When I was a little kid, one my favorite movies was Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. Through another video, I learned it was kind of a longtime dream in the 1980s Japan to adapt it to film that there were several pilots for it.

This youtube video has three in it.

The first is from 1980 & directed by Sadao Tsukioka and is probably the closest to the original comic strip. It has a daydream quality and I love the music.

The second is from 1984 and is joint between Andy Gaskill & Yoshifumi Kondo. This one is my FAVORITE and the reason why I'm making this post. If you don't see any of the others, please try to see this. It made me tear up. Timestamp is 8:15

The third is from 1987 and is directed by the late Osamu Dezaki who also directed things like the Black Jack OAVs, Dear Brother, Ashita no Joe, etc. So, I was verrry curious to see his take on it. It's very beautiful and wonderful to look at. I think it showcases his talent for visual spectacle. (EDIT: Also Mobius did the conceptual designs for this!!!)

How did Treasure Planet manage to come up with the greatest aesthetic in all human history?
