This may be random but the other day I was listening to Aidan's playlist of Five "representing his mental state" and that song of Elliot Smith "Everything Means Nothing To Me" is kind of similar to an OST in a RPG game that you all might know of.

I'm in both OMORI and TUA fandom, and when that song came, I immediately thought of Aubrey from OMORI. Her OST being "It Means Everything" and Five's being "Everything Means Nothing To Me"

...

Am I the only one seeing this connection/parallel?

Aubrey's being "It Means Everything" saying how Mari's death meant everything to her, thinking everyone else abandoned her and Mari meant everything to her. About Five, I'm not really good at analysis stuff, but the line "Everything means nothing to me" kept on playing on repeat at the end of the song. How I see it is that even after saving the world numerous times, saving his siblings, doing everything he can just for his loved ones and a billion other people to be safe, everything still meant nothing to him.

The only reason why he ever came back was to save his family and prevent the apocalypse from happening, think of it as like his "reason" to live. His whole entire life, he's been living in a apocalyptic wasteland, with no food, no human interaction, seeing his siblings' dead bodies, at just 13? Idk abt y'all but I would've killed myself if I was alone for that long. But Five was strong. He stayed strong for himself and his family.

He continued living just for his family, he murdered the goddamn board just for his family, he did everything just for his family. It's like they're his reason of living, Delores was only there to keep his sanity. But that still wasn't enough.

And even after everything, all his efforts of saving the world, saving his family, fix the timelines, it was all useless. It meant nothing to him. Why? Because he gets shit on by his family all the goddamn time. They all blame him for shit, he didn't even get a single "thank you" from them. Even if it looks like he isn't hurt on the outside, he's hurt on the inside. It's literally on his playlist "Roman Candle"

"I wanna hurt him" Five is hurt, he's hurting yet he still saved his family, stopped the apocalypse, did everything he could. He ignored his physical and mental health, to the point of reaching his limit, all just for his family

And what does he get in return? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. He doesn't get an appreciation from his family, they don't see that he's hurting. Hell, he looked like he was about to cry in s3 after they all failed to stop the Kugelblitz. I swear, there were tears in his eyes while he was talking, as if he's trying not to cry in front of the family. He wanted to be strong for his siblings, he didn't want them to worry about him. Yet he couldn't handle it, he couldn't handle the pain, he wanted it all to end.

He wanted to retire, to rest, to spend some time for himself and his family too. But in the end, no matter how many times he saved the world, saved his family, fixed the timelines, he will never get away from the very thing that ended his whole childhood, his family, the world, everything.

Anyways, this is very random lmfao. I'm not saying that Aubrey and Five have something in common, it's just their song titles that had something connected/parallel to them.

TL;DR

"It means everything" Everything meant to Aubrey. Mari's death meant everything to Aubrey, the friend group falling apart meant everything to Aubrey, the others 'moving on' and 'abandoning' her and Aubrey meant everything to her.

"Everything Means Nothing To Me" Everything meant nothing to Five. Even after saving his family and the world, it was all useless. Because what's the point of trying if you're just going to get blamed on by the people that you desperately tried to save? What's the point of trying if the very thing that ended everything, your whole childhood, your family, the entire world, was just going to come back?

So uh yeah. Wow. That is one long ass essay. I'm not really good at analysis stuff??? So I wanna hear yall's opinion or analysis of this. But I hope u guys know what I mean

Okay thoughts:

"Great Vacation" verse 2 is very part 18 divorce and part 40. "There's some things you shouldn't say/ because the judge can hear you and it soon will be the day"... "and we'll see what you can do to try to lie and buy your way out of this one pal" that's intermezzo and beginnings of 41.

"Solemn Awakening" my brain's decided this is a between episode 20 to episode 26 John song.

