WIP Wednesday-!!💛

It's Wednesday again! I swear it was only just Wednesday... But anyway! This is a two part WIP, both a sketch and some writing. The writing can be described with a single sentence - Elyse is in Denial™️. The drawing is an attempt at designing a new outfit for Balgruuf - one that seems fancy and formal but isn't as difficult to draw as his usual clothes.

I've been tagged by @hircines-hunter and @skyrim-forever and I will be tagging @thequeenofthewinter and anyone who wants to share a wip (I'd tag more people but I'm absolutely exhausted and not many names are coming to me right now... But if anyone wants me to tag them let me know-!! ;u;)

So first of all, the drawing! It's a partially coloured drawing of an outfit I've started designing for Balgruuf... I wanted to have him wearing something other than his usual outfit, but still has some similarities (it's such a hassle to draw what he wears on his torso aside from the fur over his shoulders!). You get some of my little notes too :) I've not settled on the remaining colours aside from there being a yellow accent somewhere, hence why only part is coloured. I think it's going to be what I'll have him wear in The Perfect Storm when he marries Elyse ;3

“Is that all of them?”

“I... I think so?” Elyse let out a quiet sigh as she leaned down and placed her hands on her knees as she attempted to catch her breath. “By the Eight, I’m more out of shape than I thought I was.”

“You still did well though, even if you have spent most of winter hibernating in Dragonsreach.”

Her eyes darted up as she glared at her friend, who was now quietly laughing at her reaction. “I swear, that is what – the third time you’ve brought that up today?” Elyse stood up straight and folded her arms over as she raised an eyebrow. “Why do you keep trying to tease me about staying there, Lyd?

Lydia walked over to her and placed her hands on her shoulders. “Please don’t tell me that you’re blind to it. Please.”

“Blind to what?”

“The Jarl has eyes for you!”

Elyse frowned at that statement, before tutting and shaking her head. She then broke free from her grasp. “He’d do the same for any other Thane if they were in a situation like mine.”

“But those Thanes aren’t the Dragonborn. Those Thanes aren’t you,” Lydia grinned, which just made Elyse scoff and turn on her heel. “Come on, you can’t be that naive-“

“I love you Lydia, you’re like a sister to me, but by the Divines, you are annoying when you get these sorts of ideas in your head.”

“Jarls wouldn’t just get expensive jewellery for the birthday of any old Thane, you know. Nor would they shut themselves away when they upset any old Thane either. Invite them to join them at a festival. Or throw everything down when they hear that they’ve ended up under the care of the Temple of Kynareth! Divines, Elyse, he’s trying to court you!”

Elyse momentarily tensed as her face heated up, then shook her head. “No... That- He isn’t-“ She clenched her fists. “He isn’t... Couldn’t. Not me...” She then began to walk away. She didn’t want to handle any of this, not right now.

“I served Jarl Balgruuf for a few years before he assigned me to be your Housecarl... And trust me when I say that he acts different around you, in a way that he does nobody else.”

Pursing her lips together as she continued walking away, she tried her best not to dwell on what Lydia was saying. They were friends, of course she liked to tease her – though it was normally over her abysmal cooking skills, or how easily she got drunk... Not this.

But at the same time, did she have a point? She couldn’t possibly count the number of times he had sat with her to have tea, held her close, or wiped away her tears-

“Elyse!” The sudden yell from behind her made her flinch, before she quickly turned around and gasped.

just a gentle reminder that THIS is how big the spines around blamore's neck are whenever he doesn't shrink them... so, it's pretty much a surefire way for it to keep other people away from him, NGL ☠️ (unless you are trying to get poked in the eye JSJSJ / j i'm kidding, i'm kidding (,: but blamore really does have several natural defenses against any 'aggressors,' i guess you could say, and it's spines REALLY add to it's uncannyness whenever they're at full - length ).

alright~ a few updates about everything! so this weekend I'll be seeing changkyun in chicago- so I prolly won't be posting until after I'm alive again from that 😂😅 (I am vv excited about it- I just know I'll be vv tired when I return home). Anyways, I have a few fics in the works~ one of them that is a request 🤭 I'm vv excited to work on them! But I think I'm going to change my masterlist a bit when I come back. I'm going to retire a few groups from the main masterlist and I've been debating for the past year about it... But I think I'm going to add a yearly masterlist- So it would go from most recent to the beginning of this year~

I'm also thinking about changing my pfp- I haven't been really into stray kids for uh... years- But I will be sure to make an update about that if I go thru with that too- (It may be ji changmin next 🫣🤭)

i recently saw a post about how fanfic authors shouldn’t take commissions because it’s “greedy” and you’re “using someone’s work as a crutch” and “you should write for free as a passion”…i understand you can’t monetize your work on ao3 because of how the site works and how you shouldn’t have to monetize your hobbies, but oftentimes the current state of the economy makes any means of making money necessary…

a writer’s word has a lot of sentimental value that varies from person to person. the work’s potential financial value is the same. it honestly doesn’t matter if said writer is struggling financially or not—they deserve to be compensated in the event they are making a creative work requested by someone else. if a writer wants to do requests for free, that’s fine, but it’s not “entitled” to want to establish a payment for fic commissions.

if an artist is “allowed” to do commissions for fanart (as they should), a writer should be, too. the fact that that’s even a debate or that writers feel the need to defend themselves just goes to show the state of fandom and how “content creators” are really valued.

anyways i might as well give milgram thoughts (which is me just rambling) since i'm here!! keep thinking abojt the mahiru and orekoto snippet thign it's judt oh man . . . . i wonder how kazui or yuno would feel about orekoto, not because violence or something, but because he actually speaks up about his opinions and doesn't smile and pretend like everything is fine like mikoto

i mean kazui already has a weird first impression on orekoto if we imagine he did break up the fight between kotoko and orekoto! but orekoto is so much more open about his opinions on stuff that would kazui be like huh maybe I should try to do something like that

and i mean i think yuno already called mikoto out once so it'd be interesting to see her feelings on how orekoto is like so open about everything

AND i know you asked for fuuta thoughts and I'm just rambling about orekoto and his interactions because of that snippet, so I guess I should probably say something about fuuta and orekoto now! honestly i'm not too sure his reaction would be? i can't tell if fuuta would be afraid of orekoto because he's worried he'd get beaten up by him or just general annoyance from how blunt(?) he seems

Ahhh ty pal because YES -- Kazui would have gotten Such a wild first impression omg :0 Hmmm, he and Kotoko probably have a skewed perception of Orekoto because their first experience with him was such a violent one :( Though! If anyone were to see him at his worst and still think highly of him, it's the man that tried to hide his "shameful" true self only to have its presence kill someone...

I loooove the thought of Yuno appreciating his honesty and being like "finally, you stopped people pleasing like we talked about 😌 I'm so happy for you ✨️" I wonder if he'd inspire her to stand up for herself more vocally! Though she was very happy in her profession, it's clear she's made some unfair compromises/sacrifices at times, and I wonder if she'd change her mind on some things after hearing how fiercely he cares for himself. They'd be the take no crap duo of all time 👏

OUGH Fuuta being afraid because he doesn't quite understand his motivations ;--; And you're right, there'd definitely be a lot of jealousy that comes out in the form of annoyance -- Fuuta is so used to watchful eyes and perfect online performances that he can't stand someone who does whatever, whenever. Instead of getting inspired, he doubles down on what he's been conditioned with and Orekoto just pisses him off. (On a different note. I always pictured Fuuta idolizing Kotoko in T1 for her strength and sense of justice, but I wonder if that inner fanboy would transfer over to Orekoto after seeing him match strength with the person that just took his eye...)
