Chapter 5 : listen to me

The lullaby of the goddess is heard every day in the ears of the devil who captured her. This song, like a mother's lullaby, takes him on painful memories. The lullaby of the night goddess can be heard along with the breeze in the Mukami mansion. Moonlight again gives its light to the beautiful goddess and she walks in the mansion like a holy angel and whispers her lullaby.

In the past, no one noticed Yui Komori's lullaby. But now someone is secretly listening to this lullaby. Hiding in the shadows of his room, Ruki watches the blonde girl walk in the yard, caressing the flowers and humming her lullaby with her voice like the angels of heaven.

Yui: The flowers of Mukami mansion are as beautiful as the flowers of Sakamaki mansion. Maybe even more beautiful. Yui continues to sing a lullaby. Without knowing, someone is hiding behind the door of her room. He leans against the wall and listens to the blonde girl's lullaby. There is something in this lullaby that soothes his heart. Ruki doesn't know why but he is captivated by Yui's lullaby. He wants to listen to this lullaby every night. The devil who was imprisoned in the heart of darkness wants to be freed from the dark heart and join his beautiful angel in the sky.

Ruki: This is ridiculous.

_Ruki goes to his bed and sits on the bed.

_Ruki holds his head in his hands and stares at the ground.

_Ruki gets up from the bed and moves towards the window of his room. The window of Ruki's room is open and the breeze moves Ruki's hair.

_Ruki looks at his hand and fists it hard.

_Ruki slowly lays down on his bed and drifts off to a sweet sleep thinking about his angel's lullaby. This lullaby is very familiar to him. Remembering a beautiful and painful life. A reminder of a memory that captured him in a dark heart.

The happily ever after is disturbed when their love is pitted against the entire kingdom as Diavolo's ambitions take them through the infernal legal system. Lucifer, respected and high-ranking though he is, is targeted by dissidents in the shadow legal assembly for being a fallen angel. Diavolo, under the dark legacy of his father and kings before him, must prove himself and win back his kingdom and the right to Lucifer's love. Will he succeed or will he be overthrown and relegated to a figurehead?

In a Hadith found in Sahih Muslim, number 265, the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, warned that a person who possesses even an atom’s worth of pride in their heart will not enter Paradise. He clarified that pride is when a person rejects the truth and looks down on others.

 No amount of good deeds will benefit someone who possesses pride. This is quite obvious when one observes the Devil and how his countless years of worship did not benefit him when he became proud. In fact, the following verse clearly connects pride with disbelief so a muslim must avoid this evil characteristic at all costs. Chapter 2 Al Baqarah, verse 34:

  “And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant and became of the disbelievers.”

  The proud is the one who rejects the truth when it is presented to them simply because it did not come from them and as it challenges their desires and mentality. The proud person also believes they are superior to others even though they are unaware of their own ultimate end and the ultimate end of others. This is plain ignorance. In reality, it is foolish to be proud of anything seeing as Allah, the Exalted, created and granted everything a person owns. Even the righteous deeds one performs is only due to the inspiration, knowledge and strength granted by Allah, the Exalted. Therefore, being proud of something which does not innately belong to them is plain foolishness. This is just like a person who becomes proud over a mansion they do not even own or live in.

  This is the reason why pride belongs to Allah, the Exalted, as He alone is the Creator and innate Owner of all things. The one who challenges Allah, the Exalted, in pride will be thrown into Hell. This has been confirmed in a Hadith found in Sunan Abu Dawud, number 4090.

  A muslim should instead follow in the footsteps of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and adopt humility. The humble truly recognise that all the good their possess and all the evil they are protected from comes from no one except Allah, the Exalted. Therefore, humility is more fitting for a person than pride. A person should not be fooled into believing humility leads to disgrace as no one has been more honoured than the humble servants of Allah, the Exalted. In fact, the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, has guaranteed an increase in status for the one who adopts humility for the sake of Allah, the Exalted, in a Hadith found in Jami At Tirmidhi, number 2029.

So imagine that but with little Sammy Winchester. 

Like, he spouts weird shit about the devil and when he’s particularly invested in a book at the library sometimes you’ll see the other books hovering just slightly off the tables and shelves (but they can’t really be floating) and if some kid is bullying another he’ll stare real long and hard and a few days later you’ll hear “did you hear about poor Tommy? Zombie AU

A Reverse Batfamily Fic

Summary: An AU of my AU. Zombies.

