4. Children of the Machine — CG5, Dagames

Ohhh I'm so so so excited to finally share my thoughts about this song!! I've been drawing and redrawing scenes and images I associate with Children of the Machine for... well over a year now, because some of these (the last one, especially) are images I had actually planned to post for last year's Spotify wrapped. The more the story developed over the past year, the more I imagined, and I think I'm finally really happy with my portrayal of these events from Xisuma and Doc's perspectives.

I always imagined this song as the opener to dbhc!Xisuma's Season 9 arc, but it’s also a great follow-up to Don’t Let It Reach the Heart, since it gives us a little more context about Xisuma’s state of mind going into a new season (given everything that happened in Season 8) and throughout the events of Destruction. I also loved the idea that the voice who sings the second verse and the bridge belongs to Doc, reflecting on Xisuma's struggles from the secondhand perspective of someone who is still slowly, painfully putting the pieces together.

i was WRONG. calling cazador bargain big dracula is an insult to dracula, not cazador. DRACULA’S spawn don’t do shit. NO help from his roommates. when DRACULA’S Big Evil Plan fails because it is stupid and bad, dracula has the spine to STEAL a WOLF from the ZOO for HIMSELF. would CAZADOR steal a wolf from the zoo for himself? no. cazador has the willpower of a singular overcooked spaghetti and is too much of a little bitch to just try looking stupid. cazador doesn’t have the GUMPTION to be completely cringefail and bad at being a powerful immortal vampire on main and if he DID then he wouldn’t HAVE TO MAKE HIS SPAWN DO EVERYTHING FOR HIM LIKE A LAZY COWARD. DRACULA is cringefail with his entire CHEST. dracula did NOTHING right but he did Everything Around Here Wrong His Goddamn Self. cazador could never, because cazador, like every rich idiot ever, has never even Considered a hard day’s work once in his life. cazador could never cringfail his way through his evil world domination plan with a fraction of the sheer idiotic commitment to the bit that dracula did. DRACULA is a FAILURE ON MAIN and CAZADOR is A SPINELESS BASTARD.

he isn’t even an IMPORTANT noble. DRACULA led armies. CAZADOR couldn’t even get invited to one (1) coronation. i’m sorry dracula for insulting you, i WILL do it again but never like THIS.

I mean, with a few adjustments to her programming and structure, the Engineer can definitely give her a lactation feature! If the Engineer is ever feeling restless and needs a quick break from her work, she’ll just spin around, ask Himeko to peel down her dress, and then latch her lips onto her boobs and suckle the milk right out.

It certainly helps to de-stress after a particularly hard day of fixing. Himeko certainly enjoys it <3

After a brief slumber in the neutrocasket, our brand-new android is pumped full of neutroamine and ready to join our colony at last!!

He will henceforth be called Alistair, which means "defender of mankind". Alistair is programmed with a level 12 melee ability, which is a skill we're actually lacking a lot in our colony. Hopefully, he will be a very good defender of our two mechanitors and Ivy—if they ever allow him anywhere near combat. They'll probably be quite precious with him for a long time yet.

The Jones boys were quick to make some fresh clothes for Alistair, and even gave him a hat because I was so caught up in the excitement of making things for a cool new colonist that I forgot I'd have to draw it.

alternate universe trigun where both Vash and Knives are androids. hear me out.

so in this universe plants are much less humanoid. in fact they look more like big floating brains, and the plant scientists are just starting to figure out that they have some capacity for thinking.

then one day, a plant starts producing these two strange growths. there's lots of theories, that they're tumors or a defense mechanism. only a few think maybe its reproducing.

the growths are independents. they separate and demonstrate much more neurological activity than regular plants.

somewhere along the way, someone has the bright idea to try and read the electrical impulses, then connect them to something the plant can control.

many years later, and they've made humanoid bodies to connect to the plants. Vash and Knives open mechanical eyes for the first time, and are effectively born.

With Rem as the head researcher, this team of plant scientists are determined to understand plant behavior through this new medium. what fascinates and frightens them is that Vash and Knives are extremely human-like. which means the organic generators they have been using might also be able to think and feel with the same familiarity that the twins do.

Basically the plot of trigun happens but with androids this time.
