Last question from me sorry, but do you write full time? It's my dream career to write literary fiction and I want to make it happen, but I'm worried it may not pay enough to carry living cost, especially with a family. If you do work, how do you find balancing work and writing?
No prob, happy to answer! So most of the authors I know, including international prize winners, work in some form or other — while litfic advances can be hefty, royalties are essentially sawdust and queefs.
Re your question about difficulty, I work part time but my job is very conducive to writing: I'm in the humanitarian sector so tons of travel aka writing time, it comes with danger pay wrt going into conflict zones so I can afford to work less hours than a desk job, and there's plenty of downtime even when stationed somewhere. Eg my first book was drafted in a Ukrainian refuge where I was stationed in early 2022 and a couple months ago I edited my "Maglor is a bird guy" fic sat inside a tent in Burkina Faso LMAOOO
However, I would 100% find it very difficult if I was working full time, or was doing a job that didn't have those opportunities to write — it's honestly a curse, because yeah it's not at all enough to live on unless you're Atwood II.

so. yes but it's slightly more complicated than that. basically the book was written based off of an old copy of the script with no input from the final movie, so anderperry, which primarily exists because of decisions by ethan hawke, rsl, and peter weir, isn't really in that version. i believe? neil's love interest is supposed to be ginny danburry, who was cut from the final movie. i don't remember there being anything in the book that wasn't in the deleted scenes though i could be wrong. it's not really significant or even clear that she's supposed to be a love interest. knox does sexually assault chris, it exists in place of him kissing her while she's asleep. to be clear what knox does to chris in the actual movie is still sa, in the book it's just worse.
personally my biggest issue with the book is that it basically adds nothing from the script. scripts aren't supposed to be the whole story, more a framework for the final version. if you read the script you should really only get part of what you would get from watching an actual complete production, and generally you are never supposed to read a script like it is the complete story. the book could have hypothetically added what was missing from the script in terms of characters personality and emotions and visuals etc etc and even if the final product was completely different from the movie i still would have at least respected it for doing that, but it didn't and the result is that the book is extremely bland and generally empty feeling
overall i wouldn't say the book is horrible, more so extremely mediocre. the writing is kind of too bad for me to take it seriously though.
ok so im getting the dps book and i need to know how bad it is. apparently they erased all of the anderperry and neil has a love interest and knox sa’d chris?? what is going on?? i havent looked at too many posts of the book so i dont get spoiled too badly but i just need like a warning like is it horrible like should i not read it.. im scared.

Just saw this again, and it reminded me that this specific quote is one of the main reasons why I believe in Byler endgame. 🤷‍♀️
In S4, Will is so worried that Mike will never want to hear that Will is in love with him.
To subvert that expectation, the exact opposite needs to occur
Will ended up masking his love confession by using El’s name, but that only prolongs the secrecy of his feelings
In S5 the painting lie is 100% going to come to light, and Mike is going to find out
Will’s going to have no choice but to finally tell him the truth
“I’m in love with you”
And Mike has to react to that admission of love - the love that made him feel wanted and needed and the heart
(And I know this has all been said before but, nobody should ever have wondered if Mike would react badly/homophobic to it, because if you’ve watched the show you already know that was never even a possibility)
Instead of not wanting to hear it like Will assumed, Mike is going to be over the moon happy and relieved. He’s going to subvert Will’s question: “what if they don’t like the truth?”
Mike is going to love the truth.
Basic storytelling technique waves this answer in our faces, but some people are too entrenched in heteronormativity/denial/homophobia to see or believe it

"Atta girl..." – Sam Monroe
Tumblr media
mindless smut below MDNI
masterlist – navigation – rules
“Sam— oh god.” Your pace quickens, humping down onto the boy’s throbbing length. Poor Sam had gone dumb, jaw slack as his hips twitched upward; desperately thrusting upward into your greedy hole.
His head lolled back on his pillow, pathetic whines bouncing off the walls as tears started to form in Sam's eyes. The raven was in pure bliss, unable to comprehend that you were letting him bury himself into your gummy walls.
The pair of you looked almost... pornographic. Sam picked his head up, hands reaching for your hips out of instinct. His lashes fluttered, staring up at your heavenly form before glancing down to where your bodies met; groaning at the sight.
