hi! last year i'm not really updating on the fandom and i can't seem to find this on your blog. what's with the louis and harry and italy? they seem to be spotted there a lot and i think harry also have a house there or smth? is there something special about italy? sorry if you already explained it before.

Hi, dear. Yeah, it seems like they love Italy and don't like to waste any opportunities to be there together. I think this may have started in May 2019 when Harry went to Rome for Gucci and on the same day Louis showed up with Eleanor in Portofino for a pap walk and literally no other reason to be there.

It was so out of nowhere and such a big coincidence that even tabloids picked up and made crazy rumours about a 1D reunion. Pretty sure there is also a receipt from this time.

Harry went to Italy a lot of times, even during the pandemic, he they definitely has a house there. In June 2021 , when Harry finished shooting My Policeman in Venice (IIRC their last scenes were there) he stayed a few more weeks, precisely when Louis was MIA, which lead people to believe Louis also joined him and they spent a little time there together. Louis, of course, showed up with a beautiful tan and an Italian hat a few days later:

In September 2022, Harry went to Venice for the premiere of DWD the very same week Louis was there doing promo for the release of FITF. They were both incredibly busy at the time, so desperate times call for desperate measures, I guess. All the blue and green is just a plus. The following week they were both also in NYC (twice in the same week, yes), they had shows on the same night. So they obviously planned things around this and went from Italy to NYC together. The timeline is great

And lastly, Harry will be done with LOT 2023 in July, in Italy. Louis will bring AFHF to Italy just a few weeks after that and he's not back on tour within a couple more weeks. Since they're both on tour they're probably going to spend a while away from each other and already planned their little annual Italian vacation. So I will not be surprised if one of them is completely MIA during this time while the other is in Italy.

Look I know they’re not the same but as someone who has watched My Policeman and also RWRB and really liked both…it has given me new appreciation for Harry’s acting and for being in a queer movie at all at fucking Amazon. I’ve never had respect for Amazon as a movie studio but these two really did something for me. (Yes I am consciously avoiding the idea of you and all its fuckass garbage). Harry was really so good in my policeman. If it wasn’t so devastating I would watch it all the time. I also think he was fantastic in Dunkirk.

I will go to my grave angry that My Policeman didn’t get the support it should have because of the mess surrounding DWD and Holivia.

Harry was so good in My Policeman. We’re definitely some uneven moments, but he deserved better. And so did the whole film.

I realized this because I became a Harry Styles fan just recently (not a stan, just a regular fan) and while he had the Olivia-Venice fiasco, I realized that his PR game for Harry's House - just one album - was so good. It didn't seem PR but it was. With just one album, Harry was able to conquer all aspects of the industry which, I think, was something Taylor Swift didn't realise could happen.

He conquered music, charity, concert scene, movies, even his lovelife all at the same time. He broke a lot of records. His third album came as a shock to many because it was very different from his previous works but it also is really really really good. If you'll notice, Taylor just followed his PR game. And she suddenly became obsessed with breaking every record too. 17 years after she's been in the music industry. She's putting everything in everybody's faces that she broke some record or two or three or whatever. And most of it is because she's really pushing her fans to buy everything which Harry never did. Her rerecords should be a way for her to thank her fans but instead she keeps telling them to buy more and more and more. The greed and shamelessness is unbelievable. She really wants to prove how bad her talent is. Even with his charity works, Harry gave unprecedented donations but Taylor couldnt stand that so she had to give cash to her drivers and have that shoved in all of our throats dominating Harry's numbers for her charitable works. When I was seeing all of this, I was shocked.

She can't act properly because she doesn't have that talent and instead of working on it, she had to get past SAG strike just to get her concert tour film out and make lots of money. The ticket prices were astronomical is what ive gathered. Because DWD made good money, she had to make a good one too. And My Policeman received its own accolades also. And then the Matty Healy stupidity. There was an article that came out about Matty Healy going against Harry Styles that even I, a new fan, didn't appreciate because I don't even know who Matty Healy is. After that, something must have happened because she let Healy go asap. Then looked for another guy. Kelce. His latest photo from Argentina leaving seemed he's beginning to realise she's no fun at all. This is considering they just kissed very publicly.

