Japanese Skaters' Favorite Shoma Uno Programs and Their Reasons
This was in the Figure Skating Team Japan Fan Book for the 2024-2025 season, which had Shoma on its cover along with both a pretty substantial Shoma interview and Stephane interview about Shoma.
For Shoma's retirement, the magazine made a special column to include the active Japanese skaters (and Satoko) messages to Shoma, as well as their favorite Shoma programs. A friend helped in sharing and translating just the favorite Shoma programs part:
Sota Yamamoto: I love so many programs. Loco is the best for me because it’s unique and cool. Turandot 2.0 (2017-2018), when I had a difficult season because of my injury, this program encouraged me. Stairway To Heaven... brushing his hair upward is so cool. Great Spirit and Dancing On My Own (2019 Nationals) He graduated from Grand Prix Tokai and struggled but he could be National champion. I was so moved and almost cried. I love Bolero. Gravity and Air On The G String, he could perform not only powerful but loss of strength and I could learn from him.
Yuma Kagiyama: I love so many programs. Loco is the best. I love Great Spirit so I chose Believer last season (2022-2024 SP). I watched and watched Great Spirit on YouTube and I can skate its step sequence.
Shun Sato: Of course I love Ladies in Lavender. And Great Spirit.
Kazuki Tomono: I love Legends (2015-2016) so much because it’s first SP as a senior skater. His image as a skater changed a lot and it was impressive.
Koshiro Shimada: I love Loco at Helsinki Worlds (2017) the best. And Everything Everywhere All At Once and Bolero. At first Shoma mentioned about Bolero, “It’s so difficult and I can’t.” Finally he could do great performance and win at Worlds (2022) and it was what Stephane wanted to see I think. I was so moved and I almost got goosebumps.
Kao Miura: I love Loco the best because the balance of powerful and sensitive movements is good. I love Bolero because he seems to reach his limits. Not only jumps but each movement were so great and the last he seems to collapse because he skates so hard. I love it so much.
Nozomu Yoshioka: I love 2019-2020 season Great Spirit and Dancing On My Own. Nobody skates for such a number like Great Spirit and it’s so exciting. I like a stop before step sequence and before 3A and it’s so cool program. He struggled first half of the season so I was so moved to see Dancing On My Own at (2019) Nationals.
Tatsuya Tsuboi: I love Turandot 1.0 the best. When I was novice skater I saw his senior debut GPF (2015) and he got a bronze medal. It was so impressive and I was so moved.
Kaori Sakamoto: I love Moonlight. This season he won 4CC title. Second year 4th place, third year 3rd place, fourth year 2nd place, and finally he got gold medal. He seemed very happy on the podium and both program and costume were great. Everything was perfect.
Mone Chiba: I love the last season’s SP, Everything Everywhere All At Once, because I love the atmosphere. His step sequence expresses powerfulness and gracefulness. It’s great program so I feel it too short.
Rinka Watanabe: I love Moonlight because I’d like to express like that. His skating is like a clear (not hazy) night and it’s great.
Rion Sumiyoshi: I love many programs. I love Air On The G String because I sometimes skate it for skating lessons. It’s a very simple music but he can tell a story and he can bring a joy to audience. His technique is great.
Mai Mihara: I love many programs and each has a charm. If I choose one program, I’ll choose Turandot 2.0. Especially cantilever is really great and I was so moved and I almost got goosebumps. Both skating and expression were great.
Hana Yoshida: I have two programs in my mind. If I choose one program, I’ll choose Bolero. I forget the name
 small pattern
Great Spirit? I love the step sequence and I’d like to rewatch it.
Yuna Aoki: Turandot 2.0 is so impressive because I love princely costume and I feel his powerfulness from this program. I love it so much.
Wakaba Higuchi: I love Bolero and Turandot so much. I could see Bolero at ice shows many times and it’s impressive.
Satoko Miyahara: I love Bolero the best. Turandot 2.0 is impressive. I also love gala program Padam Padam and I always think it great.
Rino Matsuike: I love Bolero. I used to skate Moonlight, so It’s so special for me. When Mihoko-sensei choreographed this program, she said “When the music started, audience was so focused on his performance from the first moment. (He could bring audience to his world.) When I am training, I think “I’d like to perform like him.”

April Fool Interaction
"..."
"
Sir, who are you?" Minhyeok tensely stared at the tall hunk with white hair standing in his room. The guy had two small horns that contrasted clearly with his short white hair, streaked with red, indicating that he was a devil. He wasn't wearing a shirt, exposing his upper half proudly adorned with minor scars and cuts, while his stomach was covered in a bandage. Clad in black attire and white boots with red patterns and belts reminded Minhyeok of the motorcycle gang fashion from Japan in the mid-1900s.
"His eyes are unnerving," they were eye-catching for sure, with black sclera and red irises featuring a cross in the middle of his black pupil, along with unrealistically long red lashes. Unless the other man was a really dedicated cosplayer.
A low chuckle from the devil got his attention back to the possibly dangerous matter at hand. Minhyeok's eyes quickly scanned his room for his baseball bat in case he needed to run or jump out of the nearest window. However, the good-looking home invader's youthful voice gave him a double take.
"Minhyeok! How can you not recognize your best friend Ppyong?!" the devil asked in an arrogant tone, yet still with a childish feel to his speech that was mortifyingly similar to a small red devil he used to talk to.
"
 What?"
He wasn't sure if he was sober for this. He was quite sure he hadn't drunk any soju or alcoholic beverage last night when he was out with his friends at university.
"What's with the shocked face? Shouldn't you know it's me from a mile away?!" The handsome devil turned fully to him, his face marked with a boyish pout and a frown, his muscular arms crossed in front of his strong chest.
"
Nope" He wasn't willing to acknowledge this. The imagery between the small perverted red devil from before and this impressive-looking guy was too jarring to even think about.
He was about to close the door to his apartment and maybe take a walk somewhere else before his right arm was seized and dragged inside, with the door closed behind him. His back slammed into the door with a thud, the rugged bandaged arm slamming above his head. The looming presence made him look up to the devil who was currently kabedon-ing him.
"Hey, why are you running away?" Ppyong asked in a lower voice, his red brows now frowning seriously as he looked down upon Minhyeok. Normally, he would be more flustered by this kind of act from more assertive people who had tried to flirt with him before, but the flooding memories of the devil small enough to sit on his shoulder and the restroom incident from last time where the very same red lump kept harassing him for his semen, made this experience more perplexing than ever.
When he didn't answer, Ppyong only lowered his head, closing the distance between them. Minhyeok could scent the lemon caramel from his breath just by the gap alone. Minhyeok turned his head away with a blush, his heart beating uncomfortably loud in his chest.
"Miinnhhyyeeokk~" the devil said his name with a draw. Minhyeok shrunk a bit further, contemplating whether or not it was worth it to kick this fine man away from him.
"Hey! Minhyeok, why are you ignoring this great Ppyong? Did I do something wrong?" When Minhyeok tried to slither away, the white-haired devil only stopped his track with another muscular hand to his left side and a strong knee effectively blocking his other escape path, closing the space between them even further.
"This is bad
" He could feel the heat covering his entire face down to his neck, his palms pathetically sweaty and his grip on his backpack hardened.
He wasn't even hearing the barrage of questions the devil was throwing at him. "Do devils not have the concept of boundaries down there?!" He really wanted to smack away the toned chest and collarbones on his eye level and go outside to cool down from... whatever was happening right now.
That was until he heard a wet sniffle from Ppyong. When he looked up at the devil, tears had already pooled out from his pretty sharp eyes, and snot from his nose. His toned hands were now grabbing Minhyeok's shoulder.
"Minhyeok, you are not dying, are you?! I heard somewhere that humans become more quiet and avoidant when they near death!" The handsome guy opposite him was now yelling, his body trembling with tears and sadness.
"
 Excuse me?"
"So you are dying?! NO! You can't die! If you do, who will give Miss Raon human energy?! And who will give me Fererere from now on?! You can't die now!" The devil was now hugging him tightly, and Minhyeok could feel the wetness of tears and disgusting snot on his shoulder and face. For some reason, it reminded him of Raon.
Thinking back to her calmed him down despite the sheer ridiculousness of the situation right now. He should calm Ppyong down first, then get the food, laundry, and his
fluid ready, and maybe chat for a bit before sending the guy back to Hell.
"Ppyong, calm down-"
"That's it! Humans have hospitals, right? Let's get you there before you suddenly drop dead!" Before Minhyeok could register what was happening, he was easily picked up in a princess carry.
"Huh? Wait, Ppyong!-"
With a swift and determined stride and Minhyeok secure in his arms, Ppyong leaped over the apartment railing, his powerful legs propelling him from rooftop to rooftop, his steps unexpectedly light.
As Minhyeok clung to Ppyong's shoulder for dear life, the rush of wind whipped past them, tousling his hair and sending a thrill coursing through his veins. It was as if they were slicing through the night air with effortless grace, defying gravity itself. The sensation was exhilarating, yet tinged with a hint of fear as they soared from one rooftop to the next.
The wind howled in his ears, bearing the faint tang of ozone and the muted roar of distant traffic. Buildings dissolved into a kaleidoscopic blur as they soared through the nocturnal sky. With each leap, Minhyeok's heart pounded in his chest, his breath catching in his throat as he struggled to keep pace with Ppyong's determined strides.
Amidst the chaos of their rooftop escapade, Ppyong's expression was one of grim determination, his features set in a steely resolve as he focused on their journey. There was no laughter or the loud voice of pride now, only the sound of footsteps echoing against the concrete as Ppyong raced against time to reach their destination. The weight of Ppyong's urgency hung heavy in the air, a stark reminder of the 'seriousness' of the situation, which, unfortunately, was a misunderstanding.
Minhyeok's mind raced, a mixture of terror and awe, as he witnessed Ppyong's extraordinary strength and agility. He desperately tried to talk some sense into Ppyong, pleading with him to reconsider their reckless journey. But Ppyong's determination was stubborn as a mule, his focus solely on reaching the hospital in time to save Minhyeok's life from whatever unknown illness he thought the human in his arms had in his mind.
Not having it anymore, Minhyeok shouted, "You stupid idiot! Do you even know where the hospital is?!" The dumb white hair devil even had the gall to look at him in annoyance when he shouted back.
"Of course, this great devil knows! Don't worry, Minhyeok, your best friend will have your life saved no matter what!" That would have sounded genuinely comforting if it was in a different context, but it was another story when Minhyeok was perfectly healthy and the devil was going nowhere near any of the hospitals in the city. He even passed several of them during his wild parkour maneuvering through the urban night.
The irony made Minhyeok question whether to laugh or cry at this point. So he shouted the money-winning question to the himbo carrying him, "Then where is it?!"
"It-
! Where
where are we now?" Now the devil stopped on the roof of a market somewhere in Gangnam-gu and looked around with a worried face. It was a feat beyond human capabilities, really, to be able to run and jump from roof to roof without breaking a sweat, several kilometers away from Minhyeok's apartment, and yet here they were, lost.
Minhyeok massaged his head heavily to ease his headache. Moments like these made him wonder if this was one of the things Raon had to deal with in Hell. If so, then he had to give it to her. He only met one devil, and in less than a day, he already felt drained.
His tired groaning must have affected the devil since he felt a flinch when he looked up. Ppyong's face was marred with guilt and tears, which were about to flow out of his pretty eyes again. It felt like he was looking at a sad puppy rather than a powerful devil. He guessed Ppyong was no different no matter the form he took on.
With habit's ease, he let his hand gently pat the soft white hair to calm the cute guy down. It unexpectedly worked, since Ppyong seemed to melt into his touch with each passing second.
"I'm not dying. I'm just shocked at how different you look, that's all. I'm sorry for not being upfront" Ppyong seemed like he was about to protest, but Minhyeok pressed on.
"Thank you for worrying about my health, but please make sure to ask first before you jump to a conclusion like this" The sad puppy look came back again, and Ppyong mumbled an apology in his youthful voice.
"Sorry, I was too excited and wanted to show you this form, but I was scared that you were hurt somewhere
Things have been rough lately in Gehenna
 Will you forgive me?"
Minhyeok could only chuckle at the pleading sad eyes of the devil above him. He could see why Raon took a liking to devils like him. If they were honest like this, then no wonder.
"Can you get us down from here? I need to buy some groceries to make meals for you and Raon anyway. Once we are done, take me back to my apartment and wait for me to get the necessary things ready before you go"
Ppyong smiled brightly at him with an innocent gleam in his eyes, surprising Minhyeok when the devil hugged him tightly in his arms.
"Minhyeok! You're really a great guy, you know that?", he could feel the bulging muscle of the man from their close contact and it only embarrassed Minhyeok further.
"Yes, yes, okay. Now get us down and let me go afterward, okay? Also, button up your coat before we go in," he gave half-hearted slaps to Ppyong's chest, pulled himself away, and averted his eyes from the grinning devil.
"OK! Oh! And can you buy me some snacks too?"
"Sure, and tell me how Raon is doing while we're shopping."

