Another tale of love between Ayrton and pasta, as told by Angelo Parrilla of karting company fame:

He arrived with a smile on his face and a phone call from his father, who anticipated a problem: "look, my son struggles a lot with food, please don't make him come back malnourished". Ayrton was tired from the trip and still carrying his luggage, so we decided to bring him with us to lunch, so that we could understand his issue. Next to our house there was a small tuscanian restaurant and the boy devoured a plate of spaghetti alla carbonara immediately, then a steak and a salad. He didn't drink wine nor did he smoke, so in the end I asked if he wanted a coffee. "No, but I'd rather have something else, if possible." "Sure, what would you like to order?" "Another plate of spaghetti alla carbonara!"

In the Italian spring of 1979, Ayrton wrote a letter to his former kart trainer and great friend, Lucio Pascual Gascón, known as "Tchê". In it, the teenage Ayrton shows his gratitude to his friend and his obsession with the technical details of the vehicle he drove. Ayrton was preparing himself for his second world kart championship, which he considered the most important moment of his life. In the letter to Tchê, Ayrton also refers to his great rival at the time, the englishman Terry Fullerton.

Translation of the letter:

Milan, September 16, 1979. My great friend Tchê,

As you see, time flies and I've been here for over half a month now with incredible anxiety because the most important moment of my life is approaching and you know how important it is.

You're someone who has an incredible responsibility in my life because while my father got me into the karting world, it was you who really put me on the right path, who taught me almost everything I know, who helped me and was there for me in every moment, the person who got me where I am and is most responsible for my successes. I can't express how grateful I am to you, but the truth is, you've earned a great affection and fondness from me because you're an extraordinary person to whom I'm very attached. You can believe in all of this because it's the most sincere thing I have to tell you, "espanholo".

Things are really heating up here because Fullerton is being very arrogant, and both Angelo and Aquilles are about to explode with the englishman, all because I've integrated very well with the Italians, and naturally, the englishman is biting himself with jealousy, but everything is fine with me.

After tomorrow (18), we will depart by plane for Estoril, Portugal, but the training sessions will only be on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the schedule and layout of everything being identical to last year. To give you a good idea of everything, just remember how it was all last year, as they practically copied the regulations from last year.

I attended three training sessions in Parma because the engines had a terrible problem with the rings, which were consuming themselves, and everything ended up being resolved by changing the crankshaft balancing, that is, aluminum was replaced by nylon like the Parilla from the past and also lightened that very strong connecting rod that you know. With this, the vibration of the engines decreased significantly and the problem of engine vibration was solved.

As for tires, some sets of special tires arrived from Bridgestone for each heat; regarding the chassis, it is the same model as last year with a few changes in the caster and wheelbase of 1m5cm, as Estoril seems to be very fast and, considering that the tires allow an even higher speed, it becomes necessary to increase the wheelbase. We are just a little confused with carburetors because that swiss who manufactures them is making a big mystery to sell us a few carburetors, which are of vital importance (you know well and I don't need to explain).

Well, I hope there have been news in the newspapers, try to buy O Estado de S. Paulo, as I am providing direct news by phone to this newspaper.

¿Cómo influye la cultura inmigratoria en nuestra comida diaria?

Argentina es un país en el cual, anualmente, llegan miles de inmigrantes por día, provenientes de distintas partes del mundo. A continuación, veremos como esas culturas diferentes a lo largo de la historia siguen vigentes en nuestra Gastronomía.

Las primeras corrientes migratorias llegaron desde Italia y España. Los italianos trajeron consigo las pastas, entre las cuales se destacaban spaghetti (espaguetis), alargados y con sección circular; los tallarines, similares a los espaguetis pero con sección rectangular o plana; capelli d' angelo (‘cabello de ángel’), muy delgado y de rápida cocción, este tipo de pastas las mezclaban con salsa de tomate. También, trajeron consigo la pizza. Sus primeros orígenes fueron en los años 1920s. La pizza era un alimento habitual en las festividades y ferias italianas de norteamérica. Su competencia con otras comidas étnicas era fuerte, pero fue tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial cuando empezó a popularizarse fuera de las colonias de inmigrantes italianos existentes en el mundo y en especial en Estados Unidos. Pronto se abrirían pizzerías con una nueva forma de entender los negocios de restauración: la franquicia. En Europa la propagación de la inmigración italiana subía por el norte hacia Alemania, esta inmigración hizo que se hiciera popular en este país la elaboración de pizzas, pero su evolución no fue tan significativa como en Estados Unidos.

