Some Genshin fans are so stupid. Your boycott isn’t gonna work because you went f2p on a gacha game that has millions of players and shit tons of whales; they’ve accounted for f2p already, and it boosts their numbers too for shareholders.
Like you are just addicted to the game and gambling. Just uninstall and that would actually (very marginally) hurt their numbers.
This is like the 4th useless boycott so far.
#genshin impact fans trying to boycott by being f2p is so stupid#just uninstall#dedicating entire accounts to genshin characters for free marketing#and then posting your f2p pulls like you did something#while crying about a boycott#‘but my comfort media’ ah so your boycott is performative

@butterfly-mochi Rewrote this freaking thing thrice because it keeps getting deleted wth tumblr agjvahkfajkvk- I enjoyed writing it a lot tho and since I’m too weak to the characters I ended up writing for all of them (except for Sucrose, im sorry bb huhu, I ran out of brain power). This is my first time writing for so many of them in one go so please excuse me for any mistakes or blandness ywy thank you for letting me write for my baby Ganyu too hhhhh
Universe Reversal 2
Genshin Impact Character Reader and Modern Players with Zhongli, Childe & Ganyu (how they simp for you) (event masterlist / Part 1 / Part 3)
Zhongli the F2P
The most relatable out of the bunch because this man is still broke and can only rely on the primogems he can farm. And he had a LOT. The one thing he doesn’t have a lot on, however, is his luck.
So how did he manage to pull you?: Well after exhausting all his primogem on your banner with nothing but weapons and other characters, he has lost his resolve. But by some weird luck, there was a character bug that was fixed and in his email was the almighty consolation primogem. Enough for ONE pull. And by the Gods he FINALLY got you.
He’d nonchalantly post his screenshot of pulling you using a single acquaint fate in his friend group without any words and everyone else just loses their shit. “You got them in one pull?!” “Yeah” A riot.
This was partnered with the fact that not only is Zhongli an F2P player, but also barely has any five star characters.
He looks calm and apathetic over the news, but behind the screen he’s exhausted and relieved, silently livid.
He has no primogems left to squeeze for a constellation so you’re instead pampered with the best weapon suitable for you (because that’s all he keeps getting).
Zhongles spends most of his time farming for materials to quickly level you up, unlocking all your stories and voiceline, but he fucked up on your build (his artifacts are messy).
He follows communities, forums and videos regarding your character to know all the things he needs to perfect your build. You can barely make a dent against normal mobs, so he knew he was doing something VERY wrong.
Is the type of person to keep refreshing the page for new content, very updated.
Ask him a question about your character and he’s gonna bring you the word vomit that is his research. He’s not gonna stop- probably accidentally developed a copypasta for you.
Also follows your VA in both Tiktok and Twitter to indulge in every bit of content. He also has that screenshot of his pull saved and locked.
On his birthday, a friend of his gifted him a chibi plushie of you and he has treasured it ever since, treating and handling it like its a figurine.
“It is merely pure luck and grace from the gacha gods that I got this character, and I will make sure that they know I am very grateful for this fortune.”
Favorite Voiceline: Birthday Message
Childe The Whaler
This lucky wealthy bastard with no remorse for his money whales for EVERY character. He’s making a collection, which is to get all the characters, especially the five stars. So when your banner finally popped up, he’s gonna square up and trigger a whole ass meteor shower.
How he pulled you: Money. His luck with this games are actually not the best so he always compensates with money, he got you halfway through the first failed pity, almost giving him a heart attack that he might actually break the bank just to get you.
And then he pulls more to raise your constellation lol.
The first thing he does is look over your character info and read through it all; constellation infos, your base stats, artifact compatibility.
At the end when he’s maximized everything, he would then focus on playing around with your character *coughs climbing noises coughs*
He thought you’d just be another part of his collection but playing with your character was very enjoyable and in-line with his playstyle- oops 100 screenshots with the Kamera-
Any and all merchandise that he fancies would be his, and he’s definitely flexing it to the other sweetie nerds who call themselves simps. He’s fighting for the simping title, and he’s currently neck and neck with this fanartist in Pixiv.
Speaking of that fanartist, he definitely commissioned an expensive and detailed portrait of you, full rights and everything. No one else was allowed to use it but him.
Was also the first one with the audacity to call out your VA to create an account on Tiktok to create more content with your voice. He was successful.
His obssession also comes in the form of self-indulgent contents, and had been keeping track of the ship wars happening. During conventions, he cosplays as the character shipped with you the most (or the character he thinks should end up with you).
Silently scrutinizing those who cosplay you, only ever taking pictures with/of the best looking one, sorry haha
Definitely flaunts that you are his waifu/husbando and will fight for best girl/best boy during debates or polls. Has mobilized the community to vote for you once. He’s very persuasive.
“Hm? Why I’m just the best collector in the game, and I am more than happy to let everyone know that I am their number one fan haha, everyone who claims otherwise is definitely wrong!”
Favorite Voiceline: More About (Y/N) I-IV, (Y/N)’s Hobbies...
Ganyu the Employed
Ganyu, our dearest overworker, is one of the players in the older stage who actually has a job but still plays Genshin for their past times. The gorgeous sceneries and the music is her main focus in playing the game, not much of a try-hard but still decent in the combat mechanics.
How she pulled you: You came home within 50 pulls! And you appeared again after another 10 pull! Ganyu was so SHOOKT and so distressed because oh goodness, what does she do? She doesn’t know anything much about you!
Will rewatch your three trailers to try and understand your skills better, ended up saving the soundtracks from them because that was such a nice trailer music! Tnbee gains a new follower!
Ganyu will take a while before she can properly play or build you up because she’s so busy with work, she only ever plays when she feels fully done with her work.