A hot creamy ring had formed around the base of his cock, strings of his precum and your arousal mixing; smearing across his lower abdomen and inner thighs - your lower half doing nothing but reflecting his own, "Keep... keep going baby, 'm so close."
Your hands fell forward, nails pressing into the milky skin of his shoulder; leaving inflamed crescents in their wake. Whines grew louder, the image of your body and sweet little sounds engraved into his memory - stained to the back of his eyelids, cursed to see the sight of you whenever he closed his eyes.
But god, it was worth it. Listening to your pathetic mews as you begged for more, clawing at his chest as his hands declared war with your hips. He dug into the plush fat, chin tilting up as his back flexed, "C'mon sweetheart, please."
You both grew unfocused, rolling and thrusting like helpless virgins - your hand cupping against your lips, poorly concealing your pitchy moan as your silly walls spazed around Sam's twitching; his own high pulling gasping groans from his throat.
"Atta girl..." Sam's words fell breathless, heavy hands brushing the hair from your eyes as you collapsed against his chest; your thighs quivering and head heavy - pussy full.

I really like this theory! Because I was thinking the same during the last few chapters when we finally get a glimpse of Sylus and MCs memories. This is the link - https://x.com/millecreupe/status/1813809147508613476?t=2YsqG032kliHKY18Z4QKZg&s=19
The way I'm so dedicated to this cause that I ended up making a Twitter account just to view this.
Let me preface that I am a bit freaked out right now because everything OP wrote about in this thread is pretty much accurately aligned with every specific detail I've predicted/theorized about Sylus and his purpose of changing fate/breaking cycles/etc. I've delayed making any posts about lore because I genuinely don't want to go back into the story chapters to take screenshots and shit, it's very tedious to me LOL 😭😭😭😭😭 I promise I remember what I can, even if it's not miniscule details, I just take away the important things!
(Side note: I've previously predicted/prophesized things before that have come true & I'm a little spooked by it. I don't like to put things out there unless I'm super passionate about a subject LMFAO)
[Warning: VERY LONG info dump/theory post ahead!]
Often when it comes to unveiling or creating monsters, there is always a price to pay. That's the common formula for any story involving someone who has an alternate form or is on the verge of becoming something non-human. It takes a special kind of trigger - often, it's intense emotional states - to unleash a creature or be granted a uniquely regal power. (ex. Eren from AoT, Nero in DMC5, Ignis in Final Fantasy 15)
I'm going to follow the evidence listed in OP's thread for my references + additional responses to the thread that are relevant, which I will link here for easy clickback! (Thank you so much again anon!)
I want to dive into one of the examples I listed first before I proceed. (Light spoilers ahead, and iffy details since it's been so long since I played the game.) While Ignis doesn't have an alternate form whatsoever, there's a DLC in FF15 where you have the opportunity to play as him during the climatic event of main story. Essentially, this would involve Ignis changing the planned fate of the protagonist where he would end up sacrificing himself in the very end to save his world and his people. Ignis pretty much defies that fate, going against godly forces and sacrificing a part of himself that ends up changing the canon ending. In short: Ignis saves the protagonist, everybody else, and everything's great. Yay!
I'm a broken record at this point by saying Sylus' involvement is going to defy fate and interrupt the timelines. TLDR; He's going to ultimately save MC from her curse and break the cycles, no matter the cost.
First, let's discuss Sylus' Evol (power). Energy manipulation can mean a lot of things, though as far as the story has shown us, this means he can bend anything/anyone at will through energetic binds. Also, he can know someone's deepest desires, which is activated when his right eye glows.
At a certain point in Chapter 9 (or 2.1), Sylus mentions something about the MC's Evol being weaker/not as strong as before. While we know Energy Resonance is the MC's power, there seems to be something more at play when it comes to it. It's a likely possibility that the MC herself is more powerful beyond resonating with others, perhaps to the point of causing re/destruction.
I like what OP says in part 3 of the thread: "I assumed MC didn't kill him but instead resonated with Sylus, making his self healing ability double in power, AND at the same time directly **pouring the energy of her aether core into the core the he would be implanted, forcibly reshaping a "heart" in his body."
[Previous quote was in alignment to: "Sylus turned into a wanderer. And if mc died and didn't kill him there, he might completely turn into a wanderer..."]
