been in a 3ds era so booted up my new leaf town and was amazed nobody moved out, especially because portia told me it had been five years. that's not accurate bc i know i checked in on them right before new horizons came out, and at least once since i was living here, it's probably more like 2-1.5 years, but when i replaced the battery in the 3ds last yearish all the times and dates reset and i only just think i got it all working again (complicated little doohickey that can't sync like the switch does, plus i had like the homebrew time set correctly but apparently the device itself keeps time differently?)

considered modding/playing with it but honestly, sort of just leaving it like a little time capsule. i might swap out a few villagers with amiibo though if i get the urge....what i really miss is how new leaf had the island with all those minigames, it was so good and fun for multiplayer and i wish new horizons had that!! i love the customization of new horizons but

also installed wild world and playing with that a little - i started with city folk for a few months before getting new leaf with my 3ds but ww and cf are so similar that it feels familiar. it's such a different vibe, so much less focus on customization and tom nook and co are so much meaner (and still nicer than the gamecube screenshots i've seen....) and of course i got fucking PEARS again which is becoming an impressive record. every single time i've started an animal crossing game i get pears (my new horizons town has cherries only because i reset it at least twice trying to get anything but pears.) feels so statistically improbable at this point. goddamn pears (don't like pears irl and don't like how they look in the games, they blend with the trees and the other fruits are prettier lmao).

lots of other games and mods i've been poking around with, it is such a fun little console. this was meant to be a general 3ds post but it ended up just being animal crossing. having lots of fun with mk7 mods though

Even if I could, I can safely say I would rather not fuck with the already-tenuous fabric of linear time like that.

It isn't the kind of thing that holds my interest for long. Oh, and I've also played Pocket Camp (the phone version).

13. What brand of earbuds / earphones do you own? Do you like them? >> My earbuds are Raycon and my headphones are Sony. I do like them, a lot. 14. Did you ever think you were going to get into a car crash? Did you or didn't you, and why did you think this? Were you the passenger or the driver? >> I've witnessed a couple of worrisome moments but I've never seriously thought a crash was imminent.

16. Do you have a journal or diary that you write in on a daily or weekly basis? Did you used to keep one as a kid? >> I keep a daily journal in my Obsidian vault. I was very into journalling as a child, yeah.

18. Do you have difficulty swallowing pills? How often do you take them? >> I don't, but I've definitely met my share of challenging pills. Antibiotics were the fucking worst. As for the second question, I take a birth control pill nightly.

Happy Birthday Portia! 

This snooty dog has been in every Animal Crossing game, and she is based on a Dalmatian! She  is the only snooty dog in the series! Portia has the fashion hobby, and she loves to shop for new clothes and furniture! She’s skilled at photography, and one day she wants to be a stylist! She loves the song KK Disco, and her favorite coffee is a mocha with two milk and sugar! Wish her a very happy birthday, ruffian! 

Also, even if Nintendo continues to refuse to give me Digby rights, I will be buying the DLC....I have waited So Long to get Bill, Ava, and Cranston into houses that aren't the basic starter homes for your starter villagers.

Okumera

Heading out to other places from New Hope is always an experience. The train ride was, as always, odd to experience. I have no idea how far away from New Hope Okumera is, beyond the fact that it’s the “right” distance away, whatever that means.

Okumera is actually a really nice place. Most of the yokai I see are really sweet and friendly, and don’t look intimidating at all. When I ran into Portia and asked for her help I had to resist the urge to just cuddle her. She really did look like a Good Dog.

The antelope yokai I found out in a field of flowers had that same sweet almost delicate feel to him. He was happy to aid me as well. It felt like at any moment the spell around me would break and he’d vanish as quickly as any startled deer does.

My encounter with the horse yokai Roscoe was...much less enchanting. Standing still and letting an almost aggressive horse sniff me all over was a very bizarre experience. At least he seemed satisfied that I didn’t mean any harm and signed the petition.

I ran into Bunnie again. She fitted so well into the sweet playful nature of the town. She really read through what O’Hare had written before signing up, telling me that she might take up the cause as well.

Then I met the most stylish sheep I have ever encountered. She was just beautiful. Stunning. Just being near her I felt smaller. How could I compare to that? She smiled at me and told me that Okumera was a wonderful town, and I should feel free to explore it. I was guaranteed to find adventure if I did. I was so tongue tied. I’m lucky she took mercy on me and signed the petition without requiring me to ask her.

A tiny adorable teddy yokai was the last signature I needed. I sat down and just soaked in the charm of the place for quite a while after. When I realized I’d managed to space out for three solid hours I hurried to leave. As charming as Okumera was, it seemed to be trying to keep me there.

The place was just enthralling. I want to return. I’m not sure if I should.