Los soldados americanos acostumbrados a comer pizzas durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial hicieron que la demanda creciese en EE.UU, dónde se llegó a denominar en los primeros momentos como "tomato pie" (torta de tomate) al regresar tras la contienda, y esto hizo que la popularidad creciera a lo largo de los años 50s. Luego, este platillo fue teniendo distinto condimentos y formas de prepararse hasta la cantidad de pizzas que se solicitan hoy en día.

 Por el lado de los españoles, implementaron en nuestra cultura la paella y cazuela de marisco, la primera consiste en una variedad de pescados y marisco acompañados de salsa de tomate y arroz. Mientras que la segunda incluye una amplia variedad de mariscos, acompañado por ajo, cebolla y tomate.

 Luego, hubo una gran cantidad de inmigrantes provenientes de Alemania, en los cuales se destaca la variedad de pescados que trajeron como la trucha y el salmón como también el jamón ahumado. En esta gastronomía se destacan las famosas salchichas alemanas que a diferencia de las demás, es que la mayoría de ellas se elabora con carne de cerdo y están embutidas en tripa natural. Todas ellas se pueden freír en una sartén o asar en una parrilla.

Por el lado del Reino Unido llegó la “cómida rapida” como las hamburguesas, panchos y papas fritas, mientras que de la zona de Gales llegó la torta de cordero y torta galesa, muy populares en el sur de la Argentina.

En los últimos años, se produjo una fuerte inmigración de paises latinoamericanos hacia la Argentina, los caules también trajeron sus platillos tipicos como por ejemplo, el Chipa, de origen paraguayo. Es un panificado hecho a base de almidón de mandioca y queso duro, más otros ingredientes. Es herencia de la cocina de origen guaraní-español jesuita, y es tradicional de la gastronomía del Paraguay y del Noreste argentino. También se consume normalmente en el suroeste brasileño (zona también de misiones jesuíticas-guaraníes), donde también se lo llama pão de queijo (‘pan de queso’).

Proveniente de Perú llegó la salchipapa, una comida rápida consumida normalmente como comida callejera en distintos países de Hispanoamérica. Consiste en rodajas fritas de salchicha y papas fritas, acompañadas de diferentes salsas, como ketchup, mostaza, crema de aceituna y de ají. A veces se le agrega encima un huevo frito o una rebanada de queso edam derretido; también suele acompañarse con tomate y lechuga, o una ensalada de col, y ocasionalmente se adereza con orégano.

Para concluir, el último pais que influyo su gastronomia en la nuestra fue Venezuela con la arepa, el cual esta hecho a base de masa de maíz seco molido o de harina de maíz precocida, de forma circular y aplanada.

Will we see any more Wizard of Oz-inspired storylines on Once Upon a Time this season? —Angelo Episode 18 is one to watch for, Angelo. “What I love about my episode — besides the fact that they’re ‘my episodes’ — is that they are like little mini Wizard of Oz movies,” a beaming Rebecca Mader told me on set last week. “The Wizard of Oz fans should be really happy, because we introduce the Tin Man for the first time (played recent Flash guest star Alex Desert), we get monkeys, and we’ll meet the [Cowardly] Lion as well. It’s a really, really cool episode for my character.” (Bex then sneaked me a peek of her solo from the musical episode, and it looks wonderfully wicked.)

Arriva la sentenza del processo con rito abbeviato: 66 condanne a 605 anni di reclusione. Tutti i nomi dei condannati del processo Stige. Il GUP del tribunale di Catanzaro Giacinta Santaniello ha inflitto 605 anni di carcere agli indagati del processo Stige che hanno scelto il rito abbreviato. Nella sentenza si trovano 66 condanne e 37 assoluzioni. Il processo Stige è scaturito dall'omonima inchiesta condotta dalla Procura distrettuale Antimafia di Catanzaro che nel gennaio 2018 decapitò la potente cosca dei Farao-Marincola di Cirò con una spettacolare maxi operazione.
