It's interesting that Harry picked a woman who has a reputation for PR stunts. No one believed her relationship with Pete Davidson, it was mocked by the gp... and people are mocking the kiss on twitter and calling Harry a bad kisser, some even questioning his sexuality. Even with that, I don't see how he can ever CO as gay. By the time he is 40 he's going to have an enormous list of beards, there's just no way. It'll have to be queer/bi or not at all. It wouldn't surprise me if he never CO.
I also find it very interesting anon. She's someone who isn't necessarily believed about her relationships and has featured heavily in gossip circles these last few month.
It's one of the reasons that I think it's too soon to get into questions of what this means and what effect it'll have (or what purpose it has). I feel like by the time Harry starts touring again, we should have a better sense of what's going on.

Background Noise in 7 Days Before Valentine
7 Days Before Valentine is giving me The Luminous Solution vibes, and that is not a good thing, but visually? It's serving!
Tumblr media
The color coding already told us that our protagonist, Sunshine, is the devil (read: he sucks).
Tumblr media
He was filming an ad for a fragrance called Devil with a K-pop idol named Jeff (no comment), and he was playing Mephistopheles, a devil who sold his soul for power.
Tumblr media
When he left the studio, he exited out of a red door (hell).
Tumblr media
He noticed a girl falling (or even pushed her) but focused on texting instead, and ended his message with a devil emoji. 😈
Tumblr media
And the scene ended with the girl on the floor as he walked away.
Tumblr media
It started to rain as Sunshine's boyfriend, Rain, waited for him.
Tumblr media
When Sunshine entered the shop, all the umbrellas were black.
Tumblr media
But when he exited, all of the umbrellas were red and the shot was slightly tilted.
Tumblr media
In the shop, the owner warned him that he was being careless about love and not putting the time and effort into it, which Sunshine dismissed. The owner finally gave him a flower that was "big enough to stand the Rain."
Tumblr media
And the assistant emphasized that the flower, which he named "Marie" (like the mother of all good guys?), loves "Rain" before the owner told Sunshine that "Flowers get you high, but liquor makes you see the truth."
Tumblr media
Sunshine showed up to the restaurant in his red jacket with the devil horns on and offered Rain the flower and some of the perfume, but Rain is allergic to it. Sunshine told Rain he bought them tickets to Japan so they could celebrate in the snow. (When hell freezes over, I guess?)
Tumblr media
Therefore, Rain understandably broke up with Sunshine at a place called "The End of the Road"
Tumblr media
Rain told Sunshine that he is condescending, immature, and selfish, and left him for a college student named Air (like a breath of fresh air)
Tumblr media
Rain owns a cafe called Rainmaker, and all of his employees are in love with him. *cue early 2000s rap song about making it rain*
Tumblr media
This is that Luminous Solution vibe. If you know, you know, and if you don't, be thankful.
Tumblr media
Sunshine returned to the shop where the owner yelled at him about balance, and told him that two opposites can exist with compromise, like Sun and Rain. Sunshine was not pleased.
Tumblr media
And this sign doesn't make sense to me.
Tumblr media
Sunshine put on the horns again, and we got several shots like this as if the devil was approaching because of it.
Tumblr media
When Sunshine entered his apartment, he was the center of the universe.
Tumblr media
He admired himself with the horns.
Tumblr media
But once he took them off, he began to yell. Each time he had the horns on this episode, he was more comfortable and calm. He shouted that he would not accept his fate.
Tumblr media
And that's when the Grim Reaper appeared. He stated he was between good and bad, here and there, the past and the future, but he showed up in white and the cool light, called himself a Cupid Reaper, and told Sun to call him Q.
Tumblr media
As he moved through Sun's apartment, the lighting became warmer, and he stopped between the red lamp and the sunshine-like clock.
Tumblr media
The actors on the TV are the shop owner and assistant.
Tumblr media
And the owner did a gesture to show Sun it was real at the exact time Q told Sun it was real. Then, the TV immediately cut off.
Tumblr media
Sun's entire apartment is a battle between reality and an allusion, good and evil, the dark and the light, the right and the wrong choice with Q standing in the middle. He offered Sun a choice, but told Sun to really think about it, logically.
Tumblr media
Yet Sun chose to go out into the darkness to make his decision.
Tumblr media
And he chose power.
Tumblr media
He is Mephistopheles, the devil who sold his soul for power.

I’m just curious now: was he not invited to the met or was he invited and just decided not to attend because he wouldn’t be comfortable or something? Like he has the deal with Dior and Tiffany, both brands that were part of the Met (with Dua and Pattinson for example), and he also has done some work with vogue recently so I wouldn’t imagine why they (the people in charge of the guest list) wouldn’t want him there. Without mentioning he is part of the most famous musical group/act of the moment. Not mad that he didn’t go just curious I guess.
Anon, have you ever heard or read about Anna Wintour and how she handles everything about the Met Gala? I can't give you a concrete answer because I don't work for BigHit or Jimin and well, you probably don't expect a concrete answer, but I'm going to give you several possibilities.
If you read a little about who Anna Wintour is, you'll know that she won't care about all the things you mentioned, if she doesn't want to. It doesn't matter if Dior or Tiffany bought a table for the event, they have to tell Anna who will sit at that table and if she doesn't want someone there, they won't be there. It doesn't matter who it is. Of course, it's easy to assume that she wouldn't say no to Jimin, even tiktok influencers have been invited! Obviously, she wouldn't say no to Jimin, one of the members of the most important music group in recent times. This brings me to another theory.
Although Jimin is the ambassador for Dior and Tiffany, that doesn't mean he has to be at every fashion-related event where one of those two brands will attend or participate in any way. We don't know what kind of contracts they sign with those brands, but one thing we can be sure of is that it's not one of exclusivity. We have seen Jimin wearing brands other than Dior and Tiffany after it was announced that he would be working with them. Jimin travelled to the USA wearing a T-shirt designed by the vice president of CK, for example. Jimin travelled wearing Tiffany pieces, he travelled mainly for something related to the brand and he did it, we don't know what else he has been doing in New York, but I think we can conclude that the Met Gala was never on his agenda, the reason obviously we don't know.
Another possibility or explanation I can think of is that bts is an exclusive brand and part of its exclusivity is because it is rare. BTS has never been known for attending absolutely everything, that's why when they or some of them go to a public event, it's a novelty. Their exclusivity means that people have to yearn, to dream of seeing them somewhere, not take it for granted that they will be there. It's something that happens with Beyoncé, for example, she doesn't attend all the events that other celebrities do and when she does it's a novelty. Everything stops because Beyoncé came. Everyone was speculating that she was going to the Met and she didn't. Something like that happens with bts. If you remember even in Korea it's not expected of bts or one of their members to attend anything. Whether it's a variety show or a movie premiere and when they do it's big news. That's because bts didn't participate in everything, didn't accept invitations to everything and therefore gained a reputation for exclusivity. A reputation that over time has become more valuable.
Many might say that the Met Gala is an important event, and it is, but that doesn't mean anything when you're on the level of Beyoncé and Jimin.
Something to also keep in mind is that it was never confirmed that Jimin would attend the Met Gala. The rumour started on social media. Many fans longed for him to attend that event and others believed those Twitter accounts that swear they have information on the boys' next moves. Some publications later mentioned his name because that was rumoured on social media. Because he's in New York and it made sense to think he would attend, but those posts also said Beyoncé would be there, Lady Gaga would be there, Blake Lively would be there and all of that turned out to be false.

Hi RBS, I hope you are well 🙏💛
First I want to thank you. Your blog and your answers have been a grounding source of perspective in times of both happiness as well as the harder, confusing ones, I can’t tell you how grateful I am to you… 🙏
My ask is related to some mutterings I’ve seen on Weibo, and it got me thinking. Some are wondering if what happened this week is gonna lead to the closing of the SP, if 🐢 are seeing as being still too “present” or like a risk.
If that day will come, what do you think will happen? Will 🐢 still be allowed to show support for them as a couple? Or will that be a sign that the fandom can’t exist in the open anymore?
There’s no question in my mind that I will continue to support them, both individually as well as a couple. But I’m wondering if we’ll still be able to do so “openly” (or as openly as 🐢can, mindful of protecting them) or if that will mean that bjyxszd talks won’t be “allowed” anymore.
Sorry for the bleak ask, but while staying positive I can’t help but try to brace myself and wondering so as to be more prepared, in a way.
Thank you again for your kindness and all your precious insights 🙏💛
Hi Anon, I'm doing OK. I hope you're well too! 😊
Thanks for your kind words, I'm glad you're finding my blog helpful in any way.
Standard disclaimer: Everything I say is a reflection of my own understanding of things, my own values and ideas and opinions. There are precious few verified facts available here, so we can never know for sure what the real truth is. Therefore, don’t take what I say as fact. It’s just my opinion, some musings, and a bit of CPN. Totally fake, of course.
It's true that there are a lot of turtles on Weibo and in the international fandom wondering what's next, and wondering if the changes over the past few days are only the beginning of the end. My inbox has been flooded with such questions over the past few days.
Obviously I don't know. No one knows for sure what's going to happen. We are in uncharted waters right now. Are these changes just DD's team trying to appease solos without breaking the CP, or are they the thin end of the wedge? I'd be lying if I said I had the answer to that question.
I suspect some of that will depend on whether these changes are sufficient to calm things down. If the solos refuse to be appeased and if BXG take the place of the solos in attacking DD's team and making demands, then it's possible his team will have to take more and bigger steps to bring things into line. And since solos represent DD's traffic in the eyes of most people, those steps would be unlikely to benefit turtles.
Turtles will also need to be careful. The more extreme and the more public these conflicts become, the more difficult they'll be to ignore, and the more pressure GG and DD will both be under to 'do something' about turtles. If they're forced to choose between their careers and turtles, the choice is obvious. If they're forced to choose between their careers and the supertopic remaining open, the choice is obvious.
But I think it's highly unlikely to come to that. BJYX has existed for 5 years, and there have been conflicts and struggles in the past, including - lest we forget - 2/27. If they didn't close the supertopic then, I think it's highly unlikely that they'd do it now.
Let's remember that the supertopic is just a fan forum. It's like a big Facebook group. It's a place where fans get together and talk about GG and DD. And it's probably the most disciplined and well-managed GGDD fan group in the C-fandom. There are strict rules and the forum is monitored and moderated by volunteer admins. They do a pretty decent job of maintaining order in the fandom.
There are celebrity CP supertopics that have lasted for years, from even before BJYX came along. In most cases there is no reason to shut down a CP supertopic. They're harmless.
Like I said, it's going to come down to how C-turtles handle themselves. If they behave poorly they might force GG and DD's hand. Only time will tell.
As for what we should do if things go sideways, there's no use in trying to cross a bridge that doesn't even exist yet. It's a pointless exercise. Everything would depend on the circumstances. There's no point in speculating that far ahead about something that will likely not come to pass.
Future us will know what to do, because we'll have the information about what's going on at that time to help guide our choices.
And I fervently, passionately urge everyone to STAY CALM, and not go all doom and gloom about things. As I'm fond of saying when people close to me are catastrophizing:
We don't know what's going to happen in the future. We choose what to believe will happen. In doing so, why would we choose something that upsets us and makes our present experience painful? We should choose to believe things that give us strength and hope.
So I encourage everyone to ponder this, and to be conscientious about what you choose to tell yourself about what the future might hold. The future hasn't happened yet. All daydreaming about the future is just speculation, and we can choose to control what those speculations are.
More than anything, I think it's SO IMPORTANT to remember why we're here. We are here to love and support GG and DD. Let's try to focus on them and their projects, rather than get mired in a bunch of handwringing over things we can't control.
Can we please try to remember them, focus on them and support them? They're so precious!!
Tumblr media
Most of all, let's not take our anger and pain out on DD and YBO. We are supporters, not antis. As I said in my previous post, it's possible that DD and YBO are working together to try to keep turtles and solos both happy. DD by giving candy, YBO by giving DD cover for the solos. Let's not assume they're the enemy. They're DD's team. We need to give them the benefit of the doubt.
One of the supertopic admins put it really well:
When the sailors on the boat encountered a storm, some chose to go forward bravely to break through the storm, while some chose to stop and wait for the storm to end. Before the storm subsides, no one can be 100% sure whose method is right. However, it is definitely not advisable to break the hull to let the seawater flood in, and turn the bow of the ship away from the set target. Xiaotuan hopes that everyone can pick up their senses no matter what the situation is, and pay attention to the scale of speaking in public. Any remarks that insult and coerce Boxiao himself are not advisable. Don't slander people you care about for various reasons. The future is long, and I wish you all a happy star chasing.
My previous posts relating to these issues:
Main background post
Are turtles misreading what LRLG meant by their post?
Did DD choose these changes?
YBO and the photoshopped images
The removal of CQL from DD's bio
I hope we can all return to focusing on GG and DD. I'm not likely to post about these controversies again until/unless something new comes up or anything changes.

Australian King Parrot Prophecy And Symbolism
The Following Channel is from higher powers, Divine, the ancestral plane and is prophetic through Quornesha S. Lemon|
Whether the Australian King Parrot appears in dreams, visions, waking life or synchronicities, it is a sign and message that giants are about to fall. This will be in relation to a variety of areas in your life. You can expect miracles, blessings, joy and things coming together in just the right way. All things are possible now and all roads are opening. Things will begin to be reinstated, released, reconsidered, reversed, and revived. You will begin to see a miraculous turn around in situations that were allegedly dead. This can be in your finances, relationships, home life, a passion you may have or even in your health.
The Australian King Parrot is a sign that you are headed in the right direction(s) and whatever or whoever you need along your journey will come to you. You will find yourself praying and a solution will come. Asking and wishing for something and it will manifest. Things are turning around for you indeed. You will find yourself receiving the recognition you deserve. You will make a difference in the community you deserve. You’re in a good space within your life right now and no one will be allowed to disrupt it. Divine is the coauthor of your story, and no one else can write it for you. You have been doing a great job with standing up for yourself in the spirit and naturally.
Your discernment is very strong and your truth is emerging. The table of adversity is changing, what/who laughed at you will now grieve. What celebrated your fears/failures will now see you succeed. You are being released from decades old curses, generationally speaking and as of late. You may have gifts such as intercession, exorcism, healing, seeing/sensing/sight, and the like. Some very “powerful people” are about to fall. Over the coming days, weeks and months you will find yourself showing your powers in a dream. Miracles are about to take place to you and for you. Everything you need, will arrive, in its perfect place. New is entering your life, and your business/career will succeed. Success is guaranteed to you now, but you’ve got to stay the course, and not give in to any distractions.
You are on the path to wealth and healing. You can see through people, and the realm of spirit is becoming very transparent to you. Angels and the lesser are becoming very prevalent to you, if not now, soon. Your sight is beyond the physical. Ancestry is very important, as this dictates health, psychological as well as the gifts and talents. You can always heal and tap into your own lineage. Whatever you’re doing right now, business wise, it’s going to be big. And it’s YOUR turn. The Australian King Parrot is symbolic of using your voice, your authority, and gifts. It is also a message that your feet will touch foreign lands, and that you will be in rooms where you will influence and pivot the energy as you enter.
This message isn't, obviously resonant with all whose paths it crosses, as perhaps you may encounter someone of this vernacular, mastery or skill. Therefore, it is a sign from the universe that you're meant to work with such a person.
Need further clarity or your own queries answered? Book your own reading as my schedule is full and I do not guarantee a reply on social media regarding this post.

However, if you aren't able to invoke, heal or otherwise on your own, call on the assistance of shamans, healers, intuitive people, etc. to assist you. This synchronicity can possibly have specific meanings for you, it's time to get insight.

