Angled Anattractional

Similar to angled aroace, however rather than just being on the aroace spectrum, an angled anattractional person is attractionless (aphysical, aemotional, aphysical). But unlike oriented anattractional, their identies are not strictly anattractional. For example, someone who is angled anattractional could be demiplatonic, greyfamilial, aroflux, and cupiosexual.

I think one thing that alienates me from certain parts of the aro community here is that I'm anattractional.

I have no interest in participating in attraction-based culture. I don't wish I felt attraction so I could relate to the alloallos, I'm mad at them. I'm mad at the culture.

I don't find it useful to think of friendships as being based on platonic attraction. I have a very regular relationship to friendships and that should be fine. I feel like the alloplatonic/aplatonic framework isn't for me.

it feels like it I adopt an alloplatonic or aplatonic label I'm adding an extra layer of seperation that doesn't exist for me. I never felt alienated because of lack of interest/attraction to friends. I never saw anyone talk about friendship as attraction anywhere else so I don't feel like I'm a part of the alloplatonic. I will say I am friending (as opposed to nonfriending). but in the way that I just randomly end up as friends with people who are physically near or have the same interests.

I don't experience tertiary attraction. I'm not oriented aroace. I'm not angled aroace. That framework has only served to make me more alienated. Not to say people don't experience tertiary attraction. but to say I am atetriary. if I want to hug someone that's because I want a hug, not because I thought something special about some individual. I'm atetriary.

I consider myself anattractional (& friending). I usually go by aro or aroace. I don't relate to alloaces at all, nor do I relate to oriented/angled aroaces. I probably relate more to aroallos than oriented aroaces. (based on what blogs I enjoy following). I don't exclusively relate or not relate to aplatonics.

Alspec / Al

An alternative term/label to describe being "Aspec", however with emphasis on how one feels like their attraction is important to how they experience being Aspec. In this case, someone whose Alsexual, may describe their sexuality as being BOTH Allosexual and Ace/Asexual or Acespec/Asexual Spectrum.

One who is Al feels as if both their attraction and how they experience their attraction as Aspec are both equally important to one's identity. For this reason Al or Alspec doesn't include those with a lack of attraction, such as Ace Aro Apl, etc. unless they're Al in another type of attraction. (In short this term doesn't cover Alloace and Alloaro in the case of not experiencing attraction period.) Al does however include those who feel as if one section of their orientation is both A and Allo, such as Asensual and Allosensual at the same time.

In general, this term can be used as an alternative to using terms such as Aspec, Gray-, etc for folks who view their form of attraction to be on equal level as who they're attracted to. This can include folks who are always on the spectrum between A- and Allo- without ever being fully either, or feeling as if no matter their orientation at the time, both labels are important to oneself.

This term was coined mostly due to the fact a lot of Aspec positivity or representation in posts is done with a heavy emphasis on being Aspec versus one's attraction as a whole. At least that's what I've seen a lot. In general I relate to both A- and Allo- experiences on pretty much an equal level and feel as if both how I experience my attraction is as important as who I'm attracted to.

In general I've used Grayace (Graysexual) to describe my sexuality as that's the closest thing under Aspec to describe my experience. However I've always felt who I'm attracted to is just as important as my Aspec identity. So this term was created, simply taking an L from Allo and slapping it onto A.

Later I'll be posting some sublabels for this term, henceforth why I also call it Alspec other than it just being an alternative to Aspec. This'll include Alsexual, Alromantic, Alplatonic, etc. I'll likely also coin Alace and Alaro (similar to Alloace and Alloaro) along with Alrose (similar to Aroacespec or Angled Aroace.)

Coining something like this has been on my mind for a while now, due to being Aspec in many ways, however not really relating to much of Aspec positivity due to the overwhelming emphasis on one's Aspec identity vs one's attraction or orientation as a whole.

For example, someone who is Al may prefer combo flags or terms over them being separated. Such as a Demisexual Bisexual, one may call oneself Demibisexual or just Demibi, and solely use a Demi & Bi combo flag instead of using both the Demiace and Bi flags. Someone who's Al may also just adjust their orientation flag, (ex: lesbian) to follow the angled format of the Al flag, and/or make a new simple-striped flag all-together along with it. These are just examples of how one may show oneself being Al vs prioritizing one part of their orientation over the other. Someone who's generally Acespec and Bisexual may also just call oneself Albi (Al-Bi).

TDLR; Al or Alspec is a term for those who feel equally connected to both Aspec experiences and Allospec experiences in a single form of attraction. Can be used as an alternative umbrella term instead of Aspec for those who feel this way about their orientation.

The flag's stripe meanings are as follows:

Red, First Stripe: Anattractional (such as Ace, Aro, etc) and Alspec Solidarity

Orange, Second Stripe: Complicated forms of Attraction

Pink, Third Stripe: Allospec Identities

White: Fourth Stripe: Feeling as if one's attraction is both Aspec and Allospec.

Gray, Fifth Stripe: Anattractional Spectrum / Aspec Identities

Light Blue, Sixth Stripe: Varying Interaction Stances. (Such as being Romance-Indifferent and/or Touch-Ambivalent.) Includes complicated boundaries due to being Alspec.

Blue, Seventh Stripe: Allospec and Alspec Solidarity

The bend/turn in the flag could also represent the intersection of Aspec and Allospec identity. These meanings aren't the only thing this flag can represent, these are just things that come to mind when describing feeling as if one is both Aspec and Allospec in the same form of attraction.

Defintion of Tertiary Attraction under cut

Taken form the Tertiary Attraction Wiki(link) : “Non-rose or tertiary attraction is an umbrella term originating in the aroace communities which describes forms of attraction besides romantic and sexual attractions, or besides physical and emotional.

For individuals who are not a-spec, a partnership may involve many or all forms of attraction. When one or more form of attraction is not experienced, such as with aromantic and asexual individuals, it may become easier to identify more specific forms of attraction.

Aroaces who experience nonsexual/nonromantic attraction may identity as oriented aroace or angled aroace, or may simply use another orientation label in addition to aromantic and asexual.

An individual who experiences tertiary attraction may use the term orientated to express it as their identity without necessarily using the split attraction model or another specific amative or affinitive orientation, as well as orientationless.

Specific orientation labels can be derived from each attraction type using any of the prefixes used for sexual or romantic attractions. For example, one may be bisensual, meaning they experience sensual attraction towards individuals of two or more genders.

Individuals who do not experience tertiary attraction may identify as atertiary or nontertiary. Aroace individuals who do not experience tertiary attraction may identify as electioaroace or anattractional.”

hi hi :) ! i was wondering if you knew of any label that is anattractional but includes aesthetic attraction? because i'm aspec in everything except aesthetic attraction and it's a mouthful to say every individual term that i am.

Oriented aroace and angled aroace (almost synonymous labels) are both used to mean someone who is aroace but experiences tertiary attraction which is an important part of their identity.

(Tertiary attraction = attraction that is not romantic attraction or sexual attraction.)

So for example someone who experiences no attraction except aesthetic attraction to every gender may ID as something like pan oriented aroace.

Otherwise you could try playing around with things until you figure out a way of expressing your identity that you like. So maybe something like aroace but aesthetic, or [x] aesthetic aroace may work for you too (x=whatever orientation you identify with for your aesthetic attraction). And I think would effectively communicate that the only attraction you are experiencing is aesthetic.

There aren't hard and fast rules for these types of labels, so it's mostly about what you like or what you feel suits you.
