it never occurred to me how fucking funny phantom planet liveblogs would be. mutuals if you ever watch danny phantom.you don't need to liveblog the whole thing but I NEED to see your reactions to phantom planet. you know that genre of post where like. people are watching fma for the first time and go "aww puppy ^_^" and then reblog it with the most haunted image when they finish the episode. that's what phantom planet liveblogs are like to me. "surely it can't be that bad" >> "oh this fucking sucks"

Please add links in the reblogs if you have more dp fancomics you know about -I'm sure this list is missing things! :D (Feel free to share recommendations for some one shot comics too, if you have favourites!)

“A trip to Paris”
Danny Phantom crossover with Miraculous Ladybug fanfic.
Notes: This was written when season 3 of Miraculous Ladybug finished but it was never complete until now. For the @invisobang event on tumblr.
Beta and summary by: @the-oaken-muse on tumblr or The_Oaken_Muse on AO3. Future art piece by: @k-beckerart on Tumblr. (Preview art).
Chapter: 1/12 Next Versión en Español
Also on:     A03 || FF || DeviantArt || Facebook.
Summary: After saving the world and all the stress of the aftermath, the Fenton family decides to take a nice, relaxing vacation to Paris. Little do they know, it's not the peaceful retreat they were expecting.
Chapter 1: “New beginnings”  There are certain universal truths in life that everyone comes to accept. One such fact is that ghosts are real, another is that some ghosts are half human. It all started when those facts were proven on top of all. When the most important fact should have been the asteroid disaster –that most people had named the ‘Disasteroid’. When the end of the world was announced, to say everything devolved into chaos would be an understatement, the reality was much, much worse.
Another fact was that a tiny, almost nonexistent town in the middle of nowhere appeared in the news. The town of Amity Park gained global attention when their crazy mayor proposed a ‘solution’ to the crisis. Vlad Masters aka Vlad Plasmius was the ‘halfa’ that suggested that in order to save the world after previous, seemingly useless attempts, the solution was to simply make the asteroid intangible. Of course, that didn’t work as expected, but no surprise there, he was too preoccupied with plans of world domination to fully think things through.
Now, the whole of humanity is thankful that a single ghost, or well, a single teenager, had come up with a plan that worked. Maybe the young ghost was inspired by Vlad because of the general idea but it worked and that’s the most important part, or nobody would be alive now. The world is very thankful for that, for the braveness of Danny Phantom.
As a thank you, the people of the world erected a well deserved statue of the now global hero in each major city around the world. It was all anybody was talking about, that and the sensation of intangibility. Each person had their own story of what happened that fateful day, what it felt like to be intangible. Although that's the main topic of conversation these days, heroes have existed for a long time now. In Paris for example, Ladybug and her partner Chat Noir lead the Miraculous team, although they didn’t really have a team anymore. Closer to Amity Park, New York City is full of heroes, many of them without hidden identities. There are even rumours of heroes in other parts of the world such as in China, Brazil, some parts of Africa, London, Japan and more. The main point is that heroes aren't new or something that would surprise anybody anymore.      Now the world has learned about Amity Park, its people, and its ghosts. While there are confirmed heroes and rumours of others all over the world, none of them were able to stop the asteroid hurtling towards the Earth. The world’s largest military powers had combined their resources trying to destroy the source of the end. It was later revealed that they were sabotaged thanks to the not-that-helpful help of Vlad Masters (who intervened without asking). While the whole world finally noticed the small town of Amity Park and learned all about them, and of course their crazy halfa mayor.  All of the heroes who wanted to do something to help were too busy fighting the villains who decided to try something in the chaos. The world needed a new hero to step up, instead they got a villain masquerading as a saviour. Nobody could have predicted that he would fail so drastically. In the end, the Earth was saved by a new hero, another halfa, although not many people knew he was one.
In Amity Park, the GIW, known by most people as the ‘Guys In White’, were stopped by real government agents. It came out that they were actually a fake agency bankrolled by Vlad and his shady business dealings to protect citizens of Amity Park and Vlad when he was there. Vlad has them as one of his ‘real’ businesses.
The FBI had taken over the situation in Amity Park, mostly because the villain of the story was an American who lived in Amity and therefore this case fell under their jurisdiction. The other countries had allowed them to handle the whole affair, to keep the process of condemning Vlad contained in one country. The rest of the world washed their hands of it all, the only thing that they seemed to agree on was to make him pay.
After interrogating everyone involved with Vlad’s failed mission and questioning the team that worked with Danny to build the intangibility transfer device, the FBI learned the true identity of a certain ghostly hero. After which, they began working closely with a particular family: The Fenton family.
The Fentons were a family of four, Jack Fenton, Madeline “Maddie” Fenton, Daniel “Danny” Fenton and Jasmine "Jazz" Fenton. As specialists in ecto-science Jack and Maddie were the only ones allowed to work in what was left of Vlad Masters’ lab, since they knew how most of his technology worked. Their children, Jazz and Danny, worked with them, helping them to dismantle it to be carted away by the FBI in the name of public safety.
The FBI also enlisted the help of the Fentons, and possibly NASA, but that was classified, to repair the very same rocket that Vlad had paid for, the one he had sabotaged with the wrong coordinates, so they could use it to fetch him back from space. The people of the world wanted justice, and they wouldn’t be able to get it if he died out there. Now, not even the Fentons knew if he would become a full ghost or just die, leaving nothing but a body behind, and they didn’t want to take any chances.
In the end, he was tried and found guilty of multiple counts of public corruption, including election fraud; terrorism; corporate fraud and theft of intellectual property; as well as blackmailing the entire world. He was sentenced to live out the rest of his natural, or rather unnatural, life in a special FBI facility, complete with a phase proof cell and ghost restraint handcuffs. As for the rocket, the official reports list it as ‘destroyed in a crash landing’.
At the Fenton’s residence, Jack and Maddie had worked hard to reconstruct their previously destroyed lab (most specifically their ghost portal) with the pieces that they got from Vlad’s. After confirming with the FBI their intentions to use the technology and making their case for why they need a functional ghost portal, the Fentons were allowed to make their repairs. They also reverse engineered several of his inventions to better understand how they worked and, in doing so, they discovered even more of Vlad’s evil plans. It was hard to reconcile everything that they had learned with what they thought they knew of their old college friend.
After that, everything in the lab went fairly smoothly, considering the circumstances, but all that changed when they discovered an even more immoral half-finished experiment. While the main information seemed to be destroyed and/or missing they managed to get the gist of it. A clone, and a clone of none other than Danny Phantom. That was the second most shocking news for the Fentons, right behind the revelation that Vlad Masters was a half ghost. It hit Jack especially hard, as he was the closest to Vlad back then, they were best friends, roommates… A good friend? More like an enemy.
Jack and Maddie knew that their son disliked Vlad, hated him even, and the more they learned of the truth, the more they understood why. Maddie specifically knew that Vlad and Danny had a rivalry of sorts. She’d thought it was because Danny didn’t like or even appreciate the fact that he was trying to hit on her. Vlad’s advances had always made her uncomfortable, even more disgusted than what Danny felt. It was personal for her. But that hadn’t been it, or at least not all of it, and wasn’t that an understatement? A clone? What hadn’t that man done? What crimes against nature hadn’t he committed?
They had just finished going over the papers, what little research remained, and determined that those analyses, even unconcluded, were 100% of a clone. A clone of their own son, a halfa himself. They didn’t know how that would even work, how it would be possible to replicate such a unique state of being, and couldn't comprehend what or who they would be if that was complete. The two shared a grim look, they needed to talk to their children about this, there was so much that they still didn’t know.
Danny and Jazz were on the main level helping catalogue some equipment from Vlad’s lab, sorting out even more ghost weapons from the rest of his inventions. That man had so many weapons, of all shapes and sizes, weapons they now knew had been used against their son. They were grateful that they would never be used like that again, neither Vlad’s nor their own. They regretted their actions every day, every shot, every hurtful word they had used against Danny Phantom.
They decided to have their much-needed family discussion over dinner that evening. Maddie left Jack putting together a list of the most important questions from the information they did have and headed upstairs to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and stared at its contents for a moment or two before deciding that it would be better to order pizza instead.
Maddie finished ordering the pizza and after a while, Jack joined her in the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Danny was done with the group that he was cataloguing with Jazz’s help. Jazz was the one that was guiding Danny with the correct order, she is the most organised one between those two after all.
Jazz hovered around Danny as he finished going through a box of weapons, once again repeating the instructions when he cut her off.
“All right, Jazz! I know! We’ve been doing this long enough,” he gestured at all the boxes in frustration. “I know you just want to know how many times he used these on me or if he gave them to Skulker, or another ghost, or whatever. You can stop now.”
“That’s not true, Danny!” Jazz defended, even though she had been wondering about that. Danny just glared at her and rolled his eyes. “Whatever you say, sis.” He picked up the empty box that had previously been full of weapons, “Look I’m done with this one. I don’t know about you, but I’m starving and I think I heard mom and dad talking in the kitchen.” He jerked his thumb toward the door.  “Yeah, me too and I get it, all right… but I'll be here when you’re ready to talk,” she said earnestly. She was a bit disappointed with herself for upsetting him, she had been hoping he would be more open about everything now that their parents knew his secret. Unfortunately, everyone was still a bit tense about the whole situation.  “Whatever.” Danny rolled his eyes again and headed to the kitchen with Jazz following close behind. “Danno! Jazzy-Pants!” Jack greeted them when he saw them. “How goes the sorting?”
“Fine.”
Jazz elbowed her brother. “He means we’re almost finished.”
“That’s great, kids!”
“We ordered pizza.” Maddie interjected. “It should be here soo–” The ringing of the doorbell cut her off.
“I got it!” Jack shouted, already halfway to the door.
“Now I wonder who that could be,” she murmured.
“I hope it’s the pizza, all that sorting really worked up an appetite!” Danny’s stomach growled as if to accent his point.
“Yeah, Mom,” Jazz added, "it's probably just the pizza.”
“That was fast…” Maddie commented distractedly.
“Ah? Why do you say that, Mom?” asked Jazz, a bit worried. “It hasn't been that long…” Maddie considered the time she thought had passed.
“Pizza’s here!” Jack announced as he brought the boxes into the kitchen. “Actually, Honey, it has been a while since I heard you make the order.”  “Oh? I didn’t realise…” Maddie glanced at the clock on the wall again and shook her head to clear it. “I guess I’ve just got a lot on my mind right now, that’s all.” She tried to give her family a reassuring smile, but it came across a bit forced.
“All right...” Danny exchanged a worried glance with Jazz. There were only a few things that could distract his mother like that and none of them were good. He knew his mom came up to the kitchen a while ago and heard her talking on the phone or something but didn't pay that much attention as he was still following Jazz's ideas of cataloguing the last ghost weapons from the box. “Okay… Danny and I will set the table then.” offered Jazz. She understood Danny's worry, anything that knocked their normally highly perceptive mother off kilter couldn't be good. She hadn’t noticed when her mom came upstairs, just when her dad did, as he was the most noisy, so she couldn’t say for sure how long it had been since she placed the order.
“Yes, thank you darling,” said Maddie and she took a seat while the kids started putting dishes on the table.
“You know Mads, we could just ask him...” Jack suggested in a low voice, almost whispering.
Maddie shook her head. “No, Jack, I don’t think that simply asking him would work, it has to come up in the conversation naturally.” She took a fortifying breath and then blew it out slowly. “Alright, I think I'm ready now.”
