“The Archer” Angel Dust Analysis

A/n: ALRIGHT YALL❣️ it’s been a hot minute (literally a whole month lol rip☠️) but I have FINALLY written this and am ready to share it with everyone!🤩 So I’m a huge Swiftie and I absolutely love Angel😭💕 so listening to this song: “The Archer” instantly made me think of him. I think the lyrics really highlight how his experiences with love have shaped the complexities of his true feelings and while we still have so much more to discover about his and Husk’s developing relationship in the show, I truly think that this song just “screams” them. If you haven’t listened to the song before, I definitely recommend to!😊 Anyway, lez get into it!😎

Okay so, with these first few lines, we can think about how much Angel has been through, both in life and death. Like anyone else, he’s made mistakes and fought with many people he’s cared about before, whether that be with his birth family (ex: Arackniss, Molly) or his newfound family/friends he’s made at the hotel later on (ex: Charlie, Husk, Niffty, Sir Pentious, etc). But in terms of his actual familial background, Angel was born and raised in the mafia, meaning he’s used to seeing the indescribable horrors and violence associated with that lifestyle. He has no choice but to conjure up this metaphorical shield of “armor” in order to not only protect himself but also, survive. This ultimately makes it very difficult for Angel to form and develop good, healthy relationships, whether that’d be platonic or romantic, because as much as he craves genuine love and affection, isn’t that going against everything he’s known? To not care about what anyone thinks of him because at the end of the day, everyone leaves regardless? Angel Dust is a perfect example of being conditioned to this toxic, negative mindset he’s built for himself every day and we especially see more of this when it comes to his work with Valentino.

Now Angel is a celebrity, the most famous porn star in all of hell. Of course, due to his natural charisma and good looks, all eyes are drawn to him. He’s expected to essentially “put on a show” and show off what he’s “good for” because who could resist the seductive, charming Angel Dust? But that’s the cruel irony behind it all. Angel’s perception of his pornstar persona overshadows the reality of his true self, which makes it easy for him to push people away and not let anyone see the real him. He’s bred to allow people to chase after him, lust after him, because that’s the embodiment of who Angel Dust is, not who Anthony is. Angel Dust doesn’t care if people “leave” him because he knows that one way or another, there’s always someone else who will appreciate him for his “talents”, who will shower him with the desire and attention he so desperately seeks, despite it being superficial. But Anthony? No one knows who that is nor anyone would care to know who Anthony is in Angel’s mind, so rather than reveal his true thoughts, he decides to remain silent and keep them hidden from the public view as a way to protect himself.

Now, these second set of lyrics go a little more in-depth about Angel’s personal life and relationships. The first line expresses how easily he attracts people and yet still drives them away. The second one, however, can be explored through both a platonic and a romantic perspective. In a platonic lens, Angel struggles with making real, genuine friends (other than Cherri) because he’s afraid no one will be interested to get to know him. The same thing can be said in a romantic point of view. Angel loves to flirt, yes, but with his pornstar persona, he over-amplifies it and makes it seem like he’s “on board” in the beginning, but in the slightest sense of any seriousness or vulnerability, he “jumps off”, going his own way because he knows he’s unable to commit. This third line takes a look into how Angel is associated with being the “black sheep” of his family. Despite his somewhat childish nature, Angel’s always causing trouble and has never been the more focused, responsible type like his older brother: Arackniss. But due to these specific family dynamics, this shows how Angel feels like he’s never taken seriously with his true self. And because of that, he doesn’t understand how to grow and mature enough as a person to handle long-term relationships. The last line here can be portrayed as Angel’s inner thoughts and feelings towards his future love interest in the series: Husk. Angel is so used to giving up and running away from the idea of real love because of his own sexual abuse and trauma from Valentino. But throughout his whole afterlife, Husk is the only good man who respects and values Angel for who he truly is and despite how nice yet unfamiliar that feeling is, Angel’s terrified of losing it. Therefore, these lyrics can imply how he’s pleading for Husk to help him stay grounded and focus on exploring and pursuing this new relationship with him.

In the chorus, we can start to see the lyrics become even more personified towards Angel’s life. He’s been hurt by so many people, yet he’s also his own worst enemy because he’s done the same thing to those who he cares about too, ultimately straining or damaging the relationships as a whole. He wonders why no one would want to stay in his life, but deep down, he knows that he doesn’t make it easy for people to love him either. So in order to change that, he needs to believe in himself and trust that he can make a positive effort towards becoming better.

Dark side, I search for your dark side

But what if I’m all right, right, right, right here?

And I cut off my nose just to spite my face

Then hate my reflection, for years and years

Within the next verse, we can connect back to how Angel’s toxic mindset has made a profound impact on himself and his relationships. There’s a big part of him that’s always subconsciously searching for the negative aspects of letting people into his life, and that in itself, is what overpowers his psyche into not recognizing and acknowledging the positive facets as well. These next few lines can be referenced to how he strives to maintain his pornstar persona. The whole concept of Angel Dust is for him to be as appealing and desirable to everyone no matter what because that’s what the public likes to see. But unfortunately, what Angel doesn’t comprehend is that he doesn’t need to overemphasize this “mask” of his because the real, genuine people in his life (such as Molly, Charlie, Cherri, Husk, etc.) love and accept him for who he is internally rather than externally. This lack of understanding can also drive him to act impulsive with his emotions and lash out towards the people he deeply cares about, thereby causing him to feel hatred towards himself and regret the decisions he’s made later on.

The metaphorical meaning behind these next lyrics can connect to how empty and restless Angel feels when he’s by himself. We know that he suffers intense nightmares and drug hallucinations from Valentino, but in this next line: “The room is on fire, invisible smoke”, this allows us to dive deeper into his inner troubles and the emotional turmoil and chaos he’s experiencing from it. He’s known to “burn bridges” and “start fires” with others because like I stated previously, he believes everyone will leave him eventually, so as a result, he shuts people out as a way to cope with this depression and loneliness, knowing that it’s still his fault.

Here we have the main chorus again, but what’s different is that the word “screaming” is used. This allows us to really see and feel the intensity behind Angel’s emotions. It can almost be viewed as if he’s “crying out for help” and begging for someone, ANYONE, to reach out and stay there with him.

This next sequence of lyrics is pretty self-explanatory, especially regarding Angel’s famous reputation. Based upon his story arc so far, the internal struggles and hardships Angel has faced throughout life and death have definitely taken a toll on him. Even though he aims to portray this glamorous, charming pornstar personality, characters like Husk can see right through Angel pretty easily and have no issue in calling him out for how fake he’s being. This not only makes Angel very hyper-aware of his mask “slipping away”, but also adds on an extra layer of anxiety and panic he’s feeling from losing control of that facade.