During her break she plays with your character while multi-tasking on eating, earphones plugged in and sight on the phone as she farms materials and artifacts for you.
The moment she gets more help from her player friends tho, holy shit, you just ended up being so OP. She had so many good artifacts and weapons for you because she didn’t know what they were for before.
She loves how you’re so easy to use and can easily solo the enemies and even the boss fights. A huge breather, because now Ganyu can cheese the battles that takes a while, to give her more time to focus on the storyline and lores.
Since Ganyu plays for the story and aesthetic, she’ll find you almost always in her team. Still very proud of her pull, she makes the best screenshots of your fights or in the best angle through exploration.
Treasures you so much she starts talking to her phone- “Ah, no, please don’t fall.” “There’s violetgrass up there, let’s try and get it”
Blushes everytime you produce a sound when climbing, doesn’t change you anyways tho
Hums to your trailer music while working, and if permitted, would have the song on repeat while she buries herself in work. She finds it really refreshing and the time she spends in work miraculously flies by fast when she gets lost in the sound.
At one point, when she was given a day-off or if the convention was on her free time, she attends to look for cosplayers of you and take a picture. No one rejects her because she’s so adorable and cute when asking shyly.
Had brought a decent amount of merchandise, preferably the functional/practical ones like a phone cover, mug or keychain. Also has an earphones clamp with your little chibi self as the holder.
When asked, she would shyly announce that she likes your character the most.
“Their character theme and music really soothes me during work, it feels nice to have them, and I have not once regretted ever pulling for them. They are the best.”
Favorite Voicelines: Good Night/Afternoon..., About Us, Something To Share..., Interesting Things...

[OM!] Reverse AU: Demon Brothers (+ Diavolo) Headcanons
- original idea came from this lovely post so please check it out if you haven’t already bc it’s so cute!! I couldn’t stop thinking about the boys collecting our character cards and desperately trying to complete events and chapters just as we are afjasldkfjasfjdts
Scenario: We’re the characters in the game and the demon brothers (or would they be human in this au??) play Obey Me! and collect our cards, play the events, etc...
Reverse AU: Demon boys collect cards of YOU instead of the other way around
Ranked from most invested to least invested in the game + headcanons on how they play (while stanning you ofc)
EDITED: there is also a related follow-up post of Reverse AU [here]
--
Leviathan
VIP VIP VIP
the man would die for every UR+
stans you so hard; cries whenever any new card of you comes out
a collectionist at heart, but he knows there's a fave in his otaku heart of his
every event holds a special place in his kokoro
Idk how he gets sleep grinding for all your URs considering how fast the events come and go without breaks in-between
If he had a terrible sleeping habit before, it’s WORSE now
honestly, this game right up his alley so he's an expert-- he's probably the one to rant about the game and convince his brothers to start playing too
"Add me so we can give each other AP!!"
he says, but he spends a lot of money to get all he needs so he doesn't really NEED his brothers to play with him
very happy when he gets to rant about the game with his brothers
Casually plays OSTs from the game, sometimes on blast and his brothers don’t even bat an eye because they all play the game hehehehe
cheers when he gets you as a surprise guest; uses wikis to make sure he does you right (he once made a wrong move and your dissent dialogue crushed his heart-- so never again)
never ranks below 100 during events
Mammon
baby tries really hard to save up for a good event card or UR+ but always ends up pulling desperately for your cards
relies on his luck to get what he wants, and when that doesn't work out, ends up putting money into the game
probably prays before each 10x pull and free draw
he's not rich enough to win aaaaaaaaa
fell in love with your character almost immediately and has not looked back since
you are Best Character; probably fights with Levi about who loves you more
gets pumped when he sees your cards; the other character are ehhh even though that's probably not the most strategic way to play
doesn't understand why he can't just have three of you on the dance team all at once
Screams whenever he loses a dance battle (“I’m so sorry!!!!!!’ he tells you as he quickly levels you up and throws a ton of glowsticks at you)
suffers when his brothers get the cards he wants-- though tbf he also brags about pulls he gets that his brothers didn't
when did this game become a competition?