“Alright.”Jack repeated, nodding solemnly, before finally sitting down himself. Once the whole family was gathered around the table and had pizza on their plates, it was actually Danny who broke the silence.
“Mom, Dad…” Danny began, “I know this hasn’t been easy for you guys, there’s been a lot to unpack, uh, literally and figuratively… But you know I’m okay with it, right? Like, you guys can talk to me about stuff, ask me questions, whatever…”
He knew very well that they had questions for him, he suspected they were about Vlad and his weapons or something similar. He didn’t need to hear it to know. Although, he did hear them. After all, that was an almost-whisper.
“Danny...” Jazz said, concern evident in her voice. She understood that he probably knew the situation better than she did, as she had ignored their parents' quiet conversation, but that didn’t stop her from worrying about her little brother.
“It’s alright Jazz,” he reassured her. “Ever since they found out, it’s been a big help, but…” Danny sighed. There was still a lot they didn’t know, and he was getting tired of walking on eggshells around them.
“I know.” Jazz gave him a small, encouraging smile. She had a better idea of what Danny had been through than their parents, and she still had questions. They had been doing their best to let Danny come to them on his own time, but subtlety had never been their strong suit. The curiosity and the guilt both were eating them alive.
“What is it, son?” asked Jack, wondering if they had been too obvious, hoping they hadn’t done anything to make him uncomfortable.
“I don’t know...” Danny rubbed the back of his neck, glancing nervously at his sister. She nodded as if to give him courage. “It’s just… you looked like something was bothering you, like you had a question, or something…”
Jack took a quick look at his wife and squared his shoulders before turning back to the kids. Sometimes just asking was the best policy. “We may want to know something… ”
“Jack!” Maddie admonished. She looked at her husband in shock, that was not what they had discussed. Then she looked back over at her kids, especially at Danny. He looked nervous, but hopeful, like he was really ready to talk to them. Jack had noticed it already and taken the appropriate action, it was time for her to get on the same page. She took a deep breath, “I’m sorry. You’re right, Dear, we should just ask him.”
“What is it, mom?” Danny’s gaze flickered anxiously back and forth between his parents, “Dad?”
Jazz reached for Danny's hand, squeezing gently, letting him know he wasn’t alone. It was something she had always done to calm him down, she was glad it still worked.
“Look son, I know you say that you’re ready to talk about all this, ready for us to know… and we want to! But for your mom and I… well… it’s hard to imagine how all this was for you, especially because… we... we…” Jack sighed. This was harder to talk about than he thought it would be. After a brief pause, he tried again, “Your mother and I found out about the cloning experiment. There was inconclusive but valid information on Vlad’s lab computer files. We have the backup copies saved on our lab’s computers now.”
“Oh!” Danny’s eyes lit up with understanding. “I almost forgot about that.”
“Danny, dear… you knew?” asked Maddie, concerned.
Danny nodded sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck once again. He wasn’t sure where to start explaining, filling in the missing data… some of it wasn’t pretty, there was a reason that information was destroyed.
“Oh, God,” Maddie swore. “He actually did it, didn’t he?”
“Heh, yeah...” Danny grimaced, dropping his hand with a sigh.
Jazz took hold of his hand again, silently supporting her brother. She didn’t know the full story, but she gathered that it was something very difficult for him to talk about.
Danny gently pulled his hand out of his sister’s, nodding a silent thanks to her before turning back to his parents and beginning his explanation. “He was trying to clone me to create the perfect son, or something… You know, I never actually let him explain it.” He scoffed, “That’s one of the many reasons why I called him a complete crazy fruitloop, because obviously he is. He had this huge container with the ‘perfect specimen’ or whatever he called it and all these clones–”
“Clones?” Maddie interrupted his rambling, “As in, more than one?”
“Yeah, there were… a few.” Danny bowed his head, voice tinged with regret. “I didn’t realise at first… they didn’t look much like me. Vlad called them failures…”.
“‘Were?’” Jazz asked, picking up on his use of the past tense. “What happened?”
“They… they were killed...” Danny practically whispered, keeping his head down.
“What?” Jack cried out, voice filled with pain, already mourning the children he’d never met. He hadn’t even known about them a few hours ago and already he would give his life to protect them. How could Vlad have done such a thing? Surely he would have considered them to be his own children, in a way. “Vlad… he didn’t... he wouldn’t… would he?”
“Yeah… in a way, he did...” Danny replied. He lifted his head a bit, but instead of looking at his family, he only gazed sadly at his own hands. “But only because he ordered them to attack me... and I didn’t know… we were fighting and they just... they turned to goo.”  “Goo?” asked Jazz, a bit confused, it seemed her brother had left out a lot of details when he’d told her this story before.
“Yeah, remember the container I told you about? It was like a long, uh, tube thing, like out of a movie...” Danny began gesturing with his hands, attempting to describe the shape of the strange device.
“All right...?” said Jack, failing to follow along with the explanation.
“But then, if they turned to, um, goo… then there aren’t any...” Maddie was unsure of how to phrase the question, the situation being more complicated than it seemed.
“Clones?” Danny supplied, to which Maddie nodded. “Only one: Dani. That’s with an ‘i,’ short for Danielle.”
“Danielle?” asked Jack, “Isn’t that a girl’s name?”
“A female clone?” asked Maddie, blinking in surprise.
“Yes…?” Danny replied hesitantly. Is that not common for clones?
“Danny, you said that he cloned you, I’m not an expert or anything, but I’m pretty sure a clone of you should be a boy. And probably a baby… just a few months old at most. Clones do start as babies, right?” Even with Danny using his hands to show how big the container had been, Jazz was having trouble imagining anything bigger than tiny test tubes with little babies floating in them. They didn’t seem nearly big enough to hold a teenager like Danny. “Normally, you would be right, Jazz.” Maddie raised her hand to stop Danny from interrupting. “But the information we found in his lab included a way to alter and accelerate the cloning process. He managed to clone Danny, but in a very different way than traditional science has done in the past with dogs or sheep… or any animal for that matter. I hate to give that man any sort of credit, but frankly, it’s impressive.”  “How is that possible?” asked Jazz, feeling lost. Her specialty was psychology, not genetics.
“Well, what your mother and I found was very interesting...” Jack began while nodding along to it.
“It was incomplete,” Maddie continued where he left off, “It was almost as if it had been destroyed or perhaps sabotaged.”
Danny grinned at his mother’s knowing look, “For legal reasons, I know nothing.”
Maddie just shook her head, “As I was saying, the information we did manage to recover seems to indicate that he was able to create a genetic accelerator that would allow the clone to be aged up very close to Danny’s age, if not the exact same. Danny, how old would you say this… ‘Dani’ is? And do you have any idea where she might be?”.
“Ohhh… Oh!” Danny gasped as if something had just clicked in his mind, as if that was something that he had never considered.
“You haven’t thought about it, have you, little bro?” asked Jazz, easily understanding her brother's reaction.
“What? Pshh! No… I totally, definitely… possibly, maybe… thought… Actually, how do you know about clones, Jazz?” Danny asked, quickly trying to change the topic as he didn’t know where Dani was.
“Hey, that’s just common knowledge, we learned about it in biology class!” Jazz defended herself.
“Danny,” Maddie’s voice held a warning, “You did learn about that, didn’t you? I believe Mr. Lancer explained it to us, and all the parents, in a parent–teacher meeting about grades and school activities a couple of months ago… It was the same with Jazz when she was your age. Like your sister said, it was part of the curriculum. Superhero or not, we expect you to keep up with your lessons, young man.”
Jack nodded along looking very serious.
“Oops...” Danny muttered, realising his distraction plan had backfired.
“We should probably go over your textbooks, or review some of your old lessons if you don’t remember that...” Maddie said thoughtfully, they still had so much catching up to do to get Danny back on track with his schoolwork.
“I should ask Sam or Tucker about it, compare notes… I may have slept through it… sorry.” Danny brought a hand up to his neck sheepishly.
“It’s all right son,” Jack placed a large, comforting hand on Danny’s shoulder, “We know you had a lot going on, but now you have help.” He knew now that Danny was probably staying up late fighting ghosts and not getting enough sleep at the time.
“We’re sorry, sweetie, if we had paid better attention, we could have helped you sooner. We promise to do a better job of helping you with your time management and catching up with your studies.” Maddie wondered if she and Jack would ever truly understand what being a halfa had meant for their son, how it had impacted his whole life.
“I know, I know… and I do appreciate it, I do…” Danny looked around for a way out of talking about his poor grades, “Um, hey… shouldn’t we really be focusing on Dani right now? You know the uh, missing, like, 12 or 13 year old girl? She could really be anywhere you know, probably just wandering around...”
“I see what you’re doing and this conversation isn’t over young man, but yes, finding Dani is more important right now… So, 12 or 13 years old?” said Maddie, getting back on track.
“Well… she was, like, two years younger than me… or at least that’s how old she looked...” Danny thought back to the last time he saw her.
“But you don’t know for sure.” concluded Maddie, it was easy to get confused about someone else's age without asking, after all.
“No, sorry. When I met her… well she almost ended up like the others… But hey! Dad helped her!” Danny snapped his fingers, remembering the occasion.
“I did! Wait, I did?” asked a confused Jack.
“Well… your invention did. But that counts, so yeah, you did!” said Danny with a smile, especially knowing what a close call it had been.
“Well, son, I’m glad to hear it!” Jack boomed. “But, uh, how exactly did that happen? Why didn’t she turn into ‘goo’ like the others, and, uh, what invention did it? Because well…” His inventions weren’t really designed to help ghosts. Now it was his turn to look sheepish.
“Oh, well… ” Danny looked up at the ceiling in thought, “It happened a couple of months ago, when I first met her…”
“She tried to attack you, right?” guessed Jazz, “You said the others did that, so...”
“Yeah, she was the most stable one, so her ‘father’ sent her to gain my trust, or whatever,” Danny put as much venom into the word as he could muster. “He called her his daughter and still considered her disposable. Unfortunately, she had to learn that the hard way, and now she doesn’t even care what happens to him… ”
“Oh, Danny...” Jazz murmured, she could imagine the frustration that he was feeling.
“It’s alright Jazz. Please go on, Danny-boy.” Jack needed to know more about which of his inventions was used to save Dani, he needed to know more about the daughter he’d never met.
Danny sighed, “No, it’s not alright… She’s her own person, but she still deserves someone who cares about her… and well, he did create her...”
“I know what you mean, Danny, but it is okay,” Jazz spoke with a calming voice. “Yes, he may have created her in his lab, but that doesn’t automatically make him her father. You said it yourself, he doesn’t really care about her, so it’s completely understandable for her to reject him like that...”
“Thanks Jazz,” Danny said softly, understanding what his sister meant by that.
“You know, your sister is right,” Maddie added proudly. “Vlad created a clone of you, Danny, but that’s it. He hasn’t put in any of the emotional labour, he hasn’t earned the right to be her father. There are a lot of families that aren't related by blood, but those relationships take work just the same.”
“He hasn’t earned it, has he?” said Danny, the implication that Dani basically didn’t have parents setting in. She was rejecting Vlad after all, her creator.
“Of course not, son! Vladdy may have been the person responsible for her existence, and even though he did an amazing job with the genetic acceleration and all that…” said Jack, very impressed with that part of the information.
“Jack! Focus.” Maddie scolded, even though she also was impressed by the work, it wasn’t the time to say so.
“Right! Sorry! He may be a genius, but he’s still evil! An evil, evil genius…” Jack stopped himself from saying more, even though he was still very impressed by how smart his ex-friend was.