I was beginning to enjoy Harry styles and learning about PR powerplays and she comes along to show what her money can buy and how cheap she really is as a person. Some haters say TZP can't act but do they want to see an example of an actor bombing a character and having iffy chemistry with their co-star? Harry Styles in Don't Worry Darling. And I really like Harry; he excelled in My Policeman and Dunkirk, so I don't know what the hell happened in the Don't Worry Darling set, but every scene he had with Florence Pugh, you could see how she was the one leading and there was no equal footing. As in, Florence was relying on herself to carry all those scenes of them together instead of being a 2-way situation or Harry playing off of Florence and vice versa. With RWRB, there was NEVER a moment when Taylor and Nick were not bouncing off each other's chemistry or where the scene lacked Taylor's presence, if that makes sense. When Taylor is on screen, I never felt like he was disappearing into the background or not there. That's how I know. And this comes from someone who watched RWRB completely unbiased, with no idea of the plot, the book and who Taylor or Nick were at the time.

I like two things about what you said: one, how it shows how different perception of a performance can be from one person to another and two, how decisive a co-star can be in a performance.

I actually not agree with you on DWD but we need a bit of context. I’m not really a fan of Harry. I don’t hate the guy, I think Sign of the Times is an absolute masterpiece and I’m aware of his existence but I haven’t any particular feelings about him. I’ve seen all the three movies and my opinion of his three performances are actually the same. He was good enough not to noticeable. In my opinion while watching a movie, we mostly notice performances falling in the extremes - very good or very bad. All the in middle performances are ok as long as they blend into the rest of the movie. And Harry was always that for me. I don’t remember Dunkirk that much but I have vivid memories of My Policeman and DWD so yeah. What needs more context is how he was good enough opposite to who. I haven't seen David Dawson in anything else but he stole my heart with this performance and it so blatantly obviously that he’s an amazing actor. Florence Pugh is publicly among the most talented actress (and actor)s of her generation so of course she shined the brightest in this movie. So yeah, even if, like you said, it's normal that there is no equal footing, to be even just "good enough" opposite David Dawson and Florence Pugh when you’re not an actor yourself is already a great performance for me. And when I say when "when you’re not an actor" it’s not to put people in boxes and saying actors shouldn’t sing and singers shouldn’t act. But in the case of Harry, being on stage, singing and performing, is very obviously his fucking thing. He’s stellar at it at that’s his main job. So being even half-good as anything else is already remarkable. It reminds me of Lady Gaga actually. While watching A Star is Born, I was like *yeah, she’s a good actress* right until the moment she starts to sing and perform and my brain corrected itself by thinking *she makes a good actress but she’s actually this, whatever this is. It’s the thing she was born to do*. A switch I never had in House of Gucci, where she was just a good actress. But once again, I’m going off topic again :).

While writing, I’m actually trying to understand why Harry in DWD didn’t work for you. I’m not saying I’m right and you’re wrong, I’m just trying to look at things from your perspective. Maybe I would need another watch to get it (but I probably won’t do it so I’ll never know). But knowing all the drama that has surrounded the shooting of that movie, maybe you’re the one closest to an actual form of truth. If such things exist about art and acting performances. Which brings us to Taylor and Nick. I had never thought about it like that but you make a lot of sense. Nowhere in the movie feels like one outshine the other. Which added to the efficience of the movie and was probably helped by their off screen chemistry. And I’ve also watched it unbiased and with the same feeling at the end so i'm going to take the opportunity to say we're absolutely right 🤝😁😁😁

Venice anon here! I was at the premiere just for the beginning and the end and it was, in my colleague’s opinion, “the most awkward one we’ve ever worked”, and we probably worked more than 200 between the two of us. The cast walked in without much fanfare while guests were still being seated, which is unusual. There was an award being given to the costume designer and the side of the gallery where crew was seated was louder for that than for the film. The costume designer gave a very nice thank you speech to Olivia and it seemed like things were going to go well for her but by the time we came back the vibe in the room was very different. It was one of the shortest applause we’ve ever seen, with the fact that Florence just started to walk away about 2 minutes in being the complete kiss of death. I am flabbergasted that a room full of fans and crew was so cold when it came to the end, like that is THE most forgiving room you’ll ever screen your film for. I guess they were picking up on the awkwardness of the cast vibes which was palpable. My colleague called it the “cringe mist”.

As far as Holivia interactions go, the one where they briefly whisper behind Chris’ back was literally the only one before and after the film. I was standing where I could see her directly and my girl was trying but Harry was literally saying hello to anyone who would look his way rather than locking eyes with her. I saw them standing before the screening and they were in separate groups, I’m sure they must have interacted but it definitely was not date night lol. Some of the Italian girls working as ushers there were saying “we should try, he’s obviously single” or something like that.

Re the Nick kiss, they did that because in the opening scene the characters joke kiss in the same way. We all know he would have picked Chris, cmon. Who, btw, was high as a fucking kite.