Satan
f2p but he works really hard to get the cards he wants
diligently saves up and spends all his pulls on a UR+ card he absolutely MUST have
collects all the wallpapers, dialogue, and chats of every card he has of you
stares longingly at the URs and has to resist the very real urge to just buy stuff
invested in the story, the characters, the nuances, and the LORE
thinks of theories and ideas on how the world works and the facets of each character
probably write on blogs and posts fanfic
...his bros don't know about that part tho so shhhh
The animal event really grabbed him by the DICK
If there is a card of you with cat ears and a tail-- hhhhhhhh
Spends ALL his draws during this event and invests all his time and effort into unlocking the devils flower and regrets NOTHING (o´ω`o)
Lucifer
tries to not get invested
then gets invested deeply in both the storyline and the characters that he completes all the levels asap and grinds everyday to fill out the devil flowers
Takes break between work by opening the game
Refreshed with you on the home screen
Feels like dying when Diavolo catches him SLIPPIN’ peers over his shoulder and asks him what game he’s playing
Also feels like dying when Barbatos catches him humming the opening screen song
tries really hard not to buy anything and he succeeds for quite some time but alas came the hydrangeas
he started off by buying some devil (human?) points… and it escalated
slippery slope-- recharge missions took him by the neck and then he gave in to being VIP (might as well, since he can afford it…)
outwardly calm about playing the game, enjoys talking with Satan about the possible lore and having something to bond with Levi
inwardly pretty invested: adores the interactions, remembers what options are best for each surprise guest dialogue
Asmodeus
posts about all his Good pulls, especially when he gets the new UR+/UR cards
the type to unlock all the devil flowers for the flex but also for the aesthetic
scrolls through devilgram (uhh human...gram? so instagram) and unlocks every story asap
thinks the game is adorable whenever he gets to interact with you as a surprise guest
probably doesn't have a high preference for any particular card but absolutely LOVES the pretty ones
love love LOVES the fan art that people draw of you
Hums to the opening screen song in the shower or even the opening video (that he voices hahah)
gets frustrated when the levels get hard and he has to grind but so far hasnt given into buying anything
Not as invested as his brothers but he does spend money just to get a REALLY nice UR+ card like the rain event
Water does wonders for aesthetics(=^0^=)
Belphegor
the game is too fast-- so many events for him to care about that he sometimes drops off the face of the earth to play it or drops the game and takes a break from it for a while
there is no in between with this dude
he can only invest in the game when he feels like it, if he feels somewhat motivated
thinks the dance battles are funny
slightly upset when he doesn't get the cards he want from gacha but it's too bothered by it
has like at least one UR of you from an event that he didn't expect to get and that's good enough for him
the bed head cards got him feeling some type of way ////
had notifications for his AP during that period of time; has never grinded harder
Beelzebub
what can i say? the man gets lucky from free pulls all the damn time
least invested, but does enjoy reading the story and the characters; just gets kind of lazy when he gets stuck on levels
does his best to level up enough to continue the story and unlock your gram stories but has a hard time grinding to unlock devil flowers
which is understandable considering the amount of URs he has
i could probably see his brothers fight each other to get his account when he thinks about giving it away
plays more often during events because he likes the extra interactions from the game with you
Bonus:
Diavolo
Lowkey does not know how to play for a while but does log into the game just to make sure he gets his free pulls
His knowledge of the games grows EXPONENTIALLY and by the end of the first week
he’a asking Lucifer to add him, what cards he has, should he invest in this event or not
Lucifer isn’t sure if he’s happy with this development or not
Definitely has Barbatos join in on the fun too :333
Barbatos somehow ends up being as equally invested as Levi but the only way any of them can tell is because he revealed himself to be top 10 at one event
Adores every UR card of you and asks Lucifer if he should just sign up and be VIP
Does get extremely lucky at times
“Lucifer, what’s the difference between a UR+ and a UR? Huh, why? Well, this card I got has a UR+ on it--”
Ranks probably above Asmodeus and below Lucifer in terms of how invested he is into the game
#obey me!#obey me lucifer#obey me diavolo#obey me satan#obey me mammon#obey me leviathan#obey me beelzebub#obey me belphegor#obey me asmodeus#reverse au#hahah#shall we date? obey me!#obey me reverse au

———————————————————————————————— C1. Sorrowful Smile: https://winebegetswisdom.tumblr.com/post/649767597437485056/c1-sorrowful-smile-kaeya-i-whispered-entering
————————————————————————————————
“Traveller,” a familiar, icy-cold voice called out.
I turned around, and found Rosaria staring back at me with her ever cold eyes. Smiling, I walked towards her, and noticed how her eyes were. . . dim, as if she was sad. I tried to let it show, and said, “Anything I could do for you?”
“There’s something I want to discuss with you,” she replied, crossing her arms. “An issue that has been bothering me for months.”
I gulped, that tone implied that she was not happy. Giving her an awkward laugh, I then asked what her issue was.
“You see, Kaeya told me the other day how you were so excited for me after my trailer dropped. And that you skipped many characters’ banners so you would have enough primogems for me during Tartaglia’s rerun banner.”
Oh. Well this was something I did not expect her to bring up. But wait, Kaeya told her? I shoved the argument Kaeya and I had away. Not now, don’t think of that now.
I smiled awkwardly as my cheeks heated with embarrassment. “Y-Yeah, that’s all true.”
“How many primogems did you spend on me? 7000? 8000?” She continued, tapping her foot impatiently.
Not wanting to upset her by wasting time, I answered immediately. “9000 plus, to be exact.”
Rosaria arched an eyebrow, her lips bent into a distasteful sneer.
“Simp,” those words rolled off her tongue effortlessly, I would be lying if I said it didn’t hurt. “But I forgive you. The only thing I have not forgiven—and also the issue that I wanted to address—is this: Why am I still at level 20?”
An intimidating aura was coming off of her. And at this moment, I felt like a mouse: small, weak and timid.
My eyes widened as I struggled to say something. “Rosaria, listen, I—”
“—Listen to what? Your bullshit?” she snapped, appearing behind me all of a sudden. Then she lowered her voice, “Tartaglia’s banner ended months ago. And after spending all those primogems, don’t you deserve a level 80 Rosaria? Look at your inventory.”
Her voice, though soft, was like a serpent, cold and emotionless, snaking into my head, making me tremble in fear.
I clicked into the inventory, and felt Rosaria’s sharp claw-like things sink into my skin. Biting down the pain, I waited for her to speak.
“You have enough materials to level me up, don’t you?” Rosaria asked. I nodded hesitantly. “Then level me up.”
As my shaking fingers reached the “Ascend” icon, I prayed that I would have enough Mora by the end of her “interrogation”. Then, I pressed it. I watched as the screen showed me she could be leveled up to lv40.
“Get me to lv80, now.” She demanded.
Not wanting to die, I nodded and leveled her up. My heart was squeezing so tightly as I watched my 288 Hero’s Wit drop to 130. She was now at lv70, and I felt so hopeless against her.
“No. We need to level up my weapon,” she ordered, making me select Dragonspine Spear.
A few minutes later, the spear reached lv60, since I did not have enough materials to ascend it anymore.
“Ugh, what a nuisance,” she muttered. “Quickly, give me all of Kaeya’s artifacts. Seeing that mere 1048 atk compared to his 1448 atk is making my blood boil.”
