Lucifer stand about a foot apart from one another, and then we're going to see what Sweetness can do." Adam said easily, leaving Lucifer wondering who the fuck Sweetness was. The eagle? Who named it that?
The gist of it was Adam was going to have the very large eagle fly between Lucifer and the angry woman, narrowly avoiding hitting them. It went off without a hitch, Lucifer felt the power of the eagle going past him, the gust of wind from it's wings, and it was weirdly invigorating to be close to.
But all Lucifer could think about was Adam leaning in to his ear after and whispering to him to come back stage after the show was over. He'd turned red again as he made his way back into the bleachers, beside Charlie, who was talking animatedly and at length as to how cool he looked, and how scary it must have been.
Over the course of the show, Adam brought out snakes and spiders and one fairly large cat, and a parrot that Charlie seemed to love. The show was a hit with the kids that were there, and they all got a little adventure coloring book for their efforts, passed out by Lute, who handed Lucifer theirs with much more force than needed.
They lingered behind after, until Adam poked his head out and gestured for them to come back around. Charlie seemed confused, until they walked through the door, and could see all the holding enclosures for the animals, and her eyes got huge. The Lute girl was leaning against a table, glaring at him openly, but Lucifer tried to ignore her to the best of his abilities.
"I don't work here," Adam said, taking Lucifer's attention off of her. He blinked in surprise, not knowing what to say. "I mean, I used to work here, with some of their aquatics, but then I got the job at the aquarium. But, I'd been doing this show for years, and I have friends here like Lute, so I still volunteer to do it a few times a week."
"As long as you don't think I'm stalking you," Lucifer laughed nervously, not knowing what to say, especially not in front of Lute. "Charlie loved the show, though, didn't you CharBar?"
Charlie barely nodded, crouched and sitting eye to eye with a raccoon.
"How about you?" Adam asked, and Lucifer nodded repeatedly.
"It was great! I love birds, to tell you the truth. It was too bad the parakeet exhibit was closed, I love feeding them on sticks. So does Charlie." Lucifer told him, and Adam hummed to himself.
"I can get you in," Adam said, and Lute sent him a look.
"Adam..."
"It's fine, relax Lute." Adam said with a shrug, clearly not caring much for her opinion on the matter, which gave Lucifer an odd sense of victory over the woman.
"You're going to get in trouble," Lute warned. "They shouldn't even be back here..."
"He's a friend," Adam said with a hint finality in his voice, turning to leave and nodding for Lucifer to follow him.
"Is that what they're calling it now?" Lute asked under her breath, but Lucifer had heard it anyway. What had she meant by that; and did Adam actually see him as a friend? Lucifer didn't fully know, but at least he had a good view, watching Adam walk ahead of him.
Lucifer laughed as Charlie was suddenly swarmed by about ten parakeets, as soon as they'd gotten into the parakeet exhibit. Adam had given her a few seed sticks, and the birds reacted in kind. Lucifer took a few pictures of his daughter, deciding one was most definitely going to be his new phone wallpaper.
"Hey, you want to go on a date sometime?"
Lucifer was so distracted by Charlie and the birds, he'd almost missed the question, but it sank in quickly enough, and Lucifer was left blinking owlishly up at Adam.
"If not, it's whatever, I just thought-" Adam glanced away. "It doesn't matter."
"Oh my god, no, yes." Lucifer breathed out, and Adam looked confused. "I mean, yes. God, yes. I'd love to. Pretty please."
Adam laughed at the tacked on nicety, grinning down at him as a parakeet landed on Lucifer's shoulder. "You're such a fucking weirdo. I like that."

Good News - July 1-7
Like these weekly compilations? Tip me at $Kaybarr1735! And if you tip me and give me a way to contact you, at the end of the month I'll send you a link to all of the articles I found but didn't use each week!
1. Footage reveals 'miracle eagle chick' in flight
“In an unprecedented display of extended eagle parenting, the two white-tailed parents skipped this year's breeding season to continue to tend to their year-old offspring. The youngster's wing was broken when the nest fell to the ground during unseasonably wild weather last year. […] The fully-grown chick was being fed fish by its parents, caring behaviour that the eagle expert described as “unprecedented” for the birds. […] “If an immature bird was to reappear near its nesting parents or any other pair the following year [after dispersing], it would likely be aggressively chased away. That’s why this is so exceptional.””
2. Rare wild horses back on Kazakhstan’s Golden Steppe after being saved from extinction
“For the first time in at least 200 years, wild Przewalski's horses have returned to Kazakhstan’s Golden Steppe. [...] Przewalski's horses are considered the last truly wild horse left on the planet as other species like the American Mustang are descended from domesticated animals. The species were once common across the vast steppes of Central Asia. [...] The zoo will also be sending some Przewalski’s to Mongolia in 2026 where a reintroduction programme has seen their population boom to well over 850 animals.”