“I admire his work too, Jack. But I’d admire it even more if he didn’t throw ethics out the window.” said Maddie. “But that’s a discussion for another time.”.
“I know, I know…” Jack muttered. “Our priority right now is finding Danielle–”
“Dani,” said Danny, correcting his dad, as none of them like to be called by their full name.
“Right… And to think that before I thought that a ghost and my son having the same first name was confusing...” Jack laughed.
“It’s ‘Dani’ dad, not ‘Danny’ there’s a difference,” said Jazz, exaggerating the pronunciation even though there wasn’t any difference in reality, it was more for them.
Jack was astonished and blinked at the confusing pronunciation a few times, whispering both names under his breath as he tried to hear the difference.
“Jack?” said Maddie, raising an eyebrow, she knew that there’s nothing going on with the pronunciation but she wasn’t going to spoil the kids’ fun.
“Right… the point is that Dani exists and, well… we have to find her!” Jack smacked his fist into his palm for emphasis, “She’s technically a Fenton, and Fentons stick together.”
“What?” asked a confused Danny, he hadn’t expected that much support from any of them.
“That’s true little bro, think about it… she’s basically you, right?” said Jazz, liking where this was going, she would love another little sibling, especially a sister.
Maddie hummed. “Well, theoretically Jazz is right. She is a female clone of you, and before anyone asks; yes, it is possible for her to be you even as a girl. That could be an anomaly caused by the acceleration process that Vlad used to create her.” she explained, preemptively answering any questions that might come up.
“That actually makes sense… I think...” said Jazz, even though that wasn’t in her questions at all. “I haven’t thought about it. Last time I saw her, like I said, your experiment helped me stabilise her, even though the fruitloop kept saying he needed a ‘mid–form sample’ or something like that. He was planning on using that to fix his main clone, a male one.” Danny added as an extra explanation.
“Of course! It all makes perfect sense now!” Maddie’s fist struck her palm as she made that claim. “What does, mom?” asked Jazz, not understanding what their mother was getting at. “Well, Danny said that the other clones turned into goo, right?”
Danny nodded in confirmation.
“And that Vlad had a special container for a male clone...”
Danny nodded again.
“And Dani was the only clone that survived long enough for Danny to stabilise because she is a female one.” Maddie explained matter-of-factly. “Okay, you lost me.” Danny was… not expecting that at all. “Think about it, sweety. Vlad, as you know, had a thing for me and an obsession with you. He wanted the perfect little family. From what you told us and what we obtained from his lab, as well as the disturbing AI hologram of… myself,” Maddie made a disgusted face at that. “I still can’t believe he– well actually I can. Anyway, he wanted you to be his perfect son, but you told him no. So just like he made a hologram copy of me, he wanted a perfect clone of you, and that meant it had to be male. Why couldn’t he just take ‘no’ for an answer?” she sighed.
“It’s alright now Maddie, he’s long gone.” Jack said sadly. It had been hard for him to accept everything that his ex-friend had done. If they had known before, if he had talked to them about what had happened, maybe they could have worked things out and they could even… who knows, hunt ghosts with him or something along those lines, the way they did with Danny now. But he wasn’t about to forgive him that easily, not after what he’d done.    “I know, I know…” Maddie said more calmly. “And now, to think that there is a little girl just wandering around all alone… Wait! Danny, where did you say she was again?”
“I… I don’t know… I’m sorry” Danny hung his head in shame. “I only know that Vlad… well, he tricked the Huntress–”
“Who?” asked Maddie.
“Uhhh… it’s complicated?” Danny said with a sheepish grin.
“Danny...” warned Maddie, they had agreed on no more secrets. He sighed, “It’s not my secret to tell. Although I know she’s probably looking for an opportunity to speak with me since, well… she was there when it happened.” He really wasn’t going to tell them about Valerie, not without talking to her first. He knew well enough that she only accepted his apology for revealing her identity to her dad because what she had planned was a suicide mission.  “So she knows.” Maddie stated.
“Yeah, she does now, but up until that point she didn’t… and Vlad convinced her, I don’t know how, probably with money –she only knew him as Masters, not Plasmius– and he sent her to find Dani to… well, to destroy her. But didn’t tell her that! The lie was that Dani wanted to kill Masters… and, well, she– the Huntress wasn’t just going to let that happen. So she managed to get Dani, but it wasn’t a fair fight ‘cause Dani was in pretty bad shape, that made the Huntress stop and plan ahead, creating a trap for me, but I knew the truth, and well, I told her ‘C’mon, does she look like she’s gonna do anything?’ Then the Huntress realised that Dani and I couldn’t be lying… But at the same time she was a ghost hunter first… so...” Danny explained in a rush, barely pausing for breath. “She didn’t try to, um, destroy... you?” asked Maddie, she knew that a lot of people had tried that, including them. “Well… maybe. But just like you guys, she didn’t know!” Danny hurried to stop his parents from feeling guilty about hunting him again. “Oh, honey…” Maddie started, Jack nodding along apologetically, ”We’re so sorry for all–”
“I know, I know… You’re sorry for everything, the shooting, the hunting, the hurtful words, blah, blah, blah. Can we please move on?” said Danny testily. The long apologies were really getting old.
“They’re not going to stop any time soon and you know it, Danny.” Jazz teased. She knew her little brother was getting tired of the long speeches asking for forgiveness, but they had a long way to go before their parents’ guilt waned. “I know.” Danny sighed.
“Right, right. Sorry sweety. Anyway, I suppose you managed to convince the Huntress to help you, then?” said Maddie, getting back on track. “Yeah, that’s right,” Danny picked up the story where he left off, “and I figured that you guys probably had something in the lab that could help Dani and I… I brought the Huntress here–”
“Wait, you came here and we didn’t notice?” Maddie cut in. “I mean, I get it, your father and I get distracted sometimes… but you came here with another hunter to look for something that could help ghosts….” She was beginning to see a theme in their house, and she didn’t particularly like it. “Uh, sorry?” said Danny. He wasn’t really sorry, but still felt the need to apologise.
“No, no… it’s all right son, you did what you had to do.” Jack chimed in. He was mostly letting Maddie do her thing, ask the right questions, and get the information they needed.
“It’s all right, Danny. You have always done the right thing, and we trust you. So what did you use to help her?” asked Maddie, she was very curious as most of their inventions back then didn’t work in favour of ghosts. “It was, uh, that serum that dad was working on, the ‘Ecto–Dejecto,’” Danny said, remembering that day. “It wasn’t working right, it was making ghosts stronger instead of weaker.” “Oh, that one!” Jack brightened in recognition, then sobered, “But it does work, it just took time.” “What? But all the samples were… bigger.” said Danny, getting worried.
“That may have been true at the beginning, but as the Ecto-Dejecto ran its course, those specimens, well, they just… gooed?” said Maddie, unsure if saying ‘goo’ would help in this case.
“WHAT???!!!” Danny exclaimed, imagining the worst case scenario and for a brief moment his eyes flashed a toxic green before returning to their normal blue.
“Calm down, Danny, it wasn’t your fault, you didn’t know. You did your best and believed that it would be enough. I’m sure we can come up with something to help Dani. We just need to know where she is...” said Jazz.
“I… I don’t know where she is… I think I saw her helping during the Disasteroid, with the other ghosts. She must have travelled there, when she heard what he did.” Danny said, unsure of himself. It had all happened so fast, he hadn’t paid attention to every single detail. “But… I don’t think she stayed, she just… kept travelling.”
Maddie hummed, “In that case, we– Wait…! She came here to Amity when she needed help, right? That’s the last time you know for sure that you saw her, and the first time she was in Wisconsin with Vlad, right?” she asked, trying to understand the whole picture better.
“Well, actually– Wait, Mom, do you think she would come back here when she feels weak again?” Danny asked hopefully.
“Considering she’s done it before, it seems likely. And maybe, if she was indeed there in Antarctica, and she knows that we know who you are now, she’ll feel more comfortable coming to us for help. She may also have heard that Vlad revealed his secret to the world and well...” Maddie was hoping that Dani only hid because of the whole ghost secret identity thing. “Yeah, she came to Amity looking for me, she really believed I could help her… but if the Ecto-Dejecto won’t help permanently, then what? You aren’t gonna let her just turn into goo, right?” asked Danny, wringing his hands subconsciously. “Of course not, Dann-o! She’s a Fenton after all! Even if she wasn’t, she’s still a kid, a halfa, but a kid first,” said Jack, nodding.
“That’s true,” said Maddie. Suddenly she snapped her fingers, “I know what to do! You said that Vlad was trying to force you to give him a “mid–form” sample, right?” “That wouldn’t be dangerous for Danny, right mom?” Jazz glared pointedly at her mother, worried about what she was getting at. “Of course not, darling, and we would get Danny’s permission before we extract the sample. But if we can correctly use the scans and diagrams Vlad created, we can use your DNA to help stabilise little Dani permanently!” said Maddie with confidence, after all, there had to be a reason he needed the mid-morph sample.
“Really?” Danny asked hopefully.
“Of course, son!” Jack’s voice boomed with the same confidence as Maddie’s, then he also snapped his fingers, “She is a clone of you, that may mean she also shares the same ghostly signature as you!" “Oh, I see where you’re going with that, honey! That could work!” said Maddie, looking at her husband excitedly. “What would work?” asked Danny, glancing back and forth between his parents. “A way to find her,” said Maddie, smiling. “How?” asked Jazz, a bit lost, it’s like their parents had started communicating telepathically, or something.
“Simple, we use the Booo–merang!” Maddie said proudly, her smile growing wider.
“But mom, that always just hits me...” said Danny, unsure of this plan.
“Normally, yes, but we’ve been working on ways to avoid that, now that we know why it was happening. We’ve actually been modifying all of our weapons to ignore you, to ignore your ghostly signature,” Maddie explained. “We have that information, we could use it to track down Dani! But first, son, we will need to scan you down in the lab to get the mid-form sample as well as both... um, sides…” She was unsure how to describe the change.
“Both sides?” Danny asked for clarification.
“From human to ghost and vice versa.” said Maddie, feeling a bit more secure with the term.
“Ah! Okay,” Danny grinned, glad they were on the same page. “And that would help her, right?”
“That’s right. With your help, we can permanently stabilise her and she’ll never have to worry about turning into goo again,” Maddie said with a small, but sincere, smile.
“What are we just sitting around for? We have a new family member to help!” Jack smiled wide and finished his piece of pizza, gone cold at this point.
The Fenton family had a lot of work ahead of them. They continued their conversation over the rest of the cold pizza, planning and deciding and hammering out the details. All they needed was to put everything in motion, it was only a matter of time until they could find Danielle and bring her home.       To be continued… :D :D

Danny's Recurring Identity Crisis pt. 1
Going through high school is torture enough. But if you throw in ghost powers at age 14, then there's sure to be disaster.
Considering Danny was already going through enough problems as a normal teenage boy living with eccentric parents. Adding in the ghost powers paired with his own sense of doing the right thing. Then you've got Danny Phantom—Teen Ghost Fighter.
This comes with a slew of newer issues that get to be a bit much to handle. No wonder Danny constantly faced an identity crisis. And not just when he wanted to spend the summer with his friends as a normal kid.
No, no. Danny's identity crisis continues throughout the show.
The Ghost Catcher being the perfect instrument to show what was going on with Danny mentally when it came to balancing his identities.
Starting early out. He gets his powers. Figures out something new about them every day. Tries to fight ghost crimes with them, do the right thing, fight the good fight.