The first line here is a clear reference to the nursery rhyme, Humpty Dumpty, but the next few lines are what really emphasize Angel’s character even more. Angel is not an easy guy to get along with. He knows he can be an asshole and because of that, he’s made many enemies who could’ve potentially stayed as friends in his life if he didn’t push them away. But that doesn’t make him feel as if he’s alone right? After all, Angel Dust is fulfilled with receiving “love” from clients, fans, and Valentino all the time, so that has to mean something, right? This particular mindset is what fuels Angel to continue craving that form of infatuation and attention because it’s what he surrounds himself with every day. However, once that “high” dies down, who does he have waiting there for him at home? No one, because in reality, he IS alone and that terrifies him even more due to the fact that he’s the reason behind these self-destructive tendencies.

These final lines of the song play a significant role in how Angel’s perspective on love can change for the future. Like I’ve said prior, Angel has never had anyone show real, genuine interest in him before, that is, until he met Husk. Husk has made it very clear in the beginning that he doesn’t like putting up with anyone’s bullshit. While his gruff, no-nonsense exterior may be off-putting to others, Angel is very attracted to how real Husk is in expressing how he feels and that is exactly the kind of person Angel needs in his life right now. Over some time throughout the series so far, we start to see a closer relationship develop between the two as well, how fond and comfortable they are of each other. This scares Angel because like all of his other relationships and his current predicament with Valentino, he’s afraid that Husk will voluntarily leave or be taken away from him forever. So in order to avoid that, Angel is determined to do everything he can to keep Husk a permanent part of his life.

Overall, Angel is well aware that he’s not an easy person to love, but with Husk, he feels as if he could be the one to truly understand and accept him for who he is. That maybe, and hopefully, Husk will be the one to stay for good❤️

As an ace myself, I find this really interesting to think about. And I think some of this would come down to the pure manipulation that IS an incubus/succubus.

(Warning for potentially triggering sexual content) If you wanna skip the serious stuff, just go to the final para lol.

Talking realistically here, this would be something that would have to be done with long term manipulation imo. Not a casual fling like anyone else. Haarlep can likely sense the desires, pheromones and 'weaknesses' of others who want sex and are easily manipulated when it comes to sex. Easy victims would be those that are already feeling low, easy targets like those who may have broken up with someone, on the rebound, drunk, people who simply crave physical touch and attention, or seek validation so they feel good about themselves, etc. It makes it ten times easier for Haarlep to pull that victim in because they WANT that attention, and Haarlep will give it to them.

Charm plays a massive part in what Haarlep is, though. Haarlep oozes it. Charm isn't just... charisma either, it's literally the spell charm. Haarlep will charm them and put them under that spell. So, it's even easier if the prey is attempting to resist.

Despite that, this all comes down to sex, which, if you're ace, you're still not going to have that desire for sex with another individual (especially if you're anything like me). Haarlep may be able to manipulate them just like anyone else when it comes to other things, but you can't just switch a person's desire unless actually put under a spell that would force them to desire that certain thing. But this also comes down to manipulation. There are a lot of ace people who feel that they must have sex to be considered in a relationship, society pressures them, or their partner guilt trips them (it's an awful thing, but it does exist). Manipulation is a powerful thing, and... Haarlep is a fiend. Just because one does not desire sex, doesn't mean they can't be manipulated into giving it :( Most succubi and/or incubi we see in media generally manipulate their prey in any way or form that they can, it is simply the monsters that they are (I won't RP any noncon here, but it also isn't something I will just deny about Haarlep's kind--Haarlep also has had Raphael to feast upon, so thankfully he's never really needed to, but that's not to say he can't and won't--you've got to remember that he's an incubus, and they're not creatures written for their kind souls). They are, unfortunately, born of evil.

At the end of the day, it's likely not worth the trouble and energy for Haarlep, and he'd just end up picking another victim. Unless this was someone of UTMOST importance that he was trying to manipulate, then it's just not worth it. Plenty of fish in the sea that are easier to catch.

Haarlep, a creature of sexuality, knows that asexual people exist, and whilst he, personally (ofc), doesn't GET it, because he's MADE for sex and that is their curse that they must bear, it IS a part of who he is as an incubus.

Harry is a triple fire sign, signifying someone with an abundance of creativity, courage, loyalty, and strength. Harry’s Aries Moon trining his Leo Sun explains why he is so often singled out for a leadership role, even before he would readily nominate himself for the role. It suits him, naturally, and is obvious to those around him. This fire primes him to be someone of action, with little patience for lies, Harry actively seeks the truth and doesn’t readily accept authoritative roles telling him no. In fact, he isn’t very inclined to follow rules at all. And while he may be dynamic, triple fire also leaves a path towards a lazy streak, something that crops up particularly in school. He’s not suited for a classroom setting, even when quite competent in the more physical demands of the wixen world.

SUN | LEO, 8°34'44" | EIGHTH HOUSE

The Sun determines conscious self, identity, and “role” in life. In many ways it is the core of who a person is, and what they most readily identify with. Harry’s Sun is in Leo, meaning he is fundamentally bold and proud. For the most part, he is self-assured in his abilities and how to use them. Harry’s Ascendant is in Sagittarius, he can come across as independent, optimistic, and confident, though sometimes overly blunt or critical. Generally a charming conversationalist, your free-spirited approach may come off as restless or easily bored. TOKIYA ICHINOSE

Maybe it was his midnight-blue hair, or perhaps it was his ocean eyes, but the very moment I laid my eyes upon him my mind immediately thought, “Wow, he’s very good looking… charming... I really like his vibe.” That was the first reason why he piqued my interest, rather, the initial reason why I fancied him. My eyes were drawn to him and the fact that Kay bombarded me with a truckload of his pictures didn’t help at all, I just fell deeper into the hole. But as if that wasn’t enough, she started spamming me with utapri songs and I fell in love immediately. They are all such good singers but there’s one of them who sticks out to me the most, as expected, it’s Tokiya. His voice has this intricate and refined softness that seemed to caress my ears and touch my soul. He has such a sweet (and might I add a handsome) voice, kudos to Miyano Mamoru for that.

So I started watching the anime and through that, I got to know him better. At first, he seems cold with an air of loneliness and uneasiness dawning on him. But as the series progresses, I discovered that he’s a good-natured, warm, and dedicated person who loves singing and music with all his heart and all. He’s hardworking, dedicating everything to his craft. He has pride in it, so when he was told that his singing has no ‘heart’ it affected him a lot. That caused a lot of distress in his system, and the fact that his company is pushing him to pursue other things than being a singer added to that. His passion for his craft is burning, a fire that no one could put out. That’s one of the things that I love about him. He’s dedicated to everything he does. He’s a perfectionist but he’s also a caring person who cares a lot about the starish members. He’s genuinely a good person but that doesn’t mean he’s perfect. He strives for improvement and development all the time. He helps the members whenever they need. Most importantly, his attitude towards his passion is respectable and admirable.

