1-«DAI MILITARI E DA PARIGI CI FU SCARSA COLLABORAZIONE SUL MISSILE MANCA LA PROVA»

Estratto dell’articolo di Giovanni Bianconi per il “Corriere della Sera”

«La nostra indagine concluse che un velivolo attraversò trasversalmente la rotta del Dc9 precipitato nel mare di Ustica negli istanti immediatamente successivi alla perdita dell’aereo, rilevata dai plot di ritorno sul radar di Ciampino, che era al punto limite della propria visibilità».

Giovanni Salvi, magistrato in pensione da un anno che come ultimo incarico è stato procuratore generale della Cassazione, tra il 1990 e il 2002 ha indagato sulla strage di Ustica come pubblico ministero alla Procura di Roma. E dopo l’intervista dell’ex premier ed ex presidente della Consulta Giuliano Amato, ricostruisce ciò che fu accertato in quell’inchiesta.

Anche secondo lei fu un missile ad abbattere il Dc9?

«La prova certa non è emersa, perché su oltre il 90 per cento della cosiddetta superficie bagnata del relitto recuperata non è stata individuata alcuna traccia di impatto esterno dell’esplosione».

E l’ipotesi della bomba?

«L’abbiamo esaminata a lungo, per la presenza di tracce di esplosivo, ma tutti gli esperimenti e le simulazioni effettuate, sia al computer che reali, hanno dato risultati tra loro contrastanti e incompatibili con i resti dell’aereo ritrovati in fondo al mare.

La bomba non può essere esclusa, ma al momento nemmeno provata. Neppure le indagini sui possibili moventi hanno aiutato a dare una risposta definitiva: abbiamo investigato sia la pista neofascista che quella palestinese e soprattutto libica senza che vi fossero elementi certi di riscontro».

Quindi?

«Quindi noi ci siamo dovuti fermare a un quadro di intenso traffico aereo, generato dalla base francese di Solenzara, in Corsica, ma anche lungo la rotta del Dc9. E poi c’è quel velivolo di tipo e nazionalità rimaste ignote che risulta dalle tracce radar di Ciampino, e che quasi certamente fu alla base delle indicazioni ricevute da Andrea Purgatori la sera stessa della strage, probabilmente dai controllori di volo militari. Questa ricostruzione portò il giudice istruttore Rosario Priore a descrivere uno scenario bellico che coinvolse il Dc9; noi come Procura ci fermammo un po’ prima».

Ma la presenza di altri aerei è più compatibile con il missile che con la bomba.

«Sicuramente sì. Anche perché abbiamo accertato che la notte stessa del disastro vi era stata una grande agitazione, furono contattati gli americani nella convinzione di una situazione non ordinaria.

Ma stiamo parlando di un processo penale, nel quale la prova dev’essere raggiunta al di là di ogni ragionevole dubbio, a differenza del processo civile o delle valutazioni storico-politiche.

Tuttavia sostenemmo anche che se le indagini avessero potuto contare sin da subito sui tanti elementi raccolti solo a molti anni di distanza, e con molte difficoltà, le conclusioni avrebbero potuto essere diverse».

Si riferisce ai depistaggi?

«Mi riferisco ai molti fatti accertati in seguito, non riferiti all’inizio dell’inchiesta. È vero che formalmente non è mai stato opposto il segreto di Stato, ma il segreto in senso sostanziale lo abbiamo rilevato con l’accesso — a volte consensuale, a volte con ispezioni o perquisizioni — agli archivi dei Servizi: ci siamo trovati di fronte alla realtà sconcertante di un’attività limitata alla raccolta delle rassegne stampa o poco più.

Il che non è credibile, né accettabile. Una scoperta che, insieme alle manipolazioni verificate durante l’inchiesta su Gladio, ha portato alla riforma del 2007 con regole precise e stringenti sulla tenuta degli archivi delle Agenzie di sicurezza».

Dunque i militari ostacolarono le indagini, come oggi sottolinea Amato?