How Significant Is Due Diligence In The Purchase Of A Business?
In the business world, due diligence is a detailed examination of a company's financial records, operations, and other key aspects of its business. It's used as part of the Buying A Business in NZ process to ensure that nothing is overlooked before signing on the dotted line.
Due diligence may sound like something you'd expect from your doctor or lawyer – but it's actually crucial for any major deal involving money. Even if you're an experienced entrepreneur who knows what to look for in a new acquisition target, it's still important to have an independent third party involved in the process.
This way you can be sure that your investment will pay off in both the short term (by saving money) and the long term (by protecting assets).
Due Diligence
Due diligence is a process that buyers use to get the full picture of a business before buying it. It involves looking at the company's financial records, operations, and other aspects of its business. Conducting due diligence helps you identify any issues that may be affecting your purchase as well as uncover any hidden assets or liabilities.
Tumblr media
It's important to do due diligence because it gives you a better understanding of whether or not the business is worth purchasing in the first place.
This will help ensure that this isn't going to be another bad deal like those times when you bought those life-size cardboard cutouts of celebrities online thinking they would make great decorations for your apartment—only to find out later that they were actually meant for some kind of advertising campaign at an office building across town.
The Basics
When you're buying a business, there are a lot of things to think about. And one of the most important is ensuring that it's a good investment for you. When you're making an investment in something as large and potentially expensive as buying an entire company, it's critical to have all the information about your prospective purchase before committing yourself to it.
So what is due diligence? Due diligence is simply a process by which buyers can ensure that they've done their homework—that they know everything there is to know about the business they want to buy.
 In practice, this means having thoroughly vetted every aspect of the business including its finances and operations so that there are no surprises later on when it comes time for closing or taking ownership of assets beyond just cash flow projections (more on why this matters later).
The Process
The process of due diligence will vary depending on the type of business you're buying. For example, a small business may not have much in the way of assets and therefore won't have much in the way of financial information to consider.
In this case, a simple background check and interview with management might be all that's needed. On the other hand, if you're purchasing an established company that has been around for decades and has tons of valuable assets (including intellectual property), then there are going to be many more factors to consider during your due diligence stage.
It's also important to keep in mind that no matter how big or small your new business is, how old it is, or what kind of assets it has (or doesn't), every purchase should always include some sort of evaluation period where you can get acquainted with all aspects before making any final decisions on whether or not this was the right move for yourself as well as everyone else involved with acquiring their services/products/etcetera.
Conclusion
The process of Buying A Business NZ  is not as simple as it may seem at first glance. There are many factors that must be considered in order to make sure that the purchase will be successful and profitable in the long run. Due diligence is one of those factors that should never be neglected if you want to avoid any possible problems down the line.

SUN SIGNS
What are sun signs?
Sun signs are what you would consider your "zodiac sign," they are present in your everyday life & personality. Technically, the zodiac is a celestial measurement system. There are 360 degrees in a circle and therefore in the ecliptic (The path of the sun around the earth) and in the zodiac, and these 30 degree segments that we call signs are a way to know where celestial bodies are in space. A simpler way to think about it is the orbit of the earth around the sun which is in a circle, a 360 degree circle.. 360 divided by 30, 30 segments = 12, there are 12 zodiac signs. Now for the fun stuff! The sun is basically your ego, personality, and a bit of the energy that ties to your core identity.
How can I find my sun sign?
Search up the date you were born and the zodiac sign associated with it, or you can slide through the descriptions and find the italic bold containing the dates!
The sun.
Energy: Masculine.
Sign: Leo.
House: Fifth.
The sun changes signs every month.
Sun in Aries:
Natives with the sun in Aries are fierce! They're bold and people are attracted to that. They tend to have a certain confidence they carry with them everywhere they go, but don't be fooled! In some cases, this is just a facade that Aries natives display to the public to appear strong, and not weak. If your birthday falls between March 21st and April 19th, then I'm glad to announce you are an Aries sun!People with their sun in Aries can bring passion, action, and courage to almost anybody. They can be a blessing or a curse - or maybe both to everyone and anyone who interacts with them, even something as small as a wrong look can set these as a wrong look can set these people off. Impatience is a big trait these people can have, they may feel like their time could be better spent doing far more important things, or just working on themselves. Aries suns are extremely unpredictable, their wild nature allows them to do things other people would feel embarrassed to do. The zodiac sign Aries is symbolized as a ram, and rightfully so! Some other traits these people have are assertiveness, hot tempers, opinionated, and passionate. They have energy that is unmatched & can often find themselves being too blunt with people (because of their boldness!) Through the years, I have had many Aries friends that have always had amazing leadership skills! They also know how to get things done and take initiative. These people have the ability to speak what's on their mind freely without caring about what other people think, and this, this is admirable!
Celebrities with an Aries sun: Lady Gaga, Jackie Chan, Leonardo Da Vinci, Kourtney Kardashian.
Aries suns are best compatible with: Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius, Aries, and Aquarius placements.
Sun in Taurus:
The zodiac Taurus is represented with a bull, which makes sense because these natives are stubborn as hell!They do things their way, and only their way. They want it all, or they want nothing. These people like being comfortable! You will most likely catch them wearing sets of hoodies & sweatpants almost everyday. They do not like big changes and can have a difficult time adjusting to things they are not used to. If your birthday falls between April 20th and May 20th, then your sun is in Taurus! These individuals absolutely embody stability, and calmness. The whole world could literally be falling apart and they'd be calm, just sitting there. They have a very good amount of practical knowledge and wisdom! They are almost always grounded + logical. Their love for keeping things casual and having a routine everyday is big! These people are committed to their own comfort, and love to be in control. They love, love, love material things! They appreciate beauty and every other aspect of life. I've noticed that these people would prefer doing the same thing every single day instead of having some chaos in their life, which to me, is crazy. Another thing I've noticed is that they are great listeners, very dependable, and extremely, extremely determined! You can really never force a Taurus sun to do something they dont want to do because they won't do it, especially if it effects their sense of stability, but once they decide on something, they go all in and can get quite reckless!
Celebrities with a Taurus sun: Megan Fox, Adele, Dwane Johnson, Queen Elizabeth.
Taurus suns are best compatible with: Scorpio, Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn placements.
Sun in Gemini:
People with their sun in Gemini are very energetic! They can be quite indecisive, and have a hard time choosing between two things. Multi-tasking can be something they are good at or find easy to do! These people also have different sides of themselves, which can be very interesting and shocking to some people! May 21st through June 20th are the dates for someone who has their sun in Gemini, socializing and connecting with people may come natural to Gemini natives! Researching things that interest these people can also be really easy for them. Scatter-brained & expressive are some important keywords for these people. When Gemini suns reply to you there is almost always some wit or sarcastic remark involved, it's genuinely a bit funny, but inconvenient at serious times. The air sign, Gemini is eager to learn anything and everything they can from the latest fashion trends to what's happening around the world. They engage in things that interest them & can often have a big social life! Including multiple social accounts. These individuals are also able to talk about any topic they have heard about and make the conversation interesting! Communication is a must for them mean after all, they do thrive in it. While Gemini's are usually approachable, they do tend to not let the other person talk but still have a friendly nature while doing so! They themselves may even be a little shy when first meeting someone. Manipulative tendencies can be a possibility with these people!
Celebrities with a Gemini sun: Kanye West, Angelina Jolie, Tom Holland, Johnny Depp.
Gemini suns are best compatible with: Any other air and fire placements.
Sun in Cancer:
The zodiac Cancer is represented by a crab, they are emotional but they do sting. Cancers can often be seen as very manipulative, and “crybaby’s” but this is not all true! Once you get to know a Cancer native they are actually very nice and kind people to be around. Their natural emotional nature is a power for many reasons, they are there for you when others aren’t, and expect you to do the same/be the same way. Although they say they “forgive” you, they’ll never forget the pain you caused them. People with their suns in Cancer should work on setting more boundaries and stop taking on other people’s problems. They are extremely stubborn and protective of their relationships, just like a mother bear. They may devote some if not all of their time to family and friends. Once you genuinely get to understand them, they’ll be by your side forever. These individuals are very loving, sometimes to an unhealthy degree, they place everyone and anything they love above them, and go to great lengths to protect & defend everything they love, no matter the cost. They may be in charge of family finances or keep an eye on how family members manage money. Something surprising is that they’re not only devoted to their family, but to their job as well! To me, the sign Cancer symbolizes that you can turn “weakness” into strength. If you were born June 22nd to July 22nd, then your sun is in Cancer!
Celebrities with a Cancer sun: Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Khloé Kardashian, Tom Cruise.
Cancer suns are best compatible with: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces, Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus placements.
Sun in Leo:
Natives with their sun in Leo’s are very loyal & fresh. They know what to say and how to say it, and for this reason, many people can’t resist them. Stubbornness is also a big trait for these people, this makes sense because the symbol for Leo is a lion! Leo suns take pride in what they do, and some might say they’re too prideful, or egotistical which is true in some cases, I still love them though! They can be over-dramatic drama queens, but shine so bright! At times, they can hog the spotlight or step on others too, but its not done with bad intentions. They have a huge heart, and are very generous & courageous. These people are as loyal as they come, with a huge drive for protecting their loved ones. They’re able to match anyone’s energy at all times, and can have some people pleaser qualities to them. This placement can be very magnetic because they have an unmistakable vibe that pulls others in, it is very easy to discern a Leo sun! They can be the life of the party, the one singing karaoke the loudest, and probably the one with the best, most sexy outfit! They have be described as flamboyant, entertaining, vivacious, passionate, bold, and expressive. They make great natural leaders, and are blessed with a high self-esteem, many people can get jealous because of this, but they know that and pay no attention to it. They like praising themselves whenever they do something good, but what they love more is other people praising them for doing a job well done! If you were born July 23rd through August 22nd, then you my friend, are a Leo!
Celebrities with a Leo sun: Jennifer Lopez, Kylie Jenner, Madonna, Barack Obama.
Leo suns are best compatible with: Leo, Aries, Sagittarius, Gemini, and Libra placements.
Sun in Virgo:
Virgo is represented by the virgin, and is often associated with precision, critical thinking, service, and harvesting. Natives with the sun in Virgo are dedicated to whatever task they’re working on! They’re more then enough capable of taking care of themselves, and have a mental & physical flexibility and dynamism! They serve at the best of their abilities at all times, and would probably go nuts if they made errors. All of that perfectionism can be tiring. When they let loose a little though, they can be very fun with a dry sense of humor, and wit! They usually know what they want and know how to get it. In relationships, Virgo suns will challenge you head to toe to be your best, most interesting self! These people are also the type to correct grammar mistakes if they see any wrong, but this is how they show love! These individuals will most likely befriend people who know how to take care of themselves because they are attracted to this. If you’re birthday falls between August 23rd and September 22nd, you are a Virgo sun! These guys are very detail-oriented. Whatever job these people decide to embark upon, they will succeed in because they know how to put in the work. They especially shine in areas of writing, editing, and publishing. A thing I’ve noticed is that they like making their own schedules, and are extremely organized. They tend to self-discipline themselves a lot, that they often need to remind themselves to slow down & take a break.
Celebrities with a Virgo sun: Beyoncé, Blake Lively, Zendaya, Adam Sandler.
Virgo suns are best compatible with: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, and Scorpio placements.
Sun in Libra:
Natives with their sun in Libra are diplomatic, creative, and fair. They tend to think things in the context of relationships, and work their best when they have people on their side. They love good-quality things, and figuring out their aesthetic. These people are very indecisive, and fear of missing out may scare them. Saving money is important to people who have this placement, but hard to do because of all the wonderful things they could spend it on. These individuals are very people-oriented, so they also tend to invest a lot in the people they work with or for, but if the relationship doesn’t go the way they thought it would, it can be hard to maintain passion for the job. Did I mention Libra suns were charming? No? Well they definitely are. They are able to get anyone interested in them because they have great social/people skills, and are very partner-oriented. But when things get real, that’s when the trouble starts. They can be co-dependent and that inclines them to try to keep the peace, even when things are bad. They are able to get through negative situations with their partner, which is a sign of long-term compatibility! If you were born September 23rd through October 22nd, you are a Libra. Having time with friends, and having friendships in general is something that Libra suns appreciate a lot. There may be some trouble with gossiping though, because if they act one way towards someone but act completely differently when talking about them, there is a possible reputation of being called “fake.” <- (that is why most Libra suns get called fake!) And interestingly, they’re represented by the scales!
Celebrities with a Libra sun: Kim Kardashian, Cardi B, Will Smith, Gwen Stefani.
Libra suns are best compatible with: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, and Sagittarius placements.
Sun in Scorpio:
If you were born October 23rd to November 21st, your sun is in Scorpio! They are represented by the Scorpion. These people can have a very intense personality, and tend to search for the deeper things in life. They’re not a fan of small talk, because they like deeper connections. They really want to know what someone is made out of, and who the person actually is. Natives with this placement are definitely not scared of looking into someone’s soul. They tend to prefer ride or die relationships instead of just shallow ones. Scorpio suns tend to talk more about traumatic topics with someone very quickly! It’s their way of getting to know people. They can be very suspicious of people, and their motives. They usually find out the truth very quickly in situations. They have extremely good intuition, if you couldn’t tell. They are ready to defend themselves at all times, and don’t shy away from confrontation. They will call you out on your bullshit without ANY hesitation. When in relationships, they will literally move heaven and earth to be with the people they love. They will definitely fight for the relationship if it means a lot to them. Even if Scorpio suns show a hard exterior, they are still emotional. Although sometimes, it can be difficult for them to connect to their emotions. But when they do, it’s a very powerful thing to have. They can also seem very calm!! But don’t be fooled, because under all of that lays a very sensual, emotional, and intense person. They tend to like stable everyday routines & home life. They are extremely discreet & secretive, which means that you can’t manipulate them.
Celebrities with a Scorpio sun: Drake, Katy Perry, Kendall Jenner, Bill Gates.
Scorpio suns are best compatible with: Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio, Virgo, Capricorn, and Taurus placements.
Sun in Sagittarius:
Sagittarius sun energy is evolving, expansive, curious, and adventurous.. I mean, they are represented by the archer. These people may like exploring places they’ve never seen before & find great joy in doing so. They live to explore, and to experience many different things. Positivity is their power, and with it, anything can happen. It’s hard to kick and keep them down! Almost nothing can destroy them. They have such a big personality, it’s bright, funny, and blunt. Oh yes, these people will literally deliver the message as bluntly as possible. They hate acting non-authentic, and being around non-authentic people. In relationships, they want people who value their freedom and who can let them live the way they want to. At times, they tend to resist commitment and the constraints of tradition. They also tend to start things but yet they don’t finish them because of how quickly they loose interest. Natives with this placement make for excellent communicators! But their rash and bold approach to speaking can be somewhat jarring. They say things that they don’t always mean, which causes them to apologize afterwards. These people have strong opinions about what they believe and will always stand up for them, which can be exhausting for other people but still a good quality to have! Overall, Sagittarius suns have free-wheeling energy that can definitely be admired! If your birthday lies between November 22nd - December 21st, then you are a Sagittarius!
Celebrities with a Sagittarius sun: Nikki Minaj, Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Brad Pitt.
Sagittarius suns are best compatible with: Sagittarius, Leo, Aries, Gemini, and Libra placements.
Sun in Capricorn:
Capricorn’s suns are represented by the sea goat, in mythology, sea goats are represented with the body of a goat and a tail of a fish. These people know how to get things done, and don’t let ANYTHING stand in the way of their goals. This placement can be very stubborn at times but you only have to convince them that you know how to get it done better for them to loosen up. They know how to focus on the things that are important, and handle money very well. These individuals are usually seen as “detached and cold” because of this. They strive for success and would do anything to get there! Capricorn suns personality’s tend to get more playful, youthful, and optimistic as they age.. which is very interesting! Though they may seem very calm, they actually know how to party, and their closest friends & family know this! They are excellent at taking action and launching initiatives. Their determination can lead them to multiple strands of success in any industry! If you were born December 22nd through January 19th, you are a Capricorn. They can be very good leaders, but have workaholic-like tendencies. They may seem like “know-it-all’s” and can sometimes expect the worst out of every situation, they like family, music, and traditions. These people are very responsible and maintain a high sense of self-control at all times, it’s a literal superpower. They rarely make mistakes, but when they do, they take advantage and learn from it!
Celebrities with a Capricorn sun: Michelle Obama, LeBron James, Timothée Chalamet, Jared Leto.
Capricorn suns are best compatible with: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Pisces, and Scorpio placements.
Sun in Aquarius:
Aquarius suns are progressive, original, independent, and humane. They may run from emotional expression, are temperamental, uncompromising, and aloof. They usually like going out and having fun with friends, fighting for things that they’re passionate about, and intellectual conversations. They HATE stagnant things/days, limitations, and being lonely. These people have very unique personalities and are very different from the usual crowds. Although they stand up for the things they love, they can be quite shy and quiet at times. They may be afraid to express their true personalities because of fear of rejection or people not liking them. They are deep thinkers and very intelligent people, they are able to see people without any judgment and this makes them very admirable! These individuals know how to adapt to the energy that surrounds them, and have a deep need for alone time/time for themselves in order to recover their strength. They can shake anyone’s world, and feel most comfortable in a community with a group of people they relate to, but they have trouble finding somewhere where they really belong. If you were born January 20th to February 18th, you are an Aquarius! These people have authority problems because they’re usually the ones being in charge. There’s nothing more that can attract an Aquarius sun then an intellectual conversation! Aquarius is represented by the water-bearer.
Celebrities with an Aquarius sun: Shakira, Emma Roberts, Harry Styles, Oprah Winfrey.
Aquarius suns are best compatible with: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Aries, and Sagittarius placements.
Sun in Pisces:
The sign Pisces is symbolized with a fish. These people are big dreamers, and believe anything can be done if you really put your whole entire soul into it. Pisces suns are known for being overly-sensitive, generous, gracious, and emotionally aware. They’re usually characterized as the most sympathetic zodiac sign, because they’ll go to great lengths to make sure everyone they care about are happy. Creativity & imaginative are some strong words to use when describing a Pisces sun. They are aware of others feelings and know how to console and help them, like I said, they’re very emphatic people! When I said they were dreamers, I was not lying. People with their suns in Pisces dream very full, and big, daydreaming may be a big part of their personality. Even though they know how to aid others, these people aren’t as open to receiving aid from others. I’ve noticed that Pisces suns are usually very dedicated and have a strong desire for pleasing their significant other, which can often be seen as needy or obsessive. These individuals are devoted and will always prioritize their family, they adore gatherings of extended families where everyone can get along & enjoy! A word of advice for Pisces suns is to stop letting people take advantage of you, stand up for yourself. They can be really romantic and love sleeping! If you were born February 19th through March 20th, then you are a Pisces.
Celebrities with a Pisces sun: Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Millie Bobby Brown, Camila Cabello.
Pisces suns are best compatible with: Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio, Taurus, and Capricorn placements.