Butterfly Poison
Fandom: Demon Slayer Pairing: Kocho Shinobu/Female Reader Rating: Explicit Warnings: Smut, almost pwp, Shinobu might be ooc, no beta Word count: 5,895 (long!) AO3 link » You and Shinobu take care of each other after a mission
Tumblr media
Being a demon slayer is not an easy job; no one would say otherwise. Whether it’s the grueling work hours, the constant traveling or having to put your life on the line night after night, it’s enough to take a toll on even the strongest members of the Corps.
While you would agree that some days you longed for an easier, less backbreaking job, you also had to admit that there were some great benefits to your line of work. You got free food and accommodations as you explored your way through Japan. You got to sleep in regularly (true, this was usually the only time you could sleep, but still). You got a little animal companion that hung out with you when off duty. And you got a cool sword! Pretty nice perks, all things considered.
But most importantly, you got to meet new people constantly. The relationships and memories you had created during your years working for the organization were more valuable to you than any other perks or moral reasons for doing what you did. And one relationship you valued above all others was the one you had forged with the Insect Hashira herself.
The two of you had crossed paths many times during your work for the Corps., and a mutual affinity (and attraction) towards each other had made you come together very quickly.
Time and time again, you found yourselves taking care of the other’s body. Shinobu would patch you up every time you limped up to the Butterfly Mansion after a particularly difficult mission, and you would always make sure to express your gratitude and return her care in other ways.
Tonight was one of such nights, as you laid on one of the Mansion’s rooms after a three day mission, your pajamas and underwear long discarded and with an equally naked Shinobu in your bed. Her knees dug into the pillow by the sides of your head as she straddled your face, your mouth lavishing her sex and eliciting the most delicious sounds out of her.
“A-ah...fuck-!”
You smirked as you felt the last strands of Shinobu’s composure begin to snap. Gripping her hips gently to keep her in place, you ran your tongue against her inner folds in lazy patterns, steadily bringing it closer and closer to her clit. Your lover, impatient as she always was in these situations, moaned in frustration and grabbed a handful of your hair, gently holding your head in place so she could better position herself against your mouth – only for your tongue to go still once it found itself against her nub. The sudden stop in movement was enough to make her look down with a frown and see your smiling eyes peeking at her from between her legs.
“Patience, dear~,” you cooed, peppering kisses on her inner thighs.
She huffed, grinding on your face to get you to put your mouth on her again. You easily dodged her attempts, to her growing frustration and your amusement.
She huffed again. “You know I’m not very pat—aah!”
Her complaint was cut off as you gave her clit a long lick with the flat of your tongue, finally willing to grant her release. As much as you loved tormenting her and having your head between her thighs, she had already been waiting long enough
and your neck was starting to get sore.
Once your mouth started moving, Shinobu began to gently rock her hips against you, fearing that any sudden movement would result in you stopping again. When she settled on a rhythm that she liked, you took your time in exploring her body, running your hands up her thighs, ass and back, massaging the supple flesh as your tongue ran circles against her.
Her movements quickly became shorter and more forceful, and you felt her thighs begin to spasm around you. You looked up when you heard her speak through the delicious moans and whimpers filling the air.
“___, I-ah
I’m—!"
Her head and body rolled back as a wave of pleasure went through her, the sight sending another surge of heat to your own sex. Running your hands up her stomach and waist, your mouth found her clit again, giving it a few small circles with the tip of your tongue before fully wrapping your lips around it. Shinobu gave a lurch forward, one hand holding the bedframe for dear life and the other flying to her mouth to try to stifle the onset of moans she knew were coming.
Your hands found her breasts and gave the plush mounds a gentle squeeze, rolling the nipples between your fingers and pulling them, mimicking the rhythm your mouth had on her clit. Shinobu’s moans rang across the empty room despite the hand over her mouth, her hips rolling against you in a frenzy. With one last suck on her clit and a light shake of your head, her body went rigid and curled forward as her climax finally washed over her. You felt her thighs squeeze your face and caressed her hips, slowing your mouth to a stop as you allowed her to ride the last waves of her orgasm.
With a final shuddering breath, she straightened her back and pushed back the strands of hair clinging to her face. Releasing her death grip on the headboard, she moved off your face on wobbly thighs, watching you wipe the wetness off your mouth with a grin.
She huffed. “
Y-you look too p-pleased with yourself
”
You smiled.
“You don’t look pleased enough, Lady Kocho,” you gave her a look of fake concern, batting your lashes, “Should I try again?”
She gave you an icy look that drew a giggle out of you and moved to rest her head lightly against your shoulder as she steadied her breath.
You closed your eyes and reveled in the peaceful stillness, feeling her fingers stroke the soft, bare skin over your stomach and returning the gesture on her inner thigh. The late-night breeze rustling through the garden, the distant sound of a wind chime and Shinobu’s gentle breathing next to you were calming enough to almost lull you to sleep. If only your line of work allowed for more nights like this
 But of course, it didn’t.
A moment later you felt Shinobu stir beside you. “How’s your leg?”
You shifted to look at your calf, the white bandage around it being the only thing covering any part of your body.
The latest wound you’d received during one of your demon-slaying assignments was healing remarkably quickly, now hurting little more than your pride. Not only had it been embarrassing enough to be hurt by slipping and slicing your leg open on a rock rather than by the demon you’d been after, your beloved Hashira had come to your party’s rescue with an army of kakushi and made such a fuss over you that you weren’t sure you’d ever live it down. Thankfully, she had taken it upon herself to personally nurse you back to health – and she had certainly gone above and beyond.
“Fine,” you bent your knee and stretched your leg as if to prove it, “Can’t feel the sting anymore.”
“Hmm
”
She seemed to consider your answer as her index finger drew circles across your skin absentmindedly. She spoke a moment later, turning her head up to look at you.
“Are you tired?”
You blinked. Tired? An odd question, considering she had been the one catching her breath from riding your face two minutes ago. You shook your head and she gave you one of her fear-inducing smiles – the ones that sent servants running for cover and made you squirm in anticipation.
“Good
I want to try something.”
Without further explanation, she slid off the bed and scurried silently to the lab on the other side of the bedroom door. A moment later, she emerged holding something wrapped in cloth and a small glass bottle filled with a clear lilac liquid. The light of the only lamp in the room made the glass shine in a small rainbow and the liquid inside seemed to glow.
Shinobu set the cloth on the bedside table and laid back next to you, holding the bottle and swirling its contents around. The movement transfixed you.
“What is that?”
She smiled, though your eyes were still glued to the mysterious liquid.
“Something I’ve been working on
”
She lifted the stopper and its scent suddenly drifted towards you. It was sweet and floral, with a slight bitterness that made it quite pleasant.
Shinobu spilled a drop of it on her index finger and brought it up to your cupid’s bow, spreading it through the center of your lips. The little that fell into your mouth was bittersweet, and you could swear you were becoming addicted to the scent. A few seconds after the liquid touched your lips, you began to feel them heat up and prickle, as if tiny needles were slightly poking your skin.
Shinobu smiled at your sudden wide eyes and surprised expression before giving your lips a soft kiss.
“Do you like it?” she purred and nuzzled your nose with her own. You nodded, pulling her in for a longer, deeper kiss, the feeling heightened thanks to the concoction on your lips. She smiled again before slipping her tongue into your gasping mouth, making you moan.
Shinobu pressed herself against your side, her breasts against your own and legs intertwined, slightly pushing yours open. Her hand slithered down your thighs, fingers soon sliding over your slick opening and drawing a moan. The sound was cut seconds later as you pulled your mouth away from hers in surprise.
“Shinobu-”
 “Shh
” she cooed at your sight panic.
Somewhere along your little make-out session she had covered her fingers with the strange liquid and spread it all over your sex; you had been so wet from having Shinobu sit on your face earlier that you didn’t notice until you felt your clit prickling in the same way your lips were. You hissed as Shinobu’s fingers swept over it again, circling it gently as she kissed down your neck.
“Does that feel good~?”
“Y-yes!”
Two of her fingers slid inside you, covering your walls with the same prickling and heating sensation, making you squirm in pleasure. Her fingers worked in and out of you in a steady pace as her other hand explored your body, caressing and groping along the way.
“
You’re so pretty like this, ___...” her hand squeezed one of your breasts softly, bending down to take your nipple into her mouth and suck on it gently. You gave her a content little moan which made her smile around you, almost feline-like.
Pleased with your reaction, she moved on to the other breast, fingers still moving tirelessly and drawing what she considered to be the most beautiful sounds out of you. Your sighs and moans filled the room, joined by Shinobu’s occasional giggles and hums of appreciation. But above all, you could hear the sound of your lover’s fingers moving in and out of your drenched, dripping pussy – it was obscene and a bit embarrassing, but damn if it didn’t turn you on even more.
Leaning back to examine her work, Shinobu’s thumb pressed against your clit and gave a gentle little flick upwards. The movement cut your breathing short with a gasp as your back arched slightly off the bed, pleasure exploding across your nerves. When her thumb moved again, you released a loud moan, rolling your hips in time with the circles she rubbed on you.
As your pleasure grew, you felt her picking up the pace, which you matched easily in your desperation to find release. Whatever she had used on you made you extremely sensitive to every touch and movement, down to the slightest flick of her wrist. You felt yourself rising higher and higher, closer to your limit as your breaths became shorter and your sounds more desperate.
You knew you were only seconds away when Shinobu removed her hand from you. Your eyes, squeezed shut in anticipation moments before, flew open to look at her and received a serene smile in return.
“W-wha-”
Shinobu moved between your legs, spreading them slightly further apart to make room for herself.
“Patience, dear~,” she cooed with a smirk.
You should have known