3. For one Austin summer camp, public transit is part of the adventure
“[... “O]ver 90% of the kids will tell you that their favorite part of ATX Kids Club is riding the bus.” That’s the program’s goal: getting kids to have fun on public transit so they’ll grow up using it. The nonprofit’s summer camp, which takes kids ages 4 to 12 on field trip “adventures” around the city, uses Capital Metro buses as its main form of transportation. [...] Before camp, [the field trip leader] said, he believed in stereotypes about transit being dirty and “scary” — but his experience with Austin’s bus system has been the opposite so far.”
4. Brazil Prevents Meta from Using People to Power Its AI
“[…P]ersonal photos of Brazilian children are used to build powerful AI tools without their knowledge or consent. In turn, others use these tools to create malicious deepfakes, putting even more children at risk of harm. […] The Brazilian government’s decision is a powerful, proactive move to protect people’s data privacy in the face of swiftly evolving uses and misuses of AI. Yesterday’s action especially helps to protect children from worrying that their personal data, shared with friends and family on Meta’s platforms, might be used to harm them in ways that are impossible to anticipate or guard against.”
5. Ambitious Living Shoreline Project Combats Coastal Land Loss in South Carolina
“Living shorelines stabilize coastlines by reducing the impacts of waves and rising sea levels. They are made of materials that promote the growth of marsh grasses and commercially important species like oysters and crabs. […C]oastal sites could offset almost 80 percent of tidal habitat loss with careful conservation and management. […] Young people in this AmeriCorps program receive training, a living stipend, an education award, and connections to potential employers.”
6. Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge announces proposal to modernize water infrastructure
“Under the refuge’s proposal, the Service would improve 4,400 feet of an earthen water delivery ditch, rehabilitate 1,200 feet of Upper Lake Dam, develop 100 feet of new diversion channel into critical nesting habit for federally endangered southwestern willow flycatcher, modernize current water monitoring stations and improve 640 feet of the Pahranagat Ditch Drain. […] The improvements will result in significant habitat improvements for multiple bird species, [… and] also enhance flood control holding capabilities of the Upper Lake for the Pahranagat Valley.”
7. New chemical process separates textile fibers for easier recycling
“A combined team of chemical and biomolecular engineers [... have] developed a way to chemically separate fibers in textiles, allowing them to be recycled more quickly and cheaply than conventional methods. [... T]hey found they could break apart the textiles in as little as 15 minutes. They also noted that the process [breaks down polyester and spandex into] organic compound[s] that could conceivably be used to create more polyester. [... T]he material integrity of both the nylon and the cotton were retained, suggesting they could be used to make new batches of clothes.”
8. Pongamia trees grow where citrus once flourished, offering renewable energy and plant-based protein
“[Some Floridian] farmers are turning to the pongamia tree, a climate-resilient tree with the potential to produce plant-based proteins and a sustainable biofuel. […] Pongamia trees also don't need fertilizer or pesticides. They flourish in drought or rainy conditions. And they don't require teams of workers to pick the beans. […] The legume is now being used to produce several products, including Panova table oil, Kona protein bars and protein flour. The legumes also produce oil that can be used as a biofuel, largely for aviation, which leaves a very low carbon footprint[….]”
9. Trans candidate celebrates receiving more votes than anti-trans campaigner Posie Parker
“An independent trans candidate says that she hopes receiving more total votes than anti-trans campaigner Posie Parker at the general election will show trans children that they are loved. […] Bristol Central was won by Green Party’s out bisexual co-leader Carla Denyer, while Parker received just 196 votes, equal to 0.5 per cent[….] Elsewhere, trans candidate Sophie Molly secured 225 votes standing as an independent at the other end of the country, in Aberdeen South[….]”
10. Ohio zoo celebrates birth of critically endangered western lowland gorilla
“The Columbus Zoo said the gorilla was born June 29 and first-time mother Sue is "very attentive and providing excellent care to her little one, who she nuzzles and cradles closely." […] “With tiny hands and beautiful big brown eyes that melt our hearts, this baby is absolutely precious—in regard to both the cuteness factor and what the baby represents for this species’ future. We are proud of the dedication of our care teams who diligently work to provide the gorillas with top quality care and wellbeing while continuing the legacy of the Columbus Zoo’s renowned gorilla program,” said Audra Meinelt, curator of the Columbus Zoo’s Congo Expedition region.”