I might’ve said a lot of things but I guess that only means I love a lot of things about him. He’s such a beautiful soul that inspires me to be more dedicated to my passion, to make my dreams come true no matter what it takes. His path towards his dream was rough, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows but that’s life, isn’t it? Despite that, he kept walking towards his dream. He’s admirable, respectable, and irresistibly loveable. That being said, I love all the things that made his character; that made Tokiya Ichinose be the kind of character that he is right now.

PS. Miyano Mamoru played a big part too. His insane talent gave life to Tokiya’s character.

When I first watched the Utapri anime like 6 years ago, having a best boy didn't cross my mind. At first, I was just most interested in Tokiya out of all the boys because I just thought he looked cool. I liked how mysterious he seemed and also, his hair, probably just because it was blue tbh. Either way, good design.

However, what really got me attached to him wasn't his looks. I then liked Tokiya's serious personality. I like how he starts off cold and stoic but how throughout the games and anime, he slowly softens up. I didn't just like his personality, I could also relate to his perfectionism and hard-working side, even when he exhausts himself, which is something I admit I also have. I continue to relate to him now after all this time, and that's why he's such a good character to me.

Besides that, his songs are nice to listen to and he has just a very pleasant voice. It's nice just to go listen to his voice after a long day. In a way, liking Tokiya also got me into the whole Utapri franchise: made some friends, made a couple of good memes, all that kinda stuff.

Also, I feel like it's a crime not to mention this so: he thicc. Like, dang, no wonder the guy only eats salads because all the fats he eats goes straight to that ass of his. (I am sorry that you had to read that.)

Overall, I just think he's neat. To me, he's relatable and has a nice character development. Tokiya is and will continue to be my best boy. :)

REN JINGUJI

Ren Jinguji, the 5th member of Starish is without any shame my favorite character of the Uta no prince sama series. Though often disregarded Ren is and always will be my most favorite and I firmly believe that he has one of the most, if not the most depth in his character. I love Ren a lot however because of his surface charismatic attitude he is usually labeled as a “playboy” or a “lothario”. This is not correct and it should never define him, as he actually is one of the most gentle and compassionate characters of the series. Ren has a very deep surface characterization and personality that is never usually recognized unless you truly take the time to understand WHY Ren acts the way he does, and WHY he makes the choices that he makes. My favorite part about loving characters is being able to accept them for their demons and embrace what others would see as the “imperfections” in them. That Is the best way to truly love them. I love Ren because of his motives, choices, and most of all his passionate loving heart. Although the pain he hides and the personality of who he really is, is hidden under a mask of charisma, he never loses himself deep within.

He’s misunderstood, but he’s beautiful. He’s so deep, from the everlasting devotion to loving his passed on mother, to always cherishing memories and the past bond he had with his childhood best friend Masato, to going against what his brother wants of him because he wants to fight to have a choice and to be passionate about something that he wants to love, because HE wants to love it. Ren didn’t have the love that a lot of people had at such a young age, he made a path for himself and along the way succumbed to the human faults that we all falter from within the hardest times in our life or even dicult events. He almost gave up, just as I know many of us had almost done before, as I know and can relate to, and still do now.

But he dusted himself o and picked up where he left o, making himself happy from once the feeling of being a hollow shell with no reason why he even existed to realizing that the most important thing in the world to him was cherishing the people who made him see the world in colors and seeking the choices that had been stripped from him at such a young age. He broke free from the chains of his family, his past, and his regrets to spread a beautiful pair of rose wings, his own wings to fly. And I hope he always flies. I will always love him, and wish nothing but the best for him whatever that be.

Ren Jinguji- the sexy, charming and flirty member of the STARISH boys. The youngest of the Jinguji family, a troubled child who grew up without a mother. A person who possesses many charms and is blessed with the gift of beauty. A red rose he was, beautiful yet his thorns are to be avoided. Beneath his passionate and seductive mannerisms there is a boy that craves genuine affection, from the one he truly adores and cherishes.

Ren Jinguji to me initially was one with a beautiful, attractive deep baritone, who is voiced by none other than the legend- Suwabe Junichi himself. The voice is an accurate fit of how this stereotype of a charming bishie should be, youthful and sensitive, and at times warm and seductive. His portrayal brings out the appeal of the character, the emotions and thoughts a troubled young adult such as the ‘useless third son’ lived through. Many would see him as a romantic one, one who showers those around him with attention and passion. Within however lives a rebellious soul who distrusts many, but still somehow desires that ray of sunshine that brightens his lonely soul.

Ren Jinguji is one that deserves real love, someone who appreciates him for who he is.

SYO KURUSU

Why do I like Syo, huh? Well, there are a lot of reasons! Some of them are more personal ones. First of all, Syo has always been my best boy, since UtaPri (the anime) exists. So ten long years now.

His fashion style is the first thing I noticed and it immediately intrigued me. I remember that my first thought, after seeing him in season one, was “Woah, he looks really cool!” even though Syo was just in his school uniform! I think what also made me interested in him was his energetic persona. The way he looked up to Ryuya Hyuga and wanted to follow in his footsteps was really sweet to me as well. Syo’s enthusiasm and positive attitude actually encouraged me to become stronger in a way too, if I’m being honest. I, personally, have always found his songs motivating and they made me feel better. I really came to love Syo in his episode in season one. When he talked about his childhood and how weak he was, I really felt with him. From that moment on I cheered him on and Syo definitely became my favorite character. My interest never wavered over the next seasons either.

I also have personal reasons why I love him so much. I just feel very connected and relate to him a lot, y’know? We have quite a few things in common. Syo and I have the same eye color, we have both played the violin since we were little, and were born weak and with pretty much the same health and heart issues. I like to say that Syo “saved” me, which is true. There is also the fact that the blonde and I are both on the shorter side (and regularly get teased for it), too! Though, I’m even a little shorter than him.

But to be more positive again, there is just so much more to him than meets the eye at first! Syo is more than just the stereotypical short sporty character. He really cares for his friends and wants the best for them. Syo’s friendship with every STARISH member is different but still close. He’s also protective of the ones around him. Syo really cares about his little twin brother too, which can be seen in the games and the few times he talked about him in the anime. Syo’s big heart easily balances out his, sometimes, tsundere behavior and I love him for that. This blonde idol is just a great guy and deserves all the love he’s getting and more.

Seriously, stan Syo Kurusu, guys!

Syo Kurusu is my favourite idol within the utapri games and any other form of media pertaining to the franchise. He is my favourite idol because of several factors, one of which being that his voice actor is Hiro Shimono, who voices Zenitsu from Demon slayer and Lucifer from “Devil is a part timer”. Syo is a very outgoing character and is talented in many aspects athletically. Born with a heart disease, he continues to persevere throughout the myriads of life’s problems in front of him.

