hello! i feel like every time u post a new story i come on here in ur asks and tell u how much it made me cry and tore me to pieces but then put me back together lol and i was debating if i should comment this or send an ask bc of how much it impacted me so i decided to do both lol.

So. ur new story. it hit so close to home. it really did. i felt choked with emotions from the start, but when gale said “i don’t wanna go back” man that really really got to me. because that sentence had so much depth. It was so sincere, so raw and came from a place of genuine desperation. I felt for gale so deeply in that moment and that whole scene in John’s apartment. Going “back” could mean so many things. back to his own place or back to the sheer despair he was feeling leading up to when he called bucky or back to war or back to stalag or back to feeling miserable and scared and lonely and hopeless and it was just. both cathartic and heartbreaking. Not just saying it, but this sentence really touched my heart and genuinely did make me cry and release a lot of pent up and repressed emotions. when you feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself surviving a dark place (in this case for gale, the war and the night he almost ended things, being without bucky, etc,) there’s always that fear and dread of being forced to go back and have to do it all over again.

The way you had woven Gale’s guilt into different parts of the story was just so well done and so tragic. Your depiction hit me so hard bc i know it’s just exhausting to feel that guilt constantly even when you KNOW ppl want to help.

anyways. what else. heart completely shattered when John fell to his knees and clung to gale. i felt for him so so deeply. u wrote that part MASTERFULLY. ur writing is beautiful and poetic and deep and emotional and i enjoyed every single word. sorry for unloading this on u lol but i just wanted to say. thank u for this. ❤️

I’m so happy this resonated with you emotionally. Of course I wanted to pass my feels on to the readers, but to see it having such a big impact blows me away. I was actually more insecure about this one because I can’t hold a candle to some of the real powerhouse writers I love, but I do my best.
