i sure do! week later i'm answering this question, cause it was so hard to gather all of my favourite works in one place! i'm pretty sure that i forgot some of them, so sorry. i’m so in awe cause this fandom has so many talented writers and there are so many works that i adore. all the writers mentioned here have so many great works, but i’m choosing one for each. if anything, you can go to author’s profile and check other works. i promise you will love them! including some finished works only, in case you want to read a completed stories. so, here are my favourites: - other people by jiaras okay, if you love normal people by sally rooney you have to read this one! it was one of the first works that i read and it’s simply one of the greatest for me. the way jj and kie act here, their love for each other is so magnificent. so please read it if you haven’t. - around the world by RaeOfFrickingSunshine i think this fic is canon in every jiara shipper heart. so well written, has so many details. I cried when i read some parts. just read it, it’s so good. also, it has a sequel that you have to read as well. - the pogue lyfe t-shirt company by YellowLaboratory another canon fic for me. sorry, but the way kie’s kook year is handled here is amazing. i consider this work as canon because it has so many things that were thrown as small details in the show. and it’s a prequel that we all deserved. also, there is a kind-of sequel for this work which is currently in progress, so check it out too. - the violence of the dog days by somewhere2start well, this one broke my heart into pieces. i’m so in awe how anxiety attacks were handled there - it’s amazingly accurate. also, the characters and how they act make you feel so many emotions. they are so vulnerable, so fragile. loved every word of it!- call my bluff, call you babe by smileymikey it’s fun and refreshing. i love these versions of pogues with all my heart! also, feels like you’re watching a romcom, so you should definitely read it.  - all my friends are bad kids by noos listen, i love kitty hawk rescue scene, i really do. but this fic about jj rescuing kie from blue ridge captured my heart after the first read. i loved it and would recommend it if you’re up reading alternative version of season three events.  - façades & fabricated feelings by ghostiewriter101 well, british!jj, football, college, banter. it has everything a girl can ask for! i loved every second of it, one of my favourite in the genre, so definitely recommend checking it out if you like au. - couch crashin’ by alphinia so this has to be read if you love romcom storylines. the way it’s written is amazing and the whole vibe really is great, so if you’re up for some comedic meet ugly tropes, you have to check this one! - let him know that you know best (cause after all, you do know best) by cowboylikebrii so, i cried. I’m saying it a lot now, but believe me this one absolutely makes you feel so many emotions. you can see characters struggling and trying to figure out what to do, how to feel. and the way it was written is just crazy beautiful. if you watched ‘life as we know it’, you know how this one is going to make you feel. - darkest before dawn by bobs read it a week before season three came out and instantly fell in love with this one. kiara’s struggles here are so well-written. i was literally spiralling with her during this fic because of how amazing her feels were delivered by author. - break up with your girlfriend cause i’m bored by RoseofWinterfell it’s funny and cute, makes you laugh and makes you root for the characters from the very beginning. also, some cambank here, so if you are a fan like me you have to check it!

- rip current by abigaylefayth it made me cry with ugly tears, really. it’s such a good beautiful thing, so if you love some good angst, please check it out.

- ‘cause it’s you by PAKficition amazing work that makes you feel things. just how crazy accurate characters behave, how they handle tension and feelings - like wow. i’ve read it and re-read it multiple times, definitely recommend.

yeah, i'm sure i forgot to include some works, but hope that these are enough for some time. hope that some of them are new for you and you will fall in love with them the same way i did!

Chimerashipping when I started shipping it if I did: Man, I don't even know… I think I'd seen a few fanarts before officially starting the series, and being like "Huh, if a huge part of the fandom just says 'fuck love triangles/demonizing the girl, let's make an OT3' that must be a well-written trio." I don't know when I actually got on board with it, but I think I was just sorta nodding along while marathoning the show and going "Hm, yep, I see it." my thoughts: Thank god people just say "What a healthy pair of platonic besties and a demon who has two hands," instead of just demonizing Mei or ignoring her. What makes me happy about them: They all bounce off each other in the best ways, and can always support each other. Also I love the various 'cuddle pile' fanarts. What makes me sad about them: ALL OF THEM NEED THERAPY. things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don't think I've actually seen anything that annoys me in Chimerashipping fanfic? things I look for in fanfic: Mei and MK being open about "Just because someone dates me doesn't mean they can ignore my bestie." Red Son being honest about liking both of them. Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Dragonfruitshipping + aroace MK My happily ever after for them: They all get some therapy, are happy and thriving. Red Son is an inventor/engineer, Mei is a hobbyist racer and streamer (she knows the professional world for both careers is rough), MK is just vibing and doing what makes him happy. who is the big spoon/little spoon: They're a sandwhich. Mei and MK on either side of Red. what is their favorite non-sexual activity: Snuggling. Also Mario Party/Mario Kart.

