I admire, yet am horrified, at the willingness that young Padawans have to fight enemies far stronger than them, and their willingness to die for a cause they believe in. Considering the questionable things that the Order has done, and the corruption in the Senate, I don’t think dying for either is a good cause.
But then I’m inclined to believe that their belief in the Force is what makes it so easy for them to be so brave, and to put their lives on the line.

i don't think there's a single thing about ahsoka i can say that hasn't already been said over the last like 15 years but seriously. seriously. how insane was it that their answer to solving anakin skywalker's less than stellar post prequels reputation was to 1) give him a little sister and 2) make her absolutely fucking crazy
#like ahsoka was the audience stand in for maybe a season and then she just like. hi shes insane and also INSANELY competent now#ahsoka tano#so maybe i rewatched padawan lost recently and boy is she on the brain#tcw#swtcw#its like shes more mature than both anakin and obi wan in some episodes and then in other episodes she goes nuclear#all while maintaining exteme levels of competency#she fought GREVIOUS. TWICE. im not even gonna address maul but the amount of force strength she displayed in that fight#she met bo katan when she was like 13#MORTIS......MORTIS HAPPENED.....#and then shes forced to question everything shes ever been taught and not pointing fingers here#but SHE remained true to herself shes the ultimate parallel to both anakin and maul#like i cant stress how much her leaving the order made anakin's ep 3 mindset make sense like it added to ep 3 SO much#anyway. certain actresses can choke but shes everything like shes everything

I think it would have been funny if Vaderkin escaped Mortis with all his memories of the future, showed up at Palpatine’s office with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka trying to get after him to restrain him, and Anakin just goes fucking nuclear with a swish of his hand (in true Vader Destruction Mode okay Ani never would have done something that intense but Vader would wreck anything to get his job done) and the senate had to be evacuated when Vaderkin collapses half the chancellor’s office on him only for Palpatine to still be alive and show his colours as the Sith Lord by fighting back and now the Jedi are like ‘um… we were gonna stop Ani at any means possible… but… he might legit got this…’ and then when it’s all over Ani is coming back into himself as Vader’s mission ends and his sunshine happy self comes back and he just breaks down crying and Obi-Wan thinks he’s crying cause he fought a Sith but when he comes over to hug him (they got Padme on a shuttle comin to take over with Ani-sitting lmao they in over they heads) Anakin just cries into his shoulders and says he can’t be a Jedi because he loves Padme and their children and Obi-Wan and Ahsoka so much he would burn worlds for them and he hates Palpatine even past his death because he’s the reason Vader hurt his babies and never got to see them grow up and he just cries for so long (boy deserves that cry) while Obi-Wan holds him and finally it’s too much and Obi just blurts out that he would leave the order if Ani asked him to. He’d canonically contemplated leaving when Ani was 12 if Ani had chose to so he blurts it all out that Ani’s happiness and wellbeing is more important to him than being a Jedi and Ahsoka (who’s been sitting off to the side a while unsure what to do but holding onto Ani’s robes) says she wanted to stay with him wherever he went to.
Tbh Mace is just happy they’re all discussing this on their own cause the council IS going to have to ask Ani to either leave or admit himself as a long term mental health patient so he’s thankful he doesn’t have to bring it up and Padme gets there and Ani is her lappup for the time being while Ani and Obi discuss that they can make baby steps out first by them staying in-temple while Ani goes to mind healers and Obi too tbh he’s got a lot going and after Mortis their girl Soka is On The Edge and she needs it too now and so Mace is just glad to get them tucked away in the temple where they belong while seeing mind healers (protective af over just about everyone in the order is how Mace should be) and Cody and Rex bully their way into the temple with them to take care of their Jettis but there are still battles to fight and Dooku and Grevious to capture so things are tough but calming down.
Ani cries a bunch because he’s got all of Vaders memories and sometimes he just collapses into Obi’s arms because he can’t handle what he did in the Jedi temple or all the planets he hurt and he’s terrified to have children cause Luke and Leia were such perfect little creatures but Ani can’t hurt them again and Ani just deserves to cry like constantly and whenever he wants to because he’s tired and hurt and he needs therapy.
Obi-Wan is mostly in shock and not functioning very well but Cody’s taking care of him while coordinating the troops from the temple and the chips are found and removed and everything slowly gets better.
But mostly just let Ani let loose Vader levels of absolute power and total destruction upon his enemies and create maelstroms of terror and destruction before collapsing and crying about it for like six hours.
Also Soka is really fucked up from what they went through and needs some therapy. Also Obi is about to get captured by a mind healer because he’s pretending NONE of that just happened and his coping mechanisms are basically non-existent or alcohol now days. Get them some fucking help. Also let them explain to the council what happened on Mortis and how Ani got another life trapped in his head and watch the council end up flipping their lids over that one.

Prompt 145. Any character(s) you like.
Together to the End.
145: “I have my orders”
Characters: Rex, Cody, Obi-Wan and Ahsoka.