You gave an exasperated sigh, breathing steadying a bit. As frustrated as you were, your lungs were pleased to get a full breath in again.
Shinobu’s hand ran up your slit again before bringing it up to her face. You could see your slick covering it as she stuck one of her fingers into her mouth and sucked it clean with a little moan of approval. The sight was enough to make you clench.
She leaned forward and pressed a second finger to your lips, slipping it into your mouth without any resistance. You sucked on her finger while holding her stare, and you could see something flicker in her eyes at the sight.
Taking hold of your legs, Shinobu bent her head to lay kisses and nibbles over the inside of your thighs, inching closer to your core painfully slowly. Trying to ground yourself, your hands ran over her silky hair, caressing and pushing the (for once) unbound locks away from her face. She smiled and gave your hand a quick kiss as it passed her face before returning her mouth to your thigh. The small act of intimacy made you smile.
Whether it was due to your sweet gesture or her not being very patient like she had said, Shinobu only gave your thighs a few extra kisses before lowering her mouth to your sex, sticking her tongue out to give a tentative lick. Your hips jumped at the contact, to her amusement.
Lowering herself fully on the bed, her mouth worked over your slit, tongue pressing a long, firm lick up towards your clit, which she flicked with the tip. The small, brief contact was enough to make your moans start up again, your pussy already worked up and oversensitive.
Shinobu’s mouth felt like magic as she ran her tongue over your folds and into your opening, sucking and kissing in a way that had you seeing stars. Her hands moved over your legs, kneading the soft flesh and bringing them up over her shoulders. She then let her hands roam your body in the same way yours had done; up your sides, over your stomach, taking hold of your breasts and giving them a nice squeeze.
You could feel yourself lose control of your body as the pleasure began to mount once again. As much as you tried to keep your thighs from crushing Shinobu’s head, it was getting harder and harder to stop them clenching shut. Your hands, desperate for something to hold on to, moved from gripping the bedframe behind you to balling into the sheets, tangling in Shinobu’s hair, both pulling on it slightly and pressing her face closer to you, moved up to knead your breasts and then tangling into your own hair. Your hips were buckling hard enough to make Shinobu place a firm hand on your lower stomach to keep you in place as her mouth sped up, making you spasm.
You had tried to keep your noises in check at some point, but it had proven useless and you were seconds away from howling like a woman possessed. Your throat couldn’t keep up with all the stimulation your pussy was receiving, and most moans were cut in awful gasps and grunts that sounded terrible to your ears, but which Shinobu seemed to appreciate. Your breathing was starting to hitch again, and you knew if you didn’t get release soon you were going to go insane.
Gathering every ounce of concentration you could muster, your hands pulled Shinobu’s hair away from her face again as you spoke in a shaky voice.
“Sh-shinobu, I’m—nng!
p-please darl-”
A moan cut your pleading short, but she understood. With a last lick to your folds, her tongue attacked your clit as her eyes locked with yours. Once she was sure she had your attention, her lips wrapped around the nub and she hummed, sending vibrations to the depths of your being. With a suck and light shake of her head, your orgasm exploded, making the world around you disappear. You felt your legs tense up and heard an ungodly sound come out of your mouth as your head fell backwards into the plush pillow, mind dizzy with pleasure and lack of oxygen.
As your breathing steadied and your body relaxed, you felt Shinobu’s mouth move away from you slowly. The puff of air on your sensitive clit as she caught her breath was too much for you to handle, and your legs reluctantly moved to give her room to sit up. She licked her lips and wiped at the wetness on her cheeks and chin delicately, always the lady even in these situations.
She watched your disheveled figure as you recovered, panting and moaning still, limbs sticking out limply, hair a mess. She settled beside you again, fingers gently brushing stray hairs away from your face and laying a kiss on your temple.
“Are you alright?”
“I-” a whimper cut through you as you tried to talk.
While the rest of your body had slowly come down from the explosion of your orgasm, you felt your pussy still clenching and spasming in what you originally thought were aftershocks, but which refused to die down several seconds later.
“Shinobu, what-” a little moan interrupted you again, “w-what did you give me
”
She hummed as she watched you squirm beneath her.
“It’s a solution I’ve been working on that targets nerve receptors, making them extremely sensitive. I’m hoping to develop it into a new kind of poison against demons
But it’s harmless to humans,” she added with a smile, seeing your eyes widen at the mention of poison. “Our physiologies are different, after all
”
“And how-” you squirmed again “ho-w long does it l-ast?”
“Not too long
a few hours, maybe.”
You felt your eyes trying to pop out of your head. “Hours?!”
“Mmhmm
” she leaned to place kisses all over your face. “That’s why I asked if you were tired
”
“Kocho!” what you intended to sound like a reprimand came out in a moan as you felt your sex spasm and heat up once again. You clenched your thighs together trying to get some friction, your eyes squeezing at the feeling. It was a fraction of a second before you felt Shinobu’s thigh slip between your own. Her lips ghosted over your ear.
“Do you want my help, ___?” she whispered before biting your earlobe playfully.
You felt every nerve in your body light up in pleasure and slight annoyance at your lover, and considered denying her for a second, but the feeling between your legs was quick to kill your pride as you could start to feel your juices dripping out of you.
“
yes.”
“What’s that?”
You grunted. “Please help me, Shinobu
”
She moved above you to grab whatever she had laid on the bedside table, making your legs spread wider than before. The sight of you, completely exposed and needy for her, made her reconsider and settle back to take in the sight better.
You looked at her questioningly through lidded eyes as she ran her hands up your body again, setting off goosebumps. Taking hold of your spread legs, she pushed them slightly further apart, settling one of her own above yours and bringing you closer to her. The movement was enough to make you rise slightly off the bed.
“Shino-”
“Shh
it’ll be fine
”
Somewhat eased by her serene smile, you watched intently as she brought her pussy down to your own. The contact set off sparks in both of you, and your moans rang out almost in unison. Your arms failed you and you collapsed back on the bed as Shinobu moved her hips gently, trying to position herself better. Your poor clit, swollen and still sensitive, throbbed and made your hips jump into Shinobu with more force than you intended, making her hiss. As an apology, your hands reached out to smooth over any stretch of skin they landed on, caressing her waist and the curve of her thigh as she began to rock her hips against you.
There was little you could do besides trying to make sure your hips didn’t hurt Shinobu and letting out every moan and whimper your body wanted to make. The feeling was just too much. You could feel yourself clenching at emptiness every time Shinobu’s clit rubbed against yours. She moved at a steady pace, holding your thigh against her to use as an anchor. Every thrust against you made her breasts bounce and her eyes flutter shut, moans of pleasure mixing with your name.
Your excessive wetness, mixing with Shinobu’s own made an even more lewd sound than before, and you could soon feel it dripping down your legs and onto the bed. The sounds you were both making and the sight of her so lost in pleasure made your already weak hold on your nerves give out. A second orgasm took over you faster than it ever had, your hips picking up speed before coming to a shaky stop as a moan raked through you. Shinobu’s hips moved feverishly against you a few more times before her own climax made her tense up and release a moan that echoed across the empty room.
Body on fire, you watched in a haze as Shinobu slowly moved away from you and caught her breath. While her breathing seemed to be going back to normal quickly, you struggled to stop gasping for air as your pussy clenched again. Even in your state, curiosity got the better of you, and you focused all your energy into forming what you hoped would be a coherent sentence.
“Sh-shino-” a gasp that was starting to resemble a normal breath interrupted you. “D-does that t-thing work on you-u?”
It took a second for her to grasp what you meant, but understanding quickly took over.
“No, it doesn’t spread once it’s dry. I have to work on that
”
Your brain could only wonder what the hell she meant by dry when you were wetter than you’ve ever been in your life, but you nodded all the same as she hovered above you. Her hands moved ever so gently over your sides, careful not to be too rough on your heated skin. She placed soft kisses over your face, only kissing you fully when she felt your breathing even out. You returned the kiss while running your hands slowly across her back, finding comfort in the feeling of her small frame above yours.
You kissed for what felt like hours, but the poison made you lose all sense of time, so who could say. Your breathing had somewhat evened out when Shinobu pulled away. With some relief (and maybe a bit of pride) you noticed that she looked as disheveled and fucked-out as you felt. She placed a hand over your chest, where it rose and fell as you focused on breathing.
“How do you feel?”
Just as a “Fine” was about to cross your lips, you felt another jolt of heat run through your sex and whined in desperation. How could your pussy be ready to go again after two explosive orgasms when the rest of your body had barely been able to recover in between? You could barely feel your legs and your head felt light, all your nerves were on fire and your lungs – God, your lungs. Even with your extensive demon-slaying breathing training, Shinobu had managed to turn you into a limp, exhausted heap that could only stop panting long enough to form a semi coherent sentence.
“
Still horny,” you looked at Shinobu with what you meant to be an angry glance, but which you knew probably looked pathetic. “How am I still horny?”
Shinobu hummed and removed her hand from your chest after a while. “Don’t worry, __,” she placed a soft kiss on your lips. “We can fix that
”
“Shino-”
Your protest was cut short as she pulled away and a cold gust of air ran over your suddenly exposed sex, making a shudder run through your body. You panted as Shinobu sat back between your legs, gently running her hands over your thighs as she seemed to examine you.
“Do you want to try something else?”
As much as the rest of you wanted to decline, the heat on your lower lips had slowly been increasing again, in no small part thanks to Shinobu’s hands slowly inching closer to them. As her fingers began to massage your inner thighs more firmly you felt your pussy start to clench and drip again, as if it was begging her to try something, anything else, to relieve it. Against your better judgement you felt yourself nod.
Shinobu’s hand moved forward and gently spread your lips further with her thumbs, earning a sigh from you. She hummed and released you when she seemed satisfied with what she saw, and moved to retrieve whatever was on the bedside table. She held the object with both hands and paused, looking at you until your muddled head managed to focus on her. She spoke once she was sure she had your attention.
“I’ve been wanting to use this for a while, but
” her brows furrowed as she seemed to examine you again with what you could only think of as concern. She shook her head lightly as she carefully unwrapped the parcel. “Well
tell me if you don’t want to use it now
”
Your eyes widened as she revealed the contents of the cloth. In her small, delicate hands sat a dark, shiny wooden dildo. While not extremely realistic, the wood had been carved into a slight upward curve and had a larger, rounded head that caught the light of the table lamp and gleamed. Your pussy seemed to jump at the sight of it. At the end of the lacquered phallus was a larger, flat base with wide cloth straps, and understanding dawned on you.
Your mind began to wander. Who would have thought that the refined Lady Kocho had such interests
Although you, of all people, shouldn’t be surprised by these things, you couldn’t help but wonder if you had had any influence on her. She had never mentioned wanting to try toys or anything else, yet she had already hit you with the world’s most powerful aphrodisiac-lube and now she wanted to fuck you for the third time with a strap on, all on the same night. Your eyes fixed on it again. It looked like very good craftsmanship, and therefore expensive – maybe even custom-made. How had Shinobu acquired it? She certainly had the means to get her hands on anything she wanted, but you couldn’t imagine her ordering a strap on dildo in person any more than you could imagine her sending a servant to do it