How I feel about this character: HE IS A JUST A GUY. LOOK AT THE GUY. Also holy hell, what a great friend + literal embodiment of 'little screentime, huge impact.' Also I've seen people say he and SWK were like Mei and MK, and I definitely agree. All the people I ship romantically with this character: N/A My non-romantic OTP for this character: Ao Lie + SWK = besties for lyfe My unpopular opinion about this character: I do NOT think the Samadhi Fire killed him. Leads to some amazing angst fanwork, but I don't think it happened. Simply because I'm pretty sure Mei would have been aware if her great x a thousand grandfather had spontaneously combusted, or if people in her bloodline had a tendency of dying via fire-splosion. I think it just hopped to his own child instead, and so on and so forth. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: Wish we could've had more scenes of him and SWK. my OTP: None. my cross over ship: None. a headcanon fact: I like to think he did a very fairy tale thing and married a random human farmgirl (I think there must've been a lot of humans in Mei's ancestry) and everyone was surprised.

gender/pronouns headcanon: i can only see him as a cis guy, but a cis guy who uses he/they

rate them out of ten: 8.5/10! i do really like him and his drama, he’s fun to hate and i like the plots surrounding him.

favorite thing about them: the absolute drama of it all. like, he’s such an incel but he has the dramatic flair to make him compelling, which is the opposite of bumblestripe, who’s a typical “nice guy” but has none of the charisma

least favorite thing about them: i wish they had explored his connection to his siblings/his jealousy of them more. i see that a lot in fan interpretations and i really like it!

random headcanon: he gets seasonal allergies during newleaf and has a weak immune system in general. he spends a lot of time being sniffly and a bit miserable.

oo i want to touch on the wing clipping thing but also jut be aware that "10 years birb experience" does not equal "expert in the ways of clipping bird wings." Especially since we never clipped our own bird's wings (there's hardly ever a good reason to and it's kinda like declawing a cat)

So yes, clipping different areas of the wings WILL have different results because different groups of feathers do different things. When you want to stop a bird from simply keeping lift, you clip the primary feathers.

However, if you were to clip the alula feathers, a bird would be able to fly, but would have significant trouble landing. So useful if you want to risk a bird crashing ig. Other groups of feathers being clipped would effect steering, etc.

I think it also could become relevant (depending on how your avian worldbuilding works) to acknowledge how different types of avians would be effected differently. Birds like parrots are very feet-based for birds, and the reason parrots tend do okay with clipped wings is because they would be spending a great deal of their time climbing with their feet anyway. In this way, a parrot avian would probably have a much easier time without wing use than, say, a sparrow avian. And ground and water fowl avians might be able to live almost normal lives.

I will say, if there's one thing that the fanfics absolutely get right is the fact that birds love to fly. For literal, IRL birds their wings do as much for them as our arms and legs combined. I would imagine avians would be very much the same.

And actually you could angst this farther with the fact that birds are very susceptible to neurosis. Clipped wings 4 lyfe + social pressure could have potentially devastating mental repercussions for avians. And stress in birds manifests itself in the form of picking and overpreening, "zoocosis" symptoms, and even - quite literally - death. It could also explain how avians have managed to be manipulated so far, as their biological need for family and safety would have driven them to fit in whatever the costs.

In particular, fun little angsty details to include in Tommy's behaviors (considering he had to run away from his flock and is stuck in a den of snakes) would be constantly picking at hair and nails to the point of bleeding, repeating behaviors that don't make logical sense (not in a tic way, but more of a "pace for hours and will 'blow off' other things to pace even tho it adds nothing to your life and stressed you out" kind of way), and even tachycarida/renal problems (<- althought i don't think this idea will get that medical)

but yeah. there's a lot of (actually accurate) angst for Birbs. Which isn't to say the fanfic stuff is bad (i enjoy it), but i feel like there's so much untapped potential.
