was talking about this with friends but i also think having a good sense of when a story is headed in a direction you don't like is important for three reasons:
It helps you practice critical thinking skills / viewing something from a more objective and perhaps realistic lens. I have shows / stuff where even though I thought a story/plot decision or ship was a bad idea and it wasn't my preference, and even when I thought another story decision might make more sense, I was still able to recognize that "hey, this story is most likely going to go in this direction because of xyz" / setup and framing
This also means you can have an easier time leaving and/or getting out of a story when it begins to disappoint you / it can help build realistic expectations regarding the material in order for you to have a better time if you do stay.
And most importantly, perhaps, it just makes it all the more rewarding and exciting when you recognize a story is going in same the direction that you've hoped it would, because that is chef's kiss lemme tell you

"And I would say the third arc involves some new characters, some of the characters from the first seven, you know, the ones who survived season seven, but it's an evolution it's a next part of the story." - Aaron Ehasz on TDP Arc Three
Even before this quote I knew S7 would be heartbreaking. He already said that theme is "sacrifice" but I thought we would probably lose someone not someones. So let's break this down. Who is in the most danger?
Tumblr media
Callum and Rayla
I think these two are in the most danger, honestly. It pains me to say it, but I think it's true. Not only did Season Six feature heavily around Callum asking Rayla to kill him and, on the other hand, Rayla asking him to sacrifice her if it came to it; we also now know that if Callum uses dark magic again he'll lose himself completely.
All of this leads me to think that either A. Rayla and Callum will be forced to keep their promises or B. they will be forced to break them. Either way, tragedy befalls our beloved Rayllum.
Tumblr media
Soren
I have mixed feelings about how much danger Soren is in. On the one hand, he's the kind of person to use himself as a human shield, he's in charge of Ezran's protection, and I don't doubt that he would die for any of our characters or a stranger on the street. He's a true Crownguard. This makes me EXTREMELY worried.
On the other hand, we already had a moment in S6 where he had a chance to sacrifice himself, and they even made us think that he had for a moment. Which makes me think that maybe, because Viren died for his son and his kingdom, Soren will be allowed to live.
Tumblr media
Amaya and Janai
I am so worried about our queens, because I think that if we lose one, we're going to lose both. I feel like there's a chance that the pair of them die for the future of Elves and Humanity. Alternatively, they could barely feature in the final season, offering shelter in the background of the story to the people of Katolis so that the Dragang can go off on their adventure without worry for their people back home. But I think that if it's a season where they feature heavily, we stand a good chance of losing them.
Tumblr media
Claudia and Terry
Oh there are so many options for these two! I think there are two main possibilities, each with varying chances of survivability.
Option A. is Terry helping Claudia redeem herself. In this version of events, I think that Terry survives, but that there's an equal chance of Claudia sacrificing herself in her redemption and of her surviving.
Option B. is that while Aaravos is defeated in this final season, Claudia is not, and ends up being the final villain in Arc 3. In this universe, I think Terry dies in S7.
Either way, I think that both of them, but especially Claudia, is in grave danger in the coming season.
Tumblr media
Ezran
The only character that I truly feel is safe is Ezran. I don't think he will escape this season unscathed, I don't think anyone will. But I think that Ezran represents a bright future and breaking the cycle, and I think for that reason he has to survive to champion that future.

Callum & Viren: Are they similar? Is Callum on the same path as Viren? - Star Wars Analogies
I know there have been posts made before in the Dragon Prince fandom comparing characters from tdp to Star Wars characters, esp Callum to Anakin/Vader as someone who will eventually get corrupted/turn to the dark side and become a potential apprentice to Aaravos, as well as Rayllum to Anidala in terms of Callum being seen as being bound to doom the world for Rayla.
I wanted to share a different perspective of mine as to which characters/relationship dynamics (outside of romantic ones included) from tdp I believe compare the most to which Star Wars characters as a massive fan of both sagas myself.