She noticed my hesitation, and she did not like it. Leaning towards me, she forced me to look into her eyes. “I’m upset, traveller. Why did you pull for me if you’re not going to use me? You remind me of that one Genshin Impact youtuber named ‘Bwaap’. I bet his Ganyu is crying right now. Do you want me to be sad?”
“I. . . Rosaria, I need time to farm good artifacts for you, so please, wait a little longer. Kaeya is still needed, he holds a place in my heart that I can never replace. And as for Bwaap, that man is a legend, a respectable f2p. Do not soil his name like this, Rosaria. I’m sure his Ganyu understands.”
Grabbing my chin, she yanked me closer to her. “You do not understand us. Why spend so much if you’re not going to use? I’m not repeating myself, traveller. Give. Me. Kaeya’s. Artifacts.”
I sank my nails into her hand on my chin, struggling to pull away. “Let me go. You’re hurting me.”
I felt my body float in the air for a second, before I finally crashed onto the ground. My knees were bruised, and my ankle was sprained. When did she get so strong? It took me a second to register what had happened, and that was when I saw her looking at Kaeya’s artifacts.
She shoved me, and was stealing Kaeya’s stuff, but how was I knocked so far back? Wait, could it be that with each level up, she’s gained more strength? I need to stop her, but she’s so far away.
If she selects those artifacts, she would have full control over me. Why was I so weak? It felt as though I would be hopeless, until a familiar sword struck the ground, almost hitting Rosaria.
“My, the formidable Sister Rosaria, looting off of a Knight of Favonius?” the familiar, smooth-as-butter voice appeared.
I jumped back onto my feet as I watched Kaeya entering the scene ever so slowly. And ever so cocky.
“Kaeya!” my voice was a mixture of joy and regret.
“Don’t move, traveller, you’re hurt,” Kaeya shouted, but he kept his gaze on her. “Back off now, Rosaria. This isn’t the place to start hurting our precious traveller. Plus, I’m ten levels above you, so you should be aware of our strengths.”
His taunting worked. Rosaria took a step back, though I could not see her face, I kept my gaze fixed on Kaeya. After that fight we had months ago, I did not have the courage to speak to him. But seeing him in person now. . .
She huffed and gave an arrogant laugh. “As if that would scare me. Once I have the better artifacts, your so-called ‘strength’ will be nothing compared to mine.”
I watched as her hand pressed on the ‘switch’ icon of all 5 artifacts, and the sadistic look in her eyes as she turned to look at us both. “All that’s left is for Kaeya to be gone. Then traveller will only ever need one Cryo user—me.”
No. . . She’s going to kill Kaeya.
.
.
.
Hello!!! Thanks for reading. Sorry for antagonising Rosaria like this but HAAHHAHAHA. This is what I imagined was happening when I finally leveled up my Rosaria to lv70. After she’s been with me. . . for months. . . at lv20.
I’ve been thinking of what artifact sets to give her, but since I’m not too sure about her roles, is she better being a Physical Damage dealer or a support?

1st Anniversary and Exclusive Cards
It’s been a few months since this announcement now!
What would the new original cards be and what would implementing them into the EN server look like? 🤔
I think we’re still a long few months away from getting these cards but I can’t say I’m not excited to see what we get! In order to think about how this will happen in EN server, let’s take a look at how the other servers implemented their own server exclusive cards!
For all of these servers, the cards were usually announced around or tied into the 1st Anniversary event, “3 Cheers for Mankai Company!” (as named in EN, the original name in JPN being “Let’s Bloom! Cheer MANKAI ☆”. As per rule on this blog, I will be referring to it by its EN name and shorten it to “3 Cheers” from here on.) The only server to not have “exclusive” cards from this event was the JPN server, being the main server and already having many cards that have not been distributed outside of Japan through events, collaborations, and album releases.
3 Cheers first ran in the JPN server from January 12th 2018 to January 22nd 2018 to celebrate the 1st Anniversary release of the game (January 27th 2017). This was the first (and only) “Cheer” event (“Support” in JPN), which was unique even to Anniversary events because of the exclusive voting, or “cheer” mechanic. During the event, alongside earning points, you could earn cheers to send to your favorite boys and unlock special badges for them. They also counted as votes towards the character, and the top 10 characters’ vote rankings were posted partway through the event on January 16th, and final rankings were announced February 4th following the event.
The top ten characters got special character goods and the top three characters got “Choice Scout SELECTION” gachas! A Choice Scout is a one time only paid scout with rate ups of previous gacha cards of the specified character! Along with the ten cards from the gacha, you would also receive a “Choice Medal” to exchange for any of these specified character cards at the Trading Post (ex. if you pulled from the Itaru Choice Scout Selection, you would be able to exchange your medal for SSR [Office Worker Santa] Itaru Chigasaki or SR [Don’t Jinx It] Itaru Chigasaki, among other Itaru cards).
In this case, the top 3 characters were Itaru in first, Banri in second, and Misumi in third, so all three of them got Choice Scouts! Itaru’s Choice Scout ran from March 1st to March 5th, Banri’s ran from April 2nd to April 6th, and Misumi’s ran from May 1st to May 4th.
Not only that, but the top ranking character from each troupe were added as the cast to A3!’s first ever Mixed Troupe event, “I Come with the Night.” with Itaru in the starring role, Banri as the co-lead, Misumi as supporting cast A, and Tsumugi as supporting cast B. With this being a performance event, Itaru and Banri also got SSRs drawn by Ryo Fujiwara! This event ran from October 17th 2018 to October 26th 2018.
(Side note: this Anniversary event seemed to be a bit stressful for fans since there were only rewards for half of the cast, and many were disappointed to let down the boys that did not win. This could be one of the reasons that following Anniversary events do not have this character ranking element.)
