Not fic related, but what can you say about the issue surrounding hc? Some say its lost in translation but idk what to believe. I'm not fluent in Korean after all. I'm quite on the heavy side, so seeing haechan say such words, as his fan, is uncomfortable...

i tried to find an ask i was sent about a similar issue but it was jeno talking to haechan a few months ago, because my answer will be the same i gave that day. unfortunately it was on cc and cc doesn't allow to look for old tweets, nor is twitter helpful in any way so i'll try to answer again.

first of all, it's completely normal to feel uncomfortable. those are your feelings and they're valid. your feelings are separate from the intentions of the person who said those words, so no matter what you're entitled to feeling hurt if you feel like your bias might be fatphobic and no one should be telling you otherwise. in any case, feeling disappointed is not wrong because as many people are saying he is a public figure and his words can reach (and hurt) many people.

this said, as someone who lives in korea, i do understand why some people who are korean are saying his words are being greatly exaggerated by ifans. korean people constantly comment on other people's weight. it's to the point that i think it's a way for them to make small talk. just like they ask people if they have eaten when they want to ask how they're doing, food is often used in connection to health. when people haven't seen you for a long time they usually tell you that you've gained or lost weight as well (happened many times with me) and people do tell others to eat well as a good health wish. that's why i think that telling people to get in shape and take care of your body does not necessarily mean that he thinks they are fat, it's just a way to say take care of your health. imo it would be wrong to read a deeper meaning in it.

back to my previous point. does that make your hurt unnecessary? no, because you can get hurt even he didn't mean to say something hurtful. if you get run over by a car it doesn't matter whether the driver meant to do it or not.

but i don't accept the narrative that hc is a terrible person who judges the members' bodies because he is fatphobic, and anyone believing this has clearly never lived in korea, where the kind of sentences he said are as common between friends (especially male friends) as using the weather to make small talk. if you want a real example, i dare you to look at the other nct dream members. all of them have, in other instances, made comments that according to our standards would be judged "fatphobic" while they were talking among each other. do we stan a group of assholes or are we going to acknowledge that there might be a certain degree of cultural difference at play between the way we consider acceptable to talk about other people's bodies and the way they do it?

i'd like to add something i said when this issue happened with jeno and haechan was called fat instead. i'm not haechan's babysitter. he doesn't need me to defend him when he's talking with his friends. if what is said among them is problematic, i'm sure they are all old enough to talk among themselves and solve the problems. what they don't need is some fans (often solo stans or akgae) inventing a narrative in their head, analyzing reactions to support their theories and then proudly saying "member x is an asshole" and deciding that they, as strangers, know their friendship better than dream, the actual group of friends. and this is just to get rt and likes, for the drama. it's meaningless to always praise dream for having a genuine relationship but then distort every single instance of genuine reaction we get from them just to make a hit tweet. if jn and jm were annoyed by that comment, i trust them to say something among each other without everyone butting in blindly.

finally, i'm sorry that as a haechan fan he disappointed you. i do think what he said is wrong. i think he should've minded his words better. i don't like when he says stuff like that. i don't believe he wants to be hurtful, but at the same time i don't think he saw a problem with what he was saying because most people around him don't. not only the other members, but also the staff, his family, other celebrities. it's alright being disappointed, but i hope we can all be realistic and stop pinning the weight of a behavior that is widely normalized on a single idol every time something like this happens.

I hope I explained myself properly. It's a delicate issue, and as a fan I have to juggle between dealing with my own feelings of disappointment and seeing many comments of people who are inventing things or being hurtful just because they finally have a good pretext to do it.

Question unrelated to fics/ateez but since you’re in Korea I was wondering if you speak Korean? I’d love to visit in the future but honestly only have a very basic understanding of Korean and that makes me nervous to travel there so if you have any tips on like communicating I would love to hear them! OKAY NOT TO SCARE YOU OBVIOUSLY BUT i would say that im like ... B1 level w korean hehe this is embarrassing af but i definitely thought that i was better than i am JLKFJSDLFKD getting here HUMBLED ME so fast ... like i normally watch kdramas w just korean subtitles and comprehend it well enough as long as the vocab isn't too obscure or specific and i can read ... alright ... like probably not a newspaper but the average like. fancafe announcement or whatever i can read ... BUT THE ISSUE COMES W LISTENING AND SPEAKING . without subtitles ... my ass is lost. like i feel like im only getting the gist of whats being said to me and not what's actually being said like . 75% of the time (and a lot of the time i have straight up no idea) . and when i DO fully understand what's being said it takes me a few seconds to process and by then the person talking assumes idk what's going on LJKSKDLF and i can speak ... pretty okay i think it just takes me a few seconds to put sentences together which obviously isnt natural speech at all and it makes having a convo pretty awkward/hard ... BUT LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN . this really only goes for like ... school related conversations ive had . basic interactions are SO easy tbh

SO LIKE THAT ALL BEING SAID . you really dont have to interact w korean people all that much if you're just traveling/visiting . like ... only when you're at a store or restaurant are you really speaking/listening and from what i've encountered in seoul most places/people are really nice and/or accommodating to foreigners !! like they'll be patient w you and try their best to explain something if you're not understanding (side note. i am NOT a partier [imagine that] so idk anything about clubs/bars lol but id assume its the same tbh) !! i was super super nervous about this at first bc like . obviously you dont want to look dumb . but ive encountered literally 0 rude people and its really not all that hard to communicate even if your korean isnt super amazing hehe hand gestures go a long way fr ! and if you can speak just a little bit it definitely goes a long way hehe

tips from someone thats lived here for 6 days:

1. at least know how to read hangul or you're really gonna be lost

2. at a store the cashier is gonna say like 5 or 6 things MAX to you in this exact order (1) hello [안녀하세요] (2) do you need a bag [포장이 필요하세요?] (3) how are you paying (and they wont ask if you have your card in your hand) [계산은 어떻게 하시겠습니다?] (4) do you have a membership (only at like big chains lol and half the time they dont ask if you're outwardly foreign) [멤버십은 있으세요? or like 포인트를 적립하세요?] (5) do you want a receipt [영수증이 필요하세요?] (6) thank you and goodbye [감사합니다 안녕히가세요] and like . 2/3rds of the time theyll just ask you in english if you want a bag or receipt . and if you have no clue what they're saying you can just say 아니요 to every question and it'll probably be fine JSKFJSLDFK

3. in a restaurant when the 이모님 looks expectantly at you hold up however many people are with you on your fingers and she'll hook you up and then feel free to just point at the menu to order or spice it up w the "[blank] [number of servings you want]개 주세요" and then they'll probably ask if you want a drink or tell you if the water & side dishes are self serve [반찬이고 물은 셀프입니다] ! if you have any dietary restrictions make sure you know how to ask if there's anything in the food lol like i dont eat pork so ill ask like [혹시 이갓에 돼지고기 들어가 있어요?] if im sus but most of the time itll say what meat you're getting when you order food lol but you can also say like [혹시 이것에 돼지고기 빼 줄 수 있을까요?] to ask them to take something out (LAKJSDFDLKSJ SORRY IDK HOW GOOD YOUR KOREAN IS SO JUST TO BREAK THAT DOWN YOU SAY LIKE "혹시 [food you're ordering]에 [thing you dont eat] 들어가 있어요?" if that makes sense KLAJLSDKFJF)

4. at a cafe or like fastfood restaurant the menu will typically be numbered and again you can just ask for the number ... and like one of my roommates is lactose intolerant so she asks if they have other milks sometimes just by going 무슨 우유가 있어요? and we dont know if thats the right way to ask but they know what we're trying to ask KJSFLKDJF

5. overall tip is to just ... not be nervous lol like yes i still vibrate when im interacting w someone in any context bc im so nervous theyll say something idk but ... its really not the end of the world if you dont get 100% of whats happening ! and like the milk thing like ... theyll get what you're trying to say most of the time ! and people are very nice ! and in seoul a lot of workers honestly speak basic english and/or will try their best to help you regardless of the language barrier

6. also the subway and buses all make announcements in korean and then in english so dw about that (also the kiosks where you can buy tmoney cards have an english option) (as do most kiosks here lol)

7. papago translator is a godsend

SO YEAH SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG WINDED IDK ALKSDJFKASDJFKL feel free to ask anything else lol i hope this was helpful and overall i highly recommend coming and i think you would definitely be fine even if you didnt speak any korean at all tbh :]

and also one more side note I am white which clearly impacts how people treat me here and I'm sure other foreigners might have different experiences but this has been mine !!