He’s extremely outgoing and is proficient in the martial art of Karate and desires to strengthen his body more than what it is currently. He is best friends with Natsuki and can communicate with each other proficiently. Syo is my favourite character within the franchise because of his resolve, perseverance and great chemistry with Natsuki and his teammates. Hiro Shimono did the character justice by making his voice one of young, adventurous and energetic. With that said, Syo is a character I truly enjoy within the franchise and wish to see more of him.

CECIL AIJIMA

Greetings, princes and princesses, and welcome to a world of princes, questionably talking cats, and magic! I’m of course talking about Cecil Aijima, our foreign prince of UtaPri! So, why do I like Cecil Aijima? It’s borderline ridiculous, but it’s because of Cecil’s birthday. More specifically, Cecil’s Birthday Cruise card. But, I should start at the beginning.

Back when I first watched the anime, I thought Cecil was a little bit of a brat towards literally everyone, and one of my least favorites at the time. After watching through the rest of the anime though, I started to like him a lot more than I did before. To me, he had matured a lot after season 2, and never turned back to that bratty self. And so, when playing SL, he might not have been my favorite, but I didn’t hate him. Then, that one fateful day, I decided to pull in his birthday gacha. To my surprise, I had gotten the card in my first pull! Then the story dragged me into the Cecil Appreciation Group. I thought the story was incredibly cute. Then I got more Cecil cards so I could read more stories. Then the cycle repeated itself again. And now, well, if I’m writing this, I think you know what happened to me afterwards. I’ll be here, doing my best for him.

The boy with childish like demeanor but continues to have a heart of gold for his friends and wonderful composer.

I remember first watching Utapri in middle school and questioning. "Well shit- this is my life now..." and I didn't really have a favorite character at the time. I was always bouncing between characters like Syo, Otoya, even the teachers. However it was season 2 that made me realize who my true favorite was. Despite his at first cocky nature when he was first introduced, Cecil to me was amazing! His singing was magical, his origins even more fascinating. You wouldn't think Utapri would turn that down the magic route but it somehow did.

As the seasons went on, and as I got more into the series, he just became more of a love to me. His kindness and child-like nature and curiosity, he felt different than the other characters.

I love the other characters, yes but him?

Something about him just felt right! He not only seems to be a protector for those he cares about but also feels like he would be the best person to be around. Always wanting to do anything new and exciting just to peak his curiosity and to learn more. Ever since then, he has always been my favorite. The one and only Annapolis Prince, Aijima Cecil.

I saw CLYDE ABRAMS at a coffee shop in BROOKLYN today. I forgot how much HE looks like ROBERT PATTINSON. They are a THIRTY year old PROFESSOR who’s been in NYC for TWO YEARS now. Every time we run into each other, they are always ELOQUENT AND POLITE but I’ve heard people say they can also be CRITICAL AND CALLOUS. Yet another invigorating critique from one of Columbia University’s newest yet highly respected music composition virtuosos: professor Abrams. He’d stand there, towering over fresh-faced novices as he evaluated their talents that he’d slowly but surely sculpt into monumental success. Professor Abram’s passion for music sparks an undying flame and leaves an everlasting impression among anyone knows him or comes to know him. Furthermore, the connection he makes with prose only contributes to his ardent love for the arts. His sessions were never classified as ‘dull lectures’. Instead, he’d demand the students’ attention simply by the charisma he exuded or showcasing various talents with instruments.

BIOGRAPHY:

He was born with so much privilege and fortune built by his father, a well-known director that made movies based off of apocalyptical happenings and splattered brains along the pavement.

He had high expectations placed on him from the moment he was born. It was hardly surprising, considering he was the only child. Clyde was certainly polished to fit into everyone’s expectations.

He was molded to be charming and precocious, yet at the same time, always made to feel there was something lacking, never quite enough to win the praise he craved from his parents.

His dad did not care what his interests were as long as he made sure he was the best at it, out of everyone.

Clyde was never one to delve into the work of his father nor flow in his footsteps. The hectic schedules, constantly moving from house to house, and different nannies drove a wedge between him and his father.

Snippets of his mother still appear in his dreams from time to time; he often wondered why she hadn't taken him with her, why she hadn't embraced him one last time before stepping out of his life for good.

"Your mother fell in love with someone else." His father would say that all the time. The idea of what love really was formed a negative connotation in Clyde's mind.

Due to homeschooling and being surrounded by adults almost all his life, he never managed to fulfill relationships like any of the other teenagers.

Though Clyde can’t necessarily recall his first memory as a baby, what he can recall are his first sounds: lighting crackles and thunder rumbles through the night, wind whistles through the branches of the tree, mixed together in the cool air of the foggy mornings in London.

Clyde uses sound as a means to recreate feelings and moments. His soundly production and memorable melodies captivated a massive audience locally. The classically trained musician... who, as a teen, opted to learn more instruments - he then began incorporating more organic instrumentation unveiling his sound day by day.

He flew through his education, acing tests and schmoozing his way through elite classrooms, to prove himself to be worth it; to prove he is good enough, to carry on the Abrams name.

After graduating from Oxford, promising offers began flooding in; prestigious schools from all over asking Clyde to teach their students the art of music composition. He didn’t care much for salary since he came from old and new money, money was never an issue, so he took the offers that were close to home until he was comfortable enough to live overseas.

Years pass and Clyde’s desire to lead a quiet life grew: simple train rides, traveling to find solace and inspiration, or enjoying a book at a coffee shop. Clyde always found himself drawn to New York City, it had everything he longed for.

Colombia University had offered him a spot to teach what he loved and it was perfect timing to say the least. He had finally moved to the United States in his late twenties and has adjusted well to it.

PERSONALITY:

Clyde was quieter as a child, doing his best to make his parents proud, he never quite caught the same attention as his older sibling, and later, his youngest.

As he transitioned into his teens, he became less enamored and more fearful of his parents. Failure was never an option to them and suffered the consequences if his efforts weren’t perfect.

He possesses a confidence that does not overwhelm nor dominate but is rather soothing. He has a loud presence without having to do much of anything.