But keep his ghost side hidden from the world. Which starts to cause him problems as the series progresses.
When he first starts using his powers, it's all standard issue and he's learning, trying to come to terms with them and his role as Danny Phantom.
Which is why when the Ghost Catcher splits him the first time.
Tumblr media
It's all too easy to become one again. Because there's no internal struggle yet. He hasn't distinguished both sides. Notice how he starts to separate both sides of himself later on in the series.
Human Danny has school, family, friends, and a life. Ghost Danny fights evil ghosts and protects his town.
Danny drew the line and the internal struggle began.
So when he splits himself with the Ghost Catcher the second time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And tries to become one again, this happens:
Tumblr media
The unholy combination of both sides of Danny warring to come out on top.
These two:
Tumblr media
Made this:
Tumblr media
The hand on hips thing is purely his own choice btw.
Goes to show how separate both halves have gotten. Danny drew the line to keep his identity a secret, and managed to further alienate both sides of him within himself.
Hence his constant, Danny Fenton does this, and Danny Phantom does that. He doesn't consider them as one. Which is why he manages to make the most stupidest decisions whenever he wishes to shed one side of himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This distinction becomes even more disastorous when a certain Disasteroid is hurtling towards earth and Danny Phantom is nowhere to be found cause he fucked it again. Because when the genius did this...
Tumblr media
...he mentally and physically got rid of any association with Danny Phantom.
He thought that now that he didn't have his powers anymore, he didn't have to give two shits about standing up for what's right.
We got the Cool Fun Time Danny for good. But this time there wasn't a Super Danny Phantom in the wings to pick up the slack.
Danny stopped caring.
Tumblr media
It was like, now that he didn't have his powers, he was free to not care about anyone but his friends and family and about living his life free of responsibilities like any normal teenage boy.
Cause if With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.
Then...
No Powers = No Responsibility.
to be continued...

Visual Aid: Danny Phantom: The College Years
Danny Phantom: The College Years
Hey, Hartfans! So glad you were here, it means the world to me. You guys have tuned in, thanks so much. Don't forget to subscribe to this amazing channel because, you know what? It's an amazing thing to do. Because when you do that, you become super powerful! No, I'm sorry, that's a promise I can't keep.
Alright, Danny Phantom. Danny Phantom, we do a lot of Danny Phantom videos here on the channel, and why is that? I love Danny Phantom. That's a show I created back in the year 2000, and I think I created it in 2001 but it didn't even start airing until 2004. So I worked on it for about three years before it even got onto television, and it was such a great show to develop. So now I'm working on the fast-paced, rapid-fire world of Fairly Odd Parents, now I've got to work on a whole different show, Danny Phantom. And Danny Phantom ends in 2007. It, uh, you know, the show wasn't getting picked up, they were done - and networks do this sometimes. They certainly don't want to do every single show by one creator, I learned that. *Laughs* "Hey, why don't you guys do ALL my shows?!"
*whispers* Would have been fun, though, huh? 'Magine- wouldn't it be cool, all Butch Hartman sh-, I have, anyway. And just, it's a dre-am.
So, anyway, Danny Phantom stopped, in my opinion, too early. So when I got to do more Danny Phantom ideas here on the YouTube channel, I just couldn't believe how awesome that was. I got to do Danny Phantom 10 Years Later, what would the characters look like ten years later. But I was thinking, what if we did a video where it wasn't Danny Phantom ten years later, he's 24. What if we did a Danny Phantom video where he's just out of high school, and he's in college? Danny Phantom, the college years. What would that be like? What would happen to Danny Phantom, Sam Manson, and Tucker Foley if we caught them in college? What would that be like? What type of a show would that be? I mean, let's just picture that for a second.
Tumblr media
Danny Fenton is now, let's say, 18, 19 years old, and how's he dressing now? I think we still have to dress him in the classic Fenton, Danny Fenton t-shirt, but maybe there's a hoodie over it. Maybe there's some type of other uh, uh, stuff he wears to - obviously to, to make him more hip and more uh, giving more trendy for the time. But what is Danny all about? Because this would take place after Phantom Planet. Phantom Planet is where Danny saved the world from a Disasteroid. He turned the world intangible with the help of every ghost in the Ghost Zone. Earth became intangible, the asteroid passed through it, and uh, Danny uh, is now revered throughout the planet earth. He's like, uh, the world's ultimate star - ultimate superhero. If he's gonna continue to, to walk in that storyline, what would Danny's life be like? I mean, he's gotta go to college, right? He's got to continue learning, and so do Sam and Tucker. But what is that gonna be like?
Tumblr media
Now, Tucker is the mayor of Amity Park. Yeah. So, Tucker's now the 18 - he's been mayor probably for four or five years now. Maybe he keeps getting reelected because he's popular, and he's funny, and I think with Tucker's technology, I think Tucker has technified - ooh, Technus. Oppertunity for Technus - I think technified uh, Amity Park like crazy. I think there's just electronic billboards everywhere, I think there are uh, parking meters you can just press your thumb to them and pay for your parking. I think there's retina scans everywhere. I think Tucker just tried to make life so much easier for Amity Parkians. And maybe Tucker has become a world-renowned of, uh, of, of how to run a city. *Laughs* That Might be kind of cool. AND he still wants to go to college, and so I think Tucker would probably be a teacher at the college at this young age. I think he's probably the youngest teacher.
Tumblr media
I think the school they would go to is probably... I was gonna call it Amity University because it's in Amity Park, but I have a feeling since Danny's now a, a world hero, I think they're probably going to call it Fenton University, I think they name it after him. But I think Tucker uh, is, is probably the greatest mayor that's ever lived, at least as far as advancing his city. I just think Tucker wouldn't have time to teach at a college at this point, he's still young, he's still the mayor, people are lovin' what he does. And I just think he's actually going on lecture tours to other mayors. *Laughs* He's out to other cities to show them how to advance as well. I think that technology can even be turned against him in a huge way. Maybe Technus at one point can turn the entire city of Amity Park against Danny.
Tumblr media
Danny, uh, can't really go anywhere on his own because he's always got people following him. I think people trying to get his picture, but I think people are used to it.
Tumblr media
No matter where Danny goes, if he's in a coffee shop, I can see a shot where they're sitting in the coffee shop and the camera's looking at them, but you see out the window all these people pressed against the glass, trying to see Danny. I think Danny's life has become really, really, uh, just not a life of his own. He's like a rock star now and he doesn't have any privacy. And Sam, I think, is stuck by him. Number one, I think she loves him and he loves her, so they stick together everywhere. But they're trying to find ways to be alone, and I think they're trying to find ways to still accomplish the mission which is, even though all the ghosts have teamed up with Danny and saved the Earth, I still think when the ghosts went back into the Ghost Zone uh, they uh, still love the game of fighting Danny. I think there are some other ghosts we haven't even met yet that, uh, think it was a mistake to save the Earth, and they want to destroy Danny even more than ever now. You know, being a college student, Danny would still have to do his homework. He's still i-if he wants to be treated just like anybody else.
Tumblr media
I think Dani, D-A-N-I, Danielle Fenton, she probably goes to college now, too. She's probably a year behind Danny, or two years behind Danny. I think he's more of a wild card though. I think she's more of a street kid, and she's used to being on the streets and I think she, she doesn't have the sympathetic side that Danny does. I almost think Dani would be like Dr. Manhattan and the Watchmen, in a way. Not where he's so aloof and just removed from humanity, but he really can't relate to people the same way anymore.
Tumblr media
As I'm sitting here, talking about this, I think it'd be kind of cool where the whole arc of the story would be Danny trying to maintain his humanity. Because his human side wants to be with people, but the people are so swarming him, he can't relate to them anymore. He wants to be away from them. So maybe his ghost side starts taking over and wants to be more alone, whereas in The Watchmen, Dr. Manhattan went to Mars to be alone, maybe Danny goes somewhere. Maybe Danny moves into the Ghost Zone for a while. I can see Danny having a uh, loft apartment in the Ghost Zone, and him and Sam go hang out there just to get away from everybody. That's the one place people can't follow them.
But What about Jazz Fenton, Danny's sister? What would she be doing at this point? I mean, Danny's world famous, he's got to be watched and protected. Two theories. One, Jazz could be a professor at Fenton University as well. But one fan theory, and I like this theory, suggests that maybe Jazz marries Dash Baxter? I don't know. Maybe. I think, though, Jazz becomes Danny's handler. I think Jazz is constantly moving Danny from place to place. She's his protector, she's his PR person. She is his ultimate Danny Phantom social media director, everything.
Again, these are things I think about as I'm sitting here behind this desk because I never leave this desk. I'm actually fused to the desk. I'm half-man, half-desk, all Butch Hartman.
All right, we have to introduce new characters, too. We have to have new students in school, with secrets. We'd have to have new teachers, with secrets. Uh, and since he's known worldwide, I, I think he's always being challenged. I think Danny's always being challenged to see how good he is, so I think he's constantly having to fight.

Here’s an old, partial Danny Phantom fic I’d started at one point. Post-Phantom Planet
“Man,” Danny groaned, “sometimes I just wish no one else knew my secret!” It wasn’t a secret anymore, of course. The entire world knew. But things would be easier if they didn’t. Wouldn’t they? Maybe not, given how literally Desiree grants wishes.
Whoever thought being rich and famous would be great had clearly never experienced a taste of either. Danny Fenton had, at different times, experienced both. At first, being rich had seemed like a dream come true, but it hadn’t taken him—or anyone else in his family, for that matter—long to realize that he’d been happier before it had happened. They’d had the good fortune to be able to leave the life of the rich behind—and, with it, their mansion next to Vlad Masters’ home, thankfully—and resume their normal lives again, all the wiser for their experience.
Being famous was something that had happened exclusively to Danny. For all that he wasn’t the genius in the family, he was the one who had ghost powers. He was Danny Phantom. He was Amity Park’s hero. Well, he was now that he was no longer Public Enemy Number One. And, since the fiasco with the Disasteroid, he was the acknowledged hero worldwide.
He hadn’t wanted that recognition, exactly. He’d have been happy just to get his parents off his back. He hadn’t needed statues of him to be built in every capital city of the world. That was just embarrassing, he’d thought. Yes, he’d saved everyone, but he’d had help, and anyone—well, except for maybe Vlad, who would have done so only for his own purposes—would have saved everyone if they’d been able to simply because they’d had the opportunity. He hadn’t done anything special.
But he was being hailed as a hero nonetheless, and with that, he got a lot of unwanted attention.
Things had been simpler, really, back when his ghost powers had been a secret from all but a select few. Danny Phantom was still famous in Amity Park, and he was either hunted by ghost hunters, his parents included, or hounded by fans, but he could leave all that behind. He could step out of the limelight. A quick change in an empty room, darkened alley, abandoned building, what have you, and he could return to being plain old Danny Fenton. Just a kid, a loser, the lowest of the low on Casper High’s social food chain and the favourite punching bag of one Dash Baxter.
Okay, so maybe being plain old Danny Fenton had had its downsides, too, but he’d never been mobbed by people or followed by the media or anything when he wasn’t Phantom. And, heck, the time Amorpho had shown up, they’d both learned the value of anonymity. He’d loved being able to leave the spotlight behind.
That wasn’t possible now.
The whole world knew his secret. Not just his best friends, Sam and Tucker, and his sister, Jazz, along with a variety of his enemies, Vlad included. It had its benefits, of course. His parents didn’t hunt him anymore, and they’d accepted him. Valerie had even apologized to him for hunting him down, too. Dash didn’t try to shove him into lockers anymore. His teachers would let him write make-up tests if a ghost attacked and he had to leave during the middle of an exam, and they were more lenient on homework due dates for him, too, so he was doing better in school.