It's hard to deter me from the belief that in the flashback we saw towards the end of 9.2 that Sylus was literally in a Wanderer form. The arm that moves and reaches out to MC is a lot bigger than her own and when looked at closer, you can make out a textured hand with claws. You can see his palm held out faced upwards, and a weapon floating(?) just atop the center of it.
[10/25 UPDATE: The last time I touched this post was back in July, LMAO. This has been sitting in my drafts for months, but now with the Sylus Translation Project, I'm happy to add it to this mini dissertation.]
Here are some points from the Reddit post that struck my interest the most:
[Changed Facts] Changes how Sylus's powers work: specifically, there are invisible shackles inside of his body that prevent him from absorbing even more power. There is not a tether that prevents him from "tapping into" more power. This is a fundamental power difference and has created a complete misunderstanding about how his powers truly work amongst English-only speakers in the global community.
[Missing Fact] Sylus's Aether Core works by him invading and taking over consciousness; he does not merely perform basic mind control, it's actually far more insidious and terrifying.
[Power Nerf] Sylus's powers are actually described as "all-powerful and all-encompassing" but this was somehow reduced into merely blocking exits.
I encourage you to read the entire post in full, for it shifts so much about Sylus' character. Though for me personally, it only justifies all my speculations and conclusions about his character even beyond mistranslation. I will repeat myself over and over and OVER again: Sylus is beyond powerful, way more than we even know and I'm honestly just waiting for Infold to do something to show this grand transformation or show of power.
With these fixed translation points, it makes sense why he's so desperate to resonate with MC. A few comments on the Reddit post have the same speculation I did that it's possible him and MC have the same Aether Cores in their bodies. [OP responded to a comment with: "MC hears things like "Devour," "He's yours," "It belongs to you," I almost wonder if it's actually because they share two halves of a single Aether Core…"] [[THIS I AGREE WITH HEAVILY.]] If this is the case, I don't doubt that Sylus knows this, but he would rather MC find this out on her own due to some morale of integrity, building her inner strength, etc.
TLDR; Her resonating with him would unleash those shackles. I also don't think it's amiss that MC also has some kind of shackles, but that's just me thinking of other possible scenarios. Everything is so vague with this story because we've only been fed so much tidbits.
But one thing's for sure... I really, really think these two are the true fated pair, to a certain degree. And why it's difficult for them to resonate is due to the fact that they both wield a power that can shift the world, the universe... everything altogether.

I had a week long vacation not long ago, so I finally have enough energy to talk to non-medical friends once again. And I just realized once again, I'm not sure how to talk to them.
They tell me all the things they participated in, and I'm truly happy for them, all the while thinking I would never have half that much energy. They ask me how I am, I tell them I'm good, finally had a vacation. What did I do? Oh, literally nothing, tried to sleep off the worst of the exhaustion and tried to avoid interaction with other humans. How's work? You know, just the usual, it's good. It is good, and I love it, but how could I tell them all the horrors witnessed? That's right I don't, but what else do I have left to talk about? Most of my fun work stories are tainted with the shadows of tragedies... And unfortunately, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
So I just read their cheerful message and leave it on read, contemplating what to answer. And just hope they won't take offence to my agonizingly slow replies...

I really wish they handled Shawn and Jules getting back together after the breakup differently. I get it's first and foremost a comedy, so they don't always want to make it about the serious topics, but that moment was something really important for their relationship. All those years Shawn lied to Jules about the whole thing made her lose her trust in him, and yet, everything was easy and she took him back like it didn't matter after just a few episodes. That being said, I HATED how she treated Shawn and made it seem like he wanted to lie to her. He was already doing his psychic thing before she showed up and wasn't planning on falling for anyone in the police department.
I think they should've at earliest, waited til Season 8 to start dating again. And maybe not even by the end of the series, at least in my opinion. I like them together, but I think things for the both of them would never be the same after this happened.