«La Procura ha contestato ad alti gradi dell’Aeronautica militare una serie di reati, oltre all’articolo 289 del codice penale, attentato contro organi costituzionali, proprio per la manipolazione delle informazioni riferite al governo. Poi però la Corte d’assise d’appello ha assolto tutti con la formula piena, superando anche le prescrizioni dichiarate in primo grado, e la verità giudiziaria resta quella.

Naturalmente il giudizio degli storici e della politica può essere diverso perché si basa su criteri diversi. Nel tempo l’atteggiamento dei nostri interlocutori cambiò, e divenne collaborativo. Il danno, a mio parere, fu fatto nelle prime fasi e poi nel tentativo di coprire quelle iniziali reticenze».

E sul piano internazionale che ostacoli avete trovato?

«La Nato ci ha opposto un segreto non superabile dai governi nazionali quando abbiamo chiesto lumi sui funzionamenti dei sistemi radar. Noi, dopo diverse trasferte a Bruxelles senza esito, raggiungemmo un accordo, grazie anche al lavoro dei rappresentanti italiani presso la Nato, per aggirarlo con l’artifizio di quesiti posti a una commissione di esperti, dai quali abbiamo avuto informazioni senza però avere accesso diretto alle fonti».

Dalla Francia ci fu collaborazione?

«Piuttosto faticosa, direi, e senza alcun sorriso sulle labbra. Ma alla fine le risposte alle rogatorie sono arrivate: sulla base di Solenzara in Corsica, solo parziali; sulla portaerei Clemenceau in zona; su un aereo abbattuto con una bomba a bordo». […]

2-AMATO, IL RAMMARICO PER GLI ATTACCHI E ORA I PM POTREBBERO CONVOCARLO

Da grande contenitore di ipotesi investigative, l’inchiesta sulla strage di Ustica, coordinata dal procuratore capo Francesco Lo Voi e dal sostituto Erminio Amelio, potrebbe compiere un salto di qualità. Pur nelle difficoltà dovute ai quarantatré anni trascorsi (era il giugno 1980) potrebbe ancora separare la verità dei fatti dalle molte menzogne.

Con questo obiettivo i magistrati decideranno nei prossimi giorni se convocare Giuliano Amato negli uffici di piazzale Clodio. L’ex presidente del Consiglio, già numero uno della Corte costituzionale, ha rilasciato un’intervista a La Repubblica per ricostruire gli avvenimenti di cui è stato anche protagonista. I magistrati valuteranno se sia il caso di approfondire cercando di ottenere anche dettagli riservati. Amato ha parlato chiaramente di un depistaggio insistente da parte degli apparati militari (non solo dell’epoca).

I pm potrebbero chiedere maggiori delucidazioni. Fondamentale in questa lunga storia di disinformazione è capire chi fosse davvero a conoscenza dei fatti e quali ordini ricevette all’epoca. Ovviamente la strada è in salita ma questo i magistrati romani lo hanno già messo in conto. E in questo contesto cercheranno di scoprire se possano esserci elementi inediti, dunque da approfondire. 3-USTICA: ANDÒ, 'AFFRONTAI MITTERRAND, SI INFASTIDÌ'. DALLA FRANCIA UN MURO DI GOMMA, NESSUNA PROVA A DISCOLPA

(ANSA) - Il muro opposto dai francesi su Ustica "l'ho toccato per mano, da ministro. Ogni volta che provavo a parlarne con il mio collega e compagno di partito, Pierre Joxe, col quale ero in ottimi rapporti, lui si ritraeva". È quanto afferma in un'intervista alla Repubblica l'ex ministro della Difesa nel governo Amato, Salvo Andò. Nei colleghi francesi rilevava "imbarazzo, nella consapevolezza che nell'opinione pubblica internazionale i francesi erano i principali indiziati, per via dei loro cattivi rapporti con Gheddafi".