The best part, though, was that he and Sam were together now. And it meant Tucker had stopped making cracks about them being lovebirds, for the most part. But he wasn’t clueless anymore, and he knew how much Sam meant to him, how much she’d always meant to him, and it was even easier than he’d thought to overlook Paulina and any of the other girls who had tried to get a date with him after his secret had been revealed.
The fact that Vlad was gone, stuck on the Disasteroid and floating somewhere in space, didn’t hurt anything, either. The rest of the ghosts still plagued Amity Park since his parents had fixed the Fenton Ghost Portal, but at least they didn’t try to capture anyone (except for him, especially in Skulker’s case). Danny couldn’t help but wonder if it was out of boredom—along with a desire to escape the Ghost Zone, of course. But for all that a bunch of the local ghosts kept trying to push the limits, they hadn’t tried ganging up on him and he hadn’t had to deal with anyone really, really strong. The fact that everyone knew his secret, that it was no longer something that the ghosts could hold over his head and taunt him with, meant the dynamic had shifted a bit.
But it was the other shift, the fact that Danny Fenton was just as famous as Danny Phantom, that Danny was having trouble getting used to. And it had been, what, three months? He hadn’t had any peace. Any.
The media trailed him wherever he was. People stared at him, even kids he’d known all his life. His parents had gotten an unlisted number, but it had gotten out somehow, and the phone kept ringing off the hook. His dad was threatening to get rid of the phone altogether if it didn’t stop. He had to keep switching cell phone numbers, too. And the letters. He’d gotten letters requesting help from people in different countries, for goodness sakes! He wasn’t even sure how they’d gotten his address.
He’d had to close his email account for the same reason, as well as the one he’d opened to replace it, and it hadn’t taken him long to realize that people were using every form of communication they could to get in touch with him.
They weren’t going to move. He should be thankful for that. But he’d heard his parents mention it, if only wistfully. While the attention wasn’t focused on them, they weren’t spared from it, either, and neither was Jazz.
It was getting to the point where Danny would actually be quite happy to go and visit Aunt Alicia for a few weeks. It might be Tucker’s worst nightmare, but right now, he’d welcome escaping technology. He would miss running water and indoor plumbing a lot more than electricity, but at least it would be difficult for them to follow him, wouldn’t it?
Probably not. Back when he’d only been famous as Phantom, Danny had realized that some of the media people were really determined. And crazy. Admirable, he supposed, but annoying for him, since too many of them seemed to see him as their newest ‘story’. Now? Now, it was just ten times worse. A hundred, even.
His mom was still talking about home schooling them, too. Invisibility and intangibility—and flight, when it came down to it—really helped to get away from the press, but the constant attention wasn’t easy, and it was even wearing on Jazz. She didn’t show it much, but Danny could see it.
The pile of broken pencils in the garbage can beside the desk in her room made that pretty clear, too.
At least his parents had managed to hold off the Guys in White. They were probably the main reason Danny hadn’t been shipped off and locked away in some government facility to be studied for the unique specimen he was. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that the Guys in White hadn’t given up, that they weren’t just waiting until everything died down a bit, until they could find some loophole that would tie his parents’ hands and let them spirit him away….
He wasn’t safe anymore. He’d never really been safe safe, not since the accident, but he’d been marginally safer when his secret had been, well, a secret. The Guys in White were determined, after all, and had become increasingly competent. Him being half-human wasn’t enough to stop them from seeing him as a ghost to be dissected and studied, nothing more than an unfeeling and exceedingly unique specimen. If he’d had any doubts, they’d all been banished by the way he’d been chased down when his secret had first been revealed to the world during the incident with the Reality Gauntlet.
Then, he’d been able to turn the clock back, in a way. He’d remodelled reality, let it resemble what it was supposed to, the way things had been before Freakshow had escaped and used the Reality Gauntlet in the first place. He’d taken away the memories of the entire nightmarish incident from everyone except those who had known beforehand. Everything had gone back to normal, or, at least, what had become normal. It had been a relief.
He didn’t have any such solace now, though he couldn’t say he regretted not having to keep a secret from his parents.
There was a meteor shower tonight, so at least he didn’t have to wonder which ghost was likely to show up. Desiree never missed anything like this. She had an annoying habit of managing to turn up at little kids’ birthday parties, too, he’d found. She was easy enough to deal with, but she always managed to wreak a little bit of havoc before he caught her. And tonight, well, she could be anywhere.
That was why he was out early; only the first stars were starting to show up. He was invisible, of course. That was the only way he could go anywhere without being followed these days. This time last year, he probably would have taken a bit of time to enjoy studying the night sky. Once he caught Desiree, the only ones who could’ve stopped him would’ve been his parents, or maybe Valerie, unless one of his ghostly enemies had decided to show up.
A quick patrol meant Desiree was still managing to keep ahead of him. The first few shooting stars streaked across the sky, and Danny started his rounds again, looking for a party of some sort. Desiree was more likely to go to a larger crowd of people than to pick off strag—
“Ghost boy!”
Danny blinked. He wasn’t flying over Casper High anymore, and he didn’t need his ghost sense going off to tell him why. As it was, he was holding Paulina. Drifting lazily above her backyard. Danny put her down on the grass. “Paulina,” he said slowly, “you know I’m dating Sam….” Paulina wasn’t the only one who had persisted in calling him ‘ghost boy’, but she was one of the few girls Sam hadn’t been able to scare off. Danny had the uncomfortable feeling that Paulina saw this as a challenge, and she was stubborn enough not to back down. This just proved it. Again.
Paulina Sanchez pulled a face. “Danny,” she purred, “just for one night, don’t you think—?”
“For the last time, no, Paulina,” Danny said. He turned around to see a smirking Desiree. He was surprised she was still here, actually, but he supposed she was waiting for Paulina to make another wish. He could guess what it was.
He let his hands glow green as he rose in the air to face Desiree. “It wasn’t very smart to let her wish me here, you know,” he said. “You’re just making my job easier.”
Desiree laughed. “I grant them as I hear them, Phantom.”
Danny frowned. “No, you don’t. You twist them. That’s what you do. Make monster trucks actual monster trucks and all that.” He glanced back down at Paulina. “What’d you wish for?” he asked, suddenly wary.
“Oh, the usual boring drivel,” Desiree answered. “To spend the night in your arms and that sort of thing. You’re confined here until dawn, if you’re wondering, while I’m out granting wishes.” Her smile grew suddenly. “Have fun.”
“Hey!” Danny yelled, sending an ectoblast after her. She might not have had a lot of time to grant wishes, but she still looked a bit too strong to be easily caught in the thermos, even if he wished her in there. “You can’t do that!”
Another laugh. “I already have.”
Danny sent another ectoblast in her direction and flew towards her. Desiree hadn’t trapped him in a cage, after all. She couldn’t seriously expect—
Danny groaned and twisted around in the air to right himself after the impact. He’d hit…something, and had only barely managed to dodge his own ectoblast, which had been reflected back at him by that same something. “What’d you do,” he asked, rubbing his nose, “put up an invisible ghost shield that only works on me?”
Desiree, who was three feet away and somehow out of his reach, smirked again. “Height restriction’s twenty feet,” she said.
“My parents can get me out of here, you know,” he warned her.
Desiree shrugged. “It won’t matter what form you’re in. You’re not leaving that yard until the sun comes up, even through the Ghost Zone. You might as well enjoy yourself.”
“Enjoy myself?” Danny repeated. “Sam’s going to kill me even if I don’t land all night!” This was one benefit with Desiree; he could sometimes distract her with conversation, so long as he watched what he said. It wasn’t much different than letting Technus get caught up in one of his rants, really. It bought him time.
Of course, he still had no idea what to wish for to get out of this.
Then again, maybe he didn’t have to. Danny smiled. He’d fought Desiree often enough that he’d realized he could sometimes exploit a loophole in one of her wishes, sort of like she could take a general wish and turn it into a nightmare. He didn’t know the exact terms of this one, but he was pretty sure it would work.
Desiree noticed his smile and crossed her arms. “You aren’t getting out of this one until your time’s up,” she said.
“I can make Paulina regret her words,” he said. “She’ll kick me out. I’ll catch up with you in five minutes.”
“I’ll save you the trouble,” Desiree said. “You can’t go invisible or intangible, as per your friend’s instructions. She didn’t want to lose her hold on you.”
Great. That probably meant that even if he did manage to get out of the yard, he’d be bogged down by everyone else he was trying to avoid. “Hey, wait!” he yelled as Desiree started off again. “I’m not done talking to you yet.”
A laugh. “I’m done with you,” came the reply. “Can’t you hear all the wishes people are making, Phantom? It’s glorious.”
It was also resulting in, from what he could see, things like three-headed dragons and wild horses and—who the heck would wish for a fifty-foot snake? Okay, so he couldn’t understand the dragon, either. He suspected the horses were a result of a little girl wishing for a pony or two, though. Stupid traditions of wishing on shooting stars….
“I wish,” Danny yelled, causing Desiree to stop and look back at him again, “I wish…. Man, sometimes I just wish no one else knew my secret!” He wouldn’t be in this position if Paulina didn’t know he was Fenton and Phantom. Well, he might be in this position as Phantom, but if he’d snuck away and Fenton turned up, he’d be out on the street in no time. Before she’d found out he was the ghost boy, the only time Paulina had had time for him was when she’d wanted something.
Desiree had an incredulous look on her face, and she flew closer to him again. “Really?” she asked.
Danny suddenly had a very, very bad feeling. “Um…no?”
He’d asked Clockwork if he could have a do-over of the events that followed the Disasteroid and had been refused. He hadn’t thought to ask Desiree before. Well, yes, he had, but he’d ruled that out. Desiree couldn’t pull something like that off. As far as he knew, it was out of her power range.
Danny looked at Desiree’s enlarged form and swallowed.
Her usual power range, anyway.
Now that he thought about it, it probably wasn’t. If he hadn’t revealed himself in front of the TV cameras, the people who knew his secret would be considerably fewer. And Desiree could handle wiping the memories of a handful of people. She’d done it when she’d erased Sam from his life, after all.
Oh, crud. Why had he ever opened his mouth? He knew better than to make careless wishes in front of Desiree. And he knew he could’ve said something a heck of a lot more harmless.
Unfortunately, there was ‘knowing’ and there was ‘doing’.
“I, uh, take it back? I wish I hadn’t made that wish?”
Desiree laughed. “Doesn’t work like that,” she said. “So you have wished it, so shall it be!”
As the wave of power rolled towards Danny, he closed his eyes and flinched away, knowing things were going to be a whole lot worse when he opened them again.
2XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
“Yoo-hoo! Ghost boy!”
Danny cracked open one eye. Desiree was gone, but that wasn’t a surprise. With both eyes open again, he tentatively put a hand forward and found that he was still bound to Paulina’s yard. Great. That hadn’t changed, either.
He looked down to see Paulina waving at him and couldn’t help but wonder if anything had changed. Maybe Desiree had been bluffing after all. About being able to un-wish a wish, at least. She probably hadn’t been kidding about putting a cap on how high he could fly or anything like that, though. He wasn’t that lucky.
He sighed and drifted back to the ground. “Paulina, I can’t—”
“Oh, you remember me!” He suddenly found himself enfolded in a hug. “I knew you would!”