Dick held onto the back of Damian’s shirt tightly. He wanted to hold Damian’s hand, but the older man needed both hands for using weapons in case they ran into any monsters (and Dick didn’t just mean zombies. Humans could be just as bad, as he had unfortunately learned).

“Dami?” Dick whispered and tugged on Damian’s shirt. “‘M tired.”

Damian peered down at Dick, who stared up at him with watery eyes. Damian had been keeping them going all day, believing that staying on the move would be their best bet at staying alive.

After all, they had both learned the hard way that nowhere would be safe forever.

Damian sighed and looked around. He refused to go anywhere near the big cities, knowing that they would be swarming with the undead. The woods were okay to walk in during the day. It was great cover from human enemies, and they could climb trees and sleep in them for the night if need be. However, the woods did not hold the supplies they needed, and he knew that Richard did not like sleeping in a tree for more than one night. The duo tended to travel at the edge of the woods, making stops in small towns for supplies and a bed. 

Damian took a look at the map and looked at Dick. “The next town is about fifteen minutes away. Can you make it that far?”

Dick hesitated for a moment before nodding. They continued on—Damian striding forward confidently while Dick peered around fearfully. Dick didn’t like showing fear. Watching Bruce and his siblings, as well as fighting villains as Robin, had taught him not to. But then the zombies came, and that had changed things. Dick peered up at Damian before lowering his eyes, guilt churning in his chest.

Everything was different now, and it was all his fault.

can you make a reverse batfam fic where dick and steph are bonding and she’s the best big sister ever?

Dick had days where he spent all day with one sibling (or two, in the case of Jason, as Tim was always there to chaperone, so their days were combined into one). Dick’s day with Cass was quiet. His day with Tim and Jason was chaotic.

His day with Stephanie was just fun.

Stephanie and him were the brightest and chattiest of the family—to put it in a few terms. On days it was just the two of them, they spent their time doing all the fun things the rest of the family either never wanted to do or would break out into a fight if they did participate.

Today, Stephanie was taking him bowling.

Normally, this would be a fun activity for the whole family, but Steph and him took this time to goof off and try to make the most ridiculous bowl, which would have annoyed at least Jason, who was very impatient for his turn, and Damian, who took competitive activities like this seriously.

Afterword whatever activity they had decided to do that day, they would go for ice cream, where they would get the craziest combination of toppings they could think of. Their bowls would be spilling toppings as they made their way to a table, and if Bruce could see their monstrosities he would lecture them for days. Stephanie and Dick didn’t care. Bruce just liked to suck the fun out of things, as Stephanie always said. Besides, Stephanie was 18 and, according to her, that meant she could do whatever she wanted.

Dick couldn’t wait to be 18.

On this particular day, as Dick shoveled his sugar bomb concoction into his mouth and laughed at Stephanie’s antics, he couldn’t help but compare himself to Stephanie. Of everyone in the Manor, Dick believed that he and Stephanie were the most similar. They were the most expressive, the bubbliest, and the most fun. Jason was cool, and their closeness in age made similarities between them easier to find, but Jason was pretty different too. He liked to read books, and sometimes he thought he was too old to play (which he totally wasn’t because Stephanie and Tim and Cass played with him all the time). Tim told him Jason was just going through a phase where he was trying to act older. 

Dick thought that was stupid.

Dick loved all of his siblings equally, but he really cherished the days where it was just him and Stephanie. He liked his quiet days with Cass and Damian. He liked his chaotic days with Jason and Tim. The fun days with Stephanie, however, were the easiest. He didn’t have to pull emotions out of her. He didn’t have to ask for affection for she easily gave it of her own accord. She talked just as much as he did, so he didn’t have to worry that he was annoying her or if she was actually listening, which he still did occasionally. The fear of being kicked out or thrown back into juvie had never truly left him, and sometimes he still worried of pushing too far, especially with Bruce and Damian, the latter’s temper often being thin.

“Hey,” Stephanie’s chipper voice interrupted his thoughts, “you wanna go to the arcade after this? I’m building up tickets to get that giant Spoiler plushie.”

Dick grinned. “Yeah! You think they’re gonna have Robin stuff soon? That would be cool!”

Stephanie laughed and stood, ruffling Dick’s hand with one hand while she gathered their trash with the other. “Maybe! That would be fun. Then we can complete our collection!”

After throwing out their trash, Stephanie let Dick climb onto her back and carried him to the arcade a few blocks over. They spent a few hours there, Dick cheering Stephanie on as she scored perfectly in ski ball and basketball. They were pretty evenly matched at Dance Dance Revolution and air hockey, but Dick totally kicked her ass at one of the racing games, which how?