Shinobu seemed to take your reflective pause as hesitation and began to wrap the dildo in the cloth again.
“
if you don’t want to use-”
“Yes.”
Shinobu looked surprised by your quick response, but not nearly as surprised as you were yourself. Maybe this poison had some mind-altering side effects, because you were clearly not thinking straight – right now what your brain wanted didn’t matter as much as what your pussy wanted, and your pussy wanted Shinobu’s wooden dildo.
“I want you to use it,” you said in case she was waiting for clarification.
She seemed to examine you yet again, and you tried to look as composed as you could, even if you could feel your wetness drip towards the bed again. With a small “Alright” she began to place the straps around her hips, and you felt your breath catch in anticipation.
Once she was comfortable with the way it sat on her, she leaned towards you. Gently spreading you with one thumb, she grabbed the base of the dildo and ran the tip slowly up and down your folds, making you shiver. She did it again and again, entranced by how your wetness quickly covered the tip. A moan from you broke her concentration as the tip flicked over your clit and made you jump. Seeing that you were clearly wet enough she looked at you again.
“Are you ready?”
You nodded at her before focusing your gaze on the dark tip of the dildo. With one last brush over your folds, Shinobu lined the tip with your entrance and thrusted forward slowly. You sighed heavily as the cold lacquered wood easily dipped past your lips and began to stretch your walls, the dark length quickly disappearing inside you. The feeling of fullness consumed you, and your eyes rolled back as something in you seemed to relax.
Giving you a chance to get used to the feeling, Shinobu’s hands soothed your skin before settling on your waist to gently hold onto you. Her eyes locked with yours and once she received a nod from you she began to pull her hips back. With the first stroke, you let out the loudest moan you’d ever heard from your own mouth.
“Oh fuck, Shinobu!”
If you thought you’d been overstimulated before, you were clearly mistaken. Every nerve in your body seemed to have moved to your sex – you could barely feel anything else. The effort you had made all night to keep your volume in check went out the window as Shinobu drove the dildo in and out of you again and again. The friction as your walls clenched around the length was delicious, the round head hit you just right and made your eyes roll back, legs slack around Shinobu’s.
As your entire concentration was on the tension mounting from toy sliding in and out of you, you saw Shinobu pick up your legs and stretch them up, so that they rested against her frame. The angle made the dildo slide in deeper than before, and the first stroke in this new position made you cry out your lover’s name. With another small, feline smile Shinobu slightly picked up the pace, the sound of her hips slapping against you and your juices squelching around the toy filling the room.
Your moans and cries were probably loud enough to wake up all the servants and slayers staying at the Butterfly Mansion, but what could you do? You felt like you no longer had any control of your body; the poison Shinobu had given you had only made you capable of being aroused and doing anything necessary to find your release without giving a damn about any consequences. You only wished you were somewhere more secluded, somewhere where you didn’t have to suffer the servants’ eyes avoiding your gaze when the morning came. Somewhere where you could use that godforsaken poison on Shinobu and fuck her with the strap on, where you could draw out of her all the moans and lewd noises she was drawing out of you.
A thrust brought you back to reality, as your pussy clenched violently – a sign you knew too well. The feeling inside you and the sight of Shinobu’s body moving and her look of concentration when fucking you was enough to draw you over the edge quickly, the third and strongest orgasm of the night slamming into you with more force than you anticipated. With a final cry, you collapsed on the bed as your pussy clenched around the dildo, Shinobu having slowed down but not fully stopped yet. Your mind swam as she finally stopped and caught her breath, carefully laying your legs back on the bed, where they stayed as limp as before. Placing a steadying hand on your hip, she slowly pulled back, taking the dildo out of you. The sight of it covered in your arousal seemed to satisfy her. She undid the straps around her hips and gently laid it on the ground by the bed before leaning over to check on you.
“__...are you alright?”
You felt her fingers pushing strands of your hair away from your face as she inspected you as she would a patient. Your body, moments ago only focused on your climax, was now devoted to regulating your breathing, and in your daze you could barely pay attention to Shinobu, let alone answer her. At her concerned face, you managed a weak nod to let her know that if you weren’t completely alright now, you would be. Satisfied with your answer, she moved away from you and off the bed.
Over your own labored breathing and the crickets in the yard, you could faintly hear running water coming from Shinobu’s lab. Your mind focused on it and drowsiness began to slowly make its way into your addled brain. You held onto it with purpose, hoping to doze off before your body had time to get aroused again. You never thought you’d say it, but your body had had as many orgasms as it could handle for one night.
Unfortunately, it seemed you wouldn’t be so lucky; while the rest of your body had calmed down, you felt a familiar prickling begin again, and the frustration finally brought tears to your eyes.
“Please, not again
” you clenched your legs together, which somehow made it worse. Something between a moan and a sob slid past your lips as you writhed on the bed. “Not again, please, please-”
“It’s alright, __.”
You looked up to see Shinobu standing over you with another cloth in her hand. You gave her a pleading look as she moved to spread your legs.
“Shinobu, please-”
“Shh
”
She spread your legs with little resistance and ran a cold, wet towel gently over your sex, cleaning all the mess you’d made and instantly cooling your nerves. She then ran it across the inside of your thighs, cleaning any leftover stickiness. Whether it was the water or the cold, you felt the heating and prickling melt away almost instantly and released an enormous sigh of relief.
As sleep was about to finally take you, you felt Shinobu climb into bed beside you wrapped in a soft nightgown. You moved to make space for her and she settled next to you, careful not to be too rough on your overheated skin. You gave her a tired smile, which she returned.
“Did you like my experiment?”
“Mmhmm
”
You nodded weakly and she moved down to give you a soft peck on the lips.
“But don’t ever do that without warning me again
”
She laughed and toyed with some strands of your hair. “I won’t, I promise.”
“Hmm
” You hummed contently and closed your eyes again as she ran her fingers through your hair.
You still wanted to interrogate her on her sudden interest in phallic bedroom toys and how to acquire them, but your body was finally ready to give into rest, so you let it go for now. There would be time to confront her tomorrow, when she couldn’t use your sleepiness to avoid answering. And more importantly, there would be plenty of time to plan how to enact your revenge.

About the Ryuga women clothings' design
⚠I will write about specific story aspects and themes of the movie, so while I won't spoil important developments, please don't read if you want to go into the movie completely blind. ⚠⚠My english is not great, sorry.
It's something I ranted about on Discord but I guess I should brainrot here instead 😅 It's a collection of thoughts about the patterns and motifs used in the kimono wearing women of the Ryuga family. Of course, these are just my observations and I'm not pretending these was all the intent of the character designer, but these things are fun for me to think about. I'll add in italics some comments by character designer toco, from her self published book "Birth Memorandum" (with key spoilers omitted!)
Tumblr media
Sayo "Sayo's design is based on the pretty girl characters that sometimes appear in Mizuki sensei's comics. Her kimono is based on the kimono worn during reference photoshoots held with the help of Toei Studios' costume department. The designs of other female characters were chosen after deciding on Sayo's kimono. Her hairstyle as it appears in the main story was ultimately chosen for both its "girlish" and "daughter of a good family" feel."
Sayo has in appearance a very traditional, impeccable look that fits her image of the oldest daughter of the prestigious Ryuga family. Her obi (sash) has a chrysanthemum print. There are a numbers of flowers associated with Japan, and many people would rightfully associate it with cherry blossoms (which has its own symbolical relevance in Gegege no Nazo), but chrysanthemums have had a long historical and cultural relevance as well. It's present on the kamon (emblem) of the imperial family and you can find it on japanese passports or 50 yen coins for example. So on top of being a beautiful, ornate flower, it's also an imperial symbol in line with the values of the Ryuga.
Her kimono has a yagasuri/yabane pattern, representing the feathery part of an arrow. It's an auspicious pattern once worn by young brides based on the idea that once an arrow is shot, it never goes back. As such, it expresses determination and wish for success, notably in marriage. That pattern, on the other hand, I associate with youth and Taisho roman, Japan's own romantic era at the beginning of the 20th century. At the time, the yagasuri pattern was worn by female students along with hakama. In popular imagination, the quintessential Taisho girl wears a yagasuri pattern kimono, a marroon hakama and a big bow in her hair, most probably due to the influence of the manga "Haikara-san ga tooru", whose main character is perceived as a tomboyish moga (modern girl). And there is a bit of that in Sayo, showing that despite her role as the oldest daughter of the family, she holds in her heart romantic ideas of what it's like to be a young girl in love, longing for her freedom as a woman and being hopeful for the future. After all, while stuck in Naguramura, she dreams of Ginza dates and cream soda, very romantic depictions of the city that are actually very, very far from the Tokyo Mizuki is acquainted with. I wrote that the yagasuri pattern expresses determination, which is something Sayo certainly does not lack despite her well-behaved appearance. Her first appearance, her meeting with Mizuki, has a tone straight out of a shoujo manga like I mentioned before ; Mizuki appears chivalrous, the mood is romantic. In Sayo's eyes, this is a fateful encounter, the beginning of her own romance story. She gives Mizuki a smile as they say good bye, but as soon as he turns his back to her, her expression shifts to look more serious and determined : at this point, she has already made a specific, fictitious image of Mizuki in her mind, and it's certainly when Sayo started to plan her way out of Naguramura.
She wears others outfits during the course of the movie, I'd love to take a good look at them once it drops on Prime!
Otome
"I wanted Otome's kimono to look elegant rather than flashy. Butterfly designs are added to her obi and comb."
Indeed Otome's clothes are much more subtle than Sayo's youthful flashy kimono haha. Toco points out the butterflies which are the main point of her design but there are some others motifs on her obi:
Tumblr media
It's low contrast but you can see a Kikkou hanabishi pattern ; kikkou refers to the hexagonal grid, reminiscent of a tortoise shells. It's an auspicious symbol expressing longevity. Hanabishi is the four petals, diamond shaped flowers inside the hexagon, and it's commonly found on samurai kamon, evoking refinement, nobility and prosperity.
Next are 5 petals flowers that are surely cherry blossoms. As I wrote earlier cherry blossoms carry heavy significance in the movie but it's difficult to discuss it without spoiling the story. I'll just say for now that in general, cherry blossoms being so short lived, they express the transience of beauty, and life itself, but also renewal ; spring will always come after winter. Here it works in tandem with the butterfly, also an elegant symbol of beauty and rebirth. In Japan, butterflies are also associated with death ; they are either a link between the dead and the living, or carry the souls of those who passed away. It's also a common motif in kamon, maybe the most famous one being the emblem of the Taira clan. Again it's difficult to discuss her without spoiling key points of the story but I find it interesting how the Ryuga in general are covered in auspicious symbols but Otome specifically has these twos motifs stacked on top of the kikkou hanabishi, it looks subtle at first glance due to the low contrast but she wears the most ornate pattern out of every family members, and in the context of the story those specific motifs end up looking quite ominous...
Toshiko
"In early sketches, her hair was either in an updo or in a bun, but it was changed for its current design so that her silhouette would not overlap with other female characters. She looked progressively more unhealthy as I put more emphasis on her dark vibe. Her barrette and obi are decorated with a design of boars and bush clovers."
Tumblr media
Well...this says it all. Before I move in to my main point I just want to mention that what strikes me most with Toshiko is how her ring is displayed on her main visual. Her pose shows her introversion but also showcases her wedding ring ; in Birth Memorandum the other sketches all feature said ring too. Interestingly, Genji doesn't seem to wear his..... ?
Anyways! The most important point! The boar is difficult to see because the visual on the official website is very small but it is here. The design is reminiscent of the "Boar" Hanafuda card.
Bush clovers are also known as "fusui no koto", or the place where boars sleep ; as such the twos are commonly associated in art. But I'll be honest I don't know of any symbolism related to the boar and researching it I didn't find much except it being apparently an auspicious symbol of fertility... (which is certainly fitting)
However! The connection with Hanafuda goes further in my opinion. With Hanafuda cardz you can play a game called Koi Koi, in which you have to form certainz combinations of cards, called yaku, to earn points. Each cards are associated with a month of the year and corresponding seasonal plants. One of those yaku is called "Inoshikachou", or "Boar, Deer, Butterflies" :
Tumblr media
So we have established that the boar are linked with Toshiko, and butterflies are linked with Otome. We're only missing the deer...?
Tumblr media
Hinoe!!
Isn't it a nice way to link all of their design together?
(By the way, I do think more of the Ryuga have their design more or less inspired by Hanafuda : there are chrysanthemum cards I associate with Sayo, and I believe the "Ono no Michikaze" card is reminiscent of Tokimaro.... but this was supposed to be a post about the women's kimono haha.)
Anyways, I could write a lot more, but it's difficult without going into spoilers territory. The designs in Gegege no Nazo look pretty simple in appearance, but manage to say so much about the characters, I find them all very very impressive. Thank you if you've read this far, I hope it made sense a little.