“Uh, Paulina?” Danny said, trying—and failing—to phase through her arms to get out of her death grip. “Why didn’t you think I’d know who you were?” Maybe Desiree hadn’t been bluffing after all.
Paulina smiled at him. “We never have been properly introduced,” she said.
Danny swallowed. Okay, Desiree hadn’t been bluffing. But he didn’t really want to find out what Paulina meant by ‘properly introduced’. This time last year, yes, he probably would’ve been overjoyed. Now?
Now, he had to get out of here before Sam really had a reason to kill him.

Phanniemay18 Day Thirteen: Swap
Day Thirteen: Swap
Genre: General
Words: 966
Danny had his ghost powers seven years before Phantom slowly started to influence his human appearance.
He knew that at twenty-one years old, it wasn't very common to grow white hair, so when Sam noticed the gradual discoloration in the back of his hair one day, he acted appropriately. He panicked.
Obviously, his first assumption was that he was slowly becoming more and more ghostly, even in his human form. Was he dying? Was he going full ghost? Were his two forms merging?
He wasn't steered off that train of thought for a while, even when Sam reassured him that the tests his parents did on him guaranteed that his core was stable. She also reminded him that the results concluded that Fenton and Phantom would remain two separate forms and that the only way he would become a full ghost would be dying. And then, Sam proceeded to lecture him on the benefits of not finishing dying early (mostly because she was worried he'd accidentally go off and die because of his recklessness).
But after that, things only got more confusing when Phantom, started growing black hairs in the same place white-hairs appeared on his human form. It was definitely a lot more visible as Phantom too; black hair on white hair had a lot more contrast than white hair on black. And that meant that it wasn't long before his hair problem started attracting the paparazzi, who normally stayed away from him after the chaos following the Disasteroid crisis... unless there was something concrete brewing in the gossip department.
Suddenly, everyone (including himself) was questioning why Phantom had suddenly grown black hairs, and why Fenton had grown white.
And, he still had no answers.
He finally forced his Mom to do more tests on him to clarify that his ghost side was overcoming his human side, and thankfully, that wasn't the situation. He also wasn't dying, so that was good too.
But it still didn't explain why his hair was changing color in both of his forms at a progressively fast rate. After a month after noticing the first few white hairs, the discoloration had reached to the bottoms of his ears. And it didn't look like it was slowly down.
In a hopeless attempt, he tried dying his hair black as Fenton. But, when he transformed into Phantom, nothing had changed with his ghost form. Later that day, he discovered that when he turned back into Fenton, the dye had completely dissipated, only leaving his hair a lot more dry than usual.
He did more tests, only to still have a lack of sensible answers. For Clockwork's sake, he was twenty-one years old and now half of his hair was pure white! Something had to be wrong with him, right? It had to be some kind of error because of his hybrid status. There was no other explanation that he could find appropriate to the circumstances.
By the time his hair had gone white up to his eye level, Danny eventually resigned to his fate and gave up trying to find an explanation. It had been going on for at least eight months, and so far nothing had changed about him besides his hair. Now he would just have to live with the fact that Fenton would have white hair, and Phantom would have black; a basic swap of his two forms. It wasn't preferable, but he supposed it wasn't that big of a change. Thankfully he didn't have a secret identity anymore, because this would've been a horrible reveal.
Danny didn't find out the cause behind his hair problem until after the swap had completely settled, a year after the change had started.
In all of his panicking, he'd always confronted his mother about his worries and the prevalent tests on his ghost half. She was better with the biological side, while his dad was always better with the technological aspect. So, somehow, he had simply avoided talking to his dad about it, and Jack had never really pressed the issue concerning Danny's hair (even though it was blatantly obvious). Until one day, Danny learned why.
“I assume you knew,” Jack shrugged. “I must have told you at some point, Danno. But my hair turned white starting about my twenties, and so did my dad, and his, and so on. I mean, it didn't happen as rapidly as yours, and I definitely didn't go full white-haired until at least my thirties, but I guess that the ectoplasm in your DNA sped up the rate it happened.”
“Wait, so you had full white hair in your thirties? Your hair is still partially black though!” Danny said.
“That's because I only dye half of it,” Jack explained. “I never really liked the white hair, but I... I always partially dyed my hair black because of what happened to Vladdie all those years ago with his hair. I wanted to not make him feel as isolated. I used to never understand why he didn't dye it, but I suppose from what you've told me, half-ghosts can't really use hair dye, huh?”
“Yeah,” Danny groaned. “It sucks. I just want my hair colors to go back to how they were.”
“Hey,” Jack reassured, “on the bright-side, you still have black hair, just not in human form. You just swapped.”
“Yeah, I guess that's true,” Danny agreed, realization truly sinking in. Suddenly, he looked back at Jack accusingly, “Also, you're stupid for not telling me. It's been a year, Dad.”
Jack had to laugh a little bit. “You never asked!”
“I was so freaked out, it's not funny! Wait a minute...” Danny paused, remembering something else, “does mom not know that you dye your hair?”
“Uh...” he shifted nervously, “can you not tell your mother this?”
“Dad!”

I really really love and want
a Danny Phantom and Supergirl crossover
Where the Disasteroid actually came and destroyed the Earth but not before Danny and his family tried to escape through one of the Ghost Zone portals but only he made it through and then he lands in National City, all depressed and angsty and grief-stricken over the loss of everyone he LOVES!!!!!
Then Kara finds him after a completed mission or something crying in an alley and mourning over Sam and Tucker and Jazz and Mom and Dad and...just, EVERYONE!!
SO THEN KARA THINKS 'I CAN'T JUST LEAVE THIS BOY ALONE' AND GOES AND COMFORTS HIM BECAUSE SHE KNOWS WHAT IT'S LIKE TO LOSE YOUR WHOLE WORLD AND EVERYTHING YOU'VE EVER KNOWN.
THEN EVENTUALLY DANNY GOES TO LIVE WITH KARA AND HE AND WINN BECOME GREAT FRIENDS AND ALEX TRIES TO TEACH HIM MORE EFFICIENT FIGHTING TECHNIQUES AND THEN THEY ALL LEARN THAT DANNY IS HALF GHOST AND HE'S SCARED THAT THEY'LL HURT HIM OR SOMETHING BUT THEN THEY ALL LIKE "Nah man, you cool. I mean we deal with aliens on a daily basis." And he's just accepted into they're small family.
AND THEN NOT TO MENTION THAT KARA KNOWS ABOUT THE MULTIVERSE!!! SO THEN SHE TELLS HIM THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE EARTHS AND THAT GIVES DANNY HOPE THAT HE'LL ONE DAY FIND THIS EARTH'S TUCKER AND SAM AMD JAZZ AND MAYBE EVEN HIMSELF.
But then he decides not too, because if he met their dopplegangers, then it wouldn't be the Sam amd Tucker and Jazz that he knew. And then Danny just KNOWS that the best way to honor their memory is to just remember them as they are.
And then a few months after Danny goes to live with Kara....
DANNY PHANTOM MAKES HIS FIRST APPEARANCE!!!!!!!!!
I LOVE THIS IDEA SO MUCH, CAN SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE THIS?!?!?!?!?

Theme: Hope/Hatred
“I know you’re upset, and that’s okay, but I think we can both admit that you aren’t being entirely fair to him.”
Damon was sitting in one of the two unmatched chairs that, together, made up two-thirds of their living room furniture, the only other piece being the cabinet their TV sat on. His daughter had just walked into the room and caught the end of a segment on Danny Phantom (which had become ubiquitous in the week since the Disasteroid event) that he was half-listening to while he stitched some torn clothes. Valerie had taken to opportunity to remind anyone who might be listening that Danny didn’t deserve all the praise he was getting.
Damon had never actually followed the news about Danny Phantom, and he certainly didn’t have the same relationship with him his daughter had had, both as a ghost hunter (he still felt like he was having a mild heart attack whenever he thought of how much danger she had been in on a regular basis) and as a fellow student. In a way, though, he felt like that allowed him some perspective that his daughter might benefit from. He felt that her feelings toward Danny had more to do with her relationship with him that anything to do with the boy himself.
“I don’t think we can,” she responded, straightening her back like she was about to give a presentation. “In fact, I feel like I’m the only one who’s being fair. So he saved the world, so what? We don’t even know why he did it - Danny lives on Earth, maybe he was just doing it to not lose his home. That doesn’t prove that he cares about anyone, especially not us.” Damon hated the harsh tone in his daughter’s voice, but he didn’t know what he could say to erase it.
“Valerie …”
“Don’t give me that look. Phantom - Danny - he doesn’t care about us. It’s been a week, and nothing. He ruined our lives and he can’t even manage an apology?”
“He didn’t -” She held up her hand.
“Don’t, dad. We both know that things were better before you lost your job.” He followed her gaze to the shirt and sewing supplies he had put down on his lap. He couldn't truly deny that he missed a time when he would have just gotten a new shirt. But that wasn’t the point.
“He probably just hadn’t had the chance to talk. I’m sure you’ll see him once the reporters give him a break.”
“No, it isn’t that he hasn’t talked to me that’s the problem.” Valerie sounded frustrated, like she was stating the obvious and didn’t understand why Damon was not getting it. “He’s caused plenty of damage, but he hasn’t acknowledged it once. He’s done so many interviews the past seven days, you’d think he could spare a few words for the people he’s hurt. We deserve that much. But no, he’s too busy talking about how he just did what was right and anyone in his position would do the same and how he’s just so perfect and good. God forbid the world’s hero admit he’s ever done anything wrong.”
Valerie was looking at the floor now, and Damon suddenly realized that it was not just anger that he heard in her voice. There was grief there as well. Had she perhaps thought that, with his secret identity revealed, Danny would apologize for what he had done as Phantom? When he didn’t, had Valerie’s hope turned to hatred?
Damon wished for the millionth time that he knew how to talk to his daughter to make her feel better. It seemed far too often that, when he tried to talk to her about her feelings, it always came across like he was just telling her not to be upset, and that just made her more upset and less willing to talk. But maybe if he could get her to see Danny the way he did - perhaps not as a hero, but not as a villain either, maybe that would help.
“Of course he’s done wrong, but who hasn’t? It doesn’t mean he’s not a good person. I don’t fully understand what he did back then at Axion, but I’m sure he didn’t do it on purpose.”
“That doesn’t make it better!” she yelled, throwing her hands in the air. “He did them, and then never thought about them again, because he doesn’t care about anyone but himself, and maybe his stupid girlfriend. And he’s going to keep hurting people because he can’t be bothered to admit his mistakes and learn from them. No matter how many lives he’s saved, if he can’t even do that, he’s not a hero. And I refuse to praise him as one like everyone else.”
Valerie sat down firmly on the other chair and crossed her arms. She was looking away from Damon, but he could see the tension in her face and body and he knew he had said the wrong thing once again.
“You don’t have to.” He sighed, unsure if he could explain without it coming out like an excuse. “I’m sorry if it sounded like I was telling you how to feel or what to think; I didn’t mean to. I was just trying to tell you why I don’t think Danny is as bad as you think he is. But of course, I can’t change your mind - only you can do that, and only if you’re willing.” Valerie’s posture had softened somewhat. She still wasn’t looking at him, but he could tell she wasn’t glaring. If anything, she seemed tired. Damon could not believe that she wanted to be so angry all the time. It must be exhausting.
“Are you willing to change your mind, Valerie?” he asked in a soft voice. Now she looked at him, eyes squinted in suspicion. She was clearly ready to be angry again if need be. Damon continued in the same tone. “If he were to do something, or say something, that showed that he cared, would you be willing to forgive him?” Valerie’s body was tense again.