He loves to see the world, learn new cultures, try new things. it was his way of an escape from the emptiness that seemed to be growing each day.

i definitely feel like after lilian got out of season 1, she started craving that adrenaline again. she wanted the kind of fire-forged bonds that she could only feel by going through a life-or-death situation. it was sort of like gambling with her life — which, ironically, is exactly what russian roulette is. so when she got the letter from joey, she kept thinking, like, “well, i have nothing to lose but my life,” and she could so easily have stepped away from it all, but she just couldn’t fathom living life as normal after that night.

so she went, and she disguised it as being concerned about joey, for sure, but i think her motives were more trauma-motivated. and i think she realizes what she’s gotten herself into after the first challenge, when lauren doesn’t come back and alex starts screaming and crying. it’s probably then that it starts to really kick in, that she’s using this death game for cheap adrenaline when people’s lives are getting torn apart and that they’re losing real people. and in a way, that’s when she starts fixating on joey as being someone like that for her. someone that it would hurt to lose. and she starts pouring her energy into protecting herself and joey (and alex, actually, since she’s projected onto him as someone who is also grieving). and ironically enough, letting herself be vulnerable with joey is what makes her so much more efficient and cutthroat. since he’s all she cares about, she’s able to easily sacrifice virtually anyone else. and that’s why the betrayal challenge scared her — not because she had to betray someone else, but that it was joey in there with her, and she realized that if one of them had to die, she might have just given up and accepted death for him. and she started to confront the possibility that he might not think about her ever again. and why should he? he hadn’t asked her to come along, and she was the one needlessly putting herself in danger. and i definitely think winter would be really hard for her after that, like, even though she goes through two challenges, she’d be so much more traumatized by that than the dark dimension, because it was the first time she had to truly confront her own death since basically season 1.

and it’s interesting to think that she goes through all of this only for joey to die completely senselessly! she’d definitely have cried when burying him, and i think tyler would have tried to keep in touch with her because he sensed that she really cared about him (or at least that he meant a lot to her). so when she hears from likely safiya or perhaps even manny that joey had invited them to go on a mission, she gets really obsessed with this idea of finding him, because she’s never been able to find someone that she’s lost before. so while her season 2 appearance was more motivated by the trauma-born desire to recreate the moment where she and lele held hands and played russian roulette, her season 3 appearance is more motivated by the trauma-born desire to bring back someone she’s grieving — even if it’s not scarlett or her mother that she’s bringing back.

and i think that’s kind of what makes season 3 so insidious because of the way she starts gravitating towards mat instead of sticking so fiercely to joey. mat has a kind of magnetic charisma and i think at first she was just excited to get under his skin, even if she did respect him enough to bring him back from the dead without a second thought. which, by the way, is so freaking cool of her considering that grief is such a core element of her character and such a big part of why she went on the s3 mission anyway despite not being invited. it definitely endears her to mat so much more because of that almost artificial feeling of closeness that reviving him brings. but then when the two of them went into the funhouse together, that artificial closeness becomes genuine closeness, because she’s again forced to confront death, and mat is there to comfort her as she breaks down. and that alliance they forge when they go through the funhouse really sort of cinches it for her that she wants to survive, and that she wants to do so with joey and mat specifically.

and of course, there’s the final death challenge where she sacrifices herself for mat! it’s her big crowning heroic moment, and i’m sure she was thinking about matt and lele when she pulled the trigger. about how matt couldn’t kill sierra and how lele shot herself in russian roulette. and i’m sure it felt like the most sickening and wonderful and godawful conclusion for her, and that on some level, it just felt so good to not have to do any of this anymore.

but then she woke up and realized that there is something after death, and that she’s being held in purgatory while joey and mat are among the living. she’s especially scared now that her well-kept secret of being part of every game so far has now officially fallen apart, since everyone there knows her as being part of their season. at this point, i don’t think lilian is really attending to anything that’s happening. she’s more on autopilot, and she’s acutely aware that the people she so desperately wants to see (lele, matt, teala) aren’t there with her. she is most scarred by the guardian angel challenge, obviously, since she was part of it and because she remembers joey being upset that she was voted in and of course she remembers mat trying to save her. she’s also finally killed in a challenge and revived, and that’s something that she would cling to.

god there’s just so much to say and i keep thinking about how her trauma Fucking Gets Her and how messed up she’d be post-s4, especially since joey is in pandora’s box and she’s just gotten so attached to the concept of him that she doesn’t know how to exist without him! however i kind of want to believe that she wouldn’t even let him stay back she’d physically drag him out of the portal if she had to — either that, or stay back herself.

Laxus

Fake.

The adjective sneered from the forefront of his mind as he watched the models strutting down the white platform. Heavy makeup accentuated the elegant features of the slender women of all colours, making their cheekbones more defined and their eyes sharper than their original form. Eyeshadows of glittery monochrome shades further decorated their eyes to match their black and white designer clothes.

A smug, seductive look adorned their otherwise beautiful face, tugging an end of their luscious lips upward in a smirk. With their chins held high, they strode down the runaway, every single movement of their limbs expertly coordinated for nothing less than the best catwalk.

Anyone with a functioning pair of eyes could see that those women were gorgeous. His own roamed over the alternating models with slight interest, toying with the idea of tangling limbs with one of them in bed.

The thought didn’t last long.

That beauty of theirs which sent men to their knees and the women to turn green with envy? Most of it were carefully altered with the help of a needle or a knife in their futile quest for an image of perfection.

An image which had never existed anywhere in the universe except in the recesses of their insecurities.

In other words: fake.

Add in the charming attitude of a heaven-sent goddess who was too lofty for mere mortals, and any spark of lust his body felt toward them fizzled out.

Soft cheers erupted from the audience at the entrance of the next model, pulling him from his thoughts. His gaze travelled up the length of the woman’s black gown, appreciating how the sleeveless garment hugged her body and highlighted her curves. A strip of white cloth ran up her left side before its unblemished trail stopped below her armpit. Light blonde tendrils stood out against the black material at her torso, and led him up to the only medically untouched face in the line-up.

With delicate eyebrows of a darker shade of blonde, sparkling cerulean eyes and a button nose, her looks easily exceeded that of her colleagues. And those luscious, scarlet-covered lips...all they had to do was utter a word, and any men would bend a knee and do her bidding.

Mirajane Strauss.

Niece of the notorious Roman Strauss. Next in line to the throne with his only son, Marcus.

The beauty she radiated was unrivalled. Along with her good looks, the charisma she carried set a standard the other women could only aspire to possess.

She was a sight to behold.

But just like all things good and beautiful, inevitably, they wither and die.

Her attractive appearance, too, hid secrets – hers more twisted than her fellow co-workers. He found it unfortunate that underneath that stunning façade, ran the dark and dirty blood of the Strauss family.

Specifically, that of her father’s and her uncle.

Giovanni Strauss, her father, was infamous for being a merciless boss with more than a few screws loose and a twisted obsession with prostitutes. He didn’t hold any personal grudge towards her father; the tyrant was just another in a long list of evil and perverted bosses, his own father among them.

Though he would be lying if he said he didn’t feel some satisfaction to have stolen the last breath from the great Giovanni... His demise, after all, did propel the women one step closer to freedom.

But her uncle, Roman... He clenched his fists at the thought of the middle-aged man. Roman assumed the position as the boss of the Strauss family after his brother’s death and severed their ties with prostitution. Very little goodness existed in this world of theirs – if it even existed anymore at all – but Laxus personally preferred to keep innocent women out of it. Her uncle’s decision was unconventional, to say the least, and he could almost respect him for it.

