honestly the more I see people be like 'synthv doesn't have a unique sound!!!' okay maybe the engine noise isn't as in your face but you literally are able to do unique tuning if you want to you just, you know, have to learn the program and DO IT and not stick to like the auto ai-tuning stuff
the problem is a lot of people do lean on that so yeah peoples tuning ends up sounding similar jhgfdsdfghg

🎧💙🎤 Day 1 of my 100-follower event: I've already made like, two stimboards about myself (😭), so something I really love is HATSUNE MIKU.
Yeah, I'm two days late to MY OWN EVENT...
Anyway, I was originally going to make this a Vocaloid-in-general stimboard, but Miku has a whole lot more stim gifs compared to any other Vocaloid, so I just had to go with her 😭 Which is not a problem. How could I not love the queen herself.
Also fun fact I own the figure in the center gif

never been part of a tag game, sounds really fun! tagged by dear Lanvender, @khan-crete
Do you make your bed? A freshly decrumbed, stuffed animal arranged and dirty clothes removed bed feels great. How often do I do this? We mustn't ask (like once or twice a month) that's all making the bed entails for me, I just have a fitted then normal sheet and blankets
Favorite Number? 4 4 4 4 4! I've loved four my entire life she is like a goddess to me. 2+2 2*2 2^2, divides into halves twice. can only compete with sixteen, whose status and 2^4 and 4^2 is nice, but not as symmetric. 37 and 73 have a place in my heart as the 12th and 21st primes, but not a large place compared to 4
What's your job? What do I get paid for? undergrad lab TA, what do I do? grad research in low energy nuclear physics
If you could go back to school, would you? In school technically still. Would I rewind time to experience school again? highschool no college yes. would I go back for another college degree? I could be convinced if it would be cheap and unobtrusive to my current schooling. Was always torn between physics and linguistics. I made the right choice but I always wonder what if.
Can you Parallel Park? I have done it, on the driving test, like four or five years ago. I think I could do it again, but not too confident
Do you think Aliens are real? Eh, probably in a 'the observable universe 9.3e+9 ly across, it must have happened more than once' kinda way, but not in a 'they've been feeding us tech for thousands of years or are visiting us' kinda way.
Can you drive a manual car? Never tried, hubris tell me yes, anxiety with even normal cars tells me I'd probably fuck up the transmission while trying to leave the driveway. gonna say yeag
Guilty Pleasure? I think like cheesy childhood disney live action movies?, generally I'm pretty full chested about the things I enjoy
Favorite Type of Music? yeah, hard, a lot of vocaloid, which isn't reallly a genre, a lot of edm genres from like old school monstercat, a lot of jrock by way of anime OP's of show's I've never watched then finding other songs by those artists. some rock music though that genre is also extremely expansive and I'm not sure how I'd categorize a lot of it. Generally my music consumption consists of a group of maybe five songs completely unrelated on repeat for months at a time and genre is not a huge factor in that
Do you like puzzles? twisty puzzles like rubik's cube type puzzles are really fun working, towards doing a 3x3 blindfolded but challenging, I used to do jigsaw's with my mom but over the course of a very long time because we'd get frustrated. crosswords, but I'm no good at them
Favorite Childhood Sport? Soccerrrr. Wish I'd stayed with it, but there were only a couple more years before there wasn't a league for my age group anyway, been trying to get back into it recreationally
Do you talk to yourself? I do, but as if I'm talking to someone else. I prefer not to do it because I'm not content with my voice atm, but I find myself doing it a lot especially when getting stuck on research stuff trying to talk it out or I will say a comment to someone I disagree with outloud rather than typing it and posting it. A lot of this is to my reflection which is probably part of the reason it feels like someone else lol
Tea or Coffee? tea all the way. drank iced sweet black tea my entire childhood and started drinking it hot with milk in college. I was the kind of person that disliking coffee was a sort of pillar of my tastes, but then a few years ago made it with like half milk and a lot of sugar and like it, lotta people wouldn't call that coffee, but eh.
First thing you wanted to be when you grew up? The actual first thing was everything. I would amalgamate like all the stereotypes of things kids want to be into one so a firefighter-astronaut-whatever else. When I got a better sense of my interests, inventor, so I guess like product designer, but what that meant to me was I got to sit around and think of neat gadgets and items then figure out how to make them like freeze ray, time machine, clone gun, that kind of thing lol. the first practical idea of a job I wanted was theoretical physicist in like middle school, which I kinda am now so success I guess
What Movies do you Adore? not much of a movie person, but like to watch movies other people are interested in with them, love castle in the sky, LOTR, howl's moving castle, your name, probably others in those categories I don't know about yet or have forgotten and I have a strong soft spot for childhood halloween movies like twitches and halloweentown
I'm curious what @arc-archernar and @charyou-tree have got to say if they'd like to, and anyone else that wants to participate!