*aHEM* okay. let's try this again
so i did a theory thing i guess like months ago where i tried to figure out why Fukuchi said that Fukuzawa's answer was wrong about his motives, and it SUCKED tbh. which is why it is now in the trash next to my sanity
and recently i did that again, but this time i went back and read 30+ chapters (starting from chapter 71 and backtracking a few times) and collected Too Many screenshots of panels to use while i write a new theory because i was unhappy with my first one but i promise i'm not going to make you look at all of them because that would be cruel and make this post infinitely longer
i'll include a tldr at the bottom for this since it really boils down to one point, and to get to that one point i want to cover quite a bit of context so i understand if you just want to read the Main Point lol
so let's try this Fukuchi's goal theory again but better this time
*distant sleep-deprived sobbing*
🔺spoiler warning for chapters 70-104.5
Starting with what we know...
Tumblr media
So this is the first thing we learn before we even know Kamui is Fukuchi, coming from Mushitaro in chapter 70. What I want to focus on is Ango's response to the information, because YEAH that's exactly what I said too the first time I read it!! Why does he say "eliminate" and not "overthrow"?? Don't people usually overthrow a government? Well, this makes more sense to us later once we learn Fukuchi doesn't actually plan on overthrowing anything. What he really wants is to eliminate the concept of different "governments" and different "nations" altogether. This is what we learn in his speech about heading what he calls 'the Humankind Army', in chapter 82. He's not trying to become the leader of the entire world, so to speak, he just wants the entire world to be united with a single army so that there are no borders and no armies beyond the One Single Army.
Okay, but why?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fukuchi, now that he's be revealed in chapter 85, just straight up admits he plans on "eliminating" every single nation. He doesn't want to leave a single one out of his Humankind Army, because that would leave room for error. Every nation must be brought into the fold or eliminated altogether in order to prevent wars from ever breaking out again, according to him. I'm not going to explain how ludicrous this plan is because I don't need to, he's a villain doing villain things and he genuinely believes that he will get away with this because he has Bram and One Order. Not to mention, he is amplifying Bram's power to some degree, as this is something he reveals to Tachihara when the latter claims that taking over half the world's armies is an impossible feat in chapter 90. It’s possible he could do the same with One Order, since it is an ‘ability weapon’, but it’s impossible to know for sure until we see him use it.
I think the second image pretty much explains why he wants to eliminate the nations. He was a weapon of war, essentially, commanded by the nation he served to slaughter his adversaries while he watched his comrades die around him. He's clearly traumatized/haunted by the deaths of his comrades, as we're shown a couple of times that he has PTSD-like flashbacks or hallucinations to when he was on the battlefield. In one of these flashbacks/memories, we see him being told by a dying soldier to seek revenge.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
calm down walmart batman
Now, here's where things get interesting, because in chapter 104.5, we learn that revenge is not his goal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fukuzawa guesses it is, saying it's revenge on the government that sent him and his comrades to war over and over again using a healing ability, and also punishment for Fukuzawa himself for ‘betraying’ Fukuchi and not going to war with him. However, Fukuchi immediately corrects Fukuzawa by straight up stabbing him in the gut... So his goal obviously isn't actually getting revenge on the government or Fukuzawa, or the ADA as a whole even.
I don't think he wants revenge, either. He's not necessarily vengeful, despite what those flashbacks might say. No... It's worse.
Fukuchi wants justice.
There's a few things that led me to forming this theory, so bear with me here...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think these pages specifically are interesting because, while it doesn’t say much about his motives, we clearly see he has complicated views towards Fukuzawa. He offers Fukuzawa (him, specifically, not the ADA) protection from the government and the Hunting Dogs, and even acknowledges that he considers Fukuzawa a close friend in front of Atsushi. However, he is also upset or maybe even spiteful that Fukuzawa didn’t go to the battlefield with him like he wanted, and therefore didn’t have to experience all the horrors that Fukuchi did during the war. To some degree, he wants to make Fukuzawa suffer as he has (hence why he captured the ADA members and is displaying them for Fukuzawa to see).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fukuchi also talks about angels a lot. Which does make sense considering he heads the Decay of the Angel, where ‘angels’ are more accurately Devas from Buddhist scriptures, which are mortal angels. The 5 stages of decay are what we witnessed at the beginning of this whole thing, when the DOA went through the first 4 stages with high-ranking politicians, and then Nikolai framed the Agency for the final stage with even more politicians as victims. The line about reincarnating is interesting to me, because it could be alluding to Fukuchi eliminating every nation and then creating the Humankind Army in its place as the ‘ideal reincarnation’, as there would be no more war. This, with Fukuchi, could be manifesting in the form of wanting to bring the world itself and these ‘angels’ to justice for their wrongdoings. But also enact justice on behalf of his fallen comrades who no longer have the ability to do so.
