Might be a can of worms, but I do think since the mythical era shourtney have definitely been mindful to play themselves and their relationship (whatever you think it is) down. Probs to highlight new cast/new relationships which they are so right for! It makes me bummed sometimes tho because they ARE so amazing together!! the 1, 2, switch video with them and ianthony is so funny and both of them are so silly and giggly, especially court!! And they show time and time again that they are real friends who spend a significant amount of time together outside of work and I don’t think you’d pick up on that if you were just a causal viewer.

All this to say, I don’t envy either of them !! Definitely the two members of the cast who have most felt the brunt of shippers ire and learned their lessons. But I’ll always love them as a duo 💞💞 mother (Shayne) and father (Courtney) of modern smosh if u ask me

i have big opinions about shourtney so probably this will be quite long

i agree that the shourtney content has definitely toned down since circa 2021 onwards? now if this has to do with their own personal relationship or to do with focusing on other cast too, im not sure.

however, i do believe that IF they are together irl (i dont want to state that they are for sure, bcos as much "evidence" as ive seen, i dont want to say theyre together until they confirm it themselves) anyway, if they ARE together, the decline of shourt being milked for content would make sense. they've both said theyre private people, and they likely wouldn't want their actual personal relationship to be used as content 24/7

now as for my personal opinions on shourt, i will say again that if they weren't so actively forced down our throats in 2018/19/20, they would a much more tolerable ship. so many fans, casual viewers or not, were overly shippy and downright invasive with them.

i used to be a bit more against the ship, because i saw it as kind of boring and just like "oh lets stick the two blonde conventionally attractive white man and woman together" and in 2019 when i got into the fandom, almost every comment, video and thumbnail was prominently shourt based.

as time has gone on and the ship has been put on a back burner in content, ive actually grown to enjoy it. you can really see how much they care for each other, romantically or not, and they truly have been there for each other for so many years now.

tldr: nowadays, to me Shourt is an A class dynamic, ruined by an abundance of comments over them and smosh themselves milking their dynamic for content

on a realer note i do think people forget that a huge part of the destiel equation is that cas won’t stay. like yeah we focus a lot on the fact that dean won’t ask him to, but cas never sticking around is a huge factor there

Thinking about season 3 and how a large part of the Roy and Keeley break up was that Roy didn’t see how he fit in Keeley’s life anymore and he didn’t want to hold her back and get in the way of her career and aspirations

And thinking about how a big part of season 3 was Keeley moving on with Jack at the same time as we were seeing Roy figuring out what to do with his single person time by volunteering to help Jamie get even better and reach his career aspirations…

Also thinking about season 1 and how Jamie was portrayed as a big man baby who couldn’t do anything by himself and constantly needed Keeley around and to do things for him by the way Keeley made his appointments for him and picked him up and went with him and how he brought a backup date and was sleeping with someone else right after the break up with the whole what was I supposed to do shower alone thing

And about how in season 2 the issue we saw with Roy and Keeley was Roy enjoying spending every minute together and doing everything together while Keeley felt smothered by his constant presence

And in season 3 how Keeley’s two exes that were too codependent on her became codependent on each other and spent more time with each other than anyone else without there ever being a plot line or even throw away comment about them being sick of each other from spending so much time together (and instead even after they got in a literal fight and spent the entire night together it’s hey are you hungry let’s go get something to eat together)

sam and cas are so... they're like brothers-in-law that are always slightly awkward bc their relationship only exists bc of a different person. and the first few seasons getting to know each other they keep getting pissed off if they exchange more than a few words ("he's an abomination", "i'll hunt you down and kill you", etc) but there's still somehow an inherent admiration there (bc that's Dean's Brother/that's An Angel). and eventually they do become some sort of actual friends. bc along with everything else. they realized that they can be bitchy to each other without toning it down and enable each other's most insane ideas.

compared to sam+dean and cas+dean's relationships, sam+cas are remarkably unaffected by everything that happens. they might have seasons long fights or plots with dean, but with each other they're always just kinda chill. like, yeah, course he's always gonna be there. we're friends and i don't actually like him that much but he is my 2nd closest family member in the world. he can be super annoying but i'd die for him in a heartbeat :)

i think a lot about john and ian and their strange, implicit estrangement. it is never explicitly addressed but it is there. blunt going out of his way to say that ian was a good agent but john was a better one. alex always being compared to john despite ian being the man who raised him. ian never telling alex anything about his parents. john never sparing a thought for ian in the snakehead coda. ash being chosen to be the best man at john's wedding and alex's godfather instead of ian. ian being recruited to mi6 straight out of university while john went military and none of it mattering in the end because it was still john who was chosen for the scorpia mission, john who died the hero, john who got blown up and martyred while ian's own death barely registered. you're twentysomething years old and your older brother has just been murdered after being better than you at the one thing you are defined by and you will spend fourteen years raising his son, and none of it will matter. here's a question: why does ian hate being called 'uncle' so much? here's another: can you still be an uncle without a brother?

Since some of you enjoyed my Uncle Thorin headcanons, I thought I'd share some for Dwalin.

Dwalin headcanons nobody can dissuade me from, part 1:

he's a big old softie

Thorin might be his king, but he is also his best friend, and so Dwalin sees it as his duty to mock him relentlessly on a regular basis

they bicker like an old married couple

Fíli and Kíli might not normally call him uncle, but he is their uncle in every way

the main reason for his hair loss is probably the fact that Kíli more or less spent his childhood sitting on Dwalin's shoulders and holding onto his mohawk

to this day whenever Fíli looks at him with big blue eyes and calls him Uncle Dwalin, while Kíli stands next to him with a wobbly chin, he has a hard time saying no

he snores even worse than Thorin. Sometimes he startles himself awake by it

he's a crier

he might appear to be all taciturn and grumpy, but he is actually a great conversationalist and very good at giving advice

he acts like he dislikes gossip, but his ears are wide open and mentally he clutches his pearls

whenever he is worried, he goes to his big brother to talk about it

instead of singing, he shouts

during the quest he is scared of accidentally stepping on Bilbo

he likes to stare menacingly at people he doesn't like

unfortunately he also stares menacingly at people he does like. That's why he is still single

he lost part of his ear in a freak sex accident

he polishes his bald head every morning

every winter he wears a woollen hat with earflaps and a bobble Balin made for him. Nobody dares to laugh at him

he's a cuddler

he gives great hugs

he and Balin live together

whenever they have a mouse in their home, Balin has to shoo it out, while Dwalin stands on a chair armed with one of his axes

Balin pinches his cheek and tweaks his nose on a regular basis and calls him baby brother. Dwalin acts like he hates it, but he doesn't

he sighs a lot, especially when Thorin (or Kíli) pulls another one of his stupid stunts

he's a sore loser

he might have a weird crush on Nori

he might also have a weird crush on Bofur

he is very confused about it himself and continues to stare menacingly and stay single