Sad she only got one album out before everything went to shit, but what's a girl to do?
This is a fake album cover for my dnd character, Helvia, and her fake band THREAT DISPLAY!!! Context for this piece and Helvia as a whole under the cut because once I start I can't stop talking about her <3
SO the campaign hasn't started yet, but Helvia is my character for a science fiction campaign. She's robot!!! Well I guess that's obvious now. BUT the basic gist: Helvia was manufactured as an industry-controlled and maintained electronic "punk" singer. When the project ended up making no money, everything related to it (including her), was abandoned. Three years later, she wakes up out of stasis with no clue what happened, an insane debt, and a failing memory. You will look at her !! Her full name is Helvia Cardinalis. This is just a genus of mantis it doesn't have any special meaning I just like bugs <3
Tumblr media
-she has generated "background" memories of an entire life, but there's no telling which of those are real. I don't actually know which of them are real. My dm does!!! We'll be finding out together!!
-sometimes she uh. Doesn't know basic information. Whenever something she should reasonably know gets brought up I get to roll a flat d20 to do a "memory check", the checks getting harder the older the memory is. When she fails, she gets to lie or change the topic etc because she would rather DIE than admit anything is wrong with her.
-the album cover is kind of an intentionally really poor introduction of her character. She's more silly than anything? The entire project was meticulously micromanaged by the company that made her. The "novelty" and aesthetic of having a construct as their lead took forefront in its advertisement. There were two other members of THREAT DISPLAY!!! But she has no memory of them because they were considered comparatively SO unimportant to advertising and to her that they have gone... forgotten.
-Helvia herself is. A real character alright!!! Based entirely in what a corporation thinks a "cool alternative girl" is, she's impulsive, selfish, and just. So fucking stupid. She's firmly a "might makes right" type of person who was designed to appear counterculture but still ultimately serve and be fine with the status quo as long as it benefits her. She's going to do anything that grants her immediate satisfaction, and is obsessed with maintaining her image as "cool and above it all", even as her body is actively breaking down. She easily falls for flattery.
Notes about the piece: yeah I downloaded and used splatoon fonts for the nonsense text. I think I typed gay sex like twice I'll be real none of it translates to relevant information. I think there's something in there about how I hope it came across as an adequate parody of machine girl album covers (my main inspiration). The composition of the piece itself is meant to feel kind of skeevy and exploitative because well. It is!! It's drawing the fine line between 'wow this is so cool and counterculture of us wow!!!' and fetishistic? Etc etc missing the chestpiece as an analog for putting a woman topless on the cover. There's actually a separate sketch I did as a canonical "mock up" for the design that originally included the other members, treating them like props because they're so unimportant, before they were scrapped from the final design because they were That Unimportant.
Notes on Helvia's design: I pulled from a few sources for this!! Notably I looked at so many pictures of that band Tramp Stamps. Remember Tramp Stamps? I don't. They're like the direct analog I think to her. I also pulled from vocaloid designs!! Impractical, cool, kind of "anime" feel. This comes across most in her hair I think which is just so beautifully impractical. The yellow gloves are so stupid important to me actually they're kind of ugly but it's the only way her name ended up being important: helvia cardinalis (mantis) is Bright Yellow and raises its 'arms' in its threat display, which I wanted to pull from for potential posing of her!! So. Bright stupid yellow gloves <3 they're an easy way to tell her character apart too & mean I don't have to worry about drawing all the nonsense on her arms. The translucent skirt also comes from the mantis, sort of pulled from its wings!! Original concepts for her included synthetic skin rotting away but her design was already more complicated than I normally go for and we ultimately ended up realizing her being openly and visibly a construct was important for her image in her music career so it worked out well! She is at least missing an eyeball :] doesn't affect vision since the mechanics are still in place but I guess she just gets that fun sans glow socket <3 her outfit is meant to look simultaneously cool, vaguely expensive, but also super super cheap?? Overall I'm happy with the fact that she looks both cool and really stupidly impractical in that classic 2000s deviantart oc way <3 it's important to me! Ultimately:

what was ur trajectory for getting into hardcore?
Short answer:
Vocaloid -> Tumblr mutuals give me a taste of hardcore -> hardcore touhou arranges and lolicore -> hardcore autism -> 4lung links me a copy of FL studio -> Perpetuates the cycle
Long timeline below the cut:
c. 2009-2011: get into vocaloid because a high schooler TA at art camp plays World Is Mine and a few other classics, and i think it's just the coolest thing ever.
c 2012-2013: still really into vocaloid. it's my special interest. finding myself enjoying electronic stuff but not knowing anything about genres. going on youtube deep dives, listening to anything i can find reuploaded off niconico. i have a bookmark folder from around this time with a good hundred or so songs in it lol
2013-2014: introduced to things like wolfgun, pendulum, and more experimental electronic like osamu sato by tumblr mutuals. some of my mutuals make their own music. they and quite a few others i follow are into lapfox but i never went out of my way to listen. the callout drops and i have no idea what anyone is talking about but i avoid the subject.
i want to get into making music. i had a tiny bit of background when i was in elementary school, but i still struggle to read sheet music, i don't know shit about playing the piano, and i don't know what programs to use. i watch Cakewalk videos in mystified awe, unable to read anything on it. i am very bad at searching for information online.
somehow, i get myself into using UTAU, mostly just converting USTs, doing a little tuning, and trying to edit in Audacity. I start using Famitracker. While I struggle with the interface, I finally for the first time understand music. The process of synthesizing a sound makes sense for me, and I want more.
2014-2015: i'm into 8tracks and i like, like fucking, electroswing and glitch hop and shit. i'm just listening to random dancey electronic. i don't know. i liked the hotline miami soundtrack
2015: old vocaloid producers are retiring and moving on, the slump is starting to hit. i get a new computer, i deleted my old tumblr coinciding with losing most of the people i spent time with on there, i focus more on school. but i'm on twitter and soon i've remade my tumblr.
i start making new friends. i get invited to play nekodancer with one of them, and get introduced to their friend (hi ein). i think he put on like a goreshit song or a touhou arrange or something but it just really cracked my brain open.
i get into touhou, i get into touhou arranges, and this is when i meet gabber and breakcore. i'm also pretty into lolicore but i have a hard time talking about it due to it being called lolicore (oh, how time changes a person)
2016: at this point, hardcore is my special interest. i'm collecting things in youtube playlists, i'm getting really granular about genres. i'm slurping shit off of lolicore.ch
i want to make hardcore but i don't know how. i try doing things in sunvox to no avail. i try playing around in audacity to no avail. but the hardcore spirit is within me
additional events of note:
2016 or 2017: i don't know when or how i ended up finding out about 4lung, probably a twitter mutual. i like her stuff and she puts out a lot of it. the fanbase is friendly.
if you ask, 4lung will send you a pastebin with a link to FL studio, sample packs, and tips on getting started making breakcore. so i get FL studio. i'm still busy at school, but i make some practice tracks for assignments.
2017: i make the first E-R0 MAID.f track.
and then i just kept going. my music-related special interests wax and wane with my ability to focus on them compared to other things going on in my life but they never really fade completely. in early 2023 i started djing so that's brought it back.
so yeah that's roughly my trajectory thanks for listening

It’s the prsk only anon. Oh yeah I did see there was an anime! I just have to make time for that lol. But I was thinking you could make it easier for other people like me who aren’t familiar with both yet. Can you explain or summarize what the similarities and differences are between prsk and Bandori stories?
OFC !!
biggest difference you had in early bandori and early prsk is that the event stories in bandori feel way more 'one shot' like than prsk. the character development still happen and the past events are still referenced ofc but in comparison the events Suffice in themselves. best Counter example with prsk is the first leoneed arc from unit story to resonating with you. all the events specifically build up to this etc. currently i feel like the tendency is actually being reversed on both sides which is nice to see !!
bandori also got a WIDE cast of characters. 45 whole girlies to enjoy. so you are Bound to find one that you enjoy following in their story and character development. also each group got their Own specific visuals and Type as one does in that genre. theres a Lot of cross bands friendships and connections that are so so fun to follow thru and also nice to see how it impacts the story
bandori actually now got 10 girlies in college ! we had a huge pre graduation arc that touched onto all the subjects that what graduation Mean to those characters. some were excited. some were so so scared (imai lisa <3). and now the stories do take into account that change. as well as the fact that a LOT of other girls are now in their last year of highschool. which is not something that prsk has touched upon yet so it feels nice to see !!
i think that prsk often made a name for itself for having 'heavier' themes and writing but as someone who has read a fair share of both that both share the same tone and type of writing while being very distinct from each other. maybe that bandori is a bit more Subtexty in its heavier themes earlier on but they exist and are actually very much portrayed in the mygo anime and in more events going forward.
now that we got the big broad strokes of the Writing and story. the Actual goal of those two franchises. music. which is both so so great
while all of bandori music is made with 'it must sounds like a band is actually playing it' in mind (compared to prsk units who are Less limited by that in some way) All the bands have a Very distinctive sounds and genre of band music. no matter which band you love the most you will Always want to check what the others are doing and it wont feel repetitive in the slightest
prsk is SO good to make you discover producers, their style of music and their discography. which is so great to me who never got to deep dive into vocaloid music until i got into prsk. bandoris music will often have the same ppl working on it (unless mygo and avemuji who got Separated music production which is Great) so it doesnt have that kind of reach
i will say it. it is FUN to compare when both franchise got covers in common when ppl Arent being disingenuous about the quality of each (prsk violently shaking you to fix your mixing on some covers PLEASE) and to see why and how they both make it work !!!
LIVE PERFORMANCES. both got their own brand performances ofc. prsk more in line with what vocaloid concerts are like. adore seeing them. but ooh bandori. the whole goal of the franchise was to put on concerts and by god they succeeded. 6 out of the 9 bands got live concerts fully performed by the seiyuu. and it is SO so great to see them progress when you know that a GOOD bunch of them picked up their instruments just for that role. cant recommend to watch bandori concerts enough. if anything.
i will stop there for now but those are my personal important points !!!