The number one character from Star Wars that I see Callum being most similar to is Luke Skywalker, whereas a character I think is the best comparison to Anakin/Vader, especially after watching Season 6 of the Dragon Prince, would be none other than Viren himself. While I do know for a fact that the tdp characters aren’t carbon copies of the SW characters I’m comparing them to, I still think that their overall arcs are quite matching.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starting with Callum and Luke, on the surface, both are the hero who prevails and saves everyone & the whole world/galaxy from doom, but on a deeper level, they both struggle with a dark side inside of them & temptations to give in to it. And before I continue, I wanted to emphasize that I DO NOT see Callum as someone who’s morally dubious, as there are several instances in canon which prove otherwise, specifically his immense guilt over using dark magic and his fear of becoming corrupted and consumed by darkness in S6 (his nightmare at the beginning of episode 3 perfectly illustrates this), the latter of which is a challenge we also see Luke dealing with in The Empire Strikes Back.
youtube
Throughout the Original trilogy, mainly in ESB & Return of the Jedi, we see so many “hints” and “indicators” that Luke might turn to the dark side, who unlike Callum, actually shares many personality traits with his father such as his impatience and recklessness. We see Yoda fear that he might follow in his father’s footsteps before reluctantly training him, we see Vader and eventually Palpatine try to lure Luke to the dark side, even pointing out that they could sense his anger which is a major precursor for that. But in the end, despite all of those temptations, despite all of his anger and eventual fear & rage for his sister’s safety, he ultimately resisted and refused to join the sith.
Tumblr media
Along with seeing many protagonists who may be put in similar situations or even in some cases share some similarities with the main/major antagonist, such as Harry and Voldemort being another example of this, this is why I am a firm believer that Callum will be tested in Season 7, he may be faced with temptations to use dark magic again perhaps as a quick means to defeat Aaravos or potentially save Rayla if it gets to that, or even Aaravos trying to bribe him to join him, but in the end he will ultimately resist, since dark magic, as stated several times before, is merely a shortcut that leads to much bigger long term harm (which I don’t think there would be enough time to even flesh this out in the final season of the Mystery of Aaravos arc). As we’ve seen Callum reject succumbing to his dark side after he used dark magic for the first time, and seeing him willingly do the purification ritual to rid himself of his darkness/corruption in his soul, I do believe that Callum has the power to reject dark magic once and for all and do the right thing (this does not necessarily mean he would sacrifice Rayla if the plot does get to that, but I do think he would find a third option aside from dark magic to save her, like he did back in S3 when he cast the mage wing spell to save her). After all, a major theme in the Dragon Prince is breaking cycles and not repeating previous mistakes, so what would be the point in having those themes or specifically Harrow’s letter in the first place, or better yet have the whole “destiny’s a book you write yourself” line be brought up multiple times if Callum’s just fated keep repeating past mistakes over and over again?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now onto my next analogy: Viren & Anakin/Vader, the characters who I genuinely saw as those whose corruption & downfalls may have started out of desperation to save a loved one from dying, but ultimately grew into greed and hunger for power.
I could go on about the complexities of Anakin’s character, specifically the ones that got fleshed out even more in the Clone Wars and how there are multiple factors that led to his turn to the dark side, but that’s not the whole point of this post. I know that there are some differing factors between both Viren and Anakin in terms of their dark sides/stories, but ultimately the last straw that led to their corruption was the fact that they were both terrified of losing an important loved one and both were completely unwilling to let that happen, whatever the price they had to pay. We also see them seek some sort of counsel/beg for help, like when Anakin vaguely told Yoda about his visions and fears, and Viren telling Kpp’Ar about Soren’s condition and needing the staff, ultimately both Anakin and Viren were told that there wasn’t really anything that could be done and they both needed to learn to let go. However neither of them were having that, so we somewhat see them both resort to another counsel, both very different but leading to same outcome. Anakin starts to open up more to Palpatine, who in turn manipulates him and convinces him that he has his “solution.” While Viren on the other hand, may have offered advice to Harrow to “do what he must” over his own dilemma, he in turn used that same advice but in a more twisted, corrupted manner. So then, both Anakin and Viren resort to darker approaches to solve their own problems and completely give in to their own darknesses.