Except.

Roman Strauss killed his mother.

The only good thing in his life – gone.

The bastard could die a thousand deaths and it still wouldn’t be enough to placate the monster inside who craved revenge.

Because he could torture him until he wished he was dead, kill him in the most gruesome way possible, and one thing would never change.

His mother would never return to him.

Mirajane might had been born innocent – at least, until life forced her hand in a world she never asked to be a part of. But by being a bloodline of Giovanni and Roman Strauss, she was cursed to a life burdened with the sins and debts of her predecessors. The good princess act she played was merely a means to disguise the impurities hiding below the surface.

A demon wearing the clothes of an angel – that was what she was.

She strode with her head held high, but balanced down with enough humility to glance at the audience in a friendly yet alluring manner. When she reached the end of the stage, the corners of her lips lifted up in a rehearsed small smile which somehow managed to appear sincere. Immediately, the dimly-lit attendees reacted to the visual – the men with smitten looks on their faces, the women a varied display of envy, adoration, and awe.

One could easily see why she was crowned the title ‘The Princess of Hearts’ by the media.

She pivoted on her heels, returning to the entrance, and he sucked in a breath when his gaze landed below her hips. Her smooth, creamy leg peaked out at him from the slit of her gown. The fleeting sight of her flesh involuntarily stirred up desires he despised to have for her.

Fucking hell.

In a rebellious act which broke traditional modelling, she glanced back as she walked and smirked. Flashes of light fired in rapid succession, each competing with the other for the best shot of the expression.

Oh yeah, the little demon definitely knew what she was doing. Not only that, she enjoyed every second of it.

He didn’t need to look at their camera’s memory card to know there had been over ten photos taken in those few seconds before she disappeared backstage. Neither did he need to possess supernatural powers to predict that she would grace the front covers of almost every – if not all – of the fashion magazines tomorrow.

The models gathered in a horizontal line at the entrance with the acclaimed fashion designer in the centre once the show was over. Grinning widely, he spoke into the microphone.

“I’d like to thank everyone who kindly graced my humble exhibition with your presence. The theme of this fashion show is ‘Darkness and Light’. People are of the opinion that these two can never exist together – one which I strongly disagree. By incorporating monochrome colours in my clothes, I hope people are able to see that they can co-exist without one extinguishing the beauty of the other.” He winked. “Because we all have a little darkness and light inside us, do we not?”

Thunderous rounds of applause rose from the audience at the end of his speech. His gaze swung from the ecstatic designer back to Mirajane, who seemed to be happy to be standing at the corner of the line.

His eyebrow quirked up. Odd. For someone of her status, he had expected her to dominate the centre.

She beamed a bright smile and waved to someone in the front row – a few people, actually. Roman returned her grin with a fatherly smile as he clapped his meaty hands along with the other attendees. His eyes instinctively sharpened at the sight of his mother’s murderer. Beside him, Marcus smiled proudly while applauding the success of the event.

Many would kill to be the receiving end of that brilliant and genuine smile of hers. Its effects were so widespread that it not only lit up her face, but the entire being of the receiver.

But he wasn’t a man in search for salvation.

He was the man people sought to be salvaged from.

Nobody saw his face knowing his identity unless they were about to meet their end. Never in his long years as a made man did he fail to escort them there personally.

He would see to it himself that the same plea to be spared would fall from her lips.

Make her weep – that’s what he’d do.

After all, what better way to inflict revenge on Roman other than first breaking his beloved niece’s heart?

His lips tilted up in a smirk, his eyes gleaming with a predatory look.

Let the show begin.

Leo/Aquarius - Sister Sign Observations

There’s a lot to learn from sister signs, as your sister embodies all that you need to embrace that you cannot understand without time and effort. This reading is to show the sister signs and how they act in svt, and to give a little insight in how they challenge and help one another.

Leo & Aquarius

leo: seungcheol // aquarius: seokmin, vernon, dino

both signs are social beings.

leo is focused on their community and seeking approval.

aquarius is more focus on humanity in a more abstract sense, and is more concerned with being individual than being liked.

in my opinion both seokmin and vernon both have such different influences that contradict this traditional “aquarius” mindset so in terms of who represents the more generalized stereotypes of these sister signs that’d be between dino and seungcheol

(don’t get me wrong, i def think that vernon and seokmin embody very aquarian traits, but this reading in particular is very dino forward and you’ll see why).

i always think it’s very interesting that, when joking around with who else could be leader, a go-to option tends to be dino.

both signs are natural born leaders.

they both value community and integrity. leo achieves this through passion and determination whereas aquarius achieves it through innovation and wit.

leos are assertive and are great motivators, they enjoy seeing their influence in the group and work hard to meet needs.

leos, however, have an interesting filter their leadership goes through.

it’s hard for a leo to be objective when they’re so hyper sensitive to the things they hear and experience in a group.

they struggle to balance feedback with their own intrinsic confidence and this often times can instill insecurity in a leo as it may feel like there are blind spots they simply cannot account for.

not to mention how deeply they crave approval, so a leo can be easily swayed in this regard.

leos are a complete enigma even to themselves because they value themselves SO MUCH but also never think they’re enough when it comes to other people.

they also really don’t have a strong grasp of their own strength, so if you tell a leo to pull back they may pull back entirely. vice versa, if you tell a leo to do more, you’re probs gonna get 10x what you asked for.

it takes a lot of trial and error with them.

lmao, even they can take themselves off guard by how extra they can be sometimes.

it could be why seungcheol tends to be more self-conscious of his leadership abilities, as he struggles to act without validation and that’s something he can learn from aquarius i.e. dino

(although this exact trait is why he’s so willing to represent and act on behalf of the group because, when he knows his members are behind him, his confidence is endless).

dino as an aqua also makes a great leader because he is a visionary.

he has a very unique view of life/isn’t afraid to pursue alternate paths.

this is his trailblazing attitude. the practice longer, work on choreo longer, film extra videos side of him.

he wont let the restraints of working as a group prevent him from creating more, and this determination often inspires his members by proxy.

not only that, but his aquarius placements certainly play a part in his sassy nature that acts out regardless of the fact he’s the youngest.

unlike seungcheol, he isn’t afraid to act without validation and feels comfortable in circumstances where his group is trusting him to lead them through his vision.

on the other hand, he may struggle in leadership when it comes to developing those personable relationships that inspires that trust — he may not even think to communicate that aspect.

if an aqua comes off as headstrong and presumptuous, it’s probs because they’ve already convinced themselves that they’ve taken the group’s best interest into account.

they may just not be the best at communicating/proving that until the desired end-result has been met and you’re like “oh, that’s what you meant by that”

they both love being around people but have very different approaches.

leos are like the popular kids while aquas are the student council members.