The next server that held 3 Cheers was the TN server, with the event running from August 15th 2019 to August 25th 2019 to celebrate the 1st Anniversary release of June 2018. (It possibly came a bit late due to other event/gacha scheduling conflicts.) The event ran virtually the same as it did in JPN with the ranking results announced on October 25th. Where this event differs from the JPN version is that it was announced that the top three characters got region exclusive cards to the TN server, with first place Itaru getting an SSR, second place Masumi getting an SR, and third place Misumi getting an R card!
(Funnily enough, the results mirror the midway results from the JPN server, with Itaru, Masumi, and Misumi being the top three.)
The TN exclusive cards were released in the same Choice Scout SELECTION gachas that the JPN version had. These were only obtainable through the Choice Medal at the Trading Post. Misumi’s Choice Scout ran from February 13th to February 18th 2020, Masumi’s ran from March 4th to March 8th, and Itaru’s ran from March 13th to March 17th.
The TN server also got the I Come with the Night event from April 7th to April 16th and all the cards that came with it, despite the featured characters being the winners from the JPN server’s ranking contest (If the winners were to match the TN server’s ranking, the cast would have been Itaru, Misumi, Tsumugi, and Sakyo). This of course makes complete sense as I imagine it would be difficult to implement a full exclusive event for each server, especially with how long it took to release the event story and play in the JPN server and with the differences in scheduling that each event has.
(Side note: the Masumi banner seems to be an error with the colors and flower motif being Itaru’s gerberas rather than Masumi’s violets.)
The CN server was released November 14th 2019 and celebrated its anniversary July 22nd 2020 to August 1st. (It seemed to celebrate the anniversary early in order to preserve story chronologic order because they’re going through events much quicker than the JPN server did.) The ranking of the top ten characters was announced August 3rd 2020. Like the TN server, the top three characters in their rankings got CN server exclusive cards made by the Japanese dev team! The top three were once again Itaru in first place getting an SSR, Masumi in second place getting an SR, and Misumi in third place getting an R card!
The CN server also got a special illustration drawn by Ryo Fujiwara and an exclusive special event PV written by story writer Tom was released online!
The exclusive cards were announced February 8th 2021, as part of their Chinese New Year/Spring Festival campaign! They were once again released in the Choice Scout SELECTION gachas, with Itaru’s, Masumi’s, and Misumi’s Choice Scouts all running February 12th to February 18th. Just like the TN server, these cards were obtainable through Choice Medals exchanged at the Trading Post!
So far, the I Come with the Night event has not dropped in the CN server but it seems likely that it will proceed as a normal event with the JPN ranking cast.
So... what does that mean for the EN server?
The EN server was released October 23rd 2019 and celebrated its Anniversary with the 3 Cheers event running from October 15th to October 25th 2020. The event was nearly identical to every others’ server with the notable distinction of there not being a cheer ranking component to the event. It is unclear why this part was not included into the Anniversary event, (maybe Cybird had difficulty working under COVID restrictions or they wanted to avoid the popularity vote?) so many fans cheered for as many characters as they could rather than pouring all their cheers into their favorite. Around this time, Cybird also released a survey in-game asking fans how they felt about certain elements of the game. Some questions in particular asked what were your top three characters from the game.
Towards the end of the event, Cybird revealed the above announcement that Ryo Fujiwara would be designing “new original cards for the English version scheduled for a 2021 release!” on October 23rd. Since then, there have been no announcements on what these cards will be like, who they are of, how they will be released, etc. But, based on what we know of the other three servers, we can make some educated guesses:
(These guesses are just for fun, please do not believe anything I say to be absolutely true)
So, who will the cards be of?
Since there was no voting announced in the Anniversary event for EN version, I don’t think they will use the Cheer points to determine who gets exclusive cards. This is probably for the best because the cards won’t be determined only by the players who spend the most in-game. However, because the survey asked for players’ top favorite characters, I believe they would use these results to determine the characters who get exclusive cards. This is a much more fair way to “vote” for characters because even F2P players and players who do not use social media were able to vote for their favs, and avoided mass voting because it was accessed through the players’ game.
Another option would be for Cybird or Liber themselves to decide who gets the cards. This doesn’t involve the players so I don’t know if they would actually do this but it’s still a possibility.
The last option would be for them to give new cards for all the characters. This would be the most fair and would probably generate the most money for them if all of them were available for paid gems, but it would definitely be a lot of work for a server that isn’t the main JPN one.
Of these all, using the survey results makes the most sense to me because they specifically asked for your top three characters (I wish I still had screenshots O| ̄|_). Once again, it would make sense to eliminate the problems with the cheer rankings. Deciding on their own does not seem like something they would do and as much as I’d love every character to get a pretty new card, I don’t see why the EN server should get special treatment over the CN or the TN ones that only has three each for this event. It’s still a possibility though because the EN server is available across more countries, but I don’t think it reaches more players than the CN or the JPN server. So for now, let’s assume the new cards would go to the most voted characters of the survey.
The hitch to this idea though is mentioning Ryo Fujiwara, the lead character designer of A3! I think they did not draw any of the other exclusive cards, and only contributed to the CN server’s commemorative art. Their art is also only used in SR and SSR cards, I believe. They’ve done album covers that have been redeemed as SR cards in-game and does all of the performance event cards, which are all SSRs. If Cybird are having them draw these cards, these cards would definitely be very special and would most likely not include any R cards. This would mean that these exclusive cards will already be very different from the other servers’ cards.
How will these cards be implemented?