A/N: AU of a joint mission with the 501st and 212th with Rex trying help Obi-Wan and Ahsoka escape. Seeing as you consented to this, grab your nearest tissue. For others, you have been warned. I hope you enjoy.
:D
“Stand aside, Rex,” said Cody, as he raised his pistol toward them. “The Jedi are traitors to the Republic. They must be executed.”
They have been to countless worlds and fought just as many battles with plenty losses, but nothing prepared them for this. This was supposed to be routine, grab Grevious and Maul, head back to Coruscant and see to the end of this war. They would be free, live, be with their friends and family. That’s what always talked about when the Jedi were not there. Not this. Never this.
After General Kenobi killed Grevious and Ahsoka managed to capture Maul, they met up at the halfway to Coruscant. The 212th boarded the Resolute to interrogate Maul of the mysterious Sith Lord. While they were down interrogating, the two head leaders received the Order from who was supposed to be the Chancellor. Then, Rex had gaps in his memory as he went point a blaster at Tano and Kenobi before being Force Push back. He only woke up in time stun his brother while the Jedi and astromech droids guarding him. Fives was right, there was a plot against them.
They decided to escape as to not be forced to kill the Clones, but knew how is brothers were dedicated to a mission, they won’t stop until they are dead.
As they stood in the hanger bay trying to seize a ship, but they were met with a roadblock. Cody and a legion of Clones standing there.
“Why?” Rex asked, pointing his blaster back Cody.
“Pardon?”
“Why are they traitors? We fought beside through thick and thin, Cody. They saved us here and there, and we did the same for them. Why are they suddenly traitors?”
Cody was silent, though Rex knew him better as he could feel the gears in his head turning. For a second he thought the commander understood, but he straightens.
“They are traitors to the Republic, Rex. That’s all it is.” Cody stated automatically, like he was a droid.
“Cody,...” Obi-Wan said, as he walk up to Rex, “we aren’t traitors. The Republic is gone. Maul was right, it was already lost before we knew it.”
“No!” The Commander shouted, turning to the Jedi. “Sidious said we were doing this to protect the Republic from the Jedi.”
“Sidious is the Sith we are looking for. You can’t believe him over us, Cody!” The Togurta argued.
“I have my orders. You are traitors of the Republic and shall be executed.”
“We’re not droids, Cody! We are Clones! We can think and feel unlike those souless clankars!”
The hanger became tense with silence, as they stood there awaiting for the droids to open the hanger bay. Rex didn’t want to deceive his brothers like this, but he wasn’t going to allow injustice to take place. Without hesitation, Rex knocked the blaster out of Cody’s hand and grabbed him in a headlock. Cody was the better hand-to-hand fighter, but couldn’t allow him be killed. He struggled hard to hold him steady as the Jedi secured a ship. He ignored the blaster fire around him, as Cody flailed, knocking him into beams or elbowing him in the gut, but Rex stood firm.
Slowly he felt Cody go limp in his grip, but he heard his soft breathing. He saw Ahsoka in a gunship and moved as fast as he could with Cody on back, blaster fire grazing his armour as he jumped in. He fell on to the hard floor as Cody fell out his grasp.
“Go, Ahsoka!” Obi-Wan called up, as he stood next to him. “How is he?”
“He’s alive,” he answered, as he moved Cody in a sitting position. He gazed at him with concern. “What about the chip? Will he still..?”
“We shall help him, Rex, we shall help. However longer it takes.”

Which Hogwarts house do you think Anidala belong to?
This was a hard one... I’m not the biggest HP fan (don’t shoot me!) and I don’t have the greatest knowledge on the Houses. However, to answer your question, I’ve done some research!
I fully believe that Padme is a Hufflepuff as, and this is the information on the Houses I found, “they are hard-working, determined, tenacious, loyal, honest, genuine, well-rounded, fair and just, open-minded, giving, good-hearted, accepting, compassionate, passionate, practical, patient, dependable.”
Definitely sounds like a former Queen and Senator who was willing to give her life in service to her planet, right? A woman who fought for justice and freedom in the galaxy and gave up her childhood to take on the role of Queen.
“They are not (necessarily), unemotional, though they tendency to not flaunt their emotions.”
This reflects Padme’s love and marriage with Anakin. She fell deeply in love but was willing to keep that to herself to preserve his future in the Jedi and her own Senatorial career. When they were married, she was able to hide her feelings and live a deeply private life with him. Even when they were alone, it was Anakin, rather than Padme who makes grand gestures of love.
“Remember, a Hufflepuff’s loyalty is not free, it is selective and based on fairness but will likely be prominent throughout the application.”
I think throughout the movies and The Clone Wars, we see plenty that Padme trusts until she is given a reason not to rather than the other way around. And even then, sometimes, her heart makes her want to see people reformed and believes in the good inside them. Her relationships with men like Palpatine, Clovis and even Anakin are prime examples of this.
So yes, I think it’s very clear that Padme is definitely a Hufflepuff!