(Answer: Tim often took Jason and him to the arcade to burn off energy, so Dick had a lot of hours logged.)

When it got close to dinner time, Dick and Stephanie went over to the ticket counter. Dick graciously gave her some of his tickets to put her over the amount needed to get the Spoiler plushie and used the rest to get himself some cheaper Batman- and Shadowbat-themed toys and stickers. Stephanie gave him a big kiss on the cheek as a thank you. They left, waiting outside the arcade for Alfred to pick them up after Stephanie texted him their location.

“This was fun,” Stephanie said, grinning down at Dick as she hefted the giant plushie higher in her arms.

“Lots of fun!” Dick replied, beaming back. “You’re definitely the funnest!”

Stephanie laughed and wrapped an arm around Dick. As he snuggled into her side, eyelids drooping in contentment, he couldn’t help but recall his thoughts from earlier.

Dick loved all of his siblings equally, but Dick thought Stephanie was the only one who truly understood him.

Summary: Dan had a surprise for you & you were more than thankful for it. But all good things came to an end. Though, you did not think it would be so soon. The inevitable was happening & this time, you had to deal with it all alone.

The following days, you noticed Dan distancing himself from you. You did not accompany him to the precinct anymore. Pretty much all you did was sitting in Trixie’s room, contemplating what you did wrong to make Dan act that way. What you did not know, though, was that he was not even realizing that he did not pay that much attention to you anymore. His work was taking all his focus away from you. Finding jobs was a pain in the ass, by the way. It was impossible. They all wanted to know where you were coming from, what you were good at & so on. What were you good at? In heaven, there was not anything you could do. God made sure of that. Oh, you were good at playing board games but apparently that was not what people were looking for on Earth nowadays.

Dan had given you one of his old phones & his old laptop so you could look for jobs & write job applications while he was at work. These devices confused you at first, but soon you got the hang of it & you wondered why you had never had something similar in heaven. Your lonely days would have been filled with more interesting hours.

A ringing sound interrupted your research on your laptop. Looking around, you found your phone being the source of the noise. Grabbing it, you saw Dan’s name on screen. Huh...He had never called you when he was at work. Swiping your finger over the display, you greeted him right after raising the phone to your ear.

“Hey, Dan.”

“(Y/N)! Have you been successful with your job searching yet?”

“Nope.” sighing frustratingly. “Most of them say I’m too inexperienced.” you breathed out. It was not necessarily fair. After all, you did have experience in other stuff. Stuff people could only dream about. Not that you were planning on telling anyone, but still.

“Perfect.” Dan’s excitement could be heard through the phone. Cool, he was happy that you were unsuccessful. Just peachy.

“Rude.” if he were here with you right now, your look would kill him.

“No, no, wait. I didn’t mean it like that.” he stammered. “I asked the Lieutenant & he said if you’re interested you could be my personal assistant.” Dan finished & waited for your respone.

“You need a personal assistant?” a short laugh escaped you. He joined you in briefly before answering.

“I don’t but you need the money.” Dan reasoned. Well, you could not argue with him, he had a point.

“Fair enough.”

“We’ll talk later today when I come home, alright?” you nodded but he obviously could not see it. Bidding your goodbyes, you ended the phone call. Maybe Dan was not distant. Maybe he was just trying to get you a job.

It was still early afternoon so you had some time to kill. Residing in a kid’s bedroom when you, yourself, were (Y/A) years old was not necessarily convenient. Browsing the entire house would be rude, right? Well, you could take a shower. If you were to start your new job tomorrow, at least that was what you hoped, you could make sure your appearance was on point.

Walking into the bathroom, you locked the door after you. Maybe you were growing paranoid, you were alone after all. Better safe than sorry, though. After ridding yourself of your clothes, you could feel a bad migraine coming. Oh no. No, no, no. Shit, you had not thought of this. There was a difference between migraines & simple headaches. Headaches, you could deal with. Migraines, on the other hand…well, you could not. Not alone at least. The pain felt similar to someone wanting to crush in your skull. The worst part of it was that you knew this pain was nothing compared to what you were about to eperience. Your hands held your head tightly, trying to avoid the inevitable. The bathroom was big enough, you would not damage anything. Good, so Dan would most likely not find out. You wanted to keep it that way.