analyzing every gojohime moment in the manga 😈
this series will probably have more than one part because tumblr only lets me upload ten images per post </3
warning: there are disgustingly long paragraphs in here and delusions
Tumblr media
chapter 32
utahime’s first introduction!  akutami lets us know right off the bat that she thinks gojo is an idiot (so true).
Tumblr media
chapter 32
i love the contrast between miwa and utahime’s reaction to gojo’s appearance.
Tumblr media
chapter 33
NAH BC TELL ME WHY HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO NOT GET HER ONE LMAOOOO!!  when he traveled overseas to meet with yuta, he picked up the tribal protection charms and thought to himself, “let’s get enough for the kyoto students as a gift since i am such a great and caring teacher, after all.  mmm, i should skip utahime to make her mad~”  this guy puts way too much effort into getting on her nerves.  his mind = utahime brainrot
Tumblr media
chapter 33
she’s laughing at him here because he’s getting disciplined for being a lil shit.  i wonder...what would he say if he saw her laughing at him like that?
Tumblr media
chapter 33
this interaction between them is a little strange don’t you think?   i feel like over the years he’s learned how to pick up her mood based on the way she’s acting towards him.  you’re probably thinking, “well any person can figure out how a person’s feeling based on the way they’re talking or acting.”  yes, that’s absolutely true, but it’s kind of different with this.  she’s acting normal.  utahime has a rather indifferent expression on her face and what she says is spoken in a calm tone, but gojo still asks her if she’s mad at him.  it’s likely that he knows her well enough to be able to notice these subtle things.  even if she wasn’t actually mad at him, he was being considerate for a split second, then he went and said, “of course.  i didn’t do anything wrong and all.”  what a guy LOLOL.  to me, this implies that maybe he made her genuinely angry in the past to the point where he realized that he went too far, and thus decided to be more careful of her feelings.  she has definitely gotten annoyed at him so many times after that so whenever she seems angry, he probably asks himself if he took it too far.  i’m curious to see if he can pick up if she’s upset with something that’s not involving him.  would he console her?  how does gojo satoru console someone?
despite him always annoying her, she’s still courteous and brings him a cup of tea during their talk.  she didn’t have to go out of her way to get tea for him but she did.  that’s the kind of person utahime is.  a kind and caring woman who would never put her students in danger.  in the anime they were sitting far away and not facing each other like they’re doing in the manga.  she also has her own tea cup.  i think that little panel of her placing the cup down on the table and him picking it up to take a sip is a nice little detail.  it just proves that her hating him most of the time isn’t actually pure hatred but annoyance because of his shenanigans and teasing.
Tumblr media
chapter 33
i touched upon this a little bit in my previous post, but i wish to go more in depth about this panel.  first of all, he ends the sentence with her name twice.  two times too many, mr. gojo.  i like how they can be serious with each other too LOL.  i wish we got to see them talk about the traitors because they did figure it out together after all.  does it always end in bickering?  can they interact with each other like adults all the way through?  somehow, i feel like that’s not possible when it comes to these two.  furthermore, notice how gojo confides in utahime about his suspicions.  from what we know, she is the first person he brought it up to.  i mean, i guess he has to start investigating the schools and would need extra assistance to save time, but he could have done it himself if he really wanted to.  by deciding to ask for her help we know that he thinks she’s trustworthy, smart, and strong enough to face whatever considerable risks this task may entail.
i didn’t point this out in my other posts but see how he makes a hand sign in the last panel when she throws the cup at him?  gojo is manually activating his infinity.  why though?  about a year after the whole star plasma vessel incident happened, gojo develops the ability to keep his infinity up at all times by using the reversed curse technique to consistently heal himself to prevent exhaustion.  this means that it really makes no difference whether he leaves it on or off.  there are a few times where we can witness someone actually touching gojo.  for example, yuuji giving him a hug.  did he turn his infinity off, or was it able to deduce that yuuji was not a threat?  the erasers and pencils shoko and geto threw at him during his demonstration of his new ability aren’t dangerous normally, but is it the speed that makes them dangerous?  even if it did hit him, it wouldn’t hurt.  how does the infinity know when to allow an incoming object to touch gojo?  i believe it is up to gojo himself to let things touch him; his infinity restricts anything and anyone.  some people say it could just be the fact that water is not dangerous to him, so therefore, he has to manually put his infinity up.  i thought this was a reasonable explanation as to why he put up the hand sign when the tea was thrown at him, but then i realized that it couldn’t be.  remember the second opening?  it’s raining and everyone is carrying an umbrella, then it pans to gojo with a bouquet in his hand and rain drops slipping off his infinity.  if he DID manually put his infinity up to prevent getting soaked then that implies that he chose to turn his infinity off.  you can argue and say that jujutsu high is a safe place with students so there’s no need to have his infinity there, but do you remember when he stepped on the ants in front of gakuganji and yaga?  the ants were perfectly fine after which insinuates that his infinity prevented his shoes from crushing the ants.  he most likely had his infinity on during the baseball game even though he was in a safe environment.  how does this long tangent relate back to utahime?  well, it simply indicates that gojo trusts utahime so much to the point where he can be vulnerable around her.  turning off his infinity symbolizes completely letting down his guard  in a way.
how about what happens next?  utahime throws the tea at him, he turns on his infinity to deflect it, and he responds with, “scary!  hysteric women aren’t popular, you know!”  why would he even say that LMAO??  utahime doesn’t even try to deny what he said either.  she just hits him with the good old, “i am your senpai!”  could it be that he’s trying to poke fun of her relationship status?  maybe, maybe not.  doesn’t he like people a lil crazy?  he did say that all jujutsu sorcerers have to be a little crazy because they’re willing to put themselves in danger constantly.
Tumblr media
chapter 0 p.1
i wonder who he’s thinking of when he said that.  could it be utahime?  it seems like he’s reminiscing or thinking about someone.  he wears an amused expression on his face as he laughs - almost like he’s seen his fair share of how scary women can get :>>
Tumblr media
chapter 34
the pattern behind gojo and utahime is called yagasuri “fletching,” a traditional japanese design.  this design is inspired by arrow fletching.  it's a lucky charm for weddings and other celebrations since it's based on the Japanese belief that an arrow shot once never comes back.  brides were given kimonos with this pattern for good luck during the edo era (1603–1868) to ensure they would not have to return to their original family home.  this pattern can have numerous meanings such as steadfastness or determination to achieve a goal, or a wish for the happiness of the bride.  there is a belief that a bow and arrow represent the fight against evil.  honestly, this meaning fits the narrative of the story.  utahime and gojo are unearthing the traitors that are feeding intel to the curse users and cursed spirits.  they are in the middle while the kyoto students surround them, which could mean that it’s their job as adults to protect these children from the grasps of evil slowly making itself more prominent.  do you also notice that the arrows are pointed toward utahime from gojo?  from all the images i’ve seen, the arrows are usually pointed downward.  what could this mean?  is gojo trying to protect her (in the future (?)) or does he have a big fat crush smh...
i think it’s a good time to mention utahime’s clothing.  she’s wearing miko attire.  miko are shrine maidens who were once thought to be shamans (you connecting the dots?).  in their service to shrines, miko used to perform spirit possession and takusen (in which the possessed person acts as a "medium" (yorimashi) to communicate the divine will or message of that kami (god) or spirit; also included in the category of takusen is "dream revelation" (mukoku), in which a kami appears in a dream to communicate its will).  this was back in the old days, of course.  to become a miko back then (shaman), one needed to have potential.  neurosis, hallucinations, odd behavior, and hysteria (HYSTERIA HELLO???) are some of the signs that a person is being called to shamanism.  when a miko is communicating with a kami (god) or spirit by acting as a medium, she is in a trance-like state, and so she must learn techniques to control herself when this happens.  chanting and dancing were used to accomplish this, so the girl was taught melodies and intonations that were used in songs, prayers, and magical formulas.  all of this could give us insight about utahime’s technique and explains why she’s good at singing :)  maybe she can’t control herself when she uses her technique which is why she isn’t shown using it because it should be used for dire situations.  i imagine being possessed by a spirit or god must consume a lot of cursed energy.  it makes sense that utahime and gakuganji wear traditional clothing.  they’re the staff of jujutsu high’s kyoto branch.  in chapter 0, kyoto is known as the sacred land of jujutsu.  it’s more traditional compared to tokyo.  if you want to learn more about miko, you should check out the wikipedia page!
Tumblr media
chapter 34
i swear he tries to annoy her every chance he gets.  i bet he sets a goal for himself to see how many times utahime lectures him about respecting his seniors every time he’s within the same vicinity as her.  at least he called her utahime-sensei!!!
Tumblr media
chapter 40
this isn’t even a gojohime moment tbh...i just wanted to share a pic of them sitting next to each other HEHE.  why are they sitting next to each other anyway?  it’s not like they have assigned seating.
----
that was so long and i apologize for the gargantuan paragraphs you guys had to read through.  i’m writing this at 4 in the morning and i’m feeling borderline delirious so i apologize if there are any errors.  i’ll edit this when i have time <3
the next part should come shortly.

