You know what would be angsty and very likely? Is if Anakin did confess his love, but Obi-Wan just thought he was being like Quinlan or Cody or whoever else tries to help him when they realize. Because he already "knows" Anakin loves him (just not the same way) and would destroy himself for those he cares about. So he doesn't believe him
You’re very right that it’s not going to be an easy road to solution, even after anakin has told obi-wan he loves him!! even after anakin has told him that he’s IN love with him and has been for forever, no learning how to desire him necessary (take THAT, Vos)
not only does anakin have to realize obi-wan has hanahaki, but he also has to realize it’s because obi-wan is in love with him which would take 5-6 business days to fully process normally but now must happen in double time because obi-wan is dying really really fast and anakin can’t let that happen!! and then anakin has to convince his master who is the stubbornest person in the whole entire galaxy that he’s wrong and anakin loves him back
oh and he has to divorce his wife. so it’s a packed schedule for poor anakin

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded mfer happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

I feel like many people have a fundamental misconception of what unreliable narrator means. It's simply a narrative vehicle not a character flaw or a sign that the character is a bad person. There are also many different types of unreliable narrators in fiction. Being an unreliable narrator doesn't necessarily mean that the character is 'wrong', it definitely doesn't mean that they're wrong about everything even if some aspects in their story are inaccurate, and only some unreliable narrators actively and consciously lie. Stories that have unreliable narrators also tend to deal with perception and memory and they often don't even have one objective truth, just different versions. It reflects real life where we know human memory is highly unreliable and vague and people can interpret same events very differently

So it turns out getting positive reinforcement on a drawing every 10 minutes for the better part of a week really does wonders for my dedication to finishing it and pushing myself on the details. who woulda thunk.