I won’t go into deep detail about what they each did, since you can just rewatch these scenes in Revenge of the Sith and Episode 6 of TDP for that, but now I wanted to talk about how despite having the desire to save their loved ones, they ultimately caused massive harm to them. Anakin desperately did whatever he could to save Padme, but in the end, when he thought she betrayed him, he force-choked her then afterwards, she was shattered and heartbroken over his downfall that it led to her death, the very thing that Anakin tried so hard to prevent. While Viren on the other hand may have succeeded in healing and saving Soren, he grew to treat him coldly and abusively to the point where he completely damaged & even destroyed his relationship with his very son that he corrupted himself completely to save in the first place.
Even though I primarily focused on the similarities between Viren saving Soren & Anakin trying to save Padme, I also wanted to point out how similar the impacts were on Lissa and Padme as well, namely how they were both horrified when they saw what became of their husbands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sadly both of them ended up getting assaulted by their corrupted husbands, which then led up to the destruction of their families. And ultimately both Viren and Anakin continued on their dark paths and grew more ruthless, evil, and corrupted until they finally reached their eventual redemptions (I know not everyone thinks that Viren got redeemed but I do believe that his redemption arc was him accepting that he’s done far too much and accepting the consequences for his actions).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So far these are the thoughts that I have on which Dragon Prince characters/relationships I think compare best to which Star Wars ones. And I know that Claudia would also be a good comparison to Anakin since she too struggles a lot with loss and refuses to let go, but at the same time, I see her still being in Anakin’s early villain phase during Revenge of the Sith, not yet having reached the Vader levels that we see during the Original Trilogy era. The way I see Vader & Viren relationships with Luke and Callum’s characters, it’s that the former two represent what the latter two fear of becoming if they do not overcome their dark sides.
But to answer my questions in the header, I do not think that Callum is bound to be on the same path as Viren or that he will let himself be consumed by darkness. Season 6 dealt with his overall guilt over using dark magic, his fear of being consumed by it/being used as by Aaravos, and ultimately his choice to purify himself of his darkness and understanding the consequences of doing dark magic again beforehand. Just as many protagonists get put through the wringer in their final battles, but ultimately persevere and do the right thing, I do believe that Callum will win and not fall victim to his temptations once again.
That’s all I have folks! Thanks for reading this far if you have! And an important friendly reminder (as mentioned already in my bio) if you have differing opinions and would like to disagree and discuss, please be sure to do so respectfully. Otherwise scroll by or I’ll be more than glad to press that block button! 😊🙌🏽
I try not to dig into Tolkien's earliest mythology and cosmology because honestly I find it completely insane. Like the story of the Silmarils I can get behind because that's garden-variety pettiness, but when you get back to "Melkor was too proud to understand that even the disharmonies he introduced into the music of the universe were, in fact, a part of Eru Iluvatar's grand design in that they and the Ainur's melodies formed to counter them made the whole all the more beautiful" my eyes just kinda roll out of my head. BUT something from checking up on making sure I was remembering Laurelin correctly snagged my interest, and I wound up reading about the awakening and "sundering" of the elves.
My loose summary:
Before the sun and moon were created, the abandoned Middle-Earth was in darkness because the Two Trees only illuminate the paradise of Valinor. The elves come into being in the east of Middle-Earth not long after the stars are placed in the sky, so the first light they perceive is starlight.
The elves "awaken" in three groups, which form tribes according to the order in which they awoke, literally "Firsts," "Seconds," and "Thirds" (in that the names of the three who then awoke the others became the roots for the words "one," "two," and "three). Obviously, the First elves are the best.
For reasons that aren't entirely clear to me beyond "they just think elves are neat," the Valar invite the elves to come live in Valinor. The 2/3-ish of them who accept undertaking that journey are then called Eldar, literally "star-folk."
Not all of the Eldar complete the journey—some of them instead settling at various points across Middle-Earth, all the way up to the edge of the sea. These all develop their own cultures, a shared language, and dialects. (This, of course, was the whole point.)
Like I said, the First elves are obviously the best elves: 100% of the First elves agree to go to Valinor and 100% of them complete the journey. They also never leave except that one time they all fight Melkor, unlike the Second elves who made it to Valinor and were eventually exiled. We don't talk about the Third elves.
ANYWAY, the decline of the elves from their First elves peak goes on for thousands of years but eventually they all leave and the world enters the Age of Men.