“It would have to be something pretty dang impressive.” But she suddenly dropped the defensive posture. Perhaps Damon’s sadness at her reply had shown on his face, because she quickly amended, “But, yeah, I guess I might change my mind.” Damon smiled, and the smile he received back from his daughter was the first one he had seen in a week.

Chapter 2: “Allies come in all forms”
It took a couple of days for the Fentons to calibrate the scanners as well as double and triple check that they were safe to use without hurting Danny. After that, Jack and Maddie worked diligently to create a stabilising agent to help Danielle. Danny couldn’t believe that they were finally going to have some closure with Dani and actually help her in the right way. Then, just as all their planning and preparations were coming together, it was time for Danny and Jazz to go back to school.
With the whole end-of-the-world thing, plus the investigation into Vlad, and the Fentons subsequent partnership with the FBI, suffice to say the kids had been allowed to take a couple of weeks off from school. This gave the young ghost hero and his family plenty of time to adjust to their new norm. Even though some people knew Danny's secret identity now, not everyone did and the family as well as the FBI preferred to keep it that way– both to give Danny some semblance of normalcy, and to prevent excitable members of the public from acting foolish.
The Casper High administration knew that because the family had been involved with the Disasteroid task force, the kids were approved for the time off ‘recommendation’ made by the government. The next Monday both kids would be returning to school. For Danny, that meant it was time to accept the fact that he was going to tell Mr. Lancer his secret.
Although the plan had been to keep Danny’s identity top secret, Maddie suggested that they at least tell Mr. Lancer. Not only was he the teacher that sent Danny to detention the most often, he was also the vice principal. As such, he had a big impact on Danny’s grades. Getting him on their side would surely be a big help.
Jazz wasn’t so sure about that, and Danny agreed. Lancer knowing wouldn't change the fact that he was still going to have to skip class to fight troublemaking ghosts all the time.
It was surprisingly Jack who reminded them that their parents were in fact ghost hunters. They could compare their information with Danny’s and update their techniques to hunt ghosts correctly, especially the ones that appeared during school hours. Maddie added that it was okay to ask for help and sharing some of the work would help Danny learn to manage his time better in a way that would aid him not only in school, but in life as well.
After a lot of back and forth, in the end even Jazz saw it as a good solution. When Danny told Sam and Tucker, at first they were sceptical of the plan, just like he had been, however, with a bit of explaining, they understood why it was a good idea. They knew their friend needed better time management skills after all.
Now, the night before the first day of school, the Fenton family was once again sitting at their kitchen table planning something. It always seemed like the best time for these conversations was over dinner.
“So, just to be clear,” Danny began his summary. “You guys are going to drive us to school in the morning so you can meet with Lancer after first period –which I do have with him. And if anybody asks why you’re hanging around the school, you’re going to say that you’re tracking ghostly activity, right?” “Yeah, that’s the plan, son. It’s that simple!” Jack replied confidently. “You know, you two still need to say that you and ‘Danny’ have finally decided to work together.” Jazz’s air quotes around her brother's name let their parents know she was specifically referring to Danny Phantom. “What are you talking about Jazz? I think just about the whole world knows that...” Danny trailed off when it hit him that she meant Phantom, not Fenton.
“Well, technically, they know that we as a family–and the rest of Amity Park, for that matter–worked with you, Little Brother. But Mom and Dad haven’t exactly said anything official about a permanent truce, or anything else really…” Jazz clarified. “I mean, the people that know, you know… they, well, they know that’s not entirely true, but it’s also not a lie… I mean, they are working with their son...”
“I see what you mean, darling, and you’re right…” Maddie rubbed her chin in thought. “We could mention it at the school before we meet with Mr. Lancer–if anyone asks, that is–that the Fentons are working permanently with the ghost boy. And once we explain your… situation to Mr. Lancer, well, he would understand why we were telling people now.”
They hadn’t thought about how it would look, working with Danny Phantom out of nowhere. They hadn’t thought they needed to make some sort of announcement, but they did. In order to keep people from wondering why, in order to keep Danny’s secret safe.   “Your Mom is right! That would also help to keep your secret, well, secret… wait...” said Jack, getting confused with the whole conversation. Danny sighed, “I guess, you guys are right… but please… don’t overdo it… I can handle it, I have been handling all of it fine.” He was beginning to worry that if their parents allied themselves with him, they were going to be in danger, or something along those lines.
“Don’t worry Little Brother, I have anticipated the most likely questions that people might ask after they hear that our parents are working with Phantom and written them down on these cue cards,” at this she pulled a small stack of cards out of thin air and handed them to their parents, “as well as some pre-planned answers. Stick to these and you won’t overdo it.”  “Oh, that’s great, Jazzy–pants!” said Jack, with a big smile. His children never ceased to amaze him with their ingenuity. He was so proud.
“We’ll read over these, don’t worry Jazz. And thank you,” Maddie added, smiling proudly as well. “Okay… I guess that’s it then,” said Danny feeling a bit defeated. There was nothing he could really do to dissuade his parents.  “Yes, and now it’s getting late, so… kids, bedtime!” Maddie clapped her hands together with cheerful authority. The two teens nodded, said their respective ‘goodnights,’ and went upstairs.
Maddie could see that Danny was still nervous about tomorrow, and she didn’t blame him. Since finding out the truth and helping with the cure for Dani, they had gained a better understanding of how difficult things had been for their son. None of it was easy, but now they had a better idea of what it meant to be a halfa. Although Danny and his parents had learned a lot more about him and what he could do, they also knew that just like Vlad, Danny would continue to grow and develop more powers. Powers that they now knew they were going to be prepared and ready to help him with. After all, they had already managed to isolate Danny’s ghostly signature and alter their weapons so they wouldn't affect him, or Danielle for that matter. Now they only needed to wait for the weekend to finally find Dani.
While Maddie and Jack cleaned up from dinner, the kids met in Danny’s room. Jazz knew her little brother well enough to realise he wasn’t going to just tell someone that he was scared, even though he was. Not that Lancer wouldn’t believe it, but of how he would react. For that reason, for the day that awaits him tomorrow, and the fact that the family had agreed to postpone finding Danielle for the weekend, and knowing that Danny probably wouldn’t sleep well tonight, she went to her brother’s room. There Danny confirmed Jazz’s suspicions, she gently coaxed him into talking out his worries and she did her best to reassure him. Jazz promised that her cue cards would work and that he should give Mr. Lancer more credit. Even though he doesn’t always seem fair –showing favouritism to the football players or occasionally turning a blind eye to Dash’s bullying– she knew that he had helped Danny with his grades, and cared about him as his student; being a half ghost wouldn’t change that.
When Jack and Maddie finally went upstairs to get ready for bed, they overheard part of their children’s conversation. While Maddie was a bit upset with herself for not noticing just how nervous Danny was, she was grateful that Jazz had. Jack also noticed that some comfort was being passed around and he felt a surge of pride that his kids had become such kind and sensitive people.
When the next day arrived, the Fentons set their plan into motion. Jack and Maddie drove their kids to school, right on schedule, although their plans took a slight deviation after that. Rather than waiting in the parking lot with the excuse of ghost hunting, they ended up exchanging insurance information with some of the other parents. As usual, Jack’s driving was… enthusiastic. Sorting things out took them the whole first period, and by the time they got to Mr. Lancer’s office, Danny and Jazz were already there waiting for them.
“Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Fenton,” Mr. Lancer greeted them. “So glad you could join us.” “Morning!” Maddie and Jack replied at the same time, sharing a smile at the coincidence. “You two said that you needed to discuss something with me, but I’m still not entirely sure why these two,” at this Mr. Lancer gestured to where Jazz and Danny were sitting in front of his desk, “need to be here. All Jasmine would tell me is that it's a family matter, and Daniel here seems to be on the edge of a nervous breakdown.”
He looked back and forth between the kids and the parents appraisingly before closing the door to his office and offering them a seat.  With the whole family finally seated in front of Mr. Lancer's desk, Maddie began the explanation, “Well, Jazz is right, this is a family affair. And it’s about Danny...” She checked on her son who seemed to be calming down now that his parents were here. “I see...” said Mr. Lancer, pausing at his desk. “Is this because the school year is about to finish and you’re worried about his grades?” He glanced suspiciously between Danny and his parents. It wouldn't be the first time he’d seen a family rally together to help save a struggling student from being held back a year.
“What? No!” Maddie spluttered. “Well, yes… we are worried about it, but that’s not why we’re here today.” It wasn’t hard to understand why he’d come to that conclusion. It was in part why they were having this conversation, after all.  “Please, Mr. Lancer, wait until after my parents finish. Then you’ll understand what this is all about.” Jazz pleaded, hands clasped in front of her. “It’s all right, Jazz.” Danny murmured, giving her arm a calming squeeze before directing his gaze to his teacher “I kinda figured Lancer would bring that up… I mean… this whole year has been...” “Unprecedented, nightmarish, messy, crazy, ect., ect.?” Mr. Lancer supplied with a raised eyebrow, finally taking a seat at his desk. He seemed like he just caught up with the fact that he was still standing up unnecessarily.
“Yeah. All that. And ghostly…” Danny muttered the last part under his breath, avoiding eye contact with Lancer.
Maddie cleared her throat softly, “Mr. Lancer, if I may… please?” She had noticed that Danny was starting to feel bad and decided it was time to intervene. His grades were as important to him as fighting ghosts, even though it might not look like that from the outside. “Yes, of course, Mrs. Fenton. By all means, please tell me what this is all about.” Mr. Lancer had also noticed Danny’s change in attitude and decided to focus more on the parents, mainly on Maddie seeing as she was the one taking the lead. Jack sat next to her in silent support, but his worry for Danny was plain to see. “Well...” Maddie began, glancing back at Danny who nodded.
Mr. Lancer took notice of the exchange and was about to comment when Maddie finally spoke, interrupting his thoughts.
“Danny is ‘Danny Phantom.’” she said.  “What?” Mr. Lancer spluttered, caught off guard. “What in the name of the Scarlet Pimpernel! That doesn’t make any sense… What’s really going on here? I would have believed something like this from young Daniel…” he stopped, noticing that Maddie seemed to sincerely believe what she was saying.
“Danny,” the boy murmured under his breath. He was a bit annoyed that Mr. Lancer still called him ‘Daniel,’ even in moments like this. Especially in moments like this. “It’s Danny.”
Mr. Lancer looked back and forth between Maddie and her son. He began to worry that something else might be happening, something that the family either doesn’t know about, or doesn’t know how to explain. Because although his student being a ghostly superhero would explain a lot, it was impossible. Wasn’t it?
“Just show him,” Jazz suggested in a loud whisper. She knew that Mr. Lancer would believe him if only he saw it for himself. Knowledge of halfas was global now, so it wouldn’t be hard to make the connection. If they just told him without showing him, he might just think Danny was faking it, using Vlad’s revelation as inspiration.  Danny looked up at his parents who gave him an encouraging nod. “...Fine.” He sounded a bit annoyed to be put in this situation, but proceeded to stand up anyway.
“What are you doi–” Mr. Lancer began to ask. He was getting worried as to why it seemed like everyone knew something he didn’t, because show him what? “Going ghost,” Danny quietly said his catchphrase, transforming into Danny Phantom in a bright flash of light. Mr. Lancer blinked the spots from his eyes, using the silence that followed to process his thoughts. It would seem that their former Mayor wasn’t the only halfa in Amity Park. He had anticipated a few of the more creative kids would probably play pretend at being a ghost and a human at the same time, but never in his wildest dreams could he have anticipated one of his students actually being one.
