Marriage in general is fucked in the middle east..

I hate hate HATE living in a country where girls being married off at 15 is seen as something to be envious of.. is seen as something to be admired for..for fuck sakes! That's a fucking child!! I remember a classmate talking about i think a cousin of hers who's 15 who's married to a 29/30 year old man and how MUCH he LOVES her and how everyday he does her FUCKING HAIR FOR FUCKING SCHOOL!!!!

i saw a video of a 26 year old mother selling food on the street to make money and the top comment on that video was a man (sincerely) offering to marry her and he had like 100 replies of people asking him if he did it already and praising him for it..

And you know what's annoying is when i try to point out how fucked up those things are.. I'm almost always in the minority, I'm almost always argued against and people try to justify something like this by being like "this is our culture"....

fuck this culture and religion because you know damn well this shit is rooted in religion.. girls married off when they hit puberty to men twice their age is seen as an accomplishment.. men being encouraged to grace widows and divorced women with their kindness and marry them like they're broken or used (even if it meant getting a second, third or a fourth wife)...

And i know to most people reading this shit it sounds like I'm making it up but I'm not and you have no idea how much i wish i was..

guess what! words have meanings and you don't get to ignore them just because someone told you antitheism is bad

"oh but my religion X is super chill/progressive unlike religion Y which is bad and stinky"

impressive! now let's see what happens when:

- its followers hold the majority of political power

- an ex-follower chooses apostasy

- a woman wants to divorce her husband or get an abortion or have a self-sufficient income or use birth control or dress how she wants or have a safe space or leave home without a man or go to school or

- an indigenous people(s) is not willing to follow the religion in question

- queer and/or trans people want to exist in peace

"i know my religion X has a lot of nastiness but i pinky swear my particular denomination is cool"

i honestly don't care; you're the one who believes it so it's your job to fix it.

finally, if a law protecting human rights conflicts with a religious tradition, then that says more about the religion than the law.

PS: if you left a religion that harmed you, don't you dare self-censor your valid criticisms/flat-out dislike of that religion in the name of "respecting beliefs". keep being strong and godless you sexy bastard <3

Contrary to an orthodox belief in some rigid faiths that women cannot be liberated, I believe it is easier for women to be liberated.

A woman’s body and psychology is designed in such a way that it gives her an advantage in this journey.

Nature gave her a womb, and the psychological system to support it. The strongest rulers of the world, the god men are all born from her. Her womb and blood is the source of all power and strength in the world.

She as a mother is also the most compassionate, loving and resilient. There is no energy in this universe stronger than love. Shiva is incomplete without the female divine energy referred as Shakti, and Vishnu without Parvati. No service, devotion or Bhakti is complete without love. There is no spiritual realisation or liberation without love.

A self-realised woman, has realised her female divine energy as an embodiment of love and compassion. For this reason, all female deities in India are worshipped as Ma (meaning mother). Love comes naturally to her in her spiritual journey, as she sees the world as her children. And this going beyond the discrimination between what is hers and what is not, liberates her from the cycle of karma.

Love is the key to liberation!

God, reading about and listening to podcasts about queer history it's disappointing to see that people have been infighting about the same shit for years

#Harry Hay and the others had the right idea when they formed the Mattachine Society #but of course the conservative assimilation gays got into and drove him out #beacause Hay was trying to spread the word about queer history and the very real culture that was there #and the conservatives were saying 'oh no we're just like straight people! we have to dress and act straight!'#'also we can't have any communist links cus the lavender scare! even though the communist party doesn’t like gays either!'#anyways Harry eventually embraced his femme side and founded the radical faeries #(Michael and Emmet attend a gathering in queer as folk and it's cool af)#but yeah Mattachine was cool but it died for a reason #and got all but replaced by the Gay Liberation Front post Stonewall #the podcast is Queer Serial btw #there was a really fascinating episode with a radio interview of three self described transexual women and a cop #who was actually trying to help and promote their cause #(very rare)#but my god it's sad how relevant it still is today #queer history #lgbtqia+ history #queer

just finished Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky

#god he's such a MALE writer #can't believe people actually like this book #like I enjoyed some sideplots and characters but the overall thesis of the novel is just...#fyodor be like #dimitri is a hedonist like his father and a piece of shit but the poor babyboy gets sent to jail when innocent boo hoo #ivan is an atheist and a western influence of liberalism so fvck him he's the murderer and the devil actually #and ofc alyosha the orthodox christian who is THE MOST PASSIVE CHARACTER WHO DOESN'T KNOW SHIT AND DOESN'T DO SHIT IS THE BEST BOY EVER #it's almost like a celebration of nativity and ignorance and a condemnation of knowledge #god #fvck this book #and I can't even start to talk about the way he write women #he really was like all the women are insufferable femme fatals and all the mothers are dead and also women have to cure men of their demons #at least we can read it as a perfect portrait of the horrendous world men create #suffer under its rules and terrors #and then cry about their suffering whose sole authors are men themselves #the only character who interested me was ivan but fyodor thinks of him as the devil of the novel so there is that #and i suffer #brothers karamazov #fyodor dostoyevsky #m