In general, this film is the talk of the town but the old motto of Olivia’s namesake about all press being good press doesn’t really apply here. She made such a spectacle of this and the film doesn’t nearly hold up, and all everyone’s talking about is how insane this rollout have been. Her and Harry are the ones that are coming out of this worse, and I’m so happy he has My Policeman coming out soon because otherwise I fear his acting career might not have the longevity we all hoped.

I just hope that whatever they're doing, this marks the start of the "are they still together?" press that inevitably ends in breakup articles everywhere when the movie drops.

Olivia's got what was coming for her. She greedily lapped up every single ounce of Harry Styles' fame for herself for the past two years, and inserted herself in every single tabloid and narrative to sell this movie. Her team must SUCK, because evidently they're a bunch of yes-people, bc no way a good team would have advised her to do this knowing full well her movie doesn't hold up. Heck, the entire fandom has been saying this for years - so that's evidence enough.

I kind of love that Harry kissed Nick after the movie was shown. Everyone in attendance obviously knew his joke - but to literally the rest of the world who hasn't seen the movie yet, to them and the press, it's Harry Styles excitedly kissing his male co-star after ignoring his alleged girlfriend during her own movie premiere. I agree, I am SO GLAD that H has My Policeman coming bc all the press he's gotten from DWD and his interviews, paired with the film's terrible reviews would have meant certain death to his acting career otherwise. "Just another singer who thinks they can act". I'm VERY hopeful that his name and acting career are redeemed thru My Policeman. The film, and Harry's Tom, have gotten nothing but praise so far. And the fact that the whole cast has already won an award is so telling.

I'm sad for Harry that Olivia's greed, unprofessionalism and lack of directing talent affected his performance in this movie so terribly. he got no time to rehearse, as he jumped on the project merely a few weeks before filming. Had no time to work thru things with a dialect coach, flesh out scenes or receive good direction for the final takes.

I sussed out your feelings about mp too and it was definitely because you didn't post anything about it, I was like hmm, oh no she didn't like it :(, hahah. So I'm guessing it was the same for the other anon. I'd still be interested to hear what you did think about it. I have some thoughts about what his strengths and weaknesses are but I don't know if anyone feels the same...

After I watched My Policeman I was full of ranty questions about script and directorial choices, and also it was 1am and also I was in a FOUL mood due to other reasons, so I didn't want to start complaining about it on here (and yesterday was super busy)

But yes, Harry's acting! I think it's a mixture of good, occasionally really good, not so great. I felt that My Policeman was a far more challenging role for him than DWD and it showed.

I think Harry has genuine acting talent, he has natural instinct, but in My Policeman his lack of experience and training is clearly evident. I think his acting in Don't Worry Darling was unfairly maligned by some and lauded by some, but if you look at the scope of legit reviews the overall consensus was that he was fine and delivered on the assignment and his natural charm- essential to his character- came through.

That was my takeaway from Don't Worry Darling too. I've seen it 2 or 3 times now and I think he was a really good fit for the role. The chemistry between Jack and Alice is palpable, his easy charm and humour is evident, his discomfort and desperation in later scenes comes through clearly.

Where it's clear he's just "fine" as opposed to really good is in the intense, angry scenes with Florence Pugh where she's so masterful and he's...acting. I genuinely felt he held his own and was fine, but those scenes would have been elevated if Florence had an actor to match her intensity rather than just giving her a platform to shine. However I'd say that about a lot of actors when in a scene with Florence Pugh.

In My Policeman, honestly it's hard to separate Harry's acting from so many of the things I disliked about the film. But there were certain scenes where I felt he was really good and showed an instinct and commitment that's promising and exciting, and where his rawness came across as natural and vulnerable rather than inexperienced. Like the drunk scene with Patrick, and the intimate scenes in general. David Dawson is so damn good and felt like a generous actor, he took Harry with him. Honestly their scenes were the only times I felt the film came alive.

Elsewhere....oh god, the damn accent! It was so clearly hampering Harry's delivery and it wasn't even successful, so it was lose/lose overall. As soon as I saw the clip in the trailer where Tom shouts at Patrick about marriage at the table, I thought "uh oh". It seems like Harry's attempt at a southern English accent started and ended with "enunciate the 't's". And even that was inconsistent. It so obviously ruined his flow and often made his delivery stilted and awkward.

Overall I felt like it was an overly-ambitious role for Harry at this stage and it got the better of him. BUT I so admire that he went after it and gave it his all. I'm sure it scared the shit out of him to take it on....and good! It should! 🙂 I bet he's learned a huge amount from it and hope the critical response doesn't put him off continuing to challenge and scare himself, and to learn and grow as an actor.