A single, quiet, “Oh” was all the stunned teacher managed to say.  “Are, are you okay, Mr. Lancer?” Danny prompted, changing back into Fenton and retaking his seat. Maybe that had been a bit too much for him after all.
“You know what Mr. Fenton, that makes a lot of sense...” Mr. Lancer finally said, looking across his desk at Danny. He gave the boy a small, sad, smile, because it did make a lot of sense. “Wait, what?” Danny said, confused. He hadn’t really been expecting that reaction, even though he had assumed that Vlad’s precedent might either help or hurt his situation.
“Well, it does… The skipping school every time there’s a ghost attack, the slacking on your homework, the sleeping in class… All starting around the same time as the ghosts showed up, it makes perfect sense. I’m assuming your whole family knows, and I hope that your parents didn’t know until recently...” Mr. Lancer gave Jack and Maddie a stern look. Just thinking about the hundreds, if not thousands, of times that he saw the Fentons hunting Phantom… it couldn’t be possible, right?
“Of course, we didn’t!” said Maddie quickly. Neither she or Jack wanted this to be like their interrogation with the FBI, they didn’t want to have to defend themselves again. They love their kids, and would do anything to protect them. If they had known it all from the beginning, maybe the thing they needed protection from wouldn’t have been them. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. The possibility of losing their kids to child services like the FBI threatened them with at the start had been a rude awakening. “We would never have knowingly hunted our son,” said Jack, the normally jovial man deathly serious. He felt the same as Maddie, remembering how bad the interview with the Feds was, especially at the beginning. “Oh, for the love of… you know what, never mind.” Mr. Lancer shook his head defeatedly. “I’m not going to think about it. I am assuming that isn’t all?”
“You’re right about that,” Maddie sighed, her face serious. “Do you remember when the FBI interviewed our family and practically everyone around us?” She knew she had to say something about it regardless, he would need to understand the conditions that he was bound by now.
Mr. Lancer nodded, allowing her to continue her explanation.
“Well, they know. About Danny... Mr. Lancer, this is highly classified information we’ve just shared with you.” Her eyes pierced his, impressing on him the gravity of the situation. “They said we should keep it secret, only those who already knew and no one else.” “Oh. I see…”  Mr. Lancer’s voice was solemn with understanding. The situation was more serious than what he had originally thought. “So, your friends, Samantha and Tucker...” he raised a questioning brow at Danny. “They know. They’ve known since the beginning, actually.” Danny said with a small shrug.  “Oh, and Valerie knows… Valerie Gray. She found out while we were working on the intangibility transfer device. Well, while her father was working on it, but you know...” he shrugged again.
“I see…” Mr. Lancer nodded. “I understand.” His hunch had been correct, Danny’s friends had been covering for him in class for a while now, and he finally knew why. The mention of Miss Gray was a bit of a surprise, but it made sense if something had happened to reveal Danny’s identity while she and her father had been working on the device. That also meant that the other people who already know are those who were involved with the task force in Antarctica.
“With all that being said, Mr. Lancer,” Maddie called his attention back to her, “while we’re here, we would like your help with Danny’s schedule. I’m sure you’ve noticed that his time management skills could use some improvement.”
“I can agree with that,” Mr. Lancer said, giving Danny a faux stern look.
At this, Jack chimed in, “Now that we know what’s going on, we can help fight the ghosts that appear during school hours. We’ll probably still need to pull him into the field some, though, especially while we’re still getting used to things.”
“Very well, the three of us can continue to discuss a plan, but,” Mr. Lancer glanced up at the clock on the wall, “I think it’s time for Jazz and Danny to go back to class.”
He began to pull some papers out of a drawer in his desk while the Fentons stood up from their chairs. “All right then, I guess we should get going…” Danny said, stretching his arms above his head. He was feeling very relieved that Mr. Lancer was taking it so well and seemed eager to help. He couldn’t stop his smile as he addressed his teacher, “Thank you, Mr. Lancer.”  “Why, whatever for?” he asked with a smile. Mr. Lancer wasn’t exactly sure as to why Danny suddenly seemed more relaxed, but he couldn’t be more proud. He knew that a topic like this one must be hard for the whole family, especially Danny. “Never mind, just… Thank you.” he was still smiling as he slung his backpack over his shoulder.
“Of course,” said Mr. Lancer. He handed Danny and Jazz the papers he had just signed, “Oh, don’t forget these, your hall passes. Just give them to your teachers and your tardiness will be excused. And if there’s anything else I can do… just let me know.”  “Oh, right… Um, thank you,” Danny stuttered out, caught off guard by the kind offer.
Maddie, Jack, and Jazz watched the scene unfold, the three unable to keep the grins off their faces, they knew that all Danny needed was a little understanding and guidance. The three of them exchanged a glance, silently agreeing to each help him in their own ways.
“Let’s go, Little Brother,” Jazz looped her arm through Danny’s and pulled him towards the door, making sure they both had their hall passes. “And thanks again, Mr. Lancer! For everything! Bye, Mom! Bye, Dad!”
“Bye, Sweety!” Maddie called back, “We’ll see you at home later!”
Jack waved, voice booming as he called out, “Bye, kiddos!”
After the kids had gone, the three adults returned to their seats, they had planning to do, after all. Once sitting, Mr. Lancer pulled out a notebook and together they started brainstorming different ways to help Danny, both with school matters as well as ghost fighting activities–because they all knew he wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. They began with an easy schedule that could help Danny better make use of his time. At one point, Lancer proposed to let some of the other teachers know about Danny’s secret, but the Fentons reminded him that the information was highly classified. It’s not the sort of thing you can just go around telling people. They had to fill out so much paperwork with the FBI in order to get approval to tell just him. That’s how Mr. Lancer knew that the issue was very serious. He asked how the FBI was keeping it a secret, but all the Fentons could say was that it was classified, and no, they didn’t know either.
They had been at it for quite a long time when they heard the unmistakable sounds of a fight in the hallway. Mr. Lancer rushed to the door, the Fentons hot on his heels, thankfully, because this wasn’t your average school fight, this was a ghost fight. The three adults arrived at the scene just in time to see none other than Danny Phantom flung into a row of lockers.
Jack and Maddie decided that it was about time they joined in the hunting, that was a big part of their plan, after all. They really needed to be more alert to ghost activity during school hours so Danny could concentrate more in class. Class that Danny certainly wasn’t present for right now, for obvious reasons.
While his parents had stayed to talk with Mr. Lancer, Danny had made his way to his next class. Everything was going well, that is until Danny’s ghost sense went off. He had run out of the classroom, calling a lame excuse to his teacher on the way.
Danny found the ghost in the computer lab, it was none other than Technus. Danny had lost count of which ‘version’ he was supposed to be at this point, and he didn’t really care. Danny only knew that he was up to no good.
Every time Danny fought Technus, he boasted that his plan was better than the last and that he wouldn’t be shouting it out, and each time he failed. This time wasn’t any different. They started in the computer lab, but Danny managed to lure the ghost outside, away from all the technology in the building, only denting a few lockers on the way. Once they were on the lawn, Danny was able to create a distraction and it was in that moment that his parents attacked Technus, weakening him enough that Danny could capture him in the Fenton Thermos.
While the Fentons joined the fight, ecto-guns blazing, it was time for Mr. Lancer to play his part. Danny had probably used an oldie, but a goodie: the Toilet Excuse to get out of class, but it wouldn’t be enough for how long this fight was going to take. He knew which teacher Danny had this period, so he just needed to find a place near that classroom to wait for him and walk him personally back to class. Perhaps he could say that he’d needed the boy’s help carrying some extra textbooks or something. Danny would likely need a place to transform back–something that it would take Mr. Lancer a bit of time to get used to–but he did manage to find a good spot for that.
Once their battle was over, Danny handed the thermos to his parents so they could put Technus back in the Ghost Zone. In turn, his parents gave Danny encouraging nods and proud smiles. It was nice to be appreciated, but Danny really needed to get back to class. He was surprised to find Mr. Lancer waiting for him just inside the school to walk Danny back to his class, fake thanking him for helping with something in his office. When they reached the classroom, Lancer mentioned to Danny’s teacher that he had found Danny just outside the bathroom, and remembered something that he needed help with and Danny was perfect for the job. That explanation to Danny’s teacher was enough to avoid detention again, but it gained him snickers from his classmates. While being the butt of a joke wasn’t ideal, it was a whole lot better than detention. This whole situation might just work out after all.
Danny took a seat at his desk and decided to concentrate as much as possible on today’s lesson. Sam and Valerie tried to ask what happened, but Danny only gave them a quick thumbs up and a smile to let them know it went well. He would give them a more detailed explanation after class or during their lunch break. It was times like these that they really missed Tucker, but they knew that with him being the mayor, private tutoring was the best option for him.
At least for the rest of the day Danny wouldn’t need to worry about getting detention or fighting ghosts. He knew that his parents were going to be patrolling around the school, Lancer had his back at school, and the ghost of the day-or at least for the time being- was trapped in the Fenton Thermos. He could just relax with his girlfriend and Valerie, and he would get to do a video call with Tucker during the lunch break.
Things were looking good, after all this time, even though it had been a lot of new things to get used to. Danny never thought –even when he had seen it before– that it would feel so good telling people his secret. Of course, he wasn’t just going to go around telling people left and right, it had to be to select people. Letting Mr. Lancer into the fold had been more strategy than anything else, but it was still nice to have him on the team.
The day ended without further incident. Team Phantom enjoyed talking with their mayor friend during lunch. They caught him up with the situation at the school and told him how Lancer had reacted to the news. Tucker, likewise, updated them with the news of his personal proposal.
Because the last mayor had been a crazy halfa, and his teenage ghost hunters were fired and dismissed, the whole town had been under siege by ghost attacks. Something needed to be done, and it was going to take a lot of work for the city to recover. Tucker, as the mayor selected after a major disaster like this, would have to step up to the plate. It would be a full time job, with no time to go to school. So, the rest of the politicians and personnel of the city council decided that the best course of action was that he should have private tutors, since he hadn't graduated from high school just yet. Tucker, since winning the election and realising, or rather learning, that he wouldn’t be able to go to Casper high any longer, began working on a proposal. It was as follows: he would serve as mayor until the next election, at which point he would leave his position until later in life, should he wish to run for re-election. With his parents' help, Tucker had proposed his return to Casper high in the next school year to the city council. They had approved it, but in the meantime, Tucker had to pass his classes and learn more about politics, especially those of Amity Park. He was allowed to communicate with his old friends only during breaks, however his private tutors made sure that his schedule was similar to what he was used to. Those tutors also knew about his friends and about Danny’s secret identity, but they wouldn't say a word, not only because they got a ‘friendly’ warning from the FBI, but because they had always considered him a hero, even before he had become recognized as both a local and global hero by everyone else.
Danny Fenton was happy with how everything seemed to be working out. His parents and Mr. Lancer had come up with a good plan to help him out during school hours. They helped him to create a better way to manage his time after school that not only would allow him to keep fighting ghosts when needed, but to also just be a teen. He would have time to take care of his responsibilities, homework and chores and the like, as well as to have fun with his friends. Danny never thought that all he needed was a little help with time management. His grades were already improving, and with the rest of the school year to go, he knew he would pass his classes.
Just like that, the time flew by and the week turned into the weekend. It was finally time to look for Danielle. To be continued :D :D