Thirteen.
The sidewalk underneath your feet has thirteen cracks in the little square you stand in.  Sliding a small rock into one of them provides you with something to do until you hear the squeaking, screeching brakes of a bus struggling to a stop in front of you.
You adjust the strap on your shoulder as the doors open with a hydraulic hiss, and you give the driver a small smile before finding a place to stand.  There aren’t many people commuting today, so it’s a pleasant surprise that you get to sit down for a change.
It was just another day in your life.  You got up this morning and did your routine, listened to your wake up music on repeat, and checked that you had your wallet, phone, keys, and earphones before heading down to the bus stop.  The very same earphones are still on as you now have your library on shuffle, and you hum along to the “na na na’s” of the current tune.
Living in Seoul for about a year now, you were pretty settled in.  The people were accommodating, the quality of life was much better than where you were before, and you felt like you could live here for the rest of your days.  It was insanely tough at first, but the initial culture shock and feeling of loneliness lessened as you made friends and befriended coworkers.  You don’t have many people close to you here, but you can count on the ones that are.
You turn your head to gaze out the windows.  Shimmering glass buildings tower over you, shops and street signs whiz by, and people look like they’re walking in slow motion as you follow them with your eyes.  Blips of pastels and bold colors mingle together and you look down to observe your own monochrome uniform.  For the place you worked at, you didn’t expect the clothes to look luxurious, but they’re actually designed very well.  And they’re soft.
That’s enough for you.
Your stop is next, so you hook your arm around the nearest pole to prep.  The steel has a coldness that seeps into your sleeve, but your only thought is wondering what you should eat for lunch.
-
Why do you feel so tense?
The sign right above you emits a sense of relaxation, but there’s a tightness in your shoulders.  Odd.  You lock your phone with one hand and grip the strap of your pack with the other before taking a deep breath.  You count down from three before letting it out.
The hiss of your exhale mingles with the standard sounds of the city, and you concentrate on the flow of life both inside your body and the environment around you.  You did this often when you felt out of place, and it served to recalibrate you and your thoughts.  Storing your phone away, you make your way inside the frosted glass doors.
Working at one of Seoul’s prestigious wellness centers was definitely something you were proud of.  If there was one thing you’ve wanted for years, it was for a way for you to massage yourself.  Everyone seemed to love your massages, but no one knew how to massage you.  That is, until you came here.  You’ve never experienced people knowing exactly where you were hurting and effectively working out all of those kinks during one session.  It was magical.
What is even more magical is the fact that you joined the ranks of those same angels from above.  You love them, and they love you.
“Good morning! I hate you!”
Well.
“Morning, Yoon,” you respond lowly as you take your earphones out and store them. “Love you, too.” As you walk around front reception, Yoon smiles at you and comments,
“No, really, I think you legitimately repulse me now.”
You shoot her a look of pure terror. “What the hell did I do?”
“Nothing,” she sighs, dropping her eyes to the papers in front of her.
In a state of panic, your mind speeds through any events that happened since the last time you saw her.  Did you accidentally ignore her once?  Look at her funny?  Yoon was big on body language.
You didn’t realize you were still staring at her until she tapped the glass counter between you two.  “Hey, I’m sorry. I know you’re nervous. I just thought jokes would help.”
What?
“I’m not nervous, just tense for some reason.  Although, you definitely made it worse,” you admit, “I might need to take a longer break today and somehow get Jay to rub my shoulders.  Maybe I can bribe him with samgy--”
“--Uhh, forget him; have you even checked your client list for this week?  I’ll do anything if you switch your schedule with me.”
Double-what?
“Okay, now you’re just being weird,” you chuckle, “But also, no, I haven’t checked yet.  It’s Monday!”
In a sing-song manner, Yoon warns, “You better check your schedule before I snatch it...”
You laugh again and wave her off, but her words only mess with your head.  As you make your way to the back room, you fidget and check your phone for any notifications you missed between when you exited the bus and now.  You don’t know what you expected: still nothing.
As if you feel the weight of eyes on you, you glance up and notice some people are giving you looks.
What in the hell is going on?  It’s 7am on a Monday and therefore way too early for people to be this upset with you.  Yoon may have said she was joking, but by the looks of everyone else...
A hand claps onto your shoulder, causing you to yelp and feel like you rocket right into the ceiling.  Only the hearty laugh beside you clues you in on who you were getting revenge on later.
“Geez, someone’s not looking forward to today.”
“You better sleep with one eye open tonight, Jay,” you seeth, hands rubbing your temples as you struggle to steady your heart rate. “Also, what’s so special about today?  Yoon was being strange just a second ago, too.”
Your coworker looks at you like you have seven heads. “Okay, first off: if I had the amount of adrenaline in your body right now, I wouldn’t be able to sleep at all.  And second: you didn’t check your schedule yet?”
They didn’t know it, but they were going to be the death of you.
“No, I ha--It’s a Mon--you know what, I’m going to check now; you guys are killing me.” You leave Jay in a rush and race to the employee lounge.  The anxiousness in your chest is bubbling over.
Jay’s on your heels, whispering loudly, “I can spoil it right now if you want!”
You respond in a low voice, “Don’t you have a client to see?”
“Nope!”
You round the corner and see the back room door is already open, so you power through and head straight for the docking table on the other side.  Everyone working here has a personal tablet, and you unplug yours from the charging port.  Pressing through the menus as quickly as the tablet allows, you feel a thin layer of sweat on your skin.  Touch ID.  Login.  Main Menu.  Scheduling.  Weekly Outlook.  Confidentiality Prompt.
Shit.
Confidentiality Prompts are for the therapists that have huge clients scheduled.  They’re put in place for celebrities and business executives to have guaranteed privacy.
With a start, you wonder why the hell Yoon wanted your schedule.  Everyone here is wary of high-profile people.  It’s a whole different experience since they basically hold your life in their hands in each session.  You recall a horror story that happened when you first started working there, and still don’t know where that employee ended up.
Your only problem is that you’ve never had to deal with this before.  Jay, Yoon, and a bunch of the veterans have, but this is going to be your first.
“Damn, yours is longer than mine was,” Jay observes before you squeeze your tablet to your chest.  “That looks intense.”
“Umm, snoopy much?” You shift your body away from him and speed read through the very long, very wordy window.  When you hit Accept, another window pops up that you have to read through.  This one is even more fine print. You suddenly realize something and dart your eyes up.  “Wait, you got one, too?”
Jay nods and looks away, and he actually looks nervous.  “Yeah, we all got them this time.”
Now that is alarming.  This client must be something else.
Window after window comes up and you wonder if you should probably read these in earnest.  It’s starting to genuinely scare you.
If this is that big of a deal…
You banish that thought from your mind as soon as it appears.  Elephants would have to fall from the sky before you believe someone from that group is booking you here.
You hit Accept before you realize you didn’t actually read and instead mindlessly scrolled through the prompts.  As the screen buffers, you bite your lip.
The screen goes back to normal and presents your schedule for today.  Your coworkers are living their normal lives, putting their stuff in their lockers and getting materials ready for various sessions.  Jay is being completely normal as he can’t stop laughing at your expression.
And your life is anything but normal anymore because elephants are dropping from the clouds and the words Monday, 8am, Park Jimin are staring you right in the face.
-
“You mean to tell me that you cleared your morning schedule just to see my reaction?”
Jay laughs in earnest. “Yes, and it was so worth it.”
You are failing to stop bouncing your leg as you wait at one of the tables in the employee lounge.  There’s a cup of coffee in front of you, but you already know you aren’t going to drink a drop of it.  You are about to be in close quarters with the equivalent of a royal family member, so coffee breath is out of the question.
Suddenly self-conscious, you ask, “Do you have a toothbrush I can borrow?”
“I actually do.  Let me grab it.”
As your friend gets up, you scrutinize the table in front of you to avoid peoples’ lingering stares.  How everyone somehow knew your upcoming client before you did was a mystery, but you don’t really care enough at the moment to find out.
Jay hands you what you asked for and you thank him before heading to the bathroom to freshen up.  After you brush your teeth like a madman, you check your face for discrepancies and sigh at your choice of almost no makeup today.
You can’t help but wonder if the thirteen cracks in the sidewalk are laughing at you at this very moment.
Checking your smart watch, you realize you have either the longest or shortest 30 minutes of your life left before your appointment with Jimin.
You huff out a laugh at how ridiculous that sounds.  You refuse to believe this is real until you physically see him in the room.  Confidentiality forms or not, the name Park Jimin or not, you still can’t wrap your head around the situation.
Speaking of the forms, you assume that they were printed out for company records as soon as you submitted yours to sign.  You decide to head back to the front desk after throwing Jay his spare toothbrush, to which he responds with pure disgust.
-
It was like Yoon was waiting for you because as soon as you open the glass doors, she’s  hounding you, “So what did you do in a past life?  Did you save an emperor?  Rescue a prophet?”
“I don’t know about a past life, but I did save a turtle when I was five.”  You tap your fingers on the reception desk and stare at the orchids on the counter.  “Or at least I thought I did.  I probably just made his life harder.  Can I see a copy of the forms I signed?”
“I’m gonna go with the saved prophet.  Which one was it?”
“Yoon,” you beg, desperate as you glance at the abstract clock above her and see that you have 20 minutes left.  A mere 20 minutes until he is supposed to arrive to check-in.
“Okay, okay!  Hold on,” she chuckles and rolls her chair away from you and towards the printer.  “By the way, if I wasn’t the one checking him in, I would’ve hijacked your entire day already.”
Her words are garbled since you are laser-focused on rubbing an orchid petal between your fingers.  Its soft and supple touch is calming you, and just for a second, you are able to clear your thoughts.
You let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding when Yoon hands you the forms.  The paper is still warm as you thank her and head towards the doors.
“Oh, wait,” Yoon calls behind you, and you turn to see her grabbing another small stack of papers.  When she extends them over the counter, she explains, “I was waiting until you saw your schedule to hand these over.  Read through them carefully.”
“Thanks,” you whisper, even more anxious than before.
-
Your heart jumps into your throat when you see what Yoon handed over.  You don’t even remember the walk to the back lounge and to one of the secluded tables; all you can focus on are the papers in front of you.  They look like they were written on and scanned before being sent over to the wellness center.
It’s Jimin’s handwriting.
You’ve seen his penmanship before.  There is no mistaking the neat, determined strokes.  Even the way he checked the boxes and circled the pain points on diagrams proves very... well, him.  Any other uncertainty dissolves after you see his birthday filled in, as well.
This is really happening.
You gently slam the papers on the table and hunch over to commit the information to memory.  Months and months of schooling have sharpened this ability of yours, and you are determined to imagine this as just another client you have to memorize.
Light to medium pressure.  Avoid anything above light pressure around the spinal area and lower back.  Shoulders, calves, and feet are pain points.  Facial area priority.
A trip to the countryside right at this very moment sounds like a fantastic idea.
Jay plops into the seat in front of you, and that thought bubble bursts.  “This color on your face suits you.  Reminds me of what’s-his-name, Edward.”
“How much time do I have,” you question, not even acknowledging him.
“Seven minutes.”
“Of course,” you mutter before standing, the irony not lost on you.  “I’ll go prep now.”
You don’t see Jay waving you off.  “If you survive, I’ll see you on the other side!”
A laugh escapes you.  Personally, your only goal is to make it through five minutes.  If you pass away after that, you would have no regrets.
-
You stand behind the reception doors with your tablet to your chest, staring at the wall across the way.  The subtle wallpaper pattern is a great choice for this place, you decide.
Indescribable anxiousness and fear aside, you have a job to do.  As long as you keep your outside actions professional, your inner turmoil can be whatever the hell it wants.  You’ve been in this profession long enough and you know you’re ready to do this.  You’ve seen the whole spectrum of human emotion in this line of work.  No matter how well of a job you do, there are still people that are never happy.  As long as you focus on keeping the client’s wellness and health in mind, you keep your consciousness clear.
Then again, you haven’t had to deal with a client like Park Jimin before, let alone a high executive or well-known actress.
A muffled “Good morning and welcome” reaches your ears and you push yourself off the wall.  The frosted glass only allows you to see so much, but you can make out a few guys standing in the front area.  Two are taller and only wearing dark clothes, and the other is a bit shorter.  The latter is looking to be wearing a beanie, light colored top, and dark pants.
You can’t hear anyone talking other than Yoon, but suddenly the shorter one makes his way to your doors.
It’s him.  You’re absolutely sure.
Steeling your resolve, you pull your side open.  With a smile, you look straight at your client’s sunglasses-and-mask-clad face and greet him just like you would anyone else, “Good morning and welcome.  Am I speaking to Mr. Park?”
He stills for a second before he nods.
“Nice to meet you.  We’ll be in Room 3.”
-
Jimin bows to you slightly and whispers a thank you, and you follow him to your room.  Your heart is rattling nonstop as you note the height difference between the two of you.  It isn’t as bad as you thought it was.
The door to Room 3 is already open, and when Jimin enters you stop at the entrance.
You lied earlier.  None of this feels real.  He’s physically in the room, and you still don’t think this is happening.
You let Jimin put his bag down on the corner chair before gliding into the formal greeting, “Since this is our first session, please let me know if there’s anything you need.  I did go over your forms, but if there was something that wasn’t specified, feel free to ask.  I want to make sure all of your needs are met today.”
“Your name?”
You falter. “What?”  Did he just...
Jimin takes off his sunglasses, and you feel all oxygen leave your body.  He’s still wearing a mask, but you can see that his eyes are creased just a tad.  “It wasn’t specified on the forms.  Your name?”
A part of you just chalks this up to being standard Jimin behavior, but the other part of you wonders if he really didn’t know whom he was getting a massage from.  Did Yoon not tell him?  Check-in is supposed to confirm your specialist.
You also note that his voice is infinitely softer in person.  TV and recordings did not do this man justice.
Keeping it professional is all you must do.  You tell him your name, apologizing for not introducing yourself already.  It’s also on your tablet, so you show him while you talk.
Jimin leans forward to read it and smiles again. “Ah.  Pretty.”
Are your five minutes up?  Can you pass away now?  He’s a mere six feet away from you but it feels like his presence is engulfing you.
All that escapes you is a tiny thank you.  “So, mhm,” you clear your throat and yell at yourself to get it together, “Go ahead and undress down to your comfort level and lie down on the bed with the sheet on top of you.  That remote there is connected to my tablet, so just take it off the charger and bring it to the bed. You can press the green button whenever you’re ready.”
Jimin looks towards the console table next to him and sees the white remote.  It’s docked in a sleek charging port and stands out against the light wood.  He nods, and you give him one last smile before reaching out and closing the door.
-
The only words your brain can process at the moment are not work appropriate, so you just go on autopilot to the employee lounge.  You expected Jay or even Yoon to be chomping at your heels as soon as you left Jimin by himself, but neither of them are around.  That was completely fine: employees aren’t allowed to divulge anything that goes on in client sessions unless it’s dangerous to either of you.
You help yourself to a cup of water and down it before pouring another.  The fruit flavor for today is strawberry, and you watch the fruit and ice swirl around as you stir the big glass container.  There are pastries and assorted breakfast foods calling your name in the clear cabinet next to you, but you refuse.  Your adrenaline is hindering your appetite.
People are still giving you daggers for stares, but after seeing Jimin in person you really can’t blame them.  Even when you couldn’t even see his face, you felt his presence.  His aura filled up that entire room and he only spoke around ten words.  It would be a lie to say that you aren’t intimidated.  You can already count the number of times you almost bolted out of the room on two hands.  But you made yourself proud: as long as you keep your outer actions calm, you can get through this.  Your voice was fairly level for someone whose heart was bouncing out of their ribcage.  In the end, you want to make him feel comfortable and safe.  Emotions cannot exist right now.
Self-deprecation comes into play as you wonder if this is a huge mistake and if Jimin is already out the door to find a better therapist.
Oh, well.  At least he said your name was pretty.
Your doubts are casted aside as your tablet dings.
Jimin’s ready for you.
-
When you enter the room, you can see that your client followed your instructions completely.  You glance at the corner chair and see that he even folded his clothes and set his jewelry neatly on the thin, long table.  Since Jimin can’t see you from his position, you allow a warm smile to grace your features.
You close the door as softly as you can.  The way the room is designed, the clients lie down so that their head is opposite the doorway.  It takes you a few steps until you reach the head of the bed.  You gingerly take the remote from where Jimin placed it next to his neck and turn around to redock it, and start to dim the lights with your tablet.  Per standard, you ask, “Mr. Park, is this okay, or would you like the lights lower?”
His voice is projecting straight towards the floor, but it still sounds so light, “This is good, but please, call me Jimin.”
That’s definitely not what you expected, but you are touched.  You nod before realizing that he still can’t see you.  “Do you have a music preference for today?”
“Whatever you prefer is fine.”
Jimin is being so agreeable that your nerves start to dissipate.  You were expecting him to at least be a little particular at some things, but he is being really easy to work with.  The atmosphere starts to feel safe enough for you to joke, “Well, it does depend on my mood, so for now I’ll play Standard Spa Chord Progression, No. 5 instead of No. 3.”
The small chuckle you hear melts your heart.  “Ah, is that the one with the harp?”
“No, that’s Spa Concerto, No. 4. We don’t have that one in our library, but I think it’s terrible anyways.”
Jimin’s head lifts from the table in an earnest laugh, and you can’t help but laugh with him.  It’s infectious.
You select a random song on your tablet, and you weren’t lying when you said it was standard.  The song is less of a song and more like a bunch of reverberating chords in slow succession.  That’s one thing you noticed about this place: modern tech but very outdated music.  Get with the times!  At least have some nice piano covers to choose from.
“Not having Spa Concerto, No. 4 may be a deal-breaker for me,” Jimin comments, a hint of a smile in his voice.
You’re still tapping on your tablet to get to his file, and you make your way back to the door.  There’s a clear slot on each room’s door to hold employee tablets, and as soon as you store yours, you can finally start.  “I don’t blame you, even though I think it’s awful, that one still topped the char--Oh, shit!”
You aren’t watching where you’re going, so you don’t see the shoes in your path.  It’s so dim in the room and his shoes match the floor color but none of that matters because right now you are falling and you are falling fast.  Your first instinct is to grab the table, but that would risk pulling the blanket off of Jimin and you would rather die than do that to him.
So, floor it is.
Your hand not holding the tablet breaks some of the fall, but your face definitely makes contact with the ground.  You can feel the slight burn on your nose and hand, and a sharp lingering pain follows.
Okay, now can you pass away.  Someone from the heavens can come claim you now.
Drowning in shame, you don’t help yourself off the floor right away.  Not only were you breaking your rule and joking around, you also weren’t paying attention and now possibly ruined Park Jimin’s shoes.
You’ll look up good resigning practices later tonight.  You have enough money saved up to make it a couple months without a job, you reckon.
When you finally lift yourself off the floor, you turn around and see Jimin pushed up on the table.  His whole upper body is bare and twisted towards you, and this is the first time you see his entire face.  It’s more beautiful in person, you conclude, even though it conveys nothing but concern right now.  “Are you okay?”
You nod furiously and stand up completely. Your voice is shaky as you apologize, “I am so sorry.  One moment.” Before checking yourself, you check your personal tablet.  To say it was worth more than you isn’t that far of a reach.  No scratches, though. Praise be.
“Don’t apologize… Did you trip on my shoes?”
Embarrassment washes over you as you nod, not looking at Jimin.  Placing your tablet gingerly on the console table, you dust your uniform down and inspect your hands and feel your nose.  Luckily, there’s no blood, only slight rug burns.  If there was blood, you would have to postpone the appointment until you effectively sanitized.  With what you have, you just need to go wash up.
Jimin is still watching you intently, which makes your face burn even more.  What a mess.  He’s probably second-guessing this whole thing.
You bow, feeling tears at the corners of your eyes.  “Mr. Park, I am so sorry.”
“Jimin.”
“I’ll just need to clean my hands and then I promise we will start as soon as I get back.  I know your time is valuable so I’ll make up for the minutes we lost.”
“I… Okay.  Thank you.”
You make your way out of the room, still courteous enough to shut the door quietly.  Rushing to the nearest sink, a small sob leaves your throat as you wring your hands under the water.  Life is kind to you at this moment because no one is around.  You would never live it down if someone saw you coming out of Jimin’s room crying.
After splashing water on your face and drying it, you take out a cotton pad from one of the glass containers on the counter.  You press it onto your eyes, decreasing the evidence of your current state.
So much for making Jimin feel safe and comfortable.  You’ve only made it awkward.
-
With a deep breath, you enter the room.