Sewing resources #1 à«źê’° àŸ€àœČ >➝➝➝< àŸ€àœČ꒱ა
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈ SEWING PATTERNS
Etsy (Prices will vary)
Etsy has lots of secondhand sewing books and pdf patterns from independent sewists. (If you're a cosplayer there are lots of character specific patterns you can buy!!)
If you're looking for a good sewing book I really like "Cosplay Sewing & Design BOOK"
Tumblr media
Unfortunately I don't know the name of the author since I can't read kanji (â•„á†ș╄) honestly if you can't read Japanese you may need basic sewing knowledge for this book BUT there are lots of pictures AND IT COMES WITH PATTERNS!!!! It shows how to alter the patterns like turning a regular sleeve into a puff sleeve or turning straight pants into puffed ones but as far as I know it doesn't show how to alter the fit of the patterns.
2. Pomadour.com (Prices will vary but I've found the prices to be fairly moderate)
(They also have an Etsy store!!!) A great place to find craft books from Japan (including the one I showed above)
3. Freesewing.org (Free)
Admittedly I have never used this site but I definitely plan on it. from what I've been told you're able to plug your own measurements and get a custom fit PLUS IT'S ALLL FREE. This site has patterns for both menswear and womenswear.
4. Sewist.com (Very affordable)
MY RIDE OR DIE FRRR Fully customizable patterns for a very small price (typically $1-$3 but I believe there are a few free things on there plus they have sales) This site features womenswear, since the measurements are fully customizable you probably can plug in the measurements for a male body but the clothing may still give off a feminine shape (probably idk I'm not a professional don't listen to me lol)
5. Your local library (Free!!! mostly!! I'll explain(ᔕ—᎗—))
Many sewing books actually have sewing patterns in them, and if you're lucky your library might even have regular sewing patterns to borrow. (I haven't been that lucky but hey at least my library has videogames) So as long as you have a library card you'll have free access!! HOWEVER lots of sewing patterns like the ones I have shown here come in pdf. form and need to be printed. Most libraries charge for printing (this is what I meant by mostly free) but typically it's only like a couple cents per page. I believe students can use their college libraries' resources for free but I wouldn't know I'm a dropout lmao.

Nothing but heart
—
This is for @flashfictionfridayofficial : A Form of Distraction #FFF228
Tumblr media
and @fluffbruary : Duvet.
Fandom: Kamonohashi Ron no kindan suiri/Ron Kamonohashi’s Forbidden Deductions
Tumblr media
(Beware of possible spoilers)
Oh, how things had changed.
Ron’s momentary attention was focused on the ceiling’s pattern. Working out the intricate mud-coloured woodwork that turned pitch black in the middle of each square that had been the choice of his grandparents when they used to live here suddenly fascinated him in spite of knowing this place since his childhood. Bless their hearts for that. The lone ceiling fan was installed a year before his mother decided to embark on traveling the world. Living in England for most of his life, she saw to it that he never broke contact with them, insisting that he returned to Japan every summer vacation.
There was a faint rustling movement on his right, he glanced at the brown hair that belonged to a young man next to him, the police detective Totomaru Isshiki covered in his blue duvet. He didn’t forget that he was there. Not at all. He was aware that Toto stayed.
Tumblr media
Ron turned around and gathered the sleeping man in his arms. Who would have thought that after five years practically living like a hermit another person, a warm body was next to him, willing to be with him? Toto moaned, but his eyes were still closed. Exhaustion took him over after the revelation and danger of the Auberge case. The police officer suffered minor burns, a scratch on his left cheek marred his almost perfect face. And him? Ron thought he would die, and the case was his last deduction. Toto, the ever loyal, came back for him. Lying on the floor of a burning luxury hotel, the brown-haired man told him to get his shit together. But there was no way out, the fire engulfed the whole building. That was the moment they decided to die together. Toto stayed and the rescue team arrived like in a dream.
Apologies, Toto, you don’t know how happy you’ve made me.
What Ron didn’t realise was that in those days of voluntary isolation, he was utterly convinced that he would live and die alone. As a result, his own mother gave him an ultimatum, reckless and selfish, she’d only visit him if one of them was on the verge of sickness or death.
He glanced at Toto’s sleeping face, surprised that the man, only three years older than him and a stranger from a year ago, had become his no. 1 supporter, his wall to lean on.
Toto hugged him back, placed his head on Ron’s neck.
This is a great distraction for tomorrow there is no turning back.
He needed strength to fight the opponent, who finally had shown his fangs ready to strike. Now that Toto was included on the equation, he must think and act double time.
Ron closed his eyes and joined his partner, peaceful for now.

The day tumblr stans will stop being chronically online is the day I will finally like this fandom. Goofy aah people think their opinions matter?
Last year everyone adored Ayato on this platform but after a certain ahem cult ahem of people joined, I can sense they’re secretly having beef with Ayato and are sending mean anons to Ayato fans for some jealousy reason.
Granted he is not my personal best boy but he’s DiaLovers’ best boy for a fact and the hype he started getting is pretty much deserved. In a series of games that’s a bit dead, I’m glad he’s able to keep it relevant not only for the DiaLovers fans. Don’t mind delulus saying bad things about him, those only exist on this platform anyway and are just seeking for attention and approval from random strangers.
// Tbh, I’m disappointed but not surprised. Unfair and two-faced people are everywhere and if they truly spend their time in that manner, you can already see how miserable their lives must be.
I believe that the Ayato hate train began with Youngblood and picked up steam this year after the release of the Meow Meow vampire art. Many people made fun of Ayato's appearance and blamed him for FaVoRiTiSm , despite the fact that everyone in Japan adored him there. I don't know why, but the DL Tumblr fandom is completely out of touch with everything DL-related. They have no idea that Rejet simply creates Ayato content as a marketing ploy; in fact, Japanese fans are literally the ones who request it. In 2020, Ayato was stated as fans’ top choice and got invited as a co-star with a national idol at Nino-san, which was broadcasted on the second largest television corporation in Japan. If people hadn’t recommended him so much, he wouldn’t have ended up there
it’s not that hard to understand.
This has the same vibe as those kpop fans who always complain about how their ult group is underrated but don’t even stream their songs, instead they spend their time criticizing bigger groups for what??
I’m not forcing anyone to love Ayato but at least give me good reasons to dislike him. I understand not liking ALL Diaboys but isn’t it hilarious how some people would give you a litany of reasons why they can't stand Ayato, but when you look at their bias, he did the same (or worse) things as (than) Ayato? If you truly dislike those actions, at least pick a side, lol. I honestly don’t hate any Diaboy (though I don’t agree with their behavior all the time) but even if I did, I wouldn’t throw shade at that one character out of the blue only to piss of his stans.
And I swear, it's incredibly annoying how some people would tear Ayato down when asked about their favorite character/ship/route, etc., even though he has absolutely NOTHING to do with the question or he isn’t even the main topic of the question. Saying things like, "Yeah, I like this character because, unlike Ayato (just an example hehe)—" or "No hate towards Ayato but — *proceeds to mischaracterize and hate on him*" are examples of uncalled hate speech. Literally why use HIM most of the time as an example when talking about negative things?? At this point that’s not even a coincidence anymore, but a pattern, which is truly giving fan behavior.
Such people are really the worst. Reminds me of how some fans still think it’s okay commenting stuff like “This is great but I don’t like *inserts thing the OP obviously likes*” or “Not trying to be mean but *starts being mean*”. Respectfully, who even asked for your opinion? Mind your own business and learn basic etiquette.

KUMA: Never Ending Bond, Chapter 1, Part 4 (Translation)
Preface & Prologue Chapter 1, Part 1 & 2 Chapter 1, Part 3
An episode with HIDE and KUMA, always together
The red mohair sweater HIDE-san was wearing, among other times, at the live at Tokyo Dome, had actually been my own sweater than I had been wearing
When HIDE-san saw me in it, he said, “That’s great, KUMA, lend it to me,” and spontaneously wore it when he went out for the event’s encore.
After that, the fan club made special HIDE-san mohairs, because all the fans wanted them. I still have the various mohairs that I used to wear in partner-look with HIDE-san long ago. The red-and-black striped one that he liked to wear a lot, the same one in black-and-violet, and so on.
And while we’re on the topic of clothes, there was the sari that he wore for encores and advertisements. It tore easily, so I stitched it often. When he wore it for a concert, I always had to have safety pins ready for when it tore. I was always careful with it.
Come to think of it, HIDE-san was wearing the sari for the artist-photos when they debuted, so of course it left a deep impression.
Because there hadn’t been a visual artist that original before him, they said.
Also, we painted his guitars together.
Like the guitar with the psychedelic colors and the paisley pattern that ShishĂŽ used as his main guitar. We painted that backstage, and I still think it is so cool.
Shishî asked me, “Do you have anything round?” and I passed him the cap of a spray can. I drew as well, imitating the things Shishî had started with.
Aside from that
most of my memories of Shishî are about music.
Thanks to him, I got to hear a lot of different music when we were together.
Shishî had liked Nirvana since their indies debut in ’89, and there was a period when he was constantly holding Nirvana CDs or photos.
When they came to Japan for the first time in ’92, he invited me: “KUMA, let’s go see them live,” and we went to Nakano Sun Plaza together.
I remember that concert very often. The concert itself lasted only an hour – and there wasn’t really anything like a set on stage.
But instead of being lacking for it, it was overflowing with energy and we were extremely satisfied with it. In regard to this, Shishî observed, “Turns out, something doesn’t need to be long in order to be good.”
There were a lot of bands like Nirvana that Shishî was interested in before their popular break out, and another one that he liked to listen to a lot was Jane’s Addiction.
When I think about it, ShishĂŽ was a hard-working person who learned a lot about anything he was interested in. Oh well, I think he really loved music.
Speaking of learning, HIDE-san often told me, “KUMA, you should read more books.”
But that story is tied to the episode of HIDE-san teaching me how to write song lyrics

What he often said about it was:
“I start by writing what I want to say down like a journal entry. Then I adapt these words to the melody, but when there are words I want to convey, I replace them with better words and phrases. If I were to put down the original version, it would just be a diary entry. That’s why I write it over and over, as if looking for the right puzzle piece.”
“It is important to distinguish between images that can be interpreted in any way, and those that conjure up realistic scenarios. There is no right or wrong way to interpret a song, so what I value is description. It is important to have at least one realistic scene that invokes the same feeling in everyone and allows them to instantly get a sense of the scenery, the world.”  That’s what he told me many times.
Regarding HIDE-san, he was someone who read a lot of books. He simply loved writing
That’s why he put such an emphasis on words
He read a lot of books by authors like Mishima Norio. While he was writing the lyrics for “Miscast”, HIDE-san asked me, “Do you understand what this means?” When we were talking about the lyrics, he said, “You should read more books. Start with these authors,” and recommended me Mishima Norio and Hoshi Shinichi.
I still remember how HIDE-san wrote the names of those two into my notebook right there.
Aside from that, Shishî didn’t just read novels but also looked at fashion magazines a lot.
While aboard, he also ran around in search of various issues and made the concept for his own clothes. I said it before, but he was not someone to slack off in his efforts.

