my biggest problem was feeling like they’d never actually say that to each other no matter how bad the fight was, so despite my numerous other ideas, this is post-eadu because i decided that was the only time it might actually make sense

warning for angst and no comfort (but in my mind they make it off scarif after this and live happily ever after bye)

It’s not a peace offering when he hands her a blanket to wrap around herself, not by far.

He’s not naïve enough to think that it’d matter, or that she wants an apology from him. She wants to hate him, not forgive him, and she’s going to do that no matter what he does. He’s not sure he feels like he has anything to apologize for, in any case.

He’s not sorry.

He is what he is, he does what he does, he doesn’t have to justify himself to anyone, and if she doesn’t like that… well, he supposes it doesn’t matter. It shouldn’t matter. After this is over, if they survive, he’s not going to see Jyn Erso ever again. She’s just a brief chapter in his life, a sudden violent whirlwind that comes and goes.

He’s not sorry.

But he hates that he cares what she thinks.

She grabs the blanket, all but wrenching it from his hand. Doesn’t look at him as she wraps it around her shoulders, shaking from the rain. Her glare burning a hole into the floor of the ship. It almost swallows her whole, this big heavy blanket, and yet she seems larger than she is. The fiery hatred in her gaze that she refuses to turn to him. The fury in her veins fills the room and echoes off the walls. She’s small in stature but her presence is undeniable, and Cassian cannot shake her.

After it’s over, he promises himself. If he survives. She’ll be gone and he can forget about her and her soulful green eyes.

Wordlessly, he turns away from her. Not a peace offering. Just a blanket.

And maybe something in Jyn snaps.

“I wish I never met you,” she rasps, her tone hollow.

It stops him.

How much he wishes that it didn’t hurt to hear. That it wasn’t a knife to the chest. But it’s a quick and quiet execution. Not because it’s said in anger or spite, or as a weapon to brandish and pierce him with on purpose. But because it’s said in earnest, in defeat, just the simple unavoidable truth.

She’s not a liar like him.

He is what he is. He won’t make apologies for it. But he knows he’d never be enough for someone like her.

His back to her, voice quiet and dead, he tells her.

“I wish you never met me either.”

yeah I love what felicity jones did with jyn but lol she could have been played by a woc. the only argument against that is her family is Imperial and making imps anything other than a bunch of crusty old white brits is kind of off brand for them, but lolll it still doesn't matter like why are they all white brunettes

The years after the War are strange, Jyn thinks. Somehow both too calm and too chaotic, everyone trying to figure out what over and peace and future looked like.

For Jyn, wearing the scars of Scarif, this means staying with the Pathfinders. What else does she know, that she’s ready for? And what do you want? Saw had asked her, that day Jedha exploded, but Jyn had never wanted to remember, at the time, not even after the Second Death Star explodes over Endor.

She keeps going, and the War hasn’t been won yet, anyways.

Cassian (and Kay) is there. Baze and Chirrut and Bodhi are finding new places, but they keep in contact. She visits Bodhi often, both of them sharing the strange knowledge as the only two people left alive who had loved Galen Erso, and later, the discovery that they have much more in common than believed. New political offices are being formed and bills are being discussed and old rebel squadrons are getting uniforms that don’t have blood patches and third-generation sewing jobs to hold them together. The Empire, now just rogue Imperial Cells, keeps trying, but they’re pushed further, and further, into Outer Rim territories.

Time between missions grows longer. And with time comes thinking, and things she consciously allowed herself to forget. At first, dark, filled with flashing colour and the roar of a blaster, Jyn begins to dream of green loamy fields and warm rains, waking to see Cassian beside her, sleepily nuzzling her and falling back into dreams until Kay starts banging on the door.

She lets herself turn the dream over and over in her mind as the days pass.

to anon asking about retinol + salicylic acid cleansers, because I cannot help myself lmao. if you have any concerns you should absolutely consult a doctor (and an esthetician if you want but we are not as qualified as derms obviously), but yes even though for many people using OTC retinol and exfoliating cleansers are no problem, you might be doing a bit of over exfoliation and could potentially make things worse by doing too much. try switching up your cleanser to something more gentle (a good otc cleanser is the cerave hydrating cleanser) and save the exfoliating cleanser for a couple times a week to start. build up to using your retinol every night, and always use a good moisturizer to help prevent irritation. yes, retinol is not the same as tretinoin but it is just different because tretinoin and other retinoic acids like differin gel don't need to be converted to retinoic acid like retinol does (let's just say your loreal retinol will likely work as effectively as a prescription, but not as fast.) overexfoliation is so common and very counterproductive. been there many times myself both as an esthetician and not, and let me say it is hard having skin that you can't even put like aloe on because your skin's moisture barrier is fucked. also wear spf.

yeah the american healthcare system is a million times worse than any other "developed" country's but obviously that doesn't mean that these countries are better on other things. like... actually I kind of feel like all of these global north countries are terribly racist, just in different ways. but I can understand why ppl would leave for better health care.

Visiting the U.S is nice as a Canadian but I would never live there longterm for that reason lol. But alsoCanada turned away thousands of people who walked to Canada (after being denied entry into Canada via paperwork) when Trump was first elected and sent them back to the U.S, despite the gov very very likely knowing the reason why they did it, so we’re not all immigrant-friendly either, even when they’re literally just American and live like an hour away from the border

at this point I am pretty sure these are just petty zukka and kataang stans harassing zutara fans. they have zero concern about indigenous rights. all I can say as someone who was a minor during the og atla ship wars, I know how hurtful this stuff can be - esp bc zutara ISN'T inherently harmful. folks when it comes to anon hate assume anons are not acting in good faith. zutara has always had poc fans and always will, and we white adult zutara fans should do what you're doing - stand up for them.