Jimin turns his head and puts it in the crook of his arm to look back at you.  “Are you sure you’re okay?  I’m sorry I couldn’t help you…”
You go over to his shoes and move them under the chair, wincing when you see visible tears on them.  Guess you’re withdrawing a chunk of your savings to pay Park Jimin for damages.
“I assure you, I’m fine,” you state firmly, but soften, “But I’m really sorry about the shoes; I may have torn them.  I can pay you back.”
You hear sheets shuffling, and when you face him, Jimin’s fully on one elbow and turned towards you.  “No, please, don’t worry about those.  I should’ve put them out of the way.  I feel bad.”
“It’s definitely my fault,” you countered, “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Jimin uses your name, which stops you in your tracks.  “Everything’s okay, I promise.”
You should feel many different things, like pride in getting to see this man in person, or happiness from him actually addressing you by name.  But all you can think about in this moment is how disappointing you’ve been to another human being, and you sigh.
You nod, but still plan to pay him back.  You know enough about designer brands to know those aren’t cheap, and they’re shoes you’ve seen him wearing a lot in photos.
“It’s okay to lie back down,” you say softly, unmoving.
Jimin searches your face one more time before settling back face-down on the table.
It’s a normal day at work, you tell yourself.  Go through your routine.
Launching yourself into action, you move to the far end of the console table.  Grabbing a bottle you’ve clutched so many times before that its label is wearing down, you uncap it and oil your hands and wrists.  You also unstopper a bottle of lavender oil and pour a few drops into the nearby bamboo diffuser and start it.
You make your way to the head of the table and grab a rolling stool from a corner of the room.  The wheels on your chair don’t make any noise, which you fixed up yourself.  This day isn’t any different - it’s still silently gliding on the carpet.  Plopping your devastated self onto the cushion, you scoot towards Jimin’s head.  You’re about to place your hands onto his bare shoulders to start, but you whisper,
“It’s also okay if you want to cancel and reschedule with someone else, Mister--Um, Jimin.”
You can’t believe you just gave Park Jimin a way out of a whole 60 minutes with you.  Where did this conviction and restraint come from?  Is this going to be the regret of your entire lifetime?
After a long silence, Jimin answers with his face in the headrest, “If you call me Mister Jimin again, then I will.”
You huff out a laugh at his unexpected answer, and your shoulders finally relax.  It seems like he’s still fine after everything that’s happened, and you thank any deity you can think of for this second chance.
-
Light to medium pressure.  Avoid anything above light pressure around the spinal area and lower back.  Shoulders, calves, and feet are pain points.  Facial area priority.
You aren’t a fan of light pressure, but you understand why people prefer it.  Not everyone can handle the deep tissue or harder pressure massages.
Jimin’s shoulders are incredibly tense, though, so you feel bad that you’re limited in what you can do.  You allow some medium pressure to the worst spots, and when you approach the insides of his shoulder blades you lessen the intensity.
Gliding your fingers back to the ridge between his neck and shoulders, you feel that his right is still tight.  You use your left elbow to work that knot, careful to press even lighter than you would with your hands.
Jimin grunts, and you still. “Is that too much?”
“No, I like that.”
You keep that in mind as your hands travel over the rest of his upper back area.  From time to time, you reapply the oil to allow for less friction.  It lets your fingers slide deftly across muscles and quickly work any troublesome areas, which Jimin has a lot of.
It makes sense: you can’t even imagine the amount of pressure all of the boys were constantly dealing with.  There was a lull in their activity recently, so you knew something was in the works.  Between recording songs, shooting music videos, fulfilling their brand contracts, and whatever else they do, you’re surprised you don’t feel more knots under Jimin’s skin.
The soft chords of the next song float around the room, and you lose yourself in your movements.  You can’t see his face, which makes it a lot easier.  You worked through his whole upper body, neck, and upper arms area so naturally that you were admiring his wrist tattoo before remembering who you were massaging.
For the seven hundredth time that day, you cannot believe this is happening.  You really hope Jimin does feel safe here despite your whirlwind of thoughts.  Have you kept it professional enough?  Neutral enough?  He seemed to be fine with your joking earlier, and he didn’t seem upset about the shoes in the least.
But still… Maybe he was just tolerating you because it’s the same situation for him, different place and day.  Putting yourself in his shoes, you would feel pity for you trying your best to accommodate him.  The pressure over everyone everywhere you go had to be exhausting.  It couldn’t ever be normal.
Your shoulders suddenly slump under the weight of what you feel for him.
And Jimin seems to notice.  “Really, it’s okay about the shoes.  Those were getting pretty worn anyways.”
You still.  Of course he thought you were still fussing over the shoes and not over his life.  His unending consideration was like a burning hearth: it made you feel so warm.
“Okay,” you respond softly, “I understand.”
“Good.  If you worry about them again, I’m walking out barefoot,” Jimin says sternly, even though you know he’s kidding.  “And don’t test me, I’ve done it before.”
Your words leave you before you think.  “I don’t believe you.”
“Oh?”
Jimin puts his hands on the table and you yelp, “Okay, okay, stop!”
He laughs and plops his arms back down flat.  You lament as you still can see how his muscles bulge in your mind.
You shake your head and sigh before rolling to his left and softly taking his arm.  His skin is so soft you don’t even need the oil, you notice.  You work his forearm before moving down to his wrist and fingers.  Thinking about Jimin’s threat, you are pretty curious.  “Be honest: did that really happen?”
“It didn’t,” he responds immediately, “But I thought about it once.  My shoes were killing my feet so I thought about walking without them until I found a shoe store.”
It sounds so childish to you that you chuckle.  “Where was this,” you ask, completely intrigued now.
“Ah, I honestly can’t remember.  I think somewhere in Europe.”
“...Did you just pick an entire continent because you couldn’t remember?”
“...There’s seven continents and one of them is Antarctica!  Picking one out of six is easy.”
This man is something else. You finally finish off his right side, and you gingerly set his arm down on the table.  With a mental pat on the back, you get ready for the next part of the routine.  In your softest therapist voice, you instruct, “Okay, go ahead and turn over and slide down until your head is on the table.”
Jimin obeys right away, shifting over and moving down.  The white sheet slips down his body a bit, and you diligently pull it up until it’s covering everything up to his neck.  During this, you feel rather than see his eyes on you, so you don’t dare yourself to look.
You go back to your plethora of containers to re-oil, and roll your chair to the foot of the table. All that time, Jimin thankfully has his eyes closed.
You were equal parts dreading and looking forward to this part of the massage since his face was going to be visible.  This way, you can’t escape the reality of the situation.
But you decided to follow the flow of the conversation.  You learned the subtle nuances of human communication throughout your experiences: when people wanted to talk or stay quiet, if they were liking the conversation or not, etc. Jimin seems to be fine with talking despite your assumption that he was going to be quiet for the most part.  It has definitely made this easier for you, though.
“I want to visit all seven continents one day,” you decide to admit.
“I do, too,” Jimin responds, eyes still closed. “How many do you have left?”
You start on his feet, working along the smooth skin.
“Uhh, well,” you whisper, “A good chunk. I’ve only been here and back where I’m from, and I just moved here around a year ago.”
After you tell Jimin where you were before, he sounds amazed, “You seem like you’ve lived here for so long. I wouldn’t have guessed.”
He’s definitely being nice.  You are just now getting decent at the language and customs, but there is still a lot you have to learn.
“But, I do want to start traveling again for a specific reason,” you divulge, sighing to yourself as you think yet again about your lofty dreams.
“Which reason is that,” Jimin asks, and you somehow know his eyes are open now.
Your own eyes betray you as you connect your gaze with his. “I want to experience different techniques in person.” You don’t know he can feel the fire behind your eyes. “There’s no better teacher than experience, at least to me. I know I’m good at what I do currently, but there’s so much out there that I want to learn and get better at.”
You debate whether to keep going or not.  Jimin’s eyes are alight with curiosity, so you take that as your cue. It’s surreal that you get to talk about your dream with him of all people, so you strive to make it count. “Take music, for example: everyone agrees that music is healing, therapeutic.  But, there’s so many genres, so many ways to create it.  I see massage as the same way: therapeutic, but many different ways to make people feel better.”
Jimin is silent as he tears his gaze from you to look at the ceiling. You concentrate on his ankles, working them as delicately but effectively as you can.  A part of you wants to keep talking, but you don’t want to push it. You may have said too much as it is.
The next song has soft chimes to accompany the rippling chords.  Lavender wafts through the air and quells your nerves.  You continue to Jimin’s lower legs and glide your fingers along the flow of his muscles.  When you feel a break or disturbance, you stop and tend to it until you feel it’s balanced.  After his lower legs are done, you move on to his thighs.  You feel tightness all over, and you apply medium pressure to these areas because of how much muscle they contain.
Jimin’s legs are a work of art on the outside, but so chaotic on the inside.  The chakra highways are disjointed, and you have worked through so many kinks in the roads.  If you imagine yourself as someone walking down a path, you are stopping every 10 steps to smooth over a pothole or breakdown a hill in the way.  You can’t see how this person can even walk, let alone perform on stage like this.  All of them never cease to amaze you.
“Where would you start?”
Jimin’s sudden inquiry throws you.  You swear he was silent for a good ten minutes.  “What?”
His eyes are glued to the ceiling still.  “Which places do you want to visit?  Like, where would you go to learn?”
“Well…”  You are almost too stunned to speak.  He has been thinking about what you said this whole time?  Aren’t there plenty of more important things he needs to be thinking about right now?  “There’s this technique called amma that originates in Japan, and there’s an American technique called esalen that I want to learn, too.  I think that one is from California.”
On a high from Park Jimin’s interest in your life, you ramble about a few more, your voice getting more animated the more you talk about different things.  It can’t be helped; you’ve been passionate about traveling and learning for so long.  You’ve just never been able to really try it since money was part of the equation.  Or more so out of the equation.  In addition, you didn’t really get to talk about it with anybody.  No one’s actually asked.  But somehow, Jimin did.
When you realize you actually stopped massaging his thigh, you look up in horror to apologize, “Oh, I am so sorry - I didn’t mean to stop.”
Jimin’s head is turned to the side, his hair falling into his eyes.  The smile gracing his face is soft.  “It’s okay,” he assures you, “I feel much better already anyways.”
Your cheeks flush before he even stops talking.  “That’s good,” you whisper, “We’re almost done so I would hope so.”
“What!” Jimin’s eyes dart to the clock on the table.  It’s already 8:50am.
That saddens you a lot more than it should.
“On second thought: I feel tense in my hand, I think you need to go back and redo it.  Here.”  He’s extending his right hand towards you as if to shake hands, and you laugh.
“Nice try, Jimin,” you say, “But I do need to work on your face for the last part.  Close your eyes for me, please.”
He stares at you for a second before obeying.  The smile from earlier makes a return.
You roll your chair back to the head of the bed and plop down.  Jimin’s face is angelic even upside-down, and you pray to the heavens that you massage it perfectly.
When you start, you quip, “See?  You’re so happy we’re almost done.”
“No, no!” Jimin laughs.  “That’s not it.  You just called me Jimin - it was nice.”
“Oh.”  You swear steam is billowing from your head.  How can he affect you so intensely?  And how were you keeping yourself together?
With the resolve of a thousand emperors, maybe including one you probably did save in a past life, you steady your hands on his temples.  Rubbing in delicate circles, you start the last segment.
Face massages are your favorite.  Even the smallest movements are invigorating, and you feel very refreshed after one.
“When I come back, Spa Concerto, No. 4 better be available.”
You smile.  There’s no way Jimin will be back, but you appreciate his friendly nature.
“It’s not even all that great, but I’ll let them know,” you play along. “I’m more of a piano person, though. There’s a lot of piano covers saved in my phone that are way better.”
Jimin’s eyes flash open at the same time he proclaims, “Ah, I love piano covers!  Especially on rainy days.”
“Mm,” you hum in agreement, “I can listen to those all the time.”
Your heart drops like a stone as you glance at the clock and see your time is up.  The hour absolutely flew by.  Dropping your eyes back onto Jimin’s face, you take your hands off his cheeks and say, “Okay, that’s the end of our session today.” You get up to dry your hands and lower arms with a cloth while going over the last steps, “I’ll leave you to get dressed, and I’ll come back to the room to give you water and some stretch and wellness recommendations moving forward. Just press the green button on the remote when you’re ready, like last time.”
When you turn back to him, Jimin’s fully propped up with his hands behind him. The blanket over him is draped across his body, just enough to cover his ribs.  He’s smiling right at you as he speaks, “Thank you.  You’re really good.”
You bow in thanks, face lighting up like wildfire. “You were great, too,” you comment in return, immediately cringing inside. “I’ll be back when you’re ready for me.”
-
Right after you leave clients is when you start filling out their evaluation and wellness recommendations on your tablet.  You just worked on them, so the memories are fresh.  The forms are a mix of multiple choice and fill-in, and you recommend some specific stretches and deeper pressure for Jimin.
This time, Jay is in the employee lounge when you come in to wait.  His legs uncross and he pops up from one of the modern loveseats that are just as firm as they look.  “She’s alive!”
You roll your eyes but can’t hide the flush in your cheeks.  “I’m here, but barely,” you chuckle, your tablet dangling in your hand by your side, “I still can’t believe that actually happened.”
Jay leans in so that no one can hear what he has to say, which makes you suspicious since there’s no one around you.  In a low voice, he reveals, “Yoon and I made a bet.”
“Wonderful,” you drawl, “I’m gonna walk away now.”  You can already tell this is one-hundred percent not in your favor.
“No, wait!” His whisper is loud. He bounces after you to the water and food station. While you fix yourself a cup, he continues, “Yoon thinks you’ll get done with the appointment unscathed, but I think you’ll come out of it with a problem.”
Jay’s words remind you like alarm bells.
You need to pay Jimin for damages.
“Oh, shit, I need to get something,” you say in a rush, grabbing your tablet off the food station and scurrying to the locker room.  In the wellness center, the employee lounge is in the back, and the locker room is in the back of the lounge.  You think you still have time before Jimin is ready.
There’s a notebook you keep in your bag along with a pencil case.  Tearing a sheet from the notebook, you write down what you think is a good estimate for the shoes.  Before you write anything else, you pause.
You only skimmed through the confidentiality prompts, but you do remember a section about personal information.  Therapists aren’t allowed to give out their personal information unless specifically asked, and there has to be solid intent behind the client asking.  Jimin didn’t need to ask you for yours; he just said not to worry about it.
After a good thirty seconds of your pen lingering above the paper, your tablet chimes.
A split second decision has you crumpling the paper and chucking it in your bag.  You tear out a new sheet and tuck it with the pen under your tablet as you head back to Room 3.
-
You get to the room with a paper cup of water you grabbed on the way, and since you have things in both hands it’s a bit difficult getting the door open.  You try the handle but it only jiggles a bit.  One more try has you pushing the door right as the handle gives, and it works.
Jimin goes to you immediately when he sees your hands full, and you almost reel back from having him so close.  Which should be odd, since you were literally just with him for a full hour, and he was not fully clothed.  In the end, his presence alone is enough to affect you no matter the situation.
You extend the cup to him and he grabs it with a small thank you.
“I filled out your evaluation and it should be printed at the front already.  Make sure to drink more water after you leave,” you say with a smile, your chest heavy.  This was most likely the last interaction you would ever have with him.
Jimin nods, his mask covering his smile but not his eyes.  He doesn’t say anything more.
You almost leave it at that, but something in you doesn’t want this moment to end, so you take your chance. “And, umm,” you stutter as you fumble with the pen and paper.  You just lay your tablet on the massage table to free your hand, and click the pen open.  “How much should I pay you,” you ask, your gaze ironically on the very shoes you tripped over earlier.
Jimin sets his cup down on the console table before taking the paper and pen from your hands.  You watch him write something - a price in Won most likely - as you explain, “I’m a big believer of making things right, so please let me pay for your shoes.  I should’ve seen them on the ground.”
He folds the paper and hands it back to you with the pen.  “If you insist.  But don’t check this until you get home.”
“What, why?”  Your eyes dart to his face.
Jimin stares at you before responding, “Nothing bad. It just might shock you.”
Immediately, your gaze lowers.  If you tell anyone how your day went today, you would think they were weird if they believed you. If you tell anyone why you’re suddenly broke come this Wednesday, they would be lying if they just went with it.  “Okay, I won’t,” you assure him, and you’re telling the truth.  You are equal parts surprised and nervous that he’s allowing you to pay him back.
With a deep breath, you give Jimin your best soft smile.  Your heart is hurting as you send him off, “Well, it was a pleasure.  Have a great rest of your day, Jimin.  Until next time.”  You catch yourself in a sea of emotion as your words die on your tongue.  The boys have schedules on schedules, so the likelihood of him stepping foot inside this wellness center again is minuscule at best.
If anything, you’re grateful that you get to address him by name, and you succeeded in making this as smooth and safe as possible for him.  At the expense of a scraped nose and hand, but rather you than him.
Jimin hoists his bag on his shoulder, the water cup you gave him already in the trash bin.  He walks right up to you and stands there, and you swear both of you can hear your heart beating.  One of his hands comes up to his masked face, and he speaks softly as he advises, “Ointment will help your nose if it still hurts.”
Warmth blooms in your chest and cascades all the way to your fingertips.  Mirroring him, you bring a hand up to your nose and nod.  Your words tumble out, “Oh, yes, you’re right.  I can check if we have any in the back.”
Satisfied, Jimin nods.  “Until next time,” he offers, his eyes creased and warm.
You smile again and bow slightly.  He puts on his shades before heading out the door frame and into the hall, and you feel emptiness in his wake.  The world is fuzzy around your vision and you are trying so hard to commit everything that just happened to memory.
Until the doors to front reception close, you watch Jimin’s retreating back.  When the frosted doors close shut, you close your own door to Room 3 and lean against the wooden frame.  The scrap of paper is creased in your hand as you clutch it to your hammering chest.
“Holy shit,” you whisper to yourself.  It takes a good minute for you to compose yourself before pushing off the door and getting the room stripped and ready for the next session.  The whole time, you replay everything in your head.
Jimin was just as nice as you have seen him through the lens of cameras.  If that was the case, all of them had to be the same way.  You are proud to like these wonderful people.
You’re so happy you got to actually spend all this time with him, but that just magnifies the sadness you feel when it’s over.
-
The room is done and cleaned up, and you go through the rest of the day on autopilot.  Not even Jay’s constant teasing could free you from your euphoria-numbed state.  The only thing that throws you back into focus is Yoon, and it happens at the very end of the work day.
You push open the doors to front reception, and smile big at your friend behind the counter.  She’s beaming right back at you, and she puts her chin in her hand and shakes her head.
“That must’ve been one hell of a message,” she says through a barely contained smile.
Your hand flies to your forehead and you nod.  “I can’t believe that happened, Yoon.  I mean, it was really him.  Opportunity of a lifetime… I just hope he enjoyed the whole thing.”
“You could say that,” she chuckles, “Enough to book you again, at least.”
What?
“He did?” Your breath leaves you in a rush.  “If you’re joking with me, I’ll--”
“--He did.  It’s not for a long time, but he asked for you specifically.”  Yoon gathers papers in her hand and starts to organize them in the containers behind her.  “You really piss me off, you know that?”
“Love you, too,” you whisper, your head completely above the clouds.  You grab your phone and start checking your schedule from the wellness center app you have installed.  Grabbing the door handle, you absentmindedly wave back to Yoon and call out, “I’ll see you tomorrow.”
The sun emits a golden glow at this hour, and the glass buildings along the street bask in its shine.  You head towards your bus stop while skimming your calendar for Jimin’s next appointment, but you’re already four months out and see nothing.  Not losing hope, you keep going and see a booking six months in advance.  Your heartbeat skips as you click on the appointment, and almost skids to a halt when you see his name written down.
-
As soon as you enter your small apartment, you head straight to your bed and drop your bag on the comforter.  Your whole body bounces as you plop yourself down next, and you stare straight at the ceiling.
Your life is still normal, right?  Sure, you were able to spend an entire hour with Park Jimin, but that didn’t mean you aren’t still completely and utterly average.
You close your eyes and go back to Room 3.  The scent of lavender fills your nostrils and you can still see his number tattoo as plain as day as you massage his wrist.
In all honesty, it still feels like a fever dream.  That was someone else’s life you were able to live, someone else there with Jimin and you just decided to hitch along for the ride.
But that was real, and so is the amount of money you still need to withdraw from your bank account.
With a sigh, you reach into your bag and take out the piece of paper.  You were dreading this moment all day since he left.  Unfolding it, you prepare for the worst.
But all you can do is stare.
Jimin didn’t write down a price at all.
Your name is at the top, and the rest is as follows:
Save your money for traveling and learning new things, not on me. I can’t wait to see what you’ve learned when we meet again.