What is Animism?
Tumblr media
Animism, derived from the Latin word "anima" meaning soul or breath, is a belief system that attributes spiritual essence to all things, both animate and inanimate. It is one of the oldest forms of religious beliefs and is often considered the foundation of human spirituality. This blog post explores the concept of animism, its historical context, core beliefs, and its relevance in contemporary society.
Historical Context
Animism is believed to have originated in the Paleolithic era, long before organized religions took shape. Early humans, deeply connected to their environment, perceived a living spirit in everything around them. Rocks, trees, rivers, animals, and even weather patterns were seen as imbued with spirits. This perspective fostered a profound respect for nature and a recognition of the interconnectedness of all life forms.
As human societies evolved, animistic beliefs laid the groundwork for many indigenous and tribal religions. Shamanism, totemism, and various forms of nature worship can be traced back to animistic principles. These practices were not merely spiritual but also integral to the social and cultural fabric of early communities.
Core Beliefs of Animism
At its heart, animism is about recognizing and respecting the spiritual essence in all things. Here are some of the core beliefs that define animistic traditions:
Spiritual Interconnectedness
Animists believe that everything in the universe is interconnected through a web of spiritual relationships. This includes humans, animals, plants, rocks, rivers, and even celestial bodies. The spirit or soul is not exclusive to living creatures but is inherent in all elements of nature. This interconnectedness fosters a sense of kinship and mutual respect among all entities.
2. Spirit Communication
In animistic traditions, communication with spirits is a common practice. Shamans, spiritual leaders, or medicine men and women often act as intermediaries between the human world and the spirit world. Through rituals, trances, and other practices, they seek guidance, healing, and wisdom from the spirits.
3. Respect for Nature
Animism promotes a deep respect for nature and its cycles. Natural features such as mountains, rivers, forests, and animals are revered and often considered sacred. This respect translates into sustainable practices and a harmonious relationship with the environment, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural resources.
4. Ancestral Worship
Ancestral worship is a significant aspect of animistic belief systems. Ancestors are believed to continue their existence in the spirit world, influencing and guiding the living. Rituals and offerings are made to honor and seek blessings from ancestors, maintaining a strong bond between past and present generations.
Animism in Different Cultures
Animism is not confined to a single culture or region; it is a universal belief system found across various societies. Here are a few examples of animistic traditions from different parts of the world:
Indigenous Tribes in North America
Many Native American tribes, such as the Lakota, Cherokee, and Navajo, hold animistic beliefs. They view the earth as a living entity and emphasize harmony with nature. The concept of "Wakan Tanka" or the Great Spirit in Lakota spirituality exemplifies the animistic belief in a life force pervading all things.
2. African Traditional Religions
In Africa, animism is prevalent among various ethnic groups. The Yoruba religion, for instance, recognizes numerous deities and spirits associated with natural elements. These spirits, known as Orishas, play a vital role in the daily lives of the Yoruba people, influencing everything from health to weather.
3. Shinto in Japan
Shinto, the indigenous religion of Japan, is deeply rooted in animistic beliefs. Kami, or spirits, inhabit natural features such as mountains, rivers, trees, and even human-made objects. Shinto practices involve rituals and offerings to honor these kami, fostering a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds.
4. Aboriginal Spirituality in Australia
Australian Aboriginal spirituality is inherently animistic. The concept of "Dreamtime" refers to the creation period when ancestral spirits shaped the land and its inhabitants. These spirits continue to exist in the natural world, and Aboriginal rituals and stories reflect their ongoing presence and influence.
Relevance of Animism in Contemporary Society
In today's world, animism may seem distant from mainstream religious practices, yet its principles remain relevant. The growing environmental movement, with its emphasis on sustainability and respect for nature, echoes animistic values. By recognizing the intrinsic value of all living and non-living things, animism offers a philosophical foundation for ecological conservation.
Furthermore, animism encourages mindfulness and a holistic approach to life. It reminds us to see beyond the material and acknowledge the spiritual dimensions of existence. This perspective can foster greater empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility toward the planet and its inhabitants.
Conclusion
Animism, with its profound respect for the spiritual essence of all things, offers timeless wisdom. It teaches us about the interconnectedness of life, the importance of respecting nature, and the value of maintaining spiritual relationships. While modern society may have moved away from animistic practices, the core beliefs continue to inspire and guide those seeking a deeper connection with the world around them.
By embracing the principles of animism, we can cultivate a more harmonious and sustainable way of living, honoring the spirit that resides in every aspect of our existence.

How involved are you in the Lolita community? As someone who dresses historical inspired (and thus, some of my clothing dips into lolita)—I find the community, especially the international community, utterly exhausting to be around.
I'm an artist, I work at an art gallery—and I find the community to be somehow even more pretentious of an environment. It's like the attitudes of millionaires into couture combined with the same obsession weebs have with Japan and anime.
I'm a plus sized person, so if I buy something lolita, it tends to be a non-patterned dupe/replica that I alter to better suit my tastes and I made the mistake or mentioning this and people online within the lolita community were furious—telling me that I don't "deserve to be in the community"... I have no desire to go to meet-ups with people THAT pretentious, especially about clothing.
I saw your posts about your opinions on replicas, so I wanted to know—what are your opinions about the lolita community?
Are we talking about the local lolita community that banned the four most openly disabled people in the group for saying that banning someone without giving a reason was shitty and then openly saying that it was because someone was mentally ill was even more shitty?
Or are we talking about the communities that I've joined and helped build and try to create an open space. The lolita community that I'm the most active on is my own discord server, which has like 250ish members and which follows rules that I made up and think make sense.
But prior to joining the local community that I was later banned from, I spent 10 years being lone lolita. This meant that I had to get used to ideas like, "I'm going to wear what I want to whatever events that I want. It doesn't matter if there's no one else to wear it with me. I'll post it on my own social media, and if people like it, then that feels great!"
And this gave me a really interesting power, which was that when someone tried to take the local community away from me, I was offended that it happened, but no one could take the fashion away from me, because my relationship with lolita fashion is not based in a community. I like being in a community, but the fashion is mine and no one can take that away from me.
I've had people ask me before how I made a successful lolita blog, and the secret that I tell people is to find a void in what people offer, and do what I can to fill that. I started this blog because I needed more lolita things in my life, and I didn't have resources to help me make them. I figured that if I needed this resource, other people probably did too. Sharing the resource was public, but the things I was making, I was making for me. But that's what it was, finding something that I wanted to do and was passionate about and that no one else was doing.
With regards to replicas, the main thing that I absolutely cannot stand about the mainstream lolita community is the idea that replica dresses are bad, but replica shoes are fine. I've bitched about it before when people say that print replicas are theft and design replicas aren't. The community has partially changed about that, but I still get people saying, "well, replica shoes are different!" and when you ask why, no one has an answer that doesn't sound like bullshit. At the end of the day, you have to look at your own morals and the consequences for your actions. There's a lot of places where posting coords with replicas (except fucking shoes for some weird ass reason) is prohibited. If you want to participate in that group, you have to respect their rules. I absolutely fully respect groups to be able to make absurd rules and then defend them like they're life-or-death, and as long as those rules aren't inherently excluding someone for something they don't control, that's fine. I'm in a facebook group where you get banned if you use the letter N (and don't remove it when called out by other group members). It's absolutely hilarious. If brands like Meta and Atelier Pierrot, as well as taobao brands on places like 42lolita, and the handmade lolita scene, didn't exist, banning replicas would actually be a rule that excluded people who were plus-size, but it's 2024 and there are options for extended size. There's not as many and they're not as good, but this isn't 2010 and we have options other than Qutieland resellers and having shopping services visit Laforet for you.
But if you're well-informed on the economics and global impact of replicas as well as that of mainstream lolita fashion, and you're okay with making the purchase when you have all the facts, and you're also okay with how wearing replicas is going to impact your lolita social life, go for it. You've already learned that there's places where people don't tolerate it. But at the end of the day we're all stupid people in stupid dresses, so wear what you like.
If you want a short answer: There's a lot of parts of the lolita community that I don't like, so I made my own. I think it's important to have my relationship with the fashion come from within me, and not from community involvement. It's nice to have lolita friends but It's just as valid to just wear what you want for the sake of wanting to wear it.
(I limit the number of people who can join the Discord at a time because I want to get a chance to meet people. I've recently had a lot of health problems and I'm just not mentally up to meeting a ton of new people and teaching them server culture. If anyone reading this finds this post and that link has been used up or expired, please message me and I'll get you a new one if I'm able).

How exactly did Hercules become connected to Vajrapani to being the protector of Buddha? And what’s his relationship of the Nio in Japan?
Katsumi Tanabe notes here that despite the widespread acceptance of the view Heracles influenced the early iconography of Vajrapani in Gandhara, there’s actually no consensus on how this phenomenon originally developed. Full explanation under the cut.
For context: Greek iconographic types were commonly adopted in Central Asia - typically for Iranian deities (who especially in the east were closer to deities in the strict sense than to the Zoroastrian notion of yazatas). However, the logic of these associations was not necessarily as simple as interpretatio graeca resulting in adoption of iconography. Nothing illustrates this point better than the fact Bactrians regarded Oxus as the king of the gods, but adopted the iconography of Marsyas for him, probably because it was a relatively widespread Greek image of a river god as opposed to some deeper analogy between their respective characters. There are also cases where iconography differs from what interpretatio would suggest - Tishtrya was seemingly associated with Apollo, but iconographically took after Artemis instead on Kushan coinage. Therefore, each case needs to be approached separately.
Tumblr media
A particularly remarkable example of Heracles-like Vajrapani (British Museum; reproduced here for educational purposes only)
I don’t think there’s any need to undermine the transmission of iconography itself: it’s not hard to find representations of Vajrapani from Gandhara which basically look like Heracles holding a vajra (and sometimes a sword or a fly whisk) instead of a mace. However, it's worth pointing out he's actually not depicted entirely consistently in Gandharan art. In addition to the numerous Heracles-like examples, there are also cases where he resembles Silenus or another satyr; Zeus (a fairly natural match given his typical thunderbolt attribute and Varjapani’s
well, varja); Hermes; Dionysus; Alexander the Great; or an ordinary Kushan in period-appropriate clothing. Interestingly despite Varjapani being considered a yaksha, no images of him actually resemble the conventional depictions of yakshas from further south, which at the time typically drew from Indian royal iconography. Interestingly it seems only two other Buddhist figures were patterned on Greek ones in Gandharan art, Panchika (for unknown reasons depicted in the form of Hermes) and Hariti (who borrowed Tyche’s cornucopia though this was not a consistent attribute).
Ladislav Stančo in his monograph Greek gods in the East: Hellenistic Iconographic Schemes in Central Asia present a rather bold theory: the adoption of Heracles-like iconography for Varjapani was less a case of syncretism and more the result of artists familiar with Hellenistic standards being hired by Buddhists and repurposing standard forms their were familiar with already. They would often be operating only on vague descriptions of Buddhist figures they heard from the commissioners. With time these would become a standard in their own right.
However, there are other theories too - I’ll simply summarize here what Karl Galinsky wrote in his article Herakles Vajrapani, the Companion of Buddha from the recent Herakles Inside and Outside the Church: From the first Apologists to the end of the Quattrocento.
Obviously, the fact both figures are characterized by their strength is a commonly cited factor. Another possibility is that Varjapani might have absorbed Heracles’ iconography after Kushan kings started promoting Buddhism because of a shared association with royalty. Yet another option is that Varjapani was a traveling companion of the Buddha which made him a good match for globetrotting Heracles. Finally, the fact they could both fulfill many distinct roles could be an argument in favor of identification in its own right (Galinsky seems to support this proposal himself).
In the past arguments have been made that Heracles’ iconography survived in Central Asia through Vajrapani as late as in the sixth and seventh centuries (source; note the article still follows the vintage theory Vajrapani was in part a Buddhist adoption of Zoroastrian fravashi, which I haven’t seen validated in anything recent), based on a mural showing a figure wearing a lion skin from the Kizil Caves. There is a recent article which tries to salvage this point, but the author admits this is all highly speculative. In any case, by the time Varjapani reached China his attire started to change, and he came to be shown either with a bare chest or in armor, but no longer nearly naked like Heracles. He also commonly has the exaggerated facial features you’d expect from yakshas and other similar beings, as seen for example on a mural from the Mogao Caves:

Vajrapani appears in later Buddhist tradition in an assortment of tales which typically portray him subduing demons or unruly deities on behalf of the Buddha. None of them really show much Greek influence, though -  I don’t really think Heracles is known for fighting Maheshvara, and in turn Vajrapani never got to free Prometheus or complete any of the twelve labors (though we know the myths themselves were known in Central Asia); iconography and mythology could be transmitted independently of each other.
Tumblr media
A Japanese depiction of Varhapani - note the third eye (Art Institute Chicago; reproduced here for educational purposes only) In Japan, Varjapani (Kongƍshu, é‡‘ć‰›æ‰‹; Shukongƍshin, ćŸ·é‡‘ć‰›ç„ž; Kongƍ-rikishi, 金扛抛棫  etc.) only appeared after a long process of transformations in Mahayana tradition, and his depictions generally reflect Chinese artistic conventions. The Niƍ, literally “benevolent kings”, are a double manifestation of him and similarly reflect a Chinese model. I don’t think there’s any real reason to claim there’s all that much Heracles in them. JAANUS notes that multiple identities could be assigned to them, though none particularly consistently. There’s a case to be made that the fact they are most commonly statues guarding temple gates is basically the core of their character judging from the proliferation of legends which revolve around this (for a Chinese example see here, Japanese ones are mentioned briefly in the linked JAANUS entries). They also only became widespread in the Kamakura period, centuries after even the boldest theories suggest the survival of some memory of Heracles in Buddhist sources. To put it differently: both Heracles and Nio are undeniably parts of Varjapani's history, but they are not necessarily a part of each other's history just because of that.