So in short we've got:
Primacy of the stars over other celestial bodies and also literally everything else
A slow splitting and dispersal of the elves from a single people into many
The consistent through-line of the First elves to Eldar and then Vanyar (Fair/High elves who remained in Valinor), superior to other elves
For all that elves and men are largely allies, there is still a thematic thread of them being antithetical to each other—the rise of men corresponds with the decline of the elves, even if it's not coming at their direct expense, etc.
Valinor also gets its own "these men set their eyes on power they weren't meant to have (in this case immortality) thanks to the manipulative whispers of a malevolent entity (Sauron), so their great kingdom was left in ruins and Valinor was sealed away from the lands of men except by a path only elves can traverse" story, but to be honest that's an incredibly common narrative that Tolkien was already cribbing from Babel or Atlantis or Eden or any of the other "we got too proud/greedy/corrupted and now everything sucks" stories. There's also enough other crap surrounding it that you can't really say "ha ha look it's Elarion" except in the "same hat theme!" way. But I wanted to mention it.
BUT YEAH idk man it's just kinda interesting to me that there's the same kind of Stars/First Elves/Great Ones thing going on, particularly the way that in TDP there are elves, but the entities referred to as a Star/Stars also still exist, or Aaravos wouldn't be wanting to get back at them. It's just being handled in a very different way, because uh... yeah, if anyone wrote "the first elves all went to paradise and never left it, even while the mortal world suffered under the yoke of evil, except when the time came to defeat literal satan" now, those guys would rightfully be assholes.
So just out of curiosity, how much hurt are you about to put the fnf trio through after having tdp de-soul you?
OFUDHDJF ANON. ANON DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ANON
I feel like I can say this now but that whole period of time where I wrote nothing but angst for the sake of angst? Yeah I wonder what piece of media took the brunt of that. It was TDP. Always TDP.
I have terrifying ideas. I really do. Aside from the one I had from the start where you know, eventually GF will have to watch Pico and BF die without her because they are human and she isn't. That's always been in my mind since day one of starting Poly Propaganda and I would be lying if I said I didn't think about ending the series on a one-shot like that where GF is alone, years and years in the future. I won't. At least I don't think I will but yknow things change-
If I was stronger I would add a TDP AU on top of my Fossil Fighters AU. Sunfire Elf GF would go crazy. Moonshadow Elf Pico. Human-Skywing hybrid BF. Yknow, ideas. But I know I would get too distracted to do much with it so neh.
GF already has magic being a demon anyways there's always awful accidents I can cause with that without a crossover. Maybe one of them gets a little too hurt in one situation because oh, perhaps, their one deep truths are each other, and they do it all for each other, perhaps even give their life up. Could make two have to watch the third fade away and die in their arms. Could make the dying one tell them "close your eyes" so they don't have to see it happen. COULD
But it comes to a point where I have to decide can my own heart handle that anymore. I'm not 19 years old anymore, suffering in the tail-ends of a trauma that took 3 years already from my life. Back then I could handle the awful things I wrote because as far as I was concerned, I already lived in it. That was nothing but a typical afternoon. I don't suffer like that anymore, I don't think, and maybe I've forgotten a little how bad I really was. I don't think I want to return to that, though. Glimpses will happen because progress isn't a straight line. Some days you lose it all and remember things. And yknow. Maybe just because my heart survived all of that doesn't mean I should dip back into it for long, if at all
Pain should not be comfortable. Like I wrote. It shouldn't. And my relationship with angsty writing is a bit... way more complicated than it should be. I still do it sometimes, but notice how I always give it a happy ending? Yeah I didn't always used to do that. Like, at all. It's very VERY tempting to do that again for FNF because "I can". Doesn't mean I should but the ideas are there! And I may not write them but I can still think them. There's a lot.
Because maybe I would be that mean to let BF die in Pico and GF's arms. Some version of me would. Just maybe not this one :]
Chasing Shadows pt 3 has some REALLY COOL implications for the rest of the show!
Alright lads, bear with me because I’m typing this on mobile but I just HAD to fawn over this.
Chasing shadows pt 3. Wow what an ending that has some really awesome implications for the future of the show!
Okay first of all, it’s very possible the dark mage Rayla finds may be Tressal since the description fits. That would be really cool because it would be the first ToX cameo in TDP! And having it be Tressal is just… YES!