As for Anakin... Well, he’s a bit more complicated. I believe throughout movies and The Clone Wars, Anakin would perceive himself to be a Gryffindor and this makes sense with a lot of his personality traits. We can see this as “they are experience-orientated, honest, practical, blunt, passionate, playful, prone to living in the moment, not taking themselves seriously, trusting, stubborn and loathe to back down, prone to procrastination and wary of manipulators and liars.”
This sounds a lot like the boisterous Jedi we saw riding banthas to impress Padme, speeding through sky-traffic, laughing joyfully while Obi-wan cringes, who found fun in star-ship battles and called General Grevious short just to have the final word, doesn’t it?
“They are not (necessarily), irresponsible - Gryffindors display a strong tendency to ‘own’ their mistakes.”
From the outside looking in, we can see that this doesn’t quite fit Anakin. Though he does admit his mistakes, often, we see him blame them on others.
That’s not quite taking ownership, is it? And later, his mistakes become blamed on the Council and their lack of trust in him.
“Remember, Gryffindors tend to have a strong moral centre and are unafraid to act on their morals or to seize opportunities to make changes.”
Once more, this is absolutely like Anakin. Remember when he believed Obi-wan had been killed? He hunted down the man he perceived to be responsible in order to inflict his own sense of justice. When the sand people killed his mother, Anakin sought revenge and slaughtered the entire village in retaliation.
He also believes the entire political system of the Republic is broken and should be rewritten and thus, in Revenge of the Sith, he says the following:
However, I think Anakin himself would eventually realise what I believe to be true and that he is (and was always) a Slytherin. This is because, “ambitious, driven, focused on goals, determined, prepared, subtle, perfectionistic, adaptable, realistic, self-reliant, charming, bold and assertive, ruthless and able to separate their idea of themselves from what they do, able to use their intelligence as a tool to achieve their goals.”
Now, doesn’t this sound familiar? Anakin is absolutely ambitious and driven in his goal to achieve Mastery (in order to be given access to the archives’ information and potentially save Padme’s life.) More than this, Anakin has an obsession with gaining power for his own benefit.
As for separating himself from the things he does, well, we need only look at the march on the Jedi temple for evidence of this. We saw (what I believe) is the true birth of Darth Vader when Anakin murders the Jedi younglings and yet, after the death of children at his hands, he believes it is the Jedi who are evil.
Furthermore, “they are not necessarily, disloyal (however, their loyalty is highly selective) or disregarding of the opinions of others. In fact, Slytherins love positive attention and thrive on praise.”
Anakin’s loyalty was in the end his downfall. He simply chose the wrong person to be loyal to... Throughout the movies and The Clone Wars, Anakin is loyal to five people only, his mother, Padme, Palpatine, Obi-wan and Ahsoka. He would die for these people. And when he believes Obi-wan is a part of ‘the Jedi plot’, Anakin forces himself to see his former Master as the enemy. Thus, with the departure of Ahsoka from the Jedi Order and the death of his mother, he is fiercely loyal to two people only. Palpatine and Padme.
We also see in the novels how he secretly enjoys the Holo-net’s praise when they call him “The Hero with No Fear” and how he smiles and laughs when called a poster boy.
So, yes, I think that’s it! Sorry for rambling and taking such a deep dive into the characters, but I wanted to back up my points. I hope this is somewhat legible.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a Cartoon That was Ahead of it’s Time
So with cartoons getting more mature by introducing stories and talking about mature themes to kids but there’s one cartoon that was ahead of its time, even before Adventure Time and Gravity Falls started the trend and it was Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It has one of the best stories I’ve watched in a long time and since it’s May the 4th, I think it’s to express why The Clone Wars managed to succeed in telling it story and how they got ahead than most cartoons.
So before I begin talking about how great the show is, I wanna first mention that the show is based on the Star Wars prequels and they were pretty bad. So instead of ignoring them, they cleaned it and they polish to make it better. Something I never believe that they will actually do and worked
Most of the characters from the prequels got revamp and all of them are so likeable, even the characters I found annoying became so damn lovable.
Pademe was useless in episode 1 - 3, always the lady in distress but in Clone Wars, they made her into a complete badass. Getting things done, being sassy, and make jokes just like her daughter, Leia
Anakin Skywalker, the most annoying character from the prequel trilogy was written so well in the show. He really wants to protect his friends from and he does to extreme lengths like him force choking an Genosion for info and he doesn’t have a problem in killing to do so as well.
It makes him in conflict with the Jedi Order for forcing things he doesn’t want to.
It's a real shame that the character you’re rooting is the same person that he’s going to lose everything by the end.
Darth Maul is a complete badass and one of the highlights of the show. When he came back, he first started getting some payback to Obi-Wan for cutting him in half. He started taunting about him killing his master, Qui-Gon and he’s really resisting the temptation to the dark side since he knows what it can do.
