ONE OF THE HISTORICAL PLACE IN ANGELES CITY PAMPANGA

Museo Ning Angeles (Museum of Angeles), is located at the Sto. Rosario Historic District, right beside the Barangay Hall, and across the 140-year old Holy Rosary Parish Church in Philippines. The museum was built in 1922 as a Municipio del Pueblo (Town Hall) of Angeles City. It was only in 1998 that the town hall was moved to its present location. The museum houses its main exhibit on the first floor featuring the evolution and history of the city and its people. It also showcases Angeles City’s pre-colonial inhabitants and migrants, founding foreparents, and its famous historical personalities. On the second floor, a culinary feast exhibit is presented showcasing the city’s– and the Pampanga province’s– love and expertise in food. Culinary tools and dioramas fill the floor. Pampanga is famous for its signature dishes such as, batute tugak (“stuffed frogs”), camaru (“mole crickets”), and sisig (combination of pig brains and chicken liver). On special occasions, the kitchen is open and authentic dishes can also be ordered on the site. Museo Ning Angeles is currently being managed by Kuliat Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization “whose absolute purpose is to preserve the history, culture, and traditions of Angeles City through the development and promotion of historical, cultural, educational, environmental, social and economic plans, programs and projects.”

Sandbox to the Max

May mga pangyayari sa buhay na minsan ay pinanghihinayangan natin dahil hindi ayon sa gusto nating mangyari. But as the saying goes, everything has a purpose. Kaya hindi natuloy because there is something na mas okay pa kaysa sa ine-expect natin. At sa huli masasabi nating “buti na lang”.

Ganito ang nangyari sa Sandbox trip namin nitong nakaraang Ninoy Aquino Day. Sandbox is a new adventure park in Alviera, Porac, Pampanga.

Tumawag kami sa Sandbox a week before our target date and sabi nila 10am sila magbubukas instead of the regular 9am and no ticket reservation dahil holiday. Kaya nagkita-kita kami ng 7am sa Ortigas para may time pa mag-breakfast sa isa sa NLEX stopovers at makarating sa Sandbox ng 10am. Originally, dalawang kotse sana ang gagamitin namin para hindi siksikan dahil siyam kami sa barkada. Pero we ended up with one big car na lang which is actually better dahil mas masaya naman talagang bumiyahe nang magkakasama. Buti na lang.

Pagdating namin sa Sandbox ng 1020am, sobrang dami na ng tao. Sabi sa front desk nag-open pa rin sila ng 9am. Almost all rides are sold-out kaya medyo hassle. Pero tinuloy pa rin namin dahil sayang ang pagpunta at andun na rin naman kami. Kahit gusto namin i-try yung Aerial Walk at Roller Coaster Zipline, Giant Swing at Free Fall na lang ang available. At dahil maraming tao, mahaba rin ang pila. Mas matagal pa nga yung pila kaysa sa mismong activity. Naisip naming hatiin ang grupo at pumila sa Giant Swing at Free Fall nang sabay kaya naka-save din kami ng time. Buti na lang.

Natapos kami ng 1pm. At dahil pare-pareho na kaming gutom, we decided to leave and went food tripping. Nag-lunch kami sa Binulo, isang kilalang Kapampangan resto sa may Clark. May rotating brownout pagdating namin kaya sa labas kami pumwesto. Masarap yung pagkain, medyo mahal nga lang. Masarap yung Kare-kare, Pork Bulanglang at Kalderetang Kambing. At habang kumakain, naisip namin na okay na rin pala na dalawang rides lang ang sinubukan namin dahil kung kinuha namin yung package na kasama lahat ng activities, aabutin kami ng hanggang 5pm dahil sa dami ng tao. Buti na lang.

Sunod naming dinayo ang Cioccolo para mag-kape at mag-dessert. Medyo naligaw pa kami dahil sa isang subdivision kami dinala ng digital map. Dumating kami sa Cioccolo, na nasa loob ng Royal Garden Estate, ng mga 330pm pero sarado ang cafe. 5pm pa daw sila magbubukas dahil holiday. Nagkataon naman na kakilala ng kaibigan namin yung may-ari ng Royal Garden Estate at sakto nandun si Sir Froi kaya pinabukas niya ang Cioccolo at pinayagan kaming kumain kahit wala pang 5pm. Buti na lang.

Masasarap lahat ng desserts sa Cioccolo. Umorder kami ng best-seller nilang Ferrero Cake plus Brazo de Mercedes Cheesecake, Green Tea Ferrero Cake at Pistachio Sans Rival. Pero biglang may dumating na iba pang cakes tulad ng Red Velvet, Creme Brulee Cheesecake at Pecan Cheesecake plus Quesadillas and Chips & Dips courtesy of Sir Froi! Sobrang bait niya. Buti na lang.

We stayed at Cioccolo until 5pm. At kahit gusto pa naming mag-stay dahil sa ganda ng Royal Garden Estate at Cioccolo Cafe, we decided to leave para hindi kami abutan ng dilim since hindi rin namin kabisado yung daan. Pag-alis namin sakto namang bumuhos ang sobrang lakas na ulan. Maliwanag pa sa kalsada kaya kahit almost zero visibility, nakabiyahe pa rin kami nang matiwasay. Tumila ang ulan sa SCTEX at tuloy-tuloy na hanggang Manila. Buti na lang.

Kahit na pagod sa biyahe, sunog sa araw at inulan sa daan, umuwi ang lahat na masaya dahil sa awesome Pampanga adventure ng barkada. Buti na lang.