One theory I saw come up is that maybe EN server will have an exclusive performance event like how I Come with the Night was created as a result of the 1st Anniversary. While the fact that Fujiwara-sensei is drawing these cards support that idea because both the gacha and event SSRs would be drawn by them, I don’t know if Cybird has the liberty or capability to add something as major as a whole in-game event. The CN server had an interactive PV hosted on bilibili even though the scenario was written by Tom, the main story writer of A3!, which shows that even semi-canon events in other servers are not usually added to the game outside of the backstage stories of said exclusive cards. It would also be put in the middle of the timeline which would make formatting the server weird (already there have been some oddities from the timeline being off from the release dates of the JPN server) and would have to not further the characters’ development in a way that contradicts whats farther ahead in the timeline. What I love about A3! is that a lot of the interactions and conversations are remembered and referred back to in other cards and event stories so to have a whole event and not furthering the characters and have it not affect the three years the JPN server has on the EN server seems difficult to me. Plus, performance events in particular usually end up voiced and have play songs which I think would be a hassle to have to record for in a server the actors themselves don’t even play. I’d love it if they did and it would explain the wait time for these cards (plus it wouldn’t be too hard to skim over character development anyways since the I-Chu and PSYCHO PASS events were exclusive and I think the I-Chu event at least isn’t even canon?) and maybe it doesn’t even have to be a performance event but I do not think it will go this way.
Until we get more information, I assume that the exclusive cards will be released in the same way that the TN and the CN exclusive cards were by trading in a Choice Medal obtained from the Choice Scout SELECTION gachas. I also assume that the previous survey will decide which characters will get these exclusive cards. If anything, I hope the only difference the EN server gets is that since the cards are designed by Fujiwara-sensei, the cards will all be SRs and SSRs. I’m still unsure completely about the number of cards, but hopefully there will be more of them.
When will we hear more about these cards?
The JPN server concluded 3 Cheers on January 22nd 2018, announced rankings on February 4th, and had character Choice Scouts starting with Itaru in March. The highest voted character from each troupe were featured in I Come with the Night which ran in October. So ranking was announced under two weeks, Scout gachas started the month after, and the Mixed Troupe event ran nine months after the Anniversary.
The TN server concluded 3 Cheers on August 25th 2019, announced rankings on October 25th, and had character Choice Scouts starting with Misumi in February. I Come with the Night ran in April. So ranking was announced two months later, Scout gachas started four months after this announcement, and the Mixed Troupe event ran eight months after the Anniversary.
The CN server concluded 3 Cheers on August 1st 2020, announced rankings on August 3rd, and had character Choice Scouts all starting Febuary 2021. So ranking was announced two days later and Scout gacha started six months after this announcement.
The EN server concluded 3 Cheers on October 25th 2020. It has no rankings as of now (February 20th 2021, four month later) and therefore does not have Choice Scouts yet.
JPN had the shortest amount of time between the end of the Anniversary event and the beginning of Choice Scouts with only about a month in between. However, JPN did not need exclusive cards and did not implement the winners until I Come with the Night nine months later. Meanwhile, even though it took TN server two months to announce ranking results, both TN and CN servers started Choice Scouts six months after the Anniversary event. There’s no ranking in EN, so I can only count from when the event ended and the cards were announced at the end of October. If it were just exclusive cards, I would assume it would take six months like it had the TN and CN servers, which would mean sometime in April. But if they are doing something special with Fujiwara-sensei designing the cards, it would take some time, but not nearly as long as it did for them to come up with a whole new event scenario, so unless the EN version is getting an exclusive event, it should not take nine months which was as long as it took JPN server to get I Come with the Night. So before July.
So, based on all that and assuming scheduling is about the same as it is for all the other servers, we might be seeing these cards sometime between April and July.
What will these cards look like?
The JPN winners were cast members for the I Come with the Night play event, with the play being school themed. The TN cards were boba themed to reflect how boba has nearly become the national icon of Taiwan. The CN cards were Chinese themed with Shanghai and pandas included in the designs, fitting for Chinese New Year.
Basically my answer is I have no idea what EN exclusive cards would look like. The EN server isn’t exclusive to one specific region like the others are. Many different countries are encompassed in the EN server, so it’s difficult to say. But they will definitely be gorgeous with Fujiwara-sensei designing them.
SO WHAT IS THE TLDR???
LONG story short, I’m guessing the EN cards will be added sometime between April and July, via the character Choice Scout SELECTION gachas. They will not be determined by cheers but instead will be cards of the highest voted characters from the survey released around the 1st Anniversary. The number of cards, the rarities, the design motifs, and the characters are still unknown as of now.
I don’t know a lot so this was a pretty long winded way to say “I don’t know” and give the most basic of guesses but seeing the history and predicting based on the data was super fun. I feel that having an approximate date guessed is better than nothing but unfortunately that is about all I can surmise.
Hopefully we’ll hear more about these cards soon! I’ll be keeping my eye out for them in April 😉 Thanks for reading!
#root: I still wonder why Cybird didn’t have the cheer ranking#root: it makes sense to avoid the stress and basically have whale players decide who wins#root: but it’s not like them to stray from popular votes since their ikemen series do those sometimes#root thinks#not confirmed#anniversary event#cards#EN server#TN server#JPN server#CN server#root: look at Itaru generating millions of cheers across three servers...

ultrakatua replied to your post “You basically need to have two pairs of units and send one pair up...”
Do you want me to send you my solution? It's all f2p units. With fliers you can ignore Shannan altogether and actually, I'd recommend not fighting these units at all if you can. Naesala can reach the top left easily with Hit and Run and a Heron dancer. Altina can get the one on the top right as long as you loot either Dancer Veil or Infantry boots. She ORKO Ced.
I actually got the solution, thanks to your hint yesterday about Naesala and a Heron, so yes, it’s done here.