Miscellany and Such
I'm just a clown with things to say. You shouldn't believe me.
Intro post for this series
Okay, so that addresses the bulk of my need to splurge. I do want to get into some of the ancillary questions/mysteries though.
- The Timeline
Like most turtles, I have given thought to the question of "the timeline". This question is complicated because there are so many different stages a relationship can go through and they aren't always linear or one-way.
Like, when I think about when GG and DD "got together", do I mean sex? Being exclusive? Romantic commitment? An actual date? Promise of being together for the long-haul? These are all different questions and there's no real set pattern for them.
I guess I'll run through the common theories I've seen and just give an overview of my thoughts.
1. The Consensus Timelines
I feel like this is what I see pop up in fanfic a lot. Basically, DD and GG don't make a long-term commitment till after filming, sometimes way after filming. (Some fanfic opens years down the line with them only getting together in the fic) This often includes casual sex during the filming, but it doesn't have to.
I definitely feel that if DD had his druthers, he and GG would have been married one week into filming. GG's feelings are kinda the deciding factor in pacing for the relationship. Still, it is very difficult to believe that they were not physically intimate during filming.
DD was fucking bold and thirsty, and GG was clearly likewise smitten. I know what guys are like in their 20s. I know this sounds like I'm spouting stereotypes, but genuinely, all of my actual experience tells me that guys who are that outwardly flirty are not the type to faff around before diving into bed.
I doubt it was "just sex" given the romantic undertones of their flirtiness. At the same time, it might have been some feeling each other out and they may not even have decided to be exclusive at the beginning.
Even if they had decided to be exclusive, they were clearly insecure about how the other one felt about them. I think a lot about their (hilarious) English conversation about DD chatting with men and GG chatting with a girl. DD also spent a lot of time reading through GG's messages on his phone, so DD clearly felt some insecurity as to whether GG might be seeing other people.
(It's not really a great thing to anxiously read through your crush/partner/boo's phone messages like that. But DD was hella young, and I know the anxiety and insecurity of love at that age. I think the fact that they quickly built up enough trust to commit to what's essentially a long-distance relationship shows that they both matured past some of that early behavior)
(Also, I can see that if DD was GG's first male partner, DD might have felt especially insecure. Even if he wasn't GG's first, there's often times a special anxiety that non-bisexual gay folk feel when dating bisexual folk. The fear that their partner will leave them for the opposite gender is intense. Just speaking from my experience as a bisexual lady)
It's interesting to me that GG was open to letting DD read his messages. I doubt he'd do that if he were seeing anybody else, so that suggests they'd decided to be exclusive early on. That doesn't necessarily mean they're committed to the long-haul, but it's a serious step given how relationships between actors on set tend to go.
The consensus seems to be that the long-haul decision wasn't made until after GG's Japan trip. That makes sense to me, but I'm not completely attached to it. I don't think we know enough either which way to tell when the commitment happened. There is something romantic about the Japan trip story, and GG's later quote about waiting fits nicely.
I've heard various rumors that GG turned DD down the first time he confessed. This is interesting to me and especially ambiguous. I guess by "confess" we mean "confess to being in love". That confession can come with a desire to commit long-term. This makes me think of DD's Weibo post about things he decided at 21, he hopes to still feel at 81.
In my head, I have a little story that that's a response to GG having turned DD down due to the age gap (and maybe because of the possibility of character bleed muddying feelings). DD is especially sensitive about the age gap being mentioned, and we know he also had complicated feelings about LWJ.
My story continues with another attempt to make them a thing at the end of filming, prompting the Japan trip (and DD's "I miss you" hat). I also think about GG's interview response about having received a confession from someone he liked, and I wonder if he was thinking about DD. About liking DD but also not being sure they could really maintain a relationship outside the relative safety of the film set.
Basically, I have a million stories in my head about how this could have happened, and I'm not incredibly attached to any one of them.
2. DDU Variation
This Timeline isn't mutually exclusive with the consensus. The gist is that DD developed a crush on GG during GG's DDU visit about a year before filming. The rumors attached to this theory posit that DD got GG's WeChat info from DLS but then never did anything with it.
GG and DD have said in interviews that when they tried to connect on WeChat at the start of TU production, they'd found they'd already connected but had never talked to each other.
The evidence for this is heavily linked to a post DDU made in response to GG wishing them a happy birthday where they implied someone in their production was a fan of theirs. This post included a minions emoji, and DD was into minions at the time. Course, a lot of people were into minions, so this could be nothing.
If we take GG and DD at face-value, then there's 2 options:
1. DD had a crush on GG, got his WeChat info, then never did anything with it. 2. DD did not have a crush on GG but got his WeChat info some other way, then never did anything with it.
#1 is frankly hard for me to buy. It is absolutely inconceivable to me that DD would have a crush on someone, have that person's WeChat, and NOT DO ANYTHING WITH IT.
This is DD. He doesn't faff around. When he wants something, he goes for it.
#2 is plausible. I don't know the c-ent industry conventions, but I know in industries I've worked in, social media accounts are traded like business cards to network. Maybe that was commonplace at DDU with their guests, and they just added each other in one of those business card swap networking things.
But what if GG and DD are lying in interviews? They've lied before, after all. This leads to two alternate possibilities:
1a. They didn't have each other's WeChat until they started production on The Untamed. 2a. They did have each other's WeChat and they'd been chatting before The Untamed.
#1a is weird. I can't think of any reason to lie about that. But #2? Plausible. Maybe they did connect and start up a flirtation. Maybe even a relationship. Could be anywhere along the spectrum from early friendship -> light flirtation -> heavy flirtation -> online relationship -> secret in person relationship. Or maybe they just hooked up without a strong relationship attached to it.
It would add a different angle to the fact that they both tried out for The Untamed cast. They weren't necessarily going for the lead roles, as GG tried out for Xue Yang, but maybe they wanted to work on the same production together, and TU was their opportunity to do so.
This does mean they were pretending not to know each other at the script reading and the booting ceremony. This secretiveness implies that whatever relationship they might have had on WeChat already went beyond the bounds of friendship, or else why pretend not to know each other? It shouldn't be a hard thing to explain. "Oh, he guested on DDU last year, and we connected then." That's it. It's not even a suspicious explanation.
But it they'd hooked up or were even just being super flirtatious, then they wouldn't want to divulge that to those around them. (Counterpoint: They were pretty open about the relationship they did have eventually on set, even thing so far as to flirt, fight, argue, and have lewd conversations while getting their makeup touched up)
I can buy the DDU variation. The evidence is thin, and trying to "read" their behavior in the bts is always a little ambiguous and limited. But I'd say, if DD did get GG's WeChat because he had a crush, then it's highly likely they already had some relationship before filming. If DD just acquired GG's number in some routine industry business card swap, then this timeline variation is unlikely.
C. THE DEVIL'S TIMELINE
I love the name of this one. Basically, the speculation is that DD and GG might have been together even before the DDU episode. I think I've seen some Uniq fanmeet highlighted as a potential meeting point, given that GG was into K-pop at that time.
The evidence is even thinner for this than for the DDU variation. There's a picture DD drew of a person with a mole like GG's (I have no clue the context of his drawing that picture) and they have some Weibo posts that are kinda similar.
The Weibo post evidence is always confusing for me. I can see couples having some back and forth in their posts. Like, if your partner starts posting photos of ridiculous desserts, you might post similar photos. Or your crush develops an interest in foosball, so you do too. But some of the evidence is apparently photo sets that bear some resemblance to each other and I just...is this like a known thing for couples do to this? I've never come across this outside of this fandom. I don't know why you would. If my wife started subtly mirroring my photo posts, I don't think I'd even notice. (Hell, maybe she already does)
So I guess I don't find those incredibly convincing. After a point, if you look at any two people's posts long enough, you'll probably be able to find some similarities if you keep the criteria broad enough. If this is a known thing in Chinese social media for couples to do this, though, I might find that more compelling.
Other than that, the main evidence is kinda subjective in that its based on their behavior towards each other. This is real hard for me to gauge, so I'm not placing bets on it.
I don't think the Devil's Timeline is impossible. But I just don't see anything to indicate it as a thing. But who knows?
In sum, overall, I think DD and GG were physically (and romantically) intimate pretty early on in filming, earlier than many in the consensus seem to think. I'm undecided on when the big, serious commitment happened. And I'm open to the idea that they had a flirtation or an early online relationship via WeChat after that DDU episode. I'm not sold on the Devil's Timeline though.
Do I want to know? I mean, yeah? I find their whole romance interesting and compelling. It's like a romance novel, and I like romance novels. If they were non-famous and I met them at a party, I'd be totally into asking the "So how did you two meet?" question and learning that story.
But I'm just a rando in a different country who doesn't even speak their language. I don't get to know everything I want to know, much to my consternation. So I just have to shrug and move on with life (and read fanfic).
If in the unlikely event they come out with their story, though, I'd buy the shit out of that book.
- Fanfic/Shipping
I read a lot of fanfic (and have done for most of my life), but I felt some discomfort with the first bjyx fic I started reading. Not cause of the fic, itself, but because it felt weird to read fiction about real people. It's a side of fandom I'd never gotten into.
Fiction is a way to take stuff from the real world and make sense of it. This is something I've always appreciated about reading and books. Fanfic and bjyx fanfic fills the same need. I know I'll never get the full story on the truth behind bjyx but I can share ideas with others. I can engage in what-ifs and work through moments that are emotional.
I think sometimes people take a single fanfic to mean that the writer is making a Statement of how they think things are. With real people, they think the writer is seriously ascribing actions/thoughts/whatever to the celebrity.
Writers really aren't doing this, usually. Most writers have multiple fics with different situations, premises, character dynamics, universes. Writers are playing around with ideas, with dynamics they enjoy. Sometimes, they may feel they're hitting close to reality, but they know there's no way to be sure. Sometimes, they just want to write something with a silly premise to make their friends laugh.
Fanfic can be beautiful and compelling and amazing, but it's not real. It's words on a screen, and every fanfic reader moves on to the next fic with a completely different premise afterwards. It's not useful to read so much into any particular fic.
Can some fics and fans cross a line? Sure. But they're rare. And I honestly think people who write fic are less likely to be the crazy stalker fans just cause, well, they're spending their time writing, not stalking their celeb.
I do find the division of fandom into top/bottom weird and offensive. I don't have a preference on the mechanics of sex bc...whatever. But since fic writers tend to base their characterization on those mechanics, sometimes I'll be in the mood for one dynamic vs another. It's not about the sex though. There's just lots of aspects of Yizhan that I like, and I like to read a lot of different takes on them.
Again, it's fiction. Just like everything turtles believe.
- Fanservice
During my development as a turtle, I had a moment where I read a rumor that DD had played up the fanservice intentionally. It threw me back because I'd gotten pretty fond of DD and that sort of behavior was not in line with how I saw him.
I mean, I know actors are actors. They act. Part of that acting involves promos for their roles. But I've always appreciated DDs no-nonsense straightforwardness, so thinking of him playing a role in the bts was hard to stomach.
So I thought about it and did some reading around, as I do, and finally concluded that this whole "fanservice" thing wasn't very believable.
1) Fanservice doesn't look like the bts.
Honestly, there was a point while watching the bts when I felt DD was just kinda bullying GG and GG was putting up with him (I think this is a common takeaway). Even when I cottoned onto the fact that GG was just as flirtatious, I recognize that DD was just as obnoxious as shit.
He wasn't doing the actual romantic fanservice stuff that you see, say, Thai BL actors do. He was acting like a young boy with a crush. And I say this as someone who was a young girl DD's age once who had a similar (unreciprocated, in my case) crush on a coworker and who was as obnoxious as DD was. None of it resembled normal, stereotypical romance, because especially at that age, that's not how you do romance. No offense to DD. I know he hates to be recognized as young, but he was quite young and often acted like it in his clear affection for GG.
2) The experts say so.
By "the experts" I mean BL fans. I lurked around some BL spaces to see what that crowd's impression was. The overall consensus was that ggdd had great chemistry but never actually did fanservice.
True, being a Chinese show, maybe Chinese fanservice is just especially toned down. But that takes us to the next few points.
3) My understand of the release of the bts is that a lot of the bts is "unofficial" and was not planned to be released ahead of time. It was only with the popularity of the series that more came out.
Why fabricate a backstage, weirdly chaotic but low-physical affection relationship on a show that you're not even sure will get aired?
4) Fanservice ends.
Especially for a BL pairing, once the promo is over, the actors have to be separated from teh gay to make room for future het pairings. But there is every indication that GG and DD were still together after this point, and they're still dropping candies to this day.
So in sum, I know gg and dd are gay. The odds are much more likely that they are in a relationship than that they're doing long-term fanservice. They are gay. They fell in love. They're together. That's not so hard to buy.
Also, I went ahead and explained my turtledom to my wife. She easily bought that the two were together during filming. She wasn't sure about them still being together, so I explained about the necklaces. She asked me, "Could it just be fanservice even now?"
I started trying to explain my reasons I listed above and then I also mentioned they were signed with different agencies. As soon as she heard that, she said, "Ah, yeah, that wouldn't make any sense then."
Not saying that my wife knows everything, but she's really smart, y'all.
She is also a clown, though, like me. Absolutely raving mad.
One more post in this series! Some closing thoughts, and I'm also working on a little prezzie for turtles before I retreat to lurking.

