day 21: lanolin

Lambkits! (i know y'all call them shittens and that's valid but i don't think they'd call their own kids that so here we are) (crowns ended up looking more alarmed than intended, which was 'not at all' lmao)

following the end of constancy must transpose (you can read it here!), this is the first family portrait after the twins are born. Both Narinder and his daughter are just cuddled into the wool, with the son propped up against his dad's face bc the purr is soothing

short ramble on the twins/the lambkits in general/Lamb name drop bc why not

So once the Lamb remembers their own name, Esriaal (AE-sree-a'all, said with a bit of a baa on the last syllable, reason for the name is gonna be in the lore/ref posts i'm working on since it has a specific cultural reason), they start remembering other sheep names. Narinder insists that the kids have those from now on, for obvious reasons. Sheep names are usually drawn from angel names, as a fun lil contrast with all the demon names from the ars goetia, with spelling occasionally adjusted for the sheep pronunciations.

The older twin is a girl kitten named Israafil (EE-sra'a-feel, said with a bit of a baa in the middle), who's named for a friend of the Lamb before all of the sheep died. She has darker grey fur on her face/paws/end of her tail, and pale fur elsewhere; she has 3 eyes like her father.

The younger twin is a boy sheep named Harut (hah-ROOT) named for an important mentor/parental figure who was the last other sheep and the reason the Lamb survived. He's got black wool and two eyes.

it's only a few lambkits later that the Lamb and Narinder realise their kids are sometimes a little more mixed than usual, since these two follow the normal 'kid's race is identical to one of the parents' races' of my AUs

One day I'll get there.#The irony is that I was planning on drawing something to celebrate tempo finishing season 1 of their series only to find this DTIYS!#*and* it was their birthday recently. I am compelled to lift them into the air and shout their praises.#What a genuinely kind person with an art style I want to bite into like a crunchy apple!!! My number one tip for new Tumblr artists, or for artists in general:

‼️POST THAT WIP‼️

People fucking love sketches, people love loose and messy art, people love getting to see your lines before colour!!

WIPs often do just as well, if not better than an intricately rendered piece. You have nothing to lose by sharing that WIP!

#art tips #artists on tumblr #i used to worry that if i shared a WIP people would be less likely to interact with the finished piece #but that hasn't been the case at all #the only thing you lose out on by not sharing WIPs is the engagement sharing that WIP would get you #if you're still worried just leave a day between posting the WIP and the finished thing #so that you're not posting them back to back #just make sure that when you do share a WIP you do so at a point where the piece looks attractive #and then either post it as is or crop it in a tasteful way that makes people excited to see the rest!#and yeah sometimes a sketch won't do well but the same can be said for finished pieces #that's just how it goes sometimes <3

#art #digital #grayscale #control #control remedy #control 2019 #hi *explodes*#<- hiss charged voice #ok but seriously im pretty stoked about these. not all of them are my absolute best work but a lot of them turned out really well and more #importantly i actually fucking finished all of them (only took about 2 months longer than i thought it would lmao)#ummm notes. all of these were done with the same single brush for everything you see and most were done on only 2 layers + one for the text #the first 3 were done first in order and the last one was done last i dont entirely remember the order of the rest #also i listened to the song exploder episode on the house of cards theme probably at least a dozen times while working on these #just felt like it set the mood well #anything else interesting i have to share about the process? dont think so... look out for some alternate color versions #in the next few days as i endeavor to figure out gradient maps i suppose #well thats it. very much hope this gets even half as much traction as last weeks memes due to the aforementioned 3 months spent working #but we'll see. we shall see.#yayyyyy posting art before bedtime <3

i tried to play into tumblr's automatic video looping but you can also watch it on youtube with subtitles for the dialogue, it's not that important, it's more about the idea of the loop than the experience

#agatha all along #not perfect but im pretty pleased with this as a first impression #i mean it's literally only been 3 days it's gonna take simmering for a while before i come up with like #the really interesting ideas and visuals #but this already has some potential #i especially like the second verse #the 'please let him live' with the dandelion and rio blowing the protection sand circle away #giving response to the request but not in any way agatha can understand #and that sequence of dandelion-rio-baby is just so on point both idea-wise and rhythm-wise #and the covens/hands/binding ritual part #'you hold nothing' -> agathas empty (healed by rio) hand and her three of swords #i also like the second refrain/fighting sequence #especially the sequence of agatha killing her coven-dead witches become knife on the floor-she looks at it-death looks at her #anyway. nice to make a video again #already started a second one for them but i dont know when im finishing that one since my editing program situation is not ideal rn #and also i have homework to do