Secondly, damn, Rayla was really gonna pursue him even after she realized it wasn’t Viren huh? 💀 Jeez calm down Ray 😂.
Third of all, during the ending, for the first time, Rayla is directly confronted with the other, more positive side of dark magic. First the ingredients she uncovers aren’t the horrific stuff she was expecting and next “Tressal” explains what they can be used for (and likely what he was intending to do with them) which includes healing wounds, illness and plagues and such. This is one of the arguments people like us have been making FOREVER and it’s so great to see it directly shown here and DIRECTLY referenced. But it actually also makes Rayla stop and CONSIDER what he’s talking about. Rayla is actually CHALLENGED ABOUT HER VIEW ON DARK MAGIC AND IT MAKES HER GO INTO THOUGHT!
I got so excited when I saw this! It shows me that Wonderstorm is finally ready to go full nuance with dark magic and not just have it be “Evil magic that must be exterminated”. I’ve been hoping that the ending to TDP wouldn’t suggest that dark magic needs to be eliminated, and everyone who wants to be a “good guy” needs to abandon dark magic completely. Instead hoping that it could be regulated to maintain as much of the positive impacts of dm as possible while minimizing the problematic sides and I just now, from this ending, got more hope that we will see something like that!
Just in general, in the entire volume 2 of reflections there have been a good number of stories that have been more sympathetic to the human plight. Aaravos’s story that kicked off volume 2 where it implies that humans were initially hunted for having any sort of magic at all (I made a post on that too). Then the Zubeia one which made Zubeia of all people admit that Avizandum went overboard, and that’s WITH all her bias, giving a formal acknowledgment from the show that… yes… Avi definitely wasn’t the best guy. And now we get this.
I feel this bodes VERY well for the future of the show especially with Sol Regem making his big return next season, and I’m excited to see where they take all these ideas in future seasons. It seems our hopes for TDP to give more light to Xadia’s wrongs have not been lost yet!
Three ways to read the Riordanverse's series
Whether you are a new fan or a returning one, you might be confused about the reading order of Riordan's books (especially since there are more than twenty of them, even without counting extra books - with those there are nearly forty). If so, you are in the right place. Here under the cut are 3 ways to read the Percy Jackson series, each one providing a different experience. (this took me so long to make you have no idea)
Obs.: You don't necessarily have to read the extra books, but some of them contain short stories that are relevant to the plot and beloved by the fans. I heavily recommend you read at least those (which will be marked with a ☆)
Obs. 2: We usually use a 3 or 4-letters acronym to refer to Riordanverse's series and books. Thus, the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series would be PJO, The Lightning Thief (1st book of the series and the one they're adapting right now) would be TLT and so on. I'll try to avoid them but if you see them that's what they mean lol.
Obs. 3: Rick Riordan is currently releasing a new 3-books long series due to the show release which is being branded as a continuation of PJO. However, they contain spoilers of the second main series. Thus, they'll be marked as PJOX here for identification purposes.
Obs. 4: A lot of people will stop reading the series because they can't get through the first two books of TOA. I beg you to keep reading. The third and the last book of the series are two of the best ones Rick Riordan has ever written (with the last book being my favorite of his by far).
Recommended for: anyone
Chronological order
Recommended for: anyone
The chronological order of the stories, mainly following the guide made by taetaae_v, eliascsc, riordanverso and percyjstan (all on Twitter). The only thing NOT included is the first story from the extra book "The Demigod Diaries", as it contains spoilers/heavy foreshadowing about the first series, including the end. If you are reading for the first time, I advise you to not buy the book until you finish PJO and to read the story afterwards. If you are rereading the series, the story is chronologically located before everything else, so start by reading it.
Refer to the release order to know when to read the extra books (outside from the stories included below), since they contain content that can't really be placed. Also, Rick Riordan is not the best writer when it comes to consistency, so some of the short stories might actually contradict what is said in the main book series when placed where they are, even if it is the only reasonable time to place them.