Michael, stillllllll on Spanish mode: *Sniffs his nose at Jason's hand, shoving him out of the way with one arm like no thank you.*
~
Jennifer: Authority should derive from the consent of the governed. Not from the threat of force! // Or, alternatively which I think fits a whole lot better- // I am not going to stand back here and let another fucking old white guy tell me what the fuck to do!
Chucky and Freddy, two old white guys: *Look at each other*
Chucky:
Freddy:
Chucky and Freddy: *Shrug*
And that's it seeing as I don't really wanna see Toy Story 4. I hope you enjoyed this silly thing with me at least a little XD
Okay so I got a little attached in the end.

Okay so Liam might not be homophobic in the regards to being prejudice or discriminatory towards members of the LGBTQ+ community but there is certainly something to be addressed.
I’m sure you’ve heard of the controversy surrounding his song both ways (just in case you haven’t he has completely fetishised bisexuality in women and painted a women’s sexual identification as something only for him to enjoy sexually and has therefore profited off of it) and in this regard - submitting to micro aggressions and ultimately undermining something so significant to so many people which has already, through out history, been so attacked he is standing on the oppressors side. In this case the oppressors are homophobes.
And (although this is not an attack to you and I haven’t really researched too deeply into what it is the initial conversation was about) painting Liam as someone completely innocent here and skimming over this situation in particular is dangerous and a part of the issue.
I, as a queer women, was offended and shocked at liam’s behaviour and I just ask that people with platforms and followings like you take it into account before siding with him on subjects where he hasn’t been in the clear for a long time.
1.He has clarified that he did not write the song/had a big part in it.
2. The woman who wrote it was bisexual and apologized for not realizing that the song would come off the way it did.
3. Liam has supported the LGBTQ+ community numerous times like pairing up with adidas to sell a shoe collab where all the money went to help LGBTQ+ youth, Stood up against trumps anti trans agenda and clarified on social media how everyone is built equal and should be loved, and amongst other things. I suggest you go check out blogs like @insomniziam (sorry for always tagging you darling. I need to make some masterposts I swear.) and @ziamminds, @verseziam @yaz-the-spaz who have more detailed posts.
4. Just as you admitted that you haven’t looked deeply into it— do it. Don’t run with the sheep and cancel culture who just attack. The song was bad. I agree. But it’s clear as day that Liam never had a say in his album given all of his live streams on Instagram where he barely likes to speak of it or mentions it.
5. As an Asexual poc woman, I was shocked about the song. As a future lawyer, i am well aware to the fact that NO ONE is innocent in this world. People fuck up all the time But people grow from their mistakes. Not to mention that Liam is highly speculated to be apart of the LGBTQ community and has countless friends apart of it who if even if he wasn’t queer— they most likely spoke to him about the issues. If he never apologized with the song, I wouldn’t be fan of his like I am right now. But he took accountability. Me like many others accepted the apology. If you haven’t— that’s fine but don’t act like he hasn’t addressed the issue. It would be huge problem if he still performed the song unapologetically like he never has.
6. LP1 came out in 2019. Everyone who is remotely a Liam stan— or better yet apart of the fandom don’t live under a fucking rock and know about this situation. No one has forgotten about it. Especially after the day of his album release everyone who had an internet access knew what happened on Twitter where H*rries and Kp*p stans banned together even before they knew both ways was on the album.
What really broke my heart for him was that it was bad enough the album wasn’t what he wanted to put out, but my friend abroad met Liam the day of his album release signing and commented on how sad and distraught he looked but still managed to hold a smile for when he met her and everyone else.
In conclusion,
Liam Payne is by no means a squeaky clean innocent man— but so isn’t everyone else. Accountability should always be taken place and in this situation it already has been a long time ago. Name one celebrity out there who is. If you think there is one—- yikes. Time to touch some grass.
The people who I’ve seen that hate on Liam always bring up the song as a reason to call him homophobic but always fail to bring anything else up apart from the time where he joked about not wanting bear to be left with Harry for fashion choices which was such nitpick thing every stan took out of context. Yet they fail to also recognize that Liam has always supported all of the boys— especially Harry.
No one has to like Liam, but that doesn’t give free range to shit on him just because you stan someone else.

*Salted Caramel*(Steve Rogers x Platonic!Reader)
Warnings: mentions of anxiety and a very, very complicated parents-child relationship (I don’t know how to write warnings, I’m so sorry).
Summary: You have an anxiety attack one day and the First Avenger comes to the rescue. In a fatherly way, just to clarify, hehe.
A/N: Eeehh, I have no clue if any of this makes any sense, haha, but I’m not gonna lie, I wrote the fic I desperately needed, so anyways I hope you enjoy it, my lovelies. Also, know that if you ever need anyone to talk to, my dms are always open. :)
Tumblr media
You were the newest member of the Avengers and, although you’d only been part of the team for a couple of months, everybody had welcomed you with open arms. Nonetheless, you didn’t have as much opportunity to interact with them as you would’ve wished to, since you, not only being the newest member but also the youngest, still lived with your parents. Everybody had agreed that that was fine as long as you attended training sessions at the compound three times a week, which your parents agreed to. And now, even though you’d celebrated your 18th birthday a week ago, your living situation hadn’t changed much. At least not so far.
In spite of it all, the team had quickly embraced your presence in their lives and you felt more comfortable and at home with them than you’d ever felt with any of your relatives, including your parents. As a matter of fact, you didn’t really feel at home with your parents at all. Due to some issues from the past that had had its peak only a few months ago, the effect in the present was that your trust in them had broken completely and, even though you’d tried to fix the relationship several times along the years, the truth was that your parents kept letting you down constantly, making the damage irreparable by now.
This had taken a toll on your mental health and your anxiety had worsened a lot lately, nevertheless, telling your parents about it was obviously out of the question, and you didn’t want to bother the group of superheroes with such insignificant problems like yours. The world was in their hands, and in yours now too, you couldn’t make so much fuss about something like that.
Until the day you reached your breaking point.
Which sounds very dramatic, yet if you thought about it too much, you’d been through a lot worse before.
The circumstances and its specific details are irrelevant, the point is that, while you and your mother were having lunch, you had quite an intense anxiety attack. The kind you hadn’t had in a considerable amount of time.
Your hands started sweating, your heart began pounding inside your chest, making you feel like it could burst out of your ribcage at any given moment. Your breathing became shallow and quick, your lungs always asking for more air to breathe in, and a weird sensation that felt very much like losing ground and any sort of control over your life and yourself invaded you. At one point you even thought you’d pass out, but fortunately you didn’t.
You had to get out of there, fast.
So you told your mother that oh, crap, you’d just now remembered that you had a training session with the Avengers that afternoon, so you really had to get going. And without another word, not even waiting for a response from her, you took your phone and nothing more, and exited the house.
Once outside you walked aimlessly, trying to get as much air into your lungs as you could in an attempt to calm down. A million thoughts were rushing through your head, making you feel slightly dizzy, but you tried with all your might to concentrate on your inhalations and exhalations. After several minutes, you started feeling the tension in your whole body loosen up a bit, your breathing becoming steadier and your train of thoughts no longer on the verge of crashing. However, you still felt the urgent need to talk to somebody. Yes, the last thing you wanted to do was bother any of the earth's mightiest heroes with your problems, but this really seemed to be the last straw for you.
Therefore, you unlocked your phone and called the first person you could think of.
“(Y/N)?” Steve Rogers’ voice called from the other side of the line.
“Uh… Hi.” you said hesitantly, with a remaining shakiness in your voice that certainly didn’t go unnoticed by Steve.
“Are you okay? What’s wrong?” he asked preoccupied, and you could almost picture the expression on his face: the furrowed brows, the worry reflecting in his blue eyes.
“I, um, I’m… I’m fine, I just… I just needed to talk to someone. I’m sorry, I shouldn't be bothering you with this.”
“No, no, you’re not bothering at all. What happened? Where are you, at your house?”
“Umm, no, not exactly, I’m… I’m a couple of blocks away, but…”
“Oh, okay. Do you want me to go there, or maybe meet somewhere, so we can talk?”
“I-,” tears started gathering in your eyes, making everything around you blurry, but you weren’t exactly crying out of sadness, “I don’t want to be a burden, really, I’m so sorry, I just wanted to hear your voice…” you mumbled, your voice cracking.
“(Y/N), you’re not a burden. Whatever happened, if it’s important to you then it’s important to me, okay? We can talk. Just tell me where and I’ll be on my way.”
“Why are you being so nice to me? You barely know me…,” you sniffled, tears rolling down your cheeks now, a sign of how moved you were by Steve’s kindness. He didn’t have to do all that, leave the compound to go meet with you somewhere, to listen to a problem that had nothing to do with him, but he was willing to do it nonetheless.
“Because I care for you. Even if you haven’t been part of the team for as long as the rest of us, you are family now. And families are always there for each other,” he stated softly but with determination.
“Thank you…,” you whispered, feeling like not all the thank you’s in the world could express how grateful you were to the man. “Um, well, there’s… There’s a small coffee shop relatively near here, I guess we could… we could meet there… if it isn’t much trouble,” you added.
“Sounds good. Can you send me the address?”
“Sure.”
“And text me when you get there, all right?”
“Yeah, I… I will. Thank you, Steve. Really.”
“Don’t worry about it, kiddo.” You smiled to yourself, feeling another wave of tears coming up. “And, hey,” he added, “it’s okay. It’s gonna be okay.”
_________________________
Minutes later, you were at the coffee shop, sitting at a small table for two by the window. It was a lovely place you’d discovered at the beginning of the year, one day you were wandering aimlessly around your neighbourhood. The food was quite tasty in general, and both the place and the people who worked there gave off a very warm and cosy vibe, the type you only feel during Christmas, sitting in front of the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa in your hands.
You’d already texted Steve to let him know you’d arrived, and now all you had to do was wait for him to get there. According to him, he was just about to.
And it was true, because a moment later you saw the tall, blond-haired man enter the establishment and search for you with his eyes. He finally spotted you, and you were able to notice, even from a distance, how his expression softened, while he made his way towards you.
“Hey,” you muttered standing up, still ashamed that you’d made the superhero travel all the way there for such a mundane reason.
“Hey,” he greeted you back with a soft smile, before sitting down on his chair, prompting you to do the same, “so… What happened, kiddo?”
You sighed. “Well, I just… I, um… may or may not have had… um, an anxiety attack…,” you could feel your face heating up due to the embarrassment you felt by admitting it to somebody else. An anxiety attack. Pfff. It felt so absurd now, making such a big deal out of it when there were clearly more important things…
“An anxiety attack?” Steve asked, tilting his head to one side in that particular way of his. His ocean eyes were overflowing with kindness, and that single-handedly was more than enough to make you want to cry again. Your heart was definitely not used to such a level of sympathy.
“Yeah…,” you breathed, your eyes starting to water up once more.
“Does it happen to you very often?”
“Umm, not exactly, I don’t know… It’s… It’s been happening with more frequency lately, but… I-I don’t know, it’s… it’s complicated. I mean,” you sighed again, “I’ve… I’ve lived my whole life... with anxiety and, well, I know there isn’t an actual cure for it, but I’ve… I’ve learnt to handle it, more or less, it’s just…”
At that moment, a waiter walked up to your table and asked if you wanted to order anything. You wiped the few tears that had escaped your eyes as discreetly as you could, hoping the waiter wouldn’t notice anything. As a matter of fact, you were embarrassed by letting yourself cry in front of Steve too, but at this point you couldn’t really help it. The superhero looked at you inquiringly.
“Have you eaten already? Do you want anything?”
“Um, yeah... yeah, I have… Uh… no, I don’t know... if you want anything… I can tell you that the salted caramel frappe is really good,” you offered him a small smile.
“Is that so?” He smiled too. “Well… I’ll have one if you have one. If that’s okay.”
You chuckled lightly. “Okay. It’s a deal.”
“All right then, two... salted caramel frappes? Please.”
“Sure,” the waiter wrote it down on his notepad and gave you both a warm smile, “I’ll be right back.”
“Thank you,” you and Steve said in unison.
“So,” he began, “you said your anxiety attacks have been happening more frequently lately. What do you mean lately? Is there a specific reason? Is it because of the Avengers?”
“What? No, no, not at all, you’re actually kind of my escape from everything… Umm, it’s complicated…,” you let out another sigh and proceeded to explain the situation to Steve, at first hesitantly, but after a while you were capable of talking a bit more freely.
You told him about your parents, about how you no longer felt at home in your own house and how the trust you ever had on your mother and father had been broken. How the comfort they were supposed to provide you was long gone and, in spite of your past efforts, it always ended unfavourably. It wasn’t easy, not in the slightest, nevertheless, as you kept talking, you could feel a heaviness being lifted from your shoulders, one that you didn’t even know was there in the first place. And, yes, the possibility of things ending badly even now was still there, but Steve’s expression, his whole energy made you feel safe in a way you hadn’t felt for way too long. So you might as well give it a try and get this off your chest once and for all.
Not long after you started talking did your beverages arrive and you both thanked the waiter before you continued.
He listened to you attentively. Never interrupted you, waited patiently for you to go on every single time you paused to take a breath or sigh or calm yourself down, never pushing you to keep talking. His furrowed brow reflected his worry for you, but it was in an understanding and serene way. He was glad you were finally telling all this to somebody and felt honoured that from all people you’d trusted him. He was perfectly aware that you were opening up to him and the last thing he wanted to do was make you feel like your emotions were invalid or unimportant. So he kept listening until you finished, and then waited a few seconds more, letting you sip on your frappe, before he spoke.
“I gotta ask, is that the reason why you go to the compound more than the necessary three times a week?”
Touché. You’d been constantly lying to your parents, telling them you had training sessions almost daily, or making random yet believable excuses so you could get out of your house and spend more time with the people who actually made you feel good.
You simply nodded to confirm Steve’s suspicions.
“It’s okay, (Y/N), I understand, I really do. Families can be tough sometimes, and people may disagree with what I’m about to say, but you don’t really owe your parents anything, especially after the way they’ve made you feel. It might sound like a bold stance, particularly for someone as old-fashioned as me, but as the saying goes “the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb”. You’re not obliged to like your parents, let alone if they have had abusive conducts towards you. Now, in addition to that, it doesn’t have to be a greek tragedy for it to be valid. If something makes you feel bad or uncomfortable in any way, if it hurts you, then it does and that’s it. Other’s don’t get to say whether they hurt you or not, only you do,” he made a pause, pondering what to say next, ”Maybe someday your relationship with your parents can be rescued, or maybe not. Both things are fine, as long as it’s what makes you feel better. For now, however, I think we should find a quick and satisfactory solution to the problem, so why don’t you come live in the compound with all of us? You’re an adult now, you don’t need your parents’ permission,” the blue-eyed man offered you a sweet lopsided smile full of warmth, a tiny hint of fear that went unnoticed by you sparkling in his eyes, since he wasn’t sure of what impact his words had had on you. He was hoping he’d said the right thing, but he was terrified of the possibility that he’d screwed up.
Nevertheless, his fear couldn’t be further from the truth. Steve’s speech had reassured you profoundly, reinforcing that sense of safety of yours that had already started to develop around him and the rest of the Avengers. You lacked words to express how grateful you were towards him, but this man would always have your eternal gratitude. Needless to say, tears were streaming down your cheeks as quietly as you could keep them, your heart overwhelmed by the tenderness and the understanding he was offering you.
“I-,” you began, but your sobs became too much for you to contain and you broke down crying. Still, you tried to articulate your thoughts as best you could,” I’m sorry, it’s just… nobody had ever been so understanding with me and… and had ever comforted me so much in my life… you’re being so kind to me I… I honestly can’t thank you enough… I don’t even know what to say, I’m so sorry, I’m so lame...”
“You’re not,” Steve assured you softly, placing his hand over the one you had on the table. How were you supposed to stop crying if everything he did filled you with a sensation of comfort you’d lost a long time ago?
“Thank you,” you sniffled, wiping your tears clumsily with your free hand, “Thank you. And… yeah, I’d… I’d absolutely love to live with all of you at the compound. But will it be okay for everybody?”
“Of course! I told you, you’re part of the family now. We would all love to have you there with us, kiddo. We simply have to tell Tony, he’s the one in charge of that sort of stuff. And, of course, let your parents know. If you want, we can go to the compound right now and tell him. I’ll be there with you if you need me to. Both with Tony and with your parents.” Steve gave you a loving smile. His heart felt so relieved now knowing that his words hadn’t been a mistake.
“Okay, yeah… That… That would be nice. I told my mother I had a training session, so she won’t expect me to be back until later.”
“All right then, perfect,” he said, before taking another sip of his frappe, which had been reduced by half by now. Yours was almost untouched, but only because you’d been too busy speaking. Or crying. Or both. “By the way,” he added, “you were right, this thing is really good.”
You giggled. “I’m glad you liked it.”
Steve motioned the waiter to ask for the bill and once it was paid (he of course didn’t let you pay for your drink no matter how much you insisted), you both stood up from your seats, grabbing the remains of your frappes.
“Steve,” you called, making him turn back to look at you attentively once again, “thank you. So, so much. For everything,” you expressed with as much sentiment and gratitude as you were capable of. He was definitely the best man you’d ever met in your life. And that was saying something, having in mind that you’d met all the Avengers.
“Come here,” Steve said with a smile, his arms open, asking for a hug. You did as you were told, a wide smile now plastered on your lovely face. Yeah, it was a bit swollen from the crying, but it was still lovely.
To be honest, all you wanted to do at that moment was to keep hugging him and never ever let go; nonetheless, you knew that wasn't possible and eventually you'd have to break the hug. So for now, you breathed deeply, inhaling Steve’s scent (he smelled like bar soap and clean laundry, with a small touch of cinnamon), and you let yourself enjoy every second of that warm and strong embrace, and its newly found feeling of home.