Although he failed the first few times, it doesn’t stop him. The next thing he does is gather a freaking army from the underworld to overthrow Mandalore. Then he start messing with Obi-Wan by killing his ex-girlfriend. Now that’s a villain
Now let’s talk about the new welcome additions to Star Wars
I can’t lie, at first I didn't like Ahsoka Tano, I found her really annoying but she got better as the show progressed. She’s fully capable of handling things on her own like the Padawan hunt arc and the Siege of Mandalore.
Then there’s Clones and I have to say for a bunch of troops that look the same, they have so much depth to them that’s believable. Never feeling like they're just expendables, being easily replaced and emotionless but writers decided to make them actual people, even calling each other brother.
You follow Domino Squad as they started off as clone cadets
Then making their way into arc troopers.
Ninety-Nine, although disfigured and not capable of joining the army, he still fought his hardest to fight for the Republic and his brothers and died as a clone soldier
And there’s Rex. He treats Jedi, mostly Anakin and Ahsoka as their best friends and his clones as his family. It's so heartbreaking that he wants to kill his brothers as an act of mercy so they won’t be treated as droids from Seperatist for the Empire in the series finale.
For a CGI show, this has one of the animations I’ve ever seen. At the first season it was pretty bad
But then it gradually better for each season
Then season 7, the last four episode came out, I thought I was watching it in live action.
The fight scenes, especially the lightsaber combat, is so well crafted.
So most kids cartoon don’t show characters but with this,
A lot
Of
Characters
Dies and it’s not even offscreen.
The major characters die like dang, the show is pretty dark.
Unlike most kids shows right now that are doing slice-of-life, story or both, The Clone Wars is an anthology series which means that each episode has their own story containing at least one or five episodes.
The most memorable arcs of the show are…
Umbara Arc
Boba Fett Revenge arc
Obi-Wan Disguise Arc
And of course, Darth Maul Arc
SW:TCW is such an easy show that doesn’t require you to watch everything and just watch the best part. The story is even consistent!!!
The ending was hauntingly sasifying. The last scene was completely silent with Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker finding the Ahsoka crash ship. Picking up her lightsaber that he made for her and it indicates that he truly has lost everything.
Although it ended, the plot points are continued in Rebels such as
Darth Maul finding Obi-Wan
Ahsoka confronting Anakin
Hell, even plot points are continued or mentioned in movies and video games like
Saw Gerrera was in Jedi Fallen Order and Rogue One
Merran talked about an armored warrior, General Grevious slaughtering her sisters.
So in conclusion, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is one of the best cartoon shows I’ve seen. It has a great cast of characters, great stories, the fight scenes are fantastic, remarkable animations and the ending is satisfying. One of the best cartoon shows I’ve ever watched from the past decade.

Alijah and Barriss Feels
To quote @mexicanpickletaco, “ Shit that’s fucking good like a right cross right to the heart.”
I’ve greatly expanded what I told him and some what summarized it. Be warned there is angst and lots of feels but also some bright spots too. It’s also under a cut because it so got out of hand.
First Sister goes to Kaller but it is Barriss Offee who dies there.
Frey Bastra goes to Kaller but Alijah Kastor leaves there.
In the past, back when there was a War and a Jedi Order, Barriss and Alijah knew each other. They took their Force Healing classes together (among many others), shared rotations in the Halls of Healing (and so many stories), meals and training too. When the time came they even went to war side by side as Padawans. Both were intelligent and daring and kind-hearted. Barriss was more together than Alijah in terms of remembering assignments and presenting the front of being an ideal Jedi. But, blow for blow they were close and it made them almost inseparable. Both were even Mirialan, if only a quarter in Alijah’s case, and they explored where their people came from together.
Barriss' Betrayl of Ahsoka (their now mutual friend) came out of nowhere. They had both discussed in private their growing disillusions with the Order and the Republic. Alijah had mentioned she was going to leave when The Clone Wars were finished. She held back saying part of her motivation included her growing feelings for a certain Commander. But, she was not shy in telling her best friend (and sometimes lover if they were honest about the lines they skirted) that things still felt Wrong.
The Force was growing dimmer in terms of Light as the Dark rose. Everything about the War seemed to be nowhere near and end of even a middle. Darkness coated everything now. Even among the Order, Alijah felt uncertain about her place in it all. But, Barriss reassured her of where they belonged. Hell, she even said she would stay within the Order to help reform things. Alijah commended her on such noble goals.
"You're stronger than I am. After everything, I just want a break from all of this. It's too much for me to handle. When’s it’s done it’ll be done for me. They Order will be lucky to have you though."
The Actual Bombing and the Trail happened when Alijah was away. Her and her Master were had been sent to Haruun Kal, the birth place of her Grandmaster, to take on General Grevious. Their importance there even kept them from being recalled to investigate the bombing. Instead, they stood around to fight what ultimately became a bitter defeat. Her Master almost died because from wounds inflicted by General Grevious and feel deep into a coma. 90% of their Battalion ultimately died for a planet they could not hold. Hell, she took a serious wound from Grevious trying to save her Master. Two scars marred her stomach from there on out; long, burned lines that overlapped because he tried to bisect her. Yet, she did shine on her own for a brief time. Two of his arms were lost to her saberstaff and he did not get to take her Master’s saber a trophy. A few of the survivors even called her, “The Hellcat of Haruun Kal.” because give them hell she did.