(For rereaders) 1st Story (from The Demigod Diaries)
The Lightning Thief/TLT (Percy Jackson and the Olympians/PJO)
The Sea of Monsters/SoM (PJO)
The Titan's Curse/TTC (PJO)
The Battle of The Labyrinth/BotL (PJO)
Percy Jackson and the Bronze Dragon (from The Demigod Files)
Percy Jackson and the Stolen Chariot (from The Demigod Files - alternatively placed between TTC and BotL)
Percy Jackson and the Sword of Hades (from The Demigod Files)
The Last Olympian/TLO (PJO)
(For 1st time readers) 1st Story (from The Demigod Diaries)
Percy Jackson and the Singer of Apollo (PJO Extra - hard to find in print especially if you're not from the US, I genuinely recommend you to look for a PDF version)
The Staff of Hermes (from The Demigod Diaries)
The Lost Hero/TLH (The Heroes of Olympus/HOO)
Leo Valdez and the Quest for Buford (from The Demigod Diaries)
The Red Pyramid/TRP (The Kane Chronicles/TKC)
The Throne of Fire/ToF (TKC)
Son of Magic (from The Demigod Diaries, by Haley Riordan - not strictly part of the series but adds some depth)
The Dark Prophecy/TDP (TOA)
The Burning Maze/TBM (TOA)
The Hammer of Thor/HoT (MCGA)
The Tyrant's Tomb/TTT (TOA)
The Ship of The Dead/SoD (MCGA)
The Tower of Nero/ToN (TOA)
The Sun and the Star: A Nico di Angelo Adventure/TSatS (Stand-alone)
Greek Mythology First order (Personal Favorite)
Recommended for: those who want to read the main series first before going to the Egyptian/Norse mythology spin-offs.
Besides Rick Riordan's three main 5-books series about Greek mythology, there are also two other 3-books series about other mythologies and following other characters. Although there are crossovers between the main series and the other two and they sometimes reference each other, there's absolutely nothing lost by reading the main series first and you can do that without receiving any spoilers.
The books are organized following the chronological order of the series, so PJOX comes before TOA. The extra books that aren't relevant for the story are added at the end of their series. You can also read TKC between PJO and HOO and MCGA either before or after TOA (TKC can actually be read at any point, but MCGA needs to be read after HOO).
Greek Mythology
The Lightning Thief/TLT (Percy Jackson and the Olympians/PJO)
The Sea of Monsters/SoM (PJO)
Synopsis
Caught in the middle of a devastating war on Kastarion 3, the Doctor is trapped when he steps on a landmine. Can he save himself, Ruby, and the entire planet - without moving?
Plot
The Doctor and Ruby land upon a planet engulfed by warfare.
As the doctor pokes his head out of the tardis whilst Ruby is getting ready, he hears trouble, grabs his coat, and runs out to save the day... except maybe not.
As the doctor is dashing his way through the battlefield, he accidently stands upon a landmine.
Ruby hears the Doctor singing 'The skye boat song' (A nod to the second doctor), and runs to find him stood with one leg on the landmine and one leg in the air.
The doctor instructs Ruby to go find a rock, or something else heavy, so that he can counterbalance his weight when he moves, and try and put his foot down.
Ruby finds a strange heavy object that she assumes to be an urn, however soon finds out it's the compressed tissue of a solider.
The Doctor sees that Ruby finds the urn-like object and asks her to throw it into her other hand.
Ruby is then seen a bit hesitant to do it but ends up doing it anyway. The Doctor calculates the weight of the object and then asks for Ruby to chuck it to him.
OK so. i have been sifting thru all five books for the past uh. i dont even know how many hours now, but i think i've compiled a full list of his outfits from all the five books! im going to go pass out now and preferably not read another word of bright pdfs for the rest of my life
The Hidden Oracle:
So i hate to burst everybody's bubble right in the first line, but THO is actually where most of his outfits are ever mentioned, so don't get your hopes up too high for the rest of the books- you'll see what i mean
Outfit number one, and the second most iconic apollo fit out there! Let's go!
Tumblr media
2. Next we have the second, most iconic, most coveted, and most well known outfit apollo has ever graced before: THE led zeppelin fit
Tumblr media
3. CHB outfit! I think the coat mentioned is pretty underrated, would love to see more of it
Tumblr media
4. For the final... arc? fight? climax? of THO, he goes back to the led zeppelin shirt and jeans, with the addition of the coat:
Tumblr media
Bonus: Accessorizing b4 entering the woods of death
Tumblr media
And that's it for THO, onto to TDP!