Introduction - What is VOCALOID?
Hello everyone, Shimmer here! This is my first post in this guide blog thingy. I thought it would be a good idea to explain what VOCALOID actually is before I jump into how to use the software. Otherwise, it would be like baking a cake without knowing what cakes are.
So, let’s start by addressing what VOCALOID is not.
VOCALOID is NOT an anime series. Although Hatsune Miku made cameos in "Dropkick on My Devil!", she never originated from an anime series because she is NOT an anime character.
Second, VOCALOIDs are not those crappy AI voice models. You know, those weird “voicebanks” where you can make Spongebob Squarepants sing "7 Rings" or have Cartman from South Park rap "INDUSTRY BABY"? Yeah, those are actually illegal renditions of celebrity voices without the knowledge of the voice actors/influencers/singers whose voices were used to make the models. You just put the models over an audio track, and boom. Lazy, illegal shit.
youtube
Finally, this is just common sense, but VOCALOID did not originate from Project Sekai! Colorful Stage! The Cryptonloids (Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, Kaito, and Meiko) have existed long before the game was released; VOCALOID 1 was released in 2004, while the money making machine was launched in Japan in 2020. That is a gap of sixteen years, and if you compare the time between Hatsune Miku V2's release and Project Sekai, we have another thirteen year difference there.
With that being said, what *is* VOCALOID?
The best definition I can give you is that it is a digital singing synthesizer. Basically, it is an instrument, but instead of piano notes, you get vocals.
Tumblr media
youtube
And no, *this* AKITO is not associated with the Akito Shinonome from Project Sekai.
To advertise this voicebanks and increase their appeal, Crypton, VSINGER, AH-Software Co., Internet Co. Ltd, and many other companies that make voicebanks for this software have cute or hot anime-style avatars designed for their box art. This was a great marketing scheme in my opinion, because wouldn't you be more inclined to purchasing something if it looks aesthetic, kawaii, or epic? Just look at GUMI's design!
Tumblr media
Alright, I have a feeling I may have bored most users who are reading this weird info-dump, so I am going to add one final, important point. Remember our wood analogy? Well, we have the workbench (VOCALOID), and the wood (the voicebank(s) of your choice). Making a desk for instance would be like making a cover of a song. But people can make the same kind of desk with an entirely different appearance or texture. Similarly, a lot of producers can make covers of the same song, but they can sound entirely different in regards to their pitch, tone, or melody. This aspect is known as "tuning".
Tuning is basically the process of editing the properties of a voicebank and the notes/lyrics they are singing to create a specific sound. People can tune the same song in different ways. For instance, listen to the original "Rolling Girl" by wowaka, and then these covers. They are all the same song, but tuned in entirely different ways.
Below is the original song:
youtube
And these are all covers:
youtube
youtube
youtube
youtube
Also yeah, that last cover is mine, it's my blog, I can promote my content if I want to)
I hope that just by listening to these you can see how tuning can vary from individual to individual. Its all a matter of how you control the parameters of the singer.
So yeah, I yapped enough so I'm gonna end this infodump right here. I'm not surprised if you guys are still confused, so I'm going to leave some helpful resources down below as these people are better at explaining shit than I am.
youtube
youtube
youtube
My next post will involve some common terminology used in the VOCALOID community, such as “VSQx”, or “pitchbending”.
Goodbye for now!

back on dat bullshit but let me tell you about MAFUYU because everyone else is wrong and i am right all the time. also empty sekai rant LMAO
bc like OWN is so cool for her ??? but ??? it's only mentioned like once ??? like WHERE DID IT GO ??? did mafuyu just stop producing for it and said "okay. no more OWN :skull:" or does she still compose music for it ??? sega tell me PLEASE
also. i am so all over all time every time Kaito and Mafuyu. Because I feel like Kaito kind of represents Mafuyu at the beginning of the game ? but like XTreme.
ALSO THE VIRTUAL SINGERS ??? IN THE SEKAI ??? ok so listen to my crazy silly guy theory. basically we know the virtual singers are always created to help, or at least cater to the desire of the people who make the sekai. and all the younger vocaloids (miku, rin, len) are pretty chill p cool. like they don't cause problems. BUT THE OLDER RANGE OF VOCALOIDS (Kaito Meiko ) are all kind of ??? causing problems on purpose type vibe ??? and I feel like this is kind of because Mafuyu inherently has more trust in people her age than older people bc it's just like her mother !! people like her mom and teachers and everyone else are constantly ruining her so of course she's not going to trust the 20 yrs bc they're older so she sees them as authority figures of sorts yknow ? i mean like compare niigo kaito, meiko and luka to wxs kaito and meiko tsukasa seems to put full trust in authority to the point of delusion (gonna drop that rant later) and his virtual singers reflect that bc they're both very guiding and nurturing.
YUO MAY BE WONDERING WHY I LEFT OUT LUKA BUT I HAVE A REASON bc like !! i think luka (at least in wonderland sekai and empty sekai [I'm comparing just these two bc they're both made by one person also i only really read those two stories but im planning on reading mmj !!]) kind of represents classmates. i feel like i need to just. make a different post about this bc there is so much i want to say about her. i'm not even a big luka fan but yknow
anyways yeah. empty sekai interesting