Here’s my problem with this mode, though. Take off Naesala, and tell me how this is doable. Take off a dancer that can move 3 spaces and can only move two, and tell me how this is doable. Find me a solution that doesn’t outright require a Smite bot to get Altina to the back to cleave things open. That’s outrageously restrictive, and considering there are times when Radiant units aren’t permitted, how are you supposed to be able to clear maps like this in the future, when it’s a different game they’re focused on?
That’s what I hate about this mode. Arbitrary restriction. If they allowed Naesala and a dancer all the time without massive score penalties, allowed Galeforce, allowed WoM dancers an easy in - we’d have options. Instead, it’s all completely restricted for no reason, and we’re forced to play with basically two long-term options: Smite, and Lunge. So great, hope no one who’s Free to Play wanted to merge up a Bartre, Ross, or Beruka ever, because now all of them have to be fodder for units you’re essentially testing out in this game mode. At least with Galeforce you inherit it because it’s useful everywhere else. This game mode demands you waste materials en masse to get skills that serve virtually no other purpose. It locks you out of common strategies and approaches to this type of map, for no reason other than artificial difficulty, and it’s lazy as hell.
I’m gonna reference another game that did a similar thing: Final Fantasy Tactics A2. A friend recommended I try it, said I might like it. I got a bit of the way through, and encountered one map, where the field was all plants. Plants being weak to fire, I went “Oh, my Fire mage will just clear this easy.” So we go in, only for some bullshit judge to show up and say no one’s allowed to use Fire magic. It’s the same type of arbitrary bullshit as Resonance Battles. You’re not being clever, you’re being obtuse. If you wanted a challenge, then design the map in a way to be challenging, don’t just arbitrarily decide that some strategies aren’t allowed, that’s not fair. Like, imagine if a mainline game tried to pull some bullshit like this. Like imagine you go into a map that’s 100% axe enemies in a game where the weapon triangle still exists, and your lord has a sword. You decide this is your time to level them up, but when you get to the map there’s just some bullshit that says you can’t use a sword. That’s not a tactics game at that point, because you’re taking away the tools the player is supposed to use and demanding we operate outside of the established mode of play. Why bother having weaknesses then? Why bother having any of it? You didn’t design a clever map, you designed something that has a clear path to victory, and rather than make it engaging by just...I dunno...having a unit with a fucking Guard effect somewhere to slow down the Galeforce charge? You just make it impossible to Galeforce. For no reason. This game mode is the antithesis of strategy-based map design. What should have had multiple solutions based on player preference and style has been completely reduced to only one possibility, which is outright demanded in every iteration of these maps, and requires a ton of extra fodder to spread out across units from all games, and which also serves no actual value outside of this mode. That’s why I hate this so much. It’s not fun, it’s not interesting, they didn’t design a fun map. They made a steaming pile of bullshit.

CEO Michael Schade about Everspace 2 and the Future of Rockfish Games
In part 1 of our interview we talked about the thrilling comeback of Fishlabs founder Michael Schade and Christian Lohr as Rockfish Games and their surprise hit Everspace, a crowdfunded rogue-like spaceship shooter for PC and consoles, which has been sold over one million units and counting. Now we look together with Michael Schade at the sequel Everspace 2, celebrated at gamescom 2019. And we talk about the future of Rockfish Games.
Making Games: Everspace 2 was a big topic at gamescom, not least because of Geoff Keighley’s words of praise at gamescom: Opening Night Live. It’s no longer a rogue-like, but an open-world RPG. Quite a risk, isn’t it? Michael Schade: Well, Everspace 2 is a sequel with the story picking up after the events of the predecessor. Still, we asked ourselves: Should we really call it “Everspace 2”, although we’re making a huge leap from a rogue-like to an open-world RPG? It’s a completely different genre! The team, especially, was concerned. But most outlets picked up the unusual approach, and the headlines read: “Rockfish Games says goodbye and drops the rogue-like formula to create an open-world spaceship shooter with RPG elements.” Since Everspace 2 will have procedurally generated loot items, something that no other spaceship shooter out there has done before, we also went with “Freelancer meets Diablo” which resonated perfectly with both the media and our fans.
For Everspace 2 Rockfish Games uses the latest Unreal Engine with Niagara Mesh Particles and Volumetric Lighting.
The demo of Everspace 2 already looks very polished. Why don’t you release it as Steam Early Access already, why do you do a Kickstarter campaign? First of all, we’d like to get the community on board as soon as possible. These days, trust in the developer is more important than ever. There were quite a few games released in the last few years that didn’t turn out as promised. We want to do it precisely the other way around. At the same time we released the announcement trailer, we also published a 22 minute Let’s Play, showing that the trailer was made of in-game graphics. That’s what the game really looks like already at this early stage of development. We even decided that all Kickstarter backers, who at least pledge on a digital copy, will get the Everspace 2 demo in November, this year. Our approach is unlike most Kickstarter campaigns, where backers have to wait at least a year to get their hands on a playable version.
How do you see the next few years, how strong do you want to grow? If you’re doing well, you’ll soon have all sorts of people knocking on your door who want to put a lot of money into your company and make it big very quickly. This is when you have to pay special attention to who your next partner is. Who you “go to bed with” for business, so to speak. You won’t be able to turn that around anymore once you have made that step. Looking back, our first venture capitalists were the wrong partners, but we didn’t have much of a choice. They never understood why we develop games, what motivates us. Of course, we want to make money, but we also want to make games that fans love — the kind of games we like to play ourselves. Games that you can actually finish and look back with joy about the hours of fun you had with while you are excitedly waiting for the next sequel or expansion. But financial investors have completely different goals. They are looking for investment opportunities where they can make at least 10x their initial investment to compensate to other investments that go bust. Typically, you won’t make such high returns from premium games, the kind of games our team was passionate about. To compete with the most profitable gaming companies in the world, you have to go F2P, but that only works if everyone is 100% on board with it. So, we will be very cautious about our next moves regarding anything beyond Everspace 2. However, we would be poor entrepreneurs if we wouldn’t take a closer look if a tempting opportunity comes along our way, even if it is outside of our comfort zone. However, we will structure any investment deal quite differently, so that nobody can ever harm our studio, our family. We’re not going to lose everything all over again, that’s for sure.