I francesi - prosegue Andò - "hanno sempre opposto una resistenza passiva all'accertamento della verità, non prove a discolpa". L'ex ministro ricorda in particolare un episodio. "Partecipai a un bilaterale, c'erano anche Giuliano Amato e Francois Mitterrand. Ustica non era all'ordine del giorno, in modo fermo e garbato posi la necessità di un'operazione trasparenza tra Paesi amici". Il presidente francese "non disse una parola", "si mostrò infastidito", dice Andò.

Un atteggiamento che definisce "un muro di gomma. Agli americani e ai francesi - sostiene - dava fastidio il nostro rapporto amichevole con il regime libico".

Are there any easter eggs in the last chapters of GCT?

Hello, yes, I'm sorry for the late reply!

I know I responded to easter eggs for GCT before but I have no idea where I left off! I'll just start with chapter 7 and go from there:

Chapter 7: Meeting the Cardinal

Cardinale's late wife, Carmela, is based on Carmela Soprano.

Cardinale's young appearance is based on Vincent Price and his old appearance is based on Lou Gallina from the Sopranos

“He got lucky on his first go,” she said brightly. Cardinale laughed but Papa only gave a sad smile. I thought it was funny. This line references that Vittoria isn't Leonardo's first child (Andrea) and the reminder made him sad.

Vittoria's bracelet is made of Silvio's ring

Chapter 8: The Enemy of My Enemy

Marie makes her first & only appearance

There's an outdated photo of Sawyer's family on his desk, proving he's a distant presence in their lives. It's noted he has grandkids though

Vittoria is thriving in this chapter

Tab soda was popular in the 1970s, the flavors mentioned were particularly popular in 1971.

Giuseppe returns and refers to Leonardo as Leo Angelino. Leonardo refers to Vittoria as his little angel and Giuseppe agrees, hinting at Leo's alias as the Angel Don.

Vittoria's mental illness is referenced when she talks about "hearing fairies"

Vittoria flexes her manipulation skills when she pretends to nearly faint so her father will get her out of the interview.

Vittoria says a little "How Rude", a reference to Stephanie Tanner's catchphrase from Full House

The story of Hades & Persephone mimics her parents (just without a happy-ish ending)

Her maternal grandparents are referenced

The true nature of the men in her life is somewhat revealed

The men's critique of Leonardo's family structure and gender rules mimics his comments towards Patience in Ragnatela about gender roles and a big happy family. He's not so happy when the turn tables

Leonardo's godson is mentioned and is noted to be the only grandson of Bianconi. As of now...

Vittoria's fondness for snuggling into Martha's chest in order to seek a maternal comfort and affection she never got to experience, reflects Leonardo's own fondness for um...womanly assets.

Feeding ducks is a fun experience. The ducks are a reference to the Sopranos

Chapter 11: Silence is Golden

Martha's maiden name is Harrow, a reference to Richard Harrow from Boardwalk Empire

The pervert, Pepe LePew, returns!

Chapter 12: Halloween Shakedown

Disney references to Sleeping Beauty & Cinderella litter the chapter!

The city treasurer, Paul Thompson, is a reference to Nucky Thompson from Boardwalk Empire. Probably a grandson of Eli or something!

Ben Rosetti, reference to Giuseppe Rosetti from S3 of Boardwalk Empire

Vittoria mentions her grandpa Richard

The old crew (Silvio, Cardinale, Malone, & Bianconi) are referenced. Leonardo notes he never got to go trick or treating.

Chapter 13: A Whole Decade Old

All of the gifts were released in 1971, when the story takes place

Vittoria learned the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker. I chose the nutcracker because that was the ballet we went on a field trip to see!

Daisy is based on my pup, Rosie from the flower name to the breed. Though my dog is a schnoodle. Daisy is a golden doodle.

Apparently, I accidentally put a Frozen reference in there: "Do you wanna build a snowman?" Whoops!

Chapter 14: Merry Christmas

Daisy's middle name was based on Leonardo's daughter's name in @liquor-belle AU Mommy Dearest. I just really love the name Fiorella!