leos are super personable, hands-on, sincere in their day-to-day.

they aren’t afraid of making eye contact and can be very touchy, and this is a huge skill to have when it comes to relationship building as building that physical connection via body language aids building an emotional/professional connection.

their mannerisms and disposition in and of itself is very inviting and reassuring, and this is that subliminal charisma where you’re like “i don’t know what it is about them but i just love being around them”

it’s because they’re so open.

aquas are very charismatic in their own sense as they like being appreciated from a far, and like to be judged on intellectual criteria (leos love hearing all that stuff, too, but they reeaaaaally love being told they’re hot, too).

they are less handsy, more mentally active and can have a “take it or leave it” attitude.

if they’re going to connect with you, it’s going to be verbally and through common interests/discussion if that makes sense.

this is def less inviting than that leo energy that REALLY WANTS YOU TO LIKE THEM.

but at the same time they can be calming because you don’t get the sense they’re expecting any specific reaction from you, and are really adept at keeping your attention and keeping you entertained.

leos are associated as being leaders because they’re charismatic and demand attention.

they can have people hooked from the get-go and people instantly trust their competence, but they may not think as objectively as they should and have a habit of acting out of passion.

where as an aquarius simply wont allow that to be the case for them.

they will insist on talking through their plans and their credentials, and sometimes this isn’t as convincing as leo’s in-your-face confidence.

at the same time a leo’s personality can only take them so far if they don’t have those said credentials.

with that being said, an aqua’s message and the passion they have for their visions/interests are so compelling in and of themselves that people want to follow them just to see what they’ll do.

but that’s the gist.

sister signs are super interesting because, as I said before, they have such similar values but such different perspectives.

a leo is born with a first person perspective and learns about themselves through feedback, friction, cause & effect etc. etc. they have a “knock it over and see how it breaks” attitude about life.

where as an aquarius is born with a third person perspective, and learns about themselves by looking at the world’s landscape and picking and choosing where they belong/want to be. compared to leo’s “lets see what happens” attitude, they conceptualize and then execute.

but at the end of the day, both their worlds and their paths are centered around people and community.

and so this is where these two signs can meet and agree, so long as they learn to respect each other’s approach/perspective.

[Hazbin Hotel Meta] Hazbin MBTIs~! Get your fresh Hazbin Hotel MBTIs here~!

I feel pretty…happy and confident about these ;w; I tried to use best judgement, the canonical info we have so far (even if a bit vague, gotta take what we can get!), and took into consideration like…that I’m really trying to be as realistic as possible. I really enjoy keeping to canon and building off realistic expressions of the characters even with a lot of the interactions between them being so bombastic or humorous. This is how I like to go about my writing for them too :)

Alastor: ESTP - Extroverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving

Al is driven and motivated (on a base level, from what it seems) by pure stimulus. Regarding stimuli in his environment, he’s not looking to gain any philosophical or emotional insight, development or further connection to others from it; he wants to enjoy the experience in and of itself, even more so with the ability to manipulate it or those involved. Alastor wants action, entertainment, and the ability to make decisions, watch others make decisions, and watch the pieces fall where they may (long as that doesn’t lead to actual stability, peace or resolution). He enjoys engaging with others on his own terms/working a room, shaking things up and not just thinking about ‘what ifs?’, but actively creating those situations. He doesn’t want to be restricted, controlled or bored. ESTPs can tend to be impatient, self-important and prideful, have a habit of turning their noses up at others, and can be selfish. All these things definitely pertain or easily could pertain to Al.

Angel (and Cherri): ESFP - Extroverted, Sensing, Feeling, Perceiving

Angel and Cherri revel in dramatics and energy! They are bright, relatively warm (given…where they are, lol), sociable and like to have the spotlight on them. They take pleasure in the things around them and engaging with their surroundings. They’re enthusiastic, loud, active and want to be seen and heard. Real lives of the party that are generally supportive of their friends and unafraid to speak their minds. All this taken into account, some downfalls of their personalities are that they can react aggressively towards critique or inquiry, get bored easier than (most) other types and are easily distracted. Their empathy can also come off as superficial or insincere because of their playful, non-serious attitudes (remember, we even got to see Angel struggle with empathy and support when he was attempting to console Charlie).

Charlie: ENFJ - Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Judging

Charlie is the definition of an ENFJ. She is a benevolent idealist who wants to see the best in people, and honestly believes in the best in people (as we see with her dream/goal for the Happy Hazbin Hotel. She wants to inspire and be inspired. Her type is actually pretty intrinsic to the plot at large). Charlie is unbelievably selfless; her motivations and what she wishes to contribute to those and the world around her are for their betterment. She is infatuated with the thought of things but needs the assistance in executing those thoughts and dreams into reality. Weaknesses that accompany this type and definitely Charlie herself are: not thinking things through, stubbornness/lack of flexibility (particularly for themselves), and being prone to burning themselves out. From the onset of the pilot all the way until the end she’s pushing herself, having difficulty really taking advice/direction and isn’t willing to see beyond her own scope of things.

Husk: ISTP - Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Perceiving

Coming up with a likely MBTI for Husk was an enjoyable challenge! It definitely put my critical interpreting to the test and also helped me more critically assess the MBTIs for the other characters (though most of those wrote themselves/were much more apparent imo).

Husk is an avid gambler and alcoholic drinker, and these two things guided me in understanding his type. He appreciates tactile interaction and socialization on his own terms (as is required by most gambling), easily comes to decisions/conclusions from changes/information in his environment and is sensitive, for better or worse, to stimuli in his environment as many SPs are, and likely craves it actively or on a base level. Husk seems to be quietly dependable and competent/effective based off of Alastor’s (albeit humorously manipulative) words to him, which is a hallmark for ISTPs. He’s operationally a loner, but not misanthropic, just reserved/internalized unless caused to act. Some obvious issues that can arise with this MBTI and clearly would apply to Husk are: being distant or closed off, potentially risky or self-destructive behavior (yuuup~), and lacking compassion or emotional sensitivity.

Sir Pentious: ENTJ - Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging

Pentious is goal-oriented (as are most other NJs), rational, intelligent and clever (despite his loud personality and Saturday morning villain aesthetic lol). He desires order and values exacting organized, calculated plans. He’s rather assertive and craves a high degree of control in his surroundings (I mean he’s a mechanical mastermind hellbent on ruling Hell and attaining more recognition and influence, after all). Being an EN type, he has a natural charisma, and much like many charismatic types, he wants to be noticed and valued. ENTJs have a tendency to desire legacy and recognition for their accomplishments since they are born leaders who enjoy setting all the dominoes in place, this is no truer than for Sir Pen. If he is to set up a lengthy, complex far-reaching plan to exact his visions, he wants to be noted, and noted well for that. Weaknesses that tend to hinder ENTJs are being overly confident and condescending, bossy, inflexible and prone to outbursts/meltdowns. If that’s not our snek idk what is tbh.