Rockfish CEO Michael Schade spoke with Making Games in his Hamburg office.
You’re a pretty grassroots democratic bunch. Does that cause any problems? We have a fantastic team that has been making great games for more than ten years together. I would never dictate them what kind of game to make, they know those details much better than I do. However, we did have several situations in the past that cost me a lot of energy. I felt that no matter how much I achieved on the sales and marketing side, it was never enough or not even recognized internally. But when I had concrete game ideas or wanted to change the general direction the team quite often just rolled eyes, and I could only convince them by pulling enough feedback from our community that wanted the same what I did. But the team and I also disagreed on some very high-level decision where I could not bring in the community (which also can be quite counter-productive). For instance, we had very different opinions on whether to continue the story of Everspace in our next game. Uwe Wütherich, our creative director, and I were very much in favor, the rest of the team was mostly against it. Uwe and I really liked our story with all its nods to sci-fi movies like Blade Runner, Battle Star Galactica, The 6th Day or The Island, and how well it fit the rogue-like format. To me it was also obvious from a business perspective that you build a sequel on the lore and the events of the predecessor. However, our team never really liked the clone-themed story of Everspace. They thought it was too generic and the hero to shallow and naïve – which makes perfect sense for a clone pilot if you think about it. But, they wanted to do something else, so I let everyone pitch their own ideas which I found even more generic and boring. At some point, I had enough. I pulled the CEO card and decided that we’ll continue the clone-themed story in Everspace 2, period. No surprise, that didn’t go down well with everyone, even our long-term story writer was not a fan, but we had to make a decision. However, I learned from our coach that entitling the team first and then overruling them is never a good idea. Some team members were pretty grumpy, others just didn’t care about the story anymore. Not good, but I was convinced I made the right call. So, we hired a story consultant who had been working on AAA sci-fi games to help us get everyone on board with the story. We found the perfect fit with Joshua Rubin, who has been working on a lot of big gaming franchises: Destiny, Game of Thrones, Assassin’s Creed. Joshua’s opinion was that of course you should keep your main characters and beloved sidekicks in a sequel, so that fans can easily connect with the new story. He also liked the clone-themed story concept and saw lots of potential. It just needed to be better executed. We’ve been working with Joshua on the story for a bit over a year now, and it has improved quite a lot. His creative talent helped immensely to eliminate the disagreements within the team. Of course, I am fully aware that great gameplay, stunning graphics, tons of content is much more important for the kind of game we’re making. However, I’ve experienced myself often enough how much an exciting story can motivate you to keep playing because you want to know where it is going, and it can also help to stand out from other games. That’s why we put so much emphasis on a captivating story.. Our ultimate goal is that each and everyone in our team will be pleased and that our fans will love Everspace 2. Fingers crossed!

homestuck-and-the-monomyth replied to your post “When you get down to it, from a strictly profit-driven perspective,...”
The issue with what you’re suggesting is that it kills all trust between IntSys and the whales. If you don’t allow the slow, painful death of the gacha to happen and instead pull the plug early, you lose the trust of all your paying customers, who (apart from the true gacha addicts) won’t spend nearly as aggressively on the next game because they just lost thousands of dollars worth of rare .jpgs and will be afraid of getting burned again.
I’d argue IntSys is doing exactly what they should be right now: seeking additional ways to get players in all categories to spend with FEH pass, while pushing in the guaranteed money-making 3H units over time. As a F2P player myself, FEH pass irks me to no end, but you better believe I’ll shell out the money for it if/when Ayra gets her resplendent version.
On the one hand, you’re absolutely right. Trust does matter when it comes to profit, because you need a consistent player base. On the other hand, absolute focus on profit rarely gives a shit about player trust. They certainly don’t seem to care now, given how many ill will they keep piling on themselves.
I’m also not sure it would have the level of effect we think it would. They know what they’re doing. Paying into this kind of game is paying into something that’s not built to last. You may as well be pissing your money away at that point. Whales spend for the ability to win at the game, and rarely to focus on favorite characters being perfected. That’s something you can do in any game. Introduce a new gacha, and the fans of the game and the people wanting to top the charts will come flooding back regardless. No one can operate against their reinforcement systems.
And besides, play your cards right, and that’s easy to work around. Give it another year and watch the profits continue to dip, maybe introduce a knowingly awful banner like the hot springs or picnics right after and blame the horrible profits off of that last ditch effort before pulling the plug, probably right before a big reveal for a mainline game that’s set to release in a few months. Maybe a nice remake of Genealogy or Binding Blade, one that people would clamor for. Let it come out, wait another few months after its release to see how it did, they introduce the new gacha with the purpose of filling that void between games they talked about. Introduce a different set of commons, and maybe start out with your first batch of rare units from the most recent game to ride that hype. When a good game ends, people tend to crave more, so it’s a good time to get in there. Everyone sees the death of the game as the result of continuously diminishing profits, you have a mainline game come out to divert attention to that which also draws profit to the mainline game as Heroes-exclusive players may seek that as a new FE experience, then introduce the new game to fill that void once people are played out of the new game. Wash, rinse, and repeat every 4-7 years to reset the profits back to their first year high.
