Welcome to the 2024 Supernatural Hag Tournament!
What is this tournament?
This tournament is to determine which woman in the CW's Supernatural (2005-2020) best performed the role of "hag", as defined below with the help of Urban Dictionary and Glee (2009-2015):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why isn't (x) here?
I have chosen these characters because they have fulfilled three categories: She is a) a Supernatural character, she is b) a woman, and she c) has attempted to hit on/get with an arguably gay guy.
But then, why is Dagon here?
Dagon fulfills a subset of hag: the reverse-hag, who attempts to get with a straight woman rather than a gay man. I feel her relationship to Kelly fulfills this unique niche. I will not be arguing about it. Argue with your vote!
Isn't hag an offensive term?
The writers call women much worse within the the show. This is a celebration of these characters as well as the act of hagging itself. We ❤️ hags here.
Is propaganda allowed?
Yes, I will also reblog all propaganda as long as it's appropriate/does not break My personal terms of service. Just don't be gross.
Is voter fraud allowed?
It's not that deep, it's a Tumblr poll. So just don't let me find out about it.
When can I begin?
The Supernatural Hag Tournament will begin at 12 AM, Mountain Time (US) on September 13 (Supernatural Day!). Each round will last a week.
Contestants in the competition are below, and the photo will be updated as each round of the tournament ends:
Tumblr media
Competitors (top to bottom, left to right)
Side A:
Tessa (the Reaper) vs Meg Masters
April (also the Reaper) vs Lilith (from Season 15 specifically)
Daphne Allen vs Cassie Robinson
Jo Harvelle vs Dagon
Side B:
Lisa Braeden vs Karen Singer
Kelly Kline vs Andrea Kormos
Hannah vs Harper Sayles
Amara vs Anna Milton
Happy Hagging!

Match Review: Manchester United 1-0 Fulham
A late Zirkzee finish in front of the Stretford End gives United an opening three points against a tough Fulham side.
Tumblr media
I had written a lovely, long review about the game. Then my postcode had two powercuts and my motivation took a beating. We go again.
United looked a lot better than last season. We lack that cutting edge at present, but you can hone a team with time. United have an injured Hojlund and a slightly unfit Zirkzee. Playing a false 9 for most of the game saw United miss chance after chance without a focal point. Future games will be better - with or without the striker options.
Tumblr media
The biggest positive was United at the back: Mazraoui looks GOOD. Like, Dalot should be worried about his spot good AND with only a few days to train with the squad and attempt to gel.
The upside is LB is fucked with Shaw/Malacia, so Dalot as an inverted playmaker LB could work... but I don't like him there as much as RB. Still, solid from him today. Great from Martinez, Maguire and Maz.
Tumblr media
United as a whole were better defensively too; pressing was as a team unit, ala Klopp's Liverpool last season. The effort didn't feel wasted or disjointed. Fulham managed just 10 shots, and only 2 on target - figures we could only DREAM of last season.
That said, Fulham weren't shoddy either. Smith Rowe seems to have settled in immediately, Muniz played the target man role well, and Antonee Robinson looked really nice at LB. Potential summer '25 signing levels of nice (though he does turn 28 next August).
Tumblr media
There are three issues remaining for me at present:
Casemiro lacks positional discipline to be a 6. We need Ugarte or similar.
Rashford lacks confidence. He should have been greedy and finished that chance at the end, not offload it to Garnacho. It wasn't selfless, it was scared.
We're way better with actual strikers than doing the false 9 schtick.
Tumblr media
That said, given the wonky season last year, this was markedly better. Non-United fans were calling it boring, but it's not an easy game agaisnt Marco Silva's sides. He's a good coach, drills teams well, and Fulham will be firmly mid-table this year, if not maybe higher. Rashford with confidence finishes that late chance. That's 2-0. Bruno and Casemiro each came close, there's 3 or 4 nil. Maybe with confidence Rashford forces something else to happen, opens a gap for other players... these things matter.
Tumblr media
A winning start to the season is a good start, and it quietens the doubters. We have to of course keep winning and keep performing, but form and fitness both come with time, and if today's performance is anything to go by we're only a few little improvements off being a genuine force and back to Top 4 levels.
Shoutout to Mazraoui, Maguire, Licha, and Bruno today. Four big shifts that kept United in control of the match. Keep it up.
To finish, enjoy this little post-match interview from Lissandro (ft. Jamie 'He's too small' Carragher)🔥

I've seen fanarts of Tommy x Claude, Claude x 8-Ball, CJ x Woozie, Tommy x Ken Rosenberg, CJ x Ryder, and so on, but no fanarts of Claude x CJ

Performance Stats: 2022 (mainland edition)
Alright, it’s (no longer) that time of year again! Summary of all 2022 calendar year performances stats!! - This was a CRAZY year full of cross-production covers + emergency cover chaos so very fun to write up. It also made it a bit of a challenge with organization. If an actor was primarily with one production but served as an emergency cover for another, I listed them with their primary or initial production. - Yearly disclaimer that some errors and/or disparities could exist. - And as always, if you repost/use these stats anywhere, please credit me @sixcostumerefs (or six.costume.refs on Insta) And as always....a shoutout to Dionne Ward-Anderson, who featured in the largest number of performances this year, at a whopping 353 shows! Review of Birthday Stories Selected and Introduced by Haruki Murakami
Oh this one was so interesting. It’s a connection of stories centering or touching on the topic of birthdays. Murakami compiled this anthology and added a short story to accompany it, along with his introduction. The stories were excellent, and each had their own merits and revealed things about their cultural contexts and experiences, which I always find fascinating. I think the thing I want to focus on, though, in this little writing exercise that I catapult into the void, is Murakami’s introduction.
First, the topic of birthdays. What a whimsical little topic to pick. What a silly thing to write about. In some of these stories, the birthday is obviously central. In others, it is merely noted- all of the events would’ve unfolded anyway- but it changes the lens through which we read the story. We can assign such high expectations to this day- our birthday, our parent’s birthday, our partner’s birthday. I, for one, love birthdays! I think it’s a wonderful excuse to celebrate yourself and the people that you love. But we put so much pressure on it. Many of these writers go dark with the birthday stories- birthday strife, birthday tragedy, birthday awkwardness. And it’s so easy to do so: we are supposed to be at such a high, it is incredibly easy to be brought down low, to feel that tension that makes a story a story. We can discuss to what extent the “perfect” birthday is even a myth. Are these sad birthday stories the closest we will get to reality?
The second thing that really struck me was Murakami’s first person writing style in the introduction and this blurbs about the authors. I thought it was so cute and comical. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It strayed far from his usual third person mystical narratives that are a sign of his almost autor nature of writing. It also was jarring then, when I read his story, that I was immediately thrust back into that world of immateriality and surrealism. His ability to shift between the conversational and simple writing to heavily artistic and philosophical writing was interesting to witness within the same 200 pages.
The last thing was just a little point of order that I found to be interesting. He published this book both in Japanese and in English, where he says he did most of the translating work himself into Japanese from the original English of many of the short stories. This surprised me when I read it because I didn’t know he did translations. Most of the work of his that i’ve read has been translated by someone else. What surprised me even more was that when it came time for his story, he wasn’t the one that did the translation from Japanese to English. That boggles my mind a little bit. If you have translator capabilities, wouldn’t you be the most capable one to translate your own work. He would be the one most able to retain the intention and mood behind every sentence. That was just odd to me.