The Dark Prophecy:
And for TDP we have.... absolutely nothing. I don't know how, and I don't know why, but for some reason there are exactly 0 descriptions of any of Lester's outfits in TDP. It's mentioned that he's wearing jeans at some point, and that he threw up on his shirt (very helpful), but apart from that, there is practically zero mention of his clothes. Very un-Lester like if you ask me. We are given a rather vivid description of Calypso's outfit though, for whatever reason
Tumblr media
The Burning Maze:
Again, not those many mentions of his outfits, btu there are a few. I'm beginning to think that rick peaked with the fashion ideas in THO and it went downhill from there
Exhibit A: The hot pink camo pants!!! Ranked at number three in 'famous lester fits':
Tumblr media
2. Hot Pink Camo But It's Not Really Hot Pink It's White:
Tumblr media
The Tyrant's Tomb:
I spent an unnecessary amount of time combing through this one, not because I was unable to figure out where they mentioned any of his clothes, but more because TTT is my favorite one and I got sidetracked too many times
TTT's outfit is........ a toga. That's it. That's all we get. boo
Tumblr media
(if you guys are wondering why ttt has so little mentions of his clothes, it's because he's shirtless for most of it bc of the whole stomach wound thing. it's kind of sad)
The Tower of Nero
Ratty percy clothes are BACK in fashion let's GOOOO
Tumblr media
2. Next up: THE OLIVE TEE !!!!!!!! SCREAMS AND CLAPS. Honestly I think that this one might be the third most iconic, so the hot pink camo pants are getting demoted down to fourth
Tumblr media
3. Hunter outfit is next up! Underrated outfit #2 tbh
Tumblr media
4. + the edited version of it:
Tumblr media
And that's it! Apart from his visits to all of his friends, where he goes as Lester, these are pretty much all the outfits I could find! I'm not sure if these are all of them, because that would require a full thorough rereading, so if anyone knows any more, feel free to add to this!
I need some sort of lester outfit masterlist or smth I can never decide how to draw him
#rb
Ao3 Kudos Bot at work
Tumblr media
So, I got 5000 kudos in 12 hours, evenly distributed across all my fics, in a small fandom deep in hiatus. Obviously, these are fake, there just aren’t that many readers, and some of these stories are niche oneshots posted a year ago.
I’m sure some of you have noticed or experienced it yourselves, but I haven’t seen any posts about it on here, and this kudos bot has hit our little fandom HARD over the last few days. Every other newer fic is affected, although not all to the degree mine have been, some experience bursts of 40-100 kudos on a single fic. This is just a psa, if this happens to you, or you’re confused with the numbers you see with others. The writers themselves are not doing this, it’s a third party.
I do NOT want these kudos, they’re meaningless and not reflective of real reader interaction, and it feels really shitty to have these forced on you. This is not harmless, certainly not to me, but not on a larger scale either. 1) It makes it impossible for me to gauge my real stats, it’s hit every single one of my fics. 2) it’s demotivating because it’s burying the real guest kudos, I don’t know if any of them were real so I can’t be happy about them. 3) it’s unfairly promoting my fics relative to others, which I feel horrible about. Kudos is the most common metric for readers to sort by, and I don’t want to benefit at the expense of others. 4) It’s undermining the system at large, making kudos a useless metric by which to judge stories. 5) I worry people will suspect me of doing this myself and that I look dishonest, and it’ll be at best a reader-deterrent and at worst get me reported.
Ao3 is not able to do anything at present, was the response I and many others got. I understand it’s run by volunteers and resources are limited, and this post is not meant as a complaint. But I wanted to show the scope of this, because in a small fandom, this is a massive impact, fics don’t GET that many kudos, and it’s already at a point where kudos are meaningless, just a few days into this. And the bot is still at it.
Have other fandoms been hit this hard? Is it just less visible in larger fandoms? I’ve talked about it in discord servers and reddit and not gotten much response from outside the tdp fandom, but enough to know that it’s not EXCLUSIVE to tdp.