“why cant i just stay home~” I whined to my friend on the phone. Long story short my bf- lemme clear it up, my EX bf broke up with me not to long ago, my friends are trying to convine me to go to the club. Keyword: TRYING!!

“Well first you have to get out of that hell hole” I looked around seeing my dirty clothes with dishes in my room, shes not wrong

“second, you might find a new guy~” i hate how she said it in a teasing tone.

“and last but not least, you’ll never get over him unless you leave that shit.” I groaned, maybe she was right, i wont get over him. he was the best out of all my exes, i loved him truly the most. it makes me sad to think he didnt think the same abt me..

“oooh yea its for both of us, i kinda thought you might wanna try a good dress for once” She giggled and i rolled my eyes playfully grabbing one, they were both revealing, one was dark red short dress it showed cleavage and most of your leg, and the other was a two peice dark purple top that matches with a dark purple skirt, both had glitter. (i’ll show the dresses at the end or make up your own dress :) )

You tried them on and chose one, it showed your body perfectly, making you look so sexy. Your friend whistled at you and smirked teasingly

“hehe you def pull bitches. Anyways i dont know why my mom named me bitches” she laughed at her own joke as i looked at her like she was a physco. we did our makeup and all and got things prepared and made our way to the club.

it was so crowded, everyone was drinking. even me, maybe i drank to much cause i met a group of friends and i started dancing with them, grinding on every person any chance i get, girls, guys.. anybody. I ended up grinding on a guy who grinded back on me. i may or may not have grinded harder, i pressed my back against his chest. even tho we were at a club were mostly everyone loses control, he was really respectful, making sure not to touch uncomfortable places. He grabbed my chin so i can look at him m, i only got a few seconds before his friends called him.

“Soobin! Where are you?” He turned around to see where the voice is coming from.

“Im here! I’ll be right back” He turned to me while saying the last sentence. I had no idea what he said but i have a feeling we wont be meeting again soon..

y'all i am losing my entire fucking mind

so if you know me like, at all, you know that i am absolutely obsessed with theatre, especially musical theatre, and lately, I've been trying to study foreign musical theatre, especially Asian musical theatre (which is entirely due to the Korean Hamlet rock opera, which i discovered like three years ago and listened to on repeat even though i had no idea what anyone was saying lmao). ANYWAY i've found as of late that Korea has numerous musicals based on Western classic literature, which fucks because 1) musical theatre 2) most of those stories would be made better by being musicals but western musical theatre either won't do them or fucks them up (like there's a Dorian Gray musical??? i've been waiting for one of those for fucking ages???? help)

so today i am going to talk about the Korean musical Frankenstein (프랑켄슈타인 ), which will be opening Nov. 12, 2021, and running through February of 2022 at the Bluesquare Shincard Hall (if you have a chance and can go see it for me, please do) and how fucking GALAXY BRAINED IT IS. NOTE: I am not a Korean speaker, nor do I have any connections to the culture, so if I make an error or say anything offensive, please let me know (My credentials are that I have a degree in theatre and have read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein an unfortunate amount of like four times). Also these are my personal opinions and interpretations of the text, so don't take them as fact, and feel free to discuss your own interpretations!!

The show was first written and directed by Wang Yongbum, with musical composition and direction by Lee Seongjun, in 2016, where it sold out its 23-show run and was given a 3-week performance extension because of how popular it was. It's since been performed 3 times, coming back to the stage in 2021 for a fourth.

As far as my knowledge goes, Korea has a fairly limited musical theatre canon, at least for original Korean musicals. Typically, when they perform musical theatre, they outsource to other countries for shows, or adapt shows from other languages for Korean audiences, which is absolutely fine, but that makes Frankenstein very exciting, because it is an original Korean show, and made by a team that is known for their original shows. They're also known for not casting kidols in productions in order to draw ticket sales, so the fact that this show did as well as it did with odds stacked against it is incredible (also the amount of tech work in this production is??? incredible).

Anyway the songs all slap and the production value is ICONIC and they double-cast every single part, which brings me to my main topic of conversation: the absolutely galaxy brained decision to make this incredibly gay and also good.

so in the original version of frankenstein, victor is a terrible disaster bastard man and i hate him. If i saw him in real life i would punch him in the face. He is gay and homophobic. a terrible person and a terrible scientist. actually the only character i like in this book is Henry, who deserves the world actually.

WHICH IS WHY THIS MUSICAL GOT ME SO HYPE!!! because they MADE HENRY A MAIN CHARACTER!!! and not only that, but they changed the script so that Victor is like, a military general, I think? idk he's tasked with creating like superhuman soldiers for the military, and since his parents died when he was young, he's got some sort of weird notion that he's cursed, so he decides to go PLUS ULTRA and just. make people. and to do this he grabs field surgeon henry dupre and is like "bitch let's make some people" and henry's like "fuck ok"

now, in the novel, victor is obviously. very into men. given the fact that he creates the most perfect man imaginable with the best proportions and all of his kinks as his creature, but then becomes disgusted with him due to his repression. BUT IN THE MUSICAL henry gets accused of murder and sentenced to death, but before he dies, he sings a whole love song to victor and they hold hands through the jail cell bars and he asks victor to use his body for science, to complete their shared goal, which UM. BITCH. THAT'S????? FUCKING ROMANTIC AS SHIT anyway here's the love song bc it's making me go insane i literally started sobbing when i watched it for the first time. not only is it gorgeous, it's also so full of love and lost dreams and the desire to stay with someone even after death? catch me crying in the club. please do yourself a favor and listen to it, it's gorgeous

Edit: I watched a version with dialogue at the beginning and basically Henry takes the fall for a murder Victor did and when victors like “why did you do that when you’ll die?” Henry says, “because you’ll live” 😭😭😭😭

BUT THEN. THEN. VICTOR HONORS HENRY'S WISHES AND USES HIS BODY TO CREATE THE CREATURE, BRINGING HIM BACK TO LIFE. WHICH. FUCK. makes SO much more sense than him just being like "oh fuk big scary monster lol" and freaking out. if he freaks out because that's his lover, the person he cares most for, and he's just sentenced him to a lifetime of being almost-human-not-quite? I'd freak out too. (Also the lab set when he’s making the monster FUCKS HARD)

(anyway then he like??? sells him to a fighting arena?? idk there's this whole dance number with them throwing henry all over the stage and chains and he gets punched a lot. very very fun you know).

i won't spoil the ending but just know that it's WAY better than the book, with like, an actually satisfying ending for both the creature and victor (satisfying plot-wise), and I'm obsessed with the changes they made, and also just how this musical is tonally and everything overall? i'm gonna start learning korean just so i can go watch theatre.

uhhhh this really wasn't that much of a post just??? i needed to scream about this??? also the love song is once again gorgeous, please go watch it if just to see how beautiful the actor playing henry in this version is

Hello, I wanted to ask aside from lessons how did you learn Korean and how long it took you to learn the basics. Thank you!

This is hard to answer cause IDK if you are planning to start or if you've already started. So I'm just gonna write this as if you haven't started at all or are maybe just working on learning hangul at the moment.

OK so I started with hangul. I had the tengugo app on android but it seems like it doesnt exist anymore or maybe they rebranded. This was around like 2017 maybe? There's probably a lot of apps for it thought especially now. Try one that has lessons AND tests so that you can actually test yourself.

If you stay on it, it should take less than a week. If you don't then it'll take longer obviously. Took me around 2 weeks cause I didn't stay consistent. Everything is much easier with hangul. Romanization is literally the devil. I never know which hangul character the "u" for example is REALLY supposed to be making. I just take a guess and most times its right but others it isn't. I've noticed other people have the same issue. (ex: jung vs yongguk vs seungyun vs seunghyun; first two are different sounds but the third and fourth can sound like the 1st one or the 2nd one)

Also, get a hangul keyboard on your phone (also available in the app stores). Try typing things in hangul when you need to type something that's is Korean. So if you're typing "oppa" then TYPE IT OUT IN HANGUL! 오빠 same thing with words like 사랑. Obviously to someone who speaks Korean or can read hangul (I just noticed I haven't taken my own advice with hangul but I don't think I've ever actually typed or written that word in hangul in my life weirdly enough LOL). Or just when you are typing songs into Spotify or apple music or Youtube! That helps A LOT if you can find the song using the English translation or romanization tbh. But over the years I've noticed most songs are searchable with romanization or English translated name. still comes in handy when its a common song name in English though!

