“Who do you think I am?!” Merry’s expression was set in a glare, an injured wing drooping, and yet the small god refuses to lower his guard. “I am a son of a house of gods! I refuse to surrender! I won’t--”

“That’s enough~”

The fighting came to an immediate halt at the sound of that voice, and suddenly both combatants’ weapons were out of their hands.

“Teach-- “Father--!”

“I think it’s about time for you both to stand down. It’s a clear stalemate, and if I let this keep going, the battle may never end! Besides, the winner’s already been decided.”

Felix clearly wasn’t happy, but sighed and lowered his hand. “Fine, fine. If you say so.”

Merry frowned, uninjured wing puffing up. “But--!”

“No buts, Merry. A good fighter knows when to fight as much as he knows when to stop. And you have nothing to prove, to me or anyone.” Cecil smiled, ruffling his son’s hair.

“You were amazing, Quicksilver. All of us were watching you... words can’t express how proud I am of you~”

“...!!” Merry was stunned silent for a moment, before he rushes to hug Cecil. And if there were tears in the boy’s eyes, no one commented.

“Thank you, Father...!”