Hi :D
(Last Update; Nov/11/2024)
Hi, I’m PixelDoodles, but you can just call me Pixel.
I use she/her pronouns.
Strawpage lol
I’m in a lot of fandoms, but my main hyperfixations at the moment are the OSC (Object Show Community) and Gravity Falls (and also I’ve been getting into vocaloid lately).
I usually just reblog things or say whatever pops into my head, but I also like to draw and will occasionally post fanart!
I stand with Palestine 🇵🇸
DNI: the basic dni list, such as but not limited to proshippers, zionists, terfs, pedos, those who prejudice against others. Also people who make me uncomfortable. I tend to block at random or at immediate contact, so beware.
Please interact: People in my fandoms, people who like the same characters I do, and Mutuals.
Please do not any me for donations. I truly want to help as much as I can, but I am unable to donate, as I do not have any money. Please do not take this personal.
I’m a bit quiet compared to other people, so if we’re mutuals and we don’t interact, don’t take it personal; I just suck at human interaction :(
I don’t mind inbox stuff tho. However if we’re not mutuals then stay away from the DMs.
Tagging System:
#the speakerrr: Me speaking. I just saying whatever my brain thinks is alright.
#my posts: Anything I post.
#my art: Very different from #my posts. It is exclusively my art.
#self destruct posts: Posts that I’ll probably delete soon.
#vague posting: There is no way to tell what I am yapping about. This is usually paired with self destruct posts.
To get a better grasp of my personality, my kin list includes:
Remote (BFDI)
Clock (BFDI)
ENA (ENA)
Four (BFDI)
X (BFDI)
Bive (Regretevator)
Napstablook (Undertale)
Teardrop (BFDI)
Ice Cube (BFDI)
There are a lot more characters but I don’t feel like adding them so here are the main ones. Yeah, there’s a lot of BFDI. This show has taken over my life.
BFDI fascinates me. I am very hooked on the lore. Also, as you can see on my banner, I also really like the EXIT and the EXITors. I know the story ended, idc I love them.
Music taste jumpscare. This isn’t important I just wanted to share it.
I am neurodivergent (ADHD) and lgbtq+ (idk lol). And a minor so nothing weird.
I hope you have a nice day :]
Bye :3

Tell Your World
Hard
Gameplay
youtube
Feel
I’m actually kinda pleased by the feel for this chart.
Tumblr media
This bit in the very beginning is pretty enjoyable, and for a hard chart? This is good. 4/5
Medium
Nothing to say here. 3/5
Interest
This is where it loses me. There’s nothing interesting about this chart. Sure, I could pick out moments that I had fun with, or patterns that I enjoy, but in the end, I just don’t find the chart interesting at all. 1/3
Overall Score: 8/13
Expert
Gameplay
youtube
Feel
It doesn’t do much, but it’s not egregious.
Tumblr media
This bit is nice to play. 3/5
Medium
Man… Nothing… happens here. Like, it feels so… basic. This feels like a hard chart got its hands on expert patterns. 2/5
Interest
Again, it just doesn’t capture my attention. I don’t like playing this chart. 1/3
Missed Potential
I know they can do better. I am referring to the entire chart when I say this. There are so many level 22  songs that do better than this. Come on. -1
Overall Score: 5/13
Master
Gameplay
youtube
Feel
Normal as fuck. 3/5
Medium
Had moments I liked and moments I hated, so it averages out. 3/5
Interest
It actually held my attention… yayy… 2/3
Missed Potential
Tumblr media
Go play Reborn, come back, and tell me these gold hold notes have anything to say. These hold notes belong in an expert chart. This is boring. -1
Overcharting
Tumblr media
This triad is not present in the song. You could totally add a little spice here without making shit up. They did not. -1
Overall Score: 6/13
What an abysmal note to start off on.
Okay I’m exaggerating but man, I dislike the Tell Your World charts. They feel so lacking compared to the other charts. And yeah, I know it’s literally the very first chart and they’ve gotten more and more interesting with each passing year, and yeah I know it’s the tutorial and yeah whatever rebuttal you have but like, come on Colopale. This is a beloved Vocaloid song with a fun and catchy rhythm. You couldn’t do it a little more justice?

Okay my thoughts on crypton super pack:
I think it's unfair to compare them to current more realistic AI vocals (synthV, CeVio, etc) since that's clearly not what Crypton is going for? I mean they said in an interview about NT (sorry I can't find it) that they didn't want an overly realistic AI vocal because then it would sound like Saki Fujita rather than Hatsune Miku. So I think it's pretty clear they're not trying to make ultra realistic vocals, so criticizing them because they sound voice acted is ridiculous. Also, criticizing them for being overly processed is a little silly, because like yeah I think that's what they're going for.
With all that said, though, these do sound pretty bad. I mean, they've made several vocaloid voicebanks for all of these characters before which sound way better without sounding like hyper-realistic replicas of their voice providers. Like, I think the transitions sound bad (not because it's unrealistic, but because it's choppy), I think they sound kind of nasal, etc etc
I guess what I'm saying is the voicebanks don't really need to be incredibly realistic (if they wanted realistic they would have made AI banks, be it V6 (which they are doing for Miku?) or Synthesizer V or whatever). But they should be quality? Like in the terms of quality of other concat voicebanks, like smoothness of transition, clarity of vocals, consonant noise, etc. It kind of just sounds like they took NT renders/data and threw it into vocaloid and sold it as New Super Pack...
I mean I think you should have at least some standard of quality if you're selling these... Although they are somewhat discounted (apparently the pack is 23,100 yen, typical vocaloid voicebank ~11,220 yen). I mean, still if you're selling a product you shouldn't just be selling trash? I'm not like extremely outraged (I think other vocaloid companies have sold trash for much higher prices and worse) but I think it's a little bit... idk.
I mean, to me it's just that these specific characters have multiple better voicebanks (released years ago) so it's kind of disappointing that the new banks are worse quality than like Vocaloid 3.... I mean the old voicebanks are still able to be bought and used, so like what's the point of releasing worse versions now you know?
I mean, I'm sure you could make these voicebanks sound good. Like I've heard NT sound good, and I dislike NT lol. Pretty much any half-decent voicebank can sound good with enough effort in the hands of the right person.
I'll also say, I don't think just saying "the characters voices sound different now" is a valid quality complaint. Like it's a reason to dislike them, but it's not really a valid criticism of the quality of the voicebanks? Like I think Luka/Meiko sounding like Miku is only a really "valid" product criticism for 2 potential reasons:
1. Makes the superpack worth less, since three vocals sound similar 2. They could have potentially reused Miku's recordings for Luka and Meiko which is obviously bad because they said these are 3 SEPARATE VOICEBANKS?
However, I honestly don't think they used Miku's recording for Luka or Meiko (I think it's more of the way they processed the voicebanks similarly, or maybe used Miku as the basis for the NT platform). And these voices do sound distinct, like Meiko & Luka still have some of their distinct sound in there (but like mixed with Miku lol).
What I'm saying is that "sounds choppy and low quality" and "voices sound very similar" are valid criticisms of the Super Pack, while "I don't like that they sound different now" is more of a personal opinion (valid to complain about, but still)