“People normally cut reality into compartments, and so are unable to see the interdependence of all phenomena. To see one in all and all in one is to break through the great barrier which narrows one's perception of reality. We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh
"The basic laws of the universe are simple, but because our senses are limited, we can't grasp them. There is a pattern in creation." ~Albert Einstein
Every “thing” in the Universe is a system. These systems are connected to surrounding systems and made of smaller systems. All these systems are self-organizing and work together as unified wholes. Many of these systems are extremely creative, new structures and creations “emerging” from their interactions.
Our Universe is a creative system, as is Nature. Most systems exhibit certain shared characteristics, such as self-organization, wholeness, balance, connectedness, creativity, cycles (of change and stability) and what the Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh referred to as “inter-being.”
Inter-being refers to how all systems are connected and flow into one another in ecological relationships, sharing energy and elements. A tree for example is made up of water that existed as rain and clouds, sunlight, carbon that came from the air and other elements. Your body is the same, made up of trillions of atoms that are billions of years old and have been moving from place to place on our planet (and before that in the Universe) for a long long time.
Wholeness refers to how self-organizing systems form dynamic wholes, that regenerate their patterns across time and maintain harmonic functioning. Balance is really essential in a system, whether its your body, an ecosystem, a family, a community or solar systems.
Cycles of change are what allow for creativity and evolution, but also what maintain the wholeness and health of systems. The term “regeneration” refers to the processes that allow living systems to heal and sustain themselves across time. Your body, a forest, the ocean, a family, maintain stability by sustaining balance in relationships, regenerating connections and self-organizing wholeness.
Change is also a constant. Every system is constantly changing inwardly or outwardly, either in regenerative “virtuous” cycles of circulation that maintain order and stability, or degenerative “vicious” cycles which can create chaos, eventually leading to the collapse or death of that system. We seem to be living in an age now where many patterns are becoming unstable. Change (whether creative, regenerative or destructive) is imminent.
Sometimes the chaos of a vicious degenerative cycle can be transcended, and a new pattern of relationships is born. When people talk about spiritual growth, or psychological healing, this is often what happens. The “death” of the old pattern allows a new way of living and being to be born. Nature actually requires death in order to regenerate new life.
It’s one of the mysteries of our Universe, that even the total collapse of a system is never the end of it’s story. Most of the atoms in your body, for example, were created in the center of former stars which “died” in super nova explosions. If those stars had not seeded our region of the galaxy with these atoms, we would not be here.
Understanding how systems grow, change, evolve and transform like this is sometimes called “systems thinking” or “ecological consciousness.” I think it’s what many culture’s down through history have called “wisdom.” It’s an understanding all of us in this each deeply need.
~Christopher Chase

"You are something that the Whole Universe is doing, in the same way that a wave is something that the Whole Ocean is doing..." ~Alan Watts
“I think the difficulty is this fragmentation. All thought is broken up into bits. Like this nation, this country, this industry, this profession and so on
And they can’t meet. Wholeness is a kind of attitude or approach to the whole of life. If we can have a coherent approach to reality then reality will respond coherently to us.” ~David Bohm, physicist

Heeyyyy hope you don't mind, I found one of the pictures I was talking about when I made that post about fusion fashion!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was once a furisode that was turned into a tea gown! I wish there were more examples, but so far this is the only actual image of a real physical example. I just really love the idea of mixing patterns/fabrics and cuts to create new styles!
As I said before, I've found a lot of more modern examples, which aren't exactly what I'm looking for but they're the closest I have besides this! They're mostly Taisho-era-style, but some of them mix other stuff in and I think it's so pretty!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, I just LOVE the half-corset + blouse + kimono-style top overlaid! I realize Japan/east Asia already kinda "remixes" Western clothing in a way that makes it more to their own tastes, but I'm envisioning that kind of spin on more historical clothing. I haven't pinned the eras or specific countries down yet, but I'm getting there!
A lot of the "medieval" clothes are usually drawn and don't have physical examples either, so it's always a gem when I can kind of find something to bounce around in my head!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some of these aren't Japanese (I know a few of them are Chinese, not familiar with the others), but I tend to focus on that since that's what I know. Still, I really like the other styles as well, and I think they're great inspiration, so I added them too!
Ok I think I did enough now, lol. Sorry for going on and on! I just get really excited. Do you also have any inspo pics/stuff that you're planning for your WIP? I'd love to know!
WOWOWOWOW YES OMG OMG AHHHHHH I LOVE THESE SO MUCH OMG YESSSSSS😍😍😍😍😍 This is my favorite style, unironically, 100/10, would wear any of that and/or put any of these on a character amazing AHHHHH

Henry Harrison Getty commissioned this tomb for his late wife, Carrie Eliza Anderson Getty, in 1890. He engaged the firm of Adler and Sullivan for its design, admiring both Louis Sullivan's local buildings and his design for the tomb of Martin Ryerson, Getty's partner, of 1889. One source indicates that Getty was also on the board of the Adler & Sullivan-designed Auditorium Building. Both the Getty and Ryerson tombs, as well as Sullivan's grave, are located in Graceland Cemetery, Chicago.
The structure faces east on a small triangle of land bounded by cemetery roads. It is the only structure on a plot, located in the northwest part of the cemetery.
The Getty tomb is only of only three mausoleums designed by Sullivan between 1889 and 1892, the third being the Wainwright tomb in Bellefontaine Cemetery, St. Louis.
From the HABS report:
The construction is of blocks of grey Bedford limestone, with bronze gates and inner door. The rectangular block of the monument rests on a stylobate of four single stones, and the lower half of the wall is of smooth ashlar masonry. The upper half of the wall has an over-all incised pattern of octagonal panels enclosing eight-pointed stars, and above this is an enriched cornice with three scallops constituting the roof. On the front and two sides are large arches springing from the ashlar base to cover the door and the side lunettes.
A further description:
The quiet elegance of this tomb celebrates life amidst the cemetery's somber environment of death. An architectural writer once described it as being "as near perfection as mortals are allowed to approach." Its beauty is achieved through a combination of simple geometric shapes and rich delicately proportioned ornamentation.
Yale University Library, Digital Collections
Architect Frank Lloyd Wright remarked of the structure that it was "entirely Sullivan's own, a piece of sculpture, a statue, a great poem addressed to human sensibilities as such. Outside the realm of music, what finer requiem?"
Notes the HABS report:
The design for the Getty Tomb received much praise from abroad. In 1900, at a time when Sullivan's commissions were very few, a plaster cast of the tomb doorway was being shown at the Paris Exposition.
There is a poem by Marge Piercy, visiting a dead man on a summer day, about Sullivan and his Getty tomb.
Frank Stella's work entitled Getty Tomb is a comment on the immense darkness and sorrow of death.

I have yet to discover a photograph of Carrie Eliza Anderson Getty.
Alice Eliza Getty, about whom the most information is available, seems to have lived a rather fascinating life. She was a musician, composer, author, and art historian. She was the daughter of Henry H. Getty [1], a rich businessman who made his money in lumber. After the death of Alice's mother Carrie Eliza [2] in 1890, her father Henry retired from business and traveled widely in Europe and Asia with his daughter, along the way establishing an Asian art collection. He and Alice lived in Paris, Henry dying there in 1919. Alice continued to live in Paris until 1939, and spent her last five years in New York. Illustrations in her book The Gods of Northern Buddhism (published 1914 and 1928) came from the collection of her father. At some point, she lived in a Buddhist monastery in Japan. Alice is one of the pioneers of the Western study of South Asian art. [3]

The tomb's ornamental cast bronze gates and inner door were executed by the Yale and Towne Mfg. Company. The bronze door reportedly took an artisan and assistant a year to create and weighs 1,100 pounds. Plaster casts were made of the inner door, and exhibited in Paris at the Exposition Universelle of 1900 (winning Sullivan an award), and at the Art Institute of Chicago.

[3] ...Alice Getty, an only child, was born in Muskegon, Michigan, near the miles of pine-forests owned by her "lumberman" father. The family travelled extensively.... Her father...announced his intention of retiring when he was fifty in order to travel and to collect Far Eastern art....At that time [1890] Miss Getty's mother had died, and she became her father's companion in his collection-travels in Europe and Asia. The Gettys, with the ever-increasing collection, eventually settled in Paris. The largest and most important part of the collection consisted of images of deities of the Hindu Buddhist Pantheon, but Mr. Getty did not limit his field. His beautiful musical instruments were presented to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York by his daughter; she also gave his collection of Persian shawls and a fine stone Maitreya to the Art Institute in Chicago. Miss Getty's extensive acquaintance with the scholars who were later to become her friends and colleagues now began. Among her most intimate friends later on were the great Sanskritist, the late Mr. Sylvain Levi, the late Mr. Joseph Hackin of the Musee Guimet, and the late M. Paul Pelliot. European scholars recognised her abilities immediately. But until about 1907, her own great interest had always been music. She wanted to compose and for some years she studied harmony and composition with Vincent D'Indy. She wrote the music for various French poems and several of these songs had been successfully published, when her father's suggestion that she write a catalogue of his collection of Buddhist deities, changed her entire life. She put the songs aside, temporarily, as she thought, but research in Asiatic art claimed her thereafter, and she never returned to music again. She must have been naturally a scholar. The catalogue was undertaken in the most professional manner. She worked with deliberation and with meticulous care. At that time there was a dearth of material on Buddhist iconography; and during the six unhurried years when Miss Getty was working on the catalogue, she and her father made three journeys to India and the Far East. In I914, the Oxford Clarendon Press published "The Gods of Northern Buddhism", which at once took the place which it still holds as the authoritative book on the subject. During the first World War Miss Getty gave all her time to working for the blinded soldiers. She had a Braille printing-press installed in her apartment and superintended the printing of many books. For her admirable work she was afterward decorated by the French government.