Gorillas Climb Tall Trees at La Vallée des Singes by SloggerVlogger *Basoko, the youngest gorilla at La Vallée des Singes, loves climbing tall trees, often seen with Colobus monkeys. * The youngest gorilla at the La Vallée des Singes Wildlife Park, Basoko, loves the tall trees at his home. He regularly climbs all the way to the top. Zooming out, a couple of gorillas are browsing at the bottom, and quickly zooming back in as the youngster climbs among the trees with the Colobus monkeys. The monkeys don’t seem too happy to share the trees. Things get busy at the bottom before feeding time. You’ll see next week what happens at feeding time. For now, I’ll carry on showing you the gorillas in the trees. I believe it might be Ivindo holding on to the tree beside the Colobus monkeys. The gorilla jumping in the trees might be either D’Jomo or Mawete. He is playing at the bottom of a tree, then runs past his dad and Moseka, I believe. #gorilla #trees Don't miss a thing—hit Subscribe and Turn on all Notifications to be part of our Great Ape escapades every week. 🦍Check out rawshutterbug Redbubble for a variety of T-shirts, stickers, apparel, homeware, and much more: 🛍️ https://rb-ambassador.pxf.io/Gorillas #AD #redbubbleambassador 🦍Express yourself with customisable T-shirts, stickers, apparel, homeware, and more from rawshutterbug Zazzle: https://www.zazzle.com/collections/gorilla_gallery-119832843969795462?rf=238978496872225031 🦍Amazon USA 🇺🇲 Store: https://www.amazon.com/shop/sloggervlogger #Ad #AmazonAssociate 🦍 Amazon UK 🇬🇧 Store: https://amzn.to/47mDmbA 📷Join the adventure on my travel channel, exploring zoo hyperlapses, walkthroughs, and animal habitats and more. https://youtube.com/@MSVRVisualTravel?sub_confirmation=1 🌐My website: https://msvrvisual.weebly.com/sloggervlogger.html Some of the links above and in the video are affiliate links! And another thing!
I don't really even care if you DO see an actual wildlife conservationist interacting with animals like this. I dont care if ostriches and emus can do fine on farms here. The fact that he's doing this qith BEARS! and putting "DO NOT ATTEMPT" all over is BS. That's not informative, it's just covering his own ass in case anyone ever gets a hand bit off and says, "but I saw tyamonganimals do it!"
That's some real "do as I say, not as I do" BS (par for the course with xtians who have to shoehorn the Bible into everything, I guess!). A RESPONSIBLE caretaker who is actually dedicated to outreach, education and conservation would simply never share videos of them sticking their hand into a FREAKING GRIZZLY ENCLOSURE?????
This isn't wildlife education OR outreach, and it's certainly not conservation. It's clickbait.
Even IF saying "do not attempt" disclaimers actually worked, and even IF people had the critical thinking skills to see a video like this and then say, "I will simply never do this!" It doesn't change the fact that HE (and other staff here at the "adventure park") are doing it. THEY could still get hurt. THOSE ANIMALS could still get hurt. And there is STILL assuredly going to be people who come away from this experience- either from working with the animals or from merely visiting and petting them- who actually do think, "I petted that bear in the zoo one time so I'm basically pocahontas and I can approach wild animals in the same way." I know none of us want to think people do that stuff, BUT THEY ABSOLUTELY DO. I've seen a couple of tourists feeding gas station hot dogs to a rabid fox in broad daylight. That's the kind of people you HAVE to assume are watching content like this, because invariably, some of them will be! And for plenty of people, even if not ALL, they will walk away from videos like this with completely the wrong impression. "Animals are our friends, you can pet a bear if you just know what you're doing and tell other people not to!"
I'd also be willing to bet that people like Ty or his viewers also think it's OK to hand feed local wildlife if you're familiar with it, or they're "just birds/deer/racoons" or whatever. The damage this does *TO THE WILDLIFE* cannot be overstated. It is NOT! BENEFICIAL! To a wild animal to be inclined to approach a human for junk food. It is just not by ANY stretch of the imagination. They don't need you!!!! but feeding them will ensure that they learn to need you, and that they subsequently die from being too trusting of humans, either because they ate something bad, or because they got too fearless and approached the wrong person.
Basically no matter how you slice it this shit is irresponsible and its a detriment to the actual conservation places that do SO much work and outreach trying to combat the image of "wildlife" that "adventure parks" advertise to people. I Don't Like That.
Signed, someone who's worked with wildlife rehabilitators rather than circus entertainers 👍
#me#animals#wildlife#not cute#adventure parks really are closer in practice to a circus than to a conservation center.