In what instances would ICURE fail to change someone's beliefs? Would access to outside information or (not very good at their jobs) guards discussing events without tact help someone realise something fishy was going on?
Very broad question without clear, satisfying answers Anon.
 Basically: there is no guaranteed way to change a person’s mind. There are strategies we know can’t work. But everything that has a chance of success also has a chance of failure. And it isn’t a clear cut thing that I can give you a clean list of factors for.
 Humans are difficult creatures to study because they come with a lot of inbuilt confounding factors and individual variation. This makes it very difficult to identify clear reasons why something didn’t work. Because we have to assume that multiple factors are at work and the interaction of those factors may be as important as each factor individually.
 Even if you write your villains performing ICURE ‘perfectly’ there is still a chance of failure. And therefore it is realistic for you to decide it fails for this character.
 We can’t really study which ‘bits’ of ICURE are most effective. Partly because of that little thing called ethics but partly because setting up a study would be incredibly difficult. It’s hard enough to measure belief. Finding a large enough sample size, controlling for every possible confounding factor or variable and studying people for the years it would take to get any answers… It’s a big ask. It’s probably never going to happen.
 So with the caveat that we can’t tell if any of the parts of ICURE are more important let’s talk about how they can break down.
 ICURE, for everyone who hasn’t heard me talk about it before, is a set of techniques which can (sometimes) be used to manipulate a person into changing their views. They take months or years to have any real effect and as mentioned they’re not always successful.
 The acronym stands for Isolate, Control information, create Uncertainty, Repetition and Emotive responses. And if you’re writing a story where villains are trying to apply this but not doing it well it can break down at literally any one of these points.
 I would say based on what I’ve read that different groups focus more heavily on different aspects depending on their setting and strategy. Groups that are straight up kidnapping or imprisoning people often seem to focus more heavily on isolation and controlling information but often fall down on the other three. Whereas the impression I get of cults and some extremist political groups is that they focus more on creating uncertainty and emotive responses, which they can then use to further isolate members from family and friends.
 Controlling information is a common place for ICURE to break down nowadays. The rise of the internet and the decreasing size of devices has made it easier for victims to access unauthorised sources even when imprisoned.
 But repetition is also a very common place for ICURE to break down because in large groups not every individual is going to follow the same script perfectly. Group members can also undermine ICURE by lashing out, physically or verbally, driving their target away.
 Creating uncertainty doesn’t always work. Sometimes victims straight up do not believe what they’re told. Some attempts to create uncertainty around core beliefs lead to a knee-jerk rejection of what’s being said. Sometimes targets know more about a given subject then the person trying to create uncertainty and as a result the attempt is absurdly obvious.
 Emotive responses are similarly… charged. Attempting to instil a sense of disgust or rejection of something an individual supports won’t always work. Over a long period of time it can. But I can think of a lot of cases where it has instead taught individuals to lie to the group, hide their beliefs or activities and served to drive them away from the group.
 Isolation is either difficult or easy depending on the context of the story. A character who is in a literal prison can easily be isolated from anyone but vetted individuals. A character who has been targetted by a cult, but is still going about normal day to day business, is a lot harder to isolate completely.
 Cults and extremist groups tend to rely on uncertainty, repetition and emotive responses because they know that if they can shift a target’s beliefs the target will isolate themselves.
 Let me give you an example to illustrate this. Imagine a country where there’s a big, culturally important celebration that involves eating candied orange peel and wearing red. Now imagine a cult within the country that rejects candy as sinful and wearing red as a sign of bad character.
 A character targetted by this cult might feel increasingly uncomfortable with this festival. May be at first they go with their friends and family, wear red but don’t eat the candied orange peel. May be the year after they decide not to go, missing a chance to spend time with their friends and family. May be a few years later their rejection of the festival is so deep they try to persuade their friends and family not to go.
 This leads to a big argument. They and their friends/family say things in the heat of the moment. Now all sides are upset and communication becomes harder.
 These kinds of patterns of behaviour lead to the target isolating themselves from friends and family, as their views become more extreme and drive away people who aren’t members of the cult.
 But crucially they can still choose to socialise with people outside of the cult. This will probably be met with social censure from the cult, making it difficult and painful. It is still possible. And outside friendships or activities can help a person to break free or resist ICURE techniques.
 All of this basically means you have a lot of options for your story because there are plenty of things you can weave in that would undermine ICURE.
 Your character is in prison, so breaking isolation is more difficult. But if the prison is overcrowded or there’s a sudden influx of people being transferred between facilities the character might end up with a… poor choice of cell mate from the guard’s perspective. Some one with beliefs radically opposed to the guards or someone who could support and shore up the character’s old beliefs.
 There may also be opportunities for covert communication and bonding within the prison. Perhaps prisoners can gather during breaks and have worked out a cant or code to talk about beliefs the guards are trying to stamp out.
 Control of information can break down because isolation has broken down, with prisoners trading information. It can also happen through the prisoner trading for a phone or a similar item allowing them to access forbidden information. Or it can happen through things like guards inadvertently giving out information.
 Uncertainty is difficult to create around core beliefs. The impression I get from anecdotal accounts is that pushing too hard at core beliefs too early often causes targets to withdraw from the people attempting ICURE. It can also lead to targets doubling down on their beliefs.
 People attempting ICURE can also mess up on creating uncertainty, as described above.
 Repetition can break down because guards don’t all do or say the same things consistently. They could contradict each other. Or they might just not repeat the same thing very often.
 Emotive responses can break down in much the same way creating uncertainty does. Not everyone responds emotionally to the same things or in the same way. Once again different guards can undermine the desired response. The character might dig in to their original position, they might withdraw from the people attempting ICURE. They might just learn to lie to them.
 I think as a writer the best approach to this is to use a mix of internal and external factors effecting multiple parts of ICURE. Just because I think that would create a better story.
 The readers can see the internal struggle and resistance in the character. They can also see the guards messing up and how that impacts the character. May be the importance of support from other people, fellow prisoners or cleaning staff or doctors or anyone else that fits with the setting.
 Basically including multiple elements will give you a more fleshed out story with more emotional depth and impact. That’s a good narrative reason to include it.
 I hope that helps. :)

Hi! I'm a hearing person so I have a few questions about how to write d/Deaf characters. 1) How do I describe the difference in what someone can hear with and without their HAs? 2) Is someone who was born d/Deaf less likely to get HAs compared to someone who lost their hearing later in life? 3) Would a person who uses HAs be more likely to sign or speak when communicating with family members? I hope none of these questions are insensitive as that is in no way my intention. Thanks for the help!
Differences between sound with and without HAs
(Here’s another ask on the topic of describing from a deaf POV)
How someone hears with and without their hearing aids will vary depending on their base levels of hearing to start with. I can certainly tell you about my experiences, but you should do some further research on your own to get a richer and more nuanced understanding. YouTube is a great place to start. I always recommend Jessica Kellgren-Fozard’s videos, and there's also this short film:
youtube
Some key highlights:
0:25 - In this sequence, she orders a coffee. Note how the cashier's voice is entirely indistinct mumbling. That's exactly what it's like for me at times.
4:07 - sitting around a table when everyone is talking. The voices overlap indistinguishably into a muddy sound-soup, and reading the lips is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot.
► SOUND WITHOUT HEARING AIDS
Basic rule of thumb for describing sound without HAs is that things are much quieter. Certain sounds may seem muffled, distant, or plain old too soft to hear. I describe HA-less sound as being flat: I can sort of pick up on the sound, but it lacks depth and volume.
Some noises, such as car alarms, go in and out of my hearing range. You know when a noise is very far away, and you think you can hear it but you're not sure what, exactly, you're hearing? That's what it's like for me without HAs, except it's all sound, no matter how distant the source (and my distance range is much, much shorter).
My ability to differentiate sounds and voices is severely impaired without hearing aids, so I’m genuinely be unable to tell whether that's my mum calling from the next room, or Jeremy Vine on the radio in this room. (And I wouldn't be able to tell what either is saying). It's also much harder to tell where a sound is coming from, although this is impacted by the uneven levels of residual hearing in each ear, so mileage may vary depending on type of hearing loss.
► WITH HEARING AIDS
The baseline is: HAs make things louder. It's like glasses except for ears, meaning sound is clearer (louder) and better defined. Be sure to research the type your character might use. It’s also a good idea to understand what hearing aids actually do. Here's an article about how hearing aids work.
No two HA-users will hear things in exactly the same way, and there are compounding factors, i.e., how often someone uses the HA(s) (how accustomed they are to them), HA strength and features, and levels of hearing. Different HA models have different specifications, so things will sound slightly different through them. Some of the most powerful and high-spec HAs have a multitude of settings for everything from music, to nature, to crowded spaces, and the sound through each is different because the receiver inside the HA is focusing on different things.
The transition from "everything is quiet, muffled and uneven" to "noise is loud noise is everywhere so much noise" is a big one! When someone first gets a new HA, the audiologist usually recommends wearing it in short stints and building up endurance. I barely use my HAs since I left college, so I'm poorly adjusted to them and get overwhelmed. A character who uses HAs regularly (i.e., daily, for hours at a time, or near-constantly), would obviously notice the difference, but wouldn't focus heavily on it.
You should also consider HA feedback. When HAs work well and the wearer is adjusted to them, it's a smooth ride – until something causes feedback. When that happens, it's like having two little demons screeching in your ears. Loud noises and extreme pitch ranges can cause feedback, which may be a slight buzz or a full-on loud screech. A dog barking or a car backfiring can make my HAs buzz for a solid few seconds, and too much input (i.e., speech and music in a crowded, echoey place) will make them crackle so the sound gets distorted.
How likely is your character to use hearing aids and/or sign language?
Whether someone uses HAs and/or sign language is entirely down to personal preference. Deaf culture is about celebrating deafness without trying to live up to the standards of a hearing world. This doesn't mean nobody in Deaf culture wears HAs or implants, or that every single Deaf person uses sign language instead of verbal. It just means Deaf culture puts emphasis on the Deaf person's autonomy and right to choose without being pressed by hearing society. Therefore, many Deaf people who have been deaf since birth or an early age choose to speak sign language and forgo HAs because they find that route liberating. This isn’t the same for everyone, though.
There’s also the concept of "mainstreaming" to consider. Essentially, it's when a Deaf child is trained to fit into the Hearing world. This can include speech therapy to encourage verbal speech instead of sign language, hearing aids, cochlear implants, and attendance of a mainstream school instead of one for d/Deaf students. Many children who are Deaf from birth or a very young age get mainstreamed, usually because it is presented as a more "desirable" option. Here’s an ask answer about mainstreaming (in the context of cohclear implants).
That's not to say all parents do this, though! It's also true that many Deaf children are allowed to make their own choices. Consider your character's backstory and circumstances, and decide for yourself if they would use HAs and sign language. There's no right or wrong choice! Someone who uses HAs is still Deaf, they just choose to use an aid.
Different circumstances will colour a person's decisions about sign language use and hearing aids, however. Although there are many overlaps in the struggles faced by all HoH and deaf people, going deaf later in life is a very different experience. Those of us who are born deaf are... well, we're deaf. Plain and simple. It's a fact of our existence. But losing hearing is, as the phrase suggests, a loss. Generally speaking, most people want to rectify that loss, (and I think it's very cool modern medical technology allows that).
Basically, there's no "wrong" way to write a Deaf character when it comes to them using HAs and sign language. The Deaf community isn't a monolith, and we all make our own choices about signing and aid usage.
Hope this helps! (^人^)