Here's a desktop keyboard I use a lot but google translate has one as well https://www.branah.com/korean (you can also buy stickers for your keyboard but I haven't done that yet cause I don't wanna spend the money or stick them on LOL. It's not that expensive but since I have the virtual keyboards I don't really care anymore.)

BUT I WILL say that the thing that helped most was taking classes. It really kept me accountable cause I'm a master procrastinator and I never really built good study habits growing up. If you're similar then I think classes would be good for you. It forces you to do at least SOME work and studying otherwise you fail. I've also had other friends who say it's hard to find time to practice or study outside of school.

Going to Korea helped IMMENSELY as well so if you are able to study abroad and take Korean classes then definitely take it! I've talked about this before but despite almost NEVER using the language outside of class, classes helped me A LOT with speaking. Being in the country and passively listening made my listening skill improve LEAPS and bounds (NOTE: I was only there SIX weeks compared to studying in the US for close to a YEAR but hadn't improved that much here). I can at least make out a lot of words/sentences now even if I don't understand the content.

Some GREAT resources I've used are:

Integrated Korean textbooks. They are not super expensive and they have LOT of vocabulary. Only downside for some people is that they are paperbacks. My first book in the series (beginner 1) got a bit messed up because it was in my backpack on days it rained and it got wet. Also not in color. The dialogues can also be a bit short. But overall I think it's a really solid book to use especially for vocab/grammar patterns and the amount of chapters and info. One good thing is that is seems like people have already made. This is what we used at UCLA.

Yonsei Korean textbooks are GREAT as well. They are much thinner but "longer" length wise. They also have color. I think there's A LOT more dialogue in this book. They may not be all that much longer but it seems to me like there are more of them. I don't feel like it's as vocab and grammar heavy as Integrated Korean BUT I think that might be because it's split up into so many sections per chapter so it seems like less even when it's not. The pacing is just different. These are also similar price but I think it is easy to find them free online. Same as integrated Korean BUT I prefer physical books for certain things and language is one of them. (I think in some of the downloads people were missing certain pages for some reason from what I remember in class so that's another thing to watch out for).

These books also have a writing ,grammar, and reading book for each section. So I guess it can be expensive if you want all three or even two of each. I guess that's another reason they seem thinner or less packed than integrated Korean. Some info is in different books. For Yonsei Korean, I used the books while studying abroad at Yonsei. At UCLA I only used this for upper division Korea classes which were advanced and from what I remember I think it was more focused on reading/writing

For both sets of book books it seems like people have made pretty comprehensive quizlets so if you're running low on money or just don't wanna spend it on that then go look there!

I'm still not fluent and I DEFINITELY need to brush up on basics Those particles I can get MOST of the time but in certain situations they STILL mess me up. Everybody struggles with them though from what I've noticed. People are prone to just dropping them though since it's possible BUT avoidance = you'll never get better at them or at least struggle to so just struggle through it.

EXPERIMENTAL STUFF:

I'm planning on making a playlist of listening practice stuff (beginner to advanced listening practice videos) on Youtube so I can try and replicate my time in Korea. I will play the playlist out loud on my TV while I go about my day and see if it works the same. Hopefully my listening improves even more. There's also this method called "Repetitive Listening" that I've seen around but never tried so I think this might help with that as well.

I also at some point wanna work my way up to studying THREE hours a day (speaking, grammar, listening/reading which again was supposed to replicate my time in Korea as closely as possible). So far I failed HARD at doing this in January. I think I studied around 2 hours the whole MONTH!!!!! So now I'm gonna try and just ease in and work my way up. People almost always fail when they set lofty goals like that anyway but it's better to set expectations high and then fail to a lower, more "realistic" (whatever that is for the given person) goal then to start low.

I'll get back to you with updates on how the playlist is going!

*Just wanted to note this in case anybody is reading this: but the playlist thing is different from trying to learn when you sleep or methods like that. Playing any language while sleeping isn't really a good method. It might help a bit during REM sleep but that's a small portion of your sleep time. The noise will probably just interrupt a person's sleep quality which will make them worse at language learning (and pretty much everything else) the night after. Listening while you're awake is a bit different. But I'm not sure if passive listening through recordings works the same as it would if I was listening to ambient noise in an actual environment in Korea so that's why I'm testing it out! I suspect/hypothesize it would work similarly but again, I'll let you know!

why jinsoul might be evil: a long-ass doc

I’m done!!!! I’ve written a full five page essay about how Jinsoul might be the final boss of Loona hehehehehehe! This was inspired by a post that I saw by @deerychuu yea i know the post is from 2018 but im bringing this back cause it inspired me

My stupid and mostly unsupported Loona theory: Jinsoul is evil hohoho

Ok so I saw a post a little while ago that was like “Olivia hye is the villain in yyxy but Jinsoul is loona’s final boss” or something like that, I don’t remember, but when I saw it I thought huh that's cool. But thEn I was watching the Singing in the Rain MV and like damn that makes sense so anyways here’s me finding evidence for it

My strange, messed up timeline:

1. Egoist Rap

2. Singing in the Rain

3. Love Cherry Motion

4. Love4Eva, Sweet Crazy Love

5. The rest of the Egoist MV

Part 1 of the ✨stupid✨ theory: Jinsoul is in prison for some reason who knows

Ok so basically this part I did not come up with (I found it on youtube oop) but it's important so I’m gonna leave this here. Throughout the earlier music videos featuring her, she’s shown in neon bars (or a fish tank) which probably represent her being trapped

But then at the end of Singing in the Rain, the bars aren’t straight (just like how Jinsoul isn’t straighUIDHFIUHDJDO *gets electrocuted*), they’re like all bent around and shit honestly idk what the word is but you get the idea.

(small cause I had to fit it on this page)

So what I think it is, is that Jinsoul broke out. She broke out of this ?prison thing? and she is out she’s gonna kill us all, run. Also let's all look at Jinsoul’s visuals there omg queen

Part 2: Jinsoul, when she was trapped, was on Eden (or at least had some way to contact Eden) and talked to Olivia Hye

You read the header, you know what's going on hohohoho. This part of the theory is me saying that Jinsoul is from Eden. Full theory is that I think that all of Odd Eye Circle is from different parts of the mobius strip that's actually important huh sO (Choerry is from Earth, that’s already a given as she is shown there and also shown going to the Middle Earth, Kim Lip is from the Middle Earth uhhh I just think that because she isn’t really shown anywhere else???, and Jinsoul is from Eden.)

Why do I think Jinsoul is from Eden you might ask, well hohohoho you’ve come to the right place (I sure do say hohohoho a lot)

In the Egoist MV, Jinsoul is seen (in a prison, implying that she was still trapped at this time) in front of a neon sign that says something in Chinese. (some people say that it has something to do with vivi but I personally think they just wrote it in Chinese so the Korean-speakers couldn't decipher it as easily lol) The characters say “Fallen Angel”. (I think, I don’t speak Chinese)

Boom fallen angel my theory is PROVEN wahahahaha so basically what I’m saying is that Jinsoul probably was on Eden at some point, but she maybe tried to do something bad who knows what and it was terrible enough that rather than being exiled to earth, she was forced to be in prison.

The second part that I have to say about this is the connection between her and Olivia Hye. She’s (obviously as it is literally oLiViA hYe fEaT JiNsOuL) in the Egoist MV. She's shown still trapped in the blue neon lights and is whispering in who I believe is Olivia Hye’s ear. I think that Jinsoul was trying to convince Olivia to do whatever Olivia ended up doing I’m not sure.

Part 3: Jinsoul’s “Swallowing the sun in the afternoon” and other lyrics

This parts gonna be short because I have no idea who or what the sun is referring to! It may be Olivia Hye, or Choerry, or it also may be someone or something else, but I think this was the reason Jinsoul was exiled to her neon prison thingy. These lyrics are in both Singing in the Rain and Egoist, so they gotta have some kind of significance kskdjdjsk

Personally I think that the sun may be referring to Choerry, because there is a can with the words ‘the sun in the afternoon’ on it, and Jinsoul eats a cherry out of it, and Choerry is very happy happy as everyone knows so it would make sense for her to be the sun.

But this wouldn’t make sense because Love Cherry Motion comes after Singing in the Rain (as Jinsoul isn’t trapped at this time) soooo maybe Jinsoul had hurt her before the timeline??? This might make sense because Kim Lip might figure this out in Eclipse. (you know. The sun being swallowed by the moon in the afternoon hohoho)

Also, who I think is Choerry is shown in the Egoist Mv taking the cherry out of the can. Her skin is a tone darker than Jinsoul’s, and the mouth is obviously wearing the same shade lipstick as Jinsoul so you can tell it's not her actually eating the cherry. I think Choerry was just a reference to the earlier music videos, or to the fact that Choerry was in One&Only.

But she also says “for the sin of swallowing you” to Olivia. bUt none of this makes sense, this is just me ranting. Long story short, I think Jinsoul “swallowing the sun” was what landed her in prison. Let’s get onto the other lyrics!

Nevermind I lied. I'm still stuck on the similarities in Love Cherry Motion and Singing in the Rain. I’m pretty sure this happened before Jinsoul was exiled, and before she had an Odd Eye.

Idk I just definitely think that Choerry and Jinsoul are connected before the actual events somehow.

Also this is about different parts, but Jinsoul actually talks about being dangerous in the lyrics of Singing in the Rain hehehehe.

Part 4: Jinsoul egged Olivia on (specifically with her maybe killing ViVi)

Uhhhhhh so this part is mostly about the lyrics of the Egoist rap. Throughout the rap, the common theme of what Jinsoul is saying is “we’re together, I feel what you feel, come to me” and that kind of stuff. Placed around her are cans (like the afternoon sun one) and all of them are opened, implying that she’s eaten them. The lyrics of the rap are “Hey, for the sin of swallowing you, You get bigger and bigger, beautiful you, You are me, now I’m you, Little by little, soaked into my veins. On&on, you and me the endless cycle, We can’t be separated. When I miss you, I close my eyes and go to you for a while, Close your eyes and you come closer to me.

She’s shown talking in Olivia Hye’s ear during this, which may mean that Olivia Hye is the sun, but this isn’t about that, this is about Jinsoul being evil.

Now this part (of this part loll) is still about Egoist, but the other parts of the MV. Most of the lyrics before the rap are about how Olivia misses someone (probably Yves but that's another story) and how she wants to love herself instead of them. It also opens with a scene in which Olivia lays on a mattress covered in white feathers. I believe that this part in Egoist happens after the rap, but the rap is put before the change in Olivia’s mentality for extra effect. After Jinsoul’s scene, Olivia looks at the mattress again, and the feathers that used to be white turn red. There’s also some scenes that show her eating a plum and having what looks like blood on her lips, as well as snips of a scene where she is washing lots of blood off of her hands. I think that Jinsoul may have influenced her into killing ViVi, or doing something else. (I’ll put a link to a doc that one of my friends wrote about why Olivia may have killed ViVi.) The placement of the rap between the two parts of Olivia’s music video are what make me think this theory is more plausible :).

Part 5: Jinsoul the blue fish

Now we’re getting into more detail about the Singing in the Rain MV!!! I already explained the theory about how Jinsoul is trapped in the blue lights, but there’s moreee!

During the Singing in the Rain and some small parts of Crazy Sweet Love, she’s shown with a blue fish. This is important because in Singing in the Rain, she’s also shown by rows of tanks, all filled with red or orange fish. She eventually stops by a tank on display in the middle. (I know which fane this is cause its my computer background lmaoooo)

So the fish is consistently shown as different from all of the other fish. The ones on the pedestal are too, but they are all the same type, at least. Then, Jinsoul pours the blue fish into the tank of orange ones. However, it is shown just after that, that the blue fish actually represents Jinsoul.

I think this was showing that Jinsoul was not the same as the rest of the girls in Loona. She’s an outlier.

As most of her insecurity started because of him and how she had to be the bigger person for his other family, clearing out the misunderstanding between them brought a sense of peace while she’s settling in the restless turn of events.

hmm y/n wasn’t really working hard for her dad’s attention, it was more like she felt so left out and unwanted (she feels unwanted wherever she goes) that she just decided to pack up and support them from afar bcos to her, she’s so alienated in her dad’s family that she felt like she had to work hard to earn a spot in their table. she knows she’s the outsider but she wants to feel like she can be part of them, that she is also a child deserving of love and care, but becos her stepmom focused more on her actual kids and her own dad was too busy with his new family now, it made y/n feel that she had to do something to be worthy of that.

that’s why most of the money she made working in tokyo was still wired to her family; she put her brothers in school and supported them, all because she hoped it would make them accept her more. now, things are different because she finally found her biological family, but even if valeria and co. still don’t want her, y/n is now more focusing on building something that’s truly hers that no one can take away. yes yes, she did become greedy, but more for power than of acceptance. she got to a point she doesn’t care as much vying for her parents’ approval and now thinks her luxury gives her comfort; only because at least she has that much. like she said in the latest chapter, happiness was not what she needed, it was stability and money - all things she lacked before.

and yea she did go back to her roots! all of her issues started with her dad anyway but that part is slowly patching up 🩹💔 oooh actually your theory is right bestie 🧐 gojo found y/n interesting bcos she reminded him of mia, so the more she pushed him away, the more he’s like wait, i’ve been here before, let’s not repeat past mistakes but i can do better now. on the part where gojo talked to mia while she was asleep, notice how he said he’s given a second chance to do better now, all because he couldn’t do them with mia but he could with y/n.

ohhh actually y/n was the one who established that ‘fulfilling mutual need and settling for familiarity instead of being lonely’ type of relationship. gojo avoided her for weeks and he’s pretty settled in keeping his distance, but she was the one who sought him out. deep down, y/n is afraid if she doesn’t at least use him as an anchor to her more humble roots, then she might spiral out of control and end up like valeria, thus using him as a ‘distraction’ but in reality, she needs his comfort to be grounded.

some quick thoughts on Michael Schmidt’s Cartography of Revolutionary Anarchism aka I Fucking Hated This Book:

(and also I’m kinda sick and my adhd meds are wearing off for the day so this will be poorly written, sorry)

I picked up Cartography because it seemed like a short but global history of anarchist movements from the 1860′s to today, which sounds great! I’m an anarchist, I like history, what could go wrong? and what i found was genuinely one of the worst books i’ve read in years. i’ve thought about formatting this into a proper review, but no one really cares, so let’s do bullet points:

—the most immediately obvious and glaring problem is that Schmidt treats Marxism as if it is an equal (or sometimes implied to be even greater) enemy to anarchists than capitalism. he at one point literally does the “fascism was bad, but the USSR was just as bad” lib thing, and it comes across as completely ideologically blinded. i am well aware of the ways in which anarchists have been treated under centralized communist states, and let’s just say i am Not A Fan, but even thinking about that, the fact that the only opposition to anarchism we hear about regularly is marxist-leninist opposition, and not fucking CAPITALIST OPPOSITION, skews it into the most blindly and dumbly polemical shit i’ve read since, ironically, Lenin’s State and Revolution —every time he says Maoism he puts it in scare quotes? “Maoism”. it’s silly —he claims that anarcho-syndicalism is the most influential and powerful leftist movement and idea of the 20th century, which like....... —by “anarchism”, he means, specifically, anarcho-syndicalism and revolutionary syndicalism, even that which is not explicitly anarchist. he says anarcho-communism and anarcho-syndicalism are the same thing, basically, so we’ll just call them both anarcho-syndicalism, and also any anarchism that doesn’t follow Bakunin isn’t really anarchism, the only way forward for anarchism is through platformism, and all other forms of anarchism are individualist and don’t care about class struggle. i don’t even need to get into how absurd that all is. even if you agree with it, that shit has to be defended, it is not self-evident as he treats it —the history is both a.) bad and b.) terribly written. this comes across in three main ways: one, there is an equation of all union efforts with anarcho-syndicalism, which, yes, was very influential on union organizing throughout the world (and continues to be very influential), but that equivalence is just not helpful or explanatory. it’s clearly just polemic to make it seem like there were more influential and powerful anarchist groups in the world than there actually were. two, he just throws out numbers for the sizes of some of these groups, and the vast, VAST majority of the time gives no context for them. he will say X group in Uruguay had X amount of members in 1935...but i have no idea if that’s a lot or a little. what percentage of workers in this industry was that? what percentage of the population? how did that compare with other political groups in that same time and place? without context these numbers mean literally nothing. and beyond that, some of the groups he talks about are so tiny and dissolved so quickly that it feels a lot of the time like i’m reading a brief history of global communism that included, in the 8 pages of actual history from 1990-today, an entire paragraph about every splinter group of the US red guards —three, and this one requires its own bullet point because of how much it sucked to read, he goes into way too much detail for the space he’s given himself, and there is no reasonable way for him to adequately discuss or give even an impression of every group he brings up. for example, in the 15 history-focused pages for what he called the “third wave” from 1924-1949 (and these are small pages too, about 4 1/2″ x 7 1/4″, like the size of a sci-fi paper back but with regular medium size text), the following groups are brought up and given abbreviations:

REVIEW: BURIED STARS ☆

came across this korean mystery vn and i knew i had to get it bc someone commented that it had a similar feel to danganronpa/zero escape O: seems like i have a type

i usually don’t prefer to get digital copies of games but there was really no choice... i heard the physical copy is sold out in korea and resales are going for 200 USD ain’t nobody got money for that

i don’t think anyone i know is gonna purchase this game and play for themselves and i can’t share the game either bc it’s a digital copy sooo i’m gonna write a review~ please enjoy!!

basically the plot goes as such: the survival reality tv show Buried Stars was about to commence the finals of its current season with the remaining five contestants when the building suddenly collapses. most of the audience and staff members were safely evacuated except for seven ppl (the five contestants and two staff members) who are trapped in the wreckage with just their smartwatches that connects them to the outside world via calls (problematic bc they can only call a restricted number of ppl and the signal inside is shit) and phater (bootleg twitter). after trying to make some calls, everyone was then told that the rescue team would take around six hours to break into the collapsed building to get them out.

ok so they just have to wait it out... in an unstable building that can come down at any moment. cool.

then!!! they find the producer’s dead body, seemingly a victim to the falling debris!! they’re down to six survivors now.

despite the circumstances, voting is still ongoing and some rando on phater claims that the contestant in the last place will die as if the atmosphere wasn’t bad enough.

this is your smartwatch interface!! most of the functions are pretty useless with regards to the actual gameplay but it’s just fun to play around with them i guess

for e.g. you can change the background and ringtone but they don’t affect anything

there’s this feature that keeps track of changes that occur when you pick certain conversation topics during communication rounds and it’s really useful for replays!! too bad it doesn’t keep track of sanity changes in mc

this is the mc!! even though he looks like he would be a tsundere punk he’s actually very soft?? kinda like saihara but with a bit more spine

AND THIS IS MY BEST BOI GYU-HYUK

i lowkey ship them bc of their interactions alsjdkasjs jUST LOOK AT THIS

i was expecting there to be a lot of mysteries but given the circumstances i guess it makes sense to not have that many... there’s no murder mystery if it happened in an accident site and looked like an accident you see

a lot of conversation topics focus on the character’s backstory and stuff so you get to learn more about the characters while waiting for rescue (one of the goals of this game is actually to collect characters’ profiles!)

bonding through a shared traumatic experience sounds reasonable

did i mention that the cutscenes are fully voiced (either in korean or japanese depending on your preference)?? i played it in korean for my first gameplay for ~Optimal Experience~ but i switched to japanese in subsequent plays bc i wanted to be able to understand what the characters were saying without reading the text

the only thing that throws me off is that characters are given japanese names in the japanese dub but the in-game text still uses their korean names??? why

my boi gyu-hyuk is voiced by takuya eguchi and hyesung is voiced by shimono hiro (i actually doubted my ears at first bc hyesung sounds angry 24/7 and i only know shimono’s derpy zenitsu and troll ouma voices sweats;;) wOW 👍👍👍

the first ending is the same for everyone even if you picked the best options

they call it a “normal end” but tbh it’s a bad end bc everyone dies and nothing is resolved

after you clear the game for the first time you will get to replay from the start but your options will change so you can proceed towards other routes!! yay

oh yeah in case anyone is wondering this game is rated T and bodies are shown in the form of a silhouette with non-explicit close-ups during investigation so if you can’t handle graphic stuff it’s not too bad

warning: from here on there will be spoilers for the true ending and other endings!! stop scrolling if you have even the slightest intention to play the game

collected all the endings after 30ish hours of gameplay!! i wanted to strive for 100% completion in achievements but i’m not sure how to get some stuff... might go back and try other options in the future

in the true route you receive help from this random phater user plughole aND I JUST LOVE THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN HIM AND DO-YOON LMAO

idk if anyone tried to guess who the real culprit is but it turned out to be

my boi gyu-hyuk......

he had his reasons (not trying to say he did no wrong) and it’s just unfortunate that things turned out this way

while playing, i thought to myself... if there was one person i would glue do-yoon to throughout the entire game it would be gyu-hyuk... bc i was certain he wouldn’t hurt do-yoon

i was right tho... even in some routes where do-yoon catches him in the act, gyu-hyuk didn’t try to silence him

CRYING

i don’t know much about korean law but he has THREE murder charges on him whicH SOUNDS LIKE DEATH SENTENCE

i’m sad bc there’s no way to save my boi even in his best ending

plughole visits you in the hospital in the true ending!! he is also a troll irl it seems

he was kinda sus in the beginning but i really hoped that he was a Good Guy to keep do-yoon sane in the wreckage

and i’m glad he was

do-yoon looks super baby in his hospital clothes

he was not kidding when he said that his actions were bc of his sister (who is a hardcore fan of do-yoon) lmao

aaa the girls are doing great after their treatment!! they visit do-yoon too!!

yeah i also want to know why do-yoon is the only one still hospitalised with all those bandages when everyone else is fine but i guess maybe he got injured when he protected gyu-hyuk from falling debris at the start of the game

...

if you don’t find out the true culprit of the murders gyu-hyuk goes free and he visits you every day in the hospital aND SAYS STUFF LIKE THIS

ugh it hurts me

there’s also a joke ending (when you pick the “i’m the attacker” option lmao) which i appreciate a lot!! something to lighten the tense mood is what i crave for in games like this

somehow i feel like it’s even scarier than the usual atmosphere bc of how ooc everyone acts

BUT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT’S REALLY SCARY?

there’s a horror route that you can enter by using the “laboratory” conversation topic on everyone and expressing how much it creeps you out

and the entire game shifts in genre to actual horror (like with paranormal activities)

IT WAS REALLY SCARY AND THERE WERE HANDS EVERYWHERE AND EVERYONE WAS ACTING WEIRD ASLJELKASJ i had my eyes closed half the time and i regret playing on my monitor

i didn’t take many screenshots bc as i mentioned my eyes were not looking at the screen for most part but i hope that you can kinda understand where i’m coming from with these two screenshots

the game is actually split into two major routes (A and B) which differ in who gets saved and who dies

you can only start on the B route after you get the true ending which is in the A route

unfortunately there is no route where everyone (even if you exclude the producer bc she dies before do-yoon regains consciousness at the start of the game) survives TT

if hyesung and seil survive then gyu-hyuk kills himself and leaves a note but do-yoon tears it up so we don’t know what he wrote

overall a solid mystery vn with beautiful graphics and enough routes to keep you occupied for many hours!! i highly recommend following a walkthrough bc it’s not an easy game if you want to collect all the possible endings and achievements

cuz there are minor changes to the epilogue depending on how close you are with the characters

i actually don’t play a lot of VNs but i feel like all VNs need the route map thingy in AI: the somnium files

my only gripe about this game is prob the derpy translations which usually isn’t a big issue (imo at least) but for a game priced this high?? i expected better

#6: the curious art of crunchtime creativity (2/2): aha

exams happened yesterday, and also i wrote this blog post yesterday, but now it’s all gone and i’m rewriting it. c’est la vie! edit before posting: it is one week later and another exam has happened and now i have more material to write about. c’est la vie pt2!

so. there’s a second type of creativity – calling it creativity isn’t accurate; most would consider it to be going down the rabbit’s hole that is the internet. we’ve all done it before, somehow finding ourselves staring at something in horrified fascination with no clue as to how we ended up there. in my case – or at least, in this context, it is mostly subject-related, specifically to the subject on which i am about to write the exam. (future me: the exam is over) please note: this has only applied to tamil and chinese, the two languages i take (english doesn’t count. you can’t study for english), because those have scopes so wide that they might as well not exist at all. hence, it’s not me, it’s the subject. we move on.

chinese is a lovely, lovely subject ((please forget the fact that my exam is in two days and i’ve barely started studying) <– this exam is now over i hate it) and my love for it came from this book i found when i was starting out. it taught the story of each character by broke it down into radicals and connected these radicals into a coherent plot that told its meaning. that was a long sentence. so this made learning chinese, which is, primarily, a pictoral language, quite manageable.

a tangent here: simplified chinese is harder to understand pictorally as compared to traditional chinese, because in the name of simplification, many radicals have been bastardised to mean completely different things from what they were actually intended to be. for example, the character for listen (听, 聽), as you can see, has been grossly simplified from including the radicals for ear and heart to just including the radical for mouth. kinda sad, isn’t it

anyway back to story so i have amazing friends who kick my ass into studying and will absolutely scream at me for browsing taobao two days before the exam (which i did haha) and it’s great learning chinese in a chinese-speaking country because you have so many somewhat-native-chinese-speakers who will correct your chinese but still encourage you to strive on and not make (too much) fun of you. it’s lovely because my friends have similar pop culture exposure compared to me, so if i drop in a random korean reference or whatnot they get it. it’s really, really great and cool, especially when i want to write fanfic in chinese and they get it B)

speaking of fanfic, i recently discovered twosetviolin (why recently, you ask? i’ve been seeing their thumbnails in my recommended for ages but never clicked; sorry) and i was hooked. so naturally, i turned to fanfiction (idk if i actually ship them but the stories are cute). surprisingly, there was a large amount of chinese fanfiction about them, which led me to lofter (chinese tumblr)! and i learnt so much vocab from that and it was so so fun to read, because it was seeing familiar tropes in a slightly-less-familiar language. i do want to continue learning chinese, so hopefully this will prove to be a good gateway into the language.

the tamil section’s going to be shorter because it’s been a while since the exam, but anyway, i shall try my best.

tamil has been my pride and joy for the last four years, in no small part thanks to my peers and teacher who made me love the language and love myself for inheriting the language. i once regarded tamil as a burden and hated speaking it because of how i stumbled and had a funny accent. now, though, my accent is a lot better, and i speak it much more naturally. it’s still a work in progress, but i love the language so much more and that has translated directly into (or has affected) how i interact with my peers and family. i’m a lot more confident expressing myself in the language, and i like speaking it and making a connection to other people who have chosen the language.

because that’s what it is, isn’t it, you choose a language. you can choose to reject the language you were born with, or you can choose to cultivate it and respect it. you can choose to learn a language that was not yours to begin with, but has grown to become close to you in a different but equally inexplicable manner. you choose the language, and you give it the acknowledgement it rightly deserves.

anyway. the love for the language stayed largely within class, where our teacher showed us ancient tamil poems and translated them for us, showing us that themes of love, kindness, filial piety, and so many more have not changed one bit in the last 2000 years. recently, however, i found oldtamilpoetry.com, in which the blog-writer translates tamil poetry into bite-sized pieces. as i stayed up late reading the archives, i felt the language settling into my bones, draped over me as comfortingly as a childhood blanket. it was reassuring. calming. lovely.

this, i now realise, is just a really long love letter to my languages. these are my languages now, and i’ve made them my own by finding the beauty in them. that beauty was best discovered in the moments before exams, when pressure drives you to look for alternate ways to make learning bearable. this was when i discovered why i actually love the language – and love learning, really. yeah.

i don’t know where i was going with this but YES. tldr, during exam periods, i find how beautiful subjects – languages – are. it’s really cool, and i recommend you do it too. just go down a rabbit hole and find what makes you click. find that pull factor that makes you realise that yeah, this was worth it. this is probably kind of incoherent but hey. hopefully a bit of you resonated with this!

that's so AWESOME, being a polyglot sure as hell is hot! and such an advantage with korean fanart! If you don't mind, which one is your favourite (for writing, speaking, listening)? When talking, do you alternate between the three of them?? Which one do you think is the easiest? Any anecdote involving language?? hehe sometimes i see the korean spop art n comics on twitter and they will have some like english translation and i will feel like an insider because i will look at the original korean one and know what it Really says

also! english is the language i’m technically the most proficient in? but when i speak to family n friends who speak english and chinese i tend to code-switch! it is fun and also my parents used to make me terrified of chinese because they would scold and belittle me constantly for not speaking it well when i was like in my preteens to teens (even tho it was their fault! for almost exclusively speaking english to me because english proficiency is an advantage and is prioritized in my country). but my mom now admits i speak chinese well <3 i don’t necessarily know all the words but whatever i say tends to come out nice <3 also with korean.... mmm its hard to get opportunities to speak it because i don’t know anyone who can speak korean with me <3 i feel very shy about using it <3 there was a period of time tho when i spoke korean to my dogs for fun it was funny

between english chinese and korean..... it’s interesting because english and chinese both for the most part follow the SVO (subject verb object) sentence structure, whereas korean follows a SOV (subject object verb) sentence structure. BUT english and korean both have an alphabet (its why i learnt how to read korean in like! idk an hour i’m guessing) whereas chinese does not </3 its a... [big sigh] pictorial language. so each character is some new fucking picture you gotta learn. SUCH a bitch in oral examinations because sometimes u will just come across a word that u don’t know! never seen that shit before! so u don’t know how to read it <3 so it’s like a guessing game where there is every chance you will be completely wrong <3 so sometimes u gotta fucking <3 pretend the word doesn’t exist <3 or make up your own pronunciation <3 i remember sitting in a hall once with two of my malay friends and they were moaning about how scared they were because what if they pronounce stuff wrong :( and i’m like aw :( well :( but at least u have an alphabet :( which is like the same letters as the one in english :( that’s like safer right because how wrong can u go? and they’re like ok but u see :( the word could be said slightly different as compared to how its spelt :( and i’m like oh <3 that must be so hard <3

and the thing is u see. they learnt exactly how much easier they had it. because our school had this program where they made the chinese students learn malay and the students who spoke malay, hindi, tamil, basically everyone who was not chinese. they had to learn chinese </3 and that was honestly like a racist hate crime, because after class my friends would come up to me on the verge of tears like. michelle :’( HOW are you doing this. chinese class is so scary we hate it why must we memorise every new character. and me, who got second in class for malay (the ONLY reason why i didn’t get first was because i forgot what ‘yellow’ was in malay. and now i will always remember it is ‘kuning’. anyway my malay teacher was BEAUTIFUL and she told me i got full marks for reading because i said everything perfectly. i did not understand a single word of the malay passage i was reading <3) was like i am so sorry :( you do not deserve this :(

anyway its a hate crime to make a person learn english and chinese because imo those are two of the most different languages in the world :) its why white people fucking suck at chinese. and honestly so do most chinese american like. actors. ever seen a movie where they speak chinese? most times they are speaking it horribly <3 anyway, learning korean was really interesting because of how it strengthened my chinese! like, because a lot of korean words came from chinese (there are korean words taken from japanese too. because. well. lmao) and the korean alphabet was literally invented because traditional han characters (written chinese) was too fucking hard. even the chinese people realized traditional chinese was too fucking hard and decided to make simplified chinese. like make those pictures less complicated!

the reason why i learnt korean was because. of this korean variety show called running man. it is the most internationally recognized korean variety show. so what this show is is like. there is a main cast made up of actors, singers, and comedians. and they are forced to compete against each other/team up to achieve a common goal, through playing various games and stuff with a final objective that involves someone winning/getting punished. it’s a little hard to explain, but they’re like an irl found family trope (while also being fictional? because they essentially play characters on that show that are like exaggerated versions of themselves) with EVERY AU ever. like seriously think of a concept they’ve probably done it. high school, super powers, super heroes, aliens, college students, olympic athletes, sherlock holmes, james bond, chess, etc etc etc. so an example of this would be like the staff will tell the members “this week you are the drama department in the high school and you are competing against the athletics department to determine who is the best club in the school” and they’ll have to do it. and sometimes the cast gets really into the theme of the ep and its really funny when they gotta Act to sell something. anyway they also have this game which the show invented called ‘nametag ripping’ so essentially on their backs everyone has a name tag stuck to their clothes with velcro and you have to rip off the nametags of other people. the cast in this show has incredible chemistry so the banter is amazing and very funny. i also have to admit i additionally liked the show because two of the members had this ‘best enemies, best collaborators’ chemistry that i found very compelling and fun to watch. so i started learning korean so i could get what they were saying without subs ie watch the show live. and i guess my parents found that impressive which is why my mom constantly nags me to learn more languages. which. is not gonna happen because i have adhd <3 and the thing about me is. i won’t say i’m a genius. but i can do anything so long as i want to do it. its the worst superpower to have <3 so anyway. that’s why i know korean i guess! sorry this is so long

Synopsis: Y/N is not enjoying the concert in Seoul due to harassment of the guy behind her pinning her to the barrier-fence. No one cares, no one notices, and no one takes actions until Jimin found the situation angering him.

Warning: Sexual Harassment

He pushes me hard up against the fence which is separating the crowd from the stage. He holds my hips like he owns me, the music blasts, fans shout and my screams is easily confused to be similar. He thrusts against my ass to my cries, but no one notice. Several times he tries to kiss me but I refuse. I feel pinned and stuck, and I prayed for their concert to be over because I couldn’t concentrate with this harassing dude touching me, purposely taking advantage of the crowds disguise. I bawled my eyes out leaning over the fence nearly choking with the lack of air. Suddenly a certain someone saw my pain, heard my screams, but he had a job to continue.

The arena faded to dark only to the light-sticks dull enlightenment. Before the stage lights truly faded, his shadow unlike everyone else ran off. Two warm hands suddenly grabbed my shoulders from across the fence, and there’s a whisper to my ear. “I’ll help you over the fence”, his angelic voice was to identify at once. But my heart was already rushing with adrenaline so nothing changed as I got over the fence. Only the hint of relief hit me once his hands ripped away from me and i was dragged away.

Into the the slightest of light his identity was confirmed to what I thought. Jimin’s eyes looked worryingly at me, seeing the already red and bruised hands of mine from the forced grips, made his expression angry along with sorry. He handed me his water bottle to get me hydrated and to hopefully get me to calm down. “Stay here”, Jimin had no time to stay around and rushed back on stage.

I could hear their steps and voices, but then something interrupted it. A crew member had spotted me and marched hasty towards me as I was seen as a threat. “You’re NOT allowed to be here!” He grabbed my already bruised arm, dragging me painfully through several hallways to end up in an isolate room. I was thrown inside and cage within the four concrete walls. I banged on the door trying to explain. But like anyone would have believed my story… literarily any fan would have come up with a similar excuse to meet them, only that my story wasn’t an excuse. Never had I believed things would turn out so horrible, all I wished for and payed for was seeing my idols perform. That was all I wanted… Now I’m here, locked up in a isolated room, crying for help as I’m feeling the angst place itself up my throat.

The boys ends the show without any regrets or much hardship. Jimin rushed to redress into normalised clothing: white t-shirt, black hoodie, dark blue jeans and original yellow timberlands. He looked around finding her nowhere, he ended up asking the crew. Their answer made his fingers tighten in a fist, and he raised his voice slightly between his gritted teeth. “I got her back here! Where is she?”

I was locked in the old storage area and I was panicking. I placed myself into the very far corner as I kept staring at the door, praying for just anyone to open up. Then, the door suddenly burst open. Jimin walked with long steps toward me opening his arms. I let myself find comfort in his kindness. “I’ll get you out of here safely, don’t worry”. He grabbed my hand gently with his knowledge on my bruising, dragging me back all the hallways from before, and through the rest of their group. They reacted confused, but they smiled apologetically once they saw my teary eyes. I felt so out of place, I wanted to disappear at the same time as it was so surreal that it still didn’t reach my mind who’s holding my hand. Jimin was shouted after by his fellow members, but he shut them out as the exit door closed behind us.

He flipped up his hoodie and covered his lips and nose behind a mask. He turned to me and smiled with his eyes so gently, reaching for my hand he intertwines our fingers like a couple. “Where do you live? I’ll walk you!” “Grand Hotel, I’m just visiting Seoul”. I’m just half Korean, but have lived here all my life. But in Ilsan, not in Seoul where my dad is born and raised.

Jimin kept me close as we were walking, both silent most likely because he would easily be recognised if overheard.

It was getting darker outside, nearly all light was gone. Walking in the entrance of the Hotel lobby I prepared myself to say goodbye to him. But that wasn’t his plan. “Which room?” He smiled at me behind the mask still holding my hand. “4-21, why?” “Just wanna make sure you get back safe, all the way”

During the short elevator trip I think It finally went up for me who was offering me help. Also he removed his mask, underlining the realisation. I felt the heat arouse in my system, my cheeks flushing red with him looking at me. Everyone said he was so short, but not to me. He was tall enough to lean his head to the top of mine if he stretched his neck just a little.

“What’s your name?”

“Oh, I’m Y/N”, I said shyly.

“Woah, such a pretty name!!” He smiled at me.

4th floor, he let go of my hand. I opened the Hotel room door and walked a few steps inside, Jimin stood in the door opening leaning against the door, keeping it from gliding shut. “I’m sorry what happened to you. I was going to act sooner but I couldn’t. And sorry I just had to leave you, but …”

“Omg, Jimin it’s okay, I totally understand. Thank you so much”

He invited me in for another hug. And I knew from just the two I’ve received, that his hugs were the absolute best. But this one was more, idk what to call it… electric maybe. He smelled so good, I just realised, and he was so warm and caring. As we pulled away from each other our space did not extend. His hand slid gently down my left side ending up resting at my hip, his right hand, to my surprise, cupped the left side of my face. His thumb wiping away remaining tears. Our eyes met and It felt as drowning or drifting through a galaxy. His smile faded to become blank-ish.

“Y/N… Can I kiss you?..” He spoke so gently and low for just my ears.

“Really?”, I reacted with whispering in slight shock to his sudden request.

“Yeah”, he whispered very low as he closed his eyes while decreasing our distance, leaning slightly down. His plump lips suddenly presses up to mine, pecking them so sweetly. One intimate touch and all my senses swelled up. A kiss without sound, just a gentle little peck. But turning to so much more. I couldn’t hold myself back wanting “just one more”, Standing slightly on my toes i kissed him. His mouth went to dance with mine, clearly giving into it as well. I smiled and nodded shyly before he had to leave.

Jimin continued to keep contact once in a while. Usually i just got some selfies here and there which i plastered my room with. And sweet “miss u” messages and “good nights”

We met up in secrecy time to time as well, he also granted me a new concert with them because he felt bad about the other one.

He was the sweetest, and though we always were apart i felt more loved than ever.

Can you name a uniquely named crayon in the Crayola 64 pack? The one color name I have never ever EVER forgotten in the last 15 or so years I’ve been aware of Crayola 64, is macaroni and cheese. I used it a lot solely because of its name. Carnation pink was also pretty unique to me, and I remember being bothered as a kid as to why they didn’t just name it pink lmao. What kind of car did your parents have while you were growing up? We used to have a sky blue Mitsubishi Lancer that was around for a little over a decade. Do you tie your socks together or roll them up? I roll them up and put it in a ball. I am not aware that tying up socks is a thing. When's the last time you had peanut butter? Ooh, safe to say it was many months ago. I don’t really like peanut butter as a filling; I like peanut-butter flavored food more, but I haven’t had those in a while, either. What was your last bad date? It’s been a while. My girlfriend and I barely see each other, so we try not to fight in the 1-2 times a week that we get to hang out.

Do you ever wish your birthday was on a different day? In 2019 I certainly wished it was on a different day, because my birthday then was on the same day as Easter and none of my friends were available to celebrate with me – save for Angela who went great lengths to make sure she at least had dinner with me and made me feel less sucky. I’ve gone snorkeling in Boracay and Palawan, and that one time we went on a beach trip for biology class in high school. why bighit is trash

or, alternatively, a list of things that bighit, an entertainment company/music label, should start doing and stop acting like a small company.

im puting everything under a read more bcos its a lot, for one, and im also sure that not everyone wants to read it or cares lmao

a little disclaimer; i speculate and connect things based off of the things we are shown/told, i will spoil some parts of their recent movie AND its not bighit-positive, obviously

okay to start this off, bighit released an official statement to say that bts will be going “on an official and extended period of rest and relaxation” and that’s honestly one of the best things that bighit has done for bts.

the statement is linked, but since i will be referring to a fair few points on it i will also attach it here

the issues start with the opening sentence.

“for the first time since their debut” bts will be going on an official and extended period of rest. to rephrase, for the first time in 6 years, the 7 men of bts will not be surrounded by cameras, will not be expected to attend any rehearsals or interviews and will not be expected to produce or write lyrics. they will not have any responsibilities tied to their work. or, that is what we all had assumed, but as we now know the members were expected to film content on what they do during their break and, if jungkooks video is anything to go by, they were also expected to edit and send it in to the company for “review”.

judging by the release/filming of Hoseok & Becky G’s CNS, it seems like their “break” does not include solo activities. or does bighit consider the building of ones own reputation as an individual artist an “extra” and not a part of ones work?

this just hurts. it was bighits responsibility to make sure that they got more chances to enjoy their lives.

the good

bighit reminding uglies to stay the fuck away from them during their short break.

okay, the statement aside, i want to talk about a few other bighit-bts related things.

bighit staff and sasaengs

- stalkers appearing in hoseoks bday vlive (no its not staff, the girls’ accounts were found on instagram. they were quite pleased with themselves) were was the security ? how did the girls know which room the boys were in ? doesn’t bighit rent out the entire hotel floor ? does that mean they were allowed in ? why ? did they pay ? do their parents have connections bighit could use ?

- giving away members clothes, providing concert entrance, giving away members numbers ect

the thing that occurred during hoseoks vlive was not looked into, as far as i am aware, however Jimin’s Gucci concert shirt being 'lent’ to a stalker was.

However, minimum to little effort was put into the case because no staff was fired, no disciplinary measures were taken and no consequences occurred.

- during either DNA or Fake Love comeback stages on music shows, some armys were not permitted entrance and some privileged people were taken backstage to meet the members (which is NOT allowed, at any point. those are PRIVATE areas for the idols to rest and prep for the stage) source 1 & more if you look around.

- not firing a manager that hit jungkook source (some speculate he was fired, others speculate he was removed from being a manager and took another position within bighit.)

- bighit restricting any and all interactions with the members among staff. according to one of the backup dancers during Not Today and/or Singularity, bighit staff was very strict about NOT speaking with the members.

take the last point as you will. I have my own thoughts about it

- no subs on army kit content, no subs for bangtan bombs (other channels have them. bighit claims themselves to be a global company but doesn’t move as such). its all well and good to say “you’re stanning a korean company, learn korean!” and this may work for bangtan bombs, but what about army kit content? why isn’t that subtitled? or should that be dismissed with “you don’t have to buy it”?

the good

- giving bts a private jet and not making them go through public entrances and exits. thank u bighit

the movie

this will contain spoilers.

- big hit staff filmed the members during their vulnerable moments.

jungkook nearly passing out, filmed and slotted into the movie. the members crying and clearly feeling emotionally vulnerable ? recorded and snipped into the movie. this would’ve been fine if the members were fine with it, but jungkook was clearly trying to hide his face from the camera and jimin expressed not wanting to show himself in bad conditions.

- treatment of bighit staff

we all know that jungkook had to sit out during some stages during the love-yourself tour. what we didn’t know was that he got stitches without any medication that would ease his pain because he had to go on stage.

jungkook hurt himself so badly that he needed stitches, but was not allowed anything to subdue the pain while getting the stitches because it would not make him stage-ready. the staff members watched as he screamed while getting stitches.

now, i don’t really care whether it was jungkook’s decision or not. nobody in their right mind would let someone they care about go through with something like that. there will be other stages, there will be other concerts. however, idk why i find this surprising since jungkook was hit by a staff member before and the only reason why he got fired was bcos it was spotted in the bg of a bangtan bomb and armys demanded for the man to be fired.

- secondly, jimin’s neck and dropping out of the graham norton show.

i cannot find the translation rn, but while deciding what to tell the fans with regards to what happened to jimin and why he isn’t able to perform with the rest, namjoon tries to opt for telling the truth in a gentle way while one of the staff members suggests a white lie as to not worry the fans.

this has also happened before with the korean vs english statement regarding jungkook’s heal injury. the korean explanation stated that it was serious, while the english one explained it more casually. i cannot find the sources currently, but if you look around yourself you can find them.

bighit.

- keeping supreme boi employed

- forcing jimin and jin to sing in female key in fake love, despite both of them expressing their struggle with reaching such high notes.

- not providing a vocal coach while on tour (jimin had to ask jungkook for advice)

- vocal line still have not got their own studios despite expressing their want for it, yet txt members have their own studios already. source

- members having less and less influence over the groups music. even recently yoongi mentioned that the songs he makes don’t match with bts’ music/style anymore source

- bighit being immensely difficult to work with overseas (strict venue rules regarding staff, changing things last minute, not being time-efficient)

- leaving taehyung’s stage name out of promotional works/promo tweets

- not taking action against death threats made against taehyung

- forcing jimin to speak about his death threats during a live, global interview in korea

- not cleaning up the copyright matter over using michael jackson’s song “black or white” in the festa performance of jimin and jungkook - resulted in their performance being taken down

- no bangtan bomb behind jimin creating his song “promise”, while recently there have been videos released of jins, jungkooks and taehyung’s solos

- bighit shooting down collaborations and picking and chosing the artists that collab with bts, despite the members wanting and expressing interesting in collaborations with said artist (why did we get a chainsmokers collab before a tinashe one? a khalid one?)

- bighits deal with dispatch. dispatch is known for exposing scandals and relationships among idols, so the fact that they get an exclusive peak into the bangtan life is interesting and rather worrisome.

-however, one of the dirtiest moves that bighit pulled was during the break between DNA and Fake Love. as we know now, that time was very hard for the members. it was in that gap that the members spoke of disbanding, there were rumours/concerns about jungkook’s well being and fans also pointed out taehyung’s odd state.

during this time, instead of allowing the members time and space to decide everything, bighit had applied for the legal copyright regarding everything bts. the group name was copyrighted, as were the members stage names, fandom name among other things (there are articles on naver, if you’re interested).

SPECULATION

i just want to stress that these are my thoughts and you are welcome to disagree and have your own opinions.

Although we know that the members have re-signed the contract with bighit for another 7 years, I do believe that their pens were pushed by bighit’s copyrighting run. the members had 2 choices; either bind yourself to another contract and stay with that which you have built for years, or drop everything and start anew. however, something tells me that bts didn’t sign the contract with no leverage.

namjoon had said previously that although the group started with 7 boys with the same goal, it now consists of 7 men on one boat, each with their eyes set on different horizons. i believe that with namjoon’s collaborations with more and more overseas artists (honne, fall out boy, lil nas x ect), he may have gotten himself more opportunities for solo work.

similar could be said about yoongi. the man is a musical genius and with his production of suran’s wine and heize’s we dont talk together, yoongi may also end up branching in that direction.

taehyung has expressed his interest in fashion and photography a lot over the past years. seokjin has not acted at all in his life, despite starting off to do just that. hoseok began to branch out with CNS but jimin and jungkook have seemingly little to no outside projects, either (though you could count wiom for jungkook)

the boys’ previous contract was, clearly, restricting and very demanding. i think that their new contract allows them a lot more freedom and room to establish a reputation as individuals. that isn’t to say, however, that bighit let the boys end bts as a whole and permitted them to go off and start solo careers.

from what is happening now and what has happened in the past, I do not believe that bighit would let bts disband, you can decide if that is for better or for worse. however, the only way to keep bts together and satisfied, is to give room for the members to do that what they want. i think that we may start to see some more solo projects from the members, and a lot more control and influence from the outside over bts’ music, concepts and management. ever since LY: Tear had been released, i find myself thinking that their next release will be the last one before a mass hiatus due to enlisting. this time, however, i feel like it may be their final release and concert tour before the group steps back for a while. bighit debuted a new group and is pumping a lot of money into it. they had also recently obtained an entire new company that not only has a lot of trainees of its own, but also manages Gfriend - an already debuted and established group. bighit is no longer the little underground company that relied on 7 boys to bring it out of its debts. however, it will not let its biggest source of income fall away because, at the end of the day, bighit is a company. the most likely scenario, to me, is that once seokjin and/or others enlist, bts as ot7 will go on a break, but bighit will still get to cash in through the boys’ solo work. so, we may see sneak peaks of their solo careers here and there, but bts will remain active as 7 until it can’t no more.