A loud scream echoed through the room & you were surprised that your voice could reach this volume. Hopefully, it was not that loud to grab the neighbors’ attention. A look in the mirror gave away what you were expecting. Golden wings were surrounding you. All the years in heaven had taught you to hate your wings. Yours were different. Not black like the ones from the other angels. And definitely not soft. No, yours were sharp. So sharp, they cut open your back each time you were showing them. Hence why you had tried controlling to keep them hidden. Sometimes, little things triggered you & you had to let them show, as much as you hated it. You could feel liquid running down your back & the cuts that the wings caused burned a lot. Tears were streaming down your face. It had not happened in so long, you were confused why it was happening now. Taking a deep breath, you closed your eyes & focused solely on your wings. Needing to retract your wings, you braced yourself for another wave of pain. This time, you only let out a wince. Shit, usually Michael, sometimes even Gabriel, helped cleaning & bandaging your wounds. But they were not here. And you had never done it yourself. Trying to get a look at your back through the mirror, you were shocked to say the least. It looked bad. Really bad. The cuts seemed deeper than usual. You hated looking at them. You hated the old, faded scars adorning your back even more, though.

Still, you decided to step into the shower. The warm water reached your wounds & you winced at the burning sensation. You had to think of a way to treat the cuts somehow. If you did not, Dan might find out & then it would lead to questions you were not ready to answer. Could not answer, actually. Because he would send you to an institution for lunatics. It was times like this when you wished Michael was here. Just for a while, so he could help you out.

When you finished your shower, you did not wrap a towel around your body. You would not risk getting blood on one of Dan’s towels. Rummaging through the cabinets, you were more than happy when you found what looked like a first aid kit. Trying to mimic what Mike had done many times, you began treating your wounds accordingly. It was a pain in the ass, though. Your arms were not long enough to reach every single cut but you did your best. It took you almost an hour & a lot of frustration but your back was cleaned & bandaged. You wondered if Michael would be proud of your work…

Chloe had brought you some of her old clothes over so you did not have to spend money on new ones. Pulling on something comfortable that you had brought with you in the bathroom, you looked yourself over once again. The shower managed to calm you down a bit & you were surprised when you found your eyes neither red nor puffy.

After spending way too much time in the bathroom, you were shocked when you still had some time left before Dan would be home. Grabbing your laptop, you sat down on the couch in the living room, trying so your back would not touch anything. It still hurt a lot. It usually did even days after such an incident. So once again, you had to play pretend in front of Dan. You were getting quite good at that, if you were honest. Before Dan came home, you could browse the internet for a while. What else would you be doing?

Your eyes shot towards the front door when you heard keys unlocking it. Sweet, Dan was home. Now you could talk about your job, if you could call it that.

“(Y/N)? I’m home.”

“Hi Dan.” smiling sweetly at him from where you were sitting.

“Exciting day?” he asked after pulling off his jacket & shoes. You gulped at that.

“Same old.” chuckling to hide how uncomfortable you were. “You?” oh, nice. You pulled a uno reverse card. Mentally, you were patting your own shoulder for coming up with that. It was better to shift the attention to Dan.

“Well, I got you a job which is pretty damn cool of me, might I add.” the both of you laughed at that. That was feeding his ego for sure. “But besides that, it was rather quiet at the precinct.” you nodded at him.

“Oh & Amenadiel is coming over in a bit. He needs help with his baby.” Dan walked into the kitchen, grabbing ingredients for a fast meal he could cook for you & his friend who would pay him a visit.

“Amenadiel? What’s up with the names around here?” you asked, laughing at how weird people from LA were. You joined Dan in the kitchen & asked him if he needed any help. He gave you a task & immediately, you got to work.

Working on a meal together was faster than you thought & after you set the table, there was a knock on the door.

“I got it.” yelling at Dan who was changing in his room because he did not want to stay in his work clothes any longer. Opening the door, your eyes firstly fell to a baby sitting in a man’s arm. Then your eyes wandered up & you gave the stranger a welcoming smile. This had to be Amenadiel.

“Hi! Come in, Dan should be ready in a few.” you motioned for him to step inside but your smile slowly faltered when you noticed the look on his face. You could not quite pinpoint it but it sure left you uneasy.

“Hello.” his monotone voice was heard after a few moments of silence.

“Right, um, I guess you know your way inside.” you coughed & walked away quickly, trying to avoid more awkward conversations with this man. There was something about him…He stood in the doorway for a few seconds & watched you walk away. You were different. He did not know how but you were. And you were in Dan’s house. What were you doing here?