"Just when I thought I had you back/ You were stolen from my grasp/ Without a trace, without a clue/ How can I pursue?/ Still I will find you"

the two getting separated by the King- John fighting after Arthur is dropped (still injured) on a snowy mountain top and being thrown into the dark world

John's time in the Dark World, his bedrock. Deal with Kayne

Getting back to Arthur, "I will not let you drown"

"Woe to Me" this is just general vibes. I have no particular images with this song currently. based around my vague memory that he called feeding the forest in the Dreamlands with his finger "penance" (I think. it's been a while since I listened to that episode)

"Skywriter" OOH okay this is more Arthur Lester coded. but it kind of fits both.

"Saints I" verses are very John. i mean "A hostage tied up by its nature/ That can′t help unsheathing its claws/ A beast with desires of a God/ (You won't become, you won′t become)" bridge to end = "I am entirely my own" and "only I decide who I am." I wasn't going to listen to this one thinking about malevolent, but then I started Saints II by accident and my brain went YELLOW so I had to listen to this one with John in mind.

"Saints II" oh that's yellow coded. beginning- larson's hubris and manipulation. The part with overlapping parts I think goes with comparing Arthur and John, to Arthur and Yellow, to Larson and Yellow. No clear images there but vibes are neat. The ending - yeah that's yellow.

"Penelope Graves" op you were not kidding wow. Even just thinking about the chorus. "And her name/ Drifted away/ When she was tamed/ And so she became/ Penelope Graves" Oh i'm thinking about John choosing John Doe as a name now.

"Gambit of Night" i'm seeing the beginnings of an idea here with season 5.

"Enchante" LARSON and the Order. Ohh hubris guy and Yellow "if we can't raise the dead we're gonna raise hell instead"

"Komm Jesu" Arthur and John. Verse 1 = season 1. Chorus 1 = episode 12. Verse 2= season 2 Dreamlands stuff. Chorus 2= episode 20. look from here on out they're just repeating "komm Jesu" just imagine cool stuff and scenes from the podcast

"You Think Your Skull Is a Mighty Fortress" we've had soooooo many folks who mess with minds Yeah. You could see a version of this looking at that- focusing on The Madness or The Nightmare, but I also see a version focusing on John's secrets here. Looking at John kidding his deal in season 3 and 4, Arthur getting worried. the reveal in part 40, the end of Intermezzo, the beginning of 41.

"I Shot a Man" vibes. verse 1- John and Parker. Verse 2- John and Oscar. Verse 3- John and Arthur

"You'll Never Hear it Coming" this is basically just vibes

"All at Once" this is here for the bridge and chorus. Arthur and John. their friendship means so much to me.

"Mad godS" (why is the title capitalized like that) this is the only one of the new 3 songs I've listened to. This is here for the chaotic vibe + complaining about mad gods

How fortunate am I to have so many Things to love and be excited about, to appreciate and look forward to?

Things I feel so strongly about that they stumble into my mind, univited, at random times of the day? Things that spill into my speech and vocabulary without me noticing? Things that impact my vision to the point where everywhere I look, everywhere I go, I see ghosts of them?

How lucky am I to have so many Things I love and cherish enough for them to reshape my very person, change my beliefs and make me grow? Things that make my own loved ones see the Things out in the wild, and go out of their way to make sure I see them too?

How wonderful is it that I have Things that I love so much that the very act is deemed and dubbed "not normal", making my love for them seem like it's more than they are supposed to recieve? An out-of-the-ordinary and above-the-norm appreciation for the Things that make the people around me shake their heads, call me "silly".

It’s actually crazy I got that anon because I was thinking on my drive home today that, while discussing my coworker’s fondness for house music and how he’d gone a long time without having any friends who shared his music taste, it occurred to me that I too have had a problem where since high school I haven’t really had friends who share my music taste 😞 in high school my best friend and I went to shows ALL THE TIME because we both loved the alt indie rock that was flourishing in 2014 or whatever. and then I went off to college and my music taste kept growing and expanding and despite me listening to what feels like every genre under the sun, I go to most concerts solo and my friends don’t know any songs by my favorite bands!! As someone who likes a really wide variety of music, it’s wild that I seem to lack listening commonalities with most close people in my life 😞😞😞