The entire theme of the Hunting Dogs is that they all have an extremely strong drive for justice, but all in their own ways. Currently in the story, however, almost none of them agree with Fukuchi anymore, and have either formed their own sense of justice that goes against Fukuchi, or has placed more value in something else over that justice.
Out of all the Hunting Dogs, the one who talks about justice the most is Tecchou. But we’ve already seen Tecchou find something worth putting above his sense of justice; Jouno, who he wants to find more than he wants to enact justice on Kenji for being a ‘terrorist’. Jouno also has his own form of justice, which is to protect the innocent above all else, as we see him declare as he defies Fukuchi in chapter 93 before being bitten.
Tachihara was the first to abandon his belief in justice and Fukuchi, stating that orders make him who he is as we see a panel of Mori telling Tachihara to destroy the enemy of the world (aka Fukuchi). Unfortunately, following orders apparently can’t save you from being stabbed from the past. And then blinded. And bitten. Tachi can’t catch a break or any story time even 2 years later
Teruko, who has already been told all of Fukuchi’s plans by the man himself as of chapter 103.5, still chooses to follow Fukuchi of her own free will, telling Atsushi that ‘justice is but a word’ in the face of that. I’m not sure if this means she’s no longer following a sense of justice at all, or if she just puts her will to follow Fukuchi to the end of the earth above it. Either way, she’s the only one still following Fukuchi in the Hunting Dogs at this point. However, she lets Atsushi go, which makes me think she’s resigned to letting Fukuchi carry out his plans but doesn’t want to get involved herself.
Fukuchi is the only one who believes in his own sense of justice above all else, and it could be what is fueling him to carry out whatever world-ending plans he has. There’s not many other explanations as to why a man like Fukuchi would be so determined to reach his goals, since we know for a fact that revenge is at least not the main contributor here. Not to mention, Atsushi calls Fukuchi a ‘representative of justice’ in chapter 83.5, and Fukuchi doesn’t correct him or mention it.
Tumblr media
So besides another reference to angels, it’s interesting to see Fukuchi call the chairman ‘foolish’ for thinking he was doing all this to save the world. This adds to the idea that he doesn’t see salvation for the world as it is, which ties into the fact that he wants to remake the world under the Humankind Army. He doesn’t plan on saving the world as it is, nor does he plan on dominating it at the basic definition of the concept. He wants to carry out justice to destroy and then reincarnate the world under one army controlled by one man and one nation. It’s probably more accurate to say he wants to unite the entire world under the army more than under himself specifically, but it’s still debatable at this point.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fukuchi’s mental state is also called into question a few times. We see Atsushi questioning it in chapter 91 during the ADA meeting in Lucy's room, and then obviously there’s the handful of flashbacks we get of the battlefield Fukuchi stood on, either surrounded by bodies or witnessing the end of one of his comrades, or standing before a crater where soldiers were most likely standing at one point. We also see during the two Fukus memory flashback that Fukuchi was scared he’d return from the war a changed person, which is why he wanted Fukuzawa to go with him. This is most likely what Fukuchi is referencing in chapter 103.5 when he tells Fukuzawa that ‘the person he knew before does not exist’, and that ‘the battlefield changed everything’. This mental state probably doesn’t help the whole destroying-and-rebirthing-the-world thing he has going on right now. Not to mention, in the memory in chapter 104, Fukuchi originally went into the military with the idea that his actions were ones that saved lives, and that war was not the enemy of everything on earth. He genuinely believed he could protect his comrades in war. But when he couldn’t save anyone, his views changed drastically to what they are now, which is shockingly similar to what Fukuzawa said in opposition to Fukuchi in the memory: that the only things found at war were actions that took away lives.
Conclusion/TLDR: Fukuchi doesn’t want revenge or to dominate the world by himself, he wants to destroy the governments and nations of the world and then create the Humankind Army to begin the reincarnation of one unified nation under that army. All for the sake of preventing war from ever breaking out again, and therefore enacting his delusional form of justice upon the negligent nations that allowed war to happen in the first place. This is also justice served for his fallen comrades that beg him to take revenge.