Vittoria gave her father a sculpted candy jar and her Halloween candy after learning he never got to go trick or treating when he was a child

They get to see Sleeping Beauty. It was re-released in theaters in 1971 after making its original debut in 1959

Chapter 15: Garland City Zoo

Leonardo's paranoid about Vittoria getting kidnapped after reading about missing girls in the newspaper. This is during, what crime historians refer to as the serial killer era or the "golden age of serial murder."

Pietro Cardinale is referred to as Peter, the anglicized version of his name. He's noted as being as tall as Leonardo

Pietro and Leonardo don't hug or kiss each other on the cheek, a reference to how mafia relations changed in the 1970s.

Gilbert doesn't know Italian and his father knows very little. (This part isn't mentioned but the Bianconi brothers don't know a whole lot either). Leonardo is one of the last dons to speak the language fluently and is passing it on to his daughter.

St. Joseph's, the school Leonardo attended, is name-dropped

I use the term "walk with purpose" in everyday life, especially with my students!

Peter Cardinale is the dark side of the war. He's so desensitized to killing. I used Jimmy Darmody (Boardwalk Empire), Richard Harrow (Boardwalk Empire), & Danny (Peaky Blinders) for inspiration. His coping mechanism is cigarettes that he used to replace alcohol.

Peter says "they could take a son from you", referring to the draft that was a prominent fear for parents of sons since this was the time of the Vietnam War.

The lie Vittoria's been told to tell people about her mother is revealed, including what her mother's "name" is

Gary got 20 years (15 with good behavior). He served the 15 and got out 4 years AFTER Leonardo.

Gary was the only one in prison who knew of Vittoria's existence during Leonardo's stay there

Vittoria stabbed Rodney in the hand the same way Leonardo stabbed Patience in her hand. But in Vittoria's defense, "The pencil never went through his hand entirely."

The man Martha was questioned about has a name: Geoffrey Shafford. He's a pervert.

The title is true. Leonardo's had worse days. It was fine.

Chapter 15 (You Should’ve Just Listened)

Leo remembers Silvio forcing him to eat the food he messed up until the point of vomiting…well Marilyn will remember vomiting after she messed up her math.

In another history repeating itself scenario, Leo flung Snowbell outside and considers himself quite generous given Silvio flung Antonina’s cat down a well.

Leo really doesn’t want to be Silvio as a father, but…he’s too damaged to see that he is.

Chapter 18 (Buon Natale)-

Marilyn remembers the song Hard Times Come Again No More, that Patience’s mom sang to her and would sing to herself when she needed comfort. She overheard Patience sing it to herself because Patience never thought to sing it to her own daughter.

Leo made a jab at Patience and “mistakingly” said, “I’m sure she’s looking up at us,” implying she’s in hell.

Like Patience’s first Christmas at the mansion, Sawyer is also there to ruin Marilyn’s mood.

Petty Patience still exists in her daughter who released the ants into Sawyer’s coat.

Chapter 19 (Operation Be My Valentine)-

I love the Disney movie references (if you can't tell) so Pinocchio gets a brief mention between Leo & Marilyn

Referenced the time Leo arrived in Italy & his upcoming 40th birthday 😓

Silvio and Vittoria are brought up, even though their names aren't said.

Chapter 20 (Boys are the Worst)-

Leo referred to the dress with the diamond bodice and 12 ft. train he was making Patience when he was describing their “wedding” to Vittoria.

Did you see all of the Andrea references? Yeah, that hurt me to write 😢.

Legit took this joke from an ask that you received. I couldn’t help it, because it was so funny 😂. I changed a couple of lines around though.

Vittoria followed in Leo’s footsteps and went for the ankles to keep Emilio from getting away.

Aww, look at little Marilyn swear like a sailor and make her Mama proud by wounding mens’ pride. So proud of her!