SHUNRAN BY JOHN IS ABOUT NPD!!!
Hi it’s me I’m back with more absolutely infallible and correct interpretations of Vocaloid songs. Today: Shun-ran/Spring Storm by John! And we’re going to be talking about how I relate it to my narcissism so if you believe in narc abuse or armchair diagnose people with NPD or use narcissist as an insult you can fuck right off <3 And here’s a link to the song in case you haven’t heard it!
I’m not going to waste time on putting together a “story” that I think the song follows because to me it reads more like a character analysis, so I’m just going to start and go line by line. Also shoutout to whoever on narcissisticpdcultureis submitted an ask saying NPD culture is this song, because it made me realize holy fuck yeah it is. Translation I use is by Releska!
“I was covered in false images, just like God.”
Starting off with a fucking bang holy shit? This line alone to me speaks about grandiose fantasies, unreachable dreams of money and success and power and being admired. In the end these dreams become unreachable as they’re either too grandiose to become a reality or I do nothing to actually work towards the dream, so they’re all just false images. I prop myself up to be God, and I compare myself to a god in my fantasies, yet it’s all fake. This line has another meaning when coupled with the rest of its verse however:
“I was covered in false images, just like God.
You youkai give me the creeps
pretending to know how I really feel.”
To me, now this line is just in general pretending to be something you aren’t. I imagine ‘youkai’ is a way to refer to other people and dehumanize them / paint them as ‘lesser.’ Often I catch myself insisting people are just misunderstanding my words, that they are trying to see how I ‘really feel,’ but I’m covered in layers and layers of false images—so they can’t reach how I really feel. Regardless of if their interpretation is right or not, I use this excuse to avoid analyzing myself and my faults, and to paint the other person as bad—as giving me the creeps, as being weird about me. I’m untouchable, like a god, so others can’t know what I really feel.
“Even if I grasped something and used it to destroy the illusion
and cool my feelings, it would be sheer stupidity.
I won’t pay attention to small fry.”
The illusion here is likened to both interpretations of false images (grandiose fantasies and pretending to be what you’re not). ‘Grasped something’ speaks to me about how it’s near unimaginable to end up destroying the illusion, so you can’t even say what you’d be destroying it with. And it would be ‘sheer stupidity’ because these illusions hold up my self-esteem, the image that I am God. The last line is pretty direct: painting others as lesser so you don’t have to pay attention to them or take their criticism.
“For one such as I, affecting composure, to speak
is because I become angry easily, watching hawk-like for my chance.”
The egotism in the first line is so hard that I don’t think I even have to explain it. More the focus here is on the second line, saying that the reason the narrator speaks is because they become angry easily. The second part of that line speaks to me about watching for a chance to prop your ego up once again, whether that be through receiving praise or bragging or whatever. And it makes you become angry easily, because as soon as you don’t get what you want, it’s like you blow up with a snap of the fingers.
“I summoned the spring storm and then cried. My heart was wounded.
‘That’s a sign of vanity, you know?’
Whatever you say. I already get it, though.”
Spring is a beautiful season: it’s when everything starts to grow back and life starts anew. So a storm in spring sets up a contradictory image. To me this describes a love-hate relationship with people, where other people are the amazing things which make you feel so good about yourself by admiring people, yet they are the same things which cause you to crash and hate yourself. ‘The spring storm’ in this song is like getting backlash from people for your toxic behavior, and your heart ends up wounded because this time they’re right and you can’t cover yourself up in false images and illusions anymore. But you shrug off their words about your vanity, because of course, you already get it, because of course you would already get it.
“My breaths will surely grow smoky and appear on the things blocking my view.
They say that praying to be loved
is a sin. It has such a sweet scent.”
There are already obstacles blocking your view, but I interpret this first line as your own breath coming to block your view as well. There’s already a heavy bit of something blocking a healthy view of the world, but you end up sabotaging yourself as well. The last two lines are pretty clear-cut: praying to be loved excessively may be bad, but it’s so alluring to the narrator that they can’t help it.
“Once we drink up the rippling cider, let’s say goodbye.”
‘Rippling cider’ is a pretty vivid, inviting image, and to me this line speaks about enjoying one last moment with someone before you say goodbye to them forever—as the line in Japanese uses ‘sayonara.’
“My thoughts have dried up. Where’s God in that?
My rage and other such things vanished long ago
but though I perform my act, I’m ignorant.”
Since this is after the chorus, ‘dried-up thoughts’ here is likely referencing the beginning of the song, so the grandiose fantasies here have ‘dried up’ or become boring/useless. Yet still, the narrator is trying to prop themselves up to an image of God, but they just can’t find it. Earlier in the song the narrator expresses becoming angry easily, but now things like their rage have vanished. They still keep up their egotistical act however, they keep up their mask, but on the inside they’re ignorant—to me this signals that things like their rage are still around, just that they’re now ignorant to the concept.
“Still, this story is still going
because I wish for it to reach you,
listening constantly.”
Simple as: the narrator wants to be understood deep down, so they keep going.
“I pledged a ceasefire. My personality peeled off and fell
because I have the courage to accept disappointment.”
Pledging a ceasefire here to me is to ask for the toxicity to end, for things to become good again, but it doesn’t happen as the narrator becomes disappointed that it doesn’t stop. Before in the first pre chorus the idea was expressed that we blow up when we don’t get what we want, but here the narrator surrenders to the idea that this toxicity will be going on forever. They don’t blow up at this despite it being contradictory to their narcissism, so it’s like their personality has peeled off.
(then the chorus repeats twice)
“I summoned you on purpose. I died—my heart rotted to nothing.
‘That’s a sign of vanity, you know?’
Whatever you say. I already get it, though.”
Now the conflict becomes directly confrontational: they’re not summoning a backlash from the people they love anymore, they’re just directly summoning a person. They’re now acknowledging the person that has been causing the ‘spring storm’ all along. But this directness inflames the fear of failing and rejection and disappointment to the point where the narrator feels like they die. And once again, it’s a sign of vanity, but the narrator already understands this.
“I called you an idiot. Like smoke, you made me uncomfortable. I looked at you and woke up.”
They say that praying to be loved
is a sin. It has such a sweet scent.”
In the toxicity occurring between the narrator and this other person, the narrator tries to attack the other person, but they can’t hold up their egotistical better-than-everyone image anymore with the direct confrontation between themselves and the other person. They become uncomfortable as they are forced to face themselves, and they wake up. Once again it repeats that the narrator is nearly addicted to the love and praise that others give them, but this time with the context of the first line it’s a more bittersweet image.
“Once we drink up the rippling cider, let’s say goodbye.
We’ll say goodbye and if we fall in love again, let’s smile together.”
The image of saying goodbye after one final good moment repeats. The final line ends with the narrator accepting the end of the relationship, saying that if the love ever comes back in the future they’ll enjoy their time together again. It’s almost a call for help, a call for the good to come back to the relationship, but it’s already over.
Anyway this song will forever be about NPD and the toxic interpersonal struggles that come with it, thank you and goodbye