Vaggie: ISTJ - Introverted, Sensing, Thinking, Judging

Vaggie is logical (if fiery; which should not be confused for Feeling), perceptive (which should not be confused for Perceiving), reliable, detail-oriented and hard-working. She is incredibly dedicated and forward with her intents and expects no nonsense. ISTJs like to keep a keen eye on those in their surroundings and expect those around them to abide by the standards they set as they truly do value the tasks at hand and the well-being of those around them/those they’re in charge of or aiding. If we look at her interactions with Angel in the limo, and Alastor back at the hotel, it is super clear that she is protective personally and professionally of those under her care but also the hotel/Charlie’s endeavors. ISTJs aren’t typically noted as being the guardians and protectors, and that’s usually because others are only viewing those roles from a purely emotional standpoint. Though ISTJs still have feelings like any other human-being, they approach protecting and guarding as a matter of duty first and foremost (that they wouldn’t undertake if they didn’t care in the first place). Very Vaggie. Weaknesses that can befall people of this MBTI are: being stuck in their ways/stubborn, brash and indelicate, and being unable to compromise for/with others.

I hope I did justice to these wonderful characters and helped extrapolate on them some more! — BACKSTORY

elizabeth was born the parents who never wanted to be parents -- a marriage forced together by her brother’s arrival and only felt like a tightening noose with her own arrival. the children forced them to remain together despite all desires to be elsewhere.

still, little lizzie tried to love them all. she clung to any scrap of attention and affection that she could get which was. . . barely any at all. her parents’ coldness and neglect were a completely terrible fit for a little girl who cried at the thought of a classmate eating alone. in a normal world, elizabeth’s soft kindness would have been protected but around her family, it was needlessly mocked.

she ran away to novels and the glossy pages of magazines, admiring the wily protagonists and beautiful models who seemed to live the life she so desired. elizabeth vowed that one day, she would be one of them.

while her home life was a mess, she thrived everywhere else. she had such a beautifully appealing soul that made it easy for her to make friends. her teachers adored her. as she got older, elizabeth held on to that attention as if that could be a salve for what her family lacked.

at sixteen, she fell in love. . . just like the story was meant to go. his name was mason and he was older, rich, and beautiful. he walked off the page of the romantic novels that elizabeth used to escape to. but the truth was that his charming front was simply a facade for what lied underneath. mason was impossibly cruel, possessive as hell, and very easily began to ween her off of everyone that wasn’t him.

still, she loved him. he provided a sense of protection and stability ( no matter how sick ) that she craved for her entire life. elizabeth started spending less time at school and more time with mason. since she was still a minor, her parents were notified of her dwindling grades and attendance. they gave her an ultimatum: get her act together or risk going down this path alone. elizabeth, so blinded with love, of course chose mason. her parents kicked her out shortly before her high school graduation.

the next step was always meant to be college but over the years, mason had convinced elizabeth to instead stay in town with him. the cruelty escalated to physical violence and she began to fear for her life. but she didn’t feel like she had anyone to call. after all, mason had convinced her that she didn’t need anyone but him. no family, no friends, no alliances. it was just her and the man she was beginning to realize was more of a monster.

one particularly brutal altercation with mason led a sobbing and bloodied elizabeth to her parents’ doorstep, begging for a safe haven. her heart completely shattered that day when her parents numbly told her that they did not have a daughter and refused to let her inside.

she knew she had to run away, but each failed attempt she made only forced mason to tighten the reins. he began to hinder her communication to the outside world and had a tight grasp on her finances. for months, elizabeth crafted a plan to slip away one night when mason was asleep. it involved lightly drugging him, avoiding all the cameras in his house, stealing money, and finding a means of transportation to get as far away from town as possible. it was only when she was about three hours out of town on a raggedy bus that she began to breathe easily again.

thus at twenty, elizabeth’s life began anew. she headed to the closest us embassy and used the last bit of mason’s stolen cash to legally form her new identity: roxanne hartman. with her new identification burning in her pockets, she headed to the local corner store to shoplift some blonde hair dye to complete the new facade. it was almost as if elizabeth connelly had never existed.

of course, the money didn’t last her for long. roxy was fully aware that she would need to find some source of income to maintain a semi-normal lifestyle and a cold bed in the local motel. she worked low-paying oddball jobs until one day, she noticed the most glamorous woman waltzing through town. roxy eyed her designer bag and her easy confidence and decided to follow her all the way to the local strip club. businessmen and wealthy clients alike showered the mysterious woman with attention from the moment she walked in and the young girl knew that this was it: this was her way to be the protagonist.

she auditioned to be a dancer at the club and was welcomed to this new community with open arms. but it didn’t take long for her to realize that any semblance of luxury and adoration wasn’t just handed to anyone. it had to be earned. so, roxy worked diligently to try to climb the ranks. she obsessed over youtube tutorials. she watched the older women in the dressing room, imitating how they talked and walked. she snuck into dance and exercise classes at the local recreation center to keep up her rhythm and stamina. and most importantly, roxy had an eye for style. she began to design costume ideas to provide to the designer in hopes of having them seen on stage. her boss began to take notice and started giving her more solo time on the center stage.

things were finally starting to look up. and then of course, mason found her. panicked, roxy packed her necessities and her savings and skipped town, tearfully mourning the loss of community on the train ride away from her new home. she didn’t have much of a pan other than to gain as much space between her and her past. at the train station, she simply closed her eyes and picked a city to head off to -- athens.

thankfully, the kind of occupation that roxy found herself in meant that she could always find a job. granted, she had to start over yet again at a new club but her level of charisma and dedication appealed to all who knew her. it wasn’t long before she was in the top ranks, the highest she had ever been, offering herself as a sort of protector for the other girls in the club despite her relatively young age.

it was there that she eventually met cora, someone that roxy grew to adore quite quickly. how could she not when the young redhead was like the sun herself ? immediately, roxy accepted a role as a big sister and though she refuses to claim favoritism with the younger girls, it’s very clear that cora is at the top of the list. it is also thanks to cora that roxy heard more about riverbank university.

going to college had always been something that interested her, but of course wasn’t much of an option. diligently, she began to work away on the application. unfortunately, despite having a high school degree, her last-minute dwindling grades and the distance between her graduation and now admission to college worked against roxy’s favor. she was rejected as a full time student but managed to be accepted as a part-time one with little to no financial aid. she began taking on extra shifts and batting her eyes at her regulars to help supplement the rest.

roxy’s incredibly theatrical and adoring facade covers up an unbelievable sadness and fear that things will not always end well. though she seems like she has laid down roots here in athens, she’s constantly looking over her shoulder as if waiting for the other shoe to drop and wondering if she is resigned to live no meaningful life at all due to the choices she made in the past.