When she woke up from her stay in the Bacta Tank Alijah found out everything that happened. Ahsoka was framed for blowing up the Temple and thrown out of the Order. The Senate was prepared to execute her for the crimes before the true perpetrator was caught: Barriss Offee. Even with her name cleared, Ahsoka still left without a goodbye.
Neither of the knew it but the remaining days of the War would lead up to who they would be. Barriss should have swiftly been executed, as they had planned for Ahsoka, but it continued to be stayed. It left her the free time to stew in her Darkness and grow closer to the Dark Side. Alijah dove headfirst into everything waiting on her Master to wake up. Beyond work, it became Jedi Hooch and smuggled stims to push her body past it’s limits time and again. With a fake smile in place she fought demons of her Past, was knighted by her Grandmaster, and then was sent to Kamino as an Instructor for their Troops.
When the War ended things went vastly different ways for them. Barriss was asked to join the rising Inquisitorious and granted the new name: First Sister. With the death of her former Master, Luminara Unduli, at her own hand and her Kyber Crystals bleeding she was released from her inner prisons. Finally, she could help bring order to the Galaxy. In contrast, Alijah fell into her own prison. She was smuggled off Kamino (after faking her death with help) by a Mandalorian Ace at the behest of Jai Vetra. From there she was bounced to Harti Wren to be taken to Keldabe. After burning her tattoos off, she dismantled her saberstaff and closed herself off from the Force entirely. It had gone Silent.
In the coming years they dove head first into their new personas. First Sister flourished among the Inquisitorious. Left and right she hunted down former Jedi. Each death. Frey Bastra learned to pilot, became a skilled dancer, and used her fighting prowess (among other skills) for Daesha. Takodana was safer than many places from the Empire. Daesha also was fighting the good fight to help others. First Sister dove deeper in the Dark Side to feel a nagging, howling void within her. Freya Bastra feel into heavy drinking, experimenting with all the different drugs a spaceport (and shadowport) had to offer, and feeling the silence with noise from a roulette wheel of different partners. First Sister fought beside the Grand Inquisitor, a former Jedi who saw the Truth. Freya maintained a few of Alijah’s friendships (Jai Vetra, Harti Wren-who never knew her Old Name-, and the Ace) but worked to become a new person: a non-Force Sensitive sometimes smuggler and spy, stripper, and full time Agent of Chaos.
Things shifted when Ahsoka Tano blew onto Takodana and collided with Alijah. For the first time in forever she almost felt hope. There was this realization that she was nowhere nearly as alone as she felt. Seeing a truly friendly face from her past helped gave her the push to begin recovering. There was still no lightsaber in her hands nor a connection to the Force reforged again. But, there was something. Just a touch more sleep that was better, more restful even, and something that glimmered on the far edges of her mind.
First Sister found no such feeling.
Everything came to a head when the Inquisitors started popping up in more places. Ahsoka and whatever it was she did were more accustomed to fighting them. But, Alijah took note when they arrived in her places. More so, they were causing a lot of problems. Force Sensitives were dying (past Jedi or not), children were disappearing, and they were sowing more chaos and terror among everyone. No matter how depressed and angry and anxious “Freya” was she still had Alijah’s Heart. When Ahsoka asked for help she freely gave it.
In the start, Alijah was more than okay with helping Ahsoka. They got along like a house fire, trusted one another, and with or without the Force, Alijah was fantastic in a fight. Things went south when Alijah realized the Inquisitors, Order 66, and so much more were interconnected. Part of her wanted to backpedal and almost did when she realized Barriss was involved. Facing Clones was hard, facing this giant conspiracy was hard, but Barriss was almost the breaking point. When on her own she pursued Barriss to Kaller she almost broke.
Freya and the First Sister fighting was drawn out and brutal. It bounced around all fields when different offers were made. First Sister made the offer for Freya to join them. Brought up how much Dark lurked just beneath the surface and how nice giving in would feel. The relief of no longer carrying that pain would be euphoric. When that failed, she instead pointed out every Fault within Alijah to force her hand. She ground in how they were fighting where Alijah’s lineage died at the hands of her troops. Spit out how she failed to be there for her Master and her Replacement; even dug in how a fourteen year old accomplished more for her Master than Alijah ever did.
Alijah retaliated at first. She dug into everyone one of Barriss faults and failures and insecurities. There was something sweet in letting all of the venom pour out of her. She spite out how Barriss failed the Order she was supposed to uphold. Brought up how she slaughtered the Master she loved to Fall for absolutely nothing. The people she killed and friends she betrayed in a false rise to nothing. Because Force or not, Alijah knows Barriss and she’s Zeltron enough to feel the pained blows against her former friend.