huzzah! 2023 art review!
Tumblr media
it’s almost the end of the year, wowzers! i always do one of these art review thingies since i always like looking back at the art ive made :> last year i posted the review on my other account and left it at there, but this year i want to actually review each month and notable pieces i made… just for fun!
this post is very much just for me lol, but i hope someone out there enjoys it. month-by-month review + previous year in reviews will be under the cut! 🩷
(also, shoutout to tumblr for going rouge and posting this way way earlier than i had scheduled 😍 luckily tumblr post editor is weirdly based and kept all my embedded links when i pasted it from the old one? hell yeah)
Jan: started off the year with a painting of my beloved ocs after ending last year with one! (and i will be talking about my older year in reviews, rest assured). this was my obligatory cute shared scarf art, and i wanted to try attempting to render something more involved like two characters and draping cloth. i don't think the result was too shabby, though this was before i discovered my favorite rendering brush for procreate, so in hindsight, it looks kinda flat and boring now. where's all the crunch? ah but anyway, starting a whole year with your art in a mid place compared to what you made later on is par for the course.
Feb: probably the month where i had the least art to put here, i remember scraping a little to find one. this was a chrobin piece i made in my sketchbook! nothing too noteworthy... i think i tried doing a slightly different approach to coloring with markers (applying the color before the lineart) and incorporating paint, but i remember this one giving me trouble. first of all, the size i drew this in was really small (it was in a small sketchbook and i decided to mask the margins with comparatively wide masking tape), and second of all the paper was absolutely NOT built for gouache, so it ended up a kind of wrinkly and muddy mess. i mean i'm still not the best with gouache now but still, not my best.
March: a redraw of a robin piece i made back when i was still on amino. i probably won't share the old versions because they're crap, so just trust me on the redraw part. anyway, the last iteration of the concept was in 2019 i think? and while i was proud of it for a while, its luster finally faded and i decided to try doing it again in procreate. this was when i discovered my love for the soft chalk brush in the jingsketch basics brush pack. for a while i've been using the hard render brush in that pack to render, but this one's texture and chalkiness totally changed the game. i was in love!! also tried to be a little more crazy and vibrant with how i applied the base colors, using saturated colors across the board. this process didn't consistently stick, but i think it yielded some neat results here. another hit from this month was my piece of grandmaster robin, since i'm really proud of the detail here!.
Apr: guys, april was MY MONTH! i remember making so much art in just a few weeks, something just clicked in my brain i guess. i chose my drawings of hagane rin and len since this was when i truly began to get comfy in my lineart era (after the grandmaster drawing). this month was full of detailed line drawings at that, but this one was what made me both enjoy the process a lot and do more of it. hell yeah. other hits: vocaloids at mcdonald's (i drew a background omg!!!), alice in ny fanart (just the euphoria of finally nailing a composition for this piece after struggling with it in november was great), and the end-world normopathy fanart (it's a line drawing, and a traditional one at that. i was happy with incorporating gold accents into my typically monochromatic style when it comes to my line-focused drawings as well as getting tamari's mechanical details nailed).
May: hell yeah. evil power couple time. this one was another line-art heavy one since i thought it fit the vibe. the softer colors in the background i feel like could have been executed a little better, but i do like how this came out, especially the armor (good god fe armor is a pain to render, but i think i've gotten better at it this year! middle school me would be so jealous). not much else to say here. Other hit this month would be my alice of human sacrifice fanart, another line-heavy traditional drawing. i think it turned out nice, especially for a crammed composition lol.
Jun: another end-world normopathy-centered fanart. i mentioned it in my og post but i was trying out a slightly different painting style where i did a black-and-white base first and then added colors as an overlay (also in the initial upload of the post i was so fucking meek about posting fanart of mariyam's alternate design teased at the end of the mv?? 😭 sorry about that, i've edited it out but it's still in early reblogs. kind of cringe on my part). i didn't end up committing to this consistently cuz the beginning process was kind of tedious (plus i'm too inept to pay close attention to values anyway), but laying down all the colors after the long rendering process was rewarding! it's a nice alternative with i get bored with my other method to yield basically the same-looking result lol. this month featured some more pieces that tried using this process, like the one with my oc alice, lucina and dark pit hanging out, and f!robin's resplendent design from feh.
Jul: ah yes my typical flavor of "improvised oc art that i invent new symbolism for on the fly that i apply meaning to after i'm finished". kinda just wanted to paint something again because i've been doing a lot of line drawings lately and to go back to my old painting process again. honestly, i mainly picked this one because i wanted more oc art and non-lineart drawings to be in this chart lol. art i made this month that i'm real proud of is this family pic of some young cryptonloids (i really like how the colors came out on this one!) and my birthday drawing for miku's sweet 16, which was originally completed this month. i opted out of considering it for my july art to avoid confusion. also also, this very whack pathological facade fanart (plus some doodles i didn't post) opened my eyes to the beautiful world of NOISE and HALFTONES and just slapping crazy textures onto my art like nobody's business. hell yeah.
Aug: ok this one is kind of another piece i picked to represent this month that isn't quite my favorite but i chose anyway for the sake of variety (in this case, i wanted more traditional pieces and non-vocaloid stuff). for once, i used my bigger sketchbook to make a big n detailed piece for my boy's new brave alt in feh (that game has zero significance to me outside of cool alt costumes for my faves). my actual fave from this month was young miku/meiko/kaito chillin in their house; i'm real proud of the background and lighting! but i still like this robin too ofc, big fan of how the colors came out ;3
Sep: another traditional drawing! felt compelled to draw kandy again, specifically her evil miitopia great sage incarnation :> this one was pretty standard in terms of process, and not much was really done to experiment. just wanted to draw something cool of my girl for my sketchbook. other fave from this month is this sketchy miku i did, i like how loose it came out and how the colors pop.
Oct: pretty palutena!~ i think i went into this trying to do something a little different with my painting process (i think it was to try incorporating more colors in the shading like the blue in the dress or more saturated colors near the focal point, but i can't remember LOL) or try rendering a more detailed character w/ a background (even if the background was pretty vague). i like this one! especially the color cohesion, it's pretty swag imo. other faves from this month was fanart i made for the song "orbit" since i also like how the color cohesion came out for this one, and the maid dress/crossover drawing i made for cringetober. no other words needed to explain why.
Nov: another digital painting! it's yet another ghost song, this time "uncanny". i really loved the aesthetic of this song, especially its bold colors and simplistic shapes, so i wanted to try capturing it in my style. i really love how the colors turned out on this, though i've yet to truly recreate what i like about this particular painting again? regardless, it's one of my faves, deserving of one of my favorite ghost songs. few other highlights from this month would be my obligatory purple robin drawing for the month, my sketchbook drawing of my luka design, and my fanart of utsu-p's song "ga". i like how i was able to do a couple of my different "styles"/processes this month rather than just sticking to just one. they all have their own feel to them that i like to play around with depending on the idea.
Dec: and finally, we're at the end. like july, we have another heavily improvised oc drawing with symbolism i came up with on the spot. that's just how i do things. anyway, this turned out really good in my opinion! i tried to stick to a color palette i saved in procreate a long time ago, and damn is it a fine palette. it helped me get a little loose with the colors and solely focus on creating a strong composition with colors and contrast rather than get hung up on sticking to typical color palettes. i also really like how i did the background by essentially using the liquify tool to swish all the colors around and then polished it a little on top. made for a really cool effect. other notable work would be the companion piece i made with my other oc that had a similar style since i liked the process of this one. there will probably be more as of when i'm drafting this (at the beginning of december) but i just wanna be finished w this post already bro
all around, very satisfied with this year. there was kind of a lot of song fanarts (something that i am somewhat guilty about because it feels like i'm unoriginal or something, but i swear it's cuz i'm really passionate about vocaloid music and need to act on what my braincells do when i listen to certain tracks), but overall i'm happy i was able to maintain some slight variety in the art i made this year through my chosen mediums and "styles" or processes i use.
this was the first year where i really wanted to have a fully rendered piece i'm proud of to represent every month. now, i wouldn't recommend this since forcing yourself to make art is not a good mindset to be in (sometimes, with how early i pushed some pieces out in certain months to get the monthly quota over with makes it seem like i'm getting paid to have a pretty year-in-review LOL). i was pretty lucky to not really have much burnout i guess?
~~~
ok now that all that boring stuff is out of the way, here’s my previous years! this is the sixth year i have made an art review chart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
lightning round review time! (probably just gonna be more boring stuff)
2018: ok, so this was the year where my prime art hosting platform was… amino… specifically smash amino. as much as i could rant about how much i hate that place now, i cant deny that it got me creating a lot of stuff. also it was an actual date archive for my traditional art because i never got in the habit of dating my physical art 🙃 uh don’t mind the absolute horrid graphic design on this one. i grabbed a template which was probably saved from a bunch of other places from amino and… didn’t really know how the formatting was supposed to work. first of all, i edited this in picsart on my phone and the chart wasn’t transparent, and second of all i didn’t know you were supposed to crop only the main focus so it could fit and be a little more clear. hence why its such a visual eyesore. i've been meaning to remake it to make it a little less bad (once i get my hands on the traditional pieces again), but i guess its shoddiness adds to its charm, much like amino. but anyway, 2018 was a bit of a turning point year for me in the smash amino art biz. on amino, i mostly made copies of official artwork from smash (character renders and so forth), and this year i actually tried experimenting with my own original ideas and scenes (my copying roots were still around at this time tho, seen in the november drawing which is based on ssbu’s mural art. i mainly moved on to copying artwork from feh). this was also the year i got my ipad and finally got into making digital art. i didn’t have the knowledge of digital art that i have today obviously, so colors and lighting were usually on the plain side. i also hit my stride with making more ambitious traditional art that incorporated backgrounds and such, and they’re pieces i’m still really proud of!
2019: so, i actually made this chart some time in 2021 or 22 because i didnt make an actual chart in 2019 officially (i forgor). which bums me out because i deleted my amino account by then, so a lot of dates for traditional pieces were flushed down the toilet the one time i needed them. so, to compensate, i tried scraping any digital piece i could to fill in some spaces, which is why some are more underwhelming than others. but yeah since this isn’t fully accurate to my art progress that year, 2019 is a bit fuzzy. main thing of note that year is midway through i got really REEAALLY into fire emblem: three houses and drew a lot of art of the characters (not shown much on the chart because they were mostly sketches and whatnot). imo there’s not much improvement or stylistic changes from 2018 in this year to note. 2020 on the other hand…
2020: if it wasn’t clear, this was my jojo phase. i got into jojo at the end of 2019 and my downward spiral into jojo hell bled into 2020 :p as such, i made a lot of jojo art. and because i made a lot of jojo art, this was the year where my style shifted drastically. i feel like it’s a common phenomenon for artists getting a total stylistic makeover after getting into jojo. whether it’s to imitate araki’s style or just trying to accommodate the characters’… features, i ended up facing the same thing. gone were big round heads with tiny mouths and in were tree trunk necks and higher effort placed in learning anatomy, both for the full body and well as the face. it was around may of this year i got procreate and moved on from ibis paint for digital art. while i still have my personal hangups with procreate, im glad i ended up investing in it since it really just works for me!!
2021: around summer 2020 in peak pandemic mood, i decided to indulge in some nostalgia and listened to some old vocaloid tunes from my middle school days. and then i kept rediscovering more stuff, and then i ended up browsing producers' individual discographies, and uh yeah i am still suffering the consequences of my vocaloid renaissance to this day. while it wasn't prominent in the 2020 chart, it really started to leak its way into my art subjects in 2021. however, i still primarily stuck to my roots with fe/"smash"/jojo fanart. this year was mainly trying to find my style again i suppose? i had already learned the ropes of procreate, its limitations, and the options it has to aid with the art making process, so it was just a matter of flinging a bunch attempts at a ~style~ to see which one i liked the most. i did try finding a painting/rendering style a lot by way of copying (mainly guessing based on speedpaints) other artists' styles and process with digital painting which ended up growing into my own thing. i know they all sort of look the same, but march, april, and october of this year all had slightly different ways of doing all the shading n rendering for painting that i liked experimenting w/ in the future.
2022: by this point, i had fully gotten used to procreate and the methods i used to make art, and the vocaloid train had no signs of stopping. i think the main thing of note this year was that i was able to break out of the "5 million overlays of pink and purple color vomit" box my digital art was set it. while it used to amuse me when i first began abusing it in my art, i guess i just sort of grew out of it? it ended up making a lot of my art look homogeneous, and it took out the fun trial and error of picking the colors to match the atmosphere myself. i also tried to get more experimental with my compositions, mainly in trying to make them more dense with Stuff as well as finally get a little more comfortable with drawing backgrounds. besides those things however, i remember feeling my art progress was very stagnant this year, with not much noticeable change from january to december. perhaps i've gotten a bit comfortable with the state it's in. regardless, still a good year all around.
~~~
whew. THAT'S finally done with. if you made it to the end of this very me-centered ramble, congrats. i will probably make reblog additions in future years to continue this little saga. idk if i'll be as detailed as i was for the 2023 lineup, but we'll see.