Chapter 21 (Girl Time)-

Her name via Leo is revealed as Vittoria Maria Charlotte Antonina Borghese. He named her after his mom and Antonina who has died by this point 😢

Last time (at least for now) she’ll be referred to as Marilyn

Nixon expunged Leo’s crimes, which will allow him to apply for citizenship. Since the story is told from Marilyn’s POV, she won’t know exactly what happened and it won’t be stated explicitly to her.

Chapter 23 (There Goes My Innocence)-

"I know I'm named after Mama's mommy." Oh, honey, you're named after your father's too. Her family has a mommy fixation.

Family photo of her, Patience, Leo, & Principessa Snowbell. Someone's obviously missing 😢 But she drew the opera house scene with her parents in front of it.

About the last line, ooooof! She's got the Winslow luck. It's laughably bad.

Chapter 25 (When Will it Stop Hurting?)-

“Well, I think it’d be easier to get to the moon,” Mrs. Palmer corrected. This flashback takes place in 1967-1968, a few years prior to the moon landing.

And there's Marilyn's homophobia, courtesy of Patience.

Chapter 26 (The Funeral)-

“Angel, you wound me. And I’m sure your father wouldn’t like to hear that,” he [Costa] tutted. Costa refers to her as Angel, a reference to her father being the Angel Don.

Leo going into overprotective dad mode and demonstrating his vicious streak in his heart-to-heart with Marilyn.

The little Patience in her is ready to shoot Costa. Her Mama would be proud.

Leo’s gained some weight. It’s not an easter egg but I think it’s funny 😂

Chapter 27 (Playdate)-

Awww, little Marilyn found one of her Papa's torture devices and used it as a jump rope. How cute!

Marilyn says, “Put on your smile, Papa,” which is a direct callback to what Leo said to her in Chapter 20 (Boys are the Worst), “Put on your smile,” he instructed. This time, she was the one who was looking forward to the playdate.

Leo gets to suffer the long-winded conversations with the talkative Sig. Mazzeo, the high-pitched squealing of little girls and nursery rhymes playing on repeat. Again, not an easter egg by I think it’s funny 😂

I've never known anyone who's been in jail before! 😂 😂 Oh, Marilyn, he's in the next room.

Sig. Mazzeo is mentioned to have known Silvio & worked with him.

My favorite reference: Little sleuth Marilyn Flora Winslow sneaks into her father's office to make a call & gets caught. This is supposed to pay homage to Patience's sleuthing skills and when Patience called Michael in Ragnatela but got caught.

Marilyn looks through her father's address book to find Charles Sawyer's name (she looks under 'C' for Charles) and finds names like Bianconi and Cardinale, two of the four dons from Ragnatela. Their numbers aren't quite useful anymore 😬

Chapter 28 (Trust)-

Leo spills the tea about his mom & his trauma regarding asylums shines through

Leo kept her ornament and hangs it in his office 🥺

Leo left her because he’s waking up early to work out, because of Sig. Mazzeo’s comment about his weight really got to him.

Chapter 29 (Art Date)-

This chapter marks the first time Silvio’s name is dropped into the story

Silvio’s appearance and likeness to Leonardo is mentioned, as well as his work as a tailor

Leo mentions that he studied photography and sculpture, and there are several points where you can see his studies paid off. Yes, he also mentions he was good in “all areas” at school 🙄

“Did you make the statues in our garden?” she asked is a direct reference to what Patience asked him when she was there in his mansion in Chapter 36 of Ragnatela. Leo notices it and is unsettled by it.

Patience burned him beyond the grave by saying artists are poor and useless.

Garland City is name-dropped as the place they’ll be moving back to. She confuses it with the Emerald City/Wizard of Oz Reference.

Another callback to chapter 36 with their “art date” taking place in the rock gardens, which was Patience’s favorite place in the mansion.

Short Patience reference

I wanted to contrast the appearance of the mansion from when Patience first went there and it looked like a model home to what it is now with Marilyn living there. It’s a lot more “homey” and it’s evident that people live there with the personal touches.