For just a moment Alijah feels herself want to give in. Facing her past hurt so fucking much that any relief could be worth it. But, that would be the easy way out. Dark was easy because it lacked the self-accountability of one’s own actions. Pain hurt but it made her Sentient. So, she tightened the grip on the borrowed lightsaber hanging from her belt. It served to remind her that the locals only found one among the bodies. Only one. The Kyber Crystal sang like her Master’s. However slim the chance of her lineage brother surviving, Alijah had to hold onto the light for him.
“Master, please guide me,” echoed around Alijah’s mind when the green saber lit up. “One final time for this lesson.”
The Fight ends quick when Alijah fights as herself. She even tells Barriss, “With everything you’ve done, I still love you.” Hate was easy and would get her no where. Love would be her answer. Through rusty lightsaber skills and forms that still felt second nature she won. For a moment, Alijah could have sworn her Master was fighting beside her because she could feel her echoing all around.
When she strikes the Fatal Blow it is against Barriss Offee, not First Sister. As her friend collapses downward Alijah bolts to her side. Shaking handles cradle her body close while she looks into blue eyes. Not the bloodshot, yellow of a deranged Sith but Barriss’ wonderful blue. Tear well up in her own eyes.
“You can start over,” she promises, “I’m not the best teacher but I can help. I love you. Please don’t leave me. I can try to heal you. Just please, don’t leave. Not like this.”
Talking was took effort but Barriss was determined. “This is the Will of the Force.” Her hand reaches up to touch Alijah’s. “This is how it’s supposed to be.” In spite of the pain and the draining life force, Barriss looks at peace. “You always were a star. Sometimes shooting and other times fixed...but always as a guide home.”
For several tense moments Barriss’ eyes shut. Her breathing grows more shallow while Alijah’s thumb strokes over her tattoos. It makes her smile. “The Rising Jedi will be lucky to have you.”
After Barriss dies Alijah spends a long time sitting in the dirt and holding a steadily cooling body. She sobs loud and broken and alone. Her pain for the Masters she lost spills out. The people she failed the protect, the loves she lost, and the friend she was forced to slay compound the pain. Seeing the laser scorches on the rocks makes it seem even more real. So, so much was lost in this clearing on Kaller. But, so much was found. There is still Hope out there. A new tomorrow will come and it is worth fighting for. The Force she misses is still waiting for her to return. It is Dark but there will come a light.
Gently laying Barriss’ body down Alijah gets to work gathering as much tinder as she can find. Everything is neatly arranged in the clearing as a pyre. Next, she removes most of the armor and trappings of the First Sister from Barriss’ body. She even takes off her scarf to fold it around her dear friend’s head in the familiar Mirialan Way. Moving a body as rigor mortis is setting in is hard but she manages all the same. Body arranged, she starts lights the Funeral Pyre. Barriss may have Fallen for some time but in the end she died on the Light and deserves a Jedi’s funeral.
While waiting on the pyre to burn down; and she would wait until it was fully out. Because she did not deserve to die alone. Alijah begins to meditate with her Master’s Lightsaber. Still Meditation had never been her strong suit in the best of times. It should be impossible now but she has to try. Fingers tracing the familiar hilt helped her fall into the right trance. The Force seems oppressively silent at first but the more she reaches out the more she feels the light stirring again. Little pinpricks of Light and Hope to guide her through the Darkness.
When the embers finally die out Alijah comms Ahsoka to be picked up. She gives her a brief run down of what happened but adds something unexpected at the end; a request. “Will you help guide me? I think I am finally ready to face the full brunt of the Force again. I’ve also realized that it is not a journey I have to make alone because I have people with me.”

PART 15 of Luke and Vader travel through time and save the galaxy.
--Rex found Chatterbox trying to keep Hardcase from bleeding out, tourniquet tied around his leg. Fives, no one dared move any further due to a spinal injury until a medic could be called to the scene. The body of the Chancellor was nothing but a black smear on the ground. And Luke . . . Rex found Luke curled over the shattered body of his father.
He holstered his weapon and took off his helmet. He approached Luke slowly, hands clenching and un-clenching. What could he say? When he lost batch brothers or close squad mates, on the battlefield they had been trained to leave the dead, to keep going no matter what. Grief came only in the darkness of the barrack bunk, or some quiet corner of the landing bay, brothers remembering those lost. Clones were bred to be soldiers in service to the Jedi, but now when Rex had more freedom and more opportunity than ever before in his life he felt truly powerless.
Luke’s head rose and his hands came up to his Father’s cracked mask. Carefully, he lifted first the helm and then peeled back the face plate. Rex swallowed hard at the sight of the man underneath. Behind him Jesse hissed under his breath in sympathy at the sight of the burned flesh. There had been talk when Vader had shown up on Umbara, whether he was a droid or if he was like Grevious, some sort of half man half machine, inhuman and monstrous. But there was a person under the armor, a man, covered in scars. Wordlessly, Luke balled up his gloved hand and began to smash first the mask and then the helmet to pieces. Rex stepped forward, reaching out to stop Luke before he hurt himself only to realize that his hand, his hand was a prosthetic. Rex wondered how he had lost it.