i need to get this off my chest its been in me for too long
i think deco 27 songs ever since vampire and onwards don't really hit at all excluding salamander, deco really peaked there it was a very nice song
i just finished listening to his latest song, rabbit hole and compared to zombies or journey it's definitely better but it feels kinda idk maybe im just missing his less upbeat style (that's definitely the case) because all these songs feel lukewarm to me at best and i feel like the lukewarm thing can apply to many more
i also think when voca-p's make songs for the sake of prsk it never goes right because they release it in vocaloid with human singing in mind and i was never really a fan of the prsk covers, im sure there are some good ones but so far overall its a very hit or miss thing with most going miss
because i think in most cases vocaloid songs are sang through vocaloid for a reason and it has to be made with vocaloid in mind and majority songs made for prsk felt mid (cosmospice didn't do anything for me despite my overflowing love for Pinocchio-p)
this is a section to commend becoming potatoes YEAH NERU!!!! NERU!!!! NEVER MISSES!!!! neru is so good
i know im sounding like a huge pissed off vocaloid "i think im better than you prsk lovers, i play project diva im a real one" person but dont get me wrong i love how vocaloid is getting a revival through prsk and the new genre/style of vocaloid is booming and i have a profound respect for people who play prsk and are good at it, i can clear up til 9.5 ex/exex songs on project diva all i want but i somehow cant do shit on proseka and watching gameplay is always amazing
i do admit they bang and i like the people who are discovering or even rediscovering vocaloid due to the resurge and i do admit some human covers of vocaloid originals do them justice (ahem miyuu ahem) this is just a very in general observation
im pretty much navigating through multiple topics but another thing im gonna add is nowadays i personally dont see heavy story telling based songs a lot i might be shit at finding them so if anyone sees this and think i am so wrong please prove me wrong with those sweet sweet YouTube/nico nico links but anyways things like the evillious chronicles hell not even that much even things like what hitoshizuku x yama does or the shama series
i also kinda miss how the artists draw the vocaloids themselves for the characters in the story or songs just outright about vocaloids interacting with other vocaloids like a little slice of life but i dont really want to complain too much because seeing individual and iconic designs for songs is also nice
i think thats all, my head stores a lot of thoughts towards vocaloid wait til you see me talking about MEIKO and her tuning and how i grieve for her everyday because I've found so many songs that sound nice but the way people tune her breaks the song but in the cases where she it tuned skilfully i drop down to my knees in amazement and i will stop there because i know i might spiral into this whole separate thing
so yeah i might be a hater at times,i can spend a whole 24 hours shittalking corn (I'll get on that some day) but you know what I'm not a hater of?
schoolmizzy, more people need to know their songs oh my god just amazing shit right there simplistic yeah but good stuff and only 1.6k subscribers im fucking crying man