Honest Love Part 6 || Cale Makar
Tumblr media
Requested: [ ] yes [x] no
Authors Note:  I finally got through this chapter!!! Happy dance!!! This first segment is one of my favorite pieces of this whole story so I hope you love it as much as I do. The other two were a little harder so I hope you enjoy what I came up with to flush this chapter out.
Recap: Part 4 was the pregnancy announcement to Cale, Part 5 was Cale’s birthday.
Warnings: cavities? This chapter is a little sweet. Mentions of drinking/tipsiness on Cale’s part.
Word Count: 3,336
~~~~~
The fact that Cale’s birthday butted up against Halloween was always something you’d enjoyed growing up. It was almost like a perfect 2 for 1 deal - cake and ice cream one day, boatloads of candy the next. It was the innocent things you liked most about Halloween: the cute kids costumes, candy in excess, pumpkin carving, and corn mazes. Which was why today’s plans were perfect. Cale had gone for a quick practice and then around lunchtime the team was meeting at a farm that had a huge corn maze, hay rides, and lots of family friendly activities for the whole team and their families to enjoy.
Then, after a break for trick or treating and dinner and naps, the adults were all having an adult costume party at Gabe and Mel’s full of drinking and just laid back fun. Of course, Cale was going to be the only one doing any drinking tonight, but you were going to play that off as just being the designated driver since it was kind of a birthday celebration for him in a way as well. Hopefully that would keep the team off of your scent as you and Cale weren’t ready to share the news of your pregnancy just yet, especially since neither set of parents had been looped in.
Knowing it was going to be a late night, you were lounging on the couch trying to rest and catch up on some work you were behind on when Cale came sauntering through the door, a bright smile bringing those dimples alive. A short but sweet kiss on your lips made you smile and as you carded your fingers through his hair you felt him slide your computer out of the way, his fingers brushing against your shirt. Assuming he was just saying a silent hello to the baby you didn’t think anything of it until you felt him press something onto your skin before pulling away.
Looking down, your face crinkled with confusion when you spotted a tiny pumpkin sticker attached to your flat stomach.
“Why?” You asked softly, beyond confused by what was running through your boyfriend’s head right now. Cale’s cheeks flushed but his smile never wavered as he moved into the kitchen to grab a sports drink.
“The guys were all talking about their kids costumes.” He mumbled softly between sips. “And they all sounded so cute. I thought about what we’re going to dress our baby up as next year but then I thought why wait. I know it’s a little bit big, but baby will grow into it. I’ve got skeleton stickers too but I figured that was a little too close to reality right now and therefore not really a costume.” He explained, shrugging.
Immediately tears filled your eyes because that might just be the cutest damn thing Cale has ever said. He really went out and got stickers just so your unborn baby could have a ‘costume’ for Halloween. Wiping at your eyes you just looked up at him in awe.
“You went out and bought stickers so our unborn baby could have a Halloween costume?” You repeated in confirmation. Cale’s cheeks flushed deeper and he mumbles that maybe it was a stupid idea. Shaking your head, you moved to stand and pull him into a hug and kiss, your shirt still pushed up to your rib cage.
“It’s not stupid.” You assured him. “It’s endearing and probably one of the cutest things you’ve ever done.” Tipping up to kiss him you tried to reassure him. “Take a picture of our little pumpkin?” You questioned. “We have to capture baby’s first Halloween after all.” You urged. There wasn’t a bump or any physical sign that there was a baby growing inside of you but that didn’t mean that you couldn’t take a picture. Even if no one else ever saw it, you wanted to be able to look back at this memory because it would be your baby’s first picture and a reminder of how in love Cale had been with your son or daughter right from the very start.
Though he seemed a bit reluctant, Cale nodded and moved to take a few pictures of your stickered stomach before putting his phone away. Tucking your shirt down over the sticker, leaving it intact, you moved to kiss Cale again asking if he was about ready to head out to the farm for the team family event.  With a few more reassuring kisses, Cale settled again and finally murmured that he just needed to change. You were ready yourself having gotten dressed earlier before you tried to talk yourself out of it by making excuses. You wanted to go spend the day with the team and with Cale and you certainly didn’t want to miss out on the inside jokes that were bound to crop up throughout.
_____
Almost an hour later, Cale finally pulled the car into the farm where the team was meeting, and the feeling of the vehicle stopping for good pulled you from the little cat nap you’d been taking in the passenger seat. Cale looked over, familiar concern visible on his face, but you quickly assured him that you were good and you just needed a moment to fix your mussed hair before you could go join everyone. Cale cupped your cheek, kissing you softly before he moved to climb out of the car to stretch while you fixed a few stray hairs and flattened out your top, finally exiting the vehicle yourself.
Though you’d just seen everyone last night, enthusiastic greetings were still exchanged and you hugged everyone before returning to your spot at Cale’s side, his hand resting along the curve of your spine. After some bickering from the boys about what they wanted to do, it was agreed that you’d start with hayrides before coming back down for the corn maze and everything else. You’d forgotten just how raucous team events could be, but it was definitely a good time, especially watching the kids run around laughing and having fun. For just a moment, you let your mind slip into daydreams about how that would be your little one laughing and exploring next year, hopefully with cheeks pink from the chill in the air.
After the hayride which had you fighting back just a little bit of nausea, the Calvert boys pulled you and Cale into the smaller corn maze designed for kids making it a race to see how quickly they could get through it. Gabe, Mel, and Linnea joined in and you smiled watching Linnea toddle along through the corn amazed at how tall it was but fearless so long as her daddy was right behind her. Being that it was a kids’ maze it didn’t take long to complete but it was fun all the same as Gabe helped Linnea and Cale helped the Calvert kids get all their stamps to get their prize of a candy or small toy at the end. And thankfully being back on solid ground had quelled the nausea you’d felt, leaving you feeling good once more.
As you finished the maze with the kids, Josty, JT, and Burky were racing over to pull Cale into their group to do the big corn maze as bets had been made that they could beat some of the other guys and their better halves. Assuring Cale that he should go, you murmured that you would hang out and maybe do some shopping of the farm fresh produce and that he should leave you keys. Looking over you saw Gabe and Matt being pulled to join other groups and you smiled to yourself as Mel and Courtney moved over to you with Mel holding Linnea but no sign of the Calvert boys who had insisted that they were now corn maze pros and had to go with their dad.
“So how was Cale’s birthday?” Courtney asked, a teasing expression on her face.
“It was good.” You replied. “He seemed to enjoy his dinner and presents so I’m happy.” Mel just sent you a teasing look like I’m sure he did enjoy his presents before speaking softly to Linnea who was babbling away. Ignoring the look you mentioned doing some produce shopping while you were here and when they both agreed, you headed over to the market portion of the farm to get some things for your respective households. Getting some fresh squash, apples, and of course some kale as well as pumpkin chai tea mix, apple butter, and some seasoned pumpkin seeds you loaded up the car before moving to meet back up with the girls. Courtney had three containers of ice cream in her hands while Mel held a tray of steaming disposable mugs in her off hand and they motioned for you to join them at a table.
“Apple pie ice cream.” Courtney stated, answering your non-verbal question. “And then some chai lattes made with fresh farm honey to ward off the chill.” Mel added getting herself situated with Linnea. Both treats were incredibly good and you thanked them as you tried the ice cream nearly moaning at how good it was. Mel couldn’t help but laugh at the look on your face and she murmured that they sell it by the quart too if you wanted to pick some up on your way home to put in the freezer.
“Yeah. I might have to do that.” You mumbled between bites because it was so good.
Chatting with the girls about various things while you enjoyed your treats and waited for the guys to find their way out of the corn maze, you couldn’t help but think that this was a pretty great found family to bring a baby into. It wasn’t long before Linnea squirmed her way out of her mommy’s arms before toddling around the table to you asking you to pick her up. Snuggling the toddler happily, you teased your fingers through her hair murmuring that the only way Cale’s group wasn’t the last one out was if your boyfriend single handedly got them through it.
Turns out that was definitely not the case and they were one of the last groups out following significantly behind Gabe and Matt’s group. You couldn’t help but laugh to yourself at that, still snuggling the baby girl who refused to move from your lap even when her daddy returned. You joked with Gabe that you were stealing her and he joked back that he was sure that his young defenseman probably wouldn’t have any complaints about that. Evidently it wasn’t just the better halves that were under the impression that Cale was thinking about kids. It made keeping the little secret growing inside you that much harder but also that much more worth it.
You were chatting with Linnea about her current favorite Disney movie when your boyfriend appeared, dropping a kiss to your head as he flopped onto the picnic table bench beside you. The little girl’s face lit up at his presence and she smiled at him just watching him, everything that she had been babbling about forgotten.
“Did you have fun?” You asked him, giggling softly when his response was primarily a groan. Reaching out to pick a piece of corn husk out of his hair you brushed a thumb over his red cheek murmuring that next time you’d have to go with to rein the boys in. Of course, next time you’d have a tiny baby with you so that may or may not happen but Cale got the point you were trying to convey.
After mingling with the team for a little while longer, groups started to disburse and Cale asked if you were ready to head home for a bit. Nodding, you passed a sleepy Linnea back to her daddy murmuring that she was going to nap well on the way home. Then, taking Cale’s hand you pulled yourself up from the table and sighed softly as his hands grazed your hips because they were just a bit sore from the hard bench.
“We need to get a quart of ice cream before we go.” You murmured, pouting softly when he commented on how it would melt during the drive. “Even melted it would be good.” You insisted, pleading softly until he gave in and got a quart of ice cream packed into an empty plastic flower pot with some ice.
“Lucky I love you.” He murmured softly, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
“Once you taste it you’ll agree it’s worth it.” You assured him, stealing one more kiss before heading back out to the car.
You fell asleep on the drive home, only waking when Cale unbuckled you and was moving to lift you out of the car. Though you murmured you could walk, he insisted that he had you and with your arms wrapped around his neck, it wasn’t long before you were settled onto your comfortable mattress while Cale pulled your shoes off your feet whispering for you to nap while he brought everything else upstairs.
And nap you did.
_____
The sun had set by the time you woke up to Cale’s lips kissing your temple and his fingers sliding along your side.
“I made dinner.” He stated softly as you nodded and worked your way into a seated position.
“Dinner sounds good.” You agreed, blinking at him tiredly. Cale offered a hand out to help you up and you took it, sliding onto your feet to follow him out into the kitchen. It wasn’t anything complex but it smelled good and that was really all that mattered to you. “Thanks for dinner.”
Cale brushed your thanks off, directing you to dig in. After a moment he questioned whether you still wanted to go tonight or whether you wanted to stay home. You knew the choice was honestly up to you but at the same time you couldn’t not show because that would raise way too many questions you didn’t want to answer yet.
“You know we have to go.” You replied softly between bites. “I promise I’m okay.” You added. “I’m just still waking up but that was a good nap. Let me get this food and a shower in me and I’ll be just fine.” The ever present look of concern was on your boyfriend’s face and you reached a hand across the table to squeeze his. “Promise. I’m good.” You repeated. “We’re going to go and you’re going to have a good time drinking with the guys so I can be the designated driver without any questions.” Cale hesitated before nodding and you knew that you were going to need to assure him again later that you were really okay.
You asked him to tell you about his afternoon and you talked about shopping for produce and spending time with the girls and Linnea.
“You’re really cute with her, you know that right?” He asked, taking a sip of his water. “Makes me excited to see you as a mom to our baby. She adores you.”
“You mean like the Calvert boys adore you?” You grin. “Little pumpkin already has the best daddy.” The ways Cale’s cheeks flushed made you smile and you nudged your legs against his under the table before focusing on your plate once more.
After dinner you moved to shower and then start to get ready for the Halloween party. Standing at the foot of your bed, you slid stockings up your legs before putting on a red skirt. Cale came into the room when you were pulling on the tight blue shirt with a maroon and gold ‘s’ emblazoned on the front. He had a similar shirt laying on the bed, but his costume certainly wasn’t as elaborate as yours. Once you had both the top and bottom halves of your costume situated, you wrapped the gold belt around your waist and grabbed the cape from the closet, leaving it on the bed while you did just a normal face of makeup with some darker lipstick.
By the time you came out of the bathroom, Cale was dressed in black slacks and a white button up and he was slipping a partially undone tie around his neck. Stepping closer to him you reached up to undo the top few buttons of his dress shirt revealing the blue t-shirt underneath.
“Pretty sure you have to have the buttons undone hun, otherwise this isn’t a costume at all.” You teased, reaching around him to grab the maroon heels tucked into the closet since you didn’t have the proper knee high boots. Sitting on the bed to slide them on you reached over to grab his glasses from the bedside table. “You’re also going to need these. C’mon, pretend you’re having a little fun. This costume was your idea.” You prodded, standing back up and sliding your palms down his abs. Cale was definitely a pretty sexy Clark Kent to match the superwoman - supergirl - that he always claimed you were anyway.
Cale just looked at you making you laugh. “I know this is your least favorite part of Halloween.” You stated. “Because you’re boring like that but c’mon. We look hot.” You pressed, finally getting a small smile.
“You certainly look hot.” Cale agreed. “Are you sure you’re up to this?” He asked, causing you to roll your eyes and nod. “Yes...now let’s go before we’re really late.”
You were so going to pass him off to Josty and Burky and Mikko when you got there to make sure that they could get a few drinks into him and help him relax. He deserved that for sure, you just had to make sure he didn’t get so drunk that he started to get a loose tongue and spill your secret.
____
Needless to say, your boyfriend was clingy and affectionate when tipsy, something you’d known all the way back from that time in the bar before you’d even kissed. It was crazy to think that was only seven months ago.
Deciding that it was time to go, you left the party around 1am, dragging Cale back to the car and urging him into the passenger seat with the promise of a kiss. He’d lost his tie at some point over the course of the evening and you made a mental note to text Mel about it, sure that she would find it somewhere in her house.
By the time you parked in the apartment garage Cale was half asleep from two days of excitement and you moved around the car after releasing his seatbelt.
“Come on hun.” You urged, offering him a hand. “I may be dressed like Supergirl but there is no way I have her strength so you’re going to have to help me out here so we can get you to bed.” Cale looked up at you with a hazy alcohol fueled look before taking your hand, leaning into you as you guided him upstairs.
“You’re so pretty.” He murmurs repeatedly, his word choice changing slightly with every repetition from pretty to beautiful to sexy and then finally gorgeous. Unlocking your front door you guided him in and kicked it shut behind you, locking it before dropping your keys and stepping out of your heels.
“Time for bed.” You remind him, gently corralling him to the bedroom. He was asleep the moment his head hit the pillows and you carefully helped him strip down to the t-shirt and his boxers before moving to get yourself ready. It wasn’t often that you saw Cale as relaxed as he was tonight and you were grateful to the guys for giving him a good day and letting him forget about all those worrying thoughts you knew sometimes plagued him.
A lot was changing in your lives but with the support system you have and the love you share, it was all going to work out just fine.
i can't find your ramblings on swifties, but I'd love to read it if you want to elaborate here, or screen shot it? i feel like it's been building since the yntcd mv to miss americana doc period of time. the disappointment of her aligning herself as lgbt in the mv, the song comparing her haters to suffering homophobia, the lack of blm effort after her apparent political awakening... that development was when i started to notice it on tumblr, at least
The word "ramble" was maybe a bit overstated, given that it was more or less just me pointing out that it's a thing that happens, but I am very glad you are asking me this because I have a lot of thoughts! If nobody else will write an essay on this, it might as well be me.
I think the groundwork for the fandom crumbling was already laid in rep era – not because of anything Taylor did, but because of the fandom: Every small criticism of Taylor was called "hate" and I think the idea of "good" vs "bad" fan really developed during that time. And the protectiveness makes sense after everything that happened during 2016 and it only increased after Taylor went more in-depth on her mental health struggles during Lover promo, but it also created a big divide in the fandom and made it a fairly hostile place.
Speaking of Lover: I agree with you that that was the era where a lot of people fell out of love with her a bit. From the lead single to whatever YNTCD was, to her "political awakening" shtick: There were a lot of things going on in that era that people found questionable, and this lack of general hype for the album led to even more fandom fights (I will keep bringing up the fandom because I think it's an extension of the artist and very connected to how we view them). I think what you said about the political aspects of that era is 100% accurate – it's ironic that fans critizised her more for little political action after Miss Americana than most of them did when she wasn't political at all, but it also makes sense: if you make being politically outspoken a huge part of your marketing and therefore profit off of it and then don't do much in that regard, people are going to call bullshit. To be fair to her: She didn't do nothing and a celebrity of her caliber has to rethink every move in that regard, but I think the frustration is justified, ESPECIALLY when Taylor is quick to tweet about problems concerning herself (see: that Ginny and Georgia tweet, which I don't want to talk about much because it makes me sigh – but as a side note: The fandom can be vicious and racist and homophobic and I think Taylor not commenting on that has upset people). And what I said about celebrities rethinking every move gets a bit sour to me when remembering that she is in a movie with that O'Russell guy. Very defensive fans have a point when they say that people expect a lot from Taylor, and obviously she can't be perfect, but Taylor did feed into those expectations when making a documentary about not feeling muzzled anymore etc. (There goes the loudest woman this town has ever seen.) A rich white lady shouldn't necessarily be looked at for political guidance, however, she has power and her using her voice has proven to be very effective, and I think fans are disappointed she doesn't use it more often (+ for causes not benefiting herself).
Which brings us to her "capitalist girlboss agenda" that some people take issue with and that I already touched on: Taylor is very proud of her marketing strategies and knowing how to make money. She loves being a businesswoman, and it is admirable that she has been so active in her own management since she was very young, but it's something that clashes with her authenticity and accessibility a lot of fans cherish. I think we all know why she cut out her fan interactions and I personally think it is for the better, however, the tactics that took the place of those interactions are a bit "uuuh" to many. I think this is also where the generation gap of the fandom comes in: Taylor has fans her age that grew up with her, but she also has very young fans and the marketing strategies aimed at the latter don't necessarily go over well with the former. But this just as a side note. I think the introduction of Easter Eggs is a noteworthy moment in fandom history given how big of a part they now play in interacting with Taylor. And it's a fun idea, but there is the issue of the fandom taking it very far and Easter Eggs not leading to anything (1989 TV says hi). It's frustrating to many to not know when a single or an album will be released, and it is tiring to not be able to view anything she posts normally because most likely, it's a hint to something, or at least fans will act like it is. Fans are always used to drive up sales and engagement, as are personal instagram posts, but it is jarring to see it become so overt. I do genuinely believe the Easter Eggs were supposed to be fun for the fans at first, as are the vault thingies, but with the level of marketing and self-mythologization attached to it, it feels cold and sterile. Add that to the insanely high prices for boring merch and debacles like the "digitally signed" CD and you have yourself a recipe for fan disappointment. Taylor has branded herself as her fans' best friend for long, and because she is quirky and weird and often not too polished it worked – but it's not what she wants anymore, and she deserves nothing more than her privacy, but a fan used to genuine engagement with her is going to be taken aback by the new marketing strategies. There ARE ways to be private while still feeling personal in your branding (see Lorde's emails) but Taylor's team didn't want to go down that route apparently.
With all that being said: Taylor's happiness and her being content with her life is more important than whatever I get out of her and her music, and she remains one of the greatest songwriters of our generation – nobody can take that away. And I am sure that many fans will roll their eyes at this post because they still love her like they did when they first discovered her, and I am very happy for them and happy that Taylor has fans that loyal, but this post serves as an attempt to analyse shifts in the fandom that I have noticed over the past few years. I also think it's worth noting that once you start focusing on the negative aspects of something those negative things start jumping out to you, and it's important to maybe step back and focus on the good aspects once in a while – a lot of which I didn't mention because this is not what this post is about. But they are there, and I think the love for Taylor's music can easily sustain even when interest in her as a person fades.