When the mask was dust, Luke reached for his father’s chest plate armor and untangled the respirator apparatus and smashed that as well. Finally, he took his Father’s armorweave cloak and slowly, carefully drew it up to serve as a shroud.
“Captain Rex,” the Jedi said quietly.
“Sir,” he responded coming to attention.
“The war is over. We have peace.” There was a long pause. Luke had said those words so many times, willing them to be true. Now at last they were. “I-I am not sure what I am supposed to do now,” he admitted, voice cracking with despair. His hands shook over his father’s body. “We–we didn’t really talk about what we would do after the Emperor was dead.” Luke swallowed hard. “I think . . . he didn’t expect to live. I didn’t expect to live,” he added with a self deprecating laugh. “Some half-trained Jedi defeating him, when he killed thousands of the very best.” He ran an exhausted hand over his face, wincing when he touched on the burns raw and red on the edge of his jaw.
“Sir, you need a medic,” Rex offered anxiously. He wanted to stop this talk, stop it now. Luke and Vader had always stood so calm, so firm, so competent like nothing could shake them. To know that they were simply hurdling towards this confrontation with that skrag Palpatine and never expected to come out the other side. . . “You are injured. Let us–“
“This isn’t my place,” he murmured. “No future for him, for us. I don’t want to hurt them, they’ve been hurt enough–“
Rex stepped forward and took hold of Luke’s shoulders, drawing him back from his father’s body. Jesse and Redeye moved quickly to gently lift Vader’s body onto a stretcher. “Sir,” Rex urged. “We need to get you to a medic.”
“No–“
“Sir, if Vader were here he would kill me for leaving you injured. I’m not sure that he won’t find a way to kill me even now if I don’t take care of you. Please, sir,” Rex said desperately.
Luke’s eyes never left the body. He finally nodded. He staggered to his feet, leaning heavily on the Captain’s shoulder and together they walked toward the waiting gunships.
-Even knowing that Luke had left to face the Sith Master, nothing prepares Anakin for the moment where the holoscreen had come to life and the Supreme Chancellor started screaming for the clones to kill the Jedi and drew a blood red lightsaber. Now curled up on the floor, Obi-Wan’s arms around him, he still isn’t prepared for the screams, the crash of sabers, and Palpatine screaming about power. He catches the light from the holoscreen splashing across the walls and floor and over the bodies of the fallen.
“--worst is over, Anakin, I’m here and–“
Something blocks his view, and Padme is being helped by Echo to sit beside him. Desperate, he reaches out a hand to her, to the twins, she is here, she is breathing, the horrible nightmares that have plagued him for days have not come true. She is crying as she leans over him, hands holding onto him for dear life. He wants to tell her not to, not to hold onto him because he cannot be her bedrock, her certainty, her champion.
“--wouldn’t have gone to the Council, dear one, you must believe me that–“
The universe has cracked in two and Anakin cannot stop shaking, cannot stop the terrified sobs from spilling out. He cannot save them. He cannot protect them. He is not good enough, fast enough, smart enough, strong enough, powerful enough. Nothing is safe. Nowhere is safe. He hasn’t cried so hard since that day when his mother was dragged away by Gardulla to serve as a bet on a pod race.
“–please, nothing is more important, I know that–“
There is a tremendous crash and one of the few remaining windows blows out. Denal swears and then shouts that it is the Resolute that just crash landed. Anakin squeezes his eyes tight shut. Ahsoka! Ahsoka is on the Resolute! And here he is on the floor unable to move. My Padawan, the Temple, my men–
“--I am sorry, I am so, so sorry,” Obi-Wan, that’s Obi-Wan still talking, he hasn’t stopped talking. “It’s going to be all right, I swear it. We will make it all–“
And all sound vanishes and Anakin knows what to do without thinking, he sits up and grabs Obi-Wan, Padme, and the babies close in his arms and reaches for the Force just as a wave of Darkness comes roaring through the room. It is like being buffered by a sandstorm of hate and rage, writhing evil, searching, murderous, still desperately hungry for him, for Padme, for the twins.
No, Anakin thinks and feeling his loved ones beside him, his men around him, he somehow finds the strength to stand his ground in the Force. NO.
The storm subsides and he looks around and they are all still here, they are all still breathing, the twins now wailing and crying, the holoscreen blessedly silent and off at long last. Anakin draws one shaky breath after another and then reaches to help Padme sooth the children. Leia’s face is all scrunched up and red as she howls her displeasure and Anakin wraps his Force presence around her checking, checking, and she is all right. Luke, what about Luke? Padme is rocking him even as tears drip down her cheeks. Obi-Wan reaches out and runs a careful hand over his son’s head and sighs in relief. They are all right, they are all right and Palpatine is dead.