idk why but sekai fans who exclusvley like the male characters is a red flag, statistically speaking at least one of your top 4 characters would be not them
i'm not entirely sure what prompted this ask but yeah i agree with you anon. having them as your top 4 is certainly a decision that reads a certain way. like i get there's some people who probably totally innocently are boys oshis but on the other hand it can be outright misogyny, especially if you only like the boys.
it's weird how despite this being a mixed gender game, specifically for the purpose of inclusivity, that people still very much try to box the characters? how to put this... i think some people, mainly on twitter, have a hard time viewing the characters as equals. like there was a whole thing on twitter about a month ago where people were going "if your fave character is one of the boys then you're not a real prsk fan" or something along those lines, and it's like. i get that male characters are generally more popular because of misogyny (not calling the individual who likes a male character a misogynist but women in fiction have been treated terribly compared to men for millenia and the misogyny here lies within patriarchal standards still embedded in the media industry) and i get that it's frustrating for women in particular and especially since there are only 4 boys in project sekai. but the thing is the characters' genders aren't important. i said a while ago that outside of mizuki whose arc is tied to their gender identity, it's rarely brought up. the whole reason there are both girls and boys in the game is for a wider appeal because vocaloid is for everyone. none of the characters are treated differently because of their gender in the story. the men aren't considered any more important than the girls, they are treated on an equal level.
Tumblr media
boom
in addition to that, out of universe, the writers very clearly treat the characters as equals. all of them have the same levels of effort and quality put into their stories and character arcs, how people view those arcs is up to them. no character is objectively better than another.
here's the thing. if people don't like the presence of female characters then y'know, maybe they should take a step back, think about why that is, and also not play project sekai. if people don't like the presence of male characters, there's not any issue there, but also don't play project sekai, there's plenty of similar all-female games out there that they'll probably enjoy more than one with men in it.
funny how the game can treat the characters equally regardless of gender and doesn't even view gender as something that defines the characters yet the fandom constantly brings it up as a way to divide the characters be it because they're trying to make a point about being progressive or because they're a misogynist
anyway that's my two cents. vocaloid is for everyone, opinions are subjective, and the patriarchy should burn and take all misogynists with it. gender shouldn't define how people are treated and project sekai seems to agree.

people are so shitty, you know the girl who voices Emira Blight in the owl house? yeah well she had to delete her twitter and instagram because she was getting harassed after telling people nicey not to use her voice for ai things, people need to learn how to respect boundaries if someone doesn’t want their voice use for ai stuff respect it, ai is shit anyways like who actually uses it? anything you tell an ai it steals it and posts it on the internet, idc if it’s for art or a fanfic, ai is shit and it steals things you tell it, like if you told an ai your home address it would post it everywhere on the internet
I saw it on Twitter, yeah. I feel bad for her. She lost her husband to cancer and now this. I don't know if the AI cover was monetized or not and worry that doxxing may have been involved somewhere in this, just please respect the voice actress's wishes. I don't mind if people can continue to use or make AI cover, just don't make it public. People may compare the AI covers to something like UTAU. But the difference is that with UTAU, it's a rule and courtesy to NOT give out the voicebank that is involved with a copyrighted character or real life singer. The process of making a VB too is different. It has more manual steps involving having to make individual phonetic syllabaries for whatever language voicebank one is making (CV, CVVC, VCCV English, etc). Cutting down the audio track to get that right phonic and manually tuning it to make it sound tolerable as a Jinriki UTAU.

A reason why UTAU hasn't boomed like before is that there is a lot more effort and time to make it compared to AI, which has a in-coding program compile and separate the audio for you to make it sing. Compared to UTAU, Vocaloid, or other vocal synthesizers that has you manually make the lyrics, tuning, and timing to make your VB sing. There are even real life artists that do use vocal synthesizers as well as shown here:
