Fiyero and Nessarose should be best friends methinks
#nessa deserves to cause some ruckus#and at first nobody would suspect them because how could that 'tragically beautiful girl' even do that?#and even if they find out i think they're scared of the governor#so those two are just going around doing anything#also nessa seems pratically the only person who didn't swoon upon seeing fiyero#so whenever anyone is like 'oh you spend so nuch tume with him#how is it being his girlfriend? you're so lucky'#she's like girl what are you talking about#i think if she got over her crush for boq he might also join#he'd have fun messing around but also he'd be very stressed#like he'll follow them anywhere but he will keep muttering 'we're gonna get caught oh my oz why did i agree to this i'm gonna die'#and when fiyero and elphaba get together#(this is all a au where nothing bad happens and they all go through college normally)#she'll see them come back from something covered in mud and just raise an eyebrow without saying anything#cause she just got used to it#also also i think fiyero might make nessa distance herself a bit from her father's views#expecially about elphaba#this whole rant is based on nothing but two frames in the movie#(but if anyone knows of any stage production where they are friends#let me know please!)#i should have said that before but#governor thropp can't stand fiyero#and would gladly admit it on the grounds of him beying elphaba's boyfriend#(same goes for glinda ofc)#but he's also nessa's best friend#so he has to grin and bear it#man's struggling#(good)#(should struggle even more)

i want more nuance to be entered into the discussion of the green girl sorority and how differently cynthia plays elphaba in comparison to those who came before her because while a lot of people are rightfully like "why was elphaba not black from the beginning" and celebrating that she is now being played by a black woman, i think we need to be careful in just writing off all the elphabas of the past as Random White Girls when the role was championed (and often followed/succeeded) by a jewish woman
the pop culture archetype of the Wicked Witch has deep roots in antisemitism stretching faaaar far back. there is a level of reclamation happening in casting idina menzel, a jewish woman, to play the Misunderstood and Maligned young girl who is branded as exactly that. and stage!Elphaba is also written and acted with jewish stereotypes in mind--she is loud, aggressive, no-nonsense, blunt. she is quick to advocate for herself and shut down the discrimination she faces. all of this is very intentional! her personality is abrasive from years of abuse, and that makes propagandizing her easy. this is literally the thesis statement of the musical--it's not about aptitude, it's the way you're viewed.
cynthia's performance of elphaba is fucking INSPIRED despite going in a completely different direction. she's much more reserved, analytical, one of her key character traits is how well she can read people (see her calling out Galinda as insecure/putting on airs in their first scene together, clocking that Fiyero is using his party guy persona as a shield for his own depression) elphaba's attempts to blend in and make herself smaller all fail simply because of her existence, if not that then because she feels empathy so strongly she often struggles to hold back from acting, protecting.
personality wise, though, cynthia's elphaba is very quiet and closed-off, not at all the bullet-to-the-face that she is in the stage show, and... she still gets propagandized and maligned. though this seems to contradict the other interpretation, it tells of the other end of the spectrum of propaganda, one that black women watching (and many, MANY other marginalized folks) are sure to identify with--it does not matter how "nice," how reserved, how small a black woman makes herself. a racist society will still scrutinize her every action for a way to parse ill intent from it, brand her as an angry black woman who is dangerous and wicked, and write off any humanity she has in the process.
these two very different interpretations tell of the lie of assimilation. the fact of the matter is, when you are marginalized, there is no way to sand down your edges enough to make the people oppressing you "accept" you. that is why wicked is a tragedy at its core. whether loud and aggressive or quiet and unimposing, there is nothing elphaba could have done to make the people of Oz see her as anything other than a scapegoat to blame all their problems on.
so while i definitely appreciate that people are excited for black girl era elphaba, i would encourage us all to still show appreciation for what came before--that was not white girl era elphaba. that was jewish girl era elphaba. two houses, both alike in dignity, two stories both worth being told.
#wordy wendy#wicked#wicked movie#wicked 2024#wendy rambles#wendy meta#honestly i get chills whenever im watching the movie#and it gets to 'her green skin is a twisted manifestorial of her true nature#' what a wham line. literally makes me sick to hear.

Elphaba: You’re charged with…..breaking into a pet store?
Fiyero: I thought the animals might be lonely.
Fiyero: I could kill you if I wanted.
Elphaba: Yeah? So could any other human being. So could a dog. So could a dedicated duck. You aren't special.
Galinda, shooing Elphaba away: Can you go be depressed over there? You’re bumming out my whole area.
Elphaba: Wait a minute, how did this happen? We're smarter than this!
Fiyero: Apparently, we're not.
Glinda : Can you cut me some slack, Elphaba? I’m sort of in love.
Elphaba: I’m sorry, but that’s really not my problem.
Glinda : I’m in love with you.
Elphaba: *blushes* Oh. That brings me in the loop a little.
Fiyero: So, how long have you and Elphaba been together?
Glinda : No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Elphaba and I are not together. No. No.
Fiyero: Really? Sixteen ‘nos’? Really?
Fiyero: Quitting! It's like trying, but easier.
Elphaba: I dare you-
Glinda : Fiyero is not allowed to accept dares anymore.
Elphaba: Why not?
Fiyero: "I have no regard for my own or others personal safety", as some would say.
Fiyero: Come on, Glinda . Nobody actually believes that Elphaba is in love with me.
Glinda , to The Squad: Raise your hand if you think that Elphaba is helplessly in love with Fiyero.
*Everyone raises their hand*
Fiyero: Elphaba, put your hand down.
Elphaba: I fell—
Glinda : From heaven?
Elphaba: No, I literally fell—
Glinda : In love with me the moment you saw me?
Elphaba: MY ARM IS BROKEN!
Glinda : Okay, but do you think I'm pretty? Be honest.
Elphaba: There are no friends when playing board games. I am here to win.
Glinda : You got a date yet Fiyero?
Fiyero: No...
Glinda : Well you do now! Get your ass up and hold my hand!
Elphaba: If I say I love you, will you say it back?
Glinda : Yes.
Elphaba: I love you.
Glinda : It back.
*Later*
Fiyero: Why is Elphaba crying face-down on the floor?
Fiyero: I feel like the world would be better if I'd never been born.
Glinda : Aw... that's not true.
Glinda : It'd be exactly the same.
Glinda : You're not important.
Elphaba: This is a very powerful artifact. You’d be messing with some forces we don’t fully understand.
Fiyero: That sounds like a dare to me.
Elphaba: Oh my god.
Elphaba: Hey, no, you stay out of this, this is between me and Fiyero!
Glinda : So Fiyero knows about this?
Elphaba, walking away: No, this is between me and me!
Elphaba: Jellyfish have survived for 600,000 years without brains…
Fiyero: A ray of hope for me!
Elphaba: I didn't drink that much last night.
Glinda : You were flirting with Fiyero.
Elphaba: So what? They're my partner.
Glinda : You asked if they were single.
Glinda : And then you cried when they said they weren't.
Elphaba: The next time I open up to someone, it'll be my autopsy.
Elphaba: If bees can be fish and boys can be girls, then why can't my dad love me?
Fiyero: I thought I was going to have to yell at you, but now I think I should hug you.
Glinda : Dammit, you ruin everything!
Elphaba: You're welcome.
Elphaba: Two years ago, I married my best friend.
Elphaba: Glinda is still mad about it, but me and Fiyero were drunk and thought it was funny.
Fiyero: Physically, yes, I could fight a bird, but emotionally? Imagine the toll!

day #13: mistletoe
modern au fiyero x gn!reader, 1k words a/n: had a request for mistletoe fiyero. didn't think they celebrated christmas in oz, so i improvised. also, jonathan bailey is so pookie. that is all. tw: reader is overstimulated? alcohol consumption, pre-established relationship but no one knows until now, momentary boq slander but it's lighthearted and not serious at all i promise
Christmas parties for rich people were the worst. Scratch that—parties in general sucked.
From the spiked egg nogg and punch that somehow ended up in everyone's red solo cup, to the obnoxiously loud music that someone decided to play, it all royally sucked.
A game of charades was happening in one of the many living rooms of Galinda's mansion, a few party-goers were out in the backyard looking at the snow while smoking something that definitely wasn't a cigarette, and a strand of mistletoe hung from the ceiling, just out of reach so no one in their right mind could tear it down.
It mocked you.
Called you weak. Useless. Most definitely alone.
Okay, okay, maybe that's a lie and the egg nogg was getting to your very senses.
How did you even get invited to this shit?
Oh.
Right. Galinda. Something about Fiyero, Elphaba, class... It all kind of just melded together after a moment.
Fiyero had begged you at some point, saying it would be so much fun. That if you came, he wouldn't leave your side, wouldn't stop holding your hand.
He's such a liar. But it is what it is. You can't expect such a popular man like him to only stick with you at a party of this caliber, could you?
You sighed and got to your feet, checking your phone. To put it simply, this party was a bust for you. You had hoped to get something out of it, anything, but honestly, all you had gotten was a mild panic attack from the loud noises and the inkling of a headache that riddled it's way deep into your bones.
It was nearly midnight.
You began to make your way to the door, pulling out your phone to call a friend to come and pick you up. Maybe text your boyfriend and tell him you were just going home.
You didn't make it very far when he calls your name.
You quickly whipped your head around to see him—Fiyero.
He had disappeared after your second cup of punch and your first cup of egg nogg (which was much better here than you imagined—perhaps the spiked part muted out the rest of it). He has that sweet little smile of his as he walked over to you.
He pointed up to the ceiling once he came upon you.
"Mistletoe," he simply said.
You stared him down before your eyes flickered upwards. He was right—mistletoe hung just above you. Of course it did.
You couldn't ever catch a break, could you?
You grumbled under your breath, rolling your eyes. "For fuck's sake."
He grinned at you. "I mean, I feel like that's a bit too far for mistletoe, but if you want to—"
"Oh my god, stop it!"
He let out a laugh at your mild anguish, a smile forming on his lips. "Come now, love, it's just mistletoe. We could kiss if you wanted."
You blinked slowly. Is that what you wanted? To kiss him?
Yes. Oh, god, you've wanted to kiss him for ages now. Not just little pecks here and there, on the check or on the forehead.
Christmas party at Galinda's be damned. You'd wanted to know how he kissed for months. A real, public kiss, that showed everyone that you belonged to him and vice versa. A kiss that would change how everyone saw your relationship between each other.
"Don't tell me you're trying to leave, love," he softly said, motioning towards your phone. "Party's not even really started if you ask me."
You huffed. "I didn't ask you," you said. "You've ignored me most of the night. I've resorted talking to Boq and my cup of egg nogg like a crazy person."
He snorted softly. "You are being ridiculous," he said. "I did spend time with you."
"Right, right," you said, crossing your arms over your chest. "Before you went off and left me with Boq."
"Is Boq truly all that bad?"
You pouted up at him.
He smiled down at you, tilting his head as he watched you. "Now. I'll repeat myself," he said. "Mistletoe. Christmas party. People all around."
You took a moment to realize just how many people were in the living room. Had you really been that much in your mind that you didn't realize the crowd that had migrated inside?
"Kiss or no kiss. It's up to you," he said.
"Maybe I'll go grab Boq. Kiss him under the mistletoe instead."
He snorted softly. "You wouldn't."
You narrowed your eyes at him. You go to walk back to the sofa where you saw Boq's red curls.
He quickly reached out and grabbed your wrist.
"Do not do that," he said, narrowing his eyes at you. "Come on, please," he said. "I'm sorry for disappearing on you. I didn't mean to."
You huffed softly. You knew he was being earnest—you could see it in his eyes. You looked away, frowning.
He gently nudged your cheek with his knuckle. "Look at me," he softly said. "Let me prove to you how sorry I am."
You gave a quick and curt nod, and he immediately leaned forward, a hand to the back of your neck as he pulled you in for a rather deep kiss.
Lips molding with yours, his hand at the base of your neck fitting just perfectly. His teeth gently nipped at your bottom lip, and you would have granted him access had it not been for the need to breathe. Damn alcohol inhibiting all of your senses.
You sucked in a soft breath as you looked up at him, feeling the warmth of... something spread throughout your body. What was it? It wasn't anxiety. Wasn't excitement. No, no... it was...
"Do you know how long I've wanted to do that for?" Fiyero asked, leaning forward and pressing a second but rather quick kiss to your lips. "Ages, love."
You licked your lips nervously. Oh, you knew that feeling well. Joy.
Perhaps Christmas parties weren't all that bad.
They seemed to make your secret boyfriend not-so-secret after all (judging by the hush and the bruises that now rested on several partygoers' arms).
You tossed your phone onto the sofa nearby, hands gently gripping at his jacket. You pulled him close and kissed him again, feeling as his arms wrapped around you.
Lips to lips, bodies to bodies, the mistletoe watched as its tradition granted yet another kiss to those who deserve it.

something there | teaser
movie! Fiyero Tigelaar x gn!reader
Synopsis: When Fiyero suggests a group date activity with Galinda and Elphaba to try and quell the tension between the two, you agree, not knowing that these two might have a common goal in sight as well. (And maybe playing matchmaker wasn’t the only thing on Fiyero’s mind when he suggested the idea …)
AN: based off of this concept post. I'm so sorry that it's taking me this long to write this, but this story is turning out to be a beast, I'm nearly 4k words in and the actual group date hasn't even happened yet. I might have to split the final shabang into two parts, we'll see. please be just a bit more patient with me <3
Your doubts didn’t seem to phase Fiyero in the slightest. Actually, it seemed that the more vocal you became in voicing your concerns, the more determined to see this through to the end - and see it through successfully - Fiyero became.
Not even Elphaba’s irritated expression, when he cornered you and her after dinner the following evening, seemed to intimidate him, which, you had to admit grudgingly, was a feat in and of itself. Because while you liked Elphaba very much - when she wasn’t using her breath on venting about Galinda that was - and valued her friendship, she could be quite intimidating.
If she’d looked at you the way she was currently looking at Fiyero, you were sure that you’d have already crumbled under her withering glare.
As it was, Fiyero merely shrugged, smirking, when she said, her voice dripping with irritation: „And why in Oz’s name would you do that?“ (Fiyero had just announced that he wanted to invite you two for dinner in a fancy restaurant in town the next evening.)
„Because I want to spend some time with my best friend’s other friends - get to know them myself, you know“, he said, an easy smile on his face, as he walked closer to you and slid an arm around your waist, the gesture so casual, so natural, almost as if it was something he did all the time.
It wasn’t. Because while Fiyero had always been extremely affectionate and not even your sister’s irritated glare when he’d casually grab your hand and lace your fingers together or gently touch your arm to get your attention could discern him, he usually didn’t do something like this.
This felt new and dangerous and thrilling and - you liked it.
You liked being this close to Fiyero, feeling his body right next to yours, heat radiating off him, even though it caused your heart to start beating frantically in your chest, your palms to sweat and your cheeks to flush.
Sweet Oz, what was happening to you?
Because this really wasn’t the moment for you to be this flustered and confused by Fiyero’s shenanigans, not when Elphaba’s irritated, hostile glare was still fixed on him.
„I see“, Elphaba said dryly, her tone clearly indicating that she didn’t understand at all and that she wasn’t very interested in hearing more.
„I mean - I already know you’re great, I’ve already heard so much about you, but I thought that we two should get to know each other as well, get to spend some time together, if you know what I mean.“
At this, he actually winked at Elphaba.
Elphaba was having none of it though, raising her eyebrows pointedly. „And what if I happen to not share that sentiment?“
„Well, then I’d be very disappointed“, Fiyero said, shaking his head. „I mean, I was quite looking forward to discussing Dr. Clover’s lecture over dinner with you - I happen to admire his work as well -, but no can do, I guess …“
„You want to go to Dr. Clover’s lecture with us?“, Elphaba said, the surprise in her voice mirroring your own. You hadn’t heard of this particular aspect of Fiyero’s plan yet, and his satisfied smirk told you that he knew - or at least thought so - he’d won Elphaba over.

I don’t know where these haters get their delusions from.
If they watched Act 2 of Wicked properly, they would realise the truth.
It’s not Glinda who saves Elphaba from being wicked in the end. It’s Fiyero.
Glinda might have come to Kiamo Ko to warn her about the witch hunters. But Elphaba doesn’t care. She only gives up when she reads the letter from Fiyero, realises he’s still alive and that they have a chance to be together.
She killed the wicked witch so that they could start over, somewhere else, away from Oz.
Love saved Elphaba in the end. But it sure as hell wasn’t Glinda’s love.

Shipping Fiyero and Boq is really funny just because I picture them being best friends but then both going for Glinda, but then she gets with Elphaba so they're just like "Damn, well- Guess it's time for plan B"
Just three bisexuals all being into the same girl, but when she makes her choice the other two get together instead

I’m reading the script for the Wicked movie (which you can also read here if you scroll down!) and believe me I am so in love with the movie as is but some of the stuff we could have gotten?? Anyways I’ve compiled some of the new (old?) info, scenes, and changes in case you don't want to read the whole thing
‼️SPOILERS FOR WICKED PART ONE AND TWO‼️
In the intro, we were supposed to see Dorothy and co leaving Kiamo Ko with the broomstick
Glinda gets interrupted like she does in the Broadway version ("how dead is she?")
Different bullying scene witht he munchkin kids
they throw rocks at her??
Galinda meeting Pfannee and Shenshen
Elphaba and Nessa are both in their 20s
Morrible canonically has great shoes
No one lets Elphaba sit with them :(
Elphaba's vision in Something Bad is a black and white barn, presumably in our world, which is GENIUS. Elphaba is so powerful because she's a child of both worlds, and in The Wizard of Oz, our world is in black and white
We get a name for Fiyero's horse- Feldspur
A montage of everyone learning about Fiyero's arrival, including Boq riding an Ozian bicycle which i would have loved to see, considering the bikes in the movie are disappointingly normal
A lot of moments with Nessa being infatuated with Boq before he asks her out
A whole subplot with Aravic (a character from the books) being in love with Nessa
We get way more info about what the animals are going through. They need permits to speak, and when dr Dillamond went to a cafe he was shown to the “non speaking section”. The animal teachers have separate quarters that are small and rundown
Fiyero immediately adopts Boq as his best friend
Like Fiyero sing the beginning of Dancing through life to Boq specifically
Boq offers his hankerchief to Galinda instead of forcing her to take it and she accepts it
basically they did my guy Boq right in this script and I'm sad it didn't entirely translate to screen because I love him
Galinda redirects Boq to Nessa because she doesn't want to hurt his feelings
A turtle guards the door to the Ozdust. Fiyero bribes him to get in and Morrible just intimidates him by glaring
we were supposed to get the punch line :(
They are all drunk at the Ozdust
Students are actually worried when they see their teacher at the illegal nightclub they're all at instead of not caring
Elphaba, Galinda, Fiyero, Boq, and Nessa all dance together
The montage after popular is phenomenal and I'm so sad that they cut it, I'm going to make a whole separate post about it because I have a lot of feelings
Galinda genuinely thinks Elphaba is beautiful
HUGE Fiyero Scarecrow reference (We could go this way? Or that way?)
The flying contraption that the Wizard sends says Omaha State Fair on the side
Morrible can only do weather magic
There was a tiny Wizard and I reprise
Dulcibear comes to see Elphaba off to the Emerald City
Boq confronts Galinda about leading him on
Elphaba and Boq have a conversation about romantic feelings and I want to see it so bad
Wiz-o-mania was going to be a theme park ride
Dr Dillamond's glasses are in Elphaba's pocket when she meets the Wizard
Tiny Sentimental Man reprise
They don't crash the balloon, just use it to get to the attic space
Fiyero turns away from Boq and rides away on his horse during Defying Gravity
TLDR: It's largely the same movie, but some major changes were made and I need a director's cut STAT

I have a theory about Wicked Part 2 and what they are going to add to it, and why it's going to add so much to the movie.
I think they are going to add Dorothy's POV.
In the musical, she's mentioned, but Dorothy never appears on stage. We never know her POV or how much she knew about the witches, Fiyero, Boq, the lion, or what was actually going on in Wicked beyond the Wizard of Oz plot. But in the Wicked two trailers, we see scenes of Dorothy and those scenes are shot as if from the Wizard of Oz, not the traditional Wicked musical, in which Dorothy's character is only briefly mentioned or shown as a shadow. Which means we're going to get to see her story this time!
However, if I was going to include Dorothy's POV for Wicked, I don't think it would be anything like the Wizard of Oz, for a few clear reasons:
Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz is a perceptive and animated child and unless they plan on erasing that aspect of her character, she is not going to go home from Oz at the end of the Wicked movie with the same beliefs as the Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz. She sees the Wizard is a fraud and calls him out just like Elphaba does. Besides this, there is no way she would just not pick up on the fact that Galinda, the dead witch, Boq, Fiyero, Elphaba, and the lion have a deeper history together than meets the eye for the entire trip.
This one might sound stupid, but trust me, it's important: Toto as a character. Here me out. In the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy's distress in the real world is centered around a mean lady trying to drown her dog and the Witch of the West tries to do the same in Oz. However, in this version, Elphaba's whole thing is animal rights. She'd probably be horrified that Toto can't talk or Dorothy would be surprised and delighted to find that in this world, Toto can talk depending on what they decide to do with the dog. And if Dorothy comes to this world distressed about a lady trying to kill her poor dog, Elphaba would surely empathize. There might even be a misunderstanding between them if Elphaba believes Dorothy is working for the Wizard and Toto is a dog that needs rescuing.
So how does this change things?
There are a number of wonderful options.
The most obvious one is that we could see Dorothy put together and discover the story of Boq, Nessarose, Galinda, Elphaba, Fiyero, and the Wizard. She and the rest of the gang would formulate a plan to help Elphaba fake her death to save her from the people of Oz and the Wizard.
Within that narrative, we could see Elphaba enchanting the sleeping poppies to stop them from getting to the Wizard with the goal of protecting them from the Wizard (rather than to stop them from getting home). In Act 2 of Wicked, the Wizard again tries to form an alliance with Elphaba but Elphaba rejects his offer when she discovers what he's done to her Animal friends. It's possible that Elphaba believes the Wizard is trying to use Dorothy too and is trying to protect her from the same fate.
We could also see conversations between Dorothy and Fiyero about Elphaba (and there are many AO3 fics that have been going with that concept. I see y'all, thank you for doing the Lord's work 🙏🏻) and possibly some conversations between Dorothy and Boq since they'll be traveling together and we don't really get to hear about Boq's ending in the musical. I think the last we see of Boq is that he's angry at Elphaba for his condition and rallying crowds against her, but with all that traveling time and secrets coming out, I could see him getting, I don't know if I'd call it a "redemption arc" per say, but finding his heart again (a real one). Additionally, conversations between Dorothy and the lion about how Elphaba saved him would be nice too. Even if the lion had learned to blame Elphaba for what happened to him, I'm sure Dorothy would be quick to correct him once she discovered the full truth.
But my favorite, my absolute favorite and darkest possibility is the interactions that Dorothy can have with the Wizard. In the Wizard of Oz, she exposes him as a fraud, but in the Wicked movie, he's much worse than that, and I can totally see Dorothy being the one to point that out to him. Why?
First of all, Dorothy is not from Oz. Most people there would never question the Wizard, but if he's so powerful and generous, why is he sending an innocent little girl and three down-on-their-luck guys to go murder his dangerous enemy? That right there is a red flag, and again, if they don't change Dorothy's character, she's going to be a very honest child and comment on how strange this is.
Second of all, if anything I speculated above is true and Dorothy realizes this the Wizard is an animal abuser who vilified an innocent woman, she's going to be very angry at the Wizard, and rightfully so (I hope Toto bites him).
Third of all, and here's where it gets good: in the musical Wicked, the Wizard discovers he is Elphaba's father at the very end because of the bottle Galinda has. Dorothy is not on stage for that because she's not in the main cast of the musical, only mentioned by the other characters, but what if she was? What if she's the one that discovers the connection? What if she calls him out the exact same way Elphaba did after the Wizard gave his little "I always wanted to be a father" speech?
What if the Wizard had a little animal-loving girl who reminds him so much of the daughter he just sent to her to kill standing in front of him with a horrified expression while he puts the pieces together?
What if Dorothy's POV in Wicked isn't about her exposing the Wizard as a nervous fraud, but as a heartless monster?
What if Dorothy's POV is about her exploring this new world and discovering for herself who is truly wicked or good?

An In Depth Study of Fiyero and Elphaba's interactions in the Dancing Through Life/Ozdust Scene in Wicked the Movie
As a follow on from the post I made the other day analysing the Fiyeraba movie meeting scene, I wanted to do an analysis on the movie’s take on the other Fiyero and Elphaba interactions.
I am writing an analysis of the Lion Cub scene too, but it’s over 1000 words and they’re still only on their bikes. So I thought I’d split this up and post the DTL/Ozdust Fiyeraba analysis. It’s a small one, give Fiyero and Elphaba don’t speak to each other during this scene, but there’s some interesting things to note.
The moment where Fiyero waves at Elphaba, while Elphaba rolls her eyes at him is a good way to confirm both of their feelings about each other in this moment. Fiyero has no hard feelings about Elphaba from the day before (and he’s certainly not taken his cue from how the rest of the student body treats her). If anything, she’s interested him and it’s made him more determined to befriend her and prove he’s got nothing against her. Elphaba, however, still thinks he’s like everyone else and is mocking her for her skin, and him playing up the dumb playboy act even louder, now he has an audience, is not helping at all, and she leaves mid scene. While we see Elphaba’s views of Fiyero at this stage in the musical with this line “It's absurd! This silly, rich boy appears and everyone's off to worship him at some cultish social gathering!” getting Fiyero’s feelings for Elphaba here is new and is a nice addition to his character.
The second important moment is Fiyero’s line in the Ozdust about Elphaba, “Well I’ll say this much, she doesn’t give a twig what anyone thinks.” It is a line taken directly from the musical but it hits slightly differently here. In the musical this line is said because Fiyero cares so much about what everyone else thinks that he rewrites his entire personality and he envies Elphaba for apparently not doing the same. The thing is, with the meeting scene in the movie where Fiyero calls out Elphaba’s defensiveness, we know that Fiyero has already sussed out Elphaba uses aggression as a defence mechanism, he knows she cares what other people think and puts on an act too – so instead this line can be read as Fiyero going “I’m impressed she’s brave enough to do what she wants despite knowing people will judge her for it” which has a nice link to him admiring what she does in Defying Gravity at the beginning of Act 2, “You know who could [resist being popular for doing what is right]. Who has.” As well as foreshadowing his act 2 character development when he too gives up the love of the people to do what is right.
We also get a few shots of Fiyero dancing along enthusiastically and looking admiringly at Galinda and Elphaba together through the Gelphie dance scene. It’s actually toned down from in the musical where he’s the first to go over and talk to Elphaba and Galinda when everyone starts joining in, (which I get – he doesn’t really need to be in this important Gelphie moment), but I think what it does imply is finally a change in Elphaba’s attitude towards him. She’s given Galinda a second chance, Galinda joining in has allowed her to let her guard down and Fiyero, as always is nothing but supportive of her. It’s very easy from this scene to see that, logically, Elphaba will be happy to start afresh with her perception of Fiyero too.

Went on a rant about why throuple and thought I should share my rambling thoughts here too
Starting with Fiyero. Fiyero who’s given up before even starting. He doesn’t want to try. He likes Galinda because they can have dumb fun together, they both know how to charm people, how to brighten the mood, they are a social power couple. But as Elphaba points out, as much fun as he’s having, he’s still miserable because he hates being so shallow. Elphaba makes him think, makes him consider things outside of himself. And while Fiyero doesn’t want to try, both girls are going to try so hard. They’re both so passionate, it makes him passionate.
Galinda is a stereotypical popular girl. She wanted Fiyero because he’s a prince, that fits in her fantasy. But they genuinely have so much chemistry, have so much fun together. They’re so similar and that’s comforting. But it’s Elphaba that broadened her horizons. Galinda is kind, deep down, she’s just a spoiled rich girl who never had to consider these things before. Hell, the only reason she hated Elphaba is because she’s being a baby about having to share a room. When they first met she tried to be nice. It was condescending but Galinda genuinely didn’t even realize. She wants to be kind to everyone, she does want to help. And as the song says, they have been changed for good. Elphaba made her realize she was being shallow, that there’s more. Galinda always wanted to be kind, she was just going about it wrong. Elphaba helps her be good in a better way. Also the whole scene at the ozdust, that act of kindness that Elphaba extended to her made her realize she was being awful to someone who didn’t deserve it.
And then there’s Elphaba. Elphaba who’s convinced no one could ever love her. Of course she was going to be antagonistic to Galinda, she’s being defensive, she can’t imagine a world where someone like Galinda could ever be kind to her. She was just giving Galinda the same energy she was giving her. But once they overcome that, they so easily communicate. Galinda is so easy going, so open, she wants to know Elphie, makes her feel safe to open up. With Fiyero it’s the fact that he doesn’t care. She’s green? So what? What does that matter? But she’s clever and sassy, he likes that. He sasses back, they have a little battle of words. Fiyero likes to pretend he’s stupid, but he’s not. He can keep up with her thoughts. He sees what she cares about and is more than willing to help. Galinda gets her to smile and Fiyero gets her to relax.
Elphaba needs support and at two different points both Galinda and Fiyero give her that. Galinda gives her the push yo take that jump, gives her the cloak that says I can’t come with you but I believe in you. Fiyero holds the wizard hostage for her! They’re both so proud of their girlfriend!

8 + elphaba & fiyero?
8 ⧽. giving them unabashed heart eyes when they do something cute and getting caught
AHHH MY FIRST FIYERABA PROMPT I AM SO EXCITED!!! I’ve been wanting to write for them since I got out of Wicked last week. Hopefully this is okay!
—
Fiyero Tigelaar isn’t exactly known for thinking. In fact, all he’s ever projected to his fellow students is that he doesn’t think, that he simply dances through life and refuses to invite further stresses and woes in with further consideration. And yet. He hasn’t been able to keep her out of his mind. Elphaba Thropp, the spirited, stunning witch he’d nearly trampled on accident in the forest. She’s the very reason he finds himself in the library of all places, a location he actively avoids. Books are mirrors just as much as they are windows into different worlds, and the last thing he wants to do is risk seeing himself reflected within the pages of some myth or legend.
She’s sitting at her favorite table, her head bent, her braids pulled back away from her face. Her finger traces a singular line a few times over before it moves on, winding itself around the ends of a few of her braids. She’s reading (no surprise there), but what catches his eye isn’t what she’s doing. It’s that she’s smiling. Fiyero doesn’t think he has ever seen Elphaba smile, not like the one she wears now. Something soft and secret, wholly hers, belonging to no one else. Unbeknownst to him, his own face mirrors her expression, a soft smile settled upon his lips. He watches her because he can’t help himself, because he’s still intrigued by her even when she’s silent.
“I can see you, you know.”
Elphaba’s eyes flicker up, catching his gaze and holding it hostage. Fiyero doesn’t flinch, only shrugs.
“I wasn’t certain you could. You’re missing your glasses today. I’m glad to know you’re so attuned to my presence, though.” Her eyes roll quickly, and that same fondness appears in his.
“Maybe in your dreams, Tigelaar.”
“So you dream about me, Thropp?”
She shakes her head, and he flashes a charming grin at her.
“What exactly happens in these dreams?”
“What do you want? You were staring rather intensely, so you must want something.”
Fiyero moves closer to her, settling a few steps away from where she is seated.
“Can’t a man admire beauty from afar?”
Elphaba frowns immediately.
“You don’t have to lie.”
He shocks himself by lowering his voice, the softness of his tone matched evenly by its authenticity.
“I’m not lying.”
Something flashes behind Elphaba’s eyes. He can’t tell what it is — she tears her gaze away from his before he is able to determine it.
When she speaks, it is barely audible.
“Why were you looking at me like that?”
Her eyes, so wide, a beautifully deep green, return to seek his out. The prince’s words are barely above a whisper, the blue of his own eyes holding hers steadily.
“You know why.”
Elphaba takes a sharp breath, biting down on her lip. She takes her book and stands abruptly, nearly running into him in her rush to leave.
“Elphaba — ” Fiyero says, confused, laying a gentle hand on her wrist to stop her. He’s thankful she does, and he uses his other hand to brush his fingers beneath her chin, turning her head so he can see her face. He’s shocked to find tears welling up in her eyes.
“You are a lot of things, Fiyero,” she whispers, her voice shaking, “but I never thought you were cruel. Not like this.”
“You don’t have to believe me.”
His own whisper is an impassioned blurt.
“You don’t have to believe me, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t true. That what I feel for you isn’t real.”
“It can’t be real.”
“It is.”
They are locked in a stalemate he never expected, but one he refuses to leave first. He feels it, when she begins to break down. He takes a step closer, cupping her cheek in his hand, his other holding hers.
“Tell me you don’t feel it too.”
He will leave her alone, he will, if she doesn’t. She’s close enough to him that their chests brush together with every breath they take.
“I can’t.”
The sound of heels clicking cuts through their moment.
“Meet me tonight,” Fiyero murmurs into her ear, “the woods. Eight o’clock.” Elphaba nods, and he takes off then, nearly crashing into Galinda as she puts herself in his path.
“There you are!” she chirps, as bright and bubbly as ever, “I’ve been looking everywhere for you, dearest.”
Fiyero lets her steer him away from the outside of the library and chatter on. He doesn’t hear a word she says; he’s too busy thinking of what will come when the sun sets and he can finally see the woman’s who’s forced him into thinking again.

Fiyerabas love to get on Twitter and tumblr and say stuff like “well fiyero would’ve went with Elphaba in a heartbeat” and act as if that’s a groundbreaking statement. We know what happens in act 2. We know he leaves everything behind for her. The reason why Glinda can’t do that is because she’s an actual nuanced character that has depth to her. She has something to lose. We see how she was brought up in the world. We know that she is a coward. Why WOULDN’T fiyero go with Elphaba? Nothing about his character is complex enough for that to be an option.
Fiyero’s whole character is built on a single characteristic (pretending not to care when he actually does) that is so underdeveloped it’s actually laughable. Why does he pretend not to care? There is not a single thing about him that actually tells us why he acts like that. It just comes out as him being an annoying jerk, even in the movie. His whole character arc is pretending not to care and then caring because of Elphaba. OF COURSE he’d go with her. That’s what his whole personality is based on.
Not to mention the fact that even with him being Elphaba’s ride or die, he’s still boring and his decision to be with her is incredibly unmoving. No one would expect anything else. And even with them ending up together, Elphaba still longs to be with Glinda. She still longs to tell her she’s alive. Fiyero is a boring annoying consolation prize that is a flat and undeveloped “what if” twist on Glinda if she wasn’t as much of a coward as she is. Idgaf

PAIRS/PAIRINGS - Elphaba, Glinda, Fiyero x YOU/READER
A-Z FLUFF PROMPTS for the leads
Masterlist 12
Elphaba/Elphie
𝑠ℎ𝑒 would be hesitant to open to you at first but it would be a stereotypical “friends to lovers” for your pairing. Slow to open up, but wholly adoring and loyal when you’re together
Would never want to jeopardize your relationship together, even if the odds are stacked against you both. Has a gentle, caring side to her that makes you feel safe.
Melts into your hugs. It was rare she bee got such a loving embrace but she sighs deeply into it when you hold her close.
Glinda
𝑠ℎ𝑒 can be very affectionate, leaning much into the PDA territory, just comes along with her popularity and her pride of being with you. But she also has a gentler side that only you get to see. And of course she drops the “I love you” first!
Wants the whole picture perfect “white picket fence” life with you, but even if they proves to be too saccharine, she will never hesitate to go to lengths to make sure your happiness is first.
Fiyero
𝒉𝒆 is wholly adoring and loyal and loving to you, felt first and fell hard, says “I love you” and envisions a life you two have built together
He remembers all the “firsts” and always wants to commemorate the occasion(s) with you, treasuring all your secrets as you have for him

Elphaba is a runner. She runs every morning but finds it more peaceful to run either super late at night or super early in the morning while the world is still asleep
Glinda notices when she wakes up that Elphaba is missing and freaks out but she is too tired to get up and look because it is 3 in the morning and Elphie could just be in the bathroom.
Glinda decides to wake up and find out where Elphaba goes but she needs her beauty sleep so she enables the help of Fiyero to watch over elphie.
Fiyero sees Elphaba leave the dorm late at night and follows her to a clearing in the woods where she does her pre run warm up and then takes off around a pond
He is completely enamored and confused because he’s dating Glinda and loves her but now has a crush on Elphaba to?!
Glinda and Fiyero both talk and come to the conclusion that they both want to kiss Elphaba so the two idiots decide to follow Elphaba into the woods one day
Elphaba thinks she’s gonna die and goes into fight or flight where her instinct is the fight
Fiyero has to pick her up to get her to stop yelling before someone thinking’s they are actually hurting her
Years later they still go to the clearing together on there anniversary to remember the day they all realized they love each-other

Forget-Me-Not
Fiyero x F!Reader idea
You were everything to Fiyero, and he’d do anything to keep you safe from harm. He’d lay down his life for you if it came to it. You grew up together in Winkie Country.
Playing in the yellow sand on the shores of the beach, collecting seashells and playing in the ocean.
You promised to always be there for each other, sharing in indirect kiss using a seashell as a symbol of your friendship as well your love for each other.
After shiz university he proposed to you he became captain of the guard so he could find Elphaba your friend
You were scared when he disappeared searching for him endlessly. Barely getting any sleep. You cried for hours hand on your growing stomach searching for your missing fiancée
then maybe you stumble upon Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, and Lion.
Your new motherly instincts kick in and you decide to help the group maybe being able to find your fiancée. Something felt familiar with the scarecrow thoses eyes reminded you of the same eyes that you could get lost in for hours
Imagine the baby kicking and the reader letting the scarecrow feel the baby kick.
and imagine him comforting you when you start crying feeling as if you might never see him again and then you bring out that he gave you before he disappeared
And fight whispers your name