The Force shudders around them, reverberating with aftershocks. Anakin blinks trying to clear his vision. He needs to get up, get to the crash site to check on Ahsoka (he can feel her, she lives), go to the Temple and assess the damage, the Senate, he has to get to the Senate where Luke and the others have fought Palpatine. He can’t tell if they lived or not, the holoscreen feed knocked out by the Dark Force storm, but if he could just get up–
“Sir, evac will be here in 10, what do we need to take?” Echo asks softly, crouching down to his General’s level. Anakin cannot find the words to answer.
“Evac? Evac where?” Obi-Wan says.
“Off planet, sir. We have orders to remove you from Coruscant as soon as we had a window of opportunity. The Dauntless just came out of hyperspace and we need to move. Senator, what do we need to bring?”
Padme looks bewildered. “I-I don’t have any, I haven’t– I was going to go to Naboo to have the babies and, and –“
Echo nods, “We’ll take care of it, ma’am. Kix,” he said, calling the medic over. General Skywalker was deathly pale and sweating. Echo is sure it was shock and the Senator isn’t much better being only a few hours post labor. General Kenobi looks like he is punch drunk after staying awake for too long on too many stims.
“The Council,” Obi-Wan says abruptly, trying to engage rational thought. “We need to report to the Co. . .” Obi-Wan trails off as Anakin literally and violently flinchs away from Obi-Wan at his words, leaning bodily over both babies being held between him and Padme as if protecting them from danger. “No, no you’re right,” he backtracks quickly, placing a hand on Anakin’s shoulder. “Medical facilities on planet will be stretched thin; the Dauntless will be perfect, thank you.”
-Appo found Cody trapped under a fallen pylon on what was left of the bridge and Ahsoka collapsed nearby, both barely breathing due to smoke inhalation. There is the question of which medical facility to take them to. Finally, the decision is made and they are taken to the Temple and treated in the mostly intact healers wing along with many other brothers (there was a fight, he later heard, the Jedi didn’t want to let them bring the wounded into the Temple but Dogma, Dogma of all people, forced them to open the Temple to treat the clones). There were wounded among the Jedi Order but no fatalities. The same could not be said for the troopers. Members of the Coruscant Guard killed by sabers lay side by side in what probably was the Jedi equivalent of a mess hall. Even more members of the 501st and 212th lay there as well, killed by fellow clones, refusing to use lethal force on those still chipped even to save their own lives. The scars of Krell ran deep. Appo felt a sick sort of pride in knowing that none of the Coruscant Guard had been killed by the combined clone forces defending the Temple. Injured yes, dead no. He also found for the first time that he was deeply uncomfortable around the Masters and other Jedi who lead the Temple defenses. He couldn’t help resting his eyes on the sabers at their belts and thinking how many of his brothers they had cut down rather than subdue through some other method. Appo realized how grateful he was that with the sole exception of Krell, the 501st had worked with only the best Jedi commanders and generals.
-When Ahsoka wakes she pushes at the oxygen mask over her mouth and nose with clumsy fingers. The medical tubes and elastic ties on the mask are cutting into her lekku. She fumbles around until she pulls off the mask and immediately regrets trying to breath without it. Things start beeping around her and then someone grabs the mask and presses it back against her nose and mouth. She looks up and sees Cody sitting (floating, he’s on a hover chair) by her side.
“Put the mask back on, sir,” Cody croaks, “Or the medics are going to come down on you hard.”
Ahsoka uses one unbandaged (bandages? really?) hand to hold onto the mask and takes a few deep breaths. “I think you can call me Ahsoka,” she says. She looks around recognizing the Temple’s architecture. She peers at Cody whose leg is propped up and covered in bandages rather than bacta which has Ahsoka worried about a bacta shortage on Coruscant of all places. She peers around the rest of the ward and sees troopers and Jedi in the beds, healers and clone medics and med droids buzzing around. “Master Anakin, Obi-Wan, the men–“
“Echo reported in that General Skywalker and Kenobi are alive and are with Senator Amidala. Troop casualty numbers were higher than we hoped for,” Cody says softly. “The Jedi at the Temple suffered some injuries but no deaths. There were some deaths out in the field before the chipped clones could be stopped. Many of the injured have been taken to the ships in orbit for treatment, the hospitals and med centers are overflowing. There were some civilian casualties, but not as many as there could have been. Everyone else survived except Vader. His injuries were too severe. He died shortly after the Sith Master.”
Ahsoka closes her eyes and just breaths. She isn’t sure why but the thought of Vader’s death fills her with a strange sense of sadness, of loss. No, she wasn’t sad for Vader, she was sad for Luke! She tells herself firmly. Luke has lost a father whom he loved when no one in their right mind should or frankly could love a Sith. She shouldn’t feel upset about Vader’s death. He was darkness and pain and barely controlled violence. But as much as he avoided her during their brief time together (except to criticize her beliefs and the way she held her sabers!), she saw that he could be quirky, just as obsessed with machines as her Master, and that he cared deeply about things other than himself and power, even if he showed it in all the wrong ways.
Sith killing Sith, that is a good thing, right? It is a good thing Palpatine is dead. It is a good thing that Vader wasn’t around anymore to try and take power or do Sith things. It is a good thing.
So why does she feel like crying?