Hi sugar. I think everything having to do with DWD and Olivia was most likely agreed upon, in part, because of My Policeman. But I think he also took the role because it seemed like a good move for his career at the time. It could have been a good role. I don't think he was just negotiating the role in September because we saw him with the book in February of that year. He very obviously put it in the pocket of his coat and took a photo with a fan so it would be seen. He wanted people to know. My guess is that he already had been offered the role in MP before he took the one in DWD. And yeah, I'd imagine he's pissed about a number of things having to do with her.

My Policeman Review

Okay I was initially going to wait until tomorrow to write this (or rather later in the day as it's currently about 2 am by me) but I needed to pen out my thoughts while they're fresh in my mind.

I did think the movie was beautifully done. It was aesthetically pleasing and visually appealing. I noticed quite a few touches that made it unique to Michael, such as the heavy use of mirrors and the background blurring into the foreground (and I know these aren't specially unique to him but I wouldn't say these are super common features in the films I've personally watched).

David Dawson, Emma Corrin, and Rupert Everett were the stars of the show, in my opinion. The whole cast is talented but I was especially drawn to these three. Really tugged my heart strings at times 😀

I cried. Like A LOT lmao full on sobbed at the end, I won't lie to you. I did while reading the book, too. It's just such a sad and unfair story. I can't even type this without getting emotional so perhaps we can talk about it after I get some sleep lmao

I wish some of the scenes were longer. I understand there's a lot to cover in a short amount of time, but some of the scenes felt rushed (i.e. Tom and Marion's first kiss scene). Sometimes I just wish there was more to it. I wonder if I felt so strongly about the movie because of how I felt while reading the book. Like if I only saw the movie I wonder how I'd feel.

Harry's acting...*sigh*. I tried so hard to like it, I promise. I really loved the book and I thought the movie was almost as good. But Harry's acting is just questionable. I found myself kind of frustrated at parts because of how forced it seemed. And I don't blame him. I don't think it's his fault. He's not super experienced and it's pretty different from his normal career. I just...wish he was better? Idk how to say this without people taking personal offense to it but that's my opinion.

Also, in case people ask, I'd say he was better in this than DWD but not by a lot. And that's not necessarily on the directors but it's solely on the fact that he's just not a strong actor, again in my opinion.

Lastly, I just want to add something about my personal thoughts on the story as a whole and not just the film.

I've said it a couple times but for those who don't know, I identify as queer (I say bisexual but my definition most closely resembles pansexual). I'm very fortunate to live in an age where queerness is more accepted. However, I think I felt so strongly about this story because as a queer person, I can relate a little bit. Obviously not to the same extreme, I understand that. But in my experience, it's still slightly terrifying.

I'm pretty open about my sexuality here and with my friends. And while although most of my family knows, it's not something I openly talk about with them. My mom's side is rather accepting, with the occasional homophobic comment from the more conservative members. And my dad's side doesn't speak to me anymore. It's mentally exhausting and unless you've been through it, it's really hard to explain what it feels like. My Policeman helps explain that feeling, at least a little bit.

I'm happy to talk about it more if you'd like.

And I just wanted to mention that ^^ so some of you can understand why I really love this book so much. It's a heartbreaking story but it's also a feeling that's hard to explain through words alone.

Every time a new magazine interview with Olivia dropped my dislike of Harry as a fan increases I'm sad to say it but it's what I feel. I cannot separate Harry from her anymore because He and all the people around him have been supporting everything Olivia does for the last two years and I'm 100% sure that all the hints that Olivia includes in her interviews regarding to same brands Harry wear and the many times she mentioned Harry or shade his fans are previously discussed with his team, lowkey Olivia does the dirty work and "call out" his fans while Harry cowardly hides behind her. I hope Harry never steps on a movie set again, he doesn't deserve it.

Why would you be able to separate them, he’s not really left you that option. I don’t think you’re overly involved in his personal life if you struggle to separate him from Olivia they’re very enmeshed as far as media coverage goes.

Olivia doesn’t have moral scruples so if people expected her to not try and take advantage of my policeman or any of Harry’s other projects they will be very disappointed. I hate fans giving platforms to this people that are only here for clout. Harry was never going to the BFI My Policeman premiere. He always had a show on the 15th and only has the 16th off and those are the 2 days the film is being showed there. As for HSHQ not promoting MP as much as DWD… last time I checked people seemed pretty bothered with the e-mails and giving free tickets. So I think this a good thing?! I really don’t want MP to have the same kind of promo DWD had, basically begging for people to go watch the movie and relying on Harry’s fans. That was fucked up. I don’t think they need to do that with MP.
